0:00:45 > 0:00:50This is Help! My Supply Teacher is Magic and I am Iain.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52We've fooled hundreds of you

0:00:52 > 0:00:56by swapping regular teachers with magicians.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59We even secretly film the results

0:00:59 > 0:01:04with special cameras hidden in the classroom.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06We have got way more moves than Jagger.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08MUSIC: "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Just one of my moves.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13We've got loads of other great tricks, like this one.

0:01:13 > 0:01:18I've been teaching myself balloon modelling.

0:01:18 > 0:01:19I can make a dog.

0:01:19 > 0:01:23Check this out, it's pretty... It's pretty impressive.

0:01:26 > 0:01:32This balloon's faulty, just play the clips.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36Katherine's going undercover

0:01:36 > 0:01:38to cause mayhem in this class of year sixes.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40So I'll just pop the seed in the soil.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43- Look, she makes a carrot grow in lightning-quick time.- Look at that!

0:01:43 > 0:01:47But will she have the class eating out of her hand?

0:01:47 > 0:01:51We're going to teach you a magic trick so you can fool your friends.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Grab a pencil and a pack of playing cards so you can join in.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58Plus, you've been sending in clips of all your best magic tricks

0:01:58 > 0:02:01and later on, I'll be picking my five favourites.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Will you be one of my wannabe wizards?

0:02:04 > 0:02:09They're not going to believe I made this. I can't even blow it up.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Hi. I made a dog. Woof, woof.

0:02:12 > 0:02:17Could you spot a magician pretending to be a supply teacher?

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Could you, really?

0:02:20 > 0:02:22This is John, he's a magical ace.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26He's also a bit of a joker. He's gone undercover as a supply teacher.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29The hidden cameras are set.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Is it your school? Is it your class? Let's find out.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36John's about to give year five a geography lesson

0:02:36 > 0:02:38that's out of this world.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41They know the geography of the classroom as they find their seats,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43but none suspect there are hidden cameras everywhere

0:02:43 > 0:02:46or realise that John isn't a real teacher.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49- Good morning, boys and girls.- Hello.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51I'm going to give you a lesson on geography.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Now who can tell me where the world is?

0:02:54 > 0:02:56- Yes.- In space.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59It's in space, but it's not out there in space,

0:02:59 > 0:03:00it's here in space, isn't it?

0:03:00 > 0:03:04- Because we're on the earth.- We may be in space, but watch THIS space,

0:03:04 > 0:03:08because John's going to make something appear from nowhere.

0:03:08 > 0:03:09What do we have on the world?

0:03:09 > 0:03:12- Yes?- Countries.- Very good. Lots of countries.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15The class is worldly wise, but John's about to

0:03:15 > 0:03:17turn their world upside down.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20I thought what I'd do, is draw a picture of the whole world

0:03:20 > 0:03:24so you can see it and you could maybe help me with some of the details.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26So, who can tell me first of all,

0:03:26 > 0:03:30what else do we have in space apart from the world?

0:03:30 > 0:03:33- Yes?- Stars.- Stars, excellent. I'll draw a few stars.

0:03:33 > 0:03:34John's drawing on the pad

0:03:34 > 0:03:38and he's drawing the class in even further with his trick.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41- What else do we have? Yes? - The moon.- I'll draw the moon.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44Very convincing, but he's hardly Da Vinci.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47Now who can tell me, what shape is the earth? Yes?

0:03:47 > 0:03:50- A sphere.- It's round, isn't it?

0:03:50 > 0:03:53So we'll draw the world here. We said there were lots of countries,

0:03:53 > 0:03:56so I'll see if I can remember all of the countries.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58Right at the top here we've got Antarctica,

0:03:58 > 0:04:01and underneath Antarctica we've got Greenland,

0:04:01 > 0:04:03but it's not green because I've been to Greenland -

0:04:03 > 0:04:05it's lots of different colours.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08Russia, they speak funny languages in Russia and you can't understand

0:04:08 > 0:04:10unless you're Russian...

0:04:10 > 0:04:14If there's a world cup for talking, John would win hands down.

0:04:14 > 0:04:16We've got Great Britain, that's where we live,

0:04:16 > 0:04:19you've got Scotland at the top where they play the bagpipes.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22Who needs text books? John's a human joke book.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25Europe, Europe's very big and it's got lots of countries in it.

