0:02:20 > 0:02:23'They aren't allowed to drive on public roads,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25'Testing drivers for over 20 years,

0:03:25 > 0:03:28'there isn't much she doesn't know about road safety.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31'Sandra's keen to find out how bad our drivers really are.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36'Over-confident Andy is in the firing line first,

0:03:36 > 0:03:39'as he comes under pressure trying to park.'

0:03:39 > 0:03:40That's not good.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42'You always this careless, Andy?'

0:03:42 > 0:03:45'In the car with Dad, you feel nervous,'

0:03:45 > 0:03:47like, you're going to die,

0:03:47 > 0:03:50cos he's dangerous and doesn't know how to drive!

0:03:50 > 0:03:53I trained as a jockey when I was young

0:03:53 > 0:03:56and that has a lot to do with my driving.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58Once a jockey, always a jockey.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01'At the Academy, Molly appears cautious

0:04:01 > 0:04:03'and it seems to be working.'

0:04:03 > 0:04:06- Hold it still.- Yey!- Concentrate.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09Good girl. That's better.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11Molls! Keep your hands on the wheel!

0:04:11 > 0:04:15You feel good, really proud of yourself,

0:04:15 > 0:04:18when you're going, steering, and turning around.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22'Eagle-eyed Sandra has put nervy Michelle on edge

0:04:22 > 0:04:24'as she attempts

0:04:24 > 0:04:26'to reverse park into a space.'

0:04:28 > 0:04:32'How far are you from the kerb?! You could get a bus in there!'

0:04:32 > 0:04:35- Will I go again? - See if you can sort it out.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38'Why is she getting so flustered?'

0:04:38 > 0:04:42She started off with one bump, then she had another in the same month

0:04:42 > 0:04:44and now she's awful!

0:04:44 > 0:04:47Jono says I'm a nervous driver.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50I tell him, wait till you drive and see what it's like!

0:04:50 > 0:04:55'Well, Jono is driving and I have to say...he's doing rather well!

0:04:55 > 0:04:58'Are these two definitely related?!'

0:04:58 > 0:05:01- Look at you go!- Doing a nice ten miles an hour!- Oh, yes!

0:05:01 > 0:05:02Well, in a way,

0:05:02 > 0:05:07when I did it myself, my mum's driving looks a bit worse, really!

0:05:08 > 0:05:13'Next up to face the test is speed-loving Cliff.'

0:05:13 > 0:05:17Being honest, I drive faster than I should do.

0:05:17 > 0:05:19Limits are there for a reason.

0:05:19 > 0:05:23If the speed limit is 40 miles per hour, I could be doing 60, maybe.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26He shouldn't speed and go over the limit,

0:05:26 > 0:05:29that's why I'm taking him to Driving Academy.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32'Manisha doesn't have the same problem with speed.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35'But, em...Manisha? Where are you going?'

0:05:35 > 0:05:37Straight, towards me.

0:05:37 > 0:05:40VICKY LAUGHS

0:05:40 > 0:05:41This isn't very straight!

0:05:41 > 0:05:43Now straight, down there.

0:05:43 > 0:05:47The steering was the hardest bit.

0:05:47 > 0:05:51I could control the pedals but steering was quite hard.

0:05:51 > 0:05:53Next time, I'll show I can steer well.

0:05:55 > 0:05:59'Last up for Sandra is green team's careless driver, Sarah.'

0:05:59 > 0:06:03Rhys would say my driving is scary. I prefer to call it 'relaxed.'

0:06:03 > 0:06:06I can rescue this.

0:06:09 > 0:06:10Well, it's a method.

0:06:10 > 0:06:12'Not great but it can't all be bad.'

0:06:12 > 0:06:16I want you to turn your car around to face the opposite way.

0:06:16 > 0:06:18'Oh! Watch that kerb!'

0:06:18 > 0:06:20That wasn't too bad(!)

0:06:20 > 0:06:22Not too bad?! Bless.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25'Sandra's not impressed. Sarah didn't use her mirrors.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28'What does she think they're for?'

0:06:28 > 0:06:31She does her make-up whilst driving.

0:06:31 > 0:06:33She's got her knees up, going...

