0:00:03 > 0:00:06and CBBC has sent four magicians back to school.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09They're pretending to be supply teachers

0:00:09 > 0:00:11so that they can perform amazing magic

0:00:11 > 0:00:13on unsuspecting classes.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16But because you know and love them,

0:00:16 > 0:00:18this time we've cunningly disguised them.

0:00:22 > 0:00:25Then we hid secret cameras all over classrooms

0:00:25 > 0:00:28and watched as they taught spectacular lessons.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31Flying around like a magic saucer.

0:00:33 > 0:00:34That was sick.

0:00:35 > 0:00:39It's more magic, it's more outrageous.

0:00:39 > 0:00:40I was flabbergasted.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43But how long will it take before the classes shout...

0:00:43 > 0:00:47Help! My supply teacher is still magic!

0:00:47 > 0:00:49CHILDREN CHEER

0:00:49 > 0:00:53Hello! It's me, Iain, we're back to school for a new term as

0:00:53 > 0:00:57Help! My Supply Teacher Is Still Magic. You could say it's...

0:00:57 > 0:01:02(DEEP VOICE) Help! My Supply Teacher Is Magic II: The Magic Strikes Back.

0:01:02 > 0:01:07Once again we've swapped regular teachers with magicians.

0:01:07 > 0:01:11And because we know you know them, we've sneakily disguised them.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14We've secretly filmed the results with special cameras

0:01:14 > 0:01:16hidden in the classrooms.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19We're more calculating than someone adding up calculators

0:01:19 > 0:01:21with another larger calculator.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24We're also showing you loads of great tricks, tricks like this.

0:01:24 > 0:01:28Watch the amazing colour-changing hanky.

0:01:28 > 0:01:29It's red.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31HOOT!

0:01:31 > 0:01:32Now it's blue.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35I BLEW on it.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39Oh, just watch the clips.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Fergus is undercover in this science class.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44Another egg!

0:01:44 > 0:01:48He's got a magical machine that makes eggs appear from nowhere

0:01:48 > 0:01:49to scramble their brains.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53John gets up close and magical with a key that's tricky.

0:01:53 > 0:01:57For Fergus' interactive illusion, you will need a deck of cards.

0:01:57 > 0:01:58Have you got them?

0:01:58 > 0:02:01You've been sending in clips of all your best magic tricks

0:02:01 > 0:02:03and later on I will be picking my favourite.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07The Wannabe Wizards are back, and they're even more wizardy.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09But first...

0:02:09 > 0:02:13Do you think you'd be able to tell if your teacher started doing magic?

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Do you?

0:02:15 > 0:02:19This is James, smooth of magic and of head.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21He's not a head teacher, yet.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27The disguise is on - James needs new hair and a limber up.

0:02:29 > 0:02:30Or not.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33BELL RINGS

0:02:33 > 0:02:37Enter, Year Six. They're about to design a logo for their class,

0:02:37 > 0:02:41but by magic, James has already guessed how it will look.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46None of them have noticed the hidden cameras in the classroom

0:02:46 > 0:02:48or recognised James with his funny wig on.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Little do they know,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53they're about to have the best lesson of their lives.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54Morning class.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58My name is Nicholas and I am a graphic designer.

0:02:58 > 0:03:02Now, we're going to design a new logo for your classroom,

0:03:02 > 0:03:03that sound good?

0:03:03 > 0:03:04CHILDREN: Yeah.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07James is pretending to be a graphic designer

0:03:07 > 0:03:09who has come in to teach the class.

0:03:09 > 0:03:10They do not suspect a thing.

0:03:10 > 0:03:15Before a meeting, I like to try and second-guess what my clients like.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18So I'll come up with a design ahead of time

0:03:18 > 0:03:20and I'll sort of make a sketch of it.

0:03:20 > 0:03:21So hopefully when I meet my clients

0:03:21 > 0:03:24they'll see my sketch and it'll be what they had in mind too.

0:03:24 > 0:03:27I've done that with you guys today

0:03:27 > 0:03:30and I've stuck it just in a frame on this door.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32So behind that curtain is a logo

0:03:32 > 0:03:34that James has already designed for the class.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37It would be incredible if the logo they're about to design

0:03:37 > 0:03:39is the same, wouldn't it?

0:03:39 > 0:03:42So table one, you are going to choose the background design.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45You have a choice of colours and we have...

