0:01:52 > 0:01:57Could you spot a magician pretending to be a supply teacher?

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Could you? Really?

0:02:00 > 0:02:04This is Fergus. He's cheeky and very sneaky.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06He's about to go undercover as a supply teacher.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09The hidden cameras are set. Will it be your school?

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Will it be your class? Let's find out.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Here's a year three class.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15They don't know it yet,

0:02:15 > 0:02:19but Fergus is going to teach them about weather.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21I don't know "weather" they'll believe it or not!

0:02:21 > 0:02:25None of the class suspect there are cameras hidden in their classroom,

0:02:25 > 0:02:29or realise that Fergus is not a real teacher, but can he keep it up?

0:02:29 > 0:02:33Now, today's lesson is about precipitation.

0:02:33 > 0:02:34Precipi-what?

0:02:34 > 0:02:40That's a very posh word for something very simple. Precipitation is rain.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42Ah, now you're talking, Fergus.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45He's got their attention and the magic's on its way.

0:02:45 > 0:02:50Who can tell me what might happen if it's a bit colder? It becomes...

0:02:50 > 0:02:51- CHILDREN:- Snow.

0:02:51 > 0:02:58Very good. Now, snow is formed of something called snowflakes.

0:02:58 > 0:03:03Does anyone know what a snowflake looks like? Yeah?

0:03:03 > 0:03:07I'm going to show you with this piece of paper.

0:03:07 > 0:03:11Now, obviously it's not quite as big as this.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13Fergus is getting all creative.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16I can't wait to see what his snowflake looks like.

0:03:16 > 0:03:20So here's what my snowflake looks like.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22Ah.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24It looks a bit more like a doughnut, doesn't it?

0:03:24 > 0:03:27His art skills are not up to scratch,

0:03:27 > 0:03:31but the class have warmed to him and there's some cool magic coming up.

0:03:31 > 0:03:38Now, I'd like to tell you about my very first time I saw snow.

0:03:38 > 0:03:43I went to somewhere called Lapland.

0:03:43 > 0:03:49Lapland is where somebody lives that you might see at Christmas time.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52Someone I see at Christmas? Oh, my mum!

0:03:52 > 0:03:56- Do you know who I'm talking about? CHILDREN:- Santa!

0:03:56 > 0:03:57Ah, Santa, of course!

0:03:57 > 0:04:03When I arrived in Lapland, unfortunately, it was quite sunny,

0:04:03 > 0:04:07so all the snow had started to melt and go a bit slushy,

0:04:07 > 0:04:12so we begun a two-day trek into the very heart of Lapland.

0:04:12 > 0:04:16We were pulled on sleighs by huskies.

0:04:16 > 0:04:21As we drew closer to the heart of Lapland,

0:04:21 > 0:04:27it begun to get colder and colder.

0:04:28 > 0:04:33I could hear some faint music in the distance.

0:04:33 > 0:04:37That music sounded a little bit like this.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39CHRISTMAS MUSIC

0:04:39 > 0:04:45- And do you know what happened? - No, what happened? What happened?!

0:04:49 > 0:04:50What's he doing?

0:04:50 > 0:04:54And as we drew closer, amazingly, as it got colder and colder,

0:04:54 > 0:04:55it begun...

0:04:59 > 0:05:00..to snow.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03Whoa! Fergus is making it snow in the classroom!

0:05:03 > 0:05:08And it was amazing! And it carried on, look!

0:05:08 > 0:05:11An indoor snowstorm, that's amazing!

0:05:11 > 0:05:12And it carried on, didn't stop.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15Snowed and snowed and snowed.

0:05:15 > 0:05:18Look, the class are trying to grab the snow to make snowballs.

0:05:18 > 0:05:23And that was my first experience of Lapland.

0:05:24 > 0:05:25An astonishing trick.

0:05:25 > 0:05:29Fergus is now going to let them in on his little white lie.

0:05:29 > 0:05:35I haven't really been to Lapland.

0:05:35 > 0:05:37You lied! You lied!

0:05:37 > 0:05:40There's a very good reason why I told that little lie.

