0:00:21 > 0:00:26It's goodbye to mind-numbing guidebooks, tedious long walks

0:00:26 > 0:00:28and posing for really boring photos.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32Because this is Gimme A Break,

0:00:32 > 0:00:35the show where the kids take charge of the family holiday.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38On Gimme A Break the kids have all the say.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41They decide where they go, what activities they do

0:00:41 > 0:00:46and, most importantly, they're in charge of the holiday rules.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48Today's lucky family who are

0:00:48 > 0:00:52going to get a break are the Evan Lainchbury family.

0:00:52 > 0:00:56Guitar strumming nine-year-old Carys,

0:00:56 > 0:00:59dancing diva, 11-year-old Megan...

0:01:00 > 0:01:02..glamorous mum...

0:01:02 > 0:01:05and chef-tastic stepmum Sara.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08So, why do Carys and Megan need to be given a break?

0:01:08 > 0:01:11I think we deserve to be given a break

0:01:11 > 0:01:15because all our holidays are always sightseeing.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18History is my favourite subject.

0:01:18 > 0:01:23When we were in York we had to, like, stand by the gravestones.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25And then she'd take, like, loads of pictures,

0:01:25 > 0:01:28some in black and white, some in colour.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30And this is one thing I say to sightseeing...

0:01:30 > 0:01:32uh-uh!

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Sara doesn't like sand.

0:01:35 > 0:01:39The feel of sand, the texture, it gets everywhere.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41We can never go on sandy beaches

0:01:41 > 0:01:44and we always hurt our feet on pebbley beaches.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49- Mum doesn't like getting her hair wet.- This straight hair has

0:01:49 > 0:01:54taken some time to perfect and, as soon as it gets wet, it'll go ping.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58She's got a big frizz on her hair.

0:01:58 > 0:01:58And frizz.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04I think the children being in charge, for me, will be a nightmare.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06Please help us, Gimme A Break.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13- OK, you two, are you ready to be given a break?- Yeah!- Absolutely.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16- Are you two ready to hand over control?- If we must.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19You have to. It's time to say the words

0:02:19 > 0:02:22that fill parents all over the country with dread and fear.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25It's the Gimme A Break Parent Promise.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28We, the parents of Carys and Megan,

0:02:28 > 0:02:33hereby hand over control of the next family break.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36How does that feel to hear them say that?

0:02:36 > 0:02:37So...COOL!

0:02:37 > 0:02:42- I can't wait to get started. - Not as cool for you, I'd imagine.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44- A little bit frightening.- Not likely.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46No going back, I'm afraid.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49You've said the words, they've been broadcast to the nation

0:02:49 > 0:02:51so you'll have to lump it whilst we start planning.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53Come on, let's hang out.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57- That's it, that's it.- No.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59- Hold on, this time. - SHE STRUMS

0:02:59 > 0:03:01- No.- Oh, I give up.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03Look, you are now in control,

0:03:03 > 0:03:06so what kind of things do you want from your dream break?

0:03:07 > 0:03:10Probably surfing and, like, watersports activities.

0:03:10 > 0:03:15Loads of activities that are really active and fun.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18What d'you think your mum and Sara will think of that?

0:03:18 > 0:03:21They'll probably think there's a bit too much water.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23Well, that's lots for me to be getting on with.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26I'll sort something out after I've mastered this song.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28- That's it, isn't it?- No.

0:03:30 > 0:03:34I've put together three fantastic breaks for Carys and Megan.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36But before the girls make their choice

0:03:36 > 0:03:38they have to guess the holidays

0:03:38 > 0:03:41from a series of quirky, out there and downright freaky clues.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44Let's see how they get on with break number one.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46It's our clue. What's say?

0:03:46 > 0:03:48"TREE-SY does it.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51"This break is HIGH-ly fun."

0:03:51 > 0:03:53So, it might be climbing trees, maybe?

0:03:53 > 0:03:55Maybe we would, like, stay in a treehouse.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59- Look, there's something down there. - It's a flag.- Yeah.

0:03:59 > 0:04:01It could be a flag for a castle.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04Shouldn't he be on a beach?

0:04:04 > 0:04:07We laughed when we saw the lifeguard

0:04:07 > 0:04:09come up and run up to us.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11Hey, girls!

