0:00:14 > 0:00:16the ultimate driving test and our chief examiner, Sandra.

0:00:16 > 0:00:21Last time, there were bumpy rides for our rookies,

0:00:21 > 0:00:25chaotic driving from the academy's most careless dummy, Mr C,

0:00:25 > 0:00:28and some reckless driving from our parents

0:00:28 > 0:00:31- when they faced the Ramp Of Doom! - THEY SCREAM

0:00:31 > 0:00:33Will our dangerous drivers ever make the grade

0:00:33 > 0:00:36and be ready in just a few days?

0:00:36 > 0:00:41It's day seven... at the Driving Academy!

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Welcome to CBBC's Driving Academy,

0:00:49 > 0:00:52here in the beautiful St Athan Wells.

0:00:52 > 0:00:53Time is running out to get

0:00:53 > 0:00:56our teams ready to take on the ultimate driving test in three days.

0:00:56 > 0:01:00Time is of an essence! Let's go!

0:01:00 > 0:01:03Where you going?! Forward! Forward!

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Coming up... Watch out! Our rookies are in line

0:01:06 > 0:01:10for a few hazardous surprises on the road.

0:01:10 > 0:01:11Careful, Mr C!

0:01:14 > 0:01:16And look out!

0:01:16 > 0:01:20Our teams will need to be really snappy to bag today's pass.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23- I know what I took photos of! - You didn't, Dad.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25Don't miss our Superskills Challenge

0:01:25 > 0:01:28which will test our teams' hazard awareness to the limit.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30But first it's the Learner Lesson.

0:01:32 > 0:01:33Each day at the Academy

0:01:33 > 0:01:37we have been teaching our rookies a different element of road safety

0:01:37 > 0:01:39so they can pass the tips on to their parents.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Today is about spotting hazards.

0:01:42 > 0:01:46Although our rookies can't drive on public roads,

0:01:46 > 0:01:50here at the Academy's top-secret test centre, anything is possible.

0:01:50 > 0:01:54In charge of our learner lessons is elite driving instructor, Vicky.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57She knows every angle of road safety.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59Throughout, Vicky has a set of dual controls,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01so our rookies are always safe.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03First up is Manisha.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05She's going have to stay alert,

0:02:05 > 0:02:08as we've placed three potential hazards along a short road.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11There's a dummy on a bicycle, a workman with a lorry

0:02:11 > 0:02:14and a dummy opening a car door without a care in the world!

0:02:14 > 0:02:18Her first obstacle is our wobbly cyclist.

0:02:18 > 0:02:22Manisha's struggled with steering, so our dummies are feeling nervous.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24Stay away from him.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27Whoa! Watch out, Manisha!

0:02:27 > 0:02:32- You've got to leave enough space, if he wobbles.- OK.- All right?

0:02:32 > 0:02:36- Look for him in your mirrors. Are you all right?- Yep.- OK.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40Next is our hidden hazard - the truck driver...

0:02:40 > 0:02:42- Can you see the feet underneath the lorry?- Yeah.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46- So who might come out?- A person.- So you've got to be a door's width away.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49A good, wide pass... no panic - good stuff!

0:02:50 > 0:02:53Finally, it's our dopey dummy in the car.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55Good girl, well done.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58Spotting hazards will be essential for our Superskills later,

0:02:58 > 0:03:02so it's vital Manisha picks up as many tips as she can.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06I've learned that when you have to overtake any vehicle, any pedestrian

0:03:06 > 0:03:10or cyclist, you should always keep a door width away from them.

0:03:10 > 0:03:15Good tip! Those wise words would be good to pass onto your dad, Cliff.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19He came here as a speedy driver, but we've made some improvements,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22as he's started to take his foot off the gas.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24With a dodgy start, the Purples are back in the game

0:03:24 > 0:03:29with an impressive three passes over the last three days.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32OK, here comes Rhys. He needs to stay alert.

0:03:32 > 0:03:36- Don't come in.- I won't.- Look for him in your mirror before you come in.

0:03:36 > 0:03:41Nice, safe pass of the cyclist. Now the hidden hazard behind the truck.

0:03:41 > 0:03:42Leave the lorry some space.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45The truck, Rhys! Rhys! Whoa!

0:03:47 > 0:03:51And then a door's width for the car.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55Hey, Rhys, where are you going?!

0:03:55 > 0:03:59I got quite close to the open door, and felt scared

0:03:59 > 0:04:01that I was going to knock the door off.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03A bit close?! You were miles away!

0:04:03 > 0:04:05Better safe than sorry.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08More than can be said for Sarah when she came to the Academy.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11Safe driving was not on her agenda.

0:04:11 > 0:04:13Well, it's a method.

