0:00:02 > 0:00:06CBBC have sent these four magicians into your schools.

0:00:06 > 0:00:10They are some of the hottest magicians in the country.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Our magicians went undercover

0:00:12 > 0:00:17and they pretended to be supply teachers.

0:00:17 > 0:00:22We had secret cameras all over your classrooms and watched

0:00:22 > 0:00:25while you had the most incredible lessons.

0:00:25 > 0:00:29Our magicians fooled whole classes and shocked them

0:00:29 > 0:00:33with their spectacular tricks. But did they come to your school?

0:00:33 > 0:00:35I never knew we'd be on TV.

0:00:35 > 0:00:36Did they trick you?

0:00:36 > 0:00:37I'm just so freaked out!

0:00:37 > 0:00:39And did you shout...?

0:00:43 > 0:00:47Hello. It's me, Ian, and this is Help!

0:00:47 > 0:00:50My Supply Teacher Is Magic.

0:00:50 > 0:00:55We've fooled hundreds of you guys by swapping regular teachers

0:00:55 > 0:00:59with magicians, and we've been secretly filming the results

0:00:59 > 0:01:03with special cameras which we've hidden in the classroom.

0:01:03 > 0:01:08Oh, yes, we've got more dodges than a Jammie Dodger on the dodgem cars.

0:01:08 > 0:01:12We're also showing you loads of other great tricks,

0:01:12 > 0:01:16like this one. I call it the Spooky Haunted Hankie.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18Watch closely, here we go.

0:01:19 > 0:01:24Oh! Ho-hoh.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Show some clips.

0:01:28 > 0:01:33John is going undercover to cause mayhem in this class of year fives.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37Look, he made a solid box pass through solid metal!

0:01:37 > 0:01:40- Oh!- Will he make the Earth move?

0:01:40 > 0:01:42The block is still solid.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45We'll teach you a magic trick so you can fool your friends.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48Grab two £1 coins, a 1p and a glass.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52You'll also need to be near a table with a tablecloth on it

0:01:52 > 0:01:53so you can join in.

0:01:53 > 0:01:57Plus, you've been sending in clips of all your best magic tricks,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00and later on I'll be picking my five favourites.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03Will you be one of my wannabe wizards?

0:02:03 > 0:02:09Could you spot a magician pretending to be a supply teacher?

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Could you? Really?

0:02:11 > 0:02:16This is John. He's a big character with a load of big tricks.

0:02:16 > 0:02:21He's about to go undercover as a supply teacher.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24The hidden cameras are set. Is it your school?

0:02:24 > 0:02:27Is it your class? Let's find out.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Here's a year five class.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33They don't know it yet, but John's about to give them a lesson

0:02:33 > 0:02:35that defies the law of physics.

0:02:35 > 0:02:36But what will the class make

0:02:36 > 0:02:39of their scientifically impossible lesson?

0:02:39 > 0:02:42None of the class suspect there are cameras in their classroom

0:02:42 > 0:02:45or realise John is not a real teacher, but can he keep it up?

0:02:45 > 0:02:50I'm going to teach you a science lesson. Now who likes science?

0:02:50 > 0:02:52Excellent. When I was at school,

0:02:52 > 0:02:53which was a long, long, long,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56long time ago, before cars had been invented,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59my favourite science was physics.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01What do you think physics was about? Yes?

0:03:05 > 0:03:09That's spot on! It was about movement and it was about energy

0:03:09 > 0:03:11and it was about forces, and I loved it.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13John's already making it sound fun,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16but he's about to get experimental with the truth.

0:03:16 > 0:03:20They reckon that most physical laws can't be broken,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23and I've just discovered recently that it is possible

0:03:23 > 0:03:26to break one of the physical laws. You see,

0:03:26 > 0:03:29in physics we were taught it was impossible for a solid

0:03:29 > 0:03:31to go through another solid.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Yeah, that's because it is. What's he up to?

0:03:34 > 0:03:37- Is it possible for me to walk through that wall?- No.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40- Can I go through that door? - Yes.- Yes, cos it's open.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42- But if I shut the door?- No.

0:03:42 > 0:03:46Is it possible for a solid thing to go through a solid thing?

0:03:46 > 0:03:49I've got some metal sheets here, you can have a look at that one

0:03:49 > 0:03:53- and that one. Just sheets of metal. Is that solid?- Yes.- It is solid.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55We can whack it on the table.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58I probably won't get a job at this school,

0:03:58 > 0:04:01but I might get the job somewhere else, so it doesn't matter.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03The class are loving John's lessons so far,

0:04:03 > 0:04:06but there's some solid magic coming up.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09I also have a solid block here.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12Do you think it's possible for this to go through

0:04:12 > 0:04:13that piece of metal?

