0:00:14 > 0:00:18We've got an amazing line-up of experts, hotshots and

0:00:18 > 0:00:23all round dudes with the low-down on how you can do what they can do.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26In just 15 minutes, you'll be able to master a football flick...

0:00:26 > 0:00:29..ride a dressage routine...

0:00:29 > 0:00:31..crochet a bracelet...

0:00:31 > 0:00:32..whistle...

0:00:32 > 0:00:34..do a pool trick...

0:00:34 > 0:00:38..and this kid will show you how to live in the Wild West.

0:00:38 > 0:00:39But before all that,

0:00:39 > 0:00:43it's time to load up the playlist of epicness and hit shuffle.

0:00:43 > 0:00:44The first one on is break dance.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Love dancing but think there's not to enough spinning on your back?

0:00:50 > 0:00:52Well, break dancing is for you.

0:00:52 > 0:00:56We've got the coolest b-girl in town to show you how it's done.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Hi, I'm Roxy, and I'm going to show you how to do a backspin.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Let's do this, Roxy.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03First things first, make sure you've got a smooth floor.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06And you might want to wear a slippery jacket.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09Yes, smooth and slippery does it.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12You're going to start on the floor with your legs split like this.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Next, you kick your bent leg in a circular motion,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16and at the same time, you're going to lean back.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20OK.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22You want to make sure you're very high on your back,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25in between your shoulder blades.

0:01:25 > 0:01:26Got it!

0:01:27 > 0:01:29Keep practising that move

0:01:29 > 0:01:31until you can get enough speed to get a little spin.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34So lie on your side and kick your leg all the way round

0:01:34 > 0:01:35to get spinning.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38The last thing you need to learn is the tuck.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41So once you're on your back and you've done about half a spin,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43you're going to pull your knees into your chest

0:01:43 > 0:01:46and have your feet up to the ceiling.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48Whoa!

0:01:48 > 0:01:50So to backspin, kick your leg around,

0:01:50 > 0:01:54roll onto your shoulders, and tuck in your legs to spin like a record.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58After lots of practice, if you want to go faster, you need to kick

0:01:58 > 0:02:02your leg harder and push off with your right hand as you lean into it.

0:02:04 > 0:02:08You might get a bit dizzy, but it's as epic as it gets.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11- And that's how you do a backspin. - Thanks, Roxy!

0:02:12 > 0:02:15So hopefully all that dancing has got you warmed up, because we're

0:02:15 > 0:02:19heading out on the football pitch to get tricky with a flicky.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Hi, I'm Frankie, and I'm going to show you how to do a trick

0:02:23 > 0:02:26called the advanced rainbow flick.

0:02:26 > 0:02:27Advanced rainbow flick, eh?

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Whoa! How do you do that, Frankie?

0:02:30 > 0:02:34First, drag the ball towards you with your stronger foot.

0:02:34 > 0:02:38Next, flick the ball up with the inside of your standing foot.

0:02:38 > 0:02:39Cool!

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Then, turn your body and use the heel of your stronger foot

0:02:42 > 0:02:44to kick the ball over your opponent.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46Epic!

0:02:46 > 0:02:47But...

0:02:47 > 0:02:49..let's take another look.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52Drag the ball towards you and roll it up your standing foot.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54Once it's in the air,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57kick it with your heel over your opponent's head.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00My top tip is to lean forward while you're kicking the ball,

0:03:00 > 0:03:02so the ball travels in the direction you're running,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04instead of straight up in the air.

0:03:04 > 0:03:08Collect the ball on the other side, and your opponent will be long gone.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12- And that's how to do an advanced rainbow flick.- Advanced epicness!

0:03:14 > 0:03:16From football, we move on.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19And it's time to get making some crafty, crocheted creations.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25Hi, I'm Emma, I'm going to show you how to crochet an epic bracelet.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26What-chet?

0:03:26 > 0:03:29Crochet is a type of knitting that uses one hook

0:03:29 > 0:03:32- instead of two needles. - I never knew that.

0:03:32 > 0:03:36To get started, you need a crochet hook and a ball of wool.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39- Whatever colour you like. - And that's my favourite colour!

0:03:39 > 0:03:42Firstly, you'll need to make a slipknot.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45Grab your wool, wrap it around your finger twice.