0:04:13 > 0:04:18With just three passes out of six, the Greens have a lot of work to do.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21OK, here comes Jono. I'm sure this would worry his mum Michelle,

0:04:21 > 0:04:25but I have a feeling this won't faze Jono.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28Keep going until you can see the bike in the mirror.

0:04:28 > 0:04:33The hidden dummy up next. A bit tight to that truck, Jono.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38Safely past, and just the parked car left.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43- Not too wide, because there might be a car coming the other way.- Easy!

0:04:43 > 0:04:45When the dummy stepped out, it reminded me

0:04:45 > 0:04:49that you have to look out for everything on the road.

0:04:49 > 0:04:54Let's hope super-cool Jono remembers the advice from Vicky

0:04:54 > 0:04:57and passes it onto his mum for our Superskills later.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59Despite her nerves, Michelle has helped Jono secure

0:04:59 > 0:05:03a whopping five out of six passes so far.

0:05:03 > 0:05:07Last up is Molly, our most unpredictable young driver.

0:05:07 > 0:05:11- And go past him.- I'm scared.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14I don't want to do this. What if he wobbles in front of the car?!

0:05:14 > 0:05:17Let's just say Molly's been a bit jumpy

0:05:17 > 0:05:19on several occasions at the Academy.

0:05:19 > 0:05:23Hopefully, we've taught her to be a lot calmer, therefore a lot safer.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26And if she does well in the lesson, she may be able to help her dad

0:05:26 > 0:05:30secure their fifth pass in the series. Wobbly cyclist up first.

0:05:30 > 0:05:31What you doing?

0:05:31 > 0:05:33Uh-oh, very nervous.

0:05:33 > 0:05:38- Oh, my gosh.- Look for him in the mirror.- He's gone.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40You need to look ahead, Molly!

0:05:40 > 0:05:43Try not leave any surprises on the road.

0:05:43 > 0:05:44THAT was a surprise!

0:05:44 > 0:05:48- Oh, I don't like this.- Keep going. - Oh, I really don't like it.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50I'm on the wrong side of the road!

0:05:50 > 0:05:54Learner Lesson completed. Let's hope they remember what they've learned.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57They'll need all the help they can get

0:05:57 > 0:06:00to spot the dangers in the Superskills Hazard Highway!

0:06:02 > 0:06:05But first, what's got four wheels, plenty of dents,

0:06:05 > 0:06:08and likes to crash into everything it sees?

0:06:08 > 0:06:13It's Mr C's crash test car. Don't be like Mr C - don't be a dummy!

0:06:17 > 0:06:21Let me introduce you to the most easily distracted dummy

0:06:21 > 0:06:24at the Academy. His name is Mr Crash, and with good reason.

0:06:24 > 0:06:26When he gets behind the wheel

0:06:26 > 0:06:30he never pays attention, and that always ends in disaster.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33But what's going to distract him today?

0:06:33 > 0:06:36There's his jacket on the passenger seat,

0:06:36 > 0:06:40he has his favourite CD with him... And who's this on the dashboard?

0:06:40 > 0:06:43It's Mr C's lucky teddy! Awww!

0:06:43 > 0:06:46First our teams get a look around the car, to try and work out

0:06:46 > 0:06:50which potential distractions will cause Mr C to crash.

0:06:50 > 0:06:54This isn't for points, so play along at home.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57It's a bit chilly. He'll perhaps put his jacket on.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00- He'll move the steering wheel putting his jacket on.- Ah, yeah!

0:07:00 > 0:07:04Good spot, Molly. Let's hope Mr C isn't that foolish.

0:07:04 > 0:07:08It would be very dangerous to put on any extra clothing whilst driving.

0:07:08 > 0:07:12I think CD, cos you don't ever change the radio. Do you think?

0:07:12 > 0:07:14Absolutely, Sarah.

0:07:14 > 0:07:18If Mr C changes the CD, his eyes could be off the road.

0:07:18 > 0:07:19Or teddy bear.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22Michelle's right. It may seem harmless,

0:07:22 > 0:07:26but if Mr C brakes suddenly, that could go under his brake pedal.

0:07:26 > 0:07:29Never leave anything loose on your dashboard.

0:07:29 > 0:07:31While our teams ponder what the distraction is,

0:07:31 > 0:07:33I think I've just enough time

0:07:33 > 0:07:36to finish a DIY project that I've been working on.

0:07:38 > 0:07:42There you go! I'm really proud of myself. It looks amazing.

0:07:42 > 0:07:43What do you think, Mr C?

0:07:43 > 0:07:46Mr C! No, Mr C!

0:07:46 > 0:07:48Please don't get distracted, Mr C!

0:07:48 > 0:07:51Remember, all three objects can be dangerous.

