0:00:14 > 0:00:16# I want my own room
0:00:16 > 0:00:18# I want
0:00:18 > 0:00:20# I want my own room
0:00:20 > 0:00:22# I want
0:00:22 > 0:00:24# I want my own room
0:00:24 > 0:00:25# I want
0:00:25 > 0:00:27# I want my own room #
0:00:31 > 0:00:34This is the show that puts you centre stage
0:00:34 > 0:00:37when it comes to designing your own room.
0:00:37 > 0:00:40Does your lack of space leave you in a spin?
0:00:42 > 0:00:44Have you got no room to bust your moves?
0:00:47 > 0:00:52Then it's time to dance to a different beat with I Want My Own Room.
0:00:52 > 0:00:56It's time to meet today's dancing designer.
0:00:56 > 0:01:01I'm Sophia, and I love to dance. But I've got no space to practise.
0:01:01 > 0:01:02I need my own room.
0:01:02 > 0:01:06Sophia needs more space to practise her dance moves,
0:01:06 > 0:01:10so we're going to convince her mum and dad to hand over the keys to their house.
0:01:10 > 0:01:14- Yes!- She'll be creating her room with a funky designer.
0:01:14 > 0:01:17- Are you happy with it? - Yeah, it's really good.
0:01:17 > 0:01:19Searching for ideas in fantastic places.
0:01:19 > 0:01:22- Have you ever seen anything like this on a window before?- No.
0:01:22 > 0:01:25And keeping Mum and Dad on their toes.
0:01:25 > 0:01:28Just put your whole body into it.
0:01:28 > 0:01:30But can the team create
0:01:30 > 0:01:33a dance studio Sophia will love in just four days?
0:01:33 > 0:01:36- The team are on it.- The team are sat around having a cup of tea.
0:01:40 > 0:01:4412-year-old Sophia is a dancing queen with a problem - nowhere to practise.
0:01:44 > 0:01:47Her bedroom is way too small for dancing,
0:01:47 > 0:01:49and using the lounge is out of the question.
0:01:49 > 0:01:52- Sophia! - We've been waiting for this all day.
0:01:52 > 0:01:55So she ends up practising her dance moves
0:01:55 > 0:01:58in her mum and dad's room and in the garden.
0:01:58 > 0:02:01And her dance costumes have taken over the entire house,
0:02:01 > 0:02:02which older brother Billy hates.
0:02:02 > 0:02:07- Sophia!- I'm on my way to help Sophia find room to throw some shapes.
0:02:11 > 0:02:16- Hello, Sophia. Can I come in? - Yeah, sure.- Thank you very much.
0:02:20 > 0:02:24Oh, Sophia! It's really squashed, isn't it?
0:02:24 > 0:02:26OK, so there's two beds. Which one's yours?
0:02:26 > 0:02:30- This one.- And this?- My sister's, Katie.- Your sister Katie sleeps here.
0:02:30 > 0:02:34- So are all yours and Katie's stuff all in this room?- Yeah.
0:02:34 > 0:02:39- Where do you keep the rest of your stuff?- Under here.- Oh, crikey.
0:02:39 > 0:02:42That's really packed in down there, isn't it?
0:02:42 > 0:02:46Those are my clothes under there, because we have no room for a wardrobe.
0:02:46 > 0:02:50Heavens above. Is there anything else you need from your space?
0:02:50 > 0:02:54- Just somewhere to chill out so I can just have my friends round.- Right.
0:02:54 > 0:02:59- Is there space anywhere else in the house we could have a look at? - The living room?
0:02:59 > 0:03:01Decent-sized living room.
0:03:01 > 0:03:04You have a minor problem that if you're watching television
0:03:04 > 0:03:07and you're dancing in the middle, very annoyed Mum and Dad
0:03:07 > 0:03:10- when you're in front of the television?- Yeah.
0:03:10 > 0:03:13- What other space have we got? - There's the garden.
0:03:13 > 0:03:17- Well, it's a decent sized garden, isn't it?- Yeah, it's pretty big.
0:03:17 > 0:03:20- What's this for?- My dad was going to make it into a dance space,
0:03:20 > 0:03:24but I couldn't really dance on it because it got really slippery.
0:03:24 > 0:03:27What would you say, Sophia, if I got the I Want My Own Room team
0:03:27 > 0:03:31to construct you a brilliant dance space out here in the garden?
0:03:31 > 0:03:34- That would be really good.- What do you think Mum and Dad would say?
0:03:34 > 0:03:38- Well, I think they will like it in the end.- We'll have to persuade them.
0:03:40 > 0:03:43So, Sophia has nowhere to practise her dancing.
0:03:43 > 0:03:48But I think we could create her very own dance studio in the back garden.
