0:22:29 > 0:22:32# What can you do? I can cook! #

0:22:34 > 0:22:37Let's get started on these Playtime Popovers.

0:22:37 > 0:22:40The first thing to do is make a batter.

0:22:40 > 0:22:43And to do that we need an egg and we've got an egg here.

0:22:43 > 0:22:47Eggs can come from a few different animals.

0:22:47 > 0:22:50But this one comes from a... Squawk! Squawk! Squawk!

0:22:50 > 0:22:52- A chicken!- A chicken.

0:22:52 > 0:22:56- Who can pretend to be a chicken? - SQUAWKING

0:22:56 > 0:23:01And we're going to crack our chicken's egg into this cup.

0:23:01 > 0:23:05Knock, knock, knock! Make a nice big crack.

0:23:05 > 0:23:06- Can you see?- Yes!

0:23:06 > 0:23:11Then we use our thumbs to open this up. Watch this!

0:23:11 > 0:23:13Open sesame! There's our egg. Look at that.

0:23:13 > 0:23:17That was a good one actually. We all did it!

0:23:17 > 0:23:19Everyone say yeah!

0:23:19 > 0:23:21Yeah!

0:23:21 > 0:23:24The next thing we need to do is some whisking.

0:23:24 > 0:23:28We'll whisk using our fork. You can do whisking at home too.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31Get your cup, like this and your fork, like that.

0:23:31 > 0:23:33And you go whisk, whisk, whisk!

0:23:33 > 0:23:35- Are you ready, team?- Yes!

0:23:35 > 0:23:38Hold the handle and let's get whisking!

0:23:41 > 0:23:43This is fun!

0:23:44 > 0:23:48And when you've whisked your egg up properly, it will look all gloopy.

0:23:48 > 0:23:54Look at this, see. Gloopy! That's just right.

0:23:54 > 0:23:59We need to splosh this egg into this bowl of flour

0:23:59 > 0:24:01we've got here. Ready, everybody?

0:24:01 > 0:24:08And splosh. Oh! Mine's made an eggy pond around a big flour mountain.

0:24:08 > 0:24:11We mix everything in this bowl up together.

0:24:11 > 0:24:14So give it a good mix.

0:24:14 > 0:24:17I'm mixing, I'm mixing.

0:24:17 > 0:24:19- I'm mixing.- Mine's all gooey.

0:24:19 > 0:24:22Get right round the edges, everyone.

0:24:24 > 0:24:27Next we're going to measure some milk.

0:24:27 > 0:24:32- Milk comes from cows, and what noise do cows make?- Moo!

0:24:32 > 0:24:37Let's play the measuring game. This is how you play.

0:24:37 > 0:24:42One person is the pourer, they pour the milk into this jug.

0:24:42 > 0:24:46The other person is going to be the watcher.

0:24:46 > 0:24:50They put their watcher goggles on like this.

0:24:50 > 0:24:53The watcher stays down low, with the jug,

0:24:53 > 0:24:58to make sure that the pourer fills it up to where the red marker is.

0:24:58 > 0:25:02If they've put in too much, tell them to pour a bit out.

0:25:02 > 0:25:06Tell him when to stop.

0:25:06 > 0:25:08Keep going...stop.

0:25:08 > 0:25:10Good job, David.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13More. More. More. More.

0:25:17 > 0:25:22- Stop.- Perfect. What a good team you are!

0:25:22 > 0:25:26Now we've got our milk, we pour it into our batter mix in the bowl,

0:25:26 > 0:25:28with a big splash.

0:25:28 > 0:25:29Splash!

0:25:29 > 0:25:33- Wow! Gosh!- That's a cool mix.

0:25:33 > 0:25:35OK, let's give it a quick mix.

0:25:35 > 0:25:40But we have to be very careful because the milk is very naughty.

0:25:40 > 0:25:42Sometimes it escapes out of the bowl.

0:25:42 > 0:25:45We're going to add some flavour next.

0:25:45 > 0:25:48Add wholegrain mustard.

0:25:48 > 0:25:51Can you see the little bits? Little mustard seeds.

0:25:51 > 0:25:56Now use your fork to scrape it into your batter. There we go.

0:25:56 > 0:26:00- Can you see the seeds swimming about?- Yep, mine's going swimming.