0:04:25 > 0:04:29Then you've got America over here, and it's very big and loud

0:04:29 > 0:04:30cos it's full of Americans.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33And now the world isn't flat like that is it? It's not flat.

0:04:33 > 0:04:38- It's not. What shape is the world? You said it earlier.- A sphere.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40it's like a ball. Hundreds of years ago,

0:04:40 > 0:04:42before mushy peas were invented...

0:04:42 > 0:04:44They must suspect he's not a real teacher by now.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47..he sailed across, he sailed across the whole world.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50The class is all going along with John's unusual lesson,

0:04:50 > 0:04:51but they're about to get a shock.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53He discovered the world wasn't flat,

0:04:53 > 0:04:56he discovered it was a sphere and very heavy, like that.

0:04:56 > 0:05:01- Whoa!- Whoa! That made them jump. Can we get a rewind?

0:05:01 > 0:05:05And he discovered it was a sphere, and very, very heavy.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07- Like that.- Whoa!

0:05:07 > 0:05:11And look, this is the amazing thing, it's vanished from space.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14- Wow!- Isn't that weird?

0:05:14 > 0:05:17APPLAUSE Now...

0:05:17 > 0:05:18An earth-shattering trick.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Time for our supply teacher to reveal he's from the world of magic.

0:05:21 > 0:05:26- Do you want me to show you how I did that?- Yes.- I'm not really a teacher.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29- They cannot believe it. - I'm a magician.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32- Ah!- I know. And this isn't really a lesson.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34We're actually filming this for a BBC show

0:05:34 > 0:05:37called Help! My Supply Teacher is Magic,

0:05:37 > 0:05:40and there's cameras all around filming you.

0:05:40 > 0:05:44There's a camera in that box, over there and at the back

0:05:44 > 0:05:47and there's a camera over here

0:05:47 > 0:05:49and you're all going to be on television.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51CLASS CHEERS

0:05:51 > 0:05:55He did it! John's brilliant trick has totally fooled the class.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57These teachers at school are kind of boring,

0:05:57 > 0:06:00so if he is a teacher and a magician at the same time,

0:06:00 > 0:06:03we'll want to go to school every day.

0:06:03 > 0:06:07First, John drew his funny version of the world on a pad.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11You've got Scotland at the top, where they play the bagpipes.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14I was amazed because he made like, just paper

0:06:14 > 0:06:20turn into this plastic globe, world, so it was scary.

0:06:20 > 0:06:24Then he made the round globe appear from the flat pad.

0:06:24 > 0:06:26- Whoa!- And when he opened the pad,

0:06:26 > 0:06:29his drawing of the world had disappeared.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31What is he going to do next?

0:06:31 > 0:06:34Is he going to make his head come off?

0:06:34 > 0:06:37John pulled it off. Not his head. The class had no idea

0:06:37 > 0:06:42he was a magician. Would you realise your supply is magic?

0:06:42 > 0:06:46Help! My supply teacher is magic! Yay!

0:06:46 > 0:06:50I have my own version of that trick. Watch this.

0:06:55 > 0:06:57Do you know what that is?

0:06:57 > 0:07:00That's a drawing of a sheet of paper. Watch this.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04Where did that come from?

0:07:04 > 0:07:06Later on, Katherine will also be going undercover

0:07:06 > 0:07:08as a supply teacher.

0:07:08 > 0:07:13She'll make this class' jaws drop to the floor. Is it your class?

0:07:13 > 0:07:14Wow, look at that!

0:07:14 > 0:07:17Of course, Katherine's not a real teacher,

0:07:17 > 0:07:20nor is the extraordinarily smooth magician, James.

0:07:20 > 0:07:22He's going to teach you the secret behind a trick

0:07:22 > 0:07:25you can use on your mates to blow their minds.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32If you fancy yourself as a magician,

0:07:32 > 0:07:34here's a trick you can try on your mates.

0:07:34 > 0:07:36You'll need a pencil and six cards.

0:07:36 > 0:07:40If you haven't got them already, go and get them now. Go on!

0:07:40 > 0:07:43Quick, hurry! In the meantime, James will wait for you here.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45Are you back? Ready? Good.

0:07:45 > 0:07:49Do you know how to lift the six cards using the pencil?

0:07:49 > 0:07:50Can you work it out?

