0:02:05 > 0:02:09He's about to go undercover as a supply teacher.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13Hidden cameras are set. Will it be your school? Will it be your class?

0:02:13 > 0:02:14Let's find out.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Here is a class of year sixes. They don't know it yet,

0:02:17 > 0:02:20but John is about to give them a mind-boggling maths lesson.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24None of the class suspect there are cameras in the classroom

0:02:24 > 0:02:27or realise that John is not a real teacher, but can he keep it up?

0:02:27 > 0:02:30- Morning, boys and girls. ALL:- Good morning.

0:02:30 > 0:02:36Anybody like maths? Excellent. I have a new maths system to teach you.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39It is a system called oddulation.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41Oddu-what?!

0:02:41 > 0:02:45It was developed by NASA scientists a few years ago to help cope

0:02:45 > 0:02:47with the current economic system.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50That's a complete lie, John, but they don't suspect a thing.

0:02:50 > 0:02:54It is a subtraction system. It is very easy to learn.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57There are three rules.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Rule one is if you take one away from any number,

0:03:00 > 0:03:02it's the same as the normal subtraction system.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04If you take one away from ten, it would be nine.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06We are with you so far.

0:03:06 > 0:03:12If you subtract an even number, the original number stays the same.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15- Eh?! - If you subtract an odd number,

0:03:15 > 0:03:18your original number is one more than that.

0:03:18 > 0:03:19What?!

0:03:19 > 0:03:22So I've got some cards here and they've got apples on them.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24I got six apples. Count these with me.

0:03:24 > 0:03:31ALL: One, two, three, four, five, six.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Wonderful. If I was to take away one apple,

0:03:34 > 0:03:37how many apples would I have left? Yes?

0:03:37 > 0:03:41Five that's very simple. I have five left.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44ALL: One, two, three, four, five.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47With the oddulation system, when you take one away,

0:03:47 > 0:03:50- it's the same with the normal system. - All normal so far,

0:03:50 > 0:03:54but keep an eye on those cards. This is where the magic starts.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57I'll put this one back so we have six.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00One, two, three, four, five, six.

0:04:00 > 0:04:06If I take two apples away, one, two. How many have I got left?

0:04:06 > 0:04:10Four? That's what you think, but not with the oddulation system.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13With the oddulation system, when you take away an even number,

0:04:13 > 0:04:15you still have the same number left.

0:04:15 > 0:04:22Count with me, one, two, three, four, five, six.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26He originally had six cards. He put two cards on the table,

0:04:26 > 0:04:30but still had six cards in his hand. How's that physically possible?

0:04:30 > 0:04:34I've got six apples, one, two, three, four, five, six.

0:04:34 > 0:04:40I'm going to take away three apples. Watch me. One, two, three.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42How many apples have I got left?

0:04:42 > 0:04:46That's what you'd think, but not with the oddulation system.

0:04:46 > 0:04:50With the oddulation system, when you take away an odd number,

0:04:50 > 0:04:52your original number goes up by one.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55If you take three away from six, with the oddulation system,

0:04:55 > 0:04:59you end up with seven. You're a clever lad.

0:04:59 > 0:05:07Count these with me. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10Whoa, this time, he started with six cards,

0:05:10 > 0:05:13put three down and ended up with seven in his hand.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16My brain hurts but it's an amazing trick.

0:05:16 > 0:05:19I've written some sums on the board here.

0:05:19 > 0:05:21I'd like you to work out the answers in pairs,

0:05:21 > 0:05:23using the oddulation system.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26I'll give you a couple of minutes to do that.

0:05:26 > 0:05:31The class are trying to make sense of John's mysterious maths

0:05:31 > 0:05:35and I feel sorry for them. He's about to tell them the answer.

0:05:37 > 0:05:40Stop, stop, stop. Quiet, please.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42What did you say?

0:05:42 > 0:05:44How many people are confused?

0:05:44 > 0:05:47- Everyone!- Everyone?

0:05:47 > 0:05:50You can't see me but my hand's up as well. Come on, John.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52Put them out of their misery.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55There is no such thing as the oddulation system.

0:05:55 > 0:06:00I just made it up. And I'm not really a teacher. I'm actually a magician.

