0:00:36 > 0:00:39We've got an amazing line-up of experts, hotshots and
0:00:39 > 0:00:44all-round dudes with the low-down on how you can do what they can do.
0:00:45 > 0:00:47In just 15 minutes, you will know how to
0:00:47 > 0:00:49throw a javelin,
0:00:49 > 0:00:50make sweeties,
0:00:50 > 0:00:52roll a coin,
0:00:52 > 0:00:55cure hiccups, save your pennies
0:00:55 > 0:00:58and this kid shows you how to mummify someone.
0:00:58 > 0:00:59But before all that,
0:00:59 > 0:01:03it's time for the first stop on your journey to becoming epic.
0:01:03 > 0:01:07If you have three mates and aren't afraid of heights, then watch this.
0:01:08 > 0:01:10Cheerleading is epic.
0:01:10 > 0:01:13There are cheerleading competitions, sports events
0:01:13 > 0:01:15and you've probably seen it in the movies.
0:01:15 > 0:01:17But it's not all pom-poms and chanting, nuh-uh,
0:01:17 > 0:01:20there are epic stunts to check out, too.
0:01:20 > 0:01:24Just like the one these four cheerleaders are going to show you.
0:01:24 > 0:01:25Hi, we're UA Manchester Cheer
0:01:25 > 0:01:30- and we're going to show you how to do a double-base thigh stand.- A what?!
0:01:30 > 0:01:34Oh, OK, double-base thigh stand, that looks impressive.
0:01:34 > 0:01:36First you need to get three friends together.
0:01:37 > 0:01:39Two of which will be the side bases.
0:01:39 > 0:01:41They're going to create a platform for the flyer,
0:01:41 > 0:01:44who goes up in the air performing the stunt and the back spot, who
0:01:44 > 0:01:47stands behind the flyer, protecting the head, neck and shoulders.
0:01:47 > 0:01:51The two bases are going to take a nice deep lunge, overlapping their
0:01:51 > 0:01:55feet, making sure they create a nice platform for their flyer to step on.
0:01:55 > 0:01:57The flyer's going to place her right foot into the pocket of
0:01:57 > 0:02:00one of the bases. The pocket is where the hip meets the leg.
0:02:00 > 0:02:02It's where you keep your change, silly!
0:02:02 > 0:02:04Be careful, if you put your foot in the wrong spot,
0:02:04 > 0:02:06it could be a bit painful.
0:02:06 > 0:02:08The flyer is going to step up strongly onto her right foot,
0:02:08 > 0:02:09locking out her leg.
0:02:09 > 0:02:13She will then place her other foot into the pocket of the other base.
0:02:13 > 0:02:15The bases hug tightly around the leg
0:02:15 > 0:02:17and the back spot holds on at the flyer's waist.
0:02:17 > 0:02:19Hope you've got a good grip!
0:02:19 > 0:02:23To top it all off, the flyer's going to put her arms up in a V.
0:02:23 > 0:02:25The side bases will then do the same.
0:02:25 > 0:02:28And there you have it, a double-base thigh stand.
0:02:28 > 0:02:30And that's how you do an epic cheerleading stunt.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35Right, that's our first hit of epicness done and dusted.
0:02:35 > 0:02:37But don't worry, our journey continues.
0:02:37 > 0:02:40Now, here's a little tip for that annoying thing you
0:02:40 > 0:02:41get from time to time.
0:02:41 > 0:02:44I'm talking about hiccups, not your younger brother!
0:02:45 > 0:02:47To save you from this noisy nightmare,
0:02:47 > 0:02:51we have Dr Chris Van Tulleken to show you how.
0:02:52 > 0:02:55I'm Dr Chris and I'm going to tell you how to get rid of hiccups.
0:02:55 > 0:02:58- Hurrah!- Hiccups occur when a muscle between your chest
0:02:58 > 0:03:02and your abdomen called your diaphragm goes into spasm
0:03:02 > 0:03:04and causes the sound at the top of the windpipe.
0:03:04 > 0:03:08- It's catching!- Hiccups are a bit like the opposite of a burp.
0:03:08 > 0:03:09Burp!
0:03:09 > 0:03:12- Rude.- Hiccups are not serious, they usually only last a few minutes
0:03:12 > 0:03:15and everyone gets them from time to time.
0:03:15 > 0:03:19Here are a few things you can try which may help you stop your hiccups.
0:03:19 > 0:03:21Drink water from the far side of the glass.
0:03:22 > 0:03:25Surely, there is something easier than that.
0:03:25 > 0:03:27- Not that!- You can bite on a lemon.
0:03:29 > 0:03:32Put some pressure on your nose while swallowing.
0:03:33 > 0:03:36Or try some good old-fashioned gargling.