0:06:33 > 0:06:34Done!

0:06:34 > 0:06:37'That casual style has rubbed off on Rhys.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40'He's really letting loose.'

0:06:40 > 0:06:43Good, and now put on a little gas for me.

0:06:43 > 0:06:45Whoa, off the gas!

0:06:45 > 0:06:47'Slow down, Rhys lightning!'

0:06:47 > 0:06:51- Oof, that's too much, wasn't it? - Yeah.

0:06:51 > 0:06:53I've learnt how easy it is to go fast,

0:06:53 > 0:06:57just by putting your foot down, just a little bit.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00'Our kids had a great first lesson

0:07:00 > 0:07:04'but for our parents, it's a relief it wasn't a real test.

0:07:04 > 0:07:05'The Academy has its work cut out!

0:07:05 > 0:07:09'Examiner Sandra is really concerned about one of our parents.'

0:07:09 > 0:07:13Turn in the road was fine... as long as you didn't mind

0:07:13 > 0:07:16using someone's drive, every kerb there was.

0:07:16 > 0:07:20Just not checking around, making absolutely sure.

0:07:20 > 0:07:22Is it safe for me to move this vehicle?

0:07:22 > 0:07:26The difference between... That could be a kid on a bike.

0:07:26 > 0:07:30I know you think it's a bit funny about the make-up,

0:07:30 > 0:07:35but honestly, there are dead people cos of things like that.

0:07:35 > 0:07:37I pray to God it would never be one of yours.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40'Well, Sandra's strong words have really hit home.'

0:07:40 > 0:07:43Just sad about Rhys. Could have been him.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46Yeah. Exactly.

0:07:46 > 0:07:47'That's lesson one over.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50'Our kids have a lot to learn

0:07:50 > 0:07:53'and their parents are nightmares behind the wheel!

0:07:53 > 0:07:56'This isn't looking good for our Superskills Challenge,

0:07:56 > 0:07:59'when our teams' steering ability will be tested to the limit.'

0:07:59 > 0:08:01I was nearly a crash-test dummy!

0:08:01 > 0:08:03'To stand a chance of passing

0:08:03 > 0:08:07'our teams are going to have to drive a lot better than this.'

0:08:07 > 0:08:09Now for a safety lesson.

0:08:09 > 0:08:12One of the biggest causes for accidents is distraction.

0:08:12 > 0:08:16Worth remembering next time you and your brother row in the back

0:08:16 > 0:08:17as your parents drive.

0:08:17 > 0:08:19Strap in and don't be a dummy!

0:08:25 > 0:08:28'Let me introduce you to the biggest dummy at Driving Academy.

0:08:28 > 0:08:30'We call him Mr Crash for good reason.

0:08:30 > 0:08:33'Whenever he's behind a wheel

0:08:33 > 0:08:37'e can't keep his eyes on the road and it always ends badly.

0:08:37 > 0:08:41'he question is... what's going to distract him today?

0:08:41 > 0:08:42'...on the passenger seat?

0:08:42 > 0:08:44'...in the back?

0:08:44 > 0:08:46'...on the dashboard?

0:08:46 > 0:08:49'What does a dummy need lipbalm for?

0:08:49 > 0:08:51'They all look innocent,

0:08:51 > 0:08:54'but can our teams spot the dangers that they pose?'

0:08:54 > 0:08:55FAMILIES CHATTER

0:08:55 > 0:08:58'This isn't for points so why don't you play too?'

0:08:58 > 0:09:00Lipbalm, there's a map.

0:09:00 > 0:09:04'That's right, Cliff! To check your map, always pull over.'

0:09:04 > 0:09:07Lean behind to get something out of the bag.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10'Nice one, Sarah! Rummaging in your bag, that's a big no-no!'

0:09:10 > 0:09:12The lipstick?

0:09:12 > 0:09:13'What a good spot from Andy.

0:09:13 > 0:09:17'Never leave anything on your dashboard.

0:09:17 > 0:09:21'So, all 3 objects can cause a crash, but which will distract Mr C?

0:09:21 > 0:09:24'Have a guess, while I check for hazards in the road.'