0:04:13 > 0:04:14No.

0:04:14 > 0:04:19He sounds very certain, but he's about to have his mind blown.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21No. Do you know what I've discovered?

0:04:21 > 0:04:24It's possible to pass a solid through a solid

0:04:24 > 0:04:27IF you do some simple things.

0:04:27 > 0:04:31You have to vibrate the piece of metal at the right frequency.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33If it's fast enough,

0:04:33 > 0:04:36what happens is it starts to get soft in the middle.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38Can you see that?

0:04:38 > 0:04:41- Yeah.- If I vibrate that at the right speed, the molecules, they get

0:04:41 > 0:04:44further apart and there's more space between them until

0:04:44 > 0:04:46eventually this becomes like a liquid

0:04:46 > 0:04:48and the metal can pass through it.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51John's facts are as wobbly as a piece of metal,

0:04:51 > 0:04:53but the class believe every word.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55I've got a little tube here that this block

0:04:55 > 0:04:57will go all the way through.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59To make sure the block can't go through,

0:04:59 > 0:05:03I'm going to put these pieces of metal that you looked at

0:05:03 > 0:05:04into the tube like that.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06They can't wait to see this.

0:05:06 > 0:05:11One there and one there. Now my job, using vibration,

0:05:11 > 0:05:14is to get that block to go all the way through

0:05:14 > 0:05:17- those two metal sheets. Do you think I can do it?- Yes.

0:05:17 > 0:05:18He's changed his tune.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21They really want this to work, but how can it?

0:05:21 > 0:05:23It's physically impossible.

0:05:23 > 0:05:25Physics would say it's impossible.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28Look, I'm going to put the block in the top here,

0:05:28 > 0:05:31and then I'm going to vibrate this top plate.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34As I vibrate it, I have to get the frequency just right.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36I build up the speed. It gets faster and faster and faster

0:05:36 > 0:05:38until eventually, that block...

0:05:38 > 0:05:42Whoa! The block's passing through the solid metal!

0:05:42 > 0:05:43How can that happen?

0:05:43 > 0:05:45I know. I know. No, no, no, no, no!

0:05:45 > 0:05:49The class already love it, but John's not through yet.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51It's only through one sheet,

0:05:51 > 0:05:54we've got to get it go through the second sheet. Here we go.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57I'm watching even closer this time. I'm going to work it out.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59Faster, faster, faster, faster! Oh!

0:05:59 > 0:06:01I can't work it out,

0:06:01 > 0:06:04nor can the class. Let's get a rewind.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07Here we go. Just...

0:06:07 > 0:06:11Right speed, right, so faster, faster, faster, faster. Oh!

0:06:11 > 0:06:14Nah, I still can't figure it out. It's incredible!

0:06:14 > 0:06:18The block is still solid.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20They've just witnessed the impossible happen

0:06:20 > 0:06:23right in front of their eyes.

0:06:23 > 0:06:27Time for our phoney physics teacher to let them in on his secret.

0:06:27 > 0:06:30Your teachers and your headteacher

0:06:30 > 0:06:33and your mums and dads have set you up.

0:06:33 > 0:06:37I know. Cos I'm not really a teacher, I'm a magician,

0:06:37 > 0:06:41and we're filming a secret magic show for CBBC

0:06:41 > 0:06:44called, Help! My Supply Teacher Is Magic.

0:06:44 > 0:06:45And we've got hidden cameras over here.

0:06:45 > 0:06:51We've got a camera at the back there. we've got a camera over here.

0:06:51 > 0:06:53He did it!

0:06:53 > 0:06:58John's brilliant box trick has totally bamboozled the class.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00I thought we were just going to be taught science.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03I never knew we were going to be on TV.

0:07:03 > 0:07:05First, he proved the metal was solid.

0:07:05 > 0:07:08It is solid, we can whack it on the table.

0:07:08 > 0:07:09That's right.

0:07:09 > 0:07:13I thought it was never going to work because it's metal.

0:07:13 > 0:07:17Then he passed a solid cube through the solid metal!

0:07:17 > 0:07:20All the way through. I know. No, no, no, no, no!

0:07:20 > 0:07:25The metal went through the metal. I can't believe that.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28Just to prove it was no fluke, he did it all over again.