0:03:39 > 0:03:43Truth is, hiccups only last a short while, so if you did nothing,
0:03:43 > 0:03:44you'd look a bit less silly.
0:03:44 > 0:03:47Try having a nap, when you wake up, they'll be gone.
0:03:47 > 0:03:50There you have it, how to get rid of hiccups.
0:03:51 > 0:03:52On we go.
0:03:52 > 0:03:53If you thought that was good,
0:03:53 > 0:03:57this next one will send your epicometer off the scale.
0:03:57 > 0:04:00Here's a cool coin trick that will totally wow your mates!
0:04:01 > 0:04:06My name is Ben Hanlin, I'm a magician and this is how to roll a coin.
0:04:06 > 0:04:09A-ha! The high speed coin roll, bring it on.
0:04:09 > 0:04:12First of all, take the coin and place it between your thumb
0:04:12 > 0:04:14and your index finger, like so.
0:04:14 > 0:04:17Then tilt your hand about 30 or 40 degrees.
0:04:17 > 0:04:20This will allow gravity to pull the coin downwards, like that.
0:04:20 > 0:04:22Now, as it falls onto the next finger,
0:04:22 > 0:04:25move your middle finger downwards and your index finger upwards.
0:04:27 > 0:04:29Then when it hits your ring finger, do exactly the same.
0:04:29 > 0:04:32That goes down and your middle finger goes up.
0:04:32 > 0:04:34Then when it reaches your last finger,
0:04:34 > 0:04:38- let it fall into your other hand. - One finger down, one finger up.
0:04:38 > 0:04:41OK, Magic Boy, I think we've just about got that. What next?
0:04:41 > 0:04:44To be extra cool, when it gets to the bottom, reverse the steps
0:04:44 > 0:04:47so it comes back up, like that.
0:04:49 > 0:04:51Stick it all together and this is what you've got.
0:04:52 > 0:04:55And that's how to do a coin roll.
0:04:55 > 0:04:56Nice one.
0:04:57 > 0:05:00Feeling epic? We've only just started.
0:05:00 > 0:05:02There's still all this to come.
0:05:02 > 0:05:05This guy tells you how to spend your cash wisely.
0:05:05 > 0:05:07No biggie, it's because I care.
0:05:07 > 0:05:10This Olympian shows you how to chuck one of these bad boys.
0:05:12 > 0:05:15And this dude shows you how to make your own sweeties.
0:05:15 > 0:05:17Bish, bash, bosh, done.
0:05:17 > 0:05:20But first, if you find yourself in the unlikely event that you
0:05:20 > 0:05:25have to mummify something, then this kid can help you out.
0:05:29 > 0:05:31Mummification is pretty epic stuff.
0:05:31 > 0:05:34The ancient Egyptians believed that if your spirit was to
0:05:34 > 0:05:38survive in the afterlife, your body needed to be preserved forever.
0:05:38 > 0:05:40That's why they came up with the idea of mummifying
0:05:40 > 0:05:42people once they die,
0:05:42 > 0:05:45a ritual they carried out for 3,000 years.
0:05:45 > 0:05:47It was ages ago when it last happened,
0:05:47 > 0:05:50but just imagine if you had to do it.
0:05:50 > 0:05:53Think that's unlikely? Well, picture the scene.
0:05:54 > 0:05:57You're walking down the street on your way to school
0:05:57 > 0:05:59- and you hear a phone ringing.- Ooh.
0:05:59 > 0:06:01You go to answer it, but instead of a phone box,
0:06:01 > 0:06:03you've actually stepped into a time machine
0:06:03 > 0:06:07and are transported to an ancient Egyptian burial ceremony.
0:06:08 > 0:06:13Guess what? You're in charge! No need to worry, though.
0:06:13 > 0:06:16To fill us in on this slightly gruesome process,
0:06:16 > 0:06:19we've dug up a man who's an expert on ancient Egypt.
0:06:19 > 0:06:21Take it away, Aidan.
0:06:21 > 0:06:22HE SHUDDERS
0:06:22 > 0:06:24First stage was to wash the body
0:06:24 > 0:06:26and then make a cut in the side of the tummy.
0:06:28 > 0:06:32And they took out the stomach, the liver, the lungs and the intestines.
0:06:33 > 0:06:37Really? Oh, anyone else feeling a little bit sick?
0:06:37 > 0:06:39Surely it can't get any worse than that!
0:06:39 > 0:06:44- Then it was time to take the brain out.- Oh, hang on, it just got worse!
0:06:44 > 0:06:47They put a chisel up the nostril, tapped
0:06:47 > 0:06:50and broke through between the nose and the brain case.
0:06:50 > 0:06:54Oooh, that's got to hurt! Well, it would if they were still alive.