0:03:45 > 0:03:47pink, lilac, yellow,

0:03:47 > 0:03:51- blue, orange or green. What do we choose?- Blue.

0:03:51 > 0:03:52- Blue, sure?- Yeah.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55They've picked blue for the background of their logo,

0:03:55 > 0:03:57but will it match what James chose?

0:03:57 > 0:03:59Start making this design up here.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02We have a nice blue background there.

0:04:02 > 0:04:07Now table two, your job is to choose a different design

0:04:07 > 0:04:09that goes on the background.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13So we could either have a circle, a diamond shape,

0:04:13 > 0:04:15a triangle,

0:04:15 > 0:04:19a shield, or we can have a square.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21- Diamond.- The diamond.

0:04:21 > 0:04:26A diamond is for ever, but is it what James forecast?

0:04:26 > 0:04:28Table three, they've chosen the diamond

0:04:28 > 0:04:30so you get to choose which colour.

0:04:30 > 0:04:36So we can have pink, orange, lilac, green, blue or yellow.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38- Yellow.- Yellow?

0:04:38 > 0:04:39Yes.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43Yellow diamond. So far we've got that. Looks pretty cool so far.

0:04:43 > 0:04:47Now, table number four. I want you to choose a celebrity

0:04:47 > 0:04:50who you think best represents your class.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52Which hero will they choose?

0:04:52 > 0:04:54OK, what have we got?

0:04:54 > 0:04:56- Usain Bolt.- Ronaldo.

0:04:56 > 0:04:58- Usain Bolt?- Yeah.

0:04:58 > 0:04:59Usain Bolt, that's a QUICK choice!

0:04:59 > 0:05:03- IAIN LAUGHS - Cos he's quick and he's...

0:05:03 > 0:05:06A "U" for Usain and a "B" for Bolt, so these are his initials.

0:05:06 > 0:05:08Where would you like them to go?

0:05:08 > 0:05:11- In the middle...in the diamond. - In the middle of the diamond?

0:05:11 > 0:05:12- Yeah.- There?

0:05:12 > 0:05:16- Yeah.- Like this, not at the top? - No.- Not like this?

0:05:16 > 0:05:22- No.- OK, Usain Bolt right in the middle of our diamond, like so.

0:05:22 > 0:05:24"UB" for Usain Bolt.

0:05:24 > 0:05:26But will James get the gold medal for magic?

0:05:26 > 0:05:30Table number five, what I would like you to do is choose

0:05:30 > 0:05:33any number from one to ten. It can be any number you want, OK?

0:05:33 > 0:05:35- Ten.- Ten, OK.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38Like this along the top or along the bottom?

0:05:38 > 0:05:40- Either.- Like this?

0:05:40 > 0:05:42- On the bottom.- On the bottom?

0:05:42 > 0:05:45- Yeah.- Yeah? So we got Usain Bolt - 10 - like that.

0:05:45 > 0:05:47It's coming together.

0:05:47 > 0:05:53Now, I have one last thing that we can add to this picture.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56I've a selection of different symbols that we can use.

0:05:56 > 0:05:59So we can use...

0:05:59 > 0:06:01what looks like a bird.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04- We can use a football.- Football.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07- We can use...tennis rackets.- No.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09We can use grapes.

0:06:09 > 0:06:11- No.- Or a guitar.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14- Yeah.- Nah.- Or a butterfly?

0:06:14 > 0:06:15No!

0:06:15 > 0:06:19Or a red swan, or even a sewing machine.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22- Red swan!- The red swan? OK.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25The class are indecisive - makes it harder for James.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28- Where would you like it to go? - On the bottom.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30- On the top.- Corner, here, here?

0:06:30 > 0:06:33- On the top of the middle. - Here?- Yeah.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36- Is everybody happy with that? - Yeah, that's right.

0:06:36 > 0:06:38And you've all chosen a section of this logo

0:06:38 > 0:06:41and we've ended up with this.

0:06:41 > 0:06:42Isn't that pretty cool?

0:06:42 > 0:06:45The class had a free choice of colours, shapes, letters,

0:06:45 > 0:06:47numbers and symbols.

0:06:47 > 0:06:50If their logo matches the one James already made,

0:06:50 > 0:06:52that will be amazing magic!

0:06:52 > 0:06:55Something like this. And I put the design behind this curtain.