0:06:00 > 0:06:05I'm here filming a secret magic show for CBBC.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07It's called Help! My Supply Teacher's Magic.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10There is a camera here and there is one over there.

0:06:10 > 0:06:12Count those cameras.

0:06:12 > 0:06:14All: Hello.

0:06:14 > 0:06:18He did it. John's magical maths trick has totally fooled the class.

0:06:18 > 0:06:24First, he had six cards, took two away but still had six in his hand.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27When you take away an even number, you still have the same number left.

0:06:27 > 0:06:29I was really confused.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31All the time, he was putting it down,

0:06:31 > 0:06:34he was pulling out more cards than he had.

0:06:34 > 0:06:39Next, he had six cards, took three away, but ended up with seven cards.

0:06:39 > 0:06:44- Seven. You're a clever lad. - I thought, "It's not possible."

0:06:44 > 0:06:47We were totally confused. It was mind blowing.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51John pulled it off. The class had no idea he was a magician.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54Would you realise your supply teacher was magic?

0:06:59 > 0:07:07Five, four, three, two, six...

0:07:07 > 0:07:11That will never catch on. Sorry,

0:07:11 > 0:07:14I am just trying to get out of this straight jacket.

0:07:14 > 0:07:18If I do, Keira Knightley says she's going to go on a date with me.

0:07:18 > 0:07:22- She's going to give me a call... - MOBILE RINGS

0:07:22 > 0:07:27Can someone get the phone for me?!

0:07:27 > 0:07:32Later on, Fergus will also be going undercover as a supply teacher.

0:07:32 > 0:07:37He has a lesson that will rip up the rulebook. Is this your class?

0:07:37 > 0:07:41Right now, he is going to teach you the secret behind the trick.

0:07:41 > 0:07:43You can do it at home.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50If you fancy yourself as a magician,

0:07:50 > 0:07:53here's a trick you can try on your mates.

0:07:53 > 0:07:58You will need a bowl of cold water, a glass and some kitchen roll.

0:07:58 > 0:08:02If you haven't got them already, go and get them know, quick.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05Have you got them? Ready? Good.

0:08:05 > 0:08:09Do you know how to put the tissue paper under the water

0:08:09 > 0:08:12and bring it out without it getting wet?

0:08:12 > 0:08:14Can you work it out?

0:08:14 > 0:08:18Keep watching and you'll find out later in the show.

0:08:18 > 0:08:22Right now, ace magician Katherine is about to do a trick

0:08:22 > 0:08:25you'll never be able to work out.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28This is Rebecca and Jess. They are with their dad

0:08:28 > 0:08:31and they are about to star in their own magic show.

0:08:31 > 0:08:34I'll show you something amazing with two playing cards.

0:08:34 > 0:08:39I have the king of hearts and the four of clubs.

0:08:39 > 0:08:43This is the face of the card and this is the back of the card.

0:08:43 > 0:08:51I am going to fold the four in half, face inwards

0:08:51 > 0:08:54and with the king,

0:08:54 > 0:09:00I'm going to fold that face outwards.

0:09:00 > 0:09:01But longways like this.

0:09:01 > 0:09:05Jess, what I'd like you to do is write your name

0:09:05 > 0:09:10on the bottom of the card.

0:09:10 > 0:09:14Neat handwriting!

0:09:14 > 0:09:18If you can put a little J in each corner.

0:09:23 > 0:09:27Perfect. I'm going to place the four

0:09:27 > 0:09:31in between the king like this.

0:09:31 > 0:09:38And turn it over so they king is trapped inside,

0:09:38 > 0:09:43the face inwards with your signature drawn inside.

0:09:43 > 0:09:48Rebecca, I'd like you to hold your hand out, face down. That's perfect.

0:09:48 > 0:09:50Hold on to the card.

0:09:50 > 0:09:54Remember, the king is folded face inwards inside the four.

0:09:54 > 0:09:58Watch this. Can you feel that?

0:09:58 > 0:10:01Yes.

0:10:01 > 0:10:02Let go.

0:10:02 > 0:10:06Look at that. Amazingly, the card has turned over.

0:10:06 > 0:10:10The king has flipped inside out. That's incredible.

0:10:10 > 0:10:12But there's more.

0:10:12 > 0:10:16I'd like you to pinch the bottom of the card here.