0:07:51 > 0:07:53He's left a jacket on the passenger seat,

0:07:53 > 0:07:56he's got CDs of his favourite driving music

0:07:56 > 0:07:58and a friend on the dashboard.

0:07:58 > 0:08:02He's off. Nice and steady, Mr C. Don't get distracted.

0:08:02 > 0:08:04That's what I like to see.

0:08:04 > 0:08:07Oh, no! He's distracted! He's looking at the CD player!

0:08:07 > 0:08:11Watch out for my shed!

0:08:15 > 0:08:19Did you guess right at home? He was fiddling with his CD player.

0:08:19 > 0:08:22Mr C's distracted again. The same old record!

0:08:22 > 0:08:24Mr C is a fully-trained stunt driver

0:08:24 > 0:08:27and these crashes are performed by experts.

0:08:27 > 0:08:29Don't be a dummy. Don't try this at home!

0:08:50 > 0:08:56Superskills Seven is coming up very soon, and you don't want to miss it.

0:08:56 > 0:08:58- I know what I've took photos of! - Do you, Dad?

0:08:58 > 0:09:01But first, before you can even go near a car,

0:09:01 > 0:09:04you need to learn the rules of the road, the Highway Code,

0:09:04 > 0:09:06and our teams have been studying furiously

0:09:06 > 0:09:11for the next part of our show, the Highway Quiz.

0:09:11 > 0:09:13Today's game is Hazard A Guess.

0:09:13 > 0:09:15I'm going to give you five hazard signs,

0:09:15 > 0:09:18and I want you to draw them the way you think they look.

0:09:18 > 0:09:22You need to get three out of five right to win the Highway Quiz badge.

0:09:22 > 0:09:23ALL: Ooh!

0:09:23 > 0:09:28On cue, as well! So, the first hazard I want you to draw me is...

0:09:33 > 0:09:37You may see this sign along country roads with no pavements.

0:09:37 > 0:09:41Make sure the driver slows down to avoid anyone in the road ahead.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44This is what it should have looked like.

0:09:45 > 0:09:48- Yeah!- You all sound pretty confident.

0:09:48 > 0:09:49So, Rhys?

0:09:49 > 0:09:51Yeah, that's good enough.

0:09:51 > 0:09:54Manisha, I'm going to have to say that's not correct.

0:09:54 > 0:09:57Jono, again that's not correct.

0:09:57 > 0:10:00- Andy and Molly, I mean, come on! - It's kind of close!

0:10:00 > 0:10:02You know what? That's correct.

0:10:04 > 0:10:07I would like you to draw me the hazard sign for Slippery Road.

0:10:08 > 0:10:13Again, this sign's telling drivers to take care and slow down.

0:10:13 > 0:10:15Whether due to road surface or weather,

0:10:15 > 0:10:17losing control is not what you want to do.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20There's a big clue, actually, right behind you.

0:10:20 > 0:10:22This is what it should have looked like.

0:10:22 > 0:10:27- Yay!- OK, Rhys, yeah, that's correct.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29Manisha, well done, that's correct.

0:10:29 > 0:10:32Jono, yours looks a bit like a train, but I'll let you have it.

0:10:32 > 0:10:36Andy and Molly, all right, fair do's, I'll let you have that one.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38So you're all correct. Well done.

0:10:38 > 0:10:42The next hazard sign I'd like you to draw for me is...

0:10:46 > 0:10:48This means wild animals could be in the area,

0:10:48 > 0:10:50so stay alert and drop that speed.

0:10:50 > 0:10:54Remember, teams need to get three out of five right to win that badge.

0:10:54 > 0:10:57So, this is what it should have looked like.

0:10:57 > 0:11:01- Yay!- I don't know why some of you are cheering!

0:11:01 > 0:11:03Right, Rhys.

0:11:03 > 0:11:06- Antlers!- Yeah, it's not the best drawing of a deer I've ever seen

0:11:06 > 0:11:10but it's kind of there, so that's correct. Well done.

0:11:10 > 0:11:13Manisha, actually, yours looks a little bit like an ant!

0:11:13 > 0:11:17I can see a bit of deer in it, so I'll give you that. That's correct.

0:11:17 > 0:11:19Jono, that's good enough. I'll give you that.

0:11:19 > 0:11:23Molly and Andy, if I ever saw a deer like that, I'd run the other way.

0:11:23 > 0:11:26It hasn't got no antlers, so I'm going to have to say that's a fail.

0:11:29 > 0:11:31OK, the next hazard sign to draw is:

0:11:35 > 0:11:36A level crossing

0:11:36 > 0:11:40is where a road crosses with a railway or tramway line.

0:11:40 > 0:11:43They can be dangerous, so obey the instructions shown.

0:11:43 > 0:11:46This is what it should have looked like.

