0:01:01 > 0:01:03and get your hips a-wiggling.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Hula hoops are epic.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08They've been spun, twirled and thrown throughout history.

0:01:08 > 0:01:12And guess what, you can even become an Olympic champion in it.

0:01:12 > 0:01:13Seriously!

0:01:13 > 0:01:15And we've got two of Team GB's finest gymnasts,

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Jade Faulkner and Lynne Hutchinson,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22Show us how it's done, Lynne.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25First of all, you need to get used to rotating the hoop round your hand,

0:01:25 > 0:01:28so put your hand in this position and put the hoop on your hand.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31And then rotate it, keeping your fingers together.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33This is actually a bit tricky!

0:01:33 > 0:01:36A good tip is to keep it on your hand and not let it go up onto your wrist.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39Once you're good with that, you can try swapping hands.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41Got it! I think... What's next?

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Another great move is the boomerang.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48As you let go of the hoop, pull your fingers backwards.

0:01:48 > 0:01:49BOOM!

0:01:49 > 0:01:50..erang.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53Now it's time to try a trick with your foot.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55Put the hoop on one foot and rotate it with the other.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57Once you can do that, try skipping.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59Foot hopping, got it!

0:01:59 > 0:02:01Olympics here I come!

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Once you get really good, you can try some more difficult moves, like this.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Whoa!

0:02:10 > 0:02:12Super hooping!

0:02:12 > 0:02:15- BOTH:- And that is how to be epic with a hoop.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18And gold-medal ready-ish!

0:02:18 > 0:02:20Thanks, twirly girls!

0:02:20 > 0:02:21Gold medals are ace,

0:02:21 > 0:02:25and if there was one on offer for being epic at all things fishy,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27then this guy would have millions of them.

0:02:29 > 0:02:34Jellyfish are epic, fact! But they sting, ouch!

0:02:34 > 0:02:38Luckily for you, we've got top marine biologist the Blowfish

0:02:38 > 0:02:42to tell you what to do if one of these slimy suckers get you.

0:02:42 > 0:02:43What do we do, big guy?

0:02:43 > 0:02:46As soon as you think you've been stung, don't panic.

0:02:46 > 0:02:47Aaah!

0:02:47 > 0:02:50I said, "Don't panic." Get out of the sea.

0:02:50 > 0:02:54Now, you could still have a jellyfish tentacle stuck onto you.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55- It might look something like this. - Oh!

0:02:55 > 0:02:58But it won't be as tasty as this, cos this is a strawberry lace.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Oh, I do love those.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04- That thing will continue to sting you, you must get rid of it.- How?

0:03:04 > 0:03:07Don't touch it with your bare fingers.

0:03:07 > 0:03:11- Use something like a shell to peel off the stinger...- Genius!

0:03:11 > 0:03:12..and throw it away.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14Litterbug! I've heard you're supposed to...

0:03:14 > 0:03:16- HE WHISTLES - ..on it.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Some of you may have heard that you should pee on a jellyfish sting.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21- I just said that.- Well, don't!

0:03:21 > 0:03:24- Hmm, really? - It could actually make it hurt more.

0:03:24 > 0:03:25Anything else, Blowfish?

0:03:25 > 0:03:27If you start to suffer from an allergic reaction,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29feel dizzy, queasy,

0:03:29 > 0:03:31or you've been stung in your eyes or mouth,

0:03:31 > 0:03:34you need to get medical attention.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38Notify a lifeguard or, if in doubt, ring 999.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Don't worry, the very vast majority of jellyfish stings

0:03:41 > 0:03:43are never a problem.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46Right, better not call on my pet man o' war, then.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48Cheers, Fish!

0:03:48 > 0:03:50So you're all up on jellyfish stings,

0:03:50 > 0:03:53but what would you do if you were thrown onto stage

0:03:53 > 0:03:56and told to perform Bollywood-style?

0:03:57 > 0:04:00You could do this! Looks epic, right?

0:04:00 > 0:04:03Well, here is the mistress of moves, the duchess of dance,

0:04:03 > 0:04:07the ruler of rhythm to show you how.