0:10:16 > 0:10:18Watch.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28Look. Amazingly, the card has flipped over.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30How did that happen?!

0:10:30 > 0:10:31It's flipped again.

0:10:31 > 0:10:33When I do this trick,

0:10:33 > 0:10:36they always want to see it without me covering up the ends.

0:10:36 > 0:10:40So I'll show you what it looks like.

0:10:44 > 0:10:46How did she do that?

0:10:46 > 0:10:50That's impossible. Each end of the card is a different way round.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52Great trick.

0:10:52 > 0:10:56She put the two together and they were different on both sides.

0:10:56 > 0:10:59It was really weird but really good at the same time.

0:11:00 > 0:11:04Right now, we have something amazing for you.

0:11:04 > 0:11:06This is the interactive illusion.

0:11:06 > 0:11:10This is the trick you can take part in at home.

0:11:10 > 0:11:17Come a bit closer. Are you ready? Are you sure? Good. Here is Fergus.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24You're going to need a pack of cards

0:11:24 > 0:11:28and to clear some space on the floor in front of the TV.

0:11:28 > 0:11:33From the top of the deck, pick up a pair of cards - that's two -

0:11:33 > 0:11:37and separate them, placing them in front of your TV,

0:11:37 > 0:11:41one on this side over here, and one on this side here.

0:11:41 > 0:11:43Take another pair and separate those,

0:11:43 > 0:11:47adding them on to the cards you've already placed down.

0:11:47 > 0:11:50You're starting to make two different piles.

0:11:50 > 0:11:54Take another pair and separate those.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56Repeat this process with me.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00And again...

0:12:00 > 0:12:02and again...

0:12:02 > 0:12:04and again.

0:12:06 > 0:12:11You now have two, equal piles of cards.

0:12:11 > 0:12:16I want you to take one extra card and add it to the pile on your left.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18That's this pile right over here.

0:12:20 > 0:12:23I'm going to reach out of the TV

0:12:23 > 0:12:26and take that extra card from your pile over here

0:12:26 > 0:12:31and move it all the way over to this one here.

0:12:31 > 0:12:33Are you ready?

0:12:42 > 0:12:48Now, the extra odd card that you placed in this pile

0:12:48 > 0:12:51is now over here.

0:12:51 > 0:12:54So that pile there now has an extra card.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58Don't believe me?

0:12:58 > 0:13:02Pick up the packet on this side and separate them out into pairs.

0:13:07 > 0:13:09See? The extra card is now missing.

0:13:10 > 0:13:15Now pick up the packet on your right and separate them into pairs.

0:13:21 > 0:13:26As impossible as it seems, I did reach out of the TV

0:13:26 > 0:13:30and move one card across. Isn't that amazing?

0:13:30 > 0:13:32Wow! Did it work for you?

0:13:33 > 0:13:36Every week, we are bringing you a chart

0:13:36 > 0:13:38of the magic movers and shakers.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41We're calling the chart Wannabe Wizards.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43I've got my comfy chair,

0:13:43 > 0:13:45I've got my trusty laptop,

0:13:45 > 0:13:50I've got some jelly snakes, and I've got a cushion for added comfort.

0:13:50 > 0:13:52Let's do this thing.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55We asked you to send in clips of yourself

0:13:55 > 0:13:57performing your best magic tricks.

0:13:57 > 0:14:00We received loads of clips from all over the country.

0:14:00 > 0:14:04Each week, I'll be choosing my five favourite Wannabe Wizards

0:14:04 > 0:14:06and showing them to you guys.

0:14:06 > 0:14:11Number five this time is card-dealing Dylan from Belfast.

0:14:11 > 0:14:13So, we've got a two and a three.

0:14:13 > 0:14:17The two of hearts and the three of diamonds. Remember those.

0:14:17 > 0:14:19Could you put them in the deck for me,

0:14:19 > 0:14:22and show them, one by one, what you're doing?

0:14:23 > 0:14:25His brother's putting the cards

0:14:25 > 0:14:28randomly into the deck. Nice one, bro.

0:14:31 > 0:14:33So those two cards are back somewhere in the pack,

0:14:33 > 0:14:37and the magic's about to happen. It's going to be great.

