0:00:02 > 0:00:07Eight kids who just wouldn't behave in class...

0:00:07 > 0:00:09Ow! That hurt, Ibbi!

0:00:09 > 0:00:12..signed up to four of the world's most extreme schools.

0:00:14 > 0:00:18- Charlie, sit up! - No talking. No moving.

0:00:18 > 0:00:19THEY SPEAK IN KOREAN

0:00:19 > 0:00:25For most of them, it was the experience of a lifetime.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27I've realised how much you need an education.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29But will they all be graduating with honours?

0:00:31 > 0:00:33- I'm not talking to you.- Sit up!

0:00:33 > 0:00:38Hopefully they'll see it in me, that I've changed, so... Fingers crossed.

0:00:39 > 0:00:43Today, for the first time, all eight are meeting at a cinema in London...

0:00:45 > 0:00:48..to share some of their finest moments.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51Oh, look at them shoes.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54Then I return to all four schools, to reveal who's graduated.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Will it be an A-star, or an F for fail?

0:00:59 > 0:01:02And who's behaving in class now they're back in the UK.

0:01:02 > 0:01:06We were very concerned as to what the future might hold for them.

0:01:29 > 0:01:34Hello everyone, and welcome to your Extreme School graduation day!

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Today we'll reveal who's made the grade, and we'll be sharing

0:01:38 > 0:01:41some of your best school moments on the big screen!

0:01:41 > 0:01:43- Are you ready?- Yes.- Let's go!

0:01:50 > 0:01:52Now, this is a very big occasion.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55It's the first time all eight of our Extreme School pupils

0:01:55 > 0:01:57have been in the same room together.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59Fight, fight, fight! Only joking.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01You're all model pupils.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04But it hasn't always been like that. Roll film.

0:02:10 > 0:02:15It all began in East London, with tricky twosome Ibbi and Keziah.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19Ibbi's mouth often got him in trouble.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Last term, I had quite a lot of detentions.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25I did up to 15 in one month.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30And Keziah was known for running away from her teachers.

0:02:30 > 0:02:34I like to get out of my seat, walk around the classroom.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36Sometimes walk out of the classroom.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39Then came the giggling Geordie girls Maisie and Alice.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45Maisie often flouted school rules, and liked having the last word.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48When the teachers say something I disagree with,

0:02:48 > 0:02:51I always have to say my opinion back.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54While Alice rarely did her homework, and mucked about in class.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58I get in trouble at least twice a day,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01for talking in lessons, being cheeky to the teachers

0:03:01 > 0:03:03and messing around in the corridors.

0:03:05 > 0:03:09Next it was off to Bristol, to meet lively lads Charlie and Aiden.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14Charlie liked to think he was cleverer than his teachers.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Teachers describe me as rude, arrogant...

0:03:16 > 0:03:19And Aidan only got enthusiastic in class

0:03:19 > 0:03:21when he was chanting football songs.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24I muck about, and I answer back to the teachers,

0:03:24 > 0:03:26and I don't do my work.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30The final destination was Swansea,

0:03:30 > 0:03:32to meet problematic pair Brandon and Shane.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37Brandon had a reputation for talking back to teachers.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39I think school's a boring waste of time.

0:03:39 > 0:03:43While Shane's favourite hobby was distracting other pupils.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46If I could get away with not going to school, then I would.

0:03:46 > 0:03:50What did you think when you saw yourself on the big screen?

0:03:50 > 0:03:54It was horrible. It's like you talking to yourself.

0:03:54 > 0:03:56- Like, making you realise. - It's a bit shocking.

0:03:56 > 0:04:01I didn't realise that it puts you in the position of a teacher.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03I don't think I was that bad.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06So Ibbi, who do you think was the worst behaved out of all of you?

0:04:06 > 0:04:08- I think Charlie.- Charlie.

0:04:08 > 0:04:10- Aidan.- Aidan.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12- Brandon.- Brandon.

0:04:12 > 0:04:13Aidan.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15That's two votes for you, Aidan.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17So between the eight of you, you travelled

0:04:17 > 0:04:20to four very different corners of the world.

0:04:20 > 0:04:24And this is the moment where you found out where you were going.

0:04:29 > 0:04:35Hello, everyone! I'm Susan Calman from Extreme School!

0:04:35 > 0:04:36Hello.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38I'm looking for Keziah and Ibbi.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40Aidan and Charlie.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42Maisie and Alice.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44Brandon and Shane. Hello...

0:04:44 > 0:04:50At this school, your day begins at 6:00am.

0:04:52 > 0:04:536:00am!

0:04:53 > 0:04:57You must bow to your teachers.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00No way! No way.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03You'll have completed seven lessons before lunch.