0:04:07 > 0:04:08Hi, I'm Honey Kalaria,

0:04:13 > 0:04:15Splendid!

0:04:15 > 0:04:18The first move we're going to learn is the Indian folk-dance move.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Hit me, Bollywood style.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23We're going to be putting our left hand towards our chest

0:04:23 > 0:04:28and make sure the other arm is pulled right across on the other side.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31- Yep, I got it!- Look away,

0:04:31 > 0:04:35and go - one, two, three, four.

0:04:35 > 0:04:37Then try it the other way, and - one, two...

0:04:37 > 0:04:39One, two, three, four.

0:04:39 > 0:04:40Right, show me the body roll.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43- The way you do the move is you step. - Yep.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45- You bend your head.- Oh, my neck!

0:04:45 > 0:04:47- You bend your waist.- Oh, my back!

0:04:47 > 0:04:50And then you wiggle yourself all the way underneath...

0:04:50 > 0:04:52- Oh!- ..to the other side.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55Cool! Let's take this outside and epicarise it!

0:04:55 > 0:04:58Bollywood dancing is about looking spectacular,

0:04:58 > 0:05:01so get all your mates together and make sure you look truly amazing,

0:05:01 > 0:05:03like this.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10That is amazing! Awesome Bollywood moves, guys.

0:05:13 > 0:05:17Now, that's how you become epic at Bollywood dancing!

0:05:17 > 0:05:21That was great, I am whacked. Bye, Honey!

0:05:21 > 0:05:24You're still only halfway through your epic odyssey. Cool, eh?

0:05:24 > 0:05:27And there's still all this to come.

0:05:27 > 0:05:31Our resident king of uselessness shows you how to do this,

0:05:31 > 0:05:33this girl does this - fast,

0:05:33 > 0:05:36and this one does that in her head.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39But first, fancy being a court jester?

0:05:39 > 0:05:42Well, this kid will show you how.

0:05:42 > 0:05:44If you think you're the funny kid at school,

0:05:44 > 0:05:47then you could take a leaf out of a medieval jester's book.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50They had to make people like Henry VIII laugh.

0:05:50 > 0:05:51Now, that's epic!

0:05:51 > 0:05:53Think you don't need to know

0:05:53 > 0:05:55how to make people at the royal court piddle themselves laughing?

0:05:55 > 0:05:58Well, then, picture the scene.

0:05:59 > 0:06:03You're in your medieval village when there's a royal visit.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06You're trying to get a good view of the king and jump up to see better,

0:06:06 > 0:06:09but jump too high, bang your head

0:06:09 > 0:06:12and roll out in front of His Royal Highness.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16He thinks it's hilarious and wants you to be his new jester.

0:06:16 > 0:06:20You need some jester skills - and fast!

0:06:20 > 0:06:21Well, lucky for you,

0:06:21 > 0:06:24we've got top actor and history-lover Stephen Graham

0:06:24 > 0:06:28to tell you what you need to know to make a medieval king laugh.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30Good luck with that!

0:06:30 > 0:06:32Congratulations!

0:06:32 > 0:06:35You've been appointed as a court jester.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38- But you want to be epic.- Of course.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41The good news is that court jesters were paid really well

0:06:41 > 0:06:43and would be dressed in the same finery

0:06:43 > 0:06:45as other members of the king's court.

0:06:45 > 0:06:48- Awesome! Very snappy.- Whoo-hoo!

0:06:48 > 0:06:50But this wasn't always the case.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53Some jesters wore coats of different colours.

0:06:53 > 0:06:56Others had trousers which had one leg a different colour than the other.

0:06:56 > 0:06:59Basically, you look ridiculous. Anything else?

0:06:59 > 0:07:02Ah, a hat, of course!

0:07:02 > 0:07:07Now, once you were all jestered up, you had to perfect your act.

0:07:07 > 0:07:12Popular choices were singing, dancing and juggling.

0:07:12 > 0:07:17The real key to being a great jester

0:07:17 > 0:07:20was the art of the insult.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24You could call the king fat,

0:07:24 > 0:07:26ugly, bald.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30Anything you wanted.