0:09:24 > 0:09:27Someone's left a sheet of glass in the middle of the road.

0:09:27 > 0:09:30That's careless, don't you think?

0:09:30 > 0:09:32Uh-oh! I think Mr C's coming this way.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34Best make a quick exit!

0:09:34 > 0:09:38'Any normal person will see the glass but you never know with Mr C.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41'Chances are though, something'll catch his eye!

0:09:41 > 0:09:45'Remember, all 3 objects can be dangerous.

0:09:45 > 0:09:47'There's a map if he gets lost,

0:09:47 > 0:09:48'his rucksack

0:09:48 > 0:09:51'and a cheeky lipbalm.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53'Last chance to guess.

0:09:53 > 0:09:54'Off he goes.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56'All's looking well.

0:09:56 > 0:10:00'Nice and steady, Mr C. Nice and steady. That's it.

0:10:00 > 0:10:03'No! Mr C! Don't look at your map.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05'WATCH THE GLASS!'

0:10:05 > 0:10:07ALL: Whoa!

0:10:09 > 0:10:11'Did you get it right at home?

0:10:11 > 0:10:13'The map caused the crash.

0:10:13 > 0:10:16'Mr C, you're a lost cause!

0:10:16 > 0:10:18'Mr C is a fully-trained stunt driver

0:10:18 > 0:10:21'and all his crashes are performed by experts.'

0:10:34 > 0:10:36'Stay tuned for our Superskills Challenge,

0:10:36 > 0:10:38'but first, before you go near a car

0:10:38 > 0:10:42'you should learn the rules of the road - the Highway Code.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44'Our teams have been studying furiously

0:14:47 > 0:14:50and they'll crash down on our parents' cars

0:14:50 > 0:14:53and finally, my personal favourite, Car In The Wall.

0:14:53 > 0:14:54Our teams choose to go

0:14:54 > 0:14:57through one of these very tight gaps.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00If they fail, they will face a very mucky forfeit indeed -

0:15:00 > 0:15:02but the rules are simple...

0:15:04 > 0:15:08If a team takes more than five minutes, they fail the challenge.

0:15:08 > 0:15:11If they drive safely and confidently,

0:15:11 > 0:15:13they'll finish with time to spare.

0:15:13 > 0:15:15If anyone drives dangerously,

0:15:15 > 0:15:17they'll be failed by Sandra.

0:15:20 > 0:15:23The Driving Academy's Chief Examiner's word is final.

0:15:23 > 0:15:25If Sandra says fail - there's no arguing!

0:15:25 > 0:15:29What Sandra doesn't know about road safety isn't worth knowing.

0:15:29 > 0:15:31Car control comes from good planning,

0:15:31 > 0:15:35from seeing ahead, from seeing behind, from taking your time.

0:15:35 > 0:15:38You do that and the car control - that just comes naturally.

0:15:38 > 0:15:43The teams had better beware as they take on the Superskills Challenge.

0:15:46 > 0:15:50So they're off. Remember, this challenge is to squeeze through

0:15:50 > 0:15:53the gaps without knocking over more than three obstacles.

0:15:53 > 0:15:55Whilst driving a car, be aware of how big it is -

0:15:55 > 0:15:57that's exactly what this game is testing.

0:15:57 > 0:16:01- OK this side.- The first section is the tricky traffic lights.

0:16:01 > 0:16:04The parents drive through the lights in the right sequence,

0:16:04 > 0:16:09that's red, red/amber, green, amber, red - easy, eh?

0:16:09 > 0:16:13I'm really struggling with my sequence. It's red, red/amber...

0:16:13 > 0:16:16- After that, it'll be green. - Are you sure?

0:16:16 > 0:16:19- Red/orange, you said.- Red/orange. - Red, red/orange...

0:16:19 > 0:16:22- There, there, there, there! Trust me.- All right.

0:16:22 > 0:16:23It's really tight.

0:16:23 > 0:16:25This section tests the parents' car control,

0:16:25 > 0:16:30in particular, their steering and ability to judge distance.

0:16:30 > 0:16:33Oh, that's OK. It looked tight. It's OK.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36Michelle is hoping Jono's picked up enough tips to help her through.