0:05:03 > 0:05:05LAUGHTER

0:05:06 > 0:05:11You are not allowed to wear any make-up or jewellery.

0:05:13 > 0:05:19You are off to the Phoenix Military Academy in Chicago, USA!

0:05:24 > 0:05:28Cadets! March in step! Move!

0:05:35 > 0:05:38You are going to

0:05:38 > 0:05:43Daewon International Middle School in Seoul, South Korea!

0:05:48 > 0:05:51Students who work hard at school will go far in life.

0:05:54 > 0:05:58You are going to The Bishop's School in India!

0:06:00 > 0:06:01In India?

0:06:08 > 0:06:11Stand at ease... Attention...

0:06:11 > 0:06:16The motto of The Bishop's School is just one word, and it's thorough.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19Maisie and Alice, you are going...

0:06:19 > 0:06:22to St Joseph's Convent School in St Lucia!

0:06:22 > 0:06:24Yes!

0:06:24 > 0:06:27It's not a holiday you're going on.

0:06:27 > 0:06:32This is a convent school. It's a school run by nuns.

0:06:32 > 0:06:34I've never met a nun before.

0:06:34 > 0:06:37You're going to meet lots of nuns in St Lucia!

0:06:40 > 0:06:44I do not tolerate students being disrespectful. Zero tolerance.

0:06:48 > 0:06:50Maisie and Alice, you looked really excited.

0:06:50 > 0:06:54What did you think was going to happen in St Lucia?

0:06:54 > 0:06:57Like, going to beaches every day and sunbathing and stuff.

0:06:57 > 0:07:01And where you a bit intimidated at the thought of meeting some nuns?

0:07:01 > 0:07:04Yeah. Cos I heard that they were really horrible and strict.

0:07:04 > 0:07:10You in particular, Ibbi, seemed rather shocked by the 6:00am start.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13I usually like lay-ins in the mornings. I'm a bit lazy.

0:07:15 > 0:07:20So which school sounds like it would be the hardest school to be at?

0:07:20 > 0:07:23Either India, or St Lucia.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26Knowing that it's nuns that run it, and they're very strict.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28I wouldn't have liked to go there.

0:07:28 > 0:07:32And India, because you have seven periods before lunch.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35The hardest school sounds like the military school.

0:07:35 > 0:07:39They're obviously going to be really strict, if they're military.

0:07:39 > 0:07:42And they'll definitely not be able to wake up at 6:00am every morning.

0:07:42 > 0:07:44Every pupil wants to make theirs individual.

0:07:44 > 0:07:47Some girls like to shorten it

0:07:47 > 0:07:50and let's not get me started on boys and ties.

0:07:50 > 0:07:52I am talking of course about school uniform.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55Unfortunately for these guys,

0:07:55 > 0:07:59there was no chance of customising an Extreme School uniform.

0:08:03 > 0:08:06In Chicago, Keziah and Ibbi were thrown in at the deep end

0:08:06 > 0:08:10when they were left to work out the complex military dress code.

0:08:10 > 0:08:14These are the uniforms that you'll be wearing while you're here.

0:08:14 > 0:08:17How come there's like, three pairs of trousers?

0:08:17 > 0:08:19I hate hats.

0:08:19 > 0:08:20Aaagh! No.

0:08:22 > 0:08:26In South Korea, the Welsh boys were less than impressed

0:08:26 > 0:08:29with their super-smart Daewon blazers.

0:08:29 > 0:08:32- Are you being serious? - You're having a laugh.

0:08:32 > 0:08:35Yous lot are lucky, man. Ours is way worse than that.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37Yours aren't bad!

0:08:37 > 0:08:40I wouldn't have minded for them to be like that.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43They were up there on me. You could see my socks.

0:08:43 > 0:08:45But they were soon cutting the mustard.

0:08:45 > 0:08:48THEY SPEAK IN KOREAN

0:08:48 > 0:08:51I reckon we look like a pair of old men, to be honest.

0:08:52 > 0:08:56Not initially bowled over by their convent girl pinafores...

0:08:56 > 0:08:59- This is your uniform. - Oh, look at them shoes.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04Your socks must be above your ankles. Is that understood?

0:09:04 > 0:09:07- Mm-hm.- Is that understood? - Yes, Sister.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10Imagine what we're going to look like with no make-up on

0:09:10 > 0:09:12and these stupid uniforms.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16It wasn't long before Maisie and Alice were looking angelic.

0:09:21 > 0:09:24- You look like dinner ladies.- I know!

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Why? What's the joy?

0:09:27 > 0:09:29But when it came to uniform upsets, it was Charlie

0:09:29 > 0:09:32and Aidan who took the number one spot.

0:09:33 > 0:09:37I am NOT wearing a tie. And I'm not wearing a jumper.

0:09:37 > 0:09:39Do we have to wear them?

