0:01:52 > 0:01:56And if you want to take part in the interactive illusion,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01and two paperclips.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Do you think you'd be able to tell

0:02:03 > 0:02:06if your teacher started doing magic? Do you?

0:02:06 > 0:02:11This is Fergus. He's a talented, yet scruffy, young magician.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14He loves rabbits, even when they're not in hats.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16He's not so good at timekeeping, though.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20He's forgotten he's going undercover as a supply teacher.

0:02:20 > 0:02:21There you go.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27The hidden cameras are set. Is it your school?

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Is it your class? Let's find out.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Fergus is about to give year five a lesson

0:02:32 > 0:02:34that will make them jump and shout.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36The class are expecting a history lesson,

0:02:36 > 0:02:41but none of them suspect that we've hidden cameras in their classroom

0:02:41 > 0:02:44and they don't realise that Fergus is not a real teacher.

0:02:44 > 0:02:45Can he keep it up?

0:02:45 > 0:02:47Good morning, class.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50My name's Fergus and I'm your supply teacher for the day.

0:02:50 > 0:02:54Now, today's lesson, we're going to talk about history.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58Who knows anything about boats and ships?

0:02:58 > 0:03:01Now, the ship we're talking about today

0:03:01 > 0:03:05is one that set sail on her maiden voyage, April 10th 1912.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08Left the docks in Southampton, England,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11and travelled all the way across the Atlantic,

0:03:11 > 0:03:16due to arrive in New York City, America, but sadly never made it.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Anyone know the name of the ship I'm talking about?

0:03:19 > 0:03:20Yes, you on the front?

0:03:20 > 0:03:22The Titanic. Very good.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24It's a very, very famous ship.

0:03:24 > 0:03:27The class know Fergus is talking about the Titanic,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29but they don't know he's keeping a Titanic-size secret.

0:03:29 > 0:03:34Now, obviously, I'm drawing my Titanic in ink.

0:03:34 > 0:03:40But what do you think the real Titanic was made of?

0:03:40 > 0:03:43- Yes, boy at the back.- Steel. - Steel. Excellent.

0:03:43 > 0:03:48It was said to be impossible to sink.

0:03:49 > 0:03:54But does anyone know what happened to the Titanic?

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Fergus is busy drawing his picture of the Titanic.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59He's taking his time as this is no ordinary picture.

0:03:59 > 0:04:01Yes?

0:04:01 > 0:04:03It sunk. Very good.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06And, last question, does anyone know...

0:04:06 > 0:04:10I'll just get some waves on. ..why it sunk?

0:04:10 > 0:04:13Ah, let's have the boy at the back in the corner.

0:04:13 > 0:04:17It hit an iceberg. Very good.

0:04:17 > 0:04:21Now, the Titanic set sail.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25- It set sail across treacherous seas. - Good drawing, Fergus.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27Personally, I can only draw breath.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30Unknown to the captain of the ship,

0:04:30 > 0:04:33the ship sailed a doomed course.

0:04:33 > 0:04:37Listen closely to Fergus and keep your eyes on that ship.

0:04:37 > 0:04:38It was a dark night.

0:04:38 > 0:04:42The temperature was below freezing.

0:04:42 > 0:04:46And everything very still and quiet.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49The ocean was calm and nothing could be heard

0:04:49 > 0:04:52except the occasional lapping of water

0:04:52 > 0:04:55against the side of the boat.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58Fergus has got the class drawn in with his story.

0:04:58 > 0:05:00They're concentrating hard.

0:05:00 > 0:05:01"Iceberg ahoy...!"

0:05:01 > 0:05:03Ah!

0:05:03 > 0:05:06That made me jump too. It wasn't magic yet, though.

0:05:06 > 0:05:08That's just part of Fergus's fun lesson.

0:05:08 > 0:05:13..screamed 6th officer of the ship, James Moody.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15He'd spotted an iceberg in the water

0:05:15 > 0:05:18and the Titanic was sailing straight towards it.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Some amazing magic coming up. Keep your eyes on the Titanic.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24The helmsman, that's the person who steers the ship,

0:05:24 > 0:05:27did the best they could to turn. "Hard a-starboard!"