0:07:50 > 0:07:54Keep watching and you'll find out later in the show.

0:07:54 > 0:07:58Right now, though, sneaky Katherine's in a theme park

0:07:58 > 0:08:01to do a trick you'll never be able to work out.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04I'm going to show you something quite cool

0:08:04 > 0:08:05with these two elastic bands.

0:08:05 > 0:08:07This is Mia, Isabel,

0:08:07 > 0:08:09Emily and Lewis.

0:08:09 > 0:08:12They have no idea they're about to star in their own magic show.

0:08:12 > 0:08:14Watch carefully.

0:08:14 > 0:08:17If you guys could just check them - do they look normal to you?

0:08:17 > 0:08:18BOTH: Yes.

0:08:18 > 0:08:22They do? OK, I'll have them back. Do you want to have a check?

0:08:22 > 0:08:25OK, so you've checked that both of these elastic bands

0:08:25 > 0:08:26are perfectly normal

0:08:26 > 0:08:29and you're happy with that, yes? ALL: Yes.

0:08:29 > 0:08:33I'd like you, Emily, to grab hold of the two middle strands for me

0:08:33 > 0:08:36and pinch them in-between your fingers, right in the centre,

0:08:36 > 0:08:38and rub, rub your fingers together.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40That's perfect. Really, really rub.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42And let go. And look at that. Can you see that?

0:08:42 > 0:08:46Amazingly, you've linked the two rubber bands together.

0:08:46 > 0:08:49Whoa! Emily's linked the rubber bands! How did that happen?

0:08:49 > 0:08:51Let's have a rewind.

0:08:51 > 0:08:53Rub your fingers together. That's perfect.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56Really, really rub. And let go. And look at that.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59Amazingly, you've linked the two rubber bands together.

0:08:59 > 0:09:01- Can you see that?- Cool.

0:09:01 > 0:09:03That is so amazing.

0:09:03 > 0:09:06In fact, Lewis, can you grab a hold of this side for me?

0:09:06 > 0:09:10That's perfect. Start rubbing them together, exactly the same way,

0:09:10 > 0:09:14really, really rub them together. Can you feel anything happening?

0:09:14 > 0:09:17- No.- Can you see that? You've unlinked them.

0:09:17 > 0:09:20Now Lewis has unlinked them! It gets better!

0:09:20 > 0:09:22I'm going to show you what this looks like

0:09:22 > 0:09:25without you covering the bands with your fingers.

0:09:25 > 0:09:27So if I do it slowly like this and just tap...

0:09:27 > 0:09:30one...two...

0:09:30 > 0:09:31three.

0:09:31 > 0:09:35You can see the band is completely linked together.

0:09:35 > 0:09:39- What?- How did she do that? Can I get another rewind?

0:09:39 > 0:09:43One...two...three.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46You can see the band is completely linked together.

0:09:46 > 0:09:48- What?- And there you go, Emily.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51- You can keep that as a souvenir. - That's impossible!

0:09:51 > 0:09:54Really cool. It looked like it was going to be impossible,

0:09:54 > 0:09:58but then when she just did that, it was just really amazing.

0:09:59 > 0:10:02Right now, we have something amazing for you.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05This is the interactive illusion.

0:10:05 > 0:10:09This is a trick where you can take part at home.

0:10:09 > 0:10:14So move in a bit closer... Watch the cat, remember last time?

0:10:14 > 0:10:17All right, now follow along with Fergus.

0:10:17 > 0:10:23His style is playful, his hands are skilful and his hair is awful.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26But ignore that, just listen in and get involved.

0:10:26 > 0:10:31We're going to do something amazing with these colours.

0:10:32 > 0:10:34Start by placing your finger

0:10:34 > 0:10:37on any of the colours in the left hand column.

0:10:39 > 0:10:42Now spell out the colour you have chosen,

0:10:42 > 0:10:44moving one space for each letter.

0:10:44 > 0:10:49You can move up, down, left or right, but not diagonally.

0:10:50 > 0:10:55For example, if you'd chosen black you'd move your finger five spaces.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58B...L...

0:10:58 > 0:11:00A...C...

0:11:00 > 0:11:01K.

0:11:01 > 0:11:03So spell your colour now.

0:11:09 > 0:11:12I don't think you're on white, so we'll remove that.