0:11:46 > 0:11:50- Yes!- So, Rhys, yours looks like an X.

0:11:50 > 0:11:53Manisha, great attempt. Correct.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55Jono, again, I think you're a bit out.

0:11:55 > 0:12:01Molly and Andy, that's more like an underground train.

0:12:01 > 0:12:02Half a point.

0:12:02 > 0:12:05The next hazard sign I'd like you to draw for me is:

0:12:07 > 0:12:11If you see this sign, slow down and give way to those crossing ahead.

0:12:11 > 0:12:15Molly and Jono really need to get this one right to get the badge.

0:12:15 > 0:12:17This is what it should have looked like.

0:12:17 > 0:12:19- Yes!- Let's have a little look.

0:12:19 > 0:12:23So, Rhys, again, you're doing really, really well. That's correct.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26Manisha, brilliant again. Well done.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28Jono, that's a fail. I'm really sorry.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30- Molly and Andy... - It is a type of crossing!

0:12:30 > 0:12:34I'm not going to give you a point or half a point. I'm giving nothing.

0:12:34 > 0:12:39- Thanks, mate(!)- So, I can tell you there were two winners.

0:12:39 > 0:12:40I think you know who they are.

0:12:40 > 0:12:44Rhys, very well done. You can add that one to your collection.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46Manisha, you add that to your collection. Well done.

0:12:46 > 0:12:48Good work, teams. Keep revising,

0:12:48 > 0:12:52as the Highway Quiz Show game is coming up in just three days.

0:12:52 > 0:12:55The moment has arrived. It's Superskills Challenge time,

0:12:55 > 0:12:58when we put everything our teams have learnt to the test big time.

0:12:58 > 0:13:01Today's challenge is called:

0:13:01 > 0:13:04Our teams will drive along the Hazard Highway.

0:13:04 > 0:13:07Along this road we have set up a number of possible hazards,

0:13:07 > 0:13:09all marked with a question mark.

0:13:10 > 0:13:14Ten of them develop into dangers. The rest of them remain safe.

0:13:14 > 0:13:18The teams are only allowed to take ten photographs,

0:13:18 > 0:13:21and they need to get seven of the genuine hazards right to pass.

0:13:21 > 0:13:26The punishment for failing is a mucky forfeit. Urghhhh!

0:13:26 > 0:13:29And our chief examiner, Sandra, is going to be watching over everybody,

0:13:29 > 0:13:33making sure they're driving safely, because nothing gets past her.

0:13:35 > 0:13:38Meet Sandra, the Driving Academy's chief examiner,

0:13:38 > 0:13:42a no-nonsense lady with an eagle eye for road safety.

0:13:42 > 0:13:45What Sandra doesn't know about road safety isn't worth knowing.

0:13:45 > 0:13:49Hazards are there, and you need to notice them and plan for them.

0:13:49 > 0:13:53The teams better beware as they take on Superskills number seven.

0:13:57 > 0:14:00First onto the Hazard Highway is Rhys and Sarah.

0:14:00 > 0:14:04- Right, men at work. Men working. - Do you think that could be a hazard?

0:14:04 > 0:14:07- Men at work, yeah. - Cos they're working.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10Nice work, Sarah. Molly and Andy now.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12- I can see a man working. - Yeah, the roadworks.

0:14:12 > 0:14:15You should take a picture, because that can be a danger.

0:14:15 > 0:14:19- I don't know if it is a hazard, is it?- Well, I think it is.

0:14:19 > 0:14:23- All right, I'll take a photo. - Cos he might come out on the road.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25- OK, got him.- Well done, guys. Over to Cliff and Manisha.

0:14:25 > 0:14:29OK, we'll leave that one. He's a good lad. He's not doing anything.

0:14:29 > 0:14:31Oh, watch, that's a hazard.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34- Hazard! Take it! - Yeah, I took a picture of that one.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37- Water's a hazard, isn't it?- It can be.

0:14:37 > 0:14:41- It's not a hazard.- Urgh!- Oh, that WAS a hazard. We were right.

0:14:41 > 0:14:44That's all over the car! The driver needs to slow down,

0:14:44 > 0:14:47make sure they're not skimming and aquaplaning.

0:14:47 > 0:14:51- I wonder what Michelle and Jono will make of it.- So, workmen.

0:14:51 > 0:14:53I reckon not.

0:14:53 > 0:14:56- No, I don't think so.- There's plenty of building sites nowadays.

0:14:56 > 0:14:59No problem. That's no problem.

0:14:59 > 0:15:03"No problem"? That dummy has just sprayed water all over your car!

0:15:03 > 0:15:08Michelle was a nervous wreck after having two accidents in one month.

0:15:08 > 0:15:11Perhaps her failure to spot hazards is letting her down.