0:16:36 > 0:16:38Now you're going to spin round.

0:16:38 > 0:16:41Oh, you're not going to make that.

0:16:41 > 0:16:44But already she's made a really bad turn!

0:16:46 > 0:16:47Oh, bad luck, Michelle!

0:16:47 > 0:16:51In real life, that light would have caused serious damage to your motor.

0:16:51 > 0:16:54They smashed it up!

0:16:55 > 0:16:58That's one obstacle destroyed by the Blues - two more and they'll fail.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00Haphazard Sarah's using

0:17:00 > 0:17:03the close-your-eyes- and-hope-for-the-best technique,

0:17:03 > 0:17:05not the best way to steer a car.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08It explains why she's approaching our next lights

0:17:08 > 0:17:09from the wrong direction.

0:17:09 > 0:17:11Er, which way round are we going?

0:17:11 > 0:17:17- You're supposed to go...- Yeah. I'm wasting time. Silly, silly me.

0:17:17 > 0:17:20The pressure of the five-minute target

0:17:20 > 0:17:21is getting to one of our teams.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24- Will you please slow down?! - Oh, my goodness!

0:17:24 > 0:17:27- Oh!- Dad, will you please...? - I had to go out to come back...

0:17:27 > 0:17:29We've got a reckless driver on our hands here.

0:17:29 > 0:17:34- Dad, will you...?- Molly, you're all right.- You're going too fast!

0:17:34 > 0:17:38- I'm going all right.- You're not! - We've only got five minutes.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41But whilst Molly's losing it with Andy's speeding,

0:17:41 > 0:17:44our other speeder, Cliff, is showing great car control.

0:17:44 > 0:17:48For somebody who's constantly boasting about going too fast,

0:17:48 > 0:17:50he's actually behaving very well.

0:17:50 > 0:17:53Come on, Dad, we only have five minutes.

0:17:53 > 0:17:56You're always speeding and now you're not going to speed.

0:17:56 > 0:17:59Strangely, she's encouraging him to hurry up.

0:18:03 > 0:18:06- You're going too fast. I don't like it.- We've hit one now.

0:18:06 > 0:18:08You're driving!

0:18:08 > 0:18:11That's one obstacle down for Andy -

0:18:11 > 0:18:14but how can he concentrate with all Molly's arguing?

0:18:14 > 0:18:15I don't know, Dad!

0:18:15 > 0:18:19I said go there, there, there and there, but you wouldn't have it!

0:18:19 > 0:18:23- Can I hear them arguing in the car? - There was a big argument going on.

0:18:23 > 0:18:26This is such a distraction to people's driving and it's not safe.

0:18:26 > 0:18:29You just won't listen to me, will you?

0:18:29 > 0:18:32- I'm sorry, but that was hair-raising. - That was dangerous.

0:18:32 > 0:18:36So that's one obstacle down for the orange team AND the blue team.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39Now the second part of the course for the parents - Agony Archways.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42This section will test our teams' awareness

0:18:42 > 0:18:45and one of my dummies is about to hold up a warning sign.

0:18:47 > 0:18:50Why? Because it's too small, that's why.

0:18:50 > 0:18:52They'll only see it if they look.

0:18:52 > 0:18:55- So where am I going now? - Go through the arches.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58Most of them have missed it completely...

0:18:58 > 0:18:59Come on, give us the go.

0:18:59 > 0:19:03..apart from a certain observant Andy.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05"Do not go through the second archway."

0:19:05 > 0:19:07He's the only one. He's looked in his mirror.

0:19:07 > 0:19:12So whilst he and Molly drive through arches one and three unhampered,

0:19:12 > 0:19:14the others face impossible arch number two.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17- How am I going to get through there? - Extremely tight.

0:19:17 > 0:19:19I ain't going to go through there.

0:19:19 > 0:19:21Sarah's about to knock over her first obstacle.

0:19:21 > 0:19:23That's it. You rev it!

0:19:23 > 0:19:25ENGINE REVS

0:19:25 > 0:19:27Nice of Rhys to offer his mum some support,

0:19:27 > 0:19:29so that's Green's first mistake.