0:05:40 > 0:05:45Right now, this second, you're all being filmed

0:05:45 > 0:05:49on a new CBBC magic show

0:05:49 > 0:05:52and there's a camera in that box there and there's a camera

0:05:52 > 0:05:55in the box behind you and you're all going to be on TV!

0:05:55 > 0:05:57CHILDREN CHEER

0:06:00 > 0:06:01He did it!

0:06:01 > 0:06:05Fergus is a blizzard wizard and has totally fooled the class.

0:06:06 > 0:06:10First, Fergus made an... unconvincing snowflake.

0:06:10 > 0:06:11Looks like...

0:06:11 > 0:06:14I never knew that he was going to do that.

0:06:14 > 0:06:16I thought he was just going to teach us.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19Then he took the snowflake and turned it into a blizzard

0:06:19 > 0:06:21and it went down a storm.

0:06:21 > 0:06:24And he was like...and then it comes blasting out everywhere.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27Awesome. Brilliant.

0:06:27 > 0:06:28It was fantastic.

0:06:28 > 0:06:33Fergus pulled it off. The class had no idea he was a magician.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36Would you realise your supply teacher was magic?

0:06:41 > 0:06:45Later, Katherine will also be going undercover as a supply teacher.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49She's going to blow this class's mind with a mind-reading trick.

0:06:49 > 0:06:50Is this your class?

0:06:51 > 0:06:55This is John. He's going to teach you the secret

0:06:55 > 0:06:57behind a trick you can use at use at home.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04If you fancy yourself as a magician,

0:07:04 > 0:07:07here's a trick you can try on your mates.

0:07:07 > 0:07:10All you need is a tape measure. If you haven't got one already,

0:07:10 > 0:07:13go and get one now. Go on, hurry up.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16In the meantime, John will do these face exercises.

0:07:16 > 0:07:18You back? Ready? Good.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20Do you know how to work out someone's age

0:07:20 > 0:07:24by using only a tape measure? Can you work it out?

0:07:24 > 0:07:27Keep watching and you'll find out later in the show.

0:07:27 > 0:07:31But right now, we have something amazing for you.

0:07:31 > 0:07:34This is an interactive illusion.

0:07:34 > 0:07:37This is a trick that you can take part in at home, so, come on,

0:07:37 > 0:07:41get nice and close to the screen so you can follow all the action.

0:07:41 > 0:07:44You smell awful. Here's John.

0:07:48 > 0:07:52Were going to do a trick with the 12 animals from the Chinese calendar.

0:07:52 > 0:07:56They are a rooster, goat, dragon, ox,

0:07:56 > 0:08:02horse, rat, dog, snake, monkey, rabbit, tiger and a pig.

0:08:02 > 0:08:07You're going to put your finger here and move the animals like this.

0:08:09 > 0:08:15First, I want you to think of a secret number between 5 and 15.

0:08:16 > 0:08:18Have you got one? Good.

0:08:18 > 0:08:22Now, starting here, move your finger around the animals

0:08:22 > 0:08:25the same amount of times as your secret number,

0:08:25 > 0:08:30so if your secret number was six, you'd move six times, like this:

0:08:30 > 0:08:35One, two, three, four, five, six.

0:08:35 > 0:08:38So in this case, you'd be on the rabbit.

0:08:38 > 0:08:43Remember, starting here, move your finger the same amount of times

0:08:43 > 0:08:46equal to your secret number.

0:08:46 > 0:08:53Are you ready? Here we go. One, two, three, four...

0:08:53 > 0:08:56That's it, keep going till your secret number,

0:08:56 > 0:08:59and then stop and keep your finger there. Keep going.

0:09:01 > 0:09:05Oh, some of you have chosen quite a big number. OK, perfect.

0:09:05 > 0:09:09Stay right where you are. Let me take these away.

0:09:09 > 0:09:12Now, move in the other direction,

0:09:12 > 0:09:15the same number that you've just moved.

0:09:15 > 0:09:20That's moving this way the same amount equal to your secret number.

0:09:20 > 0:09:26Are you ready? One, two, three, four...