0:15:11 > 0:15:14Let's see what she makes of a gorilla in the road.

0:15:14 > 0:15:16- Right, Jono, this is definitely a hazard.- Yeah.

0:15:16 > 0:15:20So stop, then I can take a picture.

0:15:20 > 0:15:22Phew! They got that one. Purples next.

0:15:22 > 0:15:27He's in the road, so he's a hazard, a gorilla. I'll take his picture.

0:15:27 > 0:15:31- Two. He's throwing bananas at us, so that's a hazard.- Yeah.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34In real life, it wouldn't be a gorilla, let's be honest,

0:15:34 > 0:15:35but it could be a dog.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37Oh, is that a hazard?

0:15:37 > 0:15:40- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:15:40 > 0:15:41I got him.

0:15:41 > 0:15:44- Monkey in the road. - Yeah, take a picture.

0:15:44 > 0:15:49Picture two, monkey lobbing bananas at us.

0:15:49 > 0:15:52What's next on the Hazard Highway?

0:15:52 > 0:15:55- Molly and Andy are about to find out.- Take a picture.

0:15:55 > 0:15:58- I've took it. What's that? - Tree trunk.

0:15:58 > 0:16:02- He might drop it.- Yeah, that is a hazard, cos he could drop it.

0:16:02 > 0:16:04- Do you want me to stop?- Got it.

0:16:04 > 0:16:07- Man with a tree. - That could fall.

0:16:07 > 0:16:10Right, picture three, the man with the log.

0:16:10 > 0:16:13- A guy with a log. - Depends whether it's coming our way.

0:16:13 > 0:16:15Erm...

0:16:15 > 0:16:17- Here's a falling tree. - A falling log!

0:16:17 > 0:16:22- You can drive round it. - Yeah?- Not a hazard.

0:16:23 > 0:16:25Not a hazard?! Honestly, Michelle,

0:16:25 > 0:16:27a falling tree or log could be fatal!

0:16:27 > 0:16:29Now, what's Cliff spotted?

0:16:29 > 0:16:33There's an ambulance. What happened? Is it an accident? Be careful.

0:16:33 > 0:16:37- No, that's not a hazard. - It is a potential hazard.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40They're not affecting your driving at the moment, so that's OK. OK.

0:16:40 > 0:16:44Well done, guys. In this case, the ambulance is out of the way

0:16:44 > 0:16:46so there's no need to get a picture of it.

0:16:46 > 0:16:50Looks like Sarah and Rhys have spotted something else.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53- There's toxic waste.- Yeah, toxic waste would be number four.

0:16:53 > 0:16:56Great work there from the greens.

0:16:56 > 0:16:59- Oh, toxic waste!- You think that's a hazard, do you?- Yeah, course it is.

0:16:59 > 0:17:01OK, let me...

0:17:01 > 0:17:03If it wasn't for Jono,

0:17:03 > 0:17:06Michelle would have skipped the toxic waste in the road!

0:17:06 > 0:17:08What about the Purples?

0:17:08 > 0:17:10Oh, there is a spillage. That's a hazard.

0:17:10 > 0:17:13This is obvious, really. It's a toxic spillage.

0:17:13 > 0:17:17But you know, diesel is very, very dangerous for motorcyclists

0:17:17 > 0:17:19and people on bicycles.

0:17:19 > 0:17:21Now there's a hazard, right there in the road.

0:17:21 > 0:17:27- Yeah.- I'll take a photo of that. - Dad, do you want me to stop here?

0:17:27 > 0:17:29- No, I've done it.- But that one! - Which one?- That one!

0:17:29 > 0:17:31- That's a car crash.- No, there!

0:17:31 > 0:17:35- I've done it! I've just took a photo of that!- You didn't, Dad.

0:17:35 > 0:17:37I know what I've took photos of!

0:17:37 > 0:17:40Oh, dear. Andy and Molly are falling out again.

0:17:40 > 0:17:43You may remember they argued through Superskills One,

0:17:43 > 0:17:46and got a stern telling-off from examiner Sandra as well.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49So she won't be pleased about this!

0:17:49 > 0:17:53- Molly and Andy arguing? I never(!)- Yeah.

0:17:53 > 0:17:58In the meantime, Jono's imagination is getting the better of him!

0:17:58 > 0:18:02I reckon that barrel's on fire there, so take a picture of that.

0:18:02 > 0:18:05Oh! No, that's right. You think it's a hazard?

0:18:05 > 0:18:08Yeah. You knock into a deer, it'll damage your car.

0:18:08 > 0:18:09Yeah, that is true.

0:18:09 > 0:18:13There's a deer running out into the road. That's a horrible thing.

0:18:13 > 0:18:15- Yeah, it's a big animal to hit the car.- Certainly is.

