0:00:42 > 0:00:43Last time at Cop School...

0:00:43 > 0:00:47our six cadets arrived in London from across the UK

0:01:02 > 0:01:04Get off the bike!

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Get off!

0:01:06 > 0:01:07You do not have to say anything,

0:01:07 > 0:01:11but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned

0:01:11 > 0:01:15something which you may later rely on in court.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20Today, for the first time ever,

0:01:20 > 0:01:24the cadets will be working with the Met Police Dog Support Unit.

0:01:24 > 0:01:25It's 9am sharp,

0:01:25 > 0:01:29and the cadets are gathering here at Keston to find out

0:01:29 > 0:01:32what lies ahead in today's training. But watch out, team.

0:01:32 > 0:01:37There's somebody watching us, and he doesn't look very friendly.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39- Morning, cadets, how are you? Sleep well?- ALL: Yes.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Welcome to the dog school at Keston.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44Another day, another challenge. You up for it?

0:01:44 > 0:01:45Oi! He's got my bag!

0:01:45 > 0:01:48'Time to send in the dogs.'

0:01:48 > 0:01:50Police officer dog!

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Stand still or I'll send the dog!

0:02:00 > 0:02:02- Arrgh!- Ooh!

0:02:02 > 0:02:04Ahhh!

0:02:07 > 0:02:09- Criminal, stand still!- Aarrgh!

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Quinnie, leave!

0:02:12 > 0:02:13Quinnie, leave!

0:02:15 > 0:02:18Yeah, I was really surprised. I didn't know what was happening.

0:02:18 > 0:02:19I just saw a man running.

0:02:19 > 0:02:23We were about to run after him, but then we saw this big German shepherd

0:02:23 > 0:02:27run after him. I was so scared. He started biting his arm.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30You wouldn't want to be that criminal, would you?

0:02:30 > 0:02:32That's what you get for nicking my bag!

0:02:32 > 0:02:35I would just lie down and cry if a dog started chasing me like that.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38Just put your hands over your head and hope for the best.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42Hi, cadets. You've just witnessed a Metropolitan Police dog in action.

0:02:42 > 0:02:43BARKING

0:02:43 > 0:02:45I'm Sergeant Jeff Moore.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48And while you're under training at the dog school,

0:02:48 > 0:02:49I'm your mentor.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53There are around 2,500 police dogs in the UK,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55and the Met have over 250.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59Police dogs can track criminals where ordinary cops can't go.

0:02:59 > 0:03:04They tackle dangerous situations, and venture into hazardous areas.

0:03:04 > 0:03:08Sergeant Jeff Moore has been a dog handler for 19 years.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11He knows everything about working with dogs.

0:03:11 > 0:03:15But can he teach the Cop School cadets enough in just two days

0:03:15 > 0:03:18for them to succeed in their final challenge?

0:03:18 > 0:03:22This is Quinn. He's one of our barkers, as you can hear,

0:03:22 > 0:03:23and biters.

0:03:23 > 0:03:28These big barking dogs are trained to catch criminals

0:03:28 > 0:03:31and bite on command. They're dangerous in untrained hands,

0:03:31 > 0:03:34so they can only be handled by highly qualified officers.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37I'm very nervous with the training today with the dogs.

0:03:37 > 0:03:41Today's training might be very hard, cos I'm not used to these big dogs.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43I think this is going to be my dream training,

0:03:43 > 0:03:45because I love dogs.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49I've got three dogs of my own,

0:03:49 > 0:03:51and I love looking after them.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54I've got a wee shih-tzu and she's my company

0:03:54 > 0:03:58at home when I don't have my friends around me.

0:03:58 > 0:04:02I know this sounds stupid, but, my dog, she listens to me.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05If ever I'm in a bad mood or I'm upset,

0:04:05 > 0:04:07a hug from my dog can make me feel better

0:04:07 > 0:04:10in any situation.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13That's really sweet, girls, but there's just one problem.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16These are working dogs that have been trained to bite.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19They must be treated with respect. They are not your pets.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22All your fluffy talk stops now.

0:04:22 > 0:04:23Unlucky, girls.

0:04:23 > 0:04:27The cadets will be using police dogs in tomorrow's challenge.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30But before they go anywhere near them, there are some dos and don'ts.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33When you go into the kennel, you have to be confident.

0:04:33 > 0:04:35Look at the dog, keep eye contact,

0:04:35 > 0:04:37but don't stare at him.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43I want you to talk to the dogs, but in a nice, quiet tone.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45No sudden movements, OK?