0:09:33 > 0:09:38OK. Good. Leave your finger where it is now.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41Now, I know you're not thinking of the goat, the rat,

0:09:41 > 0:09:45the snake or the rabbit, so I'll remove those.

0:09:46 > 0:09:52Now, you can move four more times either this way or this way.

0:09:52 > 0:09:57That's four times in either direction. Are you ready?

0:09:57 > 0:10:01One, two, three, four.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05Keep your finger there.

0:10:05 > 0:10:09Now, I know you're not thinking of the dragon, the ox or the pig.

0:10:09 > 0:10:11Keep your finger touching the screen

0:10:11 > 0:10:15and concentrate on the animal you are touching.

0:10:15 > 0:10:19You're thinking of the tiger.

0:10:19 > 0:10:20TIGER ROAR

0:10:20 > 0:10:22What was that?

0:10:23 > 0:10:26Do you know what calendars like to eat?

0:10:26 > 0:10:28Dates.

0:10:29 > 0:10:33Sorry, that joke's a bit dry. Every week, we have been bringing you

0:10:33 > 0:10:37the top five chart of new magicians on the block.

0:10:37 > 0:10:38I've got my comfy chair.

0:10:40 > 0:10:44I've got my trusty laptop and I've got a big bowl of grapes.

0:10:44 > 0:10:48Seedless, obviously. Hit it.

0:10:48 > 0:10:50We asked you to send in clips of yourself

0:10:50 > 0:10:52performing your best magic tricks.

0:10:52 > 0:10:56We received loads of clips from all over the country.

0:10:56 > 0:10:59Each week, I'll be choosing my five favourite wannabe wizards

0:10:59 > 0:11:01and showing them to you guys.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04Number five this time is Ed from Beaconsfield

0:11:04 > 0:11:08with his appearing ball trick. Oh, there it is in the right hand.

0:11:08 > 0:11:12That's it, put it in the pocket. There it is again.

0:11:12 > 0:11:18Get in that pocket. Oi! This time he's really going to get rid of it.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21Oh, would you believe it? But watch this. It's gone!

0:11:21 > 0:11:23Why didn't you do that in the first place?

0:11:23 > 0:11:26Appearing at number four, it's Connor from Birmingham,

0:11:26 > 0:11:30and he appears to be on carpet of giant playing cards.

0:11:30 > 0:11:35Would it be a magic carpet? So it's the ace of diamonds at the top,

0:11:35 > 0:11:38a quick flip, and it turns into the king of diamonds.

0:11:38 > 0:11:41That was a great trick for starters, but there's more.

0:11:42 > 0:11:47He's put the king of diamonds in the middle of the deck.

0:11:47 > 0:11:51But, pow, it's back at the top. Amazing! Keep your eye on that card.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53This bit will really shake you up.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55See what I mean? It's the king of spades.

0:11:55 > 0:11:57Great trick, but I dig this better.

0:11:57 > 0:11:59It's Calvin from Dudley with a real classic.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02He's got the cups-and-balls trick.

0:12:02 > 0:12:05I'll do it from my hand through the cups onto that.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07Three, two, one.

0:12:08 > 0:12:12Whoa! The ball went through the top two cups onto the bottom cup.

0:12:12 > 0:12:14Two, one, boof.

0:12:14 > 0:12:18Now two balls on the bottom cup. Do you think he can get his hat-trick?

0:12:18 > 0:12:19One last time.

0:12:21 > 0:12:23Three, two, one.

0:12:24 > 0:12:27Goal! Man of the match!

0:12:27 > 0:12:30But no match for Thomas from the Isle of Man

0:12:30 > 0:12:32with his never-say-die attitude.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35I went to the magic shop the other day

0:12:35 > 0:12:40and I asked the man if he had a red-and-white die and he said,

0:12:40 > 0:12:47"It's your lucky day. It comes inside this red-and-white die box."

0:12:47 > 0:12:50So that box has got to be bigger than the die, right?

0:12:50 > 0:12:52You know what's cool? When you're performing,

0:12:52 > 0:12:57you can put the box inside the die.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00Whoa! He put the big box into the smaller die.