0:18:15 > 0:18:17Oh, there's a deer!

0:18:17 > 0:18:22- You took it?- Yeah. I can't really get it from here.

0:18:22 > 0:18:25Well, that's an interesting shot from Andy.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28And now it's swap time, parents in the driving seats,

0:18:28 > 0:18:30kids behind the lens.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32Let's see how many of their ten available photos

0:18:32 > 0:18:34they've already used up.

0:18:36 > 0:18:38But have they taken shots of real hazards?

0:18:38 > 0:18:42Or have they wasted some on things that aren't dangerous?

0:18:42 > 0:18:44Here goes Cliff and Manisha.

0:18:44 > 0:18:47Have they enough shots left to snap the remaining hazards?

0:18:47 > 0:18:49We've seen the parked car, Manisha,

0:18:49 > 0:18:52- that's not a hazard cos it's just parked on the side, OK?- OK.

0:18:52 > 0:18:56That's right, Cliff, and here's Sandra's parked car top tip.

0:18:56 > 0:19:00Always check and make sure that there's nobody in that car,

0:19:00 > 0:19:03- because if there is somebody, they could open the door on you.- Yeah.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05OK, what's that up ahead?

0:19:05 > 0:19:07Now, there's a dummy with the ball,

0:19:07 > 0:19:10- that's a hazard. - OK, I'll take a picture of it.

0:19:10 > 0:19:14- Got that.- Yeah, that's definitely a hazard, Jono.

0:19:14 > 0:19:15Nice one.

0:19:16 > 0:19:20- Is that the car? - No, that's the ball.- The ball.

0:19:20 > 0:19:21Anyone else?

0:19:21 > 0:19:23- If I stop, you can go over there. - Don't worry.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26Take a picture of the ball.

0:19:26 > 0:19:28Here goes the ball. In real life,

0:19:28 > 0:19:31it wouldn't be that size, but a ball across the road,

0:19:31 > 0:19:33- that's a danger that could be followed by a child.- Exactly.

0:19:33 > 0:19:37- OK, then, they're arguing. - Yeah, let's take it as a hazard.

0:19:37 > 0:19:39- They could push each other into the road.- Good point!

0:19:39 > 0:19:43- We've got these people fighting. - Yeah.- Shall we shout at them?

0:19:43 > 0:19:46- Stop fighting!- Stop fighting! Shall we stop and help them?

0:19:48 > 0:19:49No, Andy.

0:19:49 > 0:19:52- Seven's people fighting. - Right, I'll take a picture.

0:19:52 > 0:19:56Sarah's definitely focused on getting another pass for the Greens.

0:19:56 > 0:19:59So far everyone's decided that the fighting motorists are a hazard.

0:19:59 > 0:20:01Surely Michelle will agree?

0:20:01 > 0:20:05Well, these guys could run out in front of the road.

0:20:05 > 0:20:09It wouldn't be very clever. Yeah, that's a hazard.

0:20:09 > 0:20:13Well, we can go round them. They're not going now. That's not a hazard.

0:20:13 > 0:20:16Jono and Michelle disagree. What will Michelle think IS a hazard?

0:20:16 > 0:20:18An erupting volcano?!

0:20:18 > 0:20:19What's Andy seen?

0:20:19 > 0:20:22Is that a boy on a bike? That's a hazard.

0:20:23 > 0:20:25Nice shot, Moll, but is he a hazard?

0:20:25 > 0:20:30There's a little dummy on the bike, but he's not affecting us.

0:20:30 > 0:20:31What do the Greens think?

0:20:31 > 0:20:34- How about that kid on the bike? - Yeah, kid on the bike.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37The child on the bike is actually one of our red herrings.

0:20:37 > 0:20:40The child is actually cycling away from the situation,

0:20:40 > 0:20:43so that's why they're not actually counting it.

0:20:43 > 0:20:45It's always handy to keep your eye on kids,

0:20:45 > 0:20:47cos you never know what kids are thinking.

0:20:47 > 0:20:49They might change their mind and shoot across the road.

0:20:49 > 0:20:51Absolutely, Joe, absolutely.

0:20:51 > 0:20:53It definitely pays to stay alert, guys.

0:20:53 > 0:20:56Truck's reversing! Manisha, hazard! Get it.

0:20:56 > 0:20:58Yep, got it.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01- This is definitely a hazard. - I've got it.

0:21:01 > 0:21:04At least Michelle and Jono can agree on this one!

0:21:04 > 0:21:08See? Get a photo of that.

0:21:08 > 0:21:09Great!

0:21:09 > 0:21:12- Eight, the lorry. It's got its lights on.- There we go.

0:21:12 > 0:21:14Good spot, Sarah.

