0:00:01 > 0:00:02It's a brand new term
0:00:02 > 0:00:06and CBBC has sent these four magicians back to school.
0:00:06 > 0:00:09They're some of the hottest magicians in the country.
0:00:09 > 0:00:11And when they're not in your classrooms,
0:00:11 > 0:00:15they're out in public, thrilling families.
0:00:24 > 0:00:27Catherine's going to set you a magical challenge
0:00:27 > 0:00:28in Tricks Of The Trade.
0:00:28 > 0:00:31Catherine will show you how to spin this
0:00:31 > 0:00:35glass of juice around turning it upside down without spilling a drop.
0:00:35 > 0:00:37Can you work out how to do it?
0:00:37 > 0:00:40Keep watching and you will find out later in the show.
0:00:40 > 0:00:42It's going to be incredible.
0:00:42 > 0:00:47Now Fergus is at a theme park getting up close and magical.
0:00:47 > 0:00:50- Right, boys, do you know what an autograph is?- Yeah.- Yeah?
0:00:50 > 0:00:53It's when you get a signature from a famous person.
0:00:53 > 0:00:57Now, I collect them on these cards, but you can see at the moment,
0:00:57 > 0:00:59I don't have any autographs.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02What I'd like you to do, Joseph, is to take one of these out,
0:01:02 > 0:01:07and I'd like you to be the very first autograph in my collection.
0:01:07 > 0:01:09- Does that sound good?- Yeah.
0:01:09 > 0:01:14So then scribble your autograph, or your name, across that card.
0:01:17 > 0:01:18Lovely jubbly.
0:01:18 > 0:01:22And then if you can just hold it up to that camera there,
0:01:22 > 0:01:24and that's perfect. Good.
0:01:24 > 0:01:28Now, obviously, when I start collecting a lot of these autographs,
0:01:28 > 0:01:33going through and looking for particular ones becomes difficult.
0:01:33 > 0:01:37Here's what's incredible. Watch your card.
0:01:37 > 0:01:40If I put your card halfway down amongst the others,
0:01:40 > 0:01:44all I have to do to get it back is say your name. Joseph.
0:01:44 > 0:01:47And look, it comes back up to the top.
0:01:47 > 0:01:50- How did he do that?!- Watch it again.
0:01:50 > 0:01:53This time, it's going to stay face up.
0:01:53 > 0:01:59It'll go about two thirds of the way down in the deck.
0:01:59 > 0:02:02You're going to see the moment the ink rises.
0:02:02 > 0:02:04At the moment, nothing.
0:02:04 > 0:02:08- That top card is black.- When I count down from three, say Joseph.
0:02:08 > 0:02:12- Three, two, one.- Joseph!- Look! Oh, my gosh!
0:02:12 > 0:02:14Wow.
0:02:14 > 0:02:17When I get lots of these autographs,
0:02:17 > 0:02:21sometimes I have to get rid of signatures I don't want,
0:02:21 > 0:02:24and I can do that by rubbing.
0:02:24 > 0:02:26He made Joseph's signature vanish, but how?
0:02:26 > 0:02:29I like Joseph and I like your signature, so I want that back.
0:02:29 > 0:02:31- What do you see there?- Blank.
0:02:31 > 0:02:34It's blank on the front and back.
0:02:34 > 0:02:38This trick is going to be great, unless Fergus blows it.
0:02:38 > 0:02:40- He did blow it! - And blow - look what comes back.
0:02:40 > 0:02:44They can't believe it! But it's going to get even better.
0:02:44 > 0:02:48Now, Ned, what I'd like you to do is hold your right hand out for me,
0:02:48 > 0:02:52and I'd like you to put your left hand on top of your right hand
0:02:52 > 0:02:54and look after Joseph's card.
0:02:54 > 0:02:55Don't let Joseph's card go.
0:02:55 > 0:03:00Now, I'm going to sign my autograph on a card. Is that OK with you three?
0:03:00 > 0:03:03- What do you see there?- Nothing. - Nothing. What do you see there?
0:03:03 > 0:03:05- Nothing.- Blank and blank.
0:03:05 > 0:03:07So, if I take the pen,
0:03:07 > 0:03:11I'm going to put my autograph across the back of this card.
0:03:11 > 0:03:16- Here we go.- So Fergus has his own autograph and they've got Joseph's.
0:03:16 > 0:03:19So I've got my autograph card. Whose autograph card have you got?
0:03:19 > 0:03:21- Joseph's.- Joseph's. Very good.
0:03:21 > 0:03:27If I pick up Joseph's autograph card and mine, watch this.
0:03:27 > 0:03:28Does the ink move there?
0:03:28 > 0:03:30Rub it for yourself, Joseph.
0:03:30 > 0:03:31It doesn't move, does it?
0:03:31 > 0:03:34When I collect, maybe over the course of a year,
0:03:34 > 0:03:37loads and loads of autographs, it's better to not have them
0:03:37 > 0:03:41on two separate cards, but drag one off one of the cards
0:03:41 > 0:03:48and put them both together for ever with Joseph on the one card.
0:03:48 > 0:03:52And just look at that! A great trick signed and sealed.
0:03:52 > 0:03:53Thank you very much. Well done.
0:03:53 > 0:03:59- I couldn't understand it at all. It was mind-blowing.- Incredible.
0:04:00 > 0:04:02Wicked!
0:04:03 > 0:04:05Now it's time for Catherine to reveal
0:04:05 > 0:04:07the secret in Tricks Of The Trade.
0:04:07 > 0:04:11Catherine will show you how to spin this glass around,
0:04:11 > 0:04:15turning it upside down, without spilling a drop of liquid.
0:04:15 > 0:04:18Can you work it out? How many of you got it?
0:04:18 > 0:04:21Maybe you think it works by freezing the liquid.
0:04:22 > 0:04:25Nah. This is simple but very impressive.
0:04:25 > 0:04:27All you do is hold the mouth of the glass
0:04:27 > 0:04:32and spin it 360 degrees in one movement and without hesitating.
0:04:32 > 0:04:35Something called inertia keeps the liquid in the glass,
0:04:35 > 0:04:39and keeps you and your friends from getting wet.
0:04:39 > 0:04:42If you try it, please go outside and use water instead of juice,
0:04:42 > 0:04:46or else your friends may not thank you for it. Did you get it?
0:04:46 > 0:04:48Are you amazing already?
0:04:48 > 0:04:50Cheers, Catherine.