0:13:00 > 0:13:01How is that possible?

0:13:01 > 0:13:03He said...

0:13:04 > 0:13:07"..Take the box out of the die..."

0:13:07 > 0:13:10This is a proper conundrum. Watch this.

0:13:10 > 0:13:15"..You open it up

0:13:15 > 0:13:18"and you put the die in and I said,

0:13:18 > 0:13:22"Well, that's really cool, but is there any other colours?"

0:13:22 > 0:13:26And he said, "Yes. I've just had this one shipped in from China."

0:13:26 > 0:13:28This is the best bit.

0:13:28 > 0:13:31"It's right here."

0:13:31 > 0:13:33Ta-dah!

0:13:33 > 0:13:36Who's my favourite, though? I'm not going to tell you yet,

0:13:36 > 0:13:39not before I put on my funny chart show voice.

0:13:39 > 0:13:43At number five, it's Ed's reappearing ball.

0:13:43 > 0:13:47On the carpet of cards, it's Connor at four.

0:13:47 > 0:13:50Calvin scores a hat-trick at three.

0:13:50 > 0:13:52Three, two, one.

0:13:52 > 0:13:57Thomas's impossible die rolls in at two, and he was nearly my favourite,

0:13:57 > 0:14:00but out of all of the clips of Wannabe Wizards,

0:14:00 > 0:14:02my top one this time was..

0:14:02 > 0:14:05Ruby from Rotherham with her jumping jacks.

0:14:05 > 0:14:08All right, so first I just need you to look at these cards.

0:14:08 > 0:14:13These are a random and ordinary pack of cards.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15But where are the jacks?

0:14:15 > 0:14:20You may or may not have noticed that I didn't put the jacks in there...

0:14:20 > 0:14:22I did notice, but only cos I saw it before.

0:14:22 > 0:14:27Four jacks. All right? So we can just pop them there.

0:14:27 > 0:14:30So she's put the four jacks back on the top of the deck.

0:14:30 > 0:14:36This trick is about me controlling these jacks to jump around the deck

0:14:36 > 0:14:40where I want them to, so this first jack, I'm just going to pop him

0:14:40 > 0:14:43to the bottom of the deck and if he does his job properly

0:14:43 > 0:14:45and with a bit of luck...

0:14:46 > 0:14:47..he jumps.

0:14:47 > 0:14:52Whoa! That jack jumped through the deck from the bottom to top.

0:14:52 > 0:14:57And if you do your job properly, under my control and my spell...

0:14:57 > 0:14:59Ouch!

0:14:59 > 0:15:01..he jumps to the bottom.

0:15:01 > 0:15:03Not a surprising jump with encouragement like that.

0:15:03 > 0:15:07This jack, I'm going to pop in the deck...

0:15:08 > 0:15:15..the wrong way, and if he can flip and turn round within seconds,

0:15:15 > 0:15:17then it must be magic.

0:15:17 > 0:15:18Got to love a catchphrase.

0:15:18 > 0:15:19Sure enough.

0:15:19 > 0:15:21That jack flipped and jumped to the top.

0:15:21 > 0:15:28This jack, I'm going to pop in somewhere in the middle of the deck,

0:15:28 > 0:15:30and if he does his job properly,

0:15:30 > 0:15:35I'll make him turn all the way round.

0:15:35 > 0:15:39So, Ruby made three jacks jump and the fourth's about to flip.

0:15:39 > 0:15:42Here it comes. Here it comes.

0:15:42 > 0:15:43In the deck.

0:15:43 > 0:15:44Wa-hay!

0:15:44 > 0:15:46Thanks for watching.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48The pleasure is all ours.

0:15:48 > 0:15:51Can't wait until next time for more Wannabe Wizards.

0:15:51 > 0:15:55Right now, I've got something pretty cool to show you.

0:15:55 > 0:15:59I'm going to make this £10 note go from one pocket to another.

0:15:59 > 0:16:02There's a £10 note. Just put it in there.