0:07:28 > 0:07:31Oh! Incredible.

0:07:31 > 0:07:35I was actually kind of amazed because I never knew that

0:07:35 > 0:07:38someone could actually do that and... Oh, my gosh!

0:07:38 > 0:07:43John pulled it off, the class had no idea he was a magician.

0:07:43 > 0:07:47Would you realise your supply teacher was magic?

0:07:52 > 0:07:56Later on, Fergus will be going undercover as a supply teacher.

0:07:56 > 0:08:00He'll make this class's jaws drop to the floor.

0:08:00 > 0:08:02Is this your class?

0:08:02 > 0:08:03This is Katherine.

0:08:03 > 0:08:06She's going to teach you the secret behind a trick you can

0:08:06 > 0:08:09use on your mates to blow their minds.

0:08:13 > 0:08:17If you fancy yourself as a magician, here's a trick you can try at home.

0:08:17 > 0:08:22You'll need two £1 coins, a penny and a glass.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25If you haven't got them already, get them now.

0:08:25 > 0:08:29You'll also need to be at a table with a tablecloth.

0:08:29 > 0:08:32You need to place the coins in a row like this

0:08:32 > 0:08:35and place the glass on top of the coins like this.

0:08:35 > 0:08:38Do you know how to get the penny out without touching the glass

0:08:38 > 0:08:40or the coins? Can you work it out?

0:08:40 > 0:08:43Keep watching and you'll find out later in the show.

0:08:46 > 0:08:49But right now we have something amazing for you.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52This is an interactive illusion.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55This is a trick you can take part in at home, so come on,

0:08:55 > 0:08:58get close to the screen so you can follow all of the action...

0:08:58 > 0:09:02You smell awful! Here's John.

0:09:02 > 0:09:06This is John. He's got a big appetite...

0:09:06 > 0:09:10for magic, and he's a clever sausage, as you'll soon see.

0:09:14 > 0:09:17In this next trick, I'm going to teach you how to produce a sausage.

0:09:17 > 0:09:21I know that sounds strange, but follow along and it'll make sense.

0:09:21 > 0:09:23Hold your arms out like this in front of you.

0:09:23 > 0:09:28Now point your fingers out and turn them inwards just like this.

0:09:28 > 0:09:31Perfect. Now just look over the tips of your fingers,

0:09:31 > 0:09:33focusing in the distance at me.

0:09:33 > 0:09:37Can you see a sausage floating between your fingertips?

0:09:37 > 0:09:39You can? That's great.

0:09:39 > 0:09:43Now, on the count of three, I want you to flick the sausage at the TV.

0:09:43 > 0:09:47You ready? One, two, three.

0:09:47 > 0:09:50CRASHING

0:09:52 > 0:09:54Wow, I love how you got that to work.

0:09:54 > 0:09:57I think I'll have a barbeque!

0:09:57 > 0:10:04Last time I saw sausages like that, they were part of Lady Gaga's dress.

0:10:04 > 0:10:07Every week, we're bringing you a chart of the magic movers

0:10:07 > 0:10:10and shakers we're calling the chart Wannabe Wizards.

0:10:10 > 0:10:12I've got my comfy chair.

0:10:14 > 0:10:17I've got my trusty laptop,

0:10:17 > 0:10:18and I've got my breadsticks,

0:10:18 > 0:10:22cos sometimes snacks can have too much flavour. Hit it.

0:10:24 > 0:10:26We asked you to send in clips of yourself performing

0:10:26 > 0:10:29your best magic tricks.

0:10:29 > 0:10:32We received loads of clips from all over the country.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35Each week I will be choosing my five favourite wannabe wizards

0:10:35 > 0:10:37and showing them to you guys.

0:10:37 > 0:10:40Number five this time is Fred from London.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43Fred's a card flourisher.

0:10:43 > 0:10:46Watch his careful hands and fast fingers.

0:10:46 > 0:10:49If I was doing that I'd have dropped the cards all over the place.

0:10:49 > 0:10:55To be honest, it's making me a bit dizzy, but I like it.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58Look, he can even flip cards into the air and catch them in the deck.

0:10:58 > 0:11:02And again. He's working those angles.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07Nice double fan, and I'm a big fan.

0:11:07 > 0:11:12I'm also a fan of Gemma from Bridgnorth.

0:11:14 > 0:11:17She's shuffled the deck...

0:11:17 > 0:11:20Check it out, it's the two of hearts.