0:03:45 > 0:03:48Take the back loop over the front loop,

0:03:48 > 0:03:52then take the next back loop over the front loop.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55And pull up. And you've got a slipknot.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57With you so far, but what about that hook?

0:03:57 > 0:04:02Next, put your knot onto your crochet hook and pull it tight.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06Then, using it your index finger, pull the yarn up

0:04:06 > 0:04:08so you can grab it with your crochet hook.

0:04:08 > 0:04:12Whilst holding on to the knot, grab the yarn, turn your hook

0:04:12 > 0:04:15and pull the yarn through the loop.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18Grab the yarn, pull it through the loop.

0:04:18 > 0:04:21This is called a crochet chain.

0:04:21 > 0:04:26Keep doing this until the bracelet is the length that you prefer.

0:04:26 > 0:04:28Mine's reached a metre. What do I do now?

0:04:28 > 0:04:32Grab some scissors and cut your wool.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36And simply pull the crochet hook up to pull your end through,

0:04:36 > 0:04:39and you've got your chain with two ends.

0:04:39 > 0:04:42Tie your two ends in a bow.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47- And you've got an epic bracelet. - Oh, looking good!

0:04:47 > 0:04:49Once you've mastered making a chain, you can

0:04:49 > 0:04:52crochet with pretty much anything.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55Here's a bracelet I've made out of ribbon.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58And you can even crochet with tinsel.

0:04:58 > 0:05:02And that's how to make an epic, crocheted bracelet.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04Thanks, Emma!

0:05:04 > 0:05:07We're nearly halfway through our big book of epicness,

0:05:07 > 0:05:10but the story's far from over. WHISTLE!

0:05:10 > 0:05:13You'll learn how to whistle like that...

0:05:13 > 0:05:14..ride like that...

0:05:14 > 0:05:16..and pot a ball like that.

0:05:16 > 0:05:19But first, ever fancied living in the Wild West?

0:05:19 > 0:05:21Well, this kid is here to show you how.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27The old cowboys and girls were epic.

0:05:27 > 0:05:32You got to wear a cool hat, ride a horse and camp out under the stars.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34But it was also very tough life.

0:05:35 > 0:05:37So what did it take to survive in the old west?

0:05:39 > 0:05:43Well, we've got brilliant brainbox, Joe Tracini,

0:05:43 > 0:05:44to show you how to do it.

0:05:44 > 0:05:46The original cowboys and girls

0:05:46 > 0:05:50lived in the USA over 100 years ago.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52Back then, the American government would give away the land

0:05:52 > 0:05:55to anyone that would stay for five years to farm it.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57Sweet!

0:05:57 > 0:05:58Got me a house!

0:06:01 > 0:06:03But life was tough.

0:06:03 > 0:06:04There were no shops to buy food,

0:06:04 > 0:06:07no running water, no electricity.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09And your nearest neighbour could live 100 miles away.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12It was just you and your animals.

0:06:12 > 0:06:13Hey, guys!

0:06:13 > 0:06:14Aw...

0:06:14 > 0:06:18To be a real cowboy, you had to move thousands of cows

0:06:18 > 0:06:22up to 1,000 miles to be loaded onto trains and taken to the big cities.

0:06:22 > 0:06:26Yee...aargh!

0:06:26 > 0:06:28To drive the cattle, you had to dress correctly.

0:06:28 > 0:06:32Cowboy hats were large to protect the face from the sun,

0:06:32 > 0:06:34used as a cup to scoop up water,

0:06:34 > 0:06:36even used as your pillow at night.

0:06:39 > 0:06:41Cowboy boots were high sided to stop snakebites.

0:06:42 > 0:06:46And had large heels to dig into the stirrups for riding.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49OK, hat and boots essential.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52You may go days without eating or drinking much.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54And you often have to sleep outside,

0:06:54 > 0:06:56where you had to contend with wolves.

0:06:58 > 0:07:02You'd be spending months moving cows a mere 15 miles a day.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04Any faster and the cows would be too skinny to sell

0:07:04 > 0:07:06when you got to the rail towns.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08Easy does it.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11Once at the end of the epic cattle drive, having loaded

0:07:11 > 0:07:15the cattle onto the railroad, it's time to have a party in the town!

0:07:15 > 0:07:16Whoo! Yeah!

0:07:16 > 0:07:17But...