0:04:11 > 0:04:12You're gonna need this!

0:04:12 > 0:04:15I'm gonna go save some lives.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17He gave us a whistle.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19It's a lifeguard.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22I think we might be doing stuff

0:04:22 > 0:04:26in the water and maybe, like, surfing.

0:04:26 > 0:04:28- Gimme A Break... - Gimme A Break...

0:04:28 > 0:04:30..ices. Help yourself!

0:04:31 > 0:04:32- Ice cream.- Ice cream.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35Oh, it's Cornwall, I think.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38In Cornwall, they make a lot of ice cream.

0:04:38 > 0:04:42- We might be making, like, making food and ice cream?- Yes.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44Cone on, girls! Time for the next clue.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49Oh, look, it's a helicopter.

0:04:49 > 0:04:51Quite fun to go on a helicopter.

0:04:51 > 0:04:57Maybe we'd get to the destination by a helicopter. Let's follow it.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59Look, it's landed.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02"You'd be SILLY not to pick this break.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05"It leaves the others in its wake.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07"To these islands you will fly.

0:05:07 > 0:05:09"So don't delay, give them a try."

0:05:09 > 0:05:14The clue, I think it meant we would go to the Isle of Scilly.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Scuba-diving stuff.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21- They're blacked out. - There you go.

0:05:21 > 0:05:23You need to get to grips with this clue!

0:05:23 > 0:05:25I think it might be an anchor.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28- Well done. - It's your turn now.

0:05:31 > 0:05:33Here you go.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36Something wet. Is it a seal?

0:05:36 > 0:05:42Maybe we're, like, scuba diving off a boat with seals. Let's go.

0:05:42 > 0:05:46Last clue and it's all getting a bit tents. Tents, get it?

0:05:46 > 0:05:48I think it's natural yoghurt.

0:05:48 > 0:05:52Maybe camping in Greece cos natural yoghurt comes from Greece.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54What's this on the back?

0:05:54 > 0:05:56O, G, H.

0:05:56 > 0:05:57- Ogh?- Or go?

0:05:57 > 0:05:59But I don't know what "HOG" would be.

0:05:59 > 0:06:01Come on, let's go look for the next clue.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06Flowers and a windmill.

0:06:06 > 0:06:07Oh, look, there's a card.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09"BREADY steady go!

0:06:09 > 0:06:13"Use your loaf to guess what you'll be making."

0:06:13 > 0:06:16Because it says "BREADY" it might be making bread.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19And then that's a flower, only the other type of flour.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22I thought the flower clue meant

0:06:22 > 0:06:26that we'll be making bread in a windmill.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29A sandpit with a sand castle. Look at the clue card.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31"Join the dots to find a clue

0:06:31 > 0:06:33"to this HIGH FLYING activity."

0:06:33 > 0:06:34It's a kite.

0:06:34 > 0:06:38Kite flying, and maybe on the beach, because there's sand.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40That's it, clues over.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44OK, this is the exciting bit now, girls.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47You get to find out what your choices are. Break number one,

0:06:47 > 0:06:49where do you think you'd go?

0:06:49 > 0:06:53We think it's in Cornwall because on the ice cream clue, the flag,

0:06:53 > 0:06:55I think was the Cornish flag.

0:06:55 > 0:07:01Yes, break number one is an activity holiday in Cornwall.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04There's no time for sightseeing on this active break

0:07:04 > 0:07:08because you'll be too busy learning how to lifeguard, climb trees,

0:07:08 > 0:07:12mountain board and make delicious Cornish ice cream. Yum.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14- That is cool. - What do you like about it?

0:07:14 > 0:07:18I like the tree climbing and the lifeguard thing.

0:07:18 > 0:07:21Moving on to number two, where do you think that was?

0:07:21 > 0:07:23I thought it might be the Isles of Scilly.

0:07:23 > 0:07:28Break number two is a superb seaside holiday on the Isles of Scilly.

0:07:28 > 0:07:29Right again!

0:07:29 > 0:07:31It's non-stop seaside activities.

0:07:31 > 0:07:35How do you fancy sailing a catamaran, snorkelling with

0:07:35 > 0:07:37seals and horse riding on the beach?