0:11:20 > 0:11:22She hands it to the camera person,

0:11:22 > 0:11:24multi-tasking as magician's assistant.

0:11:24 > 0:11:27Back it goes into the deck.

0:11:28 > 0:11:30Here's the good bit.

0:11:30 > 0:11:33Pow! The two of hearts flies out of the deck.

0:11:33 > 0:11:35That's not all she can do.

0:11:37 > 0:11:42The seven of clubs is on top of the deck, or at least it is now.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45A quick rub and, wow, it's changed to the jack of hearts!

0:11:45 > 0:11:48Let's get a rewind.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51How does she do it?

0:11:51 > 0:11:55I still don't know but it's great.

0:11:55 > 0:11:56A trick close to my heart

0:11:56 > 0:12:00but slightly edged out by Timothy from Staffordshire.

0:12:00 > 0:12:03I'm not sure why I like this trick better, it escapes me,

0:12:03 > 0:12:05cos he's an escapologist. Do you get it?

0:12:05 > 0:12:08Check, and I cannot get out, right?

0:12:08 > 0:12:11This is Mum doing final checks on the locks.

0:12:11 > 0:12:13Timothy is now locked in the shackles.

0:12:13 > 0:12:16Right. So, I cannot get out of this.

0:12:16 > 0:12:19I'm now going to use my magical blanket...

0:12:19 > 0:12:20Nice blanket.

0:12:20 > 0:12:21..to get out of this.

0:12:21 > 0:12:25And, Mum, if you'd like to just put this blanket over my hands

0:12:25 > 0:12:28and just hold it so it's like that, right? A bit better.

0:12:28 > 0:12:31Go on, Mum, a bit more effort, please.

0:12:31 > 0:12:33- OK.- So, what I'm going to do is...

0:12:33 > 0:12:36Watch this bit coming up, it's classic.

0:12:36 > 0:12:37I've got an itch.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39Told ya. He scratched his head.

0:12:39 > 0:12:42How could do that? His hands are in shackles!

0:12:42 > 0:12:43I can't get out.

0:12:43 > 0:12:45See? What a joker.

0:12:45 > 0:12:48So, if you'd like to put that back over...

0:12:48 > 0:12:50He's certainly making his mum work hard.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52She'll get him back for that later.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54I'm going to try and get out.

0:12:54 > 0:12:55It's a very hard trick to do.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58He's at it again! He's got his other hand out!

0:12:58 > 0:13:01- It's terribly hard. - I can not actually...

0:13:01 > 0:13:03And now it's back in.

0:13:03 > 0:13:05You can't escape how good this trick is.

0:13:05 > 0:13:07I can actually still not get out.

0:13:07 > 0:13:10If you'd like to hold that? I can not get out still.

0:13:10 > 0:13:12Put that back over me.

0:13:12 > 0:13:14His mum's idea is throwing the blanket at him!

0:13:14 > 0:13:18I'm just going to try and escape my way out of this.

0:13:18 > 0:13:21Here we go. It's the grand finale!

0:13:24 > 0:13:27And I've escaped from these shackles...

0:13:27 > 0:13:29- Ta-dah! - ..with my magical blanket.

0:13:29 > 0:13:31Where can I get one of those?

0:13:31 > 0:13:32And thank you very much.

0:13:32 > 0:13:34You're number 3.

0:13:34 > 0:13:36At two, it's my man Chris from the Isle Of Man.

0:13:36 > 0:13:41I'm going to ask my assistant Joe to take one of these cards at random.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43Can you take one of these cards at random, please?

0:13:43 > 0:13:46Chris's mate is doing as he's told.

0:13:46 > 0:13:47Thank you. Right.

0:13:47 > 0:13:49Now, I'm going to ask you when to stop, OK?

0:13:49 > 0:13:50Stop.

0:13:50 > 0:13:54Thank you. Great. Can you put the card back in?

0:13:54 > 0:13:56We'll cut the deck a couple of times.

0:13:56 > 0:13:58The chosen card has gone back in the deck.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00And give it a little shuffle.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02He's shuffling the pack good and proper.

0:14:02 > 0:14:04That card could be anywhere now,

0:14:04 > 0:14:07but just wait till you see this bit coming up.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10This trick is going to be in your face, literally.

0:14:10 > 0:14:13Right, then. I'm going to throw these cards everywhere

0:14:13 > 0:14:17and attempt to catch your card, OK?

0:14:17 > 0:14:19One, two, three...

