0:06:08 > 0:06:11This story is called The Giant's Toothache.

0:06:11 > 0:06:13It was written by Maitha Al Khayat

0:06:13 > 0:06:16and the pictures are by Hani El-Masri.

0:06:16 > 0:06:20Jameela the giant lived high on the mountains.

0:06:20 > 0:06:24She was a kind, good-natured giant, loved by all her neighbours.

0:06:24 > 0:06:29One morning, she set off to buy her favourite ice cream.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31Mmm, I love ice-cream.

0:06:31 > 0:06:36But as she took her first lick, Jameela gave a deafening groan.

0:06:36 > 0:06:39The hills shook and the sheep jiggled.

0:06:39 > 0:06:44Jameela gave a massive moan and the trees swayed and the people wiggled.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47"Ow!" yelled Jameela

0:06:47 > 0:06:50and enormous tears ran down her cheeks,

0:06:50 > 0:06:52filling up the streams nearby.

0:06:52 > 0:06:56- Maybe the ice cream was too cold. - Let's find out, shall we?

0:06:56 > 0:06:59"What's wrong, Jameela?" cried the King,

0:06:59 > 0:07:01rushing out of his castle.

0:07:01 > 0:07:05But Jameela couldn't speak. Instead, she lent down low

0:07:05 > 0:07:08and opened her great big mouth.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11"Just look at that big hole!" cried a little boy.

0:07:11 > 0:07:13"We must call the dentist."

0:07:13 > 0:07:17So the village dentist came and peered into Jameela's mouth.

0:07:17 > 0:07:21But when she saw the size of the problem, she fainted right away.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24So the King called for the royal dentist.

0:07:24 > 0:07:27"No job is too great for me", he boasted.

0:07:27 > 0:07:32But when he saw the size of the problem, he ran right away!

0:07:32 > 0:07:36Bip, bip. Jameela needs her friends to help her, like you all helped me.

0:07:36 > 0:07:40That's right, Bippity. Let's see what happens.

0:07:40 > 0:07:43"No-one can help", moaned Jameela,

0:07:43 > 0:07:47trudging home while the mountains shook beneath her

0:07:47 > 0:07:49and the whole village shuddered.

0:07:49 > 0:07:53"Something must be done", cried the King, desperately.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56"We can't cope with all this noise."

0:07:56 > 0:07:58"Excuse me", said one of the builders

0:07:58 > 0:08:00who was helping fix all the damage.

0:08:00 > 0:08:02"I've got an idea."

0:08:02 > 0:08:06The villagers looked doubtful, but anything was worth a try.

0:08:06 > 0:08:08So the builder and his construction crew

0:08:08 > 0:08:10drove to the top of the mountain.

0:08:10 > 0:08:13"We've come to help", they announced.

0:08:13 > 0:08:17Jameela was so astonished, her mouth fell open and she stopped groaning.

0:08:17 > 0:08:20The builders got to work fast.

0:08:20 > 0:08:24With the excavator, they drilled and dug away at the bad tooth,

0:08:24 > 0:08:26scooping out all the bad bits.

0:08:26 > 0:08:27Then with their cement mixer,

0:08:27 > 0:08:31they filled the cavity and gave the teeth a good polish.

0:08:31 > 0:08:34Soon, Jameela's teeth were sparkling.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37"It doesn't hurt any more!", cried Jameela,

0:08:37 > 0:08:40smiling a very shiny smile at the builders.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42The villagers cheered.

0:08:42 > 0:08:46"Now remember, Jameela," said the King.

0:08:46 > 0:08:48"Brush your teeth every day

0:08:48 > 0:08:52"and that way you won't get any more cavities,

0:08:52 > 0:08:55"and we'll get a bit of peace and quiet."

0:08:55 > 0:08:57But oh, dear.

0:08:57 > 0:09:01The mountains were shaking and the sheep were jiggling again!

0:09:01 > 0:09:03"What is it this time?"

0:09:03 > 0:09:07yelled the King, putting his hands over his ears.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10It was Jameela. She was singing for joy.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13The End. Did you enjoy that story?

0:09:13 > 0:09:15Yes, very much.

0:09:21 > 0:09:24Now it's your turn. Which bit did you like best?

0:09:36 > 0:09:38Look she's got toothache.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40Ooh, let me see.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43Oh, no! That's a big hole.

0:09:43 > 0:09:48The builders can fix the tooth. Come on, let's dig.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51Back a bit. Bit more. Stop!

0:09:51 > 0:09:55- And now for a polish. - Wow, they're shiny!