0:05:27 > 0:05:31But it was too late. It was as if

0:05:31 > 0:05:34the iceberg had appeared from nowhere.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Woah, it's moving. The class has spotted it too.

0:05:37 > 0:05:40That's the bit I'm getting to, the iceberg.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42The iceberg tore into the bottom of the boat

0:05:42 > 0:05:45and it caused the whole thing to sink.

0:05:45 > 0:05:46ALL: Iceberg!

0:05:46 > 0:05:49Now, I know there is an iceberg in this story

0:05:49 > 0:05:51and I'm glad some of you know about it,

0:05:51 > 0:05:54but don't ruin the story for everyone else.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57He knows what they're shouting about. He's just pretending.

0:05:57 > 0:06:02- Iceberg!- So, that iceberg tore into the bottom of the ship

0:06:02 > 0:06:07and water rushed on and caused the whole ship to slowly sink.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10Now, who's good at drawing in the class?

0:06:10 > 0:06:15I want you to draw your very best image of the Titanic.

0:06:15 > 0:06:18You think you've figured it out. Check this bit out.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20This is where it gets weird.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22Your very best drawing that you can.

0:06:22 > 0:06:26It's a flat picture with nothing cut out or stuck on.

0:06:26 > 0:06:28I'll grab some more paper for you.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30There's paper and crayons on your desk.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33I'd like you to draw your own drawing as best you can

0:06:33 > 0:06:36and I'll be back in a second.

0:06:36 > 0:06:40They're passing the picture around. None of them can work it out.

0:06:42 > 0:06:46How does a ship like this go...? And then...

0:06:46 > 0:06:50Right, thank you very much, class. Everyone take a seat.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53Time for Captain Fergus to tell the class his secret.

0:06:53 > 0:06:55I see someone drew an iceberg on mine.

0:06:55 > 0:06:58- Who did that? Did you draw that? - No, no.- No?

0:06:58 > 0:07:01Oh, that's very good.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04I didn't really draw it. I'm not even a teacher.

0:07:04 > 0:07:11Because we are filming a new CBBC magic series

0:07:11 > 0:07:14and there's a camera just over there, in that box.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17And there's a camera in this box

0:07:17 > 0:07:22and there's a camera over there and you're all going to be on TV!

0:07:22 > 0:07:24ALL SHOUT AND SCREAM

0:07:27 > 0:07:31He did it! Fergus had them hook, line and sinker

0:07:31 > 0:07:35with his brilliant Titanic trick.

0:07:35 > 0:07:39First, he drew the class in with his brilliant story telling.

0:07:39 > 0:07:40He'd spotted an iceberg

0:07:40 > 0:07:43and the Titanic was sailing straight towards it.

0:07:43 > 0:07:47My favourite bit was when he said, "Iceberg ahoy."

0:07:47 > 0:07:49"Iceberg ahoy!"

0:07:50 > 0:07:54Then his drawing started sinking without him even touching it.

0:07:54 > 0:07:55Iceberg!

0:07:55 > 0:07:57And he was just showing it to us

0:07:57 > 0:08:00and then the iceberg came out of nowhere.

0:08:00 > 0:08:01How did he do that?

0:08:01 > 0:08:05Cos it was really weird how he kind of did it.

0:08:05 > 0:08:08Fergus pulled it off.

0:08:08 > 0:08:10The class had no idea he was a magician.

0:08:10 > 0:08:13Would you realise your supply teacher was magic?

0:08:18 > 0:08:20That was great, wasn't it?

0:08:20 > 0:08:23The problem with the Titanic was the lookout.

0:08:23 > 0:08:25He didn't see the iceberg.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28He needed eyes on the back of his head.

0:08:28 > 0:08:30He should have got one of these.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42That's set my head in a spin.

0:08:42 > 0:08:46Later, Katherine will also be going undercover as a supply teacher.