0:14:19 > 0:14:21Careful, Chris, you nearly hit the camera!

0:14:21 > 0:14:24- What was your card? - The king of diamonds.

0:14:24 > 0:14:28Oh. Luckily, I caught the king of diamonds.

0:14:28 > 0:14:30Phew! That was close.

0:14:30 > 0:14:33You got it right and that's why you're at number two.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36Who's my favourite though? I'm not going to tell you yet,

0:14:36 > 0:14:40not before I put on my funny chart show voice.

0:14:40 > 0:14:43At five, it's card flourisher Fred.

0:14:43 > 0:14:47Up at four, it's Gemma's jumping card trick.

0:14:47 > 0:14:50Timothy's escaped to number three...

0:14:50 > 0:14:52And I've escaped from these shackles.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55Letting fly at two was Chris.

0:14:55 > 0:14:57And he was nearly my favourite,

0:14:57 > 0:15:02but out of the tonnes of wannabe wizards, my top one this time was...

0:15:02 > 0:15:07Adam from Ripon and his outrageous rope trick. Watch closely.

0:15:07 > 0:15:11I'm going to start this by tying a knot in the two ends like so.

0:15:13 > 0:15:15This will leave us with...

0:15:15 > 0:15:18See, the rope is tied. Now look. And it's a loopy trick.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21I need a pair of fingers, don't worry they do work.

0:15:21 > 0:15:23Look, if I cut the rope just like so...

0:15:23 > 0:15:26What? He used his fingers as scissors.

0:15:26 > 0:15:29Now I'm left with two pieces of rope tied together with a knot.

0:15:29 > 0:15:31Now, if I undo these just like so...

0:15:33 > 0:15:37We're left with a shorter piece and a longer piece.

0:15:37 > 0:15:41Now, the idea of this is to get them looking a similar length...

0:15:41 > 0:15:45So remember, he has one long piece and one short piece.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49He's pulled the ends together and wraps them round.

0:15:49 > 0:15:51They'll look similar.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54One long piece, one short piece, or so you think.

0:15:54 > 0:15:56Here we go. That's a bit better.

0:15:56 > 0:15:58Whoa! Both pieces of rope are now the same length!

0:15:58 > 0:16:01If I take the ends like so, I can rub them...

0:16:01 > 0:16:03And now it's one rope again.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06That's why you're number one this time.

0:16:07 > 0:16:11I can't wait until next time for more Wannabe Wizards.

0:16:11 > 0:16:14I've had a word with the bosses here at CBBC

0:16:14 > 0:16:18and I've arranged to do a classic trick, the Vanishing Elephant.

0:16:18 > 0:16:22Ladies and gentlemen, bring in the elephant!

0:16:22 > 0:16:24Bring it in, guys.

0:16:26 > 0:16:30What? You've... you've lost an elephant?

0:16:30 > 0:16:32How can...? It's massive!

0:16:32 > 0:16:35PHONE RINGS

0:16:35 > 0:16:38Sorry. Hello?

0:16:38 > 0:16:41Oh, yes, hello, the zoo.

0:16:41 > 0:16:44Of course I've still got your elephant.

0:16:44 > 0:16:48Can't lose an elephant. He's waving now.

0:16:50 > 0:16:52Here's what's coming up.

0:16:52 > 0:16:55Have you worked out the secret to Katherine's challenge?

0:16:55 > 0:16:57If you haven't already got two £1 coins, a 1p

0:16:57 > 0:16:59and a glass, go and get them now,

0:16:59 > 0:17:02and stand by a table with a tablecloth on it.

0:17:02 > 0:17:06And watch what happens when Fergus goes undercover in another school.

0:17:06 > 0:17:08Could it be your class?

0:17:08 > 0:17:11Could your supply teacher be magic?

0:17:11 > 0:17:15In Undercover Magic, we hide cameras in all sorts of places.

0:17:15 > 0:17:19Our magicians play tricks on members of the public who don't know

0:17:19 > 0:17:21they're being filmed.

0:17:21 > 0:17:22This is Jack.

0:17:22 > 0:17:27He's been set up by his mum and has no idea what's about to happen.

0:17:27 > 0:17:29Hi there, do you mind if I sit here?

0:17:29 > 0:17:31Here comes magician Katherine.

0:17:31 > 0:17:34She's got grapes and a nice book to read.

0:17:34 > 0:17:35Sorry.