0:09:39 > 0:09:40Well, I'm refusing.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43While Aidan decided to grin and bear it...

0:09:44 > 0:09:48You look like a nerd!

0:09:48 > 0:09:52.serial rule breaker Charlie had other ideas.

0:09:52 > 0:09:53What about you, my friend?

0:09:53 > 0:09:55- I'm not wearing it.- Why? Why?

0:09:57 > 0:10:00- So talk to me, tell me the reasons. - I'm not talking to you.

0:10:00 > 0:10:03Well, look in the mirror and talk to yourself, then. Anyway,

0:10:03 > 0:10:06I can't keep the school waiting, so we'll carry on.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09Charlie. What is so bad about ties?

0:10:09 > 0:10:13It wasn't the tie, it was just the colour. I hate maroon.

0:10:13 > 0:10:17It's just rank. And I've never worn a tie in my life before.

0:10:17 > 0:10:18What changed your mind?

0:10:18 > 0:10:22I kind of didn't want to leave Aiden on his own to do the whole week.

0:10:22 > 0:10:23It was kind of harsh.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26Ibbi and Keziah, you were at the military academy.

0:10:26 > 0:10:29- Ibbi, you were saying you didn't like the uniform.- No.

0:10:29 > 0:10:32I thought to myself it was a little bit embarrassing.

0:10:32 > 0:10:37It just looks like, really smart and sophisticated compared to ours,

0:10:37 > 0:10:38which was just casual.

0:10:38 > 0:10:42- A bit like cricket players. - Or old men.- Yeah.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44Maisie and Alice, while we were watching the film

0:10:44 > 0:10:47I heard someone say that you looked like dinner ladies.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50Who said that they looked like dinner ladies? Charlie.

0:10:50 > 0:10:54I kind of like, got used to it and I thought it was kind of cute.

0:10:54 > 0:10:57What was it like not having your make-up on all the time?

0:10:57 > 0:10:59It felt like... I did actually quite like the feel of it

0:10:59 > 0:11:02because I hate the feel of the make-up on my face, I like fresh.

0:11:02 > 0:11:05Yes, I like that it makes you feel clean.

0:11:05 > 0:11:06But you're back to wearing it again.

0:11:06 > 0:11:08- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11If you're sent to an Extreme School you're probably going to

0:11:11 > 0:11:15- encounter a strict teacher or two. Am I right, guys?- Yeah.

0:11:15 > 0:11:20- But did you really have any idea how strict?- No.

0:11:23 > 0:11:26Maisie and Alice had the tough but fair Sister Rufina

0:11:26 > 0:11:29as their school principal in St Lucia.

0:11:29 > 0:11:32I do not tolerate students being disrespectful.

0:11:32 > 0:11:36And they were lost for words when she lay down the school rules.

0:11:36 > 0:11:39I'm noticing that you're wearing make-up.

0:11:39 > 0:11:43You have mascara, lipstick, eye shadow, nail polish.

0:11:43 > 0:11:46So all this will have to be cleared out.

0:11:46 > 0:11:49You wear uniforms, and there's no talking during class time.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52- Are you with me?- Yes, Sister.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55Charlie and Aidan had double the trouble at The Bishop's School

0:11:55 > 0:11:57in India.

0:11:57 > 0:12:00With the no-nonsense principal Mr Freese...

0:12:00 > 0:12:05The key rules here - one is respect. The other is obedience.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07And the strict headmaster Mr Edwin.

0:12:07 > 0:12:09They expected you to be at assembly this morning.

0:12:09 > 0:12:12It's not going to be acceptable if you are going to miss the assembly.

0:12:12 > 0:12:14I hope I've got myself clear.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17And that's the last warning you're going to get, both of you.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20Brandon and Shane had the cool and calm Mr Kim in South Korea.

0:12:22 > 0:12:25Who was very clear when it came to the school rules.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28You must not miss any of the classes in your timetable.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32Self-study is compulsory.

0:12:32 > 0:12:34You have to do it, until 8:30pm.

0:12:34 > 0:12:39- You finished at 8:30?- 9:30.

0:12:39 > 0:12:46Cadets! Ready. Step. Move. Ready. Step.

0:12:46 > 0:12:49But there was one teacher that put all the others in the shade -

0:12:49 > 0:12:52Chicago's very own First Sergeant Powell.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54Battalion...halt!

0:12:55 > 0:12:57He was scary!

0:12:57 > 0:13:00Sergeant Major, are these cadets prepared?

0:13:00 > 0:13:03Whoa! Look at this. My, my, my.

0:13:03 > 0:13:05No talking. No moving.

0:13:05 > 0:13:09- Who told you to put that sweater on, cadet?- Myself.