0:07:37 > 0:07:41You'll be flown in by helicopter for an awesome view of all the islands.

0:07:42 > 0:07:47- That looks good.- That is cool! - Which part of it is cool?

0:07:47 > 0:07:50I liked the snorkelling and horse riding.

0:07:50 > 0:07:54- That would be fun.- Where do you think break number three was?

0:07:54 > 0:07:58We thought it might be in Greece because of the natural yoghurt.

0:07:58 > 0:08:02Actually, the letters O, G and H were crossed out which left yurt.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05- Do you know what a yurt is?- No.

0:08:05 > 0:08:06You're about to find out

0:08:06 > 0:08:10because break number three is an outdoor break in Norfolk.

0:08:10 > 0:08:13This adrenaline packed break offers power kiting and climbing.

0:08:13 > 0:08:17Test your cheffing skills with breadmaking at a working windmill

0:08:17 > 0:08:20and sleep in a traditional yurt tent.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22It's a Mongolian tent.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25- You've got a wood burner in there. It'll be cosy.- That sounds cool.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28Of the three choices, is there one that stands out?

0:08:28 > 0:08:30All of them are really good.

0:08:30 > 0:08:33It's going to be hard. Well, I'll get out of the way,

0:08:33 > 0:08:36- maybe practise on your guitar again, is that cool?- Yeah.

0:08:36 > 0:08:38- I'll come back in a bit. - I think the helicopter one...

0:08:38 > 0:08:42I can play this thing, I know I can!

0:08:43 > 0:08:45The snorkelling with seals looks good.

0:08:45 > 0:08:46# It's Gimme A Break

0:08:46 > 0:08:49# Some time it may take... #

0:08:49 > 0:08:51I really like the look of that one.

0:08:51 > 0:08:52# Do not make a mistake. #

0:08:52 > 0:08:55Keep it down, Kirsten!

0:08:56 > 0:08:59- Do you want to do that one?- Yeah. - Positive?- Yeah.

0:09:00 > 0:09:02Kirsten!

0:09:02 > 0:09:04Coming, I'm coming!

0:09:04 > 0:09:08- That was the sound of two girls that have made their minds up!- Yeah.

0:09:08 > 0:09:11Put me out of my misery. Which one are you going for?

0:09:11 > 0:09:15- Break number two, the Isles of Scilly.- Consider that booked!

0:09:15 > 0:09:19I'm going to pop up at the end of your break to offer you the chance

0:09:19 > 0:09:22to win one final fantastic treat.

0:09:22 > 0:09:24If you do well it's completely yours,

0:09:24 > 0:09:28but if you mess it up, Mum and Sara will end up having the treat.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30- Are you clear?- Yeah.

0:09:30 > 0:09:35Have a fantastic time and, remember, completely secret, mum is the word.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39So, the Evan Lainchburys are going on a seaside break

0:09:39 > 0:09:41to the Isles of Scilly.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44How will Mum and Sara cope with getting gritty, icky sand between

0:09:44 > 0:09:50their toes? Urgh! And who'll get their hands on the final treat?

0:09:50 > 0:09:52We've got to get this.

0:09:54 > 0:09:57Carys and Megan are in charge of the holiday,

0:09:57 > 0:10:00so they're in charge of the packing for their mum and Sara.

0:10:00 > 0:10:01"Pants?"

0:10:01 > 0:10:05We thought we'd be a bit clever and leave some notes.

0:10:05 > 0:10:07"Fold our clothes carefully or else."

0:10:07 > 0:10:09- No.- I don't think they'll take any notice.

0:10:09 > 0:10:12We're just shoving everything in.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15If anything's all scrumpled I will not be happy.

0:10:15 > 0:10:16Cowboy Carys.

0:10:16 > 0:10:19I'm sure they're having a right laugh at us

0:10:19 > 0:10:21and having a right laugh at our clothes.

0:10:21 > 0:10:25As you can see, Sara likes checked tops.

0:10:25 > 0:10:26I like checked shirts!

0:10:26 > 0:10:29She never swears dresses.

0:10:29 > 0:10:31I don't want them to pack a dress for me.