0:14:37 > 0:14:40And we're looking for cards two and three. Yeah.

0:14:40 > 0:14:42Three, two, one...

0:14:42 > 0:14:45- Kapow!- I've got two cards in my hand.

0:14:47 > 0:14:50- The two and the three. - They're the ones.

0:14:50 > 0:14:54Well, the two and the three, and two and three put you at five.

0:14:54 > 0:14:56But at number four it's Zoe from Royston

0:14:56 > 0:15:02and her amazing baton-twirling skills. Wow, watch her go!

0:15:02 > 0:15:05Not strictly magic, but still head-spinning.

0:15:05 > 0:15:10And if you think that's cool, she's upped her game with two batons.

0:15:10 > 0:15:13Watching those, I'm feeling a bit dizzy.

0:15:14 > 0:15:18Whoa, glad whoever's on camera is keeping their distance.

0:15:18 > 0:15:20Spintastic stuff, Zoe,

0:15:20 > 0:15:25and she's going to pass the baton to Jordan from Liverpool.

0:15:25 > 0:15:29So, he's got four random cards with the two of diamonds on top.

0:15:29 > 0:15:32- Keep your eye on the two. - So we'll take the two,

0:15:32 > 0:15:37place it down and place the rest of the deck on top.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39As soon as I do that, I snap my fingers...

0:15:39 > 0:15:42He made the two jump from the bottom to the top!

0:15:42 > 0:15:45..and place it in the third position.

0:15:45 > 0:15:48- We all know where it is. It's in the third position, right?- Yeah.

0:15:48 > 0:15:50- Wrong.- He made it jump again.

0:15:50 > 0:15:53I'm going to put it down, right here. Where is it now?

0:15:53 > 0:15:56You think it's on the table, right?

0:15:56 > 0:15:57Wrong.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00We'll speed it up a bit. I'll take the two, place it on the bottom...

0:16:00 > 0:16:02See if you can keep up.

0:16:02 > 0:16:05I've placed it on the bottom once more, just so I can't cheat.

0:16:05 > 0:16:08it's still on top. I'll place it down on the table,

0:16:08 > 0:16:11It's still on top again. Now, I'm not getting this.

0:16:11 > 0:16:13HE'S not getting it? I'm not either,

0:16:13 > 0:16:16unless he's got four of the same card.

0:16:16 > 0:16:18Everybody says that I have four twos,

0:16:18 > 0:16:21cos it's a bit obvious, I would admit,

0:16:21 > 0:16:25but I don't have four twos, that's the thing. I have a ten...

0:16:25 > 0:16:27I have another ten...

0:16:27 > 0:16:29I have another ten...

0:16:29 > 0:16:33and the weird thing is, I don't just have three tens...

0:16:33 > 0:16:36- I have four.- He has got the same card, except they've changed

0:16:36 > 0:16:39from the two of diamonds to the ten of clubs.

0:16:39 > 0:16:40Wow! Did you keep up?

0:16:40 > 0:16:43Angus from London can certainly keep up.

0:16:44 > 0:16:46He's about to do an amazing levitation.

0:16:46 > 0:16:52Whoa, here we go. He's floating in mid air!

0:16:52 > 0:16:53How's he doing that?

0:16:53 > 0:16:55It goes right over my head.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57And touch down.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00Who's my favourite, though?

0:17:00 > 0:17:01I'm not going to tell you yet,

0:17:01 > 0:17:03not before I put on my funny chart-show voice.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08At five it's Dylan with the two-card throw-down.

0:17:09 > 0:17:11Zoe's spinning up the charts at four.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16Jordan's got the cards jumping at three.

0:17:16 > 0:17:17It's still on top.

0:17:17 > 0:17:22Going up at two, it's Angus, and it was nearly my favourite,

0:17:22 > 0:17:25but out of the tons of clips of Wannabe Wizards,

0:17:25 > 0:17:27my top one this time was...

0:17:27 > 0:17:29Liam from Ashingdon.

0:17:29 > 0:17:32You just tell me when you'd like me to stop.

0:17:32 > 0:17:35- He's got his mum to help. - Stop.- OK.

0:17:36 > 0:17:38Now would you show the camera, please?

0:17:38 > 0:17:41It's a five of spades. Nice one, Mum, we've got it.