0:13:09 > 0:13:13OK, you're going to do push-ups. So guess what, remove your beret.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16Straighten up, there you go. Now, you go down...

0:13:16 > 0:13:18There you go! Outstanding.

0:13:18 > 0:13:21One, sir. Two, sir. Three, sir...

0:13:23 > 0:13:25When he came around the corner I was sweating.

0:13:25 > 0:13:28His chest was puffed out and he has a deep voice.

0:13:28 > 0:13:30Keziah, what did you think of the discipline?

0:13:30 > 0:13:33I liked it quite a lot because it shows authority

0:13:33 > 0:13:37and shows who you should listen to and who you should respect.

0:13:37 > 0:13:41Brandon and Shane, do you appreciate your teachers more or less?

0:13:41 > 0:13:44I treat them with more respect

0:13:44 > 0:13:46because I realise that they don't really

0:13:46 > 0:13:49ask for much compared to the Korean teachers.

0:13:49 > 0:13:51They could ask for a lot more.

0:13:51 > 0:13:55We realise how annoying it actually is when kids don't listen.

0:13:55 > 0:13:59I do respect them once I realise that they're just doing their job.

0:13:59 > 0:14:03We all know that you weren't big fans of school in the UK, and let's

0:14:03 > 0:14:06be honest, none of you would have won the best behaved pupil award.

0:14:06 > 0:14:09But, did enrolling at one of the world's strictest schools

0:14:09 > 0:14:12make you see education differently?

0:14:15 > 0:14:18Brandon and Shane's stint at a top gaming company in Seoul

0:14:18 > 0:14:21gave them a new perspective on their education.

0:14:21 > 0:14:25Crytek is one of the world's largest and finest video games developers

0:14:25 > 0:14:30in the world, so today I will give you a chance to make your own game.

0:14:34 > 0:14:38You need to come up with a title and a game story for your own game.

0:14:39 > 0:14:40How about here?

0:14:40 > 0:14:45When I am older I could consider being a gamesman with Yohan.

0:14:45 > 0:14:48Maisie and Alice got a taste of manual labour

0:14:48 > 0:14:50in a St Lucian banana plantation.

0:14:50 > 0:14:51Let's go.

0:14:51 > 0:14:54And it definitely got them thinking.

0:14:54 > 0:15:00My brother is a doctor, my sister is a teacher

0:15:00 > 0:15:05and be working here is so hard, it is worth going to school.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08I don't think I could do this as a job as, like, a lifetime.

0:15:10 > 0:15:11Ibbi had his reality check

0:15:11 > 0:15:15when he hung out with the school's star football player in Chicago.

0:15:15 > 0:15:18We want to play some football, some American football.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24For some of the kids, it is a very rough environment

0:15:24 > 0:15:25where they come from.

0:15:25 > 0:15:29They have to encounter gangs day in and day out.

0:15:29 > 0:15:32But they come to the school to achieve better things.

0:15:32 > 0:15:36I will try and take the discipline that they have over here,

0:15:36 > 0:15:41and take it to school back in my homeland in England.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43- Hello.- Welcome to the Chicago Police Academy.

0:15:43 > 0:15:45Keziah went on a crash course with the police.

0:15:45 > 0:15:48You just cuffed your first cooperative subject.

0:15:49 > 0:15:52And learned a few home truths about her dream job.

0:15:52 > 0:15:54- Do you still want to be a police officer?- Yes.

0:15:54 > 0:15:56How you doing in school?

0:15:56 > 0:15:59I am not always good, I am a bit over energetic and talkative.

0:15:59 > 0:16:01You have to get your act together in school.

0:16:01 > 0:16:04She said that if I am not good in school then

0:25:13 > 0:25:17The thing I have changed most is probably how much I work,

0:25:20 > 0:25:22realise that I need to work hard in school.

0:25:22 > 0:25:25Instead of just messing around all the time.

0:25:25 > 0:25:28Since being back, Brandon has followed the rules,

0:25:28 > 0:25:31and I think he has gained a lot from his experience.

0:25:37 > 0:25:41I am enjoying school much more than I did before, because I have been

0:25:41 > 0:25:45working harder in my classes and getting on better with the teachers

0:26:18 > 0:26:22Alice is participating much more in lessons since she returned

0:26:22 > 0:26:23from St Lucia, and she seems to appreciate

0:26:23 > 0:26:26the opportunities she has at this school.

0:26:28 > 0:26:32- Can you help me, sir?- Yeah. What is the question?- What does that mean?

0:26:32 > 0:26:37I saw in India all of the children were very polite

0:26:37 > 0:26:41to their teachers and I thought, I will come back and do that

0:26:41 > 0:26:44and I've embraced it and took it with me instead of leaving it there.

0:26:44 > 0:26:47Since I was two years old watching football on the TV I always dreamed