0:21:14 > 0:21:17Reverse lights are a giveaway that a lorry can back up at any time.

0:21:17 > 0:21:20- Oh!- What's he doing? - We've got a workman here.

0:21:20 > 0:21:23- He's trying to cross the road. - He's a work dummy.- Here we go!

0:21:23 > 0:21:26That's a hazard! Take the picture.

0:21:26 > 0:21:29Oh, there's been a big ball spillage,

0:21:29 > 0:21:31lots of red balls going across the road.

0:21:31 > 0:21:32That's a very dangerous hazard,

0:21:32 > 0:21:34- That wheelbarrow!- Wheelbarrow.

0:21:34 > 0:21:37- Let's get a photo of the wheelbarrow.- Orange team got it.

0:21:37 > 0:21:39Yeah. Man with the balls.

0:21:40 > 0:21:43There's no way Michelle can ignore this one!

0:21:43 > 0:21:46Guy with a wheelbarrow looks a bit shifty.

0:21:46 > 0:21:50- She's thinking about it!- Is he going to come out in front of us?

0:21:50 > 0:21:53Oh, no, no, no, not too bad. Not a hazard.

0:21:53 > 0:21:56Not a hazard!? Again?!

0:21:56 > 0:21:59Michelle's confidence may have grown at the Driving Academy,

0:21:59 > 0:22:03but this just goes to show that there's plenty more work to be done.

0:22:03 > 0:22:05I wonder what our teams are facing next?

0:22:06 > 0:22:10OK, I can see something ahead, it's yellow and fluffy.

0:22:10 > 0:22:13Oh, I think it's a chicken, you know. He's in the road.

0:22:13 > 0:22:16- He's in the road, so that's a hazard.- Take his picture, then.

0:22:16 > 0:22:17Got it!

0:22:17 > 0:22:23- There you go. Take one of him. Take one of him, look.- Who?- This one!

0:22:23 > 0:22:25He's running around like an idiot.

0:22:25 > 0:22:27Bit of a close-up, but not bad.

0:22:27 > 0:22:31Oh, chicken. Chicken! I've got him.

0:22:31 > 0:22:33Bit of a blur, Jono. Never mind.

0:22:33 > 0:22:37- Oh, wouldn't the chicken be one? - Too late. We've got ten.

0:22:37 > 0:22:39We can only take ten pictures.

0:22:40 > 0:22:42We might have got one wrong.

0:22:44 > 0:22:47So, Sarah and Rhys think they may have missed one,

0:22:47 > 0:22:49but the chicken is our final hazard.

0:22:49 > 0:22:51Time to check the photos they've taken.

0:22:51 > 0:22:54Remember, they need seven correct hazards to pass.

0:22:54 > 0:22:55Molly, how did you find it?

0:22:55 > 0:22:59It was quite hard, going past in the car, not to take photos.

0:22:59 > 0:23:03And we noticed that your arguing crept back into it again.

0:23:03 > 0:23:04There!

0:23:04 > 0:23:07- I've done it, I just took a photo of that.- You didn't!

0:23:07 > 0:23:08I know what I've took photos of!

0:23:08 > 0:23:10It's cos I thought he didn't take the picture.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13- So whose fault was it? - Both of us.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15Ooh! A bit of a compromise!

0:23:15 > 0:23:19Yes, that's what I'm liking! Sandra, what did you make of their run?

0:23:19 > 0:23:22Well, you got the gorilla, you got the water, you got the log,

0:23:22 > 0:23:25you got the toxic waste, the football, you got the accident,

0:23:25 > 0:23:28the lorry reversing and the wheelbarrow.

0:23:28 > 0:23:30If you add them all up - eight out of ten.

0:23:30 > 0:23:31- It's a pass.- Well done, guys.

0:23:31 > 0:23:35Excellent! Eight out of ten is a great result for the Orange team.

0:23:35 > 0:23:39We came out the blocks all guns blazing, "Snap, snap, snap,"

0:23:39 > 0:23:41getting the right photos, the hazards.

0:23:41 > 0:23:46We let our teamwork go a bit, but that won't happen again, hopefully.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49And I think my dad did all right, as well.

0:23:49 > 0:23:51So, Rhys, how did you think you got on?

0:23:51 > 0:23:54I don't know. We might have done well, I don't know.

0:23:54 > 0:23:56OK. So you've already got three passes,

0:23:56 > 0:23:58how would you feel if you got a forfeit?

0:23:58 > 0:24:02I would feel really sad, because I really don't want a forfeit.

0:24:02 > 0:24:05- Sandra, how did they get on? - There was a lot of hazards,

0:24:05 > 0:24:08- but the good news is you got nine out of ten.- Oh!

0:24:08 > 0:24:10Well done, Rhys. Keep up the good work.