0:26:00 > 0:26:03They love having a good old swim.

0:26:03 > 0:26:07Keep mixing until we get a really silky smooth batter.

0:26:07 > 0:26:11That's our batter mix all finished.

0:26:11 > 0:26:14But I wonder what we need next in our Playtime Popovers?

0:26:14 > 0:26:19What's next? Let us see if you can guess what it could be.

0:26:25 > 0:26:30So, we've got some peas, some mushrooms,

0:26:30 > 0:26:33and a loaf of bread.

0:26:33 > 0:26:35What would you choose?

0:26:35 > 0:26:40The special ingredient can be white or brown.

0:26:40 > 0:26:43Peas are green, so it's not that one.

0:26:43 > 0:26:45Let's take that away. There we go.

0:26:45 > 0:26:47Here's another clue.

0:26:47 > 0:26:51So the special ingredient can be white or brown,

0:26:51 > 0:26:54and it's in the shape of a little umbrella.

0:26:54 > 0:26:58Well, a loaf of bread can be white or brown

0:26:58 > 0:27:00but it's not in the shape of an umbrella.

0:27:00 > 0:27:05Let's take that one away. Which leaves us with mushrooms.

0:27:05 > 0:27:10We need mushrooms for our Playtime Popovers. And I went to find some.

0:27:16 > 0:27:21I'm at a farm in Northamptonshire to find some mushrooms.

0:27:21 > 0:27:24So let's go on a mushroom hunt.

0:27:24 > 0:27:29Mushrooms grow from millions of little things called spores.

0:27:29 > 0:27:31The spores start growing

0:27:31 > 0:27:36and huddle together to make the head of the mushroom, the pin.

0:27:36 > 0:27:38We can see it just here.

0:27:39 > 0:27:47The mushrooms can grow from this to this in less than one week!

0:27:47 > 0:27:49How amazing is that?

0:27:49 > 0:27:51And you can pick them

0:27:51 > 0:27:56when they're small, medium and when they're giant, like this one!

0:27:56 > 0:28:01You just have to twist and pick.

0:28:01 > 0:28:04Now, you can't eat all mushrooms.

0:28:04 > 0:28:09So to be safe, only eat mushrooms you get from the shops.

0:28:09 > 0:28:10Give these a wipe

0:28:10 > 0:28:15and then they'll be great to use in our Playtime Popovers.

0:28:15 > 0:28:20Mushrooms are a really funny shape, aren't they? Look!

0:28:20 > 0:28:25Don't they look funny? Oh, who can do a mushroom face?

0:28:25 > 0:28:30Go like this, and go... Brilliant mushroom face!

0:28:30 > 0:28:35Let's play the break and flake game with our mushrooms.

0:28:35 > 0:28:39Play it by doing this, look. Break and flake,

0:28:39 > 0:28:42break and flake. Who can do that?

0:28:42 > 0:28:46- Me.- Off you go, then. Break and flake. And again.

0:28:46 > 0:28:51We're going to do the break and flake. The break and flake.

0:28:51 > 0:28:55Sprinkle a bit of mushroom into each muffin case

0:28:55 > 0:28:59which I've already oiled for you. So sprinkle!

0:29:01 > 0:29:04- Mushrooms are good for you. - Yes, they are.

0:29:04 > 0:29:09Next we're going to snip up some cooked bacon. Who likes bacon?

0:29:09 > 0:29:10Me!

0:29:10 > 0:29:14Now, if you don't like bacon or if you don't eat it,

0:29:14 > 0:29:18use something else, like spring onions or chives,

0:29:18 > 0:29:19that would taste nice too.

0:29:19 > 0:29:23We snip up our bacon using scissors, but remember,

0:29:23 > 0:29:25be safe with scissors.

0:29:25 > 0:29:30- Everybody knows that we need to point then down towards our..- Toes!

0:29:30 > 0:29:37One, two, three, let's get snipping! Snip, snip, snippity snip!

0:29:37 > 0:29:41Once you've finished, put your cooked bacon with your mushrooms.

0:29:41 > 0:29:46- Lovely jubbly.- Jubbly lovely.

0:29:49 > 0:29:51I don't have more bacon.

0:29:51 > 0:29:55Next add some colour, some red, chopped-up tomatoes.

