0:00:02 > 0:00:03It's term time again
0:00:03 > 0:00:06and our four magicians have left school on a brand-new mission.
0:00:06 > 0:00:10This time, we are taking unsuspecting kids out of school
0:00:10 > 0:00:13and sending them on school trips.
0:00:13 > 0:00:15They're off to visit some amazing locations
0:00:15 > 0:00:18where they'll witness incredible magic.
0:00:18 > 0:00:22And once again, we're hiding secret cameras in every corner
0:00:22 > 0:00:25so you don't miss a trick on any school trip.
0:00:25 > 0:00:28How long will it take before the classes shout...
0:00:32 > 0:00:33KIDS CHEER
0:00:35 > 0:00:37This is Year 4 getting on the coach.
0:00:37 > 0:00:41They're going to Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum
0:00:41 > 0:00:44and they won't believe what they're about to see.
0:00:45 > 0:00:46That's not John, is it?
0:00:46 > 0:00:50Ah, oh, it's worse. Only joking, handsome!
0:00:51 > 0:00:53The kids are getting close.
0:00:54 > 0:00:58It's time for John to get his magic on, cos in they come.
0:00:58 > 0:00:59It's great to be here.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02Thank you very much for coming to see us here at the attraction.
0:01:02 > 0:01:05Now, I'm one of the curators, that's what I do, I curate the things.
0:01:05 > 0:01:07In fact, I like to think I'm the head curator,
0:01:07 > 0:01:09but I'm not, I'm not the head curator,
0:01:09 > 0:01:13I am actually even better than that, I'm the shrunken head curator.
0:01:13 > 0:01:17That's marvellous that, isn't it? Who's heard of a shrunken head?
0:01:17 > 0:01:20They haven't heard of it, but they won't forget it after John's trick.
0:01:20 > 0:01:22Shrunken heads, right, they don't do them now,
0:01:22 > 0:01:27but hundreds of years ago, the tribes in places like Ecuador and Peru,
0:01:27 > 0:01:31you know, in South America, they used to get the enemies and when
0:01:31 > 0:01:35they'd captured them, they'd shrink their head, right down, really small.
0:01:35 > 0:01:36Grisly but true.
0:01:36 > 0:01:40Now, the problem is, with shrunken heads, there's a lot of fakes,
0:01:40 > 0:01:42you can't tell a real one from the fake ones.
0:01:42 > 0:01:43Now I've got a shrunken head to show you.
0:01:43 > 0:01:45I've got one over here, look.
0:01:45 > 0:01:47They are fascinated by John's chat.
0:01:47 > 0:01:49I hope he doesn't get too big-headed.
0:01:49 > 0:01:53Now brace yourselves because it's an ugly little fella. Look at that.
0:01:53 > 0:01:54Isn't that horrible, eh?
0:01:54 > 0:01:57That little face looks familiar. Maybe I've seen it in a nightmare.
0:01:57 > 0:02:01Now, there's only one way to tell if this is a real shrunken head.
0:02:01 > 0:02:03What we have to do, you see, to tell if it's a real one,
0:02:03 > 0:02:06we have to rehydrate it. You know when you have mashed potato
0:02:06 > 0:02:09and you have that stuff out of the packet, and you put the water in and
0:02:09 > 0:02:11- it goes back up to mashed potato... - She's nodding nervously.
0:02:11 > 0:02:13That's like rehydration.
0:02:13 > 0:02:16So what we can do, if we put all the water and the moisture and vitamins
0:02:16 > 0:02:18back in the head it makes it nice and big, you see, lovely.
0:02:18 > 0:02:21So we can do that with one of these.
0:02:21 > 0:02:25- This is it, this is my rehydration unit.- Or a box of tricks.