0:11:14 > 0:11:17Now move your finger five spaces.

0:11:17 > 0:11:21You can only move to a colour, not to an empty space.

0:11:21 > 0:11:26Just like before, though, you can move up, down, left or right.

0:11:26 > 0:11:30Remember, move five spaces now.

0:11:30 > 0:11:32That's great. OK.

0:11:34 > 0:11:38So you're not on yellow or blue. We'll get rid of those.

0:11:40 > 0:11:43Now move three spaces.

0:11:43 > 0:11:46Again, up or down, left or right.

0:11:49 > 0:11:54Hmm, you're not on black or brown, so we'll remove them.

0:11:55 > 0:11:59I'd like you to move five more spaces.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06OK, you're not on purple, are you?

0:12:06 > 0:12:08We can get rid of that one.

0:12:08 > 0:12:10Finally move one space.

0:12:14 > 0:12:15All done?

0:12:15 > 0:12:19So you started on a colour and you moved to a random location,

0:12:19 > 0:12:23but I know you're on the colour orange.

0:12:24 > 0:12:26I'm on orange! Did it work for you?

0:12:27 > 0:12:31Have you ever said, "How did he do that?"

0:12:31 > 0:12:32Yes, I have.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35Every week, we are bringing you a chart

0:12:35 > 0:12:37of the magic movers and shakers.

0:12:37 > 0:12:41We are calling said chart Wannabe Wizards.

0:12:41 > 0:12:42I've got my comfy chair.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46I've got my trusty laptop.

0:12:46 > 0:12:49And I've got a massive ball of cheesy puffs.

0:12:49 > 0:12:50Let's do this.

0:12:50 > 0:12:53We asked you to send in clips of yourself

0:12:53 > 0:12:55performing your best magic tricks.

0:12:55 > 0:12:59We received loads of clips from all over the country.

0:12:59 > 0:13:02Each week, I will be choosing my five favourite wannabe wizards

0:13:02 > 0:13:04and showing them to you guys.

0:13:04 > 0:13:07Number five this time is my man Harry from Billericay

0:13:07 > 0:13:09with some crazy card skills.

0:13:09 > 0:13:12See what I mean? A deck and nice effects.

0:13:14 > 0:13:17It gets better, though! Keep your eye on the ace of spades,

0:13:17 > 0:13:21and not on his bare feet. Oh, glad it's not smellovision.

0:13:21 > 0:13:24Boom, it's the ten of hearts! But where did the ace go?

0:13:24 > 0:13:26That's it in the middle. Awesome.

0:13:26 > 0:13:30It's back in the middle and the ten of hearts is still on top.

0:13:30 > 0:13:34Quick magic click and now the ace is on top, and guess what?

0:13:34 > 0:13:36Yeah, the ten's in the middle.

0:13:36 > 0:13:40Harry, you're showing off. Here's something completely different.

0:13:40 > 0:13:43It's Sammy from Stanmore. He might be in his back garden

0:13:43 > 0:13:46but he's so street with that hat and sick yo-yo moves.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49Yeah, I know, strictly speaking, it's not magic

0:13:49 > 0:13:52and he's not got the patter, but he lets his quick hands

0:13:52 > 0:13:54and his yo-yo do the talking.

0:13:56 > 0:14:00All I could ever do with a yo-yo was walk the dog, so I am impressed.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02Watch this with the string.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05If that was me, I'd get it knotted right up.

0:14:08 > 0:14:12Nice catch. He hasn't caught number three. It's Evan from Harrow.

0:14:12 > 0:14:15He's going to have you in total suspense.

0:14:17 > 0:14:19He's picked up some rubbish - it's an old receipt.

0:14:19 > 0:14:23The trick coming up is so good you won't want a refund.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25He's scrunching it back up,

0:14:25 > 0:14:28but he's not going to put it in that wheelie bin behind him,

0:14:28 > 0:14:34oh, no. This scrap of paper is about to be recycled into a magic trick.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37Get ready, here comes the good bit.

0:14:37 > 0:14:39He's putting his spell on it.

0:14:39 > 0:14:42Whoa, it's floating in mid-air!

0:14:42 > 0:14:45Do you think you know how he does it?

0:14:45 > 0:14:48Think again. Watch this. I love this bit. Here we go.

0:14:50 > 0:14:52And once more for luck.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55This is a kind of floater I don't mind seeing.