0:19:29 > 0:19:33Michelle's set to knock down her second of the challenge.

0:19:33 > 0:19:36Oh-h, here it goes!

0:19:36 > 0:19:41One more knock-down and the Blues will fail this challenge.

0:19:41 > 0:19:43Cliff's heading for his first mistake.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45Hang on a sec. What's he up to?

0:19:45 > 0:19:49Good man. At least he's seen and taken proper action.

0:19:49 > 0:19:52He's decided to give it a miss. Well done, Cliff.

0:19:52 > 0:19:54No knock-downs yet for the Purple team.

0:19:54 > 0:19:56Are you allowed to miss it?

0:19:56 > 0:19:58- I don't know. Too tight to go through.- Oh!

0:19:58 > 0:20:02For the third and final section, the drivers are swapping.

0:20:02 > 0:20:06It's time for the kids to impress. Will they outshine their parents?

0:20:06 > 0:20:09Whilst Vicky takes up the dual control, the parents get a taste

0:20:09 > 0:20:11of life in the back seat.

0:20:11 > 0:20:13- Be careful now, Molly. - Coming from you!

0:20:13 > 0:20:15This is Car in the Wall.

0:20:15 > 0:20:19The kids must drive through one of these tiny car-shaped gaps

0:20:19 > 0:20:21without knocking the wall down,

0:20:21 > 0:20:25and they need to park up safely before their time runs out.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28So all the pressure is on Rhys now.

0:20:28 > 0:20:31Sarah has already knocked down one of the Agony Arches.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34She also lost a lot of time in the Tricky Traffic Lights...

0:20:34 > 0:20:36I'm wasting time.

0:20:36 > 0:20:39..which means Rhys has just over a minute to finish.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42- Can he do better than his mum? - Slowly, take a look and choose.

0:20:42 > 0:20:43- Erm...- What do you reckon?

0:20:45 > 0:20:47Decision time for Rhys.

0:20:47 > 0:20:50Car control is key here but he has to watch his time.

0:20:50 > 0:20:54He's going for the middle arch.

0:20:54 > 0:20:56- Oh!- That's it. Slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly.

0:20:56 > 0:20:59- Line it up before you go through. - Here he goes.

0:20:59 > 0:21:02- Easy does it.- I didn't knock it down.- Keep going, keep going.

0:21:02 > 0:21:05Amazing! Lucky boy, Rhys, but in real life

0:21:05 > 0:21:10that would have caused some serious damage to your paintwork.

0:21:10 > 0:21:11OK, pressure's on Molly now.

0:21:11 > 0:21:15Dad has knocked down one of the items on the Tricky Traffic Lights,

0:21:15 > 0:21:16but he didn't hang around

0:21:16 > 0:21:20and Molly now has a huge three-and-a-half minutes to finish.

0:21:20 > 0:21:22Let's see if Molly can stop shouting

0:21:22 > 0:21:26and start concentrating on her driving to make it through the wall.

0:21:26 > 0:21:30- Good luck. Break a leg. - Dad, please shut up.

0:21:30 > 0:21:34Molly, you're all right. Just take it easy, darling.

0:21:34 > 0:21:37- You'll have to go quicker. - Dad, I know! I'm trying!

0:21:37 > 0:21:39OK, it's crunch time.

0:21:39 > 0:21:42Molly really needs to keep her cool and keep control of the car.

0:21:42 > 0:21:47- Just stop shouting at me, please! - I haven't shouted at you.

0:21:47 > 0:21:49You're making me so nervous, Dad!

0:21:49 > 0:21:53OK, here she goes. Will she make it? Oooh! Oh!

0:21:53 > 0:21:56- Oh, you're going to hit it. - Dad! Oh, no!

0:21:56 > 0:22:01- Oh, backside!- Whoa, Molls, there's no need for language like that!

0:22:01 > 0:22:02Didn't help her, did he?

0:22:02 > 0:22:06But that's only two knock-downs so they should be OK.

0:22:07 > 0:22:10OK, here goes Manisha and, remember,

0:22:10 > 0:22:12dad Cliff's had no knock-downs.

0:22:12 > 0:22:15But his slow run has left her with just over a minute,

0:22:15 > 0:22:19and we all know she struggles with steering, so fingers crossed.

