0:22:14 > 0:22:18# What can you do? I can cook! #

0:22:20 > 0:22:22Let's get started.

0:22:22 > 0:22:27The first thing we need to do to make green parcel pie is grating.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30We're going to grate this, a courgette.

0:22:30 > 0:22:34We're going to grate it using a grater, that's it.

0:22:34 > 0:22:39The first thing to do is snap the courgette in half, like this.

0:22:39 > 0:22:41We hold it out in front of us and after three,

0:22:41 > 0:22:45we're all going to snap it like a big snapping crocodile.

0:22:45 > 0:22:49- OK? One, two, three.- Snap!

0:22:49 > 0:22:53Look at that, it looks like a crocodile's mouth. Snap, snap, snap.

0:22:53 > 0:22:58Now we need to put these pieces of courgette into the grater.

0:22:58 > 0:23:01So we put it in the top part like that.

0:23:01 > 0:23:05Then we put the lid on top of the grater

0:23:05 > 0:23:09and then push down on the top and turn the handle.

0:23:09 > 0:23:13Push down really hard, Teagan, on top.

0:23:13 > 0:23:17Make sure that Wilson can move it, that's it.

0:23:17 > 0:23:22- Good grating. - He's a top grater.

0:23:22 > 0:23:26Next use a fork and scrape out some of the bits in the middle.

0:23:26 > 0:23:30Great grating, everyone. Next you need this.

0:23:30 > 0:23:34An egg which I've already cracked for you in a bowl.

0:23:34 > 0:23:38Does anybody know where an egg like this might come from?

0:23:38 > 0:23:41- Chicken.- That's right.

0:23:41 > 0:23:43KATY CLUCKS

0:23:43 > 0:23:47Chicken! Who can pretend to be a chicken?

0:23:47 > 0:23:51THEY ALL CLUCK

0:23:51 > 0:23:55Right, let's get whisking, then. Whizz, whizz.

0:23:55 > 0:23:58Now it's going all mushy.

0:23:58 > 0:24:00Why don't you whisk at home?

0:24:00 > 0:24:06You can get your bowl and your fork and then whisk, whisk, whisk.

0:24:06 > 0:24:10- Wilson, what's happened to your egg? - It's turned yellow.

0:24:10 > 0:24:12OK, the next ingredient is this.

0:24:12 > 0:24:18This is a delicious soft cheese and it's got a secret ingredient in it.

0:24:18 > 0:24:21Does anybody know what these green bits are?

0:24:21 > 0:24:25- No.- They're chives, which come from the same family as onions.

0:24:25 > 0:24:28They've got a really strong taste.

0:24:28 > 0:24:33This is cheese and onion flavour, which is delicious in our pie.

0:24:33 > 0:24:38Let's take our soft cheese and our fork and scoop it into our egg.

0:24:38 > 0:24:40Ready? Scoop!

0:24:40 > 0:24:44Then we're going to use our fork to mix it all up.

0:24:44 > 0:24:46Let's go, team.

0:24:50 > 0:24:54When you've mixed everything up, we're going to add another cheese.

0:24:54 > 0:24:59- Who can go cheeeeese? - ALL: Cheeese!

0:24:59 > 0:25:03The next cheese is an Italian hard cheese

0:25:03 > 0:25:06which you might have had with pasta.

0:25:06 > 0:25:09It's got a really strong taste and smell.

0:25:09 > 0:25:14Let's sprinkle it in. Sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle.

0:25:14 > 0:25:18To take a pinch of pepper, we need help from our pinchy parrot.

0:25:18 > 0:25:21To make a pinchy parrot, you put your thumb down

0:25:21 > 0:25:26and your fingers on top and do a big squawk.

0:25:26 > 0:25:27KATY SQUAWKS

0:25:27 > 0:25:31THEY ALL SQUAWK

0:25:31 > 0:25:33My parrot's so hungry.

0:25:33 > 0:25:38The parrots are hungry so they need a pinch of black pepper.

0:25:38 > 0:25:40Sprinkle it into your bowl.

0:25:40 > 0:25:45Next we add the grated courgette into the lovely eggy cheesy mixture.

0:25:47 > 0:25:51Give everything a giant mix.

0:25:53 > 0:25:57Get all the courgette mixed in with the cheesy mixture.

0:25:57 > 0:26:00- Eggy cheese.- Put your fork down.

0:26:00 > 0:26:03Now we need to grease our loaf tins.

0:26:03 > 0:26:07I wonder what we're going to need to do that.

0:26:07 > 0:26:11What is next? Let us see if you can guess what it could be.

0:26:11 > 0:26:18So we've got some milk, some rapeseed oil and some pasta.

0:26:18 > 0:26:21What would you choose for green parcel pie?

0:26:21 > 0:26:26I'll give you some clues and you can try and guess.

0:26:26 > 0:26:30The special ingredient is a liquid.

0:26:30 > 0:26:32Pasta is a solid, isn't it?

0:26:32 > 0:26:36We can take that away. Here's another clue.

0:26:36 > 0:26:41The special ingredient is a liquid and it comes from plants.

0:26:41 > 0:26:47Milk comes from cows, doesn't it? We can take that one away.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49That leaves us with rapeseed oil.

0:26:49 > 0:26:53We are going to need this in our green parcel pie.

0:26:53 > 0:26:55I drove to find some.

0:26:59 > 0:27:03I've come to a farm in Hargrave in Northamptonshire

0:27:03 > 0:27:06to find out how rapeseed oil is made.