0:14:56 > 0:14:59Just ahead on points it's Callum from Ibsley.

0:14:59 > 0:15:01He's got a pen trick that draws me right in.

0:15:01 > 0:15:05OK, watch the point of the pen. Just watch it, watch the point.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08Watch the point of the pen, because if I turn it like this,

0:15:08 > 0:15:11- it's pointless. - Wow, the pen has swapped ends.

0:15:11 > 0:15:14You've got to follow that. It's underneath the cap.

0:15:14 > 0:15:15- Where is it?- It's still there.

0:15:15 > 0:15:18Wrong, it's not on this side, it's over here.

0:15:18 > 0:15:20- Cool. Even he finds it funny. - It's on this side?- Yep.

0:15:20 > 0:15:23- You'll want to pay attention. Where is it? This side?- Yep.

0:15:23 > 0:15:26- What? You said this side. - No, the other side.

0:15:26 > 0:15:29What do you mean, it's on this side? You've got to make your mind up,

0:15:29 > 0:15:31- I'm trying to help you. - Sorry, I'm trying!

0:15:31 > 0:15:34You've got to watch it - it's going under the cap,

0:15:34 > 0:15:37under the cap, watch, watch, watch. It's under the cap.

0:15:37 > 0:15:38It's not under the cap.

0:15:38 > 0:15:41Whoa, this pen trick is really leaving its mark.

0:15:41 > 0:15:42But it's not the end,

0:15:42 > 0:15:45he's going to cap it all with one last switcheroo.

0:15:45 > 0:15:48I'm just going to give it a shake...

0:15:48 > 0:15:51- and it jumps to the bottom. - Top trick.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54Who's my favourite, though? I'm not going to tell you yet,

0:15:54 > 0:15:57not before I put on my funny chart show voice.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00At five, it's Harry the barefoot conjuror.

0:16:00 > 0:16:05Spinning higher up the chart at four, it's Sammy.

0:16:05 > 0:16:10Floating even higher still, it's Evan.

0:16:10 > 0:16:14And the menace with the pen is at number two, it's Callum.

0:16:14 > 0:16:16Unless you know where to look, right?

0:16:16 > 0:16:20Out of the tons of wannabe wizards, my top one this time was...

0:16:20 > 0:16:25Benjy from London with a card trick that's so ace, it's four aces.

0:16:25 > 0:16:27I'm going to get the first joker,

0:16:27 > 0:16:31put it on the bottom of the pile with the other three jokers

0:16:31 > 0:16:35and then all I have to do is just shake and I get an ace.

0:16:35 > 0:16:39Whoa, he made that into an ace right in front of our eyes!

0:16:39 > 0:16:42- But how? What a joker. - The other three jokers...

0:16:42 > 0:16:45He's changed one joker to an ace, but he's not stopping there,

0:16:45 > 0:16:50- he's about to do another three. - Just like that. Flick. I get...

0:16:50 > 0:16:53Whoa, the second joker changed to the ace of spades

0:16:53 > 0:16:56- with a mere flick of his fingers! - So I get this joker...

0:16:56 > 0:16:59- OK, now time for the last two. - And just with a shake...

0:16:59 > 0:17:05Whoa, you see that? The third joker became an ace with a nifty shake.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08And the final joker - there's a twist. Literally.

0:17:08 > 0:17:12I get the ace of hearts.

0:17:12 > 0:17:15It's the ace of hearts and I heart that trick.

0:17:15 > 0:17:20Can't wait until next time for more Wannabe Wizards.

0:17:20 > 0:17:23It's time now, though, for a bit of classy magic from me.

0:17:23 > 0:17:27Yes, the moment you've all been waiting for - thimble magic.

0:17:27 > 0:17:30MOBILE RINGS

0:17:32 > 0:17:34Hello, Mum? look. I'm in the middle of a trick.

0:17:36 > 0:17:40Have I seen your red thimble? No.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44You're darning my socks?

0:17:45 > 0:17:47Sorry, gang, here's what's coming up.

0:17:47 > 0:17:50Have you worked out the secret to James' challenge?

0:17:50 > 0:17:53If you haven't got a pencil and playing cards, go and get them now.

0:17:53 > 0:17:57Go on, hurry! And watch what happens when Katherine

0:17:57 > 0:18:00goes undercover in another school.