0:08:46 > 0:08:49She'll send these people's heads in a spin too.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51Is this your class?

0:08:52 > 0:08:54Now, Katherine's going to teach you

0:08:54 > 0:08:57the secret behind a trick you can do at home.

0:09:00 > 0:09:03If you fancy yourself as a magician,

0:09:03 > 0:09:05here's a trick you can try on your mates.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07You'll need a pen or a pencil.

0:09:07 > 0:09:09If you haven't got one already, get it now.

0:09:09 > 0:09:11Go on, quick, hurry.

0:09:11 > 0:09:14In the meantime, Katherine will wait.

0:09:14 > 0:09:16You back? Ready? Good.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19First, you need to put your hands out in front of you

0:09:19 > 0:09:23with the backs touching and hold the pen or pencil between your thumbs.

0:09:23 > 0:09:27Do you know how to get your hands so they are palm-to-palm, like this,

0:09:27 > 0:09:29without letting go of the pen or pencil?

0:09:29 > 0:09:31Can you work it out?

0:09:31 > 0:09:35Keep watching and you'll find out later in the show.

0:09:35 > 0:09:39But right now, we have something amazing for you.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41This is the Interactive Illusion.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44This is a trick that you can take part in at home.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47So, get nice and close and put down your toast.

0:09:47 > 0:09:50Oh. I'm a poet and I didn't even know it. Sorry.

0:09:50 > 0:09:52Here's John.

0:09:52 > 0:09:56He likes the sound of his own voice and I like the look of his magic.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59Listen in to John and get involved.

0:09:59 > 0:10:03OK, you should have a couple of paperclips.

0:10:03 > 0:10:04I've got mine here.

0:10:04 > 0:10:08A piece of paper the size of a banknote or an actual banknote.

0:10:08 > 0:10:10And a handsome magician.

0:10:10 > 0:10:11That's me.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13OK, take your piece of paper

0:10:13 > 0:10:18and fold a third over the top, like this.

0:10:18 > 0:10:20And clip it here.

0:10:22 > 0:10:25Now, take the other third and fold it underneath.

0:10:27 > 0:10:31And place your second paperclip here, like this.

0:10:32 > 0:10:33Perfect.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36In a second, I'm going to count to three

0:10:36 > 0:10:37and when I get to three,

0:10:37 > 0:10:40I want you to pull the edges of the paper apart.

0:10:40 > 0:10:42But first, I need my comedy magnet.

0:10:46 > 0:10:50Remember, when I count to three, pull the edges of the paper apart.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52Ready?

0:10:52 > 0:10:57One, two, three, pull.

0:10:58 > 0:11:02OK, check out your paperclips. Pick them up.

0:11:02 > 0:11:04They've magically linked together.

0:11:06 > 0:11:08I love magic with office supplies.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11I once said to a shop assistant, "Do you sell stationery?"

0:11:11 > 0:11:14She said, "No, I wiggle a bit."

0:11:14 > 0:11:17Every week, we'll be bringing you a top five chart

0:11:45 > 0:11:48Number 5, this time, is Alan from London,

0:11:48 > 0:11:51where it's obviously snowing, and Alan means business.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Snow business.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55He's got mean card skills

0:11:55 > 0:11:58and I just love the way he builds in some awesome hip hop moves.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00Check him out.

0:12:00 > 0:12:02Great stuff, Alan.

0:12:02 > 0:12:05OK. Now, watch closely, the 10 of diamonds.

0:12:09 > 0:12:11How does he do it?

0:12:11 > 0:12:13That's left my head in a spin.

0:12:13 > 0:12:16So, it's only fair that Madeleine from Wakefield is next

0:12:16 > 0:12:17with her spinning plates.

0:12:17 > 0:12:21This is not magic, but it looks pretty spellbinding.

0:12:21 > 0:12:23Up and catch.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26Watch this, she does it again.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28Mind the ceiling, Maddy.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30Right, let's step this up a gear.

0:12:30 > 0:12:33She's going for the blue plate as well.