0:27:06 > 0:27:10When the plants bloom, the flowers are bright yellow.

0:27:10 > 0:27:15When the sun cooks them, they turn into this lovely golden colour.

0:27:15 > 0:27:18The rapeseed plants that look like this

0:27:18 > 0:27:23are cut down by a big machine called a combine harvester.

0:27:23 > 0:27:28There it is now. I think I'm going to have a go.

0:27:36 > 0:27:39There we go, look.

0:27:39 > 0:27:43This machine collects all these little black seeds.

0:27:43 > 0:27:45That's where rapeseed oil comes from.

0:27:45 > 0:27:49The rapeseeds are put in this big machine

0:27:49 > 0:27:55which gently squeezes them until the oil comes out. Look.

0:27:55 > 0:27:58Once the oil has been filtered,

0:27:58 > 0:28:01it just needs to be poured into bottles.

0:28:01 > 0:28:07Fantastic. I can't wait to use this in our green parcel pie.

0:28:09 > 0:28:13Finding out how rapeseed oil is made is fascinating.

0:28:13 > 0:28:17We've got it here. What does the colour remind you of?

0:28:17 > 0:28:21- Shiny gold.- Yes! Shiny gold.

0:28:21 > 0:28:25We're going to use this rapeseed oil to grease our loaf tin.

0:28:25 > 0:28:30Why don't we practise brushing, painting a picture like an artist.

0:28:30 > 0:28:34Everyone go brush, brush, brush.

0:28:34 > 0:28:38- ALL: Brush, brush, brush. - Can you do some brushing with us?

0:28:38 > 0:28:43Get your brush and go, "Brush, brush, brush."

0:28:43 > 0:28:47Now dip the brush into the oil.

0:28:47 > 0:28:52Then brush it all over your loaf tin.

0:28:52 > 0:28:55We have to grease our tins so that our pie

0:28:55 > 0:28:57won't stick when it goes in the oven.

0:28:57 > 0:29:01Next we need to make the pie.

0:29:01 > 0:29:03For that we're going to use pastry.

0:29:03 > 0:29:08The type of pastry we're using is filo pastry.

0:29:08 > 0:29:11I've covered the pastry in a damp towel so it doesn't dry out.

0:29:11 > 0:29:14When the filo pastry goes in the oven,

0:29:14 > 0:29:17it's going to go so lovely and crispy.

0:29:17 > 0:29:22Let's take the damp towel away. Can you see it underneath?

0:29:22 > 0:29:26It's so white and fluffy.

0:29:26 > 0:29:29We're going to peel off one layer of filo pastry.

0:29:29 > 0:29:33And we're going to hold it like this,

0:29:33 > 0:29:38gently drop it into your loaf tin.

0:29:38 > 0:29:46Make sure all the edges lie on the outside of the loaf tin, like that.

0:29:46 > 0:29:50Then use our brush, dip it into the rapeseed oil

0:29:50 > 0:29:57and dab it all over your pastry in the tin, like golden raindrops.

0:29:57 > 0:29:59Get it right around the edges.

0:29:59 > 0:30:03They're the bits that go extra crispy when it's in the oven.

0:30:03 > 0:30:06Next we add another layer of filo pastry,

0:30:06 > 0:30:09like you're making a little bed.

0:30:09 > 0:30:11Then we need to dip and dab again.

0:30:11 > 0:30:17Then we need to put the very last bit in quickly before it dries out.

0:30:17 > 0:30:20We don't need to put any oil on this bit.

0:30:20 > 0:30:25The next thing we need to do is scoop the eggy, cheesy mixture

0:30:25 > 0:30:28into the pastry bed.

0:30:28 > 0:30:31- Get a spoon. Have we got a spoon? - ALL: Yes.

0:30:31 > 0:30:38Take your bowl and scoop the mixture up and splosh it into its bed.

0:30:38 > 0:30:42- Scoop and splosh. - Splosh, splosh, sploshy.

0:30:42 > 0:30:47Keep scooping until all your mixture is in the pastry bed.

0:30:47 > 0:30:50Last but not least, we have to tuck the mixture in.

0:30:50 > 0:30:55Very gently, take all the filo pastry from around the side

0:30:55 > 0:30:58and fold it over the top.

0:30:58 > 0:31:01Make it all spiky.

0:31:01 > 0:31:04We just need to dab one last bit of oil on top

0:31:04 > 0:31:07to make it extra crispy and shiny.

0:31:08 > 0:31:11Shine, shine, shine.

0:31:11 > 0:31:14And that is it.

0:31:14 > 0:31:19You've put all these ingredients together for your green parcel pie

0:31:19 > 0:31:21all by yourself.

0:31:21 > 0:31:25Now it's time to put them in the oven to cook.

0:31:25 > 0:31:30Remember, ovens are hot, so don't go near.

0:31:30 > 0:31:33Ask a grown-up to help you here.

0:31:35 > 0:31:38# Now we've cooked with you and had lots of fun

0:31:38 > 0:31:43# Let's tidy up and think of all the things that we have done

0:31:51 > 0:31:54# Is always fun to do at the end of the day. #

0:31:56 > 0:32:01Here they are, all cooked and ready to eat. Who's excited?

0:32:01 > 0:32:03ALL: Me!

0:32:03 > 0:32:06I'm so excited. Let's have a look at yours, Wilson.

0:32:06 > 0:32:08KATY GASPS