0:18:00 > 0:18:04Could it be your class? Could your supply teacher be magic?

0:18:05 > 0:18:09In Undercover Magic, we hide cameras in all sorts of places.

0:18:09 > 0:18:12Our magicians play tricks on members of the public

0:18:12 > 0:18:15who don't know they're being filmed.

0:18:15 > 0:18:18Fergus is on this park bench to play a trick on Ludo and Esme.

0:18:18 > 0:18:21They're sitting on the park bench opposite Fergus

0:18:21 > 0:18:23and they've been set up by their mum.

0:18:23 > 0:18:26They have no idea what's about to happen.

0:18:26 > 0:18:29Guys, excuse me, sorry, what do you make the time?

0:18:29 > 0:18:31It's just after quarter to one.

0:18:31 > 0:18:34I've been waiting for a friend for about 25 minutes

0:18:34 > 0:18:36and I made a packed lunch and everything,

0:18:36 > 0:18:39gone to all this effort, and then he doesn't turn up.

0:18:39 > 0:18:43I think I'll just start without him, to be honest.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46Fergus has told them a story and got their attention

0:18:46 > 0:18:48and now he's about to have a picnic on his own,

0:18:48 > 0:18:50but it's a picnic like no other.

0:18:50 > 0:18:52Keep your eyes on the lunch box,

0:18:52 > 0:18:56can't be room in there for many sandwiches.

0:18:57 > 0:19:00A cup of tea? Now, I wouldn't have expected that.

0:19:00 > 0:19:03Excuse me, you haven't got any milk, have you?

0:19:03 > 0:19:06- Hang on a minute.- No?- No, sorry.

0:19:06 > 0:19:09My mistake, sorry. I did pack some.

0:19:11 > 0:19:13I'm just so forgetful at the moment.

0:19:13 > 0:19:15He's got them amused.

0:19:15 > 0:19:18He's really grabbed their attention with that tumbler,

0:19:18 > 0:19:20but they haven't tumbled his trick.

0:19:20 > 0:19:24A proper teddy bear's picnic but it's not over yet.

0:19:24 > 0:19:28This lunch box is like the TARDIS!

0:19:33 > 0:19:35I think I forgot a few things.

0:19:37 > 0:19:41He's got a full-on cream tea in there - jam, scones, the works.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47Nice touch, Fergus.

0:19:47 > 0:19:50Do you guys want any, or you all right?

0:19:51 > 0:19:54Ludo can't quite believe it, but it's about to step up a gear.

0:19:56 > 0:19:58How does he fit a big jug of OJ in there?!

0:20:01 > 0:20:03Exactly, mate, how?

0:20:03 > 0:20:06Surely that's all, folks? No, there's a flask.

0:20:07 > 0:20:09Missing something.

0:20:12 > 0:20:13And a vase.

0:20:16 > 0:20:21And a huge flower to top it all off. They can't believe it!

0:20:21 > 0:20:22Perfect.

0:20:22 > 0:20:24First he was just taking out tea cups.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27I was like, "You could actually fit cups in there."

0:20:27 > 0:20:31But then he took out the orange juice and the vase.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34I was like, "What? This is just weird. How does he do that?"

0:20:34 > 0:20:36How indeed?

0:20:36 > 0:20:39It's the moment you've been waiting for -

0:20:39 > 0:20:41a chance for you to learn how to fool your friends.

0:20:43 > 0:20:47Me and James challenged you to lift six cards using a pencil.

0:20:47 > 0:20:50Come on, have you worked it out? How many of you got it?

0:20:50 > 0:20:54Maybe you think it works by poking the pencil through the cards.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57Nah. Do you use a magnet?

0:20:57 > 0:20:58No way.

0:20:58 > 0:21:00How about some glue?

0:21:00 > 0:21:02Come on!

0:21:02 > 0:21:05You rest one card on each side of the pencil,

0:21:05 > 0:21:08leaving a small gap between them,

0:21:08 > 0:21:11and one on top of those cards crossways.

0:21:11 > 0:21:14And then the same again on the other side.

0:21:17 > 0:21:19Then you put the other cards on top again.

0:21:19 > 0:21:22Lift it up. Gently does it.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24Did you get it?

0:21:24 > 0:21:26Are you amazing already?

0:21:26 > 0:21:29Now you've got something to show off with when it's play time.