0:12:33 > 0:12:35Interesting technique.

0:12:36 > 0:12:40There's a real knack to this and she's got it.

0:12:40 > 0:12:43But the best bit is still to come.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46Look, the blue plate's spinning on her finger

0:12:46 > 0:12:48and she's going for the red one at the same time.

0:12:48 > 0:12:51Go on, you can do it. Keep going.

0:12:51 > 0:12:53You've nearly got it, I can feel it.

0:12:53 > 0:12:56She's got it. That's two plates spinning at once.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58Nice one, nice two, even.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00And final flip to finish.

0:13:00 > 0:13:01Mad skills, Maddy.

0:13:01 > 0:13:05Back to some old school magic at 3 with Matthew from Farnham.

0:13:05 > 0:13:08During this trick I want you to remember this card.

0:13:08 > 0:13:12- It's the 2 of diamonds.- The 2 of diamonds.- I just said that.

0:13:12 > 0:13:15I want you to hold your hand out in a sandwich manner.

0:13:15 > 0:13:17Sorry. Just hold your hand out.

0:13:17 > 0:13:21I'll place the 2 of diamonds in your hand. Put the other hand on top.

0:13:21 > 0:13:24So, I want you just to remember the 2 of diamonds.

0:13:24 > 0:13:26I also want you to remember my card, the joker.

0:13:26 > 0:13:28OK, we've got it.

0:13:28 > 0:13:32- OK. So, what card have you got? - 2 of diamonds.

0:13:32 > 0:13:34- What card have I got?- Joker.

0:13:34 > 0:13:37Watch. See this. I'm not even touching you. Click.

0:13:37 > 0:13:38See, I have the 2 of diamonds.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41Woah. How did he get the 2 of diamonds from between her hands?

0:13:41 > 0:13:44- And you have?- And where's the joker?

0:13:44 > 0:13:48- The joker.- There it is. Unbelievable trick and that's no joke.

0:13:48 > 0:13:52A seriously good trick coming up at 2. It's Samuel from Lancashire.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55Look, he's got an unfolded box of cards,

0:13:55 > 0:13:57but it looks like it's missing one thing.

0:13:57 > 0:14:00Ta-dah. The prints.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03You can clearly see that the box is now printed.

0:14:03 > 0:14:07- Now, what do they do after they've printed it?- I know, I know!

0:14:07 > 0:14:08They fold it up...

0:14:08 > 0:14:10Oh, that's what I was about to say.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12..into a rough box shape and see,

0:14:12 > 0:14:15it's starting to look a bit like a box now, isn't it?

0:14:15 > 0:14:17Yes, it does, yes.

0:14:17 > 0:14:20Now, what do they do after they've folded it and glued it?

0:14:20 > 0:14:23They put the cards in, they put the cards in!

0:14:23 > 0:14:25- They put the cards in. - See, I told you.

0:14:29 > 0:14:31Wow. Where did they come from?

0:14:31 > 0:14:33Who's my favourite, though?

0:14:33 > 0:14:35I'm not going to tell you yet,

0:14:35 > 0:14:38not before I put on my funny chart show voice.

0:14:38 > 0:14:40Body popping up to five was Alan.

0:14:41 > 0:14:44At four, Madeleine had me in a spin.

0:14:47 > 0:14:49Matthew was at three and he was no joker.

0:14:49 > 0:14:51See, I have the two of diamonds.

0:14:51 > 0:14:53Boxing clever at two was Samuel

0:14:53 > 0:14:56and he was nearly my favourite.

0:14:56 > 0:14:58But, out of the tons of wannabe wizards,

0:14:58 > 0:15:00my top one this time was...

0:15:00 > 0:15:02Billy from Selsey.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05He's going to randomly find all four aces in his pack of cards.

0:15:05 > 0:15:07We've got the two jokers here.

0:15:07 > 0:15:11One, two. I'll set them down there.

0:15:11 > 0:15:13Remember, the two jokers on their own there.