0:19:53 > 0:19:56Make sure the metal end is touching the tape measure.

0:19:56 > 0:19:59Pinch the tape measure at the year the person was born

0:19:59 > 0:20:01and on the other side will be their age.

0:20:04 > 0:20:06Did you get it? Are you amazing already?

0:20:06 > 0:20:10Now you've all got something to show off with in the playground.

0:20:40 > 0:20:44I've just got a job interview in one of the shops down there.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46I need an opinion on a tie. Is it too much?

0:20:49 > 0:20:51I'm worried about the jacket.

0:20:51 > 0:20:54The jacket might be a bit creased. Is it looking OK?

0:20:54 > 0:20:57Or maybe the blue tie with the stripy... Is that better?

0:21:09 > 0:21:12Or maybe the blue tie with the stripy...

0:21:12 > 0:21:14That's incredible!

0:21:14 > 0:21:16I'm three hours late, so I've got to go. Thanks.

0:21:16 > 0:21:19Their faces say it all.

0:21:19 > 0:21:22I felt a bit confused and shocked at what just happened.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24Crazy.

0:21:24 > 0:21:28Now it's time for mind-bending Katherine

0:21:28 > 0:21:30to fool another unsuspecting class.

0:21:38 > 0:21:43And will this class realise that their supply teacher is magic?

0:21:43 > 0:21:46These year four pupils think they're coming in for science,

0:21:46 > 0:21:50but there's no formula to this lesson. It's totally experimental.

0:21:50 > 0:21:52The classroom's been rigged with hidden cameras

0:21:52 > 0:21:57and Katherine has got a mind-reading trick they'll never predict.

0:21:57 > 0:21:58Good morning, everybody.

0:22:01 > 0:22:03Now, we're going to be learning about mind reading.

0:22:03 > 0:22:06That's right, she said mind reading.

0:22:06 > 0:22:10That sounds exciting and I don't think they'll mind this lesson.

0:22:10 > 0:22:15This is a mind-reading device which my uncle has very kindly lent to me,

0:22:15 > 0:22:18because he works in a university as a professor,

0:22:18 > 0:22:22so if I put this mind-reading device on my head, I put it on to receive,

0:22:22 > 0:22:25I should be able to get some of your thoughts here in the room.

0:22:25 > 0:22:27You naughty little liar, Katherine.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30This story is just part of the trick.

0:22:30 > 0:22:33The aerial needs to be up as well.

0:22:33 > 0:22:35The aerial doesn't make any difference,

0:22:35 > 0:22:38cos there's no such thing as a mind-reading device, people!

0:22:41 > 0:22:44I've just had a thought come in, "She looks silly in that hat."

0:22:44 > 0:22:46That's what I was thinking!

0:22:46 > 0:22:50"How old is she?" is something else. "When's break time?" Right, OK.

0:22:50 > 0:22:54I'm getting a lot of thoughts, but I don't know who they're coming from

0:22:54 > 0:22:58unless somebody else is wearing the other device.

0:22:58 > 0:23:02Here we go. That means the magic's on the way.

0:23:02 > 0:23:06So, who would like to have a go at mind reading?

0:23:06 > 0:23:09Of course! Mind reading sounds great and they all believe it.

0:23:09 > 0:23:11- Yes, what's your name?- Tiago.

0:23:11 > 0:23:13Tiago? OK. Tiago, come on up here.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15Lucky Tiago.

0:23:15 > 0:23:20He has no idea he's going to play a massive part in this amazing trick.

0:23:20 > 0:23:24We're going to put the device on your head.

0:23:24 > 0:23:26Looking good, mate.

0:23:26 > 0:23:31Give him a set of these pictures. We've got here a flagpole,

0:23:31 > 0:23:37a chair, traffic lights, a bike, lots of different pictures,

0:23:37 > 0:23:41and I'm going to have an identical set myself, so you hold onto them.

0:23:41 > 0:23:46Now, I'm going to put yours here onto send and mine onto receive.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49She's turning those buttons, but they don't do anything.

0:23:49 > 0:23:52How on earth is Katherine going to read his mind?