0:17:35 > 0:17:37Jack thinks he's having a normal day

0:17:37 > 0:17:40out in the park but it's all about to get weird

0:17:40 > 0:17:43cos Katherine's about to do an amazing trick.

0:17:46 > 0:17:48What on Earth?

0:17:57 > 0:18:00I can't believe it! Let's get a rewind.

0:18:01 > 0:18:05The grapes are floating out of the punnet and into her mouth.

0:18:05 > 0:18:08That was awesome! Jack can't believe it!

0:18:08 > 0:18:12Well, the grape just went up in the air without anything happening.

0:18:12 > 0:18:14It was quite odd. Quite cool though.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16It's the moment you've been waiting for,

0:18:16 > 0:18:19a chance for you to learn how to fool your friends.

0:18:19 > 0:18:23Me and Katherine challenged you to get the penny out from under

0:18:23 > 0:18:25the glass without touching the glass or the coins.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28Come on, have you worked it out? How many of you got it?

0:18:28 > 0:18:31Maybe you think you blow on it.

0:18:33 > 0:18:35Nah.

0:18:36 > 0:18:40You scratch the tablecloth and the coin moves across the cloth

0:18:40 > 0:18:42and out from under the glass.

0:18:42 > 0:18:44It may take a while so we've sped it up.

0:18:47 > 0:18:48Let's get a rewind.

0:18:50 > 0:18:53The secret is the tablecloth. Just scratch it and the coin moves

0:18:53 > 0:18:56across the cloth and out from under the glass.

0:18:56 > 0:19:00You can then do it without touching the coins or the glass.

0:19:00 > 0:19:04Now, you've all got something to show off with at home.

0:19:04 > 0:19:07And now ace magician James is about to show off another

0:19:07 > 0:19:09one of his tricks at the theme park.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16This is Ryland, Milo and Christian.

0:19:16 > 0:19:20They have no idea they're about to have the time of their lives.

0:19:20 > 0:19:23We're going to try something really bizarre with my watch, OK?

0:19:23 > 0:19:26This is one of those old-fashioned watches

0:19:26 > 0:19:28where you have to set the time using the stem.

0:19:28 > 0:19:31Something awesome is about to happen.

0:19:31 > 0:19:32If you take the stem out and turn it,

0:19:32 > 0:19:36you can make the time be sort of 3:20,

0:19:36 > 0:19:40or, I don't know, we could get 12:25,

0:19:40 > 0:19:45or you could even get 6:05. OK? Lots of different times.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47I'd like you to just turn that stem

0:19:47 > 0:19:50as much as you want, then whenever you feel like, just stop.

0:19:50 > 0:19:53Ryland's winding the watch to change the time.

0:19:53 > 0:19:56- OK.- OK? And just push it in so I can't cheat and change the time.

0:19:56 > 0:19:59Great. Now, if you could, just remember what that time is.

0:19:59 > 0:20:01- Got it?- OK. - Great. And hold your hand out.

0:20:01 > 0:20:04So Ryland remembered the time on the watch.

0:20:04 > 0:20:07I can't get at that watch. I'm going to try and read your mind.

0:20:07 > 0:20:11So you're thinking of a time? OK, keep thinking of that time.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14OK, yeah, I think I know what this is. This is...

0:20:14 > 0:20:16Are you thinking of 9:10?

0:20:16 > 0:20:18- Yeah.- Whoa! How did that happen?

0:20:18 > 0:20:20Do you know what's more amazing? No hands.

0:20:20 > 0:20:22- Whoa!- Oh, my gosh.

0:20:22 > 0:20:26He read his mind and the hands have gone! Let's get a rewind.

0:20:27 > 0:20:28Are you thinking of ten past nine?

0:20:28 > 0:20:32- Yeah.- Do you know what's even more amazing? No hands.

0:20:32 > 0:20:35- Wow!- It's literally a timeless trick.

0:20:35 > 0:20:39It was as if he could actually see through Ryland's hands.

0:20:39 > 0:20:40It was incredible.

0:20:40 > 0:20:44I didn't give anything away, and then the hands just disappeared.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46It was kind of scary.

0:20:50 > 0:20:54We're over halfway through the show. In fact, it's exactly...

0:20:59 > 0:21:02I think my watch has stopped. We better get on with it.

0:21:02 > 0:21:07It's time for our magician Fergus to fool another unsuspecting class.

0:21:07 > 0:21:09He's about to go to another school.

0:21:09 > 0:21:13He's going undercover as a supply teacher to do an incredible trick.

0:21:13 > 0:21:17Will it be your school? Will it be your class? And...