0:29:55 > 0:29:59- Let's put some tomatoes into our cases.- One tomato for me.

0:29:59 > 0:30:05One tomato, two tomato. Like the little cherries on top of the cake.

0:30:05 > 0:30:09- I've got tomatoes on my cake! - These will be so tasty.

0:30:09 > 0:30:11- Has everyone done that?- Yeah.

0:30:11 > 0:30:15Pour the batter mix we made earlier on

0:30:15 > 0:30:17into our muffin cases

0:30:17 > 0:30:21and all of the ingredients will disappear. Are you ready? Go.

0:30:23 > 0:30:27When all of the ingredients have disappeared, you stop.

0:30:27 > 0:30:29That's it, that's enough.

0:30:29 > 0:30:32And then do the next one.

0:30:32 > 0:30:35- Stop!- Whoa!

0:30:35 > 0:30:38- Ooh!- Don't worry if any of the ingredients are sticking out

0:30:38 > 0:30:42because they go really crispy in the oven.

0:30:44 > 0:30:47- Mine's almost covered. - They look like cakes.

0:30:47 > 0:30:53- Let's make sure we get every last drip in.- This is my last drip in.

0:30:53 > 0:30:56And that is it, team, you've done it.

0:30:56 > 0:31:00You've put all the ingredients together by yourself.

0:31:00 > 0:31:04Now it's time to put them in the oven to cook.

0:31:05 > 0:31:09But remember, ovens are hot, so don't go near.

0:31:09 > 0:31:12Ask a grown-up to help you here.

0:31:13 > 0:31:16# Now we've cooked with you and had lots of fun

0:31:16 > 0:31:21# Let's tidy up and think of all the things we've done

0:31:21 > 0:31:25- # There was- whisking,- flipping - cracking,- and flaking

0:31:25 > 0:31:29# Now clearing any mess and putting things away

0:31:29 > 0:31:32# Is always fun to do at the end of the day. #

0:31:32 > 0:31:34OVEN PINGS

0:31:34 > 0:31:39Here's our food and it's all ready for us to have a look at.

0:31:39 > 0:31:44There's yours, Tiffany. Let's have a look at Harry's!

0:31:44 > 0:31:48- Oh, yeah. Nice, Harry! - What's happened to the tomato?

0:31:48 > 0:31:52- It's gone all crispy. - I've got an alien with one eye.

0:31:52 > 0:31:57Let's have a look at Tiffany's.

0:31:57 > 0:31:59They're soft.

0:31:59 > 0:32:02- What were they like before? - All gooey and wet.

0:32:02 > 0:32:04Look at this smiley face.

0:32:04 > 0:32:07Look at the eyes and nose and mouth.

0:32:07 > 0:32:10It looks like a muffin, too, and a mini-pizza.

0:32:10 > 0:32:14Let's put the lids on, and save this for later.

0:32:14 > 0:32:18We've travelled to you, we've cooked and had fun,

0:32:18 > 0:32:21- now let's have a party with everyone.- Yeah!

0:32:21 > 0:32:26Come on, team, let's go. And you can come with us.

0:32:26 > 0:32:32I can't wait to play basketball. But let's eat our food first.

0:32:32 > 0:32:35- We've done the break and flake? - How did you do that?

0:32:35 > 0:32:39Just take something, then squish it on your hands.

0:32:39 > 0:32:45- Wow, that's fantastic! It's really good.- Look what I made!- Wow!

0:32:45 > 0:32:50- That smells great. What is it? - Playtime Popover.

0:32:50 > 0:32:56Yummy, this piece for you. Mmm! Oh, it's got mushrooms in it.

0:32:59 > 0:33:03- You made it all by yourself?- Yes.

0:33:03 > 0:33:07They're delicious, they're really nice.

0:33:07 > 0:33:08It's nice.

0:33:08 > 0:33:13What other ingredients could we put in our Playtime Popovers?

0:33:13 > 0:33:18- Sausages. - Sausages would be delicious.- Yeah.

0:33:18 > 0:33:20- What would you put in it?- Beans.

0:33:20 > 0:33:23Baked beans? That would be nice on the side.

0:33:23 > 0:33:27- What will you cook next time? - A big cake.

0:33:27 > 0:33:30- What flavour will the cake be? - Strawberry.