0:04:45 > 0:04:48The time's come. I want you to go off this way

0:04:48 > 0:04:51and go and meet your new four-legged friends.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53What the cadets don't know yet

0:04:53 > 0:04:57is that they will not be working with these barkers and biters.

0:04:57 > 0:05:03They will actually be getting much smaller and friendlier search dogs.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06But before they meet their pooches, the cadets are being taught a lesson

0:05:06 > 0:05:09in taking police dogs very seriously.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12When I saw all the dogs in the cages I was really scared.

0:05:12 > 0:05:16They were running round in circles, barking and baring their teeth.

0:05:16 > 0:05:20- They had these fangs coming down here...- Really big mouths...

0:05:20 > 0:05:24- It was doing spins and barking. - They have the sharpest teeth.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27Really scary, barking at you as mad as it could.

0:05:27 > 0:05:32If one of the crazy spinny-roundy ones is my dog,

0:05:32 > 0:05:33I'm not doing it.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35I'd be terrified.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38If Carrie's one of those crazy dogs, I will go mad.

0:05:39 > 0:05:41I will go bonkers.

0:05:42 > 0:05:44Oh, my gosh.

0:05:46 > 0:05:49Their first meeting is a critical moment

0:05:49 > 0:05:51as these dogs will instantly decide

0:05:51 > 0:05:53if they like their new handlers or not,

0:05:53 > 0:05:55so the pressure's on.

0:05:55 > 0:05:58'First up to meet his dog - Junior.'

0:05:58 > 0:06:00You know what you've got to do though, yeah?

0:06:00 > 0:06:02You'll be fine, just in here.

0:06:02 > 0:06:06'He's the cadet who is most scared of these animals

0:06:06 > 0:06:10'and he has no idea what growling, snarling beast is waiting for him.'

0:06:14 > 0:06:18Junior, meet Kyra.

0:06:18 > 0:06:21Not the big barker and biter you were expecting,

0:06:21 > 0:06:23she's one of the force's smallest search dogs

0:06:23 > 0:06:25and nothing to be scared of.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28'But will these two bond instantly?'

0:06:28 > 0:06:33# And they called it puppy love... #

0:06:33 > 0:06:35It's love at first sight.

0:06:35 > 0:06:37Well, for Kyra anyway.

0:06:37 > 0:06:39'I was really nervous and scared,'

0:06:39 > 0:06:43but then as soon as I saw the dog jumping up and down

0:06:43 > 0:06:46and really happy and joyful, I really liked it.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49I think me and my dog are going to be the best of friends.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53Animal-loving Rebecca is next to meet her dog, Boycie.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58She's in...

0:06:58 > 0:07:00and he's out!

0:07:00 > 0:07:01Let's see that again...

0:07:03 > 0:07:05Well caught, Jeff!

0:07:05 > 0:07:08Boycie! Boycie, that's a good girl.

0:07:08 > 0:07:12Boycie is a highly-trained member of the police force

0:07:12 > 0:07:15who tackles crime and danger daily.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18So he's not going to be happy if you keep calling him a girl, Rebecca.

0:07:18 > 0:07:19Good girl, Boycie.

0:07:19 > 0:07:21Good girl.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24It looks like your dog skills from home are working.

0:07:24 > 0:07:27You've gained control of her - I mean, him. And you're a natural.

0:07:27 > 0:07:29The first two have gone well,

0:07:29 > 0:07:31but how will the others fare?

0:07:31 > 0:07:36I was like, "Oh, no, please don't tell me it's going to be massive."

0:07:36 > 0:07:39I walked in and he was jumping up on me, sniffing and licking me.

0:07:39 > 0:07:42Aaaw! That's gorgeous.

0:07:42 > 0:07:46I was scared even a little dog was going to be barking and barking.

0:07:46 > 0:07:49It was such a relief, I can't even tell you.

0:07:49 > 0:07:51Aaaw!

0:07:51 > 0:07:53She wanted to play so I gave her a smooth

0:07:53 > 0:07:55'and she started doing loops round me.'

0:07:55 > 0:07:56Hello.

0:07:56 > 0:08:00I felt scared because I didn't want it to be a massive German shepherd.

0:08:00 > 0:08:03But I was happy it was a little one, it was dead nice to me.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05She won't bite, will she?

0:08:05 > 0:08:06'I hope not!'