0:06:55 > 0:06:59Remember, the logo James made has been behind the curtain

0:06:59 > 0:07:01in the classroom the whole time.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04I think you'll be surprised when you see...

0:07:05 > 0:07:07..actually...

0:07:07 > 0:07:09CHILDREN: Oh!

0:07:10 > 0:07:12The class can't believe it!

0:07:15 > 0:07:18In fact, it's exactly the same.

0:07:18 > 0:07:21James read their minds and now he's about

0:07:21 > 0:07:24to blow their minds by revealing his secret identity.

0:07:24 > 0:07:28Now, the secret is, I'm not really a designer.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30- You're a magician.- I'm a magician.

0:07:30 > 0:07:34- Yes!- And you are all being filmed for CBBC -

0:07:34 > 0:07:37Help! My Supply Teacher Is Magic.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40No wonder they're excited, that was a sensational trick.

0:07:42 > 0:07:44Let's see what they thought about it.

0:07:45 > 0:07:46It was just crazy.

0:07:46 > 0:07:50The guy said that he was going to do something for our school,

0:07:50 > 0:07:52but he ended up being magic.

0:07:52 > 0:07:57I thought he was actually working for a company, it was so realistic.

0:07:57 > 0:07:58It WAS realistic.

0:07:58 > 0:08:02He got them to choose all the different parts of their design.

0:08:02 > 0:08:03Or a red swan.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05That was just...amazing.

0:08:05 > 0:08:10The logos matched up exactly. How did he do that?!

0:08:10 > 0:08:12Wow, our minds were blown.

0:08:14 > 0:08:18An incredible trick and the class had no idea James was a magician.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20How long would it take for you to shout...

0:08:20 > 0:08:26Help! My supply teacher is still magic!

0:08:27 > 0:08:29Later on, you'll see what happened

0:08:29 > 0:08:33when Fergus went undercover at another school.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36He did a trick with a car, but did he drive them wild?

0:08:36 > 0:08:39Right now though, John is at a car museum

0:08:39 > 0:08:41and he's about to get up close and magical.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44I collect keys, see that? All these keys.

0:08:44 > 0:08:47I used to collect doors, but I had nowhere to keep them!

0:08:47 > 0:08:48And I had no keys,

0:08:48 > 0:08:49I couldn't get in or out.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51We're going to do a trick with a key.

0:08:51 > 0:08:55Emily, want to have a key? Choose a key for me. That's wonderful.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58Can you hold my keys? That's wonderful.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01Rhiannan and Freya - you're not doing anything, just relaxing.

0:09:01 > 0:09:03What I'd like you to do, could you sign your name on a key?

0:09:03 > 0:09:06- That sounds a bit weird.- Yes.

0:09:06 > 0:09:09Can you do that? Take the pen. Just put your initials on the round bit.

0:09:09 > 0:09:13You'll have to take the top off the pen, otherwise it doesn't work!

0:09:13 > 0:09:15Plenty of laughs and some magic coming.

0:09:15 > 0:09:17Emily's signing her initials on the key.

0:09:17 > 0:09:21OK, let me have a look. That's great.

0:09:21 > 0:09:24- Now, IF you saw this key again, would you recognise it?- Yes.

0:09:24 > 0:09:28Cos it's got your signature on, see that? Can you hold your hand out?

0:09:28 > 0:09:31Actually, no, don't do that. Can you hold your hand out?

0:09:31 > 0:09:33Good, and hold the key nice and tight.

0:09:33 > 0:09:37I'll show you something with another key. Now watch, this is incredible.

0:09:37 > 0:09:40See the key? I'm just going to start rubbing it like this.

0:09:40 > 0:09:42As I rub it, watch what happens.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45Nothing, it's amazing, isn't it? But it will, it will...

0:09:45 > 0:09:48John is working his magic on that key.

0:09:48 > 0:09:50Tell me if you see anything happening?

0:09:51 > 0:09:54Can you see? Can you see it starting to bend?

0:09:54 > 0:09:56Very slowly starting to bend up. I'm just rubbing it.

0:09:56 > 0:10:00How's he doing that?! He's making the solid key bend!

0:10:00 > 0:10:02- Is that definitely going?- Yeah. - It is?

0:10:02 > 0:10:06Well, it can do more if I just keep rubbing it down. Rubbing, yeah.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09(Rubbing it, rubbing it.) Now, that... Look.

0:10:09 > 0:10:12Definitely bending up. Look at how much it's gone now!