0:21:17 > 0:21:23Will the class realise that their supply teacher is magic?

0:21:23 > 0:21:27These year five pupils think they're coming in for an average lesson,

0:21:27 > 0:21:31but Fergus is way above average, except for his height.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33The classroom is ripe with hidden cameras and Fergus

0:21:33 > 0:21:36is about to do a mind-bending trick using a time machine.

0:21:36 > 0:21:39Uh-huh, you heard me, a time machine.

0:21:39 > 0:21:42Good morning, class, my name's Mr Flanagan.

0:21:42 > 0:21:44I hope you've had a better day than me.

0:21:44 > 0:21:49I broke my mug, my favourite mug and I spilt coffee all down my tie.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52A likely story, Fergus, but that broken mug and that dirty tie

0:21:52 > 0:21:54are going to be very important to this trick.

0:21:54 > 0:21:59Innovation. Now, who here has watched Doctor Who before?

0:21:59 > 0:22:02Can you tell me what his TARDIS does?

0:22:04 > 0:22:08Exactly. It has the ability to travel through time.

0:22:08 > 0:22:10I've got a joke about Doctor Who. Knock knock?

0:22:10 > 0:22:12Oh, you've heard it before. Fine.

0:22:12 > 0:22:15This is very much what this box is like.

0:22:15 > 0:22:18Whoa! Fergus has told the class he has a time machine

0:22:18 > 0:22:20and they still believe him?

0:22:20 > 0:22:24It's called a High Matter System Time Instigation Module.

0:22:24 > 0:22:26That's H.M.S.T.I.M for short,

0:22:26 > 0:22:30which also stands for Help! My Supply Teacher Is Magic.

0:22:30 > 0:22:33But shh, don't tell the class just yet.

0:22:33 > 0:22:38Scientists have discovered that it is possible to disrupt

0:22:38 > 0:22:39the time continuum.

0:22:39 > 0:22:42Fergus has got the class really excited now,

0:22:42 > 0:22:45he's using long words and everything.

0:22:45 > 0:22:49We now have the ability to move an object either forward in time

0:22:49 > 0:22:51or backward in time.

0:22:51 > 0:22:53Say for example, if you're eating your lunch

0:22:53 > 0:22:55and spill gravy on yourself

0:22:55 > 0:22:56or you spill a bit of food,

0:22:56 > 0:22:58put them into the Time Instigation Module

0:22:58 > 0:23:02and it goes back to before you spilt the food, everything's clean.

0:23:02 > 0:23:03How amazing is that?

0:23:03 > 0:23:06This invention sounds great for Fergus.

0:23:06 > 0:23:08I happen to know he's a really messy eater.

0:23:08 > 0:23:11I spilt coffee over the front of my tie.

0:23:11 > 0:23:13I'll open up the time machine...

0:23:13 > 0:23:17Look, the girl's so excited she can barely watch.

0:23:17 > 0:23:19Place my tie onto the middle shelf...

0:23:19 > 0:23:22Remember, this isn't really a time machine,

0:23:22 > 0:23:25it's a metal box and a clever trick.

0:23:25 > 0:23:27Fergus has totally fooled them.

0:23:27 > 0:23:30Now, if I set that timer back to three and a half hours,

0:23:30 > 0:23:33which is when I bought the tie this morning,

0:23:33 > 0:23:36we let that buzzer run down, there should be about five seconds left.

0:23:36 > 0:23:42Five, four, three, two, one. You ring out the buzzer.

0:23:42 > 0:23:47Keep watching. Will Fergus's tie have gone back in time?

0:23:47 > 0:23:51You will see I have a brand new... Oh, we went back a bit too far,

0:23:51 > 0:23:54you can see it's still got the label on.

0:23:54 > 0:23:55But we've got a brand new tie.

0:23:55 > 0:23:59Whoa! It went so far back in time it's just like when he bought it

0:23:59 > 0:24:02in the shops. Keep watching, it gets better.

0:24:02 > 0:24:06I know that cos Fergus sent me forward in time to watch.

0:24:06 > 0:24:09As I told you as well, I was particularly upset

0:24:09 > 0:24:11because I broke my favourite mug.

0:24:11 > 0:24:14Fergus is about to sent the mug back in time before it was broken.

0:24:14 > 0:24:19Well, at least the class thinks so. Shh, it's magic.

0:24:19 > 0:24:23Of course, it's very important the handle goes in with it,

0:24:23 > 0:24:24onto that middle shelf.