0:08:10 > 0:08:14They've got their dogs, but now they need to exercise them to bond -

0:08:14 > 0:08:16- whatever the weather. - THUNDER RUMBLES

0:08:16 > 0:08:19It's raining cadets and dogs.

0:08:19 > 0:08:21No, no, no!

0:08:23 > 0:08:26Their four-legged friends might not be as fierce

0:08:26 > 0:08:27as the barkers and biters

0:08:27 > 0:08:29but this lively lot are no easier to handle.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31Keep going.

0:08:31 > 0:08:32Go on.

0:08:32 > 0:08:36And Sergeant Jeff Moore is making sure Nathan gets away with nothing.

0:08:36 > 0:08:40Come on, you want to be a dog handler. You've got to keep running.

0:08:40 > 0:08:41The dog didn't obey me.

0:08:41 > 0:08:42Aha, no!

0:08:42 > 0:08:44I found that very tiring.

0:08:44 > 0:08:47Izzy, sit, sit. Sit! Oh!

0:08:47 > 0:08:50Nathan couldn't control Izzy.

0:08:50 > 0:08:53Yeah. Aaah! Yeah!

0:08:53 > 0:08:55It was really funny.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58They may look like ordinary dogs out for walkies,

0:08:58 > 0:09:01but don't be fooled. These brave search animals

0:09:01 > 0:09:02are part of a crack team

0:09:02 > 0:09:06which help catch around 5,000 drug dealers in Britain every year...

0:09:06 > 0:09:08Sit!

0:09:08 > 0:09:12..as well as uncovering smuggled and stolen goods and tracking criminals.

0:09:12 > 0:09:14He won't sit.

0:09:14 > 0:09:19So the cadets have met their dogs, but now the real work starts.

0:09:20 > 0:09:22BARKING

0:09:22 > 0:09:27We're here in this training room to find out the real nitty-gritty

0:09:27 > 0:09:29of what these search dogs can do.

0:09:29 > 0:09:31Jeff is going to give us a live demonstration now

0:09:31 > 0:09:35on just how these highly-trained animals go about doing their work.

0:09:35 > 0:09:40Hidden inside one of these suitcases is some stolen cash.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43Riz is trained to pick up the scent of money,

0:09:43 > 0:09:46and as a dog's nose can be ten times more powerful than a human's,

0:09:46 > 0:09:48a suitcase shouldn't stand in his way

0:09:48 > 0:09:52- of finding what he's searching for. - He's checking all the zips

0:09:52 > 0:09:55to make sure that he's searched every part of the case.

0:09:55 > 0:09:59The real skill for a handler is learning how to accurately read

0:09:59 > 0:10:00what their dog is telling them.

0:10:00 > 0:10:03He's showing a little bit more interest in this one,

0:10:03 > 0:10:06so he's telling me there could be something there.

0:10:06 > 0:10:08So he's found it, he's remained still,

0:10:08 > 0:10:10he's telling me there's something there,

0:10:10 > 0:10:14and then he'll get rewarded with his toy. OK? Good lad!

0:10:14 > 0:10:16See if Riz is right.

0:10:16 > 0:10:17There you go.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19Your last week's pocket money, Nathan.

0:10:19 > 0:10:21ALL LAUGH

0:10:21 > 0:10:24Now it's the cadets' turn. To keep them on their toes,

0:10:24 > 0:10:27I've moved the money. But can they control their dogs

0:10:27 > 0:10:30to search every case and find that stolen cash?

0:10:30 > 0:10:31Let's find out.

0:10:31 > 0:10:32Come on, Riz.

0:10:32 > 0:10:34Come on.

0:10:34 > 0:10:35Riz, Riz, wait.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37Go to this one, that's it.

0:10:42 > 0:10:46Who is leading who, cadets? You've got to stay in control.

0:10:46 > 0:10:47Carrie was pulling me everywhere.

0:10:47 > 0:10:51She was in one direction and then the other. It was bedlam.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54I think I should have talked to the dog more - he was running around

0:10:54 > 0:10:57and I wasn't telling him which one to search.

0:10:57 > 0:11:01Nathan may be finding it hard, but Megan's a pro.

0:11:01 > 0:11:02I think I did really well

0:11:02 > 0:11:04cos I was able to get him to where I wanted to go.

0:11:04 > 0:11:06Boycie, this one.