0:10:31 > 0:10:34- There's a note on the straighteners. - OK, then.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37"Go on, Meg, you know you'll need them, as well."

0:10:37 > 0:10:40We'll be too busy to do that sort of thing.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43- It's a human right to have hair straighteners, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45In they go. That's our job done.

0:10:45 > 0:10:46Whoo!

0:10:46 > 0:10:48It's the morning of the break

0:10:48 > 0:10:51and the journey starts with a train ride to Penzance.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53It's finally time to reveal all.

0:10:55 > 0:10:59Oh, that looks very much to me like a bucket and spade.

0:10:59 > 0:11:03- And there's sand. - There's definitely sand there, Sar.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05Pull the spade out then.

0:11:05 > 0:11:06You're going to the... Ooh!

0:11:06 > 0:11:08Brilliant! The Isles of Scilly.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11We're going to the Isles of Scilly!

0:11:11 > 0:11:14A silly family on the Isles of Scilly.

0:11:14 > 0:11:16Really surprised they chose this.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18Pleasantly surprised, happily surprised.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20I thought their reaction was quite funny

0:11:20 > 0:11:23because I thought they would be, like, "Oh-h!"

0:11:23 > 0:11:25- How are we getting there, girls? - In a helicopter!

0:11:25 > 0:11:28- Superb!- Oh, my!

0:11:28 > 0:11:30You've never been on a helicopter before.

0:11:30 > 0:11:33I was a little bit anxious getting on the helicopter

0:11:33 > 0:11:37because it was so loud and that's something I've never done before.

0:11:37 > 0:11:39Hold my hand.

0:11:41 > 0:11:43- I'm so excited!- Yeah.

0:11:43 > 0:11:45Really great. It was fabulous.

0:11:45 > 0:11:48When you looked down it was really far down

0:11:48 > 0:11:50and it felt like you were floating.

0:11:50 > 0:11:54The Isles of Scilly lie 28 miles southwest of the coast of Cornwall.

0:11:54 > 0:11:58There are five main inhabited islands and a population

0:11:58 > 0:12:01of only 2,000 people. Flying in gives sand-hating Sara

0:12:01 > 0:12:05a bird's eye view of all the beaches that lie in store.

0:12:08 > 0:12:10The family are staying in Hell Bay,

0:12:10 > 0:12:14but will it be heaven when they open their suitcases?

0:12:14 > 0:12:15Open up, then.

0:12:16 > 0:12:19- Oh!- Oh, no!

0:12:19 > 0:12:20Terrible!

0:12:21 > 0:12:23Everything just shoved in.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26Every single item from the wardrobe.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28I can clothe the whole of the Scilly Isles.

0:12:28 > 0:12:31What about the notes that said...

0:12:31 > 0:12:34- fold neatly? - I'm glad there's an iron.

0:12:34 > 0:12:37Plenty of shoes.

0:12:37 > 0:12:38That's a good thing.

0:12:38 > 0:12:39Oh, no!

0:12:41 > 0:12:42What's that about?

0:12:42 > 0:12:45If you're good, we'll unlock the straighteners.

0:12:45 > 0:12:49- I can't see any checked shirts yet, Sar.- Oh, no, I've seen one.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52Don't worry, Sar, we packed all your checked shirts

0:12:52 > 0:12:54seeing as you love them so much.

0:12:54 > 0:12:57Checked shirts to the Isle of Scilly, yay!

0:12:57 > 0:13:01The pain of the unpacking is only the beginning for Mum and Sara.

0:13:01 > 0:13:04It's time for the girls to lay down the law.

0:13:04 > 0:13:08Listen up, Mum and Sara. Carys and Megan have come up with three rules.

0:13:08 > 0:13:11You'll be watched at all times, so there'll be no getting away

0:13:11 > 0:13:14with breaking any of them. Do you understand?

0:13:14 > 0:13:16- Yeah.- Yes.

0:13:16 > 0:13:18First up, rule number one

0:13:18 > 0:13:21states there'll be no boring historical sightseeing.

0:13:21 > 0:13:23Not even one fact?

0:13:23 > 0:13:24Nope.

0:13:24 > 0:13:27So, there will be no trudging round graveyards

0:13:27 > 0:13:30or taking arty photographs of old buildings on this break.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32OK.