0:07:33 > 0:07:35If you were too rude

0:07:35 > 0:07:38or, even worse, not rude enough,

0:07:38 > 0:07:42then you could be beaten or whipped.

0:07:42 > 0:07:45But the worst punishment of all

0:07:45 > 0:07:47was to be sacked

0:07:47 > 0:07:49and expelled from the kingdom forever!

0:07:49 > 0:07:52X Factor-style, I like it!

0:07:54 > 0:07:57But even then, it wasn't all that bad.

0:07:57 > 0:08:00The lucky ones were given money and land

0:08:00 > 0:08:03and lived happily ever after.

0:08:03 > 0:08:05Oh, I do like a happy ending.

0:08:07 > 0:08:10And that is how you become

0:08:10 > 0:08:13a court jester!

0:08:13 > 0:08:15Thank you, Stephen.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19From something epically old-school to something you can wow

0:08:19 > 0:08:21your teachers with at school.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23It's maths and it's epic.

0:08:23 > 0:08:26Don't believe me? Well...

0:08:26 > 0:08:27Maths...

0:08:27 > 0:08:30is... epic!

0:08:30 > 0:08:34Wow. Is it really? Go on, prove it.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37Hi, I'm Rachel Riley and I'm going to teach you how to be

0:08:37 > 0:08:39epic at your 11 times tables.

0:08:39 > 0:08:41Erm...yay?

0:08:41 > 0:08:43Everybody knows that 1 x 11 = 11.

0:08:43 > 0:08:462 x 11 = 22, 3 x 11 = 33, and so on,

0:08:46 > 0:08:49but how about 54 x 11?

0:08:49 > 0:08:51Easy. 469.

0:08:51 > 0:08:53- 594.- Oh...

0:08:53 > 0:08:57I'm going to teach you how to work out your 11 times tables

0:08:57 > 0:09:01all the way up to 99 x 11 without even hurting your brain

0:09:01 > 0:09:05- and, with a little bit of practice, all in your head.- Erm...yay?

0:09:05 > 0:09:09To multiply a two-digit number by 11, for example, 54,

0:09:09 > 0:09:13first split apart the five and the four with a gap in the middle.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16Next, add its digits together, so for this example,

0:09:16 > 0:09:175 + 4, which equals nine.

0:09:17 > 0:09:18I knew that.

0:09:18 > 0:09:22Now put this number in the gap, so we have 5-9-4

0:09:22 > 0:09:25and that's your answer. 594.

0:09:25 > 0:09:27I was just about to say that.

0:09:27 > 0:09:31But does this work for all two-digit numbers? Let's try 75 x 11.

0:09:31 > 0:09:32Yes, let's.

0:09:32 > 0:09:35Just like the last time,

0:09:35 > 0:09:37first split the 7 and the 5 with a gap in the middle.

0:09:37 > 0:09:42Next, add its digits together, so in this case, 7 + 5...

0:09:42 > 0:09:44- 14... - ..which makes 12.- Oh.

0:09:44 > 0:09:49Now, put this number in the gap, so you have 7-12-5.

0:09:49 > 0:09:50My brain hurts.

0:09:50 > 0:09:54So, is 75 x 11 7,125?

0:09:54 > 0:09:57- Yes, it is.- No, it isn't.- Ohhh!

0:09:57 > 0:10:00If the digits add to ten or greater, you have to carry

0:10:00 > 0:10:05the one over into the next column, so you end up with 8-2-5.

0:10:05 > 0:10:07And there's your answer. 825.

0:10:07 > 0:10:09I'll take your word for it, Riley.

0:10:09 > 0:10:13And that's how to epic at your 11 times tables.

0:10:13 > 0:10:14Genius. Thanks, Rachel.

0:10:16 > 0:10:20From the Queen of All Things Maths to the King of Everything Uselessly

0:10:20 > 0:10:24Brilliant, especially fruit. He's really brilliant with fruit.

0:10:24 > 0:10:28He's the Prince of Pointlessness, the Emperor of the Absurd,

0:10:28 > 0:10:30the Saint of Silliness...

0:10:30 > 0:10:34He's Max Byrne and he's always got a trick that's totally useless,

0:10:34 > 0:10:35- but brilliant.- Phaaa!