0:03:48 > 0:03:51But will her mum and dad hand over the keys to the house?
0:03:52 > 0:03:56Now, Mum and Dad, Sophia has shown me around the house, and you have to admit,
0:03:56 > 0:03:58she's hardly got any room for dancing.
0:03:58 > 0:04:01I mean, it's a really tight squeeze.
0:04:01 > 0:04:04What we've done is measured out the available floor space
0:04:04 > 0:04:06in Sophia and Katie's room,
0:04:06 > 0:04:09halved it because there's two of them and recreated it over there.
0:04:09 > 0:04:13And we'd like you to have a little dance in that space to see what it's like for Sophia.
0:04:13 > 0:04:18So, lead the way. Go on, in you go, Mum and Dad. Don't hold back.
0:04:18 > 0:04:22Have a look and decide which props and costumes you want to pop on.
0:04:22 > 0:04:25Have you ever seen either of your parents in a tutu before, Sophia?
0:04:25 > 0:04:28No! Well, maybe my dad.
0:04:29 > 0:04:33That is a look! Oh, Dad! Loving it.
0:04:33 > 0:04:35I'm just going to pop the tape across.
0:04:35 > 0:04:39So, that is the exact space that Sophia has to dance in her room.
0:04:39 > 0:04:42So, are you ready, Mum and Dad?
0:04:42 > 0:04:45Give us your best moves! Off you go!
0:04:45 > 0:04:48Are we going to get any breakdancing?
0:04:48 > 0:04:50- Think they're good movers?- No.
0:04:50 > 0:04:53It's a little bit tight.
0:04:53 > 0:04:57I think we might do some slow dancing in a bit.
0:04:58 > 0:05:03- Now can you understand the problem that Sophia has?- We can indeed.
0:05:03 > 0:05:05It's very frustrating.
0:05:05 > 0:05:08Dad, I think you should keep that wig and that headband.
0:05:08 > 0:05:11- I think you might not get it back. - He's so embarrassing!
0:05:13 > 0:05:17Mum and Dad, do you agree to let Sophia redesign
0:05:17 > 0:05:22your house and garden in any way she chooses to give her more space?
0:05:25 > 0:05:29- Let's just go for it.- Let's go for it.- You know you've got to do it.
0:05:29 > 0:05:31Yes!
0:05:31 > 0:05:34Sophia now has control of her house and garden.
0:05:34 > 0:05:37So, Mum and Dad are answering to her. But it's not for ever.
0:05:37 > 0:05:41She has just four days before she has to hand back those house keys.
0:05:43 > 0:05:46Helping Sophia create her unique practice space
0:05:46 > 0:05:49is I Want My Own Room designer Michelle Ackerley.
0:05:49 > 0:05:52Michelle will need all her skills
0:05:52 > 0:05:56if she is to turn Sophia's weed-filled garden into a dream dance studio.
0:05:56 > 0:06:00What can you imagine in the dancing space? What is going to be important to you in there?
0:06:00 > 0:06:03A ballet barre, and a big mirror on the wall.
0:06:03 > 0:06:07And a little mirror to put make-up on.
0:06:07 > 0:06:10- And have you had a thought about colours?- I love baby pink.
0:06:10 > 0:06:12- Like your jumper?- Yeah!
0:06:12 > 0:06:17Sophia has loads of ideas, but to help her imagine how the room might work,
0:06:17 > 0:06:20they mark out the space using some white sticks.
0:06:20 > 0:06:25- Where can you imagine your chill-out area to be in this space?- This side.
0:06:25 > 0:06:29They use some of Sophia's stuff to represent the different areas of the room.
0:06:29 > 0:06:34- What about your ballet barre? Where do you want that to go?- There.
0:06:34 > 0:06:38And as the stuff goes into the space, the room is taking shape.
0:06:38 > 0:06:42- Are you happy with it? - Yeah, it's really good.
0:06:42 > 0:06:45Sophia has got her design off on the right foot,
0:06:45 > 0:06:48but she needs even bigger ideas for her studio.
0:06:48 > 0:06:52So Michelle is taking her to one of the country's top ballet companies.
0:06:52 > 0:06:55Now, this building is less than a year old,
0:06:55 > 0:06:58so it is state-of-the-art. What do you think?
0:06:58 > 0:07:00It's really big and modern and cool.
0:07:00 > 0:07:04- What you think of going to see one of the studios to get some ideas?- Yeah!
0:07:08 > 0:07:10After you.
0:07:13 > 0:07:18This is the biggest indoor rehearsal space in Europe.
0:07:18 > 0:07:21The rehearsal room isn't just a bare empty room.
0:07:21 > 0:07:24It has some unique design touches.
0:07:24 > 0:07:26- What do you think of this? - It's cool.