0:21:29 > 0:21:36Now it's time for Katherine to fool another unsuspecting class.

0:21:36 > 0:21:38She's about to go to another school.

0:21:38 > 0:21:42She's going undercover as a supply teacher to do an incredible trick.

0:21:42 > 0:21:46Will it be your school? Will it be your class?

0:21:46 > 0:21:48Let's find out.

0:21:48 > 0:21:52These Year Six pupils think they're coming in for a normal lesson,

0:21:52 > 0:21:56but they're wrong. Katherine is far from normal.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58The classroom's been planted with hidden cameras

0:21:58 > 0:22:02and she's got a trick that will really grow on them very quickly.

0:22:02 > 0:22:06Today what we're going to be learning about is sustainability.

0:22:06 > 0:22:08The food that we eat every day

0:22:08 > 0:22:10and the paper you write on at school

0:22:10 > 0:22:13all needs to be replaced, and that is sustainability.

0:22:13 > 0:22:17That's when we replace the resources we have so we don't run out.

0:22:17 > 0:22:21That's true enough, but she's about to lead them up the garden path.

0:22:21 > 0:22:24When I was planning this lesson, I had a look online

0:22:24 > 0:22:27and what I found was a very interesting article.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30And it was describing something called speed grow powder.

0:22:30 > 0:22:35There's no such thing as speed grow powder, it's just part of the trick.

0:22:35 > 0:22:38I sent an e-mail and they very kindly sent me over a sample of it,

0:22:38 > 0:22:40which I've got here.

0:22:40 > 0:22:43These girls haven't seen anything like it.

0:22:43 > 0:22:47Now, yesterday, I tried this out at home with a sunflower seed

0:22:47 > 0:22:49and I put the sunflower seed

0:22:49 > 0:22:51into my airing cupboard with the powder on top

0:22:51 > 0:22:53and I left it for only a few moments,

0:22:53 > 0:22:56and when I opened up the cupboard door again

0:22:56 > 0:22:59I could actually see a fully grown, tall sunflower.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02A tall story more like, but they don't suspect a thing.

0:23:02 > 0:23:05Obviously, I couldn't bring in my airing cupboard

0:23:05 > 0:23:08so I had to find a cupboard in your storage room,

0:23:08 > 0:23:10which will do fine and block out all the light.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13So I'll just pop the seed in the soil,

0:23:13 > 0:23:17and sprinkle some of the speed grow powder on top.

0:23:17 > 0:23:20And if we open up the front of the cupboard

0:23:20 > 0:23:23and place the pot inside,

0:23:23 > 0:23:28we should only really need to leave it for a few moments...

0:23:28 > 0:23:32before we see some sort of result.

0:23:32 > 0:23:35So let's close the door.

0:23:35 > 0:23:38Now, it's very important that no light gets in there

0:23:38 > 0:23:41because otherwise the powder won't work. But as I said,

0:23:41 > 0:23:43it works really, really quickly,

0:23:43 > 0:23:47so I imagine we've probably waited enough time already.

0:23:47 > 0:23:50Let's have a look and see what the results are.

0:23:50 > 0:23:52I'll just take off the door.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55I can't wait for this - the class are about to be blown away.

0:23:55 > 0:23:59Look inside. Wow, look at that! CLASS GASPS

0:23:59 > 0:24:03Whoa, the seed has grown into a plant in no time at all!

0:24:03 > 0:24:05I can't "beleaf" it!

0:24:05 > 0:24:06That's grown about...

0:24:06 > 0:24:11what would take generally about four weeks in about ten seconds.

0:24:11 > 0:24:13OK, so let's put it back in again.

0:24:13 > 0:24:16It's already an incredible trick but will it plant the seed of doubt

0:24:16 > 0:24:19into the class' head about her magical identity?

0:24:19 > 0:24:21See how much it grows again.

0:24:23 > 0:24:24Seal up the front of the door.

0:24:24 > 0:24:28Now, has anyone ever heard of fertiliser before?

0:24:28 > 0:24:30You have. And who knows what it does? Yes.

0:24:33 > 0:24:35It does, yeah, yes.

0:24:35 > 0:24:38Remember, don't play with fertiliser at home.

0:24:40 > 0:24:42It's supposed to help stuff grow, exactly.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45And this is exactly what the powder does,

0:24:45 > 0:24:48but it does it much more effectively and much faster.