0:23:52 > 0:23:55Now, what I'd like you to do is have a look through all the pictures

0:23:55 > 0:24:00and when you're thinking of one of them, let me know.

0:24:00 > 0:24:03He's chosen carefully and he's not letting Katherine see.

0:24:03 > 0:24:05Have you got one?

0:24:05 > 0:24:11OK, I want you to take that picture out and focus on it. That's perfect.

0:24:11 > 0:24:15He's got the tree, but Katherine has no idea.

0:24:15 > 0:24:18I have no idea what you're thinking of.

0:24:18 > 0:24:19I just said that!

0:24:19 > 0:24:22Now, Tiago, I'm going to attempt to read your mind,

0:24:22 > 0:24:25so close your eyes and visualise that image in your head very vividly,

0:24:25 > 0:24:28almost like a dream. Are you doing that for me?

0:24:28 > 0:24:30Tree, tree, tree, tree, tree.

0:24:33 > 0:24:37Right. Yep, I've definitely just had something come through here.

0:24:37 > 0:24:39I think I know what you're thinking of.

0:24:41 > 0:24:43I'm going to take the picture out...

0:24:45 > 0:24:50..and what I'd like you to do is pick up your picture out of this pile,

0:24:50 > 0:24:53hold it close to you so no-one can see it.

0:24:53 > 0:24:58I'm going to show everyone what I think you're thinking of.

0:25:00 > 0:25:01CHILDREN: Oh!

0:25:01 > 0:25:06Yay, she got it! But how?! My brain hurts, but it's not over yet.

0:25:06 > 0:25:08This was no fluke.

0:25:11 > 0:25:13We're going to get you to read my mind.

0:25:13 > 0:25:15Yeah, I'm speechless too.

0:25:15 > 0:25:21So, this time, you're on receive and I'm on send.

0:25:21 > 0:25:26Now, Tiago will read Katherine's mind. But how? He's not a magician.

0:25:26 > 0:25:29I'm going to have a look through all the different pictures.

0:25:35 > 0:25:39OK, so I've got a picture in my mind and I'm concentrating on it.

0:25:41 > 0:25:43And I'm sending it over to you now.

0:25:43 > 0:25:47What I want you to do is pick up the pictures,

0:25:47 > 0:25:50and when you think you know what I'm thinking of,

0:25:50 > 0:25:52I want you to take that picture out.

0:25:55 > 0:25:57I can't wait for this.

0:25:58 > 0:25:59Don't show me the pictures.

0:25:59 > 0:26:02I'm so confused. Will he read her mind?

0:26:02 > 0:26:06Take out the picture that you think I'm thinking of.

0:26:07 > 0:26:14OK, so I'm going to take out the picture I was thinking of.

0:26:14 > 0:26:19OK. I'd like you to turn over the picture...

0:26:19 > 0:26:23Has he done it? Has he done it? I'm going to hold my breath.

0:26:23 > 0:26:24I can't hold it any more!

0:26:24 > 0:26:25Whoa! He done it!

0:26:27 > 0:26:31Wow, isn't that amazing? Thank you very much.

0:26:31 > 0:26:33You can go and sit back down again.

0:26:33 > 0:26:35It's a mind-blowing trick,

0:26:35 > 0:26:39but it's time for Katherine to reveal her big secret.

0:26:39 > 0:26:41- Do you want to know something? CHILDREN:- Yes.

0:26:41 > 0:26:43That's not really a mind-reading device.

0:26:43 > 0:26:45- CHILDREN:- What?!

0:26:45 > 0:26:49That was a magic trick and I'm not a teacher, I'm a magician.

0:26:49 > 0:26:54And if you give a wave over there and a wave over there,

0:26:54 > 0:26:59you're being filmed right now to be on a new CBBC magic show.

0:27:12 > 0:27:15I didn't know how he knew what she was thinking.

0:27:15 > 0:27:19Then, incredibly, Tiago read Katherine's mind,

0:27:19 > 0:27:22which has got me totally bamboozled.

0:27:22 > 0:27:26I was really shocked when I found out this was a show.