0:07:26 > 0:07:29- Have you ever seen anything like this on a window before?- No.
0:07:29 > 0:07:33- What do you notice about these ones?- They move.
0:07:33 > 0:07:36They move, so if you stand in a certain spot,
0:07:36 > 0:07:40she is kind of like horizontal, and then she moves back.
0:07:40 > 0:07:45- That's so clever, isn't it? - Yeah, every way you see it, you see something different.
0:07:45 > 0:07:49Michelle wants to show Sophia another design feature
0:07:49 > 0:07:51that might be worth reflecting on.
0:07:51 > 0:07:55When the ballerinas are practising, they keep the curtains closed
0:07:55 > 0:07:59so they can concentrate on their form and not staring at themselves.
0:07:59 > 0:08:00Once they've got all the moves,
0:08:00 > 0:08:04they'll open the curtains and see what their expressions are like.
0:08:04 > 0:08:07All you have to do is pull this curtain across,
0:08:07 > 0:08:10and you've got your fantastic mirror behind it.
0:08:10 > 0:08:14How would you feel having curtains and mirrors like this in your space?
0:08:14 > 0:08:17It would be good, because I could see what I'm doing, and when I don't want to,
0:08:17 > 0:08:20I can pull it across and work on my feet.
0:08:20 > 0:08:24The design trip has already given Sophia lots to think about,
0:08:24 > 0:08:28and to get some expert info, they've found technical director Andy.
0:08:30 > 0:08:33So, Andy, what sort of advice could you give me for my dance studio?
0:08:33 > 0:08:36The most important thing other than the ballet barres is the floor.
0:08:36 > 0:08:40What you need is a sprung floor, so when you jump up and down,
0:08:40 > 0:08:43it doesn't hurt your knees and hurt your ankles.
0:08:43 > 0:08:47And natural light coming through the windows. It's great to dance in natural light.
0:08:47 > 0:08:50After seeing the ballet company's rehearsal rooms,
0:08:50 > 0:08:54Michelle has a clearer idea of the challenge facing her.
0:08:54 > 0:08:56The thing about the room I'm dealing with is
0:08:56 > 0:08:59it's not just going to be a dance space.
0:08:59 > 0:09:03It's going to be an area to chill out in. And to display her costumes.
0:09:03 > 0:09:07So to get some storage tips, it's off to the wardrobe department.
0:09:07 > 0:09:10These costumes just look so amazing, don't they?
0:09:10 > 0:09:13It's colourful, it's eye-catching,
0:09:13 > 0:09:16and it would be lovely to kind of replicate this in some way
0:09:16 > 0:09:20in your room. Take a look in here.
0:09:20 > 0:09:25Oh, yeah. Cos I've got more than one pair of ballet shoes or tap shoes,
0:09:25 > 0:09:30I can pop them in different slots, so whenever I need to, I just pull them out.
0:09:30 > 0:09:33Coming to the dance studio has been really useful,
0:09:33 > 0:09:37because it's where other professional dancers come and work,
0:09:37 > 0:09:41so then I know what they do, and what I can do to make it better in mine.
0:09:41 > 0:09:44While Michelle thinks about the finer details of the design,
0:09:44 > 0:09:47Sophia is hop-skipping back to the house
0:09:47 > 0:09:50to kick off work on her dream dance space.
0:09:50 > 0:09:53Come on, everybody, let's get my dance studio started.
0:09:53 > 0:09:58But there's just one tiny hurdle - a very messy garden.
0:09:58 > 0:10:02Well, Sophia, you're the boss now, so take it away.
0:10:02 > 0:10:06Mum and Dad, we really need to start clearing this garden,
0:10:06 > 0:10:08so put these on and get to work.
0:10:11 > 0:10:13Three, two, one, go!
0:10:13 > 0:10:17- To you, to me.- Put your back into it, come on!- To me, to you.
0:10:17 > 0:10:19Dad's getting into the swing of things,
0:10:19 > 0:10:24but Mum is getting bogged down worrying about wildlife in the garden.
0:10:24 > 0:10:27- I worry about the frog community. - What are you chatting about?
0:10:27 > 0:10:30- The frogs.- Don't talk about the frogs, just clear.
0:10:30 > 0:10:34- We worry about the frogs.- I don't care about the frogs.- Save the frogs!
0:10:34 > 0:10:37Is there a doctor in the house?
0:10:40 > 0:10:42Tell me you don't care about squirrels.
0:10:42 > 0:10:45- No.- That's nuts.- You're nuts.
0:10:45 > 0:10:48What are you doing?
0:10:48 > 0:10:50I'm changing my brand-new trainers
0:10:50 > 0:10:53because I don't want to get them ruined.
0:10:53 > 0:10:57- Look how white they are. - You're such a wimp.- Charming!