0:07:17 > 0:07:21But the rail towns were full of very dangerous people who

0:07:21 > 0:07:24wanted to take away your hard-earned cash in any way possible.

0:07:24 > 0:07:27Give us your money and get out!

0:07:27 > 0:07:30The key was to keep as much money to survive the winter...

0:07:30 > 0:07:32Howdy!

0:07:32 > 0:07:35..before driving another load of cattle the next year.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38- And that's how you become an epic cowboy. Yeehaw!- Or girl.

0:07:38 > 0:07:40Thanks, Joe!

0:07:41 > 0:07:44From herding with horses to dancing with them.

0:07:44 > 0:07:48It's time for the coolest of all the Olympic sports.

0:07:48 > 0:07:51Hello, I'm Sophie.

0:07:51 > 0:07:55And I'm going to tell you how to be epic at dressage.

0:07:56 > 0:08:00I mean, who doesn't love a horse? Where do we start, Sophs?

0:08:00 > 0:08:06So to get started, my horse, Rio, needs to get ready.

0:08:06 > 0:08:10In dressage, horses - like Rio - have to look their best.

0:08:10 > 0:08:13So it's time for a spot of grooming and to fit the saddle and reins.

0:08:13 > 0:08:14Looking good!

0:08:14 > 0:08:16What's next?

0:08:16 > 0:08:21So it's not just the horse that needs to look good,

0:08:21 > 0:08:23it's also the rider.

0:08:23 > 0:08:27And when we compete, we get all dressed up

0:08:27 > 0:08:29with a jacket,

0:08:29 > 0:08:32white jodhpurs and a tie.

0:08:32 > 0:08:34Horse and rider are looking sharp.

0:08:34 > 0:08:36Just got to keep those whites clean now.

0:08:36 > 0:08:38How do you actually ride a horse?

0:08:38 > 0:08:42So in order to make the horse go,

0:08:42 > 0:08:46you squeeze gently with your feet.

0:08:46 > 0:08:49A bit of pressure from your feet and you're off.

0:08:49 > 0:08:56To make them stop, you sit up straight and squeeze on the reins.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00Straight back, reins squeezed, done.

0:09:00 > 0:09:01But how do you steer?

0:09:01 > 0:09:07A good tip is to really look where you're going, and that way,

0:09:07 > 0:09:13you turn your body, and the horse knows you want to turn.

0:09:13 > 0:09:15Twist your body, and the horse will follow. Nice.

0:09:15 > 0:09:17Can we do a routine now?

0:09:17 > 0:09:24With lots of experience, you can now put together a routine to music.

0:09:24 > 0:09:27Oh, brill! Let pick a banging tune.

0:09:27 > 0:09:29To fit the music,

0:09:29 > 0:09:35you have to make sure the beat matches your horse's hindlegs.

0:09:35 > 0:09:38So get a groove that your horse can get down to.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40One, two, three, four.

0:09:40 > 0:09:42Nice moves!

0:09:43 > 0:09:46And that's how to be epic at dressage!

0:09:48 > 0:09:51Thank you, Sophie. And thank you, Rio.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53Ugh, gross!

0:09:54 > 0:09:56If you want to upgrade your whistling to the max,

0:09:56 > 0:09:58then our next shrill skill should help.

0:09:58 > 0:10:01WHISTLE!

0:10:01 > 0:10:02Hi, I'm Rebecca,

0:10:02 > 0:10:06and I'm going to show you how to whistle with your fingers.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09All you need are your hands and your mouth.

0:10:09 > 0:10:11WHISTLE!

0:10:11 > 0:10:12Classic.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15First of all, cover your teeth with your lips

0:10:15 > 0:10:18so they're no longer visible, like this.

0:10:18 > 0:10:19OK...

0:10:19 > 0:10:21A little tip for you - the tighter you pull your lips

0:10:21 > 0:10:24onto your teeth, the louder the whistle will be.

0:10:24 > 0:10:26I didn't know that!

0:10:26 > 0:10:28LOUD WHISTLE! I see what you mean though.

0:10:28 > 0:10:31You're going to need your index and middle fingers,

0:10:31 > 0:10:35which you'll place into your mouth, up to the first joint.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37The tips of your fingers should be directed

0:10:37 > 0:10:39into the centre of your tongue.