0:11:06 > 0:11:08I think I did really well in that one.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10But the big test is whether the cadets can read

0:11:10 > 0:11:13when their dog finds something.

0:11:16 > 0:11:19Yeah, he's staying still. I think it's in this one.

0:11:19 > 0:11:20What's the next step?

0:11:22 > 0:11:24What's he telling you, Jade?

0:11:24 > 0:11:25Er, that it's in that one.

0:11:25 > 0:11:27What would you do now, Jade?

0:11:27 > 0:11:28Take a look?

0:11:29 > 0:11:31Yeah, I think I'm going to open it.

0:11:31 > 0:11:33Or?

0:11:33 > 0:11:34Search the rest of them.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37- WHINING - 'Hold on, cadets.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40'You've forgotten the most important thing. No-one works for free,

0:11:40 > 0:11:44- 'And these dogs are paid with praise.'- Oh, yeah!

0:11:44 > 0:11:46'And rubber balls.'

0:11:46 > 0:11:49# My doggie is nothing if he don't have a bone

0:11:49 > 0:11:51# All doggy, hold your bone

0:11:51 > 0:11:52# All doggy, hold it... #

0:11:56 > 0:11:58Oof!

0:11:58 > 0:12:01'But were they right about the money?'

0:12:02 > 0:12:04Yeah, well done.

0:12:04 > 0:12:05Yeah.

0:12:05 > 0:12:08- Wahey!- Yay!

0:12:08 > 0:12:10Yeah!

0:12:10 > 0:12:13Don't thank me, thank the dog. ALL LAUGH

0:12:14 > 0:12:17'Six out of six ain't bad. Well done, dogs.'

0:12:23 > 0:12:25BARKING

0:12:25 > 0:12:28I think they've done very well. As I say, as a group,

0:12:28 > 0:12:31we would normally expect one or two maybe not to perform as well,

0:12:31 > 0:12:34but they have all, as a group, done really good.

0:12:34 > 0:12:38Probably done better than some of our actual students that we have

0:12:38 > 0:12:41on the courses here, so that was really pleasing.

0:12:41 > 0:12:43'I think the cadets have done really good today,'

0:12:43 > 0:12:45especially with their first insight

0:12:45 > 0:12:47into the work of the police search dogs,

0:12:47 > 0:12:50but they're really going to have to step it up

0:12:50 > 0:12:52in order to pass tomorrow's end-of-show challenge.

0:12:52 > 0:12:56In just 24 hours, the cadets and their dogs

0:12:56 > 0:12:58are going to have to uncover the loot

0:12:58 > 0:13:00stashed away by this Cop School thief.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02Whoever does the best at the challenge

0:13:02 > 0:13:07will be made Top Cop and rewarded with an amazing treat.

0:13:12 > 0:13:15It's the morning of the challenge but before it gets underway,

0:13:15 > 0:13:18the cadets have a crucially important lesson to learn

0:13:18 > 0:13:21about the safety of their sniffer dogs.

0:13:21 > 0:13:24Jeff has summoned them to this dog training flat.

0:13:24 > 0:13:28It may look normal at first glance but on closer inspection,

0:13:28 > 0:13:31it's full of hazards, which, if left undetected,

0:13:31 > 0:13:34could be deadly to the dogs, so observation is key.

0:13:34 > 0:13:39Before the Dog Support Unit are sent in to search any property,

0:13:39 > 0:13:42they have to know it's safe for their animals.

0:13:42 > 0:13:45But can the cadets spot the dangers in this flat?

0:13:45 > 0:13:46Megan, you've had a look.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49Is there anything you can see that's a danger?

0:13:49 > 0:13:52There's broken glass just there and the dog could cut its mouth

0:13:52 > 0:13:55- if it ate it or something. - Yeah, and its paws.

0:13:55 > 0:13:59- Rebecca, have you seen anything? - There's acid on the sofa.- Yeah.

0:13:59 > 0:14:02That is really dangerous, not only to the dogs but also to yourselves.

0:14:02 > 0:14:06- OK? Nathan.- Yeah, there's sort of like an open tin can

0:14:06 > 0:14:10- so when the dog goes to smell, it'll cut its nose.- Yeah, that's very good.

0:14:10 > 0:14:16- Jade?- Erm...the window's open so the dog could jump out and hurt itself.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19So we'd need to close that before we started the search

0:14:19 > 0:14:22and that would help contain the scent within the room.

0:14:22 > 0:14:26- Um... Could the sandwich be one?- Yeah.