0:17:41 > 0:17:43I'm just going to deal some piles out.

0:17:45 > 0:17:49He's randomly splitting the pack into piles.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51I'll put this card face up.

0:17:51 > 0:17:53Some piles are face down, some are up,

0:17:53 > 0:17:56but the only way this trick is going is up.

0:17:56 > 0:18:00Face up. What I'm going to do is shuffle these two piles together.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03He's shuffling two piles together.

0:18:03 > 0:18:05And then what I'm going to do

0:18:05 > 0:18:07is I'm going to shuffle these two piles together.

0:18:07 > 0:18:10He's now shuffling them in with another pile.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12Remember, his mum has the five of spades.

0:18:15 > 0:18:17All shuffled and correct.

0:18:17 > 0:18:21- Now, would you please reveal your suit?- Spades.- Spades.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23Check it out, some are face up!

0:18:23 > 0:18:26Now, I've got ace of spades, two of spades, three of spades,

0:18:26 > 0:18:29four, no five, six, seven, eight, nine ten...

0:18:29 > 0:18:32- They're all spades. - ..jack, queen and I've got a king.

0:18:32 > 0:18:35- Now was your card the five of Spades?- Yes.

0:18:35 > 0:18:39His mum's card is the missing spade! How did that happen?

0:18:39 > 0:18:41Top trick. Steady!

0:18:42 > 0:18:46Can't wait until next time for more Wannabe Wizards.

0:18:46 > 0:18:48Well, there's another trick to stick in your bag

0:18:48 > 0:18:50for the next family party.

0:18:50 > 0:18:53Better than having to sit through Uncle Murdoch

0:18:53 > 0:18:56doing his "pull my finger" routine. Disgusting.

0:18:56 > 0:18:59Now, I've been practising a lot since we last saw each other,

0:18:59 > 0:19:03and I think you're going to enjoy my special trick I have for you.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06The amazing floating vase trick. Watch this.

0:19:06 > 0:19:09HE CLEARS HIS THROAT

0:19:09 > 0:19:12Nothing on top, nothing underneath.

0:19:16 > 0:19:19Probably should have put something underneath. Um...

0:19:19 > 0:19:21- PHONE RINGS - S-sorry!

0:19:22 > 0:19:25Hello? Auntie Gladys!

0:19:27 > 0:19:29You're watching?

0:19:29 > 0:19:31No, it just looked like your vase.

0:19:31 > 0:19:33Your vase is missing?

0:19:33 > 0:19:37Uncle Murdoch's there? D-don't pull his finger!

0:19:39 > 0:19:40Here's what's coming up.

0:19:40 > 0:19:43Obviously, don't try the floating vase trick at home,

0:19:43 > 0:19:45it was stunt glass, OK? In the meantime,

0:19:45 > 0:19:48have you worked out the secret to Fergus' challenge?

0:19:48 > 0:19:50If you haven't got a bowl of cold water,

0:19:50 > 0:19:54a glass and a kitchen roll, get them now - hurry!

0:19:54 > 0:19:57See James baffle this brother and sister,

0:19:57 > 0:19:58but can you work out how he does it?

0:19:58 > 0:20:02And watch what happens when Fergus goes undercover in another school.

0:20:02 > 0:20:06Could it be your class? Could your supply teacher be magic?

0:20:06 > 0:20:09It's the moment you've been waiting for,

0:20:09 > 0:20:11a chance to learn how to fool your friends.

0:20:13 > 0:20:16Me and Fergus challenged you to put this tissue paper

0:20:16 > 0:20:20under the cold water and bring it out without it getting wet.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23Come on, have you worked out? How many of you got it?

0:20:23 > 0:20:27Maybe you'd think it works by putting the tissue under the table,

0:20:27 > 0:20:29cos that's still under the water.

0:20:29 > 0:20:31Nah, still a clever answer though.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37You put the kitchen roll in the bottom of the glass

0:20:37 > 0:20:40and put it mouth-down in the bowl of water.

0:20:40 > 0:20:42Fergus is putting it under the water,

0:20:42 > 0:20:45but it won't get wet. Check this out.

0:20:51 > 0:20:54It's as dry as a bone. Let's get a rewind.