0:24:10 > 0:24:12- Well done.- Thank you. - Keep up the good work.

0:24:12 > 0:24:14- Well done. Congratulations, Sarah.- Thank you.

0:24:14 > 0:24:18Nine out of ten is a fantastic score. Well done, Greens!

0:24:18 > 0:24:20The one we got wrong was the kid on the bike.

0:24:20 > 0:24:22Sandra said he was going away,

0:24:22 > 0:24:26but that is good that you are aware that there is a cyclist.

0:24:26 > 0:24:28The chicken running around in the road,

0:24:28 > 0:24:30probably just as much a danger,

0:24:30 > 0:24:33but we'd run out of pictures by then and it was far too late.

0:24:33 > 0:24:35But it was still a pass, so really pleased.

0:24:35 > 0:24:37Well done, guys. We've checked all the pictures,

0:24:37 > 0:24:40and I can tell you... Sandra's got the results.

0:24:40 > 0:24:44Manisha, Cliff, ten hazards photographed.

0:24:44 > 0:24:49- Ten hazards photographed.- Ten out of ten! That's what we're looking for!

0:24:49 > 0:24:53You can't beat ten out of ten. Cracking teamwork, guys!

0:24:53 > 0:24:55We got ten out of ten, we got all of them,

0:24:55 > 0:24:56and I'm really happy about that.

0:24:56 > 0:24:59I think I'll be leaving the Driving Academy

0:24:59 > 0:25:03with a greater appreciation of road conditions and hazards on the road,

0:25:03 > 0:25:05and maybe a bit more respect, as well.

0:25:05 > 0:25:08Dad's come on a long way and we've done really well.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11- How do you think you got on? - We should have taken more pictures.

0:25:11 > 0:25:13OK. Do you think you missed some?

0:25:13 > 0:25:16I did ask Mum quite a few times and Mum said maybe not, so...

0:25:16 > 0:25:19Oh! You're blaming your mum!

0:25:19 > 0:25:22Oh, Michelle, is he right, is it your fault,

0:25:22 > 0:25:24or is he just trying to worm his way out of it?

0:25:24 > 0:25:27I just thought that I wasn't sure how long more

0:25:27 > 0:25:29we were going to be driving, and what other,

0:25:29 > 0:25:32perhaps even worse hazards, we were going to come across.

0:25:32 > 0:25:35As you know, you had to take seven correct photos of hazards.

0:25:35 > 0:25:39You only took six, so that's an automatic fail.

0:25:39 > 0:25:43Driving is not just about the controls, the steering, the gears.

0:25:43 > 0:25:45You need to be more aware of what's on the road.

0:25:45 > 0:25:47OK. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.

0:25:47 > 0:25:50Six out of ten - a real disappointment for the Blues.

0:25:50 > 0:25:52Sorry, guys.

0:25:52 > 0:25:54To be honest, we did absolutely rubbish.

0:25:54 > 0:25:57I listened to Mum on most of it,

0:25:57 > 0:26:01and Mum, most times, got it wrong quite badly.

0:26:01 > 0:26:03We've both been doing really well on the driving skills,

0:26:03 > 0:26:06and that's been great, but our weakness seems to be

0:26:06 > 0:26:12awareness around us, signs, and that is now letting us down quite badly.

0:26:12 > 0:26:17Hazards are all about planning, seeing, acting. "What if..?"

0:26:17 > 0:26:21Don't wait till it happens. See it before it happens and act on it.

0:26:21 > 0:26:23Be safe, stay safe, keep safe.

0:26:23 > 0:26:27In the Superskills so far, Rhys and Sarah have passed four.

0:26:27 > 0:26:30The Purples also have four out of seven.

0:26:30 > 0:26:31The Blues stay on five.

0:26:31 > 0:26:35Molly and Andy are level pegging, with five out of seven, too.

0:26:36 > 0:26:39We've made it through another day of training, and well done, guys.

0:26:39 > 0:26:42But as always, let's get down to handing out these passes.

0:26:42 > 0:26:45The first pass I'm going to hand out to Molly and Andy.

0:26:45 > 0:26:47- Yeah, well done, Molly. - Congratulations, guys.

0:26:47 > 0:26:52The second pass goes to Manisha and Cliff. Congratulations, well done.

0:26:52 > 0:26:56And the final pass goes to Rhys and Sarah. There you go, guys.

0:26:56 > 0:26:58Jono and Michelle, you know what's going to happen.

0:26:58 > 0:27:01You failed, so there's a forfeit. Here are your Toothbrushes Of Doom.

0:27:01 > 0:27:04My car is dirty, so go and get stuck in!

0:27:04 > 0:27:07Whilst they get mucky with that custard-covered car,