0:14:26 > 0:14:29Yeah, it's not been left for you to eat!

0:14:29 > 0:14:31'Food may look harmless,

0:14:31 > 0:14:34'but it could be poisonous and a hazard for the dog if eaten.

0:14:34 > 0:14:38'Recognising the risk to their dogs could be a life-or-death decision

0:14:38 > 0:14:40'and the cadets will need to remember this

0:14:40 > 0:14:42'for today's challenge.

0:14:44 > 0:14:47'I now need to choose a cadet who will take charge

0:14:47 > 0:14:49'in their main challenge.'

0:14:49 > 0:14:54OK, cadets. It's time to select today's leader.

0:14:54 > 0:14:57'The person I've chosen is a quieter member of the group

0:14:57 > 0:15:01'but is a huge animal lover. I'm hoping their understanding of dogs

0:15:01 > 0:15:05will let them shine and stand out during this challenge.'

0:15:05 > 0:15:08Today's leader is going to be...

0:15:08 > 0:15:09Rebecca.

0:15:09 > 0:15:12Well done. Well done, Rebecca.

0:15:12 > 0:15:1613-year-old Rebecca lives on the outskirts of Belfast

0:15:16 > 0:15:17and likes to be heard.

0:15:17 > 0:15:18I can't wait!

0:15:18 > 0:15:20She's great with animals,

0:15:20 > 0:15:25but how will she cope leading a team of Cop School cadets?

0:15:25 > 0:15:26Bring it on!

0:15:26 > 0:15:29OK, Rebecca. This is your leader cam.

0:15:29 > 0:15:32And you are now team leader for today's challenge.

0:15:32 > 0:15:35I'm feeling really excited about being leader,

0:15:35 > 0:15:37because I can't wait to get into the challenge.

0:15:44 > 0:15:46The cadets don't know it yet,

0:15:46 > 0:15:49but while Rebecca is getting used to her role as leader,

0:15:49 > 0:15:52there is a crime taking place on the other side of town.

0:15:52 > 0:15:56A gang of Cop School criminals have just robbed a bank.

0:15:56 > 0:15:59Most of them have been arrested at the scene,

0:15:59 > 0:16:03but this thief has fled to a safe house on a nearby estate.

0:16:03 > 0:16:05He's frantically stashing the cash

0:16:05 > 0:16:08in places he hopes the cops won't find it.

0:16:08 > 0:16:10But the police have tracked him down,

0:16:10 > 0:16:13and are on their way to nick him. They've called for back-up

0:16:13 > 0:16:17from the Dog Support Unit to sniff out the stolen money.

0:16:17 > 0:16:20Cadets, listen up. There's been an urgent message.

0:16:20 > 0:16:22There's been an armed robbery in town.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25The suspects have been chased off and are in a flat on an estate.

0:16:25 > 0:16:29Police are there at the moment, arresting the criminals. They need

0:16:29 > 0:16:33the help of the Dog Support Unit, urgently, to search for the cash.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36Rebecca, you're team leader. Away we go.

0:16:38 > 0:16:41SIREN WAILS

0:16:44 > 0:16:47Back at the safe house, the police are closing in on the criminal.

0:16:47 > 0:16:50But not before he's finished hiding the loot.

0:16:50 > 0:16:54Meanwhile, the cadets are on their way to the scene at high speed,

0:16:54 > 0:16:57with their sniffer sidekicks, Boycie and Riz, in the van.

0:16:57 > 0:17:00They need to find the money as evidence of the crime committed.

0:17:00 > 0:17:04As they arrive, the cops have already arrested the thief,

0:17:04 > 0:17:07but until the cadets find the money, they can't charge him.

0:17:07 > 0:17:11'They don't have much time.' OK, that's the criminal taken out.

0:17:11 > 0:17:15Rebecca, you're in charge, tell me about your team.

0:17:15 > 0:17:19Megan and Jade are going to be with the dogs.

0:17:19 > 0:17:21With me and Sam, also.

0:17:21 > 0:17:25Nathan and Junior are making sure the place is secure

0:17:25 > 0:17:26for the dogs to go in.

0:17:26 > 0:17:29- So you guys are going to do the search first?- Yeah.

0:17:29 > 0:17:31- You've decided that as a team? - Yeah.- Yeah.

0:17:31 > 0:17:34You're happy with everything that Jeff taught you,

0:17:34 > 0:17:36- the importance of that search?- Yeah.