0:13:32 > 0:13:34Here comes rule number two.

0:13:34 > 0:13:39Mum and Sara, you must walk barefoot on a sandy beach.

0:13:39 > 0:13:40Do I have to?

0:13:40 > 0:13:42Come on, it's a rule.

0:13:42 > 0:13:44Otherwise you get a forfeit.

0:13:44 > 0:13:48And the third and final rule is no sunbathing.

0:13:48 > 0:13:52Not even a little bit, when the sun comes out?

0:13:52 > 0:13:54With all our sun cream on, sensibly.

0:13:54 > 0:13:58No, we'll be too busy with all our activities.

0:13:58 > 0:14:02If you break any of these rules, there will be consequences.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05The girls will be watching you.

0:14:05 > 0:14:09I'll catch up with you at the end of the break when you kids

0:14:09 > 0:14:12will take on the adults to play for a very special treat.

0:14:12 > 0:14:15We'll get you then.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17Have an amazing time, won't you? Bye!

0:14:17 > 0:14:19ALL: Bye!

0:14:19 > 0:14:22The one about the historical sites?

0:14:22 > 0:14:24Well, you know, I can... I can do that one.

0:14:24 > 0:14:26The rule two with the sand on the bare feet,

0:14:26 > 0:14:29I think I'm going to have nightmares about that one.

0:14:29 > 0:14:32Here are the rules you have to stick to.

0:14:32 > 0:14:35It's the law. You've been warned.

0:14:39 > 0:14:42It's the next morning and the family are making their way

0:14:42 > 0:14:45to another one of the islands for the first activity.

0:14:45 > 0:14:47I'm going to tell you what we're doing now.

0:14:47 > 0:14:50We're going snorkelling with seals.

0:14:50 > 0:14:51- Oh-h!- Yay!

0:14:54 > 0:14:57I thought it was the worst possible activity ever,

0:14:57 > 0:15:01getting into a wetsuit, getting into a freezing cold sea.

0:15:02 > 0:15:06Then once you're in there it was just superb.

0:15:06 > 0:15:08Seals are naturally curious

0:15:08 > 0:15:11and it wasn't long before they came to say hello.

0:15:13 > 0:15:17It was really fun because I got to see the seals in the water.

0:15:19 > 0:15:22I think Megan did particularly well

0:15:22 > 0:15:24because she was out really, really far.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27She was like a natural. She was absolutely brilliant.

0:15:31 > 0:15:35I wasn't so great at the snorkelling thing and I didn't enjoy that.

0:15:37 > 0:15:40- It went right under us!- Wow!

0:15:40 > 0:15:42Absolutely amazing.

0:15:42 > 0:15:44These guys are looking up at us

0:15:44 > 0:15:49and then it swam right past us when it came up and it was really cool.

0:15:49 > 0:15:51Maybe Mum and Sar will get used

0:15:51 > 0:15:56to it and then maybe we can do more things like this on family holidays.

0:16:02 > 0:16:04After being dropped on the main island

0:16:04 > 0:16:07the girls are ready to reveal the next activity.

0:16:07 > 0:16:10We're going to tell you what we're doing now.

0:16:10 > 0:16:13Oh, my goodness, what are they doing?

0:16:13 > 0:16:15We're going gig rowing!

0:16:17 > 0:16:20In this?

0:16:20 > 0:16:22There's only four of us, we can't row one of those.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25That's right, Mum, you need six rowers for a gig,

0:16:25 > 0:16:26which is a type of rowing boat

0:16:26 > 0:16:29unique to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32But to get started Sara's going to have to face her fear of sand.

0:16:34 > 0:16:38Having to walk on the sand was the worst thing possible for me to do.

0:16:38 > 0:16:41It was an absolute nightmare. I hate it.

0:16:41 > 0:16:42SHE SQUEALS

0:16:42 > 0:16:45It's got seaweed in it!

0:16:45 > 0:16:49It reinforced the fact that I hate it and I don't want to do it any more.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53My feet is soaking!

0:16:53 > 0:16:56This is really fun and Mum and Sar are getting wet!

0:16:56 > 0:17:01Once on board, Jeremy gets everyone to try and coordinate their strokes.