0:10:12 > 0:10:15Look, if you keep rubbing it, it might bend a little more.

0:10:15 > 0:10:19Is that definitely metal? It doesn't bend back, it's not made of rubber?

0:10:19 > 0:10:23It's been verified that is solid metal and it won't bend back.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26That's amazing, but wouldn't it be really amazing

0:10:26 > 0:10:28if the key you're holding in your hand and you signed,

0:10:28 > 0:10:30if that's bent too?

0:10:30 > 0:10:31Would that be amazing?

0:10:31 > 0:10:36- Open your hand. GASPS:- Cool! That's...

0:10:36 > 0:10:39Nice one, John, but how did he bend the key that Emily signed

0:10:39 > 0:10:42when it's been in her hand the whole time?

0:10:42 > 0:10:44I'll take them off you so you can clap.

0:10:44 > 0:10:49Thank you so much. I'm blushing, I'm blushing!

0:10:49 > 0:10:51I had to write my initials on a key

0:10:51 > 0:10:54and he took out another key and he started rubbing it...

0:10:54 > 0:10:57- And it finally bent... - It finally bent.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00I was holding this one in my hand and when I opened it

0:11:00 > 0:11:03- this key had bent too. Amazing. - It was amazing.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05That's the key to John's success.

0:11:05 > 0:11:08Now Katherine challenges you in Tricks Of The Trade.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11If you fancy yourself as a magician,

0:11:11 > 0:11:14here's a trick you can try on your mates.

0:11:14 > 0:11:18Katherine will show you how to make a knot in the middle of a school tie

0:11:18 > 0:11:22without letting go of it and by only holding the ends.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24Can you work out how to do it?

0:11:24 > 0:11:27Keep watching and you'll find out later in the show,

0:11:27 > 0:11:29it's going to be incredible.

0:11:30 > 0:11:33But right now, we have something amazing for you.

0:11:33 > 0:11:37Have you got a deck of cards ready? This is the interactive illusion.

0:11:37 > 0:11:39This is a trick where you can take part at home.

0:11:39 > 0:11:42So come on, you need to pay close attention, so get up

0:11:42 > 0:11:44and come over here if you want to join in.

0:11:44 > 0:11:47Close enough to see the dust on the top of the screen,

0:11:47 > 0:11:49but not close enough to make you sneeze.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52Go on, get your deck of cards ready now.

0:11:52 > 0:11:58Take your deck and remove a Queen and any two number cards.

0:11:59 > 0:12:03Have you got them? You should have three cards.

0:12:03 > 0:12:08Hold the two number cards face down and then place the Queen

0:12:08 > 0:12:11face down on top.

0:12:11 > 0:12:16Now, I want you to think of a number from one to ten.

0:12:16 > 0:12:22Remember this number as it's your...special...secret...number.

0:12:23 > 0:12:28If your secret number was six, you'd move six cards, just like this.

0:12:28 > 0:12:33One, two, three,

0:12:33 > 0:12:37four, five, six.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39Using your secret number,

0:12:39 > 0:12:44move that number of cards from the top of the packet to the bottom.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46Do that for me now.

0:12:51 > 0:12:54Now, using the same number,

0:12:54 > 0:12:58do it again to mix those cards even further.

0:13:07 > 0:13:11Perfect. Now we'll mix them using my secret number.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14My secret number is two.

0:13:14 > 0:13:18So move two cards from the top to the bottom of the packet,

0:13:18 > 0:13:21remembering one card at a time.

0:13:21 > 0:13:24One...two.

0:13:25 > 0:13:30Now, move two cards from the top to the bottom AGAIN,

0:13:30 > 0:13:34remembering just like before, one card at a time.

0:13:38 > 0:13:43Finally, move your secret number that you thought of earlier

0:13:43 > 0:13:46from the top to the bottom.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58Have you done that? Great.

0:13:58 > 0:14:01So now the cards have been REALLY mixed up

0:14:01 > 0:14:05and there's no way that I could know where the Queen is.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10I'm going to do my best to try and find it.

0:14:10 > 0:14:13I want you to take the top card...

0:14:14 > 0:14:15..and put it to one side.

0:14:18 > 0:14:19Take the next card...

0:14:21 > 0:14:24..and put that to one side, too.

0:14:24 > 0:14:29The last card in your hand is the Queen, check it out!