0:06:55 > 0:06:58They'd then put a piece of bent wire up the nose,
0:06:58 > 0:07:01wiggled it around a bit to break up the brain.
0:07:01 > 0:07:04Brilliant, of course they did.
0:07:04 > 0:07:08They then left the brain to trickle out the nostrils into a bowl,
0:07:08 > 0:07:10bit like a bowl of brain porridge.
0:07:10 > 0:07:11Brain porridge?
0:07:13 > 0:07:16Think I'll stick to cornflakes, thank you very much.
0:07:16 > 0:07:18After drying out the body by putting salt on it,
0:07:18 > 0:07:21it was then time for that all-important linen.
0:07:21 > 0:07:24The Egyptians started off wrapping the individual fingers
0:07:24 > 0:07:28and toes in linen, but gradually more and more layers were added.
0:07:28 > 0:07:31Eventually, a fully wrapped mummy would look
0:07:31 > 0:07:35just like a cylinder of linen with a head on top of it.
0:07:35 > 0:07:38Lovely, that's your classic mummy look, right there.
0:07:38 > 0:07:41To be honest, though, I'm still thinking of the brain porridge.
0:07:41 > 0:07:45- Nice. - And that was how to mummify someone.
0:07:45 > 0:07:48Thanks, Aidan. That was truly epic.
0:07:48 > 0:07:51So on to the next and I've got a question for you -
0:07:51 > 0:07:54do you like javelins? Do you like Olympians?
0:07:54 > 0:07:58Do you want to throw a javelin like an Olympian? Then listen up.
0:08:00 > 0:08:03Hi, I'm Katarina Johnson-Thompson, I'm an Olympic athlete
0:08:03 > 0:08:05and here's how to throw a javelin.
0:08:05 > 0:08:09Katarina Johnson-Thompson is a legend in waiting.
0:08:09 > 0:08:12She competed alongside Jessica Ennis in the Olympic heptathlon
0:08:12 > 0:08:16and has been tipped for glory in Rio in 2016.
0:08:18 > 0:08:22When it comes to throwing a javelin like a pro,
0:08:22 > 0:08:24there is no one better to learn the basics from.
0:08:26 > 0:08:28Before starting, ensure you've limbered up your arms.
0:08:28 > 0:08:31I like to stretch with the javelin like this.
0:08:33 > 0:08:36OK, Katarina, whenever you've finished warming up,
0:08:36 > 0:08:38why don't you tell us how we should grip our javelin.
0:08:40 > 0:08:42I throw it with my right hand, which is my writing hand.
0:08:42 > 0:08:45I would grip the banding with my thumb at the top of the groove.
0:08:45 > 0:08:49Nice one, Katarina, keep it groovy for the perfect hold.
0:08:49 > 0:08:51Right, before we think about running and throwing,
0:08:51 > 0:08:53let's kick off with a few standing throws.
0:08:53 > 0:08:55Tell us more, Javelin Lady.
0:08:56 > 0:08:58To get into a good javelin position,
0:08:58 > 0:09:01you're going to draw your arm back with a straight arm, javelin above
0:09:01 > 0:09:05your shoulder, throw through the point so the javelin stays straight.
0:09:05 > 0:09:09Got that? OK, let's take it up a gear by adding a simple three step
0:09:09 > 0:09:11run into the mix.
0:09:11 > 0:09:13When you've mastered the standing throw, progress to three steps
0:09:13 > 0:09:15because that will give it more distance.
0:09:15 > 0:09:19I like to get my rhythm by counting to three, just like this.
0:09:19 > 0:09:21One, two-three.
0:09:21 > 0:09:24It all looks pretty easy when Katarina does it,
0:09:24 > 0:09:27but once you got that mastered, it's time to do things Olympic style.
0:09:27 > 0:09:32Finally, you progress to seven steps, which is what I did at the Olympics,
0:09:32 > 0:09:35and your javelin throwing should look like this.
0:09:36 > 0:09:40Oh, is it a bird? Is it a plane?
0:09:40 > 0:09:45Nope, it's Katarina's mighty javelin. See how it soars.
0:09:45 > 0:09:47And that was how to throw a javelin.
0:09:48 > 0:09:51Thanks, Katarina. Right, do you like money?
0:09:51 > 0:09:54Yes, stupid question, of course you do.
0:09:54 > 0:09:55Here's an epic tip on how to get the most
0:09:55 > 0:09:57out of your wonderful wonga!
0:09:59 > 0:10:00Hi, guys, I'm Ricky
0:10:00 > 0:10:03and I'm going to show you how to spend your pocket money wisely.
0:10:03 > 0:10:04No biggie, it's because I care.
0:10:04 > 0:10:07Now, the average amount of pocket money children in the UK get
0:10:07 > 0:10:09per week is more than £5!
0:10:09 > 0:10:11Woo-hoo! Loaded.