0:17:02 > 0:17:03One.

0:17:04 > 0:17:05Two. That's it.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07Three.

0:17:07 > 0:17:11- Just a slight pause on the end of your stroke.- This is hard!

0:17:11 > 0:17:13After a while everyone got into a rhythm

0:17:13 > 0:17:16and it was really fun when everyone was going at the same time.

0:17:16 > 0:17:19So, it's all about rhythm, not about power.

0:17:21 > 0:17:23Quite impressed with Mum and Sara gig rowing.

0:17:23 > 0:17:26They got the hang of it quite quickly

0:17:26 > 0:17:28and they were quite good at it.

0:17:28 > 0:17:33- I'm enjoying this as a hobby, little hobby.- Oh, it's lovely.

0:17:33 > 0:17:37Really, really enjoyed it and I might well take it up as a sport.

0:17:37 > 0:17:40But, just as they find their rhythm, Sara has a disaster.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44I broke it! I caught a crab, apparently.

0:17:44 > 0:17:46Sara wasn't as good as me, though.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49Mum and Sara have been getting quite competitive

0:17:49 > 0:17:52at who's the best at the activities.

0:17:52 > 0:17:55There is a bit of competitiveness.

0:17:55 > 0:17:58Snorkelling wasn't me, rowing is.

0:17:58 > 0:18:02It was really, really fun doing an activity together as a family.

0:18:03 > 0:18:05Hey!

0:18:05 > 0:18:07The next day starts off with a downpour.

0:18:07 > 0:18:12So then, girls, what are we doing all the way down here?

0:18:12 > 0:18:14We're doing something inside today.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17We're doing stained-glass making.

0:18:17 > 0:18:19- Ooh!- That will be lovely.

0:18:19 > 0:18:21Indoors, hurray!

0:18:21 > 0:18:23The girls are going to paint glass

0:18:23 > 0:18:27while Mum and Sara will be making stained-glass designs.

0:18:27 > 0:18:30I'm going to do a seal like from the snorkelling.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32I think I'm going to do my own design.

0:18:32 > 0:18:34What are you going to be doing, Jo?

0:18:34 > 0:18:40Well, I was thinking maybe some abstract tulip design...

0:18:40 > 0:18:42- Very nice. Very nice.- ..sort of thing.

0:18:42 > 0:18:44I'm going to stick to a bog standard yacht.

0:18:51 > 0:18:53Cut along there, cut along there and cut there

0:18:53 > 0:18:55and that will be a lovely sail shape.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58I mean, that one looks like a leaf, doesn't it? See?

0:19:02 > 0:19:04Stained-glass painting was really cool

0:19:04 > 0:19:06because you got to do your own design.

0:19:07 > 0:19:09I wonder if theirs are better than ours?

0:19:10 > 0:19:13It fits on there perfectly. My little blue sail.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16I think this is two-one to Sar, don't you?

0:19:16 > 0:19:18Right, shut up, I'm starting again!

0:19:22 > 0:19:25I've already decided where they're going to go,

0:19:25 > 0:19:28in the front window all four of them.

0:19:28 > 0:19:30We've never ever done this before.

0:19:31 > 0:19:35The girls have finished their designs.

0:19:35 > 0:19:38Now it's time to see how well Mum and Sara did.

0:19:38 > 0:19:40Look at that. Beautiful.

0:19:40 > 0:19:43- Wow!- They will look really cool in our house.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46- Yours is better though, Jo.- Are you giving me this one, then?- Yes.

0:19:47 > 0:19:50The sun has come out and Mum decides to take full advantage of it.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52Mummy!

0:19:52 > 0:19:56- You're breaking our rules! - Sunbathing alert!

0:19:56 > 0:19:58- Sunbathing alert!- You're busted.

0:19:58 > 0:20:01I am not sunbathing.

0:20:01 > 0:20:04You're sitting in the sun with sun cream on,

0:20:04 > 0:20:08closing your eyes and relaxing. That is sunbathing!

0:20:08 > 0:20:12I think there might be a consequence in this for both of you.

0:20:12 > 0:20:15That's not fair!

0:20:15 > 0:20:18Back at the harbour the girls have a plan for dinner.