0:14:33 > 0:14:35Did it work for you?

0:14:35 > 0:14:38Wow, well the quantity of the magic is exhausting

0:14:38 > 0:14:41and the quality has been logic-defying.

0:14:41 > 0:14:43In fact, it's made my brain ache.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46So I feel like I've earned a sit-down.

0:14:46 > 0:14:49But before I do, let's have a look at what's coming up.

0:14:49 > 0:14:51It's all kinds of ridiculousness.

0:14:52 > 0:14:56Katherine will reveal the secret in Tricks Of The Trade.

0:14:56 > 0:14:58Have you worked it out yet?

0:14:58 > 0:15:02James gets up close and magical with a cup-winning trick.

0:15:02 > 0:15:04- THEY GIGGLE - My God!

0:15:04 > 0:15:09And watch what happens when Fergus goes undercover in another school.

0:15:09 > 0:15:10Will he fool the class

0:15:10 > 0:15:14or will they realise their supply teacher is still magic?

0:15:15 > 0:15:19Ooh, each week I'm bringing you another of my new favourite

0:15:19 > 0:15:22magic movers and shakers, doing tricks in their own cribs,

0:15:22 > 0:15:24yards and front rooms.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27We call them the Wannabe Wizards. So I've got my comfy chair.

0:15:29 > 0:15:32I've got my inflatable neck cushion

0:15:32 > 0:15:35and I've got my computer to watch the magic on.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37Let's do this already.

0:15:37 > 0:15:40We asked you to send in clips of yourself

0:15:40 > 0:15:42performing your best magic tricks.

0:15:42 > 0:15:45We received loads of clips from all over the country.

0:15:45 > 0:15:48Each week I'll be choosing a favourite Wannabe Wizard

0:15:48 > 0:15:50and showing them to you guys.

0:15:50 > 0:15:55My Wannabe Wizard this time is card ace Dan from Cambridgeshire.

0:15:55 > 0:15:56I'm going to be performing

0:15:56 > 0:15:58a four ace production routine.

0:15:58 > 0:16:01So let's start off by mixing up the cards

0:16:01 > 0:16:03so we know they're in no special order.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06Give it a bit of a shuffle here.

0:16:06 > 0:16:08A few cuts...

0:16:08 > 0:16:10He's going to find all four aces

0:16:10 > 0:16:12from an extremely shuffled deck.

0:16:12 > 0:16:15Just to make sure that I've no idea where the aces are within the pack.

0:16:15 > 0:16:17Those aces could be anywhere.

0:16:17 > 0:16:19So, get a bit of a normal shuffle...

0:16:19 > 0:16:21and there we go.

0:16:21 > 0:16:22The first time I do this,

0:16:22 > 0:16:25I'm going to try and produce two aces in one.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28It's a bit of a mission, but I think I'm going to accomplish it.

0:16:28 > 0:16:30So just watch, here we go.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32Just like that, the first two aces

0:16:32 > 0:16:34reveal themselves to us.

0:16:35 > 0:16:38Third ace...is a bit more difficult,

0:16:38 > 0:16:39there's only two aces left now

0:16:39 > 0:16:42and as I say, I've got less chance of finding them,

0:16:42 > 0:16:43but still, I think I will.

0:16:43 > 0:16:45Just a quick ripple here

0:16:45 > 0:16:49and there is the third ace.

0:16:49 > 0:16:51Now, the last ace is arguably

0:16:51 > 0:16:54the most difficult ace to produce

0:16:54 > 0:16:56as there is only one left

0:16:56 > 0:16:57in the pack.

0:16:57 > 0:17:00But we're going to give it... a really good shuffle

0:17:00 > 0:17:02so you know it's completely mixed in.

0:17:02 > 0:17:04Using my magical skills,

0:17:04 > 0:17:06hopefully it will be conjured out,

0:17:06 > 0:17:07just like that.

0:17:07 > 0:17:09And there is the fourth

0:17:09 > 0:17:11and final ace.

0:17:11 > 0:17:12How did he find that?

0:17:12 > 0:17:14That's why Dan's

0:17:14 > 0:17:16my Wannabe Wizard this time.

0:17:16 > 0:17:19Now it's time for Katherine to reveal

0:17:19 > 0:17:21the secret in Tricks Of The Trade.

0:17:22 > 0:17:25Katherine will show you how to make a knot in the middle of a school tie

0:17:25 > 0:17:29without letting go and only holding the ends.