0:24:48 > 0:24:52So let's have a look and see if it's worked again.

0:24:52 > 0:24:56Open up the front of the door and if we have a look...

0:24:56 > 0:24:58ALL: Wow!

0:24:58 > 0:25:00Big plant, big reaction!

0:25:00 > 0:25:04"Tree" cheers for Katherine, or some other bad plant-related pun.

0:25:04 > 0:25:06And what I also brought with me today -

0:25:06 > 0:25:09I had a packet of vegetable seeds at home

0:25:09 > 0:25:12and I grabbed one randomly this morning.

0:25:12 > 0:25:14Now, I'm not sure what vegetable it is,

0:25:14 > 0:25:18but I thought we could have an attempt at growing it

0:25:18 > 0:25:22with this speed grow powder. So if I just pop the seed in there.

0:25:22 > 0:25:24She's going to do vegetables now.

0:25:24 > 0:25:27That's a "turnip" for the books. They get worse.

0:25:27 > 0:25:30And inside like that.

0:25:30 > 0:25:35We should find that hopefully it grows quickly.

0:25:37 > 0:25:41Does anyone want to guess what vegetable they might think...?

0:25:41 > 0:25:44Maybe an aubergine, maybe a cantaloupe.

0:25:44 > 0:25:46You think it might be a potato? And yes.

0:25:46 > 0:25:48- A yam?- Tomato?

0:25:48 > 0:25:50OK, and what do you think it might be?

0:25:50 > 0:25:54A prickly pear, perhaps?

0:25:54 > 0:25:56A strawberry? You think it might be a fruit?

0:25:56 > 0:26:00OK, well, I think that's long enough. Let's have a look and see...

0:26:00 > 0:26:03what vegetable we've got. Let's have a look.

0:26:05 > 0:26:07Oh, look at that! CLASS GASPS

0:26:07 > 0:26:11Whoa! This seed became a carrot in seconds. Amazing stuff.

0:26:11 > 0:26:13We've grown a carrot.

0:26:13 > 0:26:15It's time for our magic supply teacher

0:26:15 > 0:26:17to let them all in on the trick.

0:26:17 > 0:26:19Do you want to know a secret?

0:26:19 > 0:26:20ALL: Yes.

0:26:20 > 0:26:23The secret is, I'm not a real teacher.

0:26:23 > 0:26:25ALL GASP

0:26:25 > 0:26:28And that was actually a magic trick.

0:26:28 > 0:26:31And if you look over there in that corner, that's a camera,

0:26:31 > 0:26:34that's a camera, and over there, that's a camera.

0:26:34 > 0:26:37Because you're all being filmed right now for a new CBBC magic show.

0:26:37 > 0:26:40ALL SCREAM EXCITEDLY

0:26:42 > 0:26:44ALL CHATTER EXCITEDLY

0:26:47 > 0:26:51She did it. Katherine's brilliant quick-growing trick

0:26:51 > 0:26:54has totally fooled the class.

0:26:54 > 0:26:58First she turned a seed into a plant in seconds.

0:26:58 > 0:27:00And, wow, look at that. ALL: Oh!

0:27:00 > 0:27:05We just saw a leaf. And it just came out of nowhere.

0:27:05 > 0:27:07Then she made it grow into a flower.

0:27:07 > 0:27:09ALL: Whoa.

0:27:09 > 0:27:12After 20 seconds, it actually worked, and I was like,

0:27:12 > 0:27:14"What? How is that happening?"

0:27:14 > 0:27:18And then she turned a seed into a carrot in no time at all.

0:27:18 > 0:27:20We've grown a carrot.

0:27:20 > 0:27:24I don't know what I thought - I was just completely wordless,

0:27:24 > 0:27:26and it was really amazing.

0:27:26 > 0:27:28Katherine pulled it off.

0:27:28 > 0:27:32The class had no idea she was a magician.

0:27:32 > 0:27:35We totally got them and they loved it.

0:27:40 > 0:27:43See you guys next week, but remember,

0:27:43 > 0:27:46if your teacher suddenly starts working wonders,

0:27:46 > 0:27:51you may need to shout, "Help! My supply teacher is magic!"

0:28:04 > 0:28:07Subtitles by Red Bee Media Ltd