0:20:18 > 0:20:21- Are you hungry?- A little bit peckish, yes.- Yeah.

0:20:21 > 0:20:23Tonight we're going to be catching our food

0:20:23 > 0:20:25because we're going fishing.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28Oh-h!

0:20:28 > 0:20:31And then we're going to go back to the hotel and cook it on a barbecue.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34Oh, that will be brilliant. Oh, really, really good fun.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37- What happens if we don't catch anything, Meg?- We go hungry!

0:20:37 > 0:20:42So, the family jump on board expert fisherman Alec's boat

0:20:42 > 0:20:43to go in search of dinner.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46I don't really know

0:20:46 > 0:20:49who's going to get the most fish, but I hope it's me and Megan.

0:20:49 > 0:20:52It's bound to be the adults better at fishing!

0:20:55 > 0:20:56Right, lift 'em up!

0:20:57 > 0:20:58Yeah, I've got two!

0:20:58 > 0:21:00That's brilliant!

0:21:05 > 0:21:07I've got another one.

0:21:09 > 0:21:11Three! I've got three!

0:21:11 > 0:21:13That is brilliant!

0:21:14 > 0:21:16Oh-h!

0:21:16 > 0:21:19I haven't caught anything. I keep catching my line, that's about it.

0:21:19 > 0:21:23Got one! That's six now to the kids!

0:21:23 > 0:21:25I've caught seaweed!

0:21:29 > 0:21:31I've got two!

0:21:31 > 0:21:36I'm just striking my fishing pose here.

0:21:37 > 0:21:38That's a good one!

0:21:38 > 0:21:43- You're the pollock king!- I think you two did brilliantly on there.

0:21:43 > 0:21:45Give me five.

0:21:46 > 0:21:49That's dinner sorted.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52Back at the hotel, the family are tucking into all nine fish.

0:21:52 > 0:21:54That's really nice.

0:21:54 > 0:21:57Mmm! It's definitely the best home-cooked meal

0:21:57 > 0:22:01and certainly the best home-caught meal

0:22:01 > 0:22:03because it's the only home-caught one!

0:22:03 > 0:22:06It's the final morning and the family make their way

0:22:06 > 0:22:09down to the harbour for the next activity.

0:22:09 > 0:22:14This morning we are going to be sailing on a catamaran.

0:22:14 > 0:22:16- Wow!- That will be very exciting. - That is nice.

0:22:26 > 0:22:28Isn't it lovely the sun's out, eh?

0:22:28 > 0:22:29Sara...

0:22:29 > 0:22:31Heave!

0:22:32 > 0:22:33Heave!

0:22:34 > 0:22:36- Wow!- Yeah, it's moving. Look at that now, Meg.

0:22:36 > 0:22:39The tiller away from you and the nose will come round to the left.

0:22:39 > 0:22:43Pull it back that way and the nose will go round to the right, OK?

0:22:43 > 0:22:45I've got every confidence with Megan's sailing.

0:22:45 > 0:22:49That is beautiful, isn't it? To be sailing with the sails up.

0:22:49 > 0:22:52It's really cool being in charge of the boat because

0:22:52 > 0:22:54you get to like go where you want.

0:22:54 > 0:22:56I could get used to this.

0:22:56 > 0:22:58This should be your new hobby.

0:23:00 > 0:23:04I'm the KING OF THE WO-O-ORLD!

0:23:04 > 0:23:05Right, who wants cake?

0:23:05 > 0:23:08- Yummy!- Lovely.

0:23:10 > 0:23:14- Delicious.- Definitely the life, isn't it, girls?- Let's buy a boat.

0:23:14 > 0:23:17The girls decide to head towards St Helens,

0:23:17 > 0:23:18their very own uninhabited island,

0:23:18 > 0:23:22where there's a surprise in store for Mum and Sara.

0:23:22 > 0:23:23As you two know that you

0:23:23 > 0:23:27broke the rule of sunbathing you have to do a consequence.

0:23:27 > 0:23:33- Oh!- You have to go up to the top of your chest in the water.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36- You're having a laugh! - Oh, my goodness.

0:23:36 > 0:23:40And you've to stay there for ten seconds.