0:17:29 > 0:17:32Come on, you worked it out yet? How many of you got it?

0:17:32 > 0:17:35Perhaps you use your teeth?

0:17:38 > 0:17:40Nah!

0:17:40 > 0:17:43How many of you are tying up in knots trying to work it out?

0:17:45 > 0:17:47OK, let me straighten things out.

0:17:50 > 0:17:52Start with your arms crossed.

0:17:55 > 0:17:57Then pick up the ends of the tie.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03Uncross your arms...

0:18:05 > 0:18:08..and there you have it, a perfect knot.

0:18:08 > 0:18:09Did you get it?

0:18:09 > 0:18:14Now you've all got something to show off with in the playground.

0:18:15 > 0:18:18And James is at a theme park getting up close and magical.

0:18:19 > 0:18:22- Hi guys, how you doing?- Hi, fine.

0:18:22 > 0:18:26I want to show you a really cool trick with your signature, OK?

0:18:26 > 0:18:28You can see I've got some business cards here.

0:18:28 > 0:18:32So if you take one. Doesn't matter, just take that, that's fine.

0:18:32 > 0:18:33What I'd like you to do

0:18:33 > 0:18:37is write your name on the white side, nice and big.

0:18:38 > 0:18:42Charlie's writing his autograph on the blank card.

0:18:42 > 0:18:45Yeah? Perfect. If I take that back, take this...

0:18:47 > 0:18:50Now, you can rub that ink, it doesn't come off.

0:18:50 > 0:18:52- No?- No. - Rub a bit. Good work, right.

0:18:52 > 0:18:54You've marked your card in one way, OK?

0:18:54 > 0:18:57We're going to mark it in another way

0:18:57 > 0:19:00by punching a hole straight through the back of the card.

0:19:00 > 0:19:04So if you take this, I'll just punch a hole about there.

0:19:04 > 0:19:07Squeeze. Perfect.

0:19:07 > 0:19:11OK, so just wiggle your finger underneath the hole,

0:19:11 > 0:19:14make sure it's real and you can feel it, make sure it's real.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17So you've marked a card in two different ways.

0:19:17 > 0:19:21You have written your name on it and you've also punched a hole in it.

0:19:21 > 0:19:26Look, if I squeeze I can actually pull that hole...

0:19:28 > 0:19:32..straight off the card and you can check that out.

0:19:33 > 0:19:34Where's it gone?

0:19:34 > 0:19:37Now, that gives a very interesting problem

0:19:37 > 0:19:39and that's, what to do with the hole?

0:19:40 > 0:19:43Let's try this, can I borrow this? Right.

0:19:48 > 0:19:50CHILDREN GIGGLE

0:19:50 > 0:19:53He's moved the hole from the card to the cup!

0:19:53 > 0:19:55Holy Moley, James, that's amazing!

0:19:55 > 0:19:58I signed my name on one of them cards

0:19:58 > 0:20:01and then I hole-punched it

0:20:01 > 0:20:04and then he took the hole off it and then...

0:20:04 > 0:20:07- He put it in the coffee. - ..he put it in the coffee cup.

0:20:07 > 0:20:11And to prove it, he poured it and it came out of the hole.

0:20:11 > 0:20:12My God!

0:20:12 > 0:20:15- Oh, it was amazing. - Thought it was weird!

0:20:15 > 0:20:17I'm trying to work it out.

0:20:18 > 0:20:22Right, I'm going to try that trick - James sent me it in the post.

0:20:22 > 0:20:24I've got everything I need.

0:20:24 > 0:20:28Here's my card, here's the cup and here's some powdered water.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34What do you add to that?

0:20:34 > 0:20:35Next up is Fergus.

0:20:35 > 0:20:39He's pretending to be a supply teacher to fool another class.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42The disguise is on. The hidden cameras are set.

0:20:42 > 0:20:45- BELL RINGS - You'd better get a move on, mate.

0:20:45 > 0:20:48Ooh. He made it for his Year Six class.

0:20:48 > 0:20:51They don't know it, but Fergus is about to give them

0:20:51 > 0:20:53a science lesson they'll never forget.

0:20:53 > 0:20:57None of the class have recognised Fergus in disguise

0:20:57 > 0:20:58or noticed the hidden cameras.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01But will they put two and two together?

