0:03:29 > 0:03:31LAUGHTER

0:03:33 > 0:03:34Let me give you some clues.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37The missing ingredient for our fresh-fruit flapjacks

0:03:37 > 0:03:40is made up of lots of tiny little pieces.

0:03:40 > 0:03:44So could it be...a sandcastle?

0:03:44 > 0:03:47You can't eat a sandcastle!

0:03:47 > 0:03:53Now, our missing ingredient is usually white.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55So, could it be...?

0:03:56 > 0:03:58No!

0:03:58 > 0:04:01We can't eat a snowman!

0:04:01 > 0:04:06Now, the missing ingredient is made up of lots of tiny pieces,

0:04:06 > 0:04:09is usually white, and one more clue for you,

0:04:09 > 0:04:11it's used to make bread.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14So, could it be...

0:04:15 > 0:04:18..flour? The missing ingredient is flour.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Did you work it out?

0:04:20 > 0:04:23We're going to need some flour in our fresh-fruit flapjacks.

0:04:23 > 0:04:28Now, we know what flour looks like, but how do you think it's made?

0:04:28 > 0:04:30Let's go and find out on our computer.

0:04:37 > 0:04:41Flour comes from wheat, which grows in fields.

0:04:41 > 0:04:46At harvest time, when the wheat has all dried out, a big machine

0:04:46 > 0:04:48called a combine harvester

0:04:48 > 0:04:52collects the wheat and takes out all the bits that are not needed.

0:04:52 > 0:04:57The useful bits that are left over are called grain.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00The grain gets taken to a mill, where it's cleaned.

0:05:01 > 0:05:06It's then crushed between big stones which spin round very quickly,

0:05:06 > 0:05:09so that it becomes flour.

0:05:09 > 0:05:15The flour is then collected ready to be packed up and sent to the shops.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17We've got some wholemeal flour here.

0:05:17 > 0:05:22- So, has everyone got their bowl of wholemeal flour?- Yes!

0:05:22 > 0:05:27To this, we'll add some lovely oats. So, pour in your oats... Wee!

0:05:29 > 0:05:32That's it. Next, we'll add some sugar.

0:05:32 > 0:05:36What do you think that will do to our flapjack? Make it really...

0:05:36 > 0:05:38- Sweet.- Sweet.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41So, pour that in.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45- That's it, Olivia. Brilliant. - It looks like

0:05:45 > 0:05:48a snowy mountain.

0:05:48 > 0:05:52A snow mountain...as we're building it up. It does a bit. Now, we add

0:05:52 > 0:05:57some soft butter. Push it in with your fingers.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00Who can guess what we're going to do next?

0:06:00 > 0:06:03- Tickling!- Tickling!

0:06:03 > 0:06:08Do you like tickling at home? Let's get our tickling fingers out. Ready?

0:06:25 > 0:06:28- Who's ticklish?- Me!- Me!

0:06:28 > 0:06:31GIGGLING

0:06:31 > 0:06:34We need to make all of our butter completely disappear.

0:06:36 > 0:06:40Keep tickling, everyone. Roman, that's fantastic!

0:06:40 > 0:06:44You're an expert tickler. The butter's already gone.

0:06:48 > 0:06:52And now, we're going to take a loaf tin, like this. Now,

0:06:52 > 0:06:55- who likes finger-painting?- Me!- Me! - You do?

0:06:55 > 0:07:00We're doing finger-painting with a chunk of butter. We need to paint

0:07:00 > 0:07:04all four sides of the tin with our butter, and the bottom.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07Make sure it's all covered.

0:07:09 > 0:07:13This will stop our flapjack from sticking to the tin

0:07:13 > 0:07:15when we put it in the oven later on.

0:07:15 > 0:07:21- Girls, what's happening to your fingers?- Getting messy!

0:07:29 > 0:07:34- Yes.- Now, take some - but not all - of your oaty mixture and put it

0:07:34 > 0:07:39in your loaf tin. You can pick it up with your hands, or use your spoon.

0:07:39 > 0:07:44- I've used my spoon.- Sprinkle in about half of your crumbly mixture.

0:07:44 > 0:07:46It's a bit like sand, isn't it?

0:07:48 > 0:07:53That's it, Olivia, fantastic! That's really good. And now, we'll press it

0:07:53 > 0:07:57into the bottom of our tin. So your oats don't look a mess,

0:07:57 > 0:08:03use your knuckles and press, press, press. Let's get pressing, everyone!

0:08:03 > 0:08:06We want to make it nice and hard.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37Use your fingers. Pick them up

0:08:37 > 0:08:39and just put them on top.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43It's a bit like making a sandwich.

0:08:43 > 0:08:46Like a strawberry sandwich.

0:09:46 > 0:09:49We need to give it a little

0:09:49 > 0:09:52pitter-patter on top, to make it nice and flat.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54I'm doing it with a spoon.

0:09:55 > 0:09:57I'm doing it with my hands.

0:09:57 > 0:10:01Really gently, Roman. Not with your knuckles, with your fingertips.

0:10:01 > 0:10:03Go...pitter-patter, pancake.