0:10:12 > 0:10:15Quite a lot, isn't it? Well, not if you're spending without thinking.
0:10:15 > 0:10:19So here are a few tips to make sure you can save while you're spending.
0:10:19 > 0:10:20Always shop around.
0:10:20 > 0:10:23Also, always make sure you check how much something is per 100ml or
0:10:23 > 0:10:26per 100g. I'll give you an example.
0:10:26 > 0:10:29It might be cheaper to buy an individual can of cola
0:10:29 > 0:10:30than it is a multipack.
0:10:30 > 0:10:33You see, at this well known supermarket, an individual can
0:10:33 > 0:10:37would set you back 12.5p per 100ml, whereas the multipack is almost 18p.
0:10:38 > 0:10:41OK, look at the little number, not the big number, got it.
0:10:41 > 0:10:44And that's how you can be good with your money.
0:10:44 > 0:10:46Thanks, Ricky, with your tips,
0:10:46 > 0:10:49I'll be a millionaire by the end of the month. Probably not.
0:10:49 > 0:10:52Right, time for one last dose of epicness and it's super sweet,
0:10:52 > 0:10:53literally.
0:10:56 > 0:10:59Sweets are epic. But they cost lovely money.
0:10:59 > 0:11:02Wouldn't it be ace if you could make them at home? Well, you can.
0:11:02 > 0:11:04We've got Junior Bake Off super chef, Aaron Craze,
0:11:04 > 0:11:07to show you how to make your own gummy worms.
0:11:07 > 0:11:09OK, now for this recipe, you're going to need..
0:11:20 > 0:11:24- ..or orange juice or whatever flavour you would like.- Cola, please!
0:11:24 > 0:11:27Right, now, let's make the gummy worms.
0:11:27 > 0:11:31So this is gelatine, this is what makes the gummy.
0:11:31 > 0:11:36Water goes into the gelatine. Pour enough in just to cover the gelatine.
0:11:36 > 0:11:39Now, get your sugar and a pan and pour it in.
0:11:43 > 0:11:44And then add the glucose.
0:11:45 > 0:11:48Now, with a little bit of help from some more water.
0:11:50 > 0:11:53All we need to do now is cook it. Uh-huh.
0:11:53 > 0:11:55Obviously, get an adult to help here.
0:11:55 > 0:11:57I don't want you burning yourself.
0:11:57 > 0:12:00Now, we just want to warm it up, that's all we're doing. OK.
0:12:00 > 0:12:02Bish, bash, bosh, done.
0:12:05 > 0:12:08OK, now, we're going to put it all together.
0:12:08 > 0:12:11So in with your cola, as I'm using.
0:12:13 > 0:12:15Then the gelatine.
0:12:16 > 0:12:22And then for the colouring. I'm using blue, cos I'm a Chelsea supporter.
0:12:23 > 0:12:26Now, all we have to do is put the mixture into the dish.
0:12:26 > 0:12:28Wow.
0:12:30 > 0:12:32We need to put them into the fridge for an hour.
0:12:33 > 0:12:37OK, an hour has passed, time to get your gummy worms out.
0:12:38 > 0:12:40How do we know if they're ready? Hmm.
0:12:43 > 0:12:45Yeah, they're ready. Let's go.
0:12:46 > 0:12:53- Get one of these.- A spatula.- And start scraping away and releasing it.
0:12:53 > 0:12:56Then you pop it on to your chopping board.
0:12:56 > 0:12:58And then start cutting out your worms.
0:12:58 > 0:13:01Again, get your adult back for this. No slicing your hands on my watch.
0:13:01 > 0:13:05- We all know what a worm looks like, don't we? Long and wiggly.- And blue.
0:13:07 > 0:13:12Sprinkle some sugar. Beautiful. Your dentist is going to love this one.
0:13:12 > 0:13:16Sugar's on. Now, we just have to pop 'em onto the plate.
0:13:18 > 0:13:23And that, my dears, is how you make gummy worms. Oh, yeah!
0:13:26 > 0:13:28Cheers, Aaron.
0:13:28 > 0:13:30Right, that brings us to the end of 15 minutes of total,
0:13:30 > 0:13:32random epicness.
0:13:32 > 0:13:33You should now be able to try this.
0:13:35 > 0:13:36And this.
0:13:37 > 0:13:39And even that.
0:13:39 > 0:13:42Now, go forth and be epic at everything!
0:13:47 > 0:13:50If you want to be really epic, then head on over to the CBBC
0:13:50 > 0:13:57website, where you can watch all the videos again and again and again.
0:13:57 > 0:13:59So you can truly master your epicness.
0:14:01 > 0:14:03Epi-i-i-i-c!
0:14:03 > 0:14:06Subtitles by Red Bee Media Ltd