0:21:01 > 0:21:04Today, we're going to be talking about cloning,

0:21:04 > 0:21:06because I'm a specialist scientist.

0:21:06 > 0:21:11Now, cloning is making an exact replica of an object or an item.

0:21:11 > 0:21:14Everything, everything in this room, everything around us

0:21:14 > 0:21:17has a molecular map, has an atomic structure.

0:21:17 > 0:21:20It's all made of loads of little things like a code, right?

0:21:20 > 0:21:23If you can work out that code, then in theory,

0:21:23 > 0:21:26you can replicate another object from nothing.

0:21:26 > 0:21:28It's all sounding a bit sci-fi,

0:21:28 > 0:21:30but they still believe he's a supply teacher.

0:21:30 > 0:21:32Bring on the magic.

0:21:32 > 0:21:35For cloning to occur, you need two fundamental things.

0:21:35 > 0:21:40The first one is this rather cool generator.

0:21:40 > 0:21:42How cool's that?

0:21:42 > 0:21:47Now, this generator actually strips and diffuses the DNA.

0:21:47 > 0:21:55The next stage is to send that DNA along a wire

0:21:55 > 0:21:57to a receiver which is here.

0:21:57 > 0:21:58This is my cloning cloth.

0:21:58 > 0:22:00The receiver takes the information

0:22:00 > 0:22:03that's been processed by the generator

0:22:03 > 0:22:07and then it rebuilds it into a real object, an actual physical object.

0:22:07 > 0:22:10Now, this is a basic, basic prototype,

0:22:10 > 0:22:14so we can't use big objects, we can only use small objects.

0:22:14 > 0:22:17- So you'll see on the table I've got an...- Egg.

0:22:17 > 0:22:22Egg. Good. So if I place the egg onto the generator,

0:22:22 > 0:22:25turn the generator on

0:22:25 > 0:22:29and now I programme it to read the DNA of the egg.

0:22:29 > 0:22:32The machine is part of the magic, it cannot clone DNA.

0:22:32 > 0:22:36In fact, the DNA could stand for - Does Nothing Actually.

0:22:36 > 0:22:40- Now, if I take my cloning cloth... - Check it out, the cloth is empty.

0:22:40 > 0:22:42..and I attach this wire.

0:22:42 > 0:22:45All I need to do now is press the transfuser.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47So if I press that,

0:22:47 > 0:22:50what it does is sends the DNA that it's processed,

0:22:50 > 0:22:53all the way along to the cloning cloth.

0:22:53 > 0:22:56And if we wait for just the right amount of time...

0:22:58 > 0:23:05And incredibly, we end up with an identical...egg.

0:23:05 > 0:23:08CHILDREN: Whoa!

0:23:08 > 0:23:10How crazy's that?

0:23:10 > 0:23:14Listen, please, guys, you need to stay nice and quiet for this.

0:23:14 > 0:23:16If you leave it for just a moment to set,

0:23:16 > 0:23:19you can actually reach right in and you'll see it

0:23:19 > 0:23:23looks like a real egg, cracks like a real egg...look at that.

0:23:23 > 0:23:27And if you were to eat that, it would even taste like a real egg,

0:23:27 > 0:23:30- but you wouldn't want to eat that, would you?- Ewww.

0:23:30 > 0:23:33No, no, horrible. But obviously once is OK,

0:23:33 > 0:23:36but what if I could do it a second time, what if I could do it again?

0:23:36 > 0:23:39This is the best science lesson they've ever had

0:23:39 > 0:23:41and it's about to get better.

0:23:41 > 0:23:45All I need to do to do that is attach the wire again...

0:23:46 > 0:23:47..press the transfuser.

0:23:47 > 0:23:50It sends that information along to the cloning cloth

0:23:50 > 0:23:54and when I take the wire off, we get another egg!

0:23:54 > 0:23:57- Whoa!- Isn't that crazy?

0:24:00 > 0:24:03The class love it, but they still don't suspect a thing.

0:24:03 > 0:24:07- Now, do you remember what I said, it only works with...?- Small things.

0:24:07 > 0:24:08Small things.

0:24:08 > 0:24:14So we are going to try and do this with another small item, a toy car.

0:24:14 > 0:24:16So we're going to change that with the egg,

0:24:16 > 0:24:19so the egg can go away for now, so I place the egg away.

