0:00:05 > 0:00:08Welcome to the world of Epic.
0:00:08 > 0:00:13Sit back, strap yourself in and get ready to become Epic at everything!
0:00:16 > 0:00:19Welcome to your Quick Blast of Epicness.
0:00:19 > 0:00:22So what are we waiting for? Let's do this.
0:00:26 > 0:00:31First up, if you've a pencil and a friend, then you can do this.
0:00:33 > 0:00:37Here's CBBC's Ed Petrie to show how you can create your very own
0:00:37 > 0:00:38masterpiece.
0:00:38 > 0:00:41I'm Ed Petrie off the telly and I'm going to show you how to turn
0:00:41 > 0:00:43someone you know into a cartoon character.
0:00:43 > 0:00:44Has he got a cat on his T-shirt?
0:00:44 > 0:00:47Now first of all, you need a picture of the person you're trying to draw
0:00:47 > 0:00:50so you can keep checking it all the time, make sure it looks like them.
0:00:50 > 0:00:53I've picked my younger brother, John, because he's really annoying.
0:00:53 > 0:00:56- It's payback time. - What's with all the cats?
0:00:56 > 0:00:58Now the first thing I always start on is the eyes.
0:00:58 > 0:00:59It's just like real life.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02When you meet someone for the first time you look in their eyes,
0:01:02 > 0:01:04don't you? You don't look at their hand or their foot.
0:01:04 > 0:01:07- That would be a bit weird. - I look at their hands and feet.
0:01:07 > 0:01:10Then you want to find a feature to exaggerate a bit.
0:01:10 > 0:01:13- So I've picked my brother's nose. - You've picked your brother's nose?
0:01:13 > 0:01:17- Bit disgusting, really.- Made it a bit wider than it is in normal life.
0:01:17 > 0:01:18Ah, I see.
0:01:18 > 0:01:21Also, when you're drawing the hair, don't worry about drawing
0:01:21 > 0:01:24every single little hair on the head because you'd be there all day.
0:01:24 > 0:01:26I'm just going to give him a big block of hair.
0:01:26 > 0:01:29Also the nice thing about drawing is you can add things that you
0:01:29 > 0:01:31couldn't have in a photograph, so I'm going to put a little love
0:01:31 > 0:01:35- heart in, because he loves his cats so much.- I'm a dog person myself.
0:01:35 > 0:01:38Once I've got it all drawn out, if I'm doing something big, like this,
0:01:38 > 0:01:42what I like to do afterwards is thicken the lines.
0:01:42 > 0:01:44That makes it look like you've done it with a brush
0:01:44 > 0:01:47- and you're really professional and clever.- Nice tip, Ed.
0:01:47 > 0:01:50So once you've done that it's time to colour it in.
0:01:50 > 0:01:54Ed uses a computer, but you can use a felt tip or anything you like.
0:01:54 > 0:02:01Once all that's done, print it out and ta-da. An Ed Petrie masterpiece.
0:02:01 > 0:02:02Masterpiece indeed.
0:02:02 > 0:02:06And that is how to turn someone you know into a cartoon character.
0:02:06 > 0:02:08A true work of art.
0:02:08 > 0:02:11Next we all get them and oh, how they can hurt,
0:02:11 > 0:02:14but we've got someone who can help you deal with them.
0:02:16 > 0:02:17I'm Dr Chris van Tulleken
0:02:17 > 0:02:20and I'm going to be showing you how to deal with cuts.
0:02:20 > 0:02:23Cuts and grazes are a really common injury
0:02:23 > 0:02:25and for the most part they're not serious.
0:02:25 > 0:02:26In fact, if you're not getting cuts
0:02:26 > 0:02:29- and grazes you're probably not having enough fun.- What?!
0:02:29 > 0:02:32Most cuts you can deal with yourself, but there are some bigger cuts
0:02:32 > 0:02:36that need a grown-up and special medical attention.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38If you've got a serious cut, what you can do
0:02:38 > 0:02:41while you're waiting for a grown-up or medical help is put
0:02:41 > 0:02:44pressure on it in order to stop bleeding.
0:02:44 > 0:02:48- If you've got a small cut I'll show you how to deal with it.- Argh! A cut!
0:02:48 > 0:02:51- Luckily this one's made of strawberry jam.- Oh, he's a joker!
0:02:51 > 0:02:54The first thing to do is to clean the cut under running water.
0:02:54 > 0:02:58- OK, give it a good clean. - Pat the area dry with a clean towel.
0:02:58 > 0:03:01After you've dried it put on a plaster.
0:03:01 > 0:03:03But make sure you're not allergic to them first.
0:03:03 > 0:03:05Don't use antiseptic creams or sprays.
0:03:05 > 0:03:07They can interfere with the wound healing.
0:03:07 > 0:03:10If it continues to ooze blood you can use some tissue to apply
0:03:10 > 0:03:12- pressure to it. - I feel a bit queasy.
0:03:12 > 0:03:14Alternatively, if you're lucky enough to have a cut
0:03:14 > 0:03:17made of strawberry jam, like mine is, you can just lick it off.
0:03:17 > 0:03:19He's not going to... Oh, he has!
0:03:19 > 0:03:21Mm.
0:03:21 > 0:03:24So remember, clean your hands and the cut.
0:03:24 > 0:03:25Pat it dry.
0:03:25 > 0:03:29Apply a plaster, if you're not allergic to them.
0:03:29 > 0:03:31And if it continues to bleed apply more pressure
0:03:31 > 0:03:33until you can get help.
0:03:33 > 0:03:36And that is how to treat a cut.
0:03:36 > 0:03:38Right, time for one last dose of Epicness.
0:03:38 > 0:03:42If you want to be an Olympic superstar, then pay close attention.
0:03:42 > 0:03:45Hi, I'm Katarina Johnson-Thompson. I'm an Olympic athlete
0:03:45 > 0:03:48and I'm going to show you how to be the first out of the starting blocks.
0:03:48 > 0:03:52Olympic heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson knows
0:03:52 > 0:03:55all there is to know about using these babies.
0:03:55 > 0:03:57They're starting blocks.
0:03:57 > 0:04:00Use them well and they'll help you kick off a race perfectly.
0:04:00 > 0:04:03Using the starting block for the first time is a bit weird,
0:04:03 > 0:04:05but it gives you a solid platform for you to push off.
0:04:05 > 0:04:08If it's good enough for you, Olympic hero lady,
0:04:08 > 0:04:09it's definitely good enough for us.
0:04:09 > 0:04:11How do we use them?
0:04:11 > 0:04:13So you need to put your hands shoulder width apart
0:04:13 > 0:04:17and your fingers and thumbs parallel to the starting line.
0:04:17 > 0:04:19Ooh, nice nails, girlfriend.
0:04:19 > 0:04:22Right, we've got our stance sorted. What next?
0:04:22 > 0:04:24Push off your back leg and drive forward.
0:04:26 > 0:04:29- And she's off and the crowd go wild! - CROWD CHEERS
0:04:29 > 0:04:33And that was how to be the first out of the starting blocks.
0:04:33 > 0:04:35Thanks, Katarina. Give that girl a gold medal.
0:04:37 > 0:04:40So there you have it.
0:04:40 > 0:04:42Your Quick Blast of Epicness.
0:04:42 > 0:04:47Now go forth and be Epic at everything!