0:15:13 > 0:15:16Now, can you just call stop for me?

0:15:16 > 0:15:18- Stop.- Stop! Oh, they beat me.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21The first ace you stopped at was the ace of diamonds.

0:15:21 > 0:15:22What are the chances?

0:15:22 > 0:15:25I'll try and find the next ace the good old-fashioned way

0:15:25 > 0:15:29of it flicking up, jumping out of the deck, the ace of clubs.

0:15:29 > 0:15:32Wow. He made another ace literally jump from the pack. He's slick.

0:15:32 > 0:15:35The third ace is not on the bottom.

0:15:35 > 0:15:38Can you just touch a card that you might think is the third ace?

0:15:38 > 0:15:41This time, his assistant's going to point to one.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43She wants that one.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46That one card there? That was your choice.

0:15:46 > 0:15:49I didn't influence you in any way to pick that card,

0:15:49 > 0:15:52but you still picked the third ace.

0:15:52 > 0:15:55She made a random choice! How's that possible?

0:15:55 > 0:15:59The fourth ace is the hardest ace to find. Do you know why?

0:15:59 > 0:16:02- Because it's actually not in the deck.- What?!

0:16:02 > 0:16:04It's actually in between the two jokers.

0:16:04 > 0:16:08No way! Yes way. You rule, Billy.

0:16:08 > 0:16:12Can't wait until next time for more Wannabe Wizards.

0:16:12 > 0:16:14Magic is so diverse.

0:16:14 > 0:16:18I've actually been learning what they call manipulation this week.

0:16:18 > 0:16:20So watch as I give you

0:16:20 > 0:16:24the incredible multiplying snooker balls trick. Here we go.

0:16:24 > 0:16:27MOBILE RINGS

0:16:29 > 0:16:35Hello. Speaking. Yep. Where?

0:16:36 > 0:16:38The Lucky Eight Pool Club?

0:16:38 > 0:16:40Oh yeah, I was there this morning, actually.

0:16:40 > 0:16:42Table four, that's right.

0:16:44 > 0:16:49Hmmm. I'm having some technical problems. Here's what's coming up.

0:16:49 > 0:16:52Have you worked out the secret to Katherine's challenge?

0:16:52 > 0:16:56If you haven't already got a pen or a pencil, go and get one now.

0:16:56 > 0:16:57Go on, hurry.

0:16:57 > 0:17:00See James baffle these lads and leave them confused,

0:17:00 > 0:17:03but can you work out how he does it?

0:17:03 > 0:17:07And watch what happens when Katherine goes to another school.

0:17:07 > 0:17:11Could it be your class? Could your supply teacher be magic?

0:17:11 > 0:17:12Wow!

0:17:13 > 0:17:17In Undercover Magic, we hide cameras in all sorts of places.

0:17:17 > 0:17:20Our magicians play tricks on members of the public who don't know

0:17:20 > 0:17:22they're being filmed.

0:17:22 > 0:17:25John is at a shopping centre.

0:17:25 > 0:17:28Sitting next to him is Sam, Abbie and their mum.

0:17:28 > 0:17:31They have no idea what's about to happen.

0:17:31 > 0:17:34I've been shopping with my wife. I don't like shopping.

0:17:34 > 0:17:39You know what the worst thing about shopping is? I get hungry.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41I get hungry, so I've got a good tip for you.

0:17:41 > 0:17:44If you ever get hungry when you're shopping, this is what you do.

0:17:44 > 0:17:47He's taking his shoe off?! Poo-ey!

0:17:47 > 0:17:49Inside your shoe, you keep a £1 coin.

0:17:49 > 0:17:53That way you can always buy yourself an apple if you need to get one.

0:17:53 > 0:17:57The problem is, sometimes I forget to put a £1 in my shoe, so then...

0:17:57 > 0:17:59Wow!

0:17:59 > 0:18:02- I have to keep an apple in my shoe. - Can I get a rewind?

0:18:04 > 0:18:08So then, I have to keep an apple in my shoe.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12That way I never get hungry.

