0:06:08 > 0:06:09'We're ready.'

0:06:09 > 0:06:12This story is called Not Today, Thank You,

0:06:12 > 0:06:14and it was written by Gareth Edwards

0:06:14 > 0:06:17and the pictures are by Susanne Baekby Oleson.

0:06:17 > 0:06:21"Once in a forest, there was a hollow tree

0:06:21 > 0:06:25"and inside there lived an owl who didn't like visitors.

0:06:25 > 0:06:27"He had a comfortable room to sit in

0:06:27 > 0:06:30"and a front door with a large door-knocker.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33"But whenever Squirrel, Badger or Rabbit knocked on the door to ask

0:06:33 > 0:06:38"if Owl would like some company, he would say, "Not today, thank you."

0:06:38 > 0:06:41"Not today, thank you."

0:06:41 > 0:06:45"One day, it began to rain in the forest. "I know," said Squirrel.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49"Maybe Owl will let me shelter in his tree."

0:06:49 > 0:06:51"She knocked on Owl's door.

0:06:51 > 0:06:53"Who's that?" said Owl.

0:06:53 > 0:06:56"Just Squirrel wanting shelter from the rain."

0:06:56 > 0:06:58"Not today, thank you," said Owl.

0:06:58 > 0:07:01"Next to Owl's front door was a big old toadstool

0:07:01 > 0:07:06"so Squirrel sheltered underneath it like a spotty red umbrella."

0:07:06 > 0:07:09- Oh, Squirrel won't get wet under there.- No.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12"Not long after, Owl heard another knock.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15"Who's that?" "Just Rabbit wanting shelter from the rain."

0:07:15 > 0:07:19"Not today, thank you," said Owl.

0:07:19 > 0:07:23"Now it was pouring and the wind was blowing so Rabbit had to try

0:07:23 > 0:07:26"and keep dry under the toadstool next to Squirrel.

0:07:26 > 0:07:31"It was a bit of a squash. Pretty soon, Owl heard another knock.

0:07:31 > 0:07:36"Who's that?" "Just Badger wanting shelter from the rain."

0:07:36 > 0:07:39"Not today, thank you," said Owl.

0:07:39 > 0:07:43"But now it was a storm and the wind was roaring.

0:07:43 > 0:07:47"Inside his hollow tree, Owl shivered.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50"Outside, Badger tried to squeeze under the toadstool

0:07:50 > 0:07:52"next to Rabbit and Squirrel

0:07:52 > 0:07:55"while the wind rocked the toadstool back and forth.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57"You're too big," said Squirrel.

0:07:57 > 0:08:01"There's not enough room," said Rabbit.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04"Then all of a sudden, whoosh!

0:08:04 > 0:08:07"A huge gust of wind blew the toadstool and the animals

0:08:07 > 0:08:11"right out of the ground and straight through Owl's front door.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13"Bup!

0:08:13 > 0:08:16"Squirrel and Rabbit and Badger landed in a heap,

0:08:16 > 0:08:18"right in the middle of Owl's carpet.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21"What are you lot doing in here?" said Owl.

0:08:21 > 0:08:25"Sorry," said Squirrel, Badger and Rabbit.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28"At that moment, there was an enormous boom of thunder

0:08:28 > 0:08:32"and all the animals leapt into Owl's armchair."

0:08:32 > 0:08:36Oh! Boom! That made me jump!

0:08:36 > 0:08:41"When it was quiet again, Squirrel and Badger and Rabbit peeked out.

0:08:41 > 0:08:43"Would you like us to go?"

0:08:43 > 0:08:49"But Owl realised, he didn't want to be on his own. "Not today," he said.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52"And as the animals snuggled up safe and warm together,

0:08:52 > 0:08:56"Owl whispered very quietly, "Thank you."

0:08:56 > 0:09:00- "The end." Did you enjoy that story?- Yes.

0:09:00 > 0:09:04I liked how everyone ended up all warm and cosy.

0:09:04 > 0:09:08Even though Owl said he wanted to be on his own at first.

0:09:08 > 0:09:12- He liked having the others there after all.- Now it's your turn.

0:09:12 > 0:09:17Which bit did you like best? Come on, it's time to show me the story.

0:09:17 > 0:09:21- We're jumping in puddles. - Now it's raining!

0:09:21 > 0:09:23It's very windy and rainy.

0:09:23 > 0:09:27- Let's shelter under the toadstool. - It's a bit cold!

0:09:27 > 0:09:33- Woah!- The wind is blowing us about with Rabbit, Badger and Squirrel.

0:09:33 > 0:09:37- Whee!- Let's see if Owl is at home.

0:09:37 > 0:09:39Let's knock on Owl's door.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42- Is anyone there?- Crash, boom!

0:09:42 > 0:09:45- The lightning made me jump. - Oh, no, look out!

0:09:45 > 0:09:49- Has the thunder stopped? - That lightning made my legs wobble.

0:09:49 > 0:09:53Let's keep warm by the fire.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55Aah.

0:09:55 > 0:09:59Well done, everyone. Thanks for showing me the story.

0:09:59 > 0:10:03Owl didn't want to ask his friends to come inside,

0:10:03 > 0:10:06but when it thundered, he was glad they did.

0:10:06 > 0:10:10A bit like me, but I'm glad I did ask for help bouncing on the trampoline.

0:10:10 > 0:10:14You were really good at it once you learned how to do it.

0:10:14 > 0:10:17Yes. You were brilliant.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20Brilliant bunny bounces.

0:10:20 > 0:10:25Well, I'm glad everyone enjoyed the story, but now it's time to go.