0:02:25 > 0:02:27Now, we can give it a try with this one,
0:02:27 > 0:02:29I'll just put the box over here, like that,
0:02:29 > 0:02:32and then when I put the head in the box, you see,
0:02:32 > 0:02:35all the moisture will get sucked out of the atmosphere and put back into
0:02:35 > 0:02:38the head and we find out if it is a real one, that's lovely, isn't it?
0:02:38 > 0:02:41They can't believe this, it sounds impossible.
0:02:41 > 0:02:44We'll have a little look, I'll just put it in here like this. Just there.
0:02:44 > 0:02:47Hang on. Just put it there, look.
0:02:48 > 0:02:51Wonderful, now what will happen, I'll close this door,
0:02:51 > 0:02:56like that, and what happens now is that head gets rehydrated.
0:02:56 > 0:02:59It sucks the moisture from all around us and all the vitamins
0:02:59 > 0:03:03and the minerals and the bits of egg, anything that's in the air...
0:03:03 > 0:03:05John's getting carried away.
0:03:05 > 0:03:06There could be egg in the air, I don't know.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09And it sucks it all in, into that box like that and then hopefully,
0:03:09 > 0:03:12we can find out if it's a real one, you see,
0:03:12 > 0:03:14because if all the air's back in, it should look...
0:03:14 > 0:03:16THE AUDIENCE YELL No!
0:03:16 > 0:03:18Whoa, the shrunken head has rehydrated.
0:03:18 > 0:03:20I nearly done a nervous wee in me pants!
0:03:20 > 0:03:23What I can tell from that, you see, as soon as I've done that,
0:03:23 > 0:03:28I know that that is a real head. It's marvellous, isn't it?
0:03:28 > 0:03:31I've seen that head before. I never forget a face.
0:03:31 > 0:03:35Ain't that good? THE AUDIENCE SCREAMS
0:03:35 > 0:03:37Oh! I think it's a real one.
0:03:37 > 0:03:39I think it's real, boys and girls.
0:03:39 > 0:03:42That's Fergus' head, but where's his body?
0:03:42 > 0:03:45You can see right under the table, there's nowhere to hide.
0:03:46 > 0:03:48Look at you.
0:03:48 > 0:03:51- Oi! What are you doing here? - It speaks.
0:03:51 > 0:03:54I'm just talking to them about shrunken heads and everything,
0:03:54 > 0:03:56I thought you might wonder... HE STUTTERS
0:03:56 > 0:04:01- You...don't even work here!- Ah, no, that's... That's enough of that.
0:04:01 > 0:04:04Don't you shut that trap back up, I'm telling you, don't you do it.
0:04:04 > 0:04:07- Let me out!- Shh, shh.
0:04:07 > 0:04:10The head's back in, the secret's nearly out.
0:04:10 > 0:04:13He's actually right, boys and girls, I don't really work here
0:04:13 > 0:04:16and in fact I don't really talk like this, I talk like this.
0:04:16 > 0:04:19- And my name's John. - And I'm Catherine.
0:04:19 > 0:04:21And this fella here...
0:04:21 > 0:04:23I'm Fergus.
0:04:23 > 0:04:25And we're all magicians.
0:04:25 > 0:04:28And you've all been set up by your teachers and your parents
0:04:28 > 0:04:31and there's a camera over here and there's a camera over there
0:04:31 > 0:04:33and there's one up there and one over there
0:04:33 > 0:04:36and you're all going to appear on CBBC's Help! My School Trip Is Magic.
0:04:36 > 0:04:38THEY CHEER
0:04:41 > 0:04:43That trick was incredible.
0:04:43 > 0:04:46Hope it doesn't go to their heads - shrunken or not!
0:04:48 > 0:04:52It was amazing, it was just amazing.
0:04:52 > 0:04:54It was kind of, like, petrifying to me
0:04:54 > 0:04:58cos I didn't think that would actually happen.
0:04:58 > 0:05:03A petrifyingly good trick and this school trip were totally fooled.
0:05:07 > 0:05:08KIDS CHEER