0:18:13 > 0:18:16It's a great system.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18How does he walk with an apple in his shoe?

0:18:18 > 0:18:20Sam and Abbie can't believe it.

0:18:22 > 0:18:24Look. They're trying to work it out.

0:18:24 > 0:18:29I don't know how he could stick an apple in his shoe.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31I didn't expect it to happen.

0:18:31 > 0:18:33That trick had bite -

0:18:33 > 0:18:36and no jokes about apples and pairs of shoes, please.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39It's the moment you've been waiting for.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42A chance for you to learn how to fool your friends!

0:18:42 > 0:18:45Me and Katherine challenge you to get your hands

0:18:45 > 0:18:47so they are palm to palm like this,

0:18:47 > 0:18:50without letting go of the pen or pencil.

0:18:50 > 0:18:54Come on, have you worked it out? How many of you got it?

0:18:54 > 0:18:58Maybe you think it's because Katherine's double-jointed. Nah!

0:18:58 > 0:19:00Go on, Katherine, show us.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06I think we need to see it again slowly.

0:19:06 > 0:19:10Without your friends seeing, cross your thumbs, then rotate

0:19:10 > 0:19:15your hands in opposite directions until your palms are together.

0:19:15 > 0:19:19So secretly cross your thumbs, and then rotate each hand

0:19:19 > 0:19:22in the opposite way until your palms are together.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26Did you get it? Are you amazing already?

0:19:26 > 0:19:30Now you've got something to show off with in the playground.

0:19:30 > 0:19:31And ace magician James

0:19:31 > 0:19:35is about to show off another one of his tricks at the theme park.

0:19:39 > 0:19:42I'm going to show you something with these.

0:19:42 > 0:19:44Just see what they are.

0:19:44 > 0:19:46- They're for keys.- They're key rings.

0:19:46 > 0:19:48This is Ryland, Milo and Christian.

0:19:48 > 0:19:52They're about to see an awesome trick that will melt their minds.

0:19:52 > 0:19:54I got them from the gift shop.

0:19:54 > 0:19:56We're going to try something bizarre.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00Look, what we're going to do is... Let's see,

0:20:00 > 0:20:03do you have ever problems getting one of the keys on the key ring?

0:20:03 > 0:20:08I don't know about them, but I do. I'm paying close attention.

0:20:08 > 0:20:10Look, I've got a magic way of doing it, yeah?

0:20:10 > 0:20:12One...

0:20:12 > 0:20:15two...three.

0:20:15 > 0:20:17Wow. How did he do that? But there's more.

0:20:17 > 0:20:21And if you take these two, what's happened to these two? They link.

0:20:21 > 0:20:24Oi, James, my sister's looking for those earrings.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27And if you get these two and rub them together, they link.

0:20:27 > 0:20:30- Oh, they'll be no use to her now. - The most difficult is this one,

0:20:30 > 0:20:34because it's going to go in between these two. One, two, three.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37He's changed the position of those rings like they melted!

0:20:37 > 0:20:41Now, as easy as they go together, they actually come apart.

0:20:41 > 0:20:44Just give a little blow. One melts straight through, yeah.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46You can stick it straight...

0:20:46 > 0:20:48Ouch. My brain hurts.

0:20:48 > 0:20:51- So, Milo, are you right-handed or left-handed?- Right-handed.

0:20:51 > 0:20:55With your right hand just reach up and grab this ring here,

0:20:55 > 0:20:58- give it a little pull. That's not coming off?- No.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01Watch - we blow...and straight off.

0:21:01 > 0:21:04James blew it, and he's about to blow the magic - or is he?

0:21:04 > 0:21:07I'll tell you how it works. It's an illusion.

0:21:07 > 0:21:10If you hold them like this, it looks like they're linked.

0:21:10 > 0:21:12But you can see they're not.

0:21:12 > 0:21:15There's lots of distance between them.

0:21:15 > 0:21:19It's not till you come back and blow, they link.