0:10:35 > 0:10:38For this one, you are going to need an apple.

0:10:38 > 0:10:41Hello-ahh! My name is Max Byrne. Sssss...

0:10:41 > 0:10:43And I am going to show you how to snap

0:10:43 > 0:10:48an apple in half with your bare hands. Now, I only have human ones,

0:10:48 > 0:10:52- so I guess I'm going to use them. - Sounds really cool, but why?

0:10:52 > 0:10:56Just imagine someone shouts at you, "How strong are ya?"

0:10:56 > 0:10:58It's your mother with friends.

0:10:58 > 0:11:02I can snap an apple in half with my bare hands.

0:11:02 > 0:11:04Sold. Show me how.

0:11:04 > 0:11:05First, you need an apple.

0:11:05 > 0:11:09What you're going to do is remove the stalk. She loves me,

0:11:09 > 0:11:12she loves me not. Make that hole point outwards, away from you.

0:11:12 > 0:11:14Now press upwards with your bottom fingers

0:11:14 > 0:11:17and then press down and out with your thumbs.

0:11:20 > 0:11:22Wow! Epic!

0:11:25 > 0:11:29And that's how you snap an apple in half with your bare hands.

0:11:29 > 0:11:31I found that very A-PEEL-ING...

0:11:32 > 0:11:37- Get out of here.- Thanks, Max. Cracking stuff from our Max.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40He's epic. But does he know how to knit? Nope.

0:11:40 > 0:11:44If he did, he would definitely want to do it like this.

0:11:44 > 0:11:47Think knitting is all old ladies making naff jumpers for you

0:11:47 > 0:11:50to wear at Christmas? Well, move over, Grandma.

0:11:50 > 0:11:54Welcome to the epic world of speed knitting. Yeah. It rocks.

0:11:54 > 0:11:58Want to know more? Here's an expert speed knitterer to show you how.

0:11:58 > 0:12:03Hi, I'm Susie and I'm going to show you how to be epic at speed knitting.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05Yeah! That's fast.

0:12:05 > 0:12:08The first step to speed knitting is to learn how to knit.

0:12:08 > 0:12:11Got my needles, got my yarn, let's knit!

0:12:11 > 0:12:14- Tie a slipknot...- SLIPKNOT!- ..and place it over the needle

0:12:14 > 0:12:18that you're going to hold in your left hand. This is your first stitch.

0:12:18 > 0:12:20Pros call this casting on.

0:12:20 > 0:12:22Take the needle in our right hand

0:12:22 > 0:12:25and we push it through the stitch that is on the left needle.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28You then wrap the yarn around the needle in your right hand,

0:12:28 > 0:12:31take it under the first stitch, pull it through

0:12:31 > 0:12:34and then place that loop on the left needle.

0:12:34 > 0:12:38- You've now made stitch number two. - Rewind!

0:12:38 > 0:12:41So, slot your right needle through your first stitch,

0:12:41 > 0:12:44loop your yarn around the right needle and poke it through the loop

0:12:44 > 0:12:47on the left needle. Then, put your left needle through the new loop

0:12:47 > 0:12:50you've got on your right needle. Confused? Don't worry.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52You'll get there. Keep casting on

0:12:52 > 0:12:54until you have got a row of stitches. Next stage!

0:12:54 > 0:12:59Now you've cast on, you are ready to knit. This is the knit stitch.

0:12:59 > 0:13:01You take your needle in your right hand.

0:13:01 > 0:13:05Push the point into the first stitch as you've done before with

0:13:05 > 0:13:09casting on, wrap the yarn around, making a loop on the right needle,

0:13:09 > 0:13:12pull the loop through underneath the needle on the left hand

0:13:12 > 0:13:16and this time, you want to pull off the stitch on the left needle.

0:13:16 > 0:13:18So, it's the same as casting on,

0:13:18 > 0:13:21but you're sliding your stitch off the needle.

0:13:21 > 0:13:24You want to repeat this then for the rest of your stitches, so you

0:13:24 > 0:13:27put your needle through, wrap it around,

0:13:27 > 0:13:30bring it under and pull it off.