0:23:40 > 0:23:43Ten seconds? It's freezing!

0:23:43 > 0:23:48Yes, Sara, that water is a very chilly 13 degrees.

0:23:50 > 0:23:53It was really funny when they got in the cold water.

0:23:53 > 0:23:55Get in, Jo, it's the best way.

0:23:55 > 0:23:57Get in!

0:23:57 > 0:23:59Four, three...

0:24:14 > 0:24:15Come on, Mum!

0:24:16 > 0:24:19Going in the water was freezing, absolutely freezing.

0:24:19 > 0:24:23I know why I don't go in the sea in Britain, it's just way too cold.

0:24:23 > 0:24:27No matter how beautiful and blue it looks, it's too cold.

0:24:27 > 0:24:30- It was a bit of a harsh punishment as well, I do feel.- Yeah.

0:24:30 > 0:24:32I only put the sun cream on!

0:24:34 > 0:24:37So, girls, what's our next activity?

0:24:37 > 0:24:42- Well, our next activity, it's really fun. It's horse riding!- Wow!

0:24:42 > 0:24:43Brilliant.

0:24:45 > 0:24:47Megan and Carys have decided to test their riding skills

0:24:47 > 0:24:49with a trip to the beach.

0:24:49 > 0:24:52The last time I got on a horse I was about 15.

0:24:56 > 0:24:59He's gorgeous.

0:25:01 > 0:25:04Going in the water on the horses was really good fun.

0:25:04 > 0:25:07The horse next to me was dancing in the water, so I got really splashed.

0:25:09 > 0:25:12Oh, this is going brilliantly. I love this.

0:25:12 > 0:25:14It was absolutely fabulous. It was my favourite.

0:25:17 > 0:25:20I'd really like to do horse riding on another family holiday.

0:25:20 > 0:25:23It's really fun going round with your family on a horse.

0:25:23 > 0:25:27We've got some stables near where we live actually, so we might even

0:25:27 > 0:25:29take it up as a family hobby.

0:25:32 > 0:25:36With the break nearly over, tension levels are rising

0:25:36 > 0:25:38as the family go head to head for the treat.

0:26:02 > 0:26:05Mum and Sara, are YOU ready to win the treat?

0:26:05 > 0:26:07- Yeah. Too right.- Definitely.- Yeah.

0:26:07 > 0:26:10Only one half of the family can win, so let's play.

0:26:10 > 0:26:14Girls, I'm going to ask you three questions about your break.

0:26:14 > 0:26:18If you answer two correctly you win the treat, but if you get two wrong

0:26:18 > 0:26:21Mum and Sara will get the treat.

0:26:21 > 0:26:24- Are you ready?- Yeah.

0:26:24 > 0:26:25So, question one,

0:26:25 > 0:26:29how did Sara described the helicopter ride...?

0:26:36 > 0:26:38- Carys, we won't.- OK.

0:26:49 > 0:26:52- Kirsten, we got one right. - Brilliant, well done.

0:26:52 > 0:26:57You only need to get one more right and the treat is yours.

0:26:59 > 0:27:01We've got to get this.

0:27:01 > 0:27:05Question two, who did Mum think was better at the stained glass?

0:27:10 > 0:27:12I think it's um...

0:27:13 > 0:27:15- Mum.- Mum.

0:27:15 > 0:27:16Yeah.

0:27:16 > 0:27:19- I'm going to have to hurry you. - Yeah, just go for it.

0:27:19 > 0:27:21- OK.- Your final answer, please.

0:27:21 > 0:27:23A, Mum.

0:27:24 > 0:27:28I can reveal that the answer was...

0:27:30 > 0:27:32YES!

0:27:33 > 0:27:35We've got it. High five!

0:27:35 > 0:27:37- That's so not fair.- Yeah!

0:27:41 > 0:27:44I'm really glad we won this, not Mum and Sar.

0:27:52 > 0:27:53I love this!

0:27:53 > 0:27:54I think Megan and Carys have proved

0:27:54 > 0:27:57that we should listen to their ideas more often.

0:27:57 > 0:28:01It's the best-ever holiday I've been on. Wow!

0:28:01 > 0:28:04Thank you, Gimme A Break!