0:20:56 > 0:20:58You need to make sure you push the tissue paper

0:20:58 > 0:21:01right up tight into the cup, so it stays there.

0:21:01 > 0:21:04That will leave enough room for air in the cup,

0:21:04 > 0:21:05and that's how it stays dry.

0:21:06 > 0:21:10Did you get it? Are you amazing already?

0:21:10 > 0:21:14Now you've all got something to show off with at home.

0:21:15 > 0:21:19In Undercover Magic we hide cameras in all sorts of places.

0:21:19 > 0:21:23Our magicians play tricks on members of the public

0:21:23 > 0:21:25who don't know they're being filmed.

0:21:25 > 0:21:28James is an expert at sleight-of-hand magic,

0:21:28 > 0:21:30he's also slightly funny.

0:21:30 > 0:21:33He's about to do a trick in this cafe.

0:21:33 > 0:21:34This is Kevin and Cindy.

0:21:34 > 0:21:36They've been set up by their mum -

0:21:36 > 0:21:39they have no idea what's about to happen.

0:21:39 > 0:21:44Ah great, thank you, thank you very much. Excellent, that's great.

0:21:44 > 0:21:46James loves scrambled egg on toast,

0:21:46 > 0:21:50and he always adds a magical ingredient.

0:21:52 > 0:21:54James can't get any sauce out,

0:21:54 > 0:21:57but it's all a trick and he's about to get Kevin and Cindy's attention.

0:22:03 > 0:22:05Um, sorry. In your... In your bucket,

0:22:05 > 0:22:08you wouldn't happen to have some tomato sauce, would you?

0:22:08 > 0:22:10This one, there's not much left in this.

0:22:10 > 0:22:12Keep watching, some tasty magic is about to happen.

0:22:12 > 0:22:14No? That's a shame.

0:22:14 > 0:22:16Ooh, I could try this.

0:22:16 > 0:22:18Keep your eyes on the tomato sauce.

0:22:18 > 0:22:21There's a cool way of trying to get the last bit at the bottom.

0:22:21 > 0:22:23Yeah, I'll try this, I...

0:22:25 > 0:22:29Let's just cover it. Don't want to get your clothes dirty.

0:22:29 > 0:22:31I use one more just to be safe, just to be safe.

0:22:35 > 0:22:37You see the bottle? Yeah?

0:22:41 > 0:22:43Whoa, that's incredible!

0:22:43 > 0:22:46- Much better. - Let's get a rewind.

0:22:47 > 0:22:50You see the bottle? Yeah?

0:22:54 > 0:22:59He's turned the tomato sauce into an actual tomato. That's amazing!

0:23:00 > 0:23:03You haven't got a knife and fork as well, have you?

0:23:03 > 0:23:06It's time now for another unsuspecting class

0:23:06 > 0:23:08to be fooled by our magician, Fergus.

0:23:08 > 0:23:11He's at another school,

0:23:11 > 0:23:14he's going undercover as a supply teacher to do an incredible trick.

0:23:14 > 0:23:17Is it your school? Is it your class? And...

0:23:17 > 0:23:22when will the class realise their supply teacher is magic?

0:23:22 > 0:23:25These year six pupils think they're coming in for a regular lesson,

0:23:25 > 0:23:29but this lesson is going to well and truly rip up the rule book,

0:23:29 > 0:23:31and put it back together again.

0:23:31 > 0:23:35None of the class suspect there are cameras hidden in their classroom,

0:23:35 > 0:23:39or realise that Fergus is not a real teacher, but can he keep it up?

0:23:39 > 0:23:42I'd like to start off talking about the environment.

0:23:42 > 0:23:46If you think a whole car weighs one tonne,

0:23:46 > 0:23:54from paper alone we create 12.5 million tonnes of waste.

0:23:54 > 0:23:57All seems factually correct so far,

0:23:57 > 0:23:59and the class believe he's a boring teacher, but not for long.

0:23:59 > 0:24:03Now, recycling is an amazing process

0:24:03 > 0:24:07which actually involves reusing something

0:24:07 > 0:24:09rather than discarding it as waste.

0:24:09 > 0:24:12I better not reuse any old jokes then, eh?

0:24:12 > 0:24:15So, when do we recycle? Once something has been...?

0:24:16 > 0:24:19Used, very good.