0:17:36 > 0:17:38You've seen the criminal taken out.

0:17:38 > 0:17:40Now it's down to you to make sure it's safe

0:17:40 > 0:17:44for the dog and the other four officers to go in. OK?

0:17:44 > 0:17:47- Rebecca, are you happy with that? - Yeah.- Let's get going, then.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51The cadets need to get a move on.

0:17:51 > 0:17:55This is a big property to search, and it's filled with hazards.

0:17:55 > 0:17:59It's important to make sure that you can hear each other.

0:17:59 > 0:18:02You stay in communication with Junior and Nathan

0:18:02 > 0:18:06when they're searching. And make sure the whole place is safe

0:18:06 > 0:18:09- before you even think about going in.- Sam to Junior.

0:18:09 > 0:18:12Have you found anything inside the property yet?

0:18:12 > 0:18:14'Would you enter in the property now?'

0:18:14 > 0:18:19Erm, yes, there's loads of glass, and...

0:18:19 > 0:18:23'Yeah, we're just looking but first I've seen the glass'

0:18:23 > 0:18:26- and I'm just going to get rid of that.- 'OK, thank you.'

0:18:26 > 0:18:27Be careful with the glass.

0:18:27 > 0:18:31Yeah, found some biscuits. Just removing all the food.

0:18:31 > 0:18:33He'd better not be eating it!

0:18:33 > 0:18:35That's good.

0:18:35 > 0:18:39Two pens, there's a fire extinguisher.

0:18:39 > 0:18:43Fire extinguisher and pens? That's a bit over the top.

0:18:43 > 0:18:45You're not a removal man, Nathan.

0:18:45 > 0:18:47'Knives and forks in the kitchen.'

0:18:47 > 0:18:51- 'Pardon?'- Knives and forks in the kitchen, should I move them out?

0:18:51 > 0:18:53Yeah, move them.

0:18:53 > 0:18:55'Eh?

0:18:55 > 0:18:57'Knives and forks being taken out now?

0:18:57 > 0:18:59'It'll be the kitchen sink next!

0:18:59 > 0:19:01'You're being a bit over-cautious, cadets.

0:19:01 > 0:19:04'You need to get a move on, you've still got upstairs to search.'

0:19:04 > 0:19:08Junior, you might want to get the brush up here as well.

0:19:08 > 0:19:10'Come on, guys, it's only a bit of mud.'

0:19:10 > 0:19:13Tell them that we've found some hazardous stuff.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16We've found some...acid.

0:19:16 > 0:19:19- Remove it.- Definitely.

0:19:19 > 0:19:23- 'Remove the acid.'- Yeah, we've removed the acid.

0:19:23 > 0:19:27- Do you think there's anything else in here?- There's some wood, there.

0:19:27 > 0:19:33Nathan and Junior are on overdrive, getting shot of anything in sight.

0:19:33 > 0:19:35But Jade's noticed something major they've missed.

0:19:35 > 0:19:37Can you close the window?

0:19:40 > 0:19:43Good call, Jade. You have to keep the scent in.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45- All clear downstairs.- All clear, OK.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47- Sounds like they're almost done. - Yeah.

0:19:47 > 0:19:51- I think it's all clear.- Yeah.

0:19:51 > 0:19:54All clear, yeah. You can come in now.

0:19:54 > 0:19:57- OK, thank you.- 'Bring your dogs.'

0:19:57 > 0:20:00- Bring the dogs.- With the hazards -

0:20:00 > 0:20:06and everything else - removed, the cadets can bring in the dogs.

0:20:06 > 0:20:10- Come on.- Sniffer dogs can only work for short periods of time

0:20:10 > 0:20:13before they're in danger of nose fatigue and need to rest.

0:20:13 > 0:20:17So Jeff Moore is giving the cadets a 20-minute time limit

0:20:17 > 0:20:20to search for the money. The clock is ticking.

0:20:22 > 0:20:25There are six bundles of money hidden in this property.

0:20:25 > 0:20:26Here's where they are.

0:20:26 > 0:20:31In the living room - under the sofa and in the back of the computer.

0:20:31 > 0:20:33Inside the kitchen cupboard...

0:20:35 > 0:20:38in this bag on the upstairs landing,

0:20:38 > 0:20:39stashed in the bookcase,

0:20:39 > 0:20:42and under the mattress on the bed.

0:20:42 > 0:20:46But can our cadets and their dogs find them all?