0:22:19 > 0:22:24Keep turning. Slowly, slowly. Go over there. Don't... Keep going.

0:22:24 > 0:22:27- Third one.- OK. Get yourself a big swing to get in.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30OK, it's decision time. Manisha needs to keep calm

0:22:30 > 0:22:33and try and steer straight through that hole in the wall.

0:22:33 > 0:22:36- Oh, Dad!- Go through it. - It doesn't go.- Straight!

0:22:36 > 0:22:38- Straight, straight! Aggh!- Oh, my God!

0:22:42 > 0:22:46Oh, no, she really panicked there,

0:22:46 > 0:22:49but that's only one knock-down for the Purple team.

0:22:49 > 0:22:52Finally it's Jono.

0:22:52 > 0:22:55Nervous driver Michelle has already had two major knock-downs.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58She's left him with one minute to complete the course.

0:22:58 > 0:23:00If he runs out of time or knocks down the wall,

0:23:00 > 0:23:03they'll fail, so no pressure, then, Jono!

0:23:03 > 0:23:05- Do you fancy that one?- All right.

0:23:05 > 0:23:07It's all on this moment.

0:23:07 > 0:23:09Good. Well done. That's it. Gently.

0:23:09 > 0:23:13- Very good.- I'm quite small and I can barely see anything.

0:23:13 > 0:23:14Oh, it's not looking good.

0:23:14 > 0:23:17Blues, you have a mucky forfeit coming your way.

0:23:17 > 0:23:19Move your steering over to the...

0:23:19 > 0:23:22Hang on a minute- looks like he's going to make it.

0:23:22 > 0:23:25I tell you what. I don't understand how that arch is staying up.

0:23:25 > 0:23:28That's just two obstacles down for the Blue team.

0:23:28 > 0:23:32None of the teams have knocked down more than two obstacles -

0:23:32 > 0:23:36all they need to do now is park up safely within the target time.

0:23:36 > 0:23:37Aggh!

0:23:37 > 0:23:39Oh-h! Easy on the brakes, Molly.

0:23:39 > 0:23:42Finally, Manisha comes in to land. Oooh!

0:23:42 > 0:23:45Whoa! Oooh-hoo-hoo!

0:23:45 > 0:23:48Oh, had to put the brakes on then.

0:23:48 > 0:23:52I was nearly a crash test dummy down there, weren't I?

0:23:52 > 0:23:57That is not good. Vicky had to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident.

0:23:57 > 0:24:00It's all down to Sandra to decide what's a pass and what's a fail.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04Firstly, I think that was a tough task,

0:24:04 > 0:24:07so I think, all in all, that was quite well done.

0:24:07 > 0:24:11The traffic-light sequence, that went awry, I'm afraid.

0:24:11 > 0:24:13Remember scraping through the hole in the wall?

0:24:13 > 0:24:17- Yeah.- In real life, you would have scraped your car.

0:24:17 > 0:24:21- Today, we're going to scrape you a pass, so congratulations.- Thanks.

0:24:21 > 0:24:24That's pass mark No.1. Good stuff.

0:24:24 > 0:24:28One of the obstacles we hit was a traffic light. We crushed it.

0:24:28 > 0:24:32I could see this coming cos I knew my mum is not amazing at driving,

0:24:32 > 0:24:33at this moment in time.

0:24:33 > 0:24:36I'd like to, basically, do better for both of us,

0:24:36 > 0:24:41but to prove to Jono that I can do a lot better than we've just done.

0:24:42 > 0:24:44Rhys, how do you think your mum done?

0:24:44 > 0:24:48She did OK, but she did go through the traffic lights the wrong way.

0:24:48 > 0:24:51She did actually rectify it, however,

0:24:51 > 0:24:54I do recall you hearing you say something about a trick

0:24:54 > 0:24:57through the arch, nobody could get through.

0:24:57 > 0:24:59How can I get through? Reckon you can't?

0:24:59 > 0:25:03If you'd looked in your mirror before you set off, you would have seen

0:25:03 > 0:25:06a special message telling you not to attempt it.