0:24:19 > 0:24:23I place the toy car onto the generator

0:24:23 > 0:24:24and we just programme the machine

0:24:24 > 0:24:27to read the molecular structure of the car.

0:24:27 > 0:24:30Then we attach the wire to the cloning cloth just like before,

0:24:30 > 0:24:34press the... Can anyone remember the name of the button?

0:24:34 > 0:24:37- Transfuser. - Excellent, very, very good.

0:24:37 > 0:24:40That information travels along to the cloning cloth

0:24:40 > 0:24:45and we now have...a toy car.

0:24:45 > 0:24:49- Whoa!- How incredible is that?

0:24:49 > 0:24:52Just like with the egg, you can obviously do it once,

0:24:52 > 0:24:54but it's more impressive to do it again.

0:24:54 > 0:24:57Watch - you attach the wire, you press the transfuser again.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00Comes along, along, along.

0:25:02 > 0:25:06And now, d'you know what we have? We have ANOTHER toy car.

0:25:06 > 0:25:09So you've seen the cloned eggs and cars go into the box.

0:25:09 > 0:25:12But here comes the most amazing magic.

0:25:12 > 0:25:14Do you remember I said this wasn't a particularly

0:25:14 > 0:25:16sophisticated piece of machinery?

0:25:16 > 0:25:18They don't last very long,

0:25:18 > 0:25:22they don't hold their molecular bonds, their molecular structure.

0:25:22 > 0:25:25So do you know what the strangest part is?

0:25:25 > 0:25:28- Everything's gone. - Whoa! What's going on?

0:25:28 > 0:25:32- Who enjoyed that experiment?- Me.

0:25:32 > 0:25:36This lesson has been unforgettable, but there's one last trick.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39AND do you do science here at school?

0:25:39 > 0:25:41- Yeah.- Yeah?

0:25:41 > 0:25:43Oh, I forgot to mention one more thing,

0:25:43 > 0:25:45I didn't have the original machine.

0:25:45 > 0:25:48I actually had a clone of the cloning machine

0:25:48 > 0:25:51and d'you remember what happened with the items in the box?

0:25:51 > 0:25:53Well, it's exactly the same with the machine. Watch...

0:25:53 > 0:25:56- that vanishes as well.- Whoa!

0:25:56 > 0:26:00Incredible. And now it's time to fess up.

0:26:00 > 0:26:04Now, I have a slight confession.

0:26:04 > 0:26:07My name isn't even Mr Robinson

0:26:07 > 0:26:10and all of you have been set up by your teachers here,

0:26:10 > 0:26:13by your headmaster, by your family, by your friends

0:26:13 > 0:26:16and you're all being filmed right now for CBBC.

0:26:16 > 0:26:19- There's a hidden camera there. - CHILDREN SCREAM

0:26:19 > 0:26:23And a hidden camera there! On Help! My Supply Teacher's Magic!

0:26:25 > 0:26:28- CBBC!- Yeah!

0:26:29 > 0:26:32Fergus' cloning trick was totally unique,

0:26:32 > 0:26:34but how did the class describe it?

0:26:34 > 0:26:37I thought it was a joke, because I didn't...

0:26:37 > 0:26:40I don't know how someone could really do that.

0:26:40 > 0:26:42The class especially loved it

0:26:42 > 0:26:45when Fergus made everything in the box disappear.

0:26:45 > 0:26:47Flipped the box over, stuff was gone.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49It's gone, it's absolutely gone.

0:26:49 > 0:26:52I was just flabbergasted, I couldn't believe my eyes.

0:26:52 > 0:26:54The best bit was yet to come.

0:26:54 > 0:26:56- That vanishes as well.- Oh!

0:26:56 > 0:27:01The cloth just went straight down and there was no box inside.

0:27:01 > 0:27:05An amazing trick and this class didn't realise.

0:27:06 > 0:27:12Help! My supply teacher is still magic!

0:27:13 > 0:27:16I love genetically reproducing things.

0:27:16 > 0:27:21This is an ice-cream cone and this is an ice-cream CLONE.

0:27:21 > 0:27:23You're welcome.

0:27:23 > 0:27:26See you later, but until then, if you're at school and you think

0:27:26 > 0:27:28something magical's occurring,

0:27:28 > 0:27:30maybe you'll find yourself shouting...

0:27:30 > 0:27:35Help! My supply teacher's still magic!

0:27:46 > 0:27:49Subtitles by Red Bee Media Ltd