0:10:39 > 0:10:41So make an A shape, just like this.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44Better wash those hands first!

0:10:44 > 0:10:48Draw your tongue back so it hovers behind your front teeth,

0:10:48 > 0:10:51and then use your fingers to hold it in position.

0:10:51 > 0:10:52I've got it...

0:10:52 > 0:10:55Now fill your lungs with air and blow as hard as you can.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58Remember, the air needs to come out of the gap you've

0:10:58 > 0:11:01made between your fingers. Here we go.

0:11:01 > 0:11:02WHISTLE!

0:11:02 > 0:11:03LOUDER WHISTLE!

0:11:03 > 0:11:05LOUDEST WHISTLE!

0:11:05 > 0:11:06That's some epic whistling!

0:11:06 > 0:11:08And don't worry if you don't get it first time,

0:11:08 > 0:11:12just try changing the position of your lips, tongue or fingers

0:11:12 > 0:11:14and practice, practice, practice.

0:11:15 > 0:11:16Oh, I will.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18WHISTLE!

0:11:18 > 0:11:21And that's how you do a whistle call.

0:11:21 > 0:11:22Go on, give us one more.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24WHISTLE!

0:11:24 > 0:11:25Thanks, Rebecca!

0:11:26 > 0:11:31We've reached the last entry in our encyclopaedia of everyday epicness.

0:11:31 > 0:11:34It's time to learn some perfect pool trick shots.

0:11:35 > 0:11:39Hi, I'm Adam and I'm going to show you some epic pool tricks

0:11:39 > 0:11:40to amaze your friends.

0:11:42 > 0:11:43Whoa!

0:11:43 > 0:11:44Show me!

0:11:44 > 0:11:47This first shot's really easy, but looks really cool.

0:11:47 > 0:11:49All you need are two balls and a triangle.

0:11:49 > 0:11:51So place the triangle like so,

0:11:51 > 0:11:54and then place the colour ball touching the back of the triangle.

0:11:54 > 0:11:57With the white ball here, just aim straight and shoot.

0:11:59 > 0:12:01Sharp shooting, Adam.

0:12:01 > 0:12:03Let's take it up a gear.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06Next is one of my favourites. It takes a little while to perfect,

0:12:06 > 0:12:08but once you get it down, it looks amazing.

0:12:08 > 0:12:11- It's called the walking shot. - Show us the secret, Adam.

0:12:11 > 0:12:14So place the white ball a triangle's width

0:12:14 > 0:12:16away from the middle pocket.

0:12:16 > 0:12:20Then take the colour ball and place it touching the white ball.

0:12:20 > 0:12:24A top tip here, give it a slight tap, keep it in place.

0:12:24 > 0:12:26Aim to the side of the opposite pocket.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28The colour ball will move over

0:12:28 > 0:12:30and the white ball will rebound and pocket the ball.

0:12:35 > 0:12:38Whoa! This guy's got the skills!

0:12:38 > 0:12:39Teach me another one!

0:12:39 > 0:12:42This last trick is called the railroad.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44Place two of the queues in the corner,

0:12:44 > 0:12:45aimed towards the middle pocket.

0:12:45 > 0:12:49Now take a third queue and wedge it in the corner pocket, forming a gap.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52Once the cues are set, take the colour ball, place it in front

0:12:52 > 0:12:55of the middle pocket and take the cue ball in front of the two cues.

0:12:55 > 0:12:57Aim just above the corner pocket.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00It'll rebound off three cushions and climb up onto the cue.

0:13:02 > 0:13:03He missed!

0:13:05 > 0:13:06Hang on...

0:13:06 > 0:13:09I take it back, he's the most epic man on the planet.

0:13:09 > 0:13:13When you'd mastered those tricks and you become a trick shot wizard,

0:13:13 > 0:13:15you'll be able to try something truly epic, like this.

0:13:22 > 0:13:24What on Earth...?

0:13:30 > 0:13:31Where's that going?

0:13:33 > 0:13:34Amazing.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39Wow!

0:13:39 > 0:13:41And that's how to do pool tricks.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43Adam, take a bow.

0:13:46 > 0:13:51Right, that brings us to the end of 15 minutes of total random epicness.

0:13:51 > 0:13:53You should now be able to do this...

0:13:53 > 0:13:54..that...