0:25:06 > 0:25:12So the bad news is, you're out of time by five seconds.

0:25:12 > 0:25:15Bad luck, Rhys and Sarah, but rules are rules.

0:25:15 > 0:25:19She took three turns to go through the traffic lights.

0:25:19 > 0:25:23If I hadn't positioned myself wrong for the red light,

0:25:23 > 0:25:26he'd have passed. Sorry, Rhys.

0:25:26 > 0:25:28How do you think it went?

0:25:28 > 0:25:32- Molly did good, when she knocked the wall down.- Thanks, Dad.

0:25:32 > 0:25:34You argued when you came through,

0:25:34 > 0:25:38when you went through the arch and when you swapped the seats.

0:25:38 > 0:25:41- What does arguing end up in?- Crash. - Disaster.

0:25:41 > 0:25:46Most importantly, you looked in the mirror and saw the message,

0:25:46 > 0:25:49so I have to congratulate you for that.

0:25:49 > 0:25:53Technically, you've passed. So I'm going to say you've passed.

0:25:53 > 0:25:56But your behaviour and attitude

0:25:56 > 0:26:00and the way you are together in the car needs to be so much better.

0:26:00 > 0:26:04You scraped that pass, but you need to sort out your attitude.

0:26:04 > 0:26:07We went really fast and crashed into a lot of stuff.

0:26:07 > 0:26:09I still don't know how we passed.

0:26:09 > 0:26:14It's difficult trying to drive while someone's in your earhole...

0:26:14 > 0:26:18I won't lie, Cliff, we had our concerns about your speed.

0:26:18 > 0:26:22I had to keep turning, so I couldn't build up my speed.

0:26:22 > 0:26:24We agreed that you'd keep to your speed.

0:26:24 > 0:26:29But you were encouraging him to speed. "Come on, Dad!"

0:26:29 > 0:26:33Don't encourage him. What happened when we came to the stop?

0:26:33 > 0:26:36She stopped for you. You have to get control.

0:26:36 > 0:26:39Sorry, but it's too serious to ignore,

0:26:39 > 0:26:41so I'm afraid you haven't passed.

0:26:41 > 0:26:46Sorry, but dangerous driving cannot be tolerated here at the Academy.

0:26:46 > 0:26:49When we had to stop and park, I didn't brake.

0:26:49 > 0:26:52I was panicking, thinking, "Is there time left?"

0:26:52 > 0:26:56When she was driving towards the dummy, I wanted to shout,

0:26:56 > 0:26:59"Press the brakes, stop the car!"

0:27:04 > 0:27:07So, let's get down to the business end of things.

0:27:07 > 0:27:11I'd like to hand a pass to Molly and Andy. Congratulations.

0:27:11 > 0:27:16Secondly, I'd like to hand out a pass to Jono and Michelle.

0:27:16 > 0:27:19As for you guys, you have a forfeit.

0:27:19 > 0:27:23Here are your toothbrushes, there's your cars and buckets.

0:27:23 > 0:27:27I need it clean. Thank you.

0:27:27 > 0:27:31Next time, Driving Academy sets more challenges for kids

0:27:31 > 0:27:34to help improve their parents' shocking driving.

0:27:34 > 0:27:37The teams tackle the tricky issue of reversing.

0:27:37 > 0:27:40Our rookies drive up close with a few traffic cones.

0:27:40 > 0:27:45Mr C wallops his way through more distractions at the wheel.

0:27:45 > 0:27:49And we've got a football-themed Superskills Challenge.

0:27:52 > 0:27:57In just nine days' time, our teams will face the ultimate driving test.

0:27:57 > 0:27:59Join us next time on Driving Academy.

0:27:59 > 0:28:01Until then, stay safe!

0:28:01 > 0:28:05- Can't do this again tomorrow, Rhys. - I know.- Come on, clean it.

0:28:05 > 0:28:09- It'll be Andy and Molly tomorrow. - Look at your car, Dad!

0:28:09 > 0:28:11This is terrible.

0:28:14 > 0:28:17It's just getting muddier!

0:28:21 > 0:28:22SMASH!

0:28:22 > 0:28:25Dad, I didn't say go there, did I?