0:20:49 > 0:20:52- Over here, Boycie.- Check these.

0:20:52 > 0:20:54We need to check these.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57- Anything in here, Boycie? - We're checking suitcases.

0:20:57 > 0:20:58No, no?

0:21:00 > 0:21:02Boycie!

0:21:09 > 0:21:11Did you find the money?

0:21:11 > 0:21:13No, he's just sniffing the kitchen.

0:21:19 > 0:21:22Has Boycie noticed something in that bag?

0:21:22 > 0:21:24You have to give him time to sniff properly, Rebecca.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33Nothing found in the kitchen.

0:21:33 > 0:21:34Sure about that, Jade?

0:21:34 > 0:21:37You've missed one of the cash bundles, too.

0:21:37 > 0:21:39Nothing found in the kitchen.

0:21:39 > 0:21:42What's in here, Boycie?

0:21:42 > 0:21:46Rebecca's in the bedroom, and Boycie's certainly showing interest.

0:21:48 > 0:21:49Boycie? No? Come on.

0:21:49 > 0:21:54Not so fast, Rebecca. Boycie's onto something.

0:21:54 > 0:21:56And he's trying to tell you.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58There must be something here.

0:22:02 > 0:22:06- Yep, got one.- We've just found a load of money now.

0:22:06 > 0:22:09- Yes!- Well done, well done, well done!

0:22:09 > 0:22:12One down, five to go.

0:22:12 > 0:22:14Junior to Sam.

0:22:14 > 0:22:16'Yeah, Junior?'

0:22:16 > 0:22:18Did you appreciate the dogs?

0:22:18 > 0:22:20Did you play about with it when you found the money?

0:22:20 > 0:22:22- 'We did.' - Brilliant radio work, Junior.

0:22:22 > 0:22:24And good sniffing, Boycie.

0:22:24 > 0:22:26- Jeff.- Well done.

0:22:26 > 0:22:29The cadets have been searching for seven minutes.

0:22:29 > 0:22:31But they've only got one lot of money in the bank.

0:22:31 > 0:22:35They've got five more bundles to find, and only 13 minutes left.

0:22:35 > 0:22:40They need to kick it up a notch, and read their dogs better.

0:22:40 > 0:22:44- How's it going?- Nothing so far.

0:22:44 > 0:22:47Do you want to go and search the bin?

0:22:47 > 0:22:48Will I search the sofa?

0:22:48 > 0:22:51Just let him search one thing at a time.

0:22:51 > 0:22:53- Come on, Boycie, in here. - Up in the bedroom,

0:22:53 > 0:22:55Boycie's one determined dog.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58He knows where he's heading - straight back to that bag.

0:22:58 > 0:23:01Anything in there? Anything in there, Boycie?

0:23:05 > 0:23:07- Yeah, we've found something. - At last!

0:23:08 > 0:23:10Yeah, that's a positive reaction.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15We've found some money, Riz found money.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18Well done. Make sure that you appreciate the dog.

0:23:18 > 0:23:21- Good boy.- Three bundles down, three to go.

0:23:21 > 0:23:23But only five minutes left.

0:23:23 > 0:23:26Why don't we put this on the floor, see if there's anything in here?

0:23:26 > 0:23:28Yeah, do that.

0:23:28 > 0:23:30Come on, Boycie. Something in there?

0:23:30 > 0:23:32Good thorough search upstairs, guys.

0:23:32 > 0:23:34That's a positive.

0:23:34 > 0:23:36Downstairs are making progress, too.

0:23:36 > 0:23:38Riz found more money.

0:23:38 > 0:23:41At two bundles each, the cadets feel like their searches

0:23:41 > 0:23:45- are coming to an end.- Junior, we've done a thorough search,

0:23:45 > 0:23:47we can only find two stacks, what should we do?

0:23:47 > 0:23:50Junior's instincts tell him there might be more.

0:23:50 > 0:23:54They've found two stacks of money, both of the dogs.

0:23:54 > 0:23:58We're saying, just cos they've found two stacks, not to just go out.

0:23:58 > 0:24:01- Make sure that they search all the rooms.- Just because they found two

0:24:01 > 0:24:04- doesn't mean that's all of them. - Yeah.- Good thinking.

0:24:09 > 0:24:11OK.

0:24:11 > 0:24:15- Shall we search the kitchen?- Yeah. Riz...

0:24:15 > 0:24:17Back in the kitchen, last chance to find the cash.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20That's a positive reaction.