0:24:24 > 0:24:27Place the door back on.

0:24:27 > 0:24:31And now, I set the time machine back to this morning.

0:24:31 > 0:24:37So I do that. Five, four, three, two, one.

0:24:37 > 0:24:40Ring out that buzzer and,

0:24:40 > 0:24:43hopefully, this time when we open up the time machine,

0:24:43 > 0:24:47we'll see we have a brand-new, restored mug.

0:24:47 > 0:24:50CLASS: Oh!

0:24:50 > 0:24:53Whoa! That tea cup puts the tea into time machine

0:24:53 > 0:24:57and this class are no mugs, but Fergus is a very convincing teacher.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00Imagine governments or secret agents,

0:25:00 > 0:25:03say they had a message that had been destroyed

0:25:03 > 0:25:06and it was important that that message was deciphered?

0:25:06 > 0:25:09The class would love a time machine to go forward to lunch break,

0:25:09 > 0:25:13but before that, Fergus has got one last surprise in store for them.

0:25:13 > 0:25:16For example, I got given this message yesterday,

0:25:16 > 0:25:18but as you can see, it's totally destroyed,

0:25:18 > 0:25:22which means I can't read the message that was intended for me.

0:25:22 > 0:25:25- Let's try that. - I'll open up the machine...

0:25:25 > 0:25:28Fergus is about to turn these shreds of paper back into a note

0:25:28 > 0:25:31with a very important message on it.

0:25:31 > 0:25:34So this time I need to go back right to 24 hours

0:25:34 > 0:25:36and I need you to count down from ten with me.

0:25:36 > 0:25:37So ten...

0:25:37 > 0:25:40Glad he didn't ask them to count back from 24 hours,

0:25:40 > 0:25:42we'd have been there all day, literally.

0:25:42 > 0:25:46ALL: Five, four, three, two, one.

0:25:46 > 0:25:50Ring out the buzzer and now, when we open up the time machine,

0:25:50 > 0:25:56there should be a fully formed piece of paper.

0:25:56 > 0:25:57Whoa!

0:25:57 > 0:26:01The shreds have turned back into a whole piece of paper.

0:26:01 > 0:26:04The class are blown away but they're about to get an even bigger shock.

0:26:04 > 0:26:06Now let's have a look.

0:26:06 > 0:26:10It says, "Dear Class Five,

0:26:10 > 0:26:15"the man standing in front of you called Mr Flanagan is not a teacher,

0:26:15 > 0:26:18"he can't really make things travel through time, in fact,

0:26:18 > 0:26:21"there's no such thing as a time machine.

0:26:21 > 0:26:23"He's actually a magician.

0:26:23 > 0:26:26"In fact, if you look around the room you're now sitting in,

0:26:26 > 0:26:28"you'll see glass cabinets.

0:26:28 > 0:26:32"In these glass cabinets are hidden cameras

0:26:32 > 0:26:34"because right now, you're all being filmed

0:26:34 > 0:26:40"for a brand-new CBBC show called Help! My Supply Teacher Is Magic."

0:26:42 > 0:26:43He did it!

0:26:43 > 0:26:48Fergus' brilliant time travelling trick has totally fooled the class.

0:26:48 > 0:26:51First, Fergus sent his dirty tie back in time.

0:26:51 > 0:26:55Not only did it come out clean, it was brand-new!

0:26:55 > 0:26:59It was quite outstanding how a machine could do that.

0:26:59 > 0:27:05Then he sent his broken mug back in time and it was mysteriously fixed.

0:27:05 > 0:27:06I thought it was great,

0:27:06 > 0:27:09you might even be able to buy it in a shop.

0:27:09 > 0:27:11Finally, he sent this shredded paper back in time

0:27:11 > 0:27:13to read the secret note.

0:27:13 > 0:27:16When the note said he wasn't really a teacher, he was a magician,

0:27:16 > 0:27:18I was just shocked.

0:27:18 > 0:27:19Fergus pulled it off!

0:27:19 > 0:27:23The class had no idea he was a magician.

0:27:23 > 0:27:27We totally got them and they loved it!

0:27:31 > 0:27:34See you guys later, but until then,

0:27:34 > 0:27:37if you're at school and you think some magic's about to happen,

0:27:37 > 0:27:41maybe you'll find yourself shouting Help!

0:27:41 > 0:27:44My supply teacher is magic!

0:27:44 > 0:27:49Subtitles by Red Bee Media Ltd