0:21:19 > 0:21:22Wow, that's cool. Let's get a rewind.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24There's lots of distance between them...

0:21:24 > 0:21:27He was pretending to show them how it was done,

0:21:27 > 0:21:29but it was another great trick!

0:21:29 > 0:21:32- They link.- They are totally stunned.

0:21:32 > 0:21:34And again, this one goes just in between...

0:21:34 > 0:21:37- Really weird. - It's really weird, isn't it?

0:21:37 > 0:21:41That's a really cool trick you can do with one...

0:21:41 > 0:21:42two...

0:21:45 > 0:21:46..three...and four.

0:21:46 > 0:21:48Some four-midable magic.

0:21:50 > 0:21:51It was bizarre.

0:21:51 > 0:21:58I really don't know how he did it because I can't do it and...

0:21:58 > 0:22:00- No, it's just amazing.- ..Three.

0:22:00 > 0:22:05'They just went through each other and melted together'

0:22:05 > 0:22:08and I'm dumbfounded. It's just incredible.

0:22:08 > 0:22:10Awesome trick, James.

0:22:10 > 0:22:13Let's leave the theme park and head back to school.

0:22:13 > 0:22:16This time it's Katherine who's pretending to be a supply teacher

0:22:16 > 0:22:19and trying to fool another class.

0:22:19 > 0:22:23She's at another school to do an incredible trick.

0:22:23 > 0:22:25Is it your school, is it your class and...

0:22:25 > 0:22:31will the class realise their supply teacher is magic?

0:22:31 > 0:22:35These year four pupils think they're learning about scientific facts,

0:22:35 > 0:22:38but Katherine's about to tell them some science fiction.

0:22:38 > 0:22:40Can she do the impossible?

0:22:40 > 0:22:43The classroom's been rigged with hidden cameras,

0:22:43 > 0:22:47and Katherine has got a trick that will catch them unawares.

0:22:47 > 0:22:48They have no idea, ha, ha!

0:22:48 > 0:22:49Good morning, everybody.

0:22:49 > 0:22:52Now, what we're going to be learning about today

0:22:52 > 0:22:56is all about security systems. Nearly everyone has a key, don't they,

0:22:56 > 0:22:59- to open their front door?- ALL: Yes.

0:22:59 > 0:23:03And how about, do any of your parents have those little cards

0:23:03 > 0:23:07- to get into their offices where they work?- ALL: Yes.- They do.

0:23:07 > 0:23:10- And how about the fingerprint ones, the biometric ones?- ALL: Yes.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13You've seen that, and they actually read your fingerprint.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15This all sounds very futuristic,

0:23:15 > 0:23:19and in the near future this class is going to see an amazing trick.

0:23:19 > 0:23:23Today, we're going to look at a security system that goes

0:23:23 > 0:23:27one step further than this, and it's similar to a fingerprint reader,

0:23:27 > 0:23:30but the difference is it doesn't just read a part of your body,

0:23:30 > 0:23:33it reads your entire body, reading your DNA.

0:23:33 > 0:23:35If it could read my body,

0:23:35 > 0:23:38it would say, "Cut down on the crisps, mate," but enough about me.

0:23:38 > 0:23:42Today, I've been fortunate enough to get my hands on one of these units,

0:23:42 > 0:23:44and I've brought it in.

0:23:44 > 0:23:48The lad rubbing his hands can't wait to see this new invention,

0:23:48 > 0:23:52- but the only invention here is Katherine's story.- Here it is.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55- Ta-da!- This obviously doesn't look like the size of a door,

0:23:55 > 0:23:58but as it's a prototype, they've made it smaller,

0:23:58 > 0:23:59and if I open it up,

0:23:59 > 0:24:06we can see that it's got this solid metal, which is really solid,

0:24:06 > 0:24:10and in fact, I'm going to take this out so you can all have a feel.

0:24:10 > 0:24:13Katherine's about to do some magic with that metal.

0:24:13 > 0:24:16Come on, it must be plastic sprayed silver.