0:24:27 > 0:24:29- Good boy! - Junior's persistence has paid off.

0:24:29 > 0:24:31'He's found more money.'

0:24:31 > 0:24:33Yay! High-five.

0:24:33 > 0:24:37We're packing it up, we can't find anything more.

0:24:37 > 0:24:39OK, that's good, yeah.

0:24:39 > 0:24:44Jade to Nathan and Sam, time is up so we're coming out of the flat.

0:24:44 > 0:24:48The cadets have found five out of the six bundles.

0:24:48 > 0:24:51Jade and Megan missed the cash stashed in the bookcase.

0:24:51 > 0:24:53But not a bad effort all round.

0:24:53 > 0:24:56And team leader Rebecca is thrilled.

0:24:56 > 0:25:01I loved being team leader. I felt in control and I felt really good.

0:25:01 > 0:25:04Rebecca was an amazing team leader. The jobs she allocated

0:25:04 > 0:25:07were quite good. She gave the right roles to everyone.

0:25:09 > 0:25:11Hurray!

0:25:11 > 0:25:13I was loving it.

0:25:13 > 0:25:17It was so fun. I felt like a proper police officer.

0:25:17 > 0:25:20I'm really impressed by the police dogs, how they work,

0:25:20 > 0:25:22how they think and their sense of smell.

0:25:22 > 0:25:24Up!

0:25:24 > 0:25:26- Good boy. - The challenge has gone well.

0:25:26 > 0:25:29But now Sergeant Jeff Moore and I have the tough decision

0:25:29 > 0:25:32about who today's Top Cop or Top Cops should be.

0:25:32 > 0:25:35- OK, Jeff, what do you think? - They've all done very well.

0:25:35 > 0:25:39But I think we need to break the search down on who did what.

0:25:39 > 0:25:42Let's take Junior. When the others said, "I think we're done",

0:25:42 > 0:25:45he's the one that said, "No, one more search."

0:25:45 > 0:25:48And that led to more money being found.

0:25:48 > 0:25:49- To do that was exceptional. - A good call.

0:25:49 > 0:25:52Nathan - the initial search was thorough.

0:25:52 > 0:25:55Yeah, they would have had the floorboards up if we allowed them!

0:25:55 > 0:25:58Rebecca was team leader. Did you think she commanded her leadership?

0:25:58 > 0:26:01Yeah, I think she did well.

0:26:01 > 0:26:04There were times when she got involved in

0:26:04 > 0:26:07what she was doing herself, rather than what the whole team were doing.

0:26:07 > 0:26:11- Let's look at Megan.- Yeah, she was reading the dog very well.

0:26:11 > 0:26:14There was one that was particularly difficult,

0:26:14 > 0:26:17and she was aware that the dog was showing far more interest.

0:26:17 > 0:26:19So this is going to be a tough decision.

0:26:19 > 0:26:23They have all done very well. So it is going to be very tough.

0:26:28 > 0:26:31OK, team, it's time to announce

0:26:31 > 0:26:33Top Cop or Top Cops.

0:26:34 > 0:26:38This cadet began very nervously around dogs,

0:26:38 > 0:26:40but built it up and absolutely shone,

0:26:40 > 0:26:43Jeff and I both believe, on today's challenge.

0:26:43 > 0:26:47The treat will be to play with a litter of six-week-old puppies...

0:26:47 > 0:26:50ALL: Ah!

0:26:50 > 0:26:54..while the rest of you clean out the dog van.

0:26:54 > 0:26:58So today's Top Cop is...

0:27:12 > 0:27:14..Junior. Well done, Junior. Step forward.

0:27:14 > 0:27:18Well done, mate. Congratulations. You did really well.

0:27:18 > 0:27:20I was really shocked. I wasn't expecting it.

0:27:20 > 0:27:23But, yeah, after that I was so excited,

0:27:23 > 0:27:27I was just looking forward to going and playing with the puppies.

0:27:27 > 0:27:29Next time at Cop School...

0:27:29 > 0:27:32The cadets get behind the wheel...

0:27:32 > 0:27:33I don't like driving!

0:27:33 > 0:27:36..and they go on patrol with the traffic cops.

0:27:36 > 0:27:39But how will they cope when they're called on

0:27:39 > 0:27:42to deal with a major road-side collision?

0:27:42 > 0:27:43Did you not see her?!

0:27:49 > 0:27:52Ow!