0:24:19 > 0:24:21So once something has been destroyed...

0:24:24 > 0:24:27- Like that... - Huh? He just ripped the poster.

0:24:27 > 0:24:29I thought you weren't supposed to be wasteful?

0:24:29 > 0:24:31Now, I don't want you to do this at home

0:24:31 > 0:24:33with either your sister's Justin Bieber posters

0:24:33 > 0:24:35or your brother's football posters.

0:24:35 > 0:24:37Or your brother's Justin Bieber posters

0:24:37 > 0:24:39or your sister's football posters.

0:24:39 > 0:24:43Now, when it's destroyed, you leave it outside your house

0:24:43 > 0:24:45in a little green box,

0:24:45 > 0:24:48and after it's been left in that green box

0:24:48 > 0:24:51someone comes along and collects it.

0:24:51 > 0:24:54Does anyone know where they take that?

0:24:54 > 0:24:57- Yeah?- To a factory. - To a factory, very good.

0:24:57 > 0:25:01He's well and truly ripping that poster to pieces, but why?

0:25:01 > 0:25:03What did the poster ever do to him?

0:25:03 > 0:25:06After that, because lots of people have used the paper,

0:25:06 > 0:25:10what's the problem with it? Because its been used and it's old, it's...?

0:25:10 > 0:25:12Yeah?

0:25:12 > 0:25:14It's got lots of germs and it's dirty,

0:25:14 > 0:25:19so that paper is treated with chemicals and water.

0:25:19 > 0:25:23- Keep watching that poster. - So it's cleaned.

0:25:24 > 0:25:31After that, it's taken and put under huge steam rollers,

0:25:31 > 0:25:33massive steam rollers...

0:25:33 > 0:25:37He's ripped it up into tiny pieces and scrunched it together,

0:25:37 > 0:25:40but some magic's happening. What's he going to do?

0:25:40 > 0:25:42..and the final result is what?

0:25:44 > 0:25:45Yeah?

0:25:47 > 0:25:49Mush everything out, and the final result

0:25:49 > 0:25:52is a brand-new piece of paper

0:25:52 > 0:25:54and a better...

0:25:54 > 0:25:56world.

0:25:56 > 0:26:03Whoa! He made the ripped-up poster whole again! that is incredible!

0:26:03 > 0:26:06Let's get a recycle, I mean rewind.

0:26:06 > 0:26:11The final result is a brand-new piece of paper

0:26:11 > 0:26:13and a better...

0:26:13 > 0:26:14world.

0:26:14 > 0:26:20Ta-da! Still amazing. He's turned the class's minds to papier-mache.

0:26:20 > 0:26:24It's time for Fergus to tear away his secret identity.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27I have one final thing to tell you.

0:26:27 > 0:26:31Of course, whilst I am very interested in recycling,

0:26:31 > 0:26:32I'm not really a teacher.

0:26:32 > 0:26:35I am a magician,

0:26:35 > 0:26:39and, something that none of you know,

0:26:39 > 0:26:45you're all being filmed with secret cameras in this classroom right now

0:26:45 > 0:26:51for a new CBBC show called Help! My Supply Teacher Is Magic!

0:26:52 > 0:26:54Wave at the one at the back,

0:26:54 > 0:26:58and there's also a little camera in this box, here.

0:26:58 > 0:27:01He did it, Fergus' brilliant recycling trick

0:27:01 > 0:27:03has totally fooled the class.

0:27:03 > 0:27:07First he folded the poster, then he ripped it, he ripped it again,

0:27:07 > 0:27:11- and again...- I'm going to try that with a normal piece of paper.

0:27:11 > 0:27:15..then he fixed it in one magical moment right before their eyes.

0:27:15 > 0:27:18He just opened the paper out, I was like, "What?"

0:27:18 > 0:27:22Fergus pulled it off! The class had no idea he was a magician.

0:27:22 > 0:27:27We totally got them and they loved it.

0:27:33 > 0:27:37I think we can all agree that that was another stunner of a show.

0:27:37 > 0:27:40We'll see you later, but until then, if you're at school

0:27:40 > 0:27:43and you think something magical might be brewing,

0:27:43 > 0:27:48get ready to shout, "Help! My Supply Teacher is Magic."