0:24:16 > 0:24:20There is no way... It's very hard. There's no way that...

0:24:20 > 0:24:24- Go on, mate, give it a bash.- That's because your DNA...- Not that hard!

0:24:24 > 0:24:27- ..hasn't been programmed into it. - Yeah, it's definitely solid metal.

0:24:27 > 0:24:31There's no way you'd get through that, is there? Completely solid.

0:24:31 > 0:24:34Now, the metal always slides into a doorframe,

0:24:34 > 0:24:37and actually the doorframe is really, really important,

0:24:37 > 0:24:42because it's the doorframe that actually reads your data.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45Katherine has convinced the class that this door can read her body

0:24:45 > 0:24:49and let her through the metal, but how's she going to pull it off?

0:24:49 > 0:24:54So if I pull these curtains across, which protects us from the laser...

0:24:54 > 0:24:56A laser, walking through metal -

0:24:56 > 0:24:58is this a science lesson from the future?

0:24:58 > 0:25:01I've gotta see this.

0:25:01 > 0:25:05..a really, really clear reading. There we go.

0:25:07 > 0:25:10Now, if I switch this on, like that,

0:25:10 > 0:25:15because my DNA has been reprogrammed into the system, it should now

0:25:15 > 0:25:21read it and allow me to pass all the way through the metal, OK?

0:25:21 > 0:25:23Let's see if works.

0:25:23 > 0:25:25Surely she can't do it.

0:25:26 > 0:25:29Hang on, it looks like she can do it.

0:25:29 > 0:25:32I mean, pretty slowly, granted, but she can do it.

0:25:32 > 0:25:35It's a grand entrance by Katherine.

0:25:40 > 0:25:42Wow, look at that.

0:25:42 > 0:25:46Wow, and the metal's still solid, that's incredible!

0:25:46 > 0:25:48Let's get a rewind.

0:25:48 > 0:25:50How was that possible?

0:25:50 > 0:25:54She walked right through the metal, almost as if she melted through it.

0:25:57 > 0:25:59Wow, look at that.

0:26:01 > 0:26:04There's no way that anyone else can come through it.

0:26:04 > 0:26:05Isn't that incredible?

0:26:05 > 0:26:09This gizmo sounds fantastic, but actually it's a trick.

0:26:09 > 0:26:12- Do you want to know a secret? - ALL: Yes.

0:26:12 > 0:26:15Time for Katharine to unlock the secret.

0:26:15 > 0:26:19I'm actually not a teacher. I'm a magician.

0:26:19 > 0:26:22That was a magic trick, and right at this very moment,

0:26:22 > 0:26:24you're all being filmed.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27Because if you look in the back, there's the camera,

0:26:27 > 0:26:29and another camera there and there,

0:26:29 > 0:26:32because you're all going to be on a new CBBC magic show

0:26:32 > 0:26:35called Help! My Supply Teacher Is Magic.

0:26:35 > 0:26:37ALL: Wow!

0:26:39 > 0:26:40She did it.

0:26:40 > 0:26:45Katherine's walking-through-metal trick has totally fooled the class.

0:26:45 > 0:26:46EXCITED CHATTER

0:26:48 > 0:26:51She showed everyone that the metal was solid.

0:26:51 > 0:26:54It's hard. There's no way you could get through that.

0:26:54 > 0:26:59And then, incredibly, she walked right through the metal.

0:26:59 > 0:27:05When she walked through the metal, I was like, "Oh, my gosh!"

0:27:05 > 0:27:08OK, this is freaking me out.

0:27:08 > 0:27:09Katherine pulled it off.

0:27:09 > 0:27:13The class had no idea she was a magician.

0:27:13 > 0:27:17We totally got them, and they loved it.

0:27:24 > 0:27:26Remember, if you're at school

0:27:26 > 0:27:29and you think something magical might be looming on the horizon,

0:27:29 > 0:27:34maybe you'll be shouting, "Help, my supply teacher is magic!"

0:27:48 > 0:27:51Subtitles by Red Bee Media Ltd