0:10:57 > 0:10:58Good work, Dad.
0:10:58 > 0:11:04Well, my dad's doing really good, but my mum's scared of all the frogs that might jump out on her.
0:11:04 > 0:11:08I'm a dance mum, and I do sequins and I do costumes.
0:11:08 > 0:11:12And I do pretty hair and make-up. This really isn't me.
0:11:12 > 0:11:15Whilst the team gets stuck in digging out the space for the building,
0:11:15 > 0:11:17we've sneaked off to a quiet corner
0:11:17 > 0:11:21to have a look at how Michelle has tweaked Sophia's design.
0:11:21 > 0:11:23I don't want to be rude, but is that it?
0:11:23 > 0:11:26I knew you'd say that! At the end of the day,
0:11:26 > 0:11:28this is going to be a dance area for you,
0:11:28 > 0:11:32so Sophia needs a lot of space within the room
0:11:32 > 0:11:33to practise her dance moves.
0:11:33 > 0:11:38We're going to have your ballet barre along here so you can practise all your ballet moves.
0:11:38 > 0:11:40We're going to have corner shelves,
0:11:40 > 0:11:43and also a kind of costume area here.
0:11:43 > 0:11:48The reason it looks so bare is because a lot of the things that we're having
0:11:48 > 0:11:50are along the outside edges of the room,
0:11:50 > 0:11:55which means the inside will be totally dedicated to you using it for your dancing.
0:11:55 > 0:11:58- Has she missed anything out?- No.
0:12:00 > 0:12:02So, after the first day,
0:12:02 > 0:12:05how is Sophia feeling about progress so far?
0:12:05 > 0:12:09I think today's gone well, because we've got to a good stage
0:12:09 > 0:12:11so we can start building tomorrow.
0:12:11 > 0:12:13But there's no rest for the I Want My Own Room team,
0:12:13 > 0:12:17who work hard into the evening to finish off the foundations.
0:12:22 > 0:12:25So, dance-mad Sophia barely had space to perform a pirouette,
0:12:25 > 0:12:29but now we've convinced Mum and Dad to hand over the keys to the house,
0:12:29 > 0:12:32we're planning on creating a purpose-built dance studio.
0:12:32 > 0:12:37But will Sophia be dancing in the aisles when she finally sees her very own room?
0:12:40 > 0:12:43It's the beginning of day two, and the I Want My Own Room team
0:12:43 > 0:12:47are up with the lark to start constructing Sophia's dream dance studio.
0:12:47 > 0:12:50And they're not hanging around.
0:12:54 > 0:12:56I'm really pleased with it so far. It's looking good.
0:12:56 > 0:12:59For the duration of the building project,
0:12:59 > 0:13:02Sophia and her parents are staying with relatives nearby.
0:13:02 > 0:13:05They're on their way back to the house,
0:13:05 > 0:13:07and Sophia has big plans for Mum and Dad.
0:13:07 > 0:13:10Well, Sophia, what have we got in store for us today?
0:13:11 > 0:13:15Well, I've got lots of jobs for you, so it should keep you busy all day.
0:13:15 > 0:13:18Oh, no!
0:13:19 > 0:13:24And there's a big surprise waiting for Sophia in the garden.
0:13:25 > 0:13:27Oh, wow.
0:13:27 > 0:13:31- Hey, Sophia, are you all right? What do you think?- Brilliant.
0:13:31 > 0:13:34- It's massive. - It is. That's what I thought.
0:13:34 > 0:13:37It's big, but it's far from finished.
0:13:37 > 0:13:40To transform the building into a sleek dance studio,
0:13:40 > 0:13:43the inside walls need to be lined with wooden boards.
0:13:43 > 0:13:47The boards need painting, and that sounds like work for Mum and Dad.
0:13:47 > 0:13:52I've got some rollers here for you two to do some painting on these boards.
0:13:52 > 0:13:54Here you go, Dad. He you go, Mum.
0:13:54 > 0:13:56Come on, Mum, put your back into it.
0:13:56 > 0:13:59- Hey, steady, this is my bit. - Put your whole body into it.
0:13:59 > 0:14:05- That's it, Mum!- My glasses are falling off!- I don't care.
0:14:05 > 0:14:07I think Dad is doing the best,
0:14:07 > 0:14:09because he's really good at painting long bits,
0:14:09 > 0:14:12but my mum is rubbish, because she's got small arms.
0:14:12 > 0:14:15A long stride like that, do you get it? Yeah?
0:14:15 > 0:14:17Try painting with these on.
0:14:17 > 0:14:20With Mum and Dad put to work, Sophia can turn her attention
0:14:20 > 0:14:24to a design feature she discovered on her trip to the ballet company -
0:14:24 > 0:14:27the sprung dance floor.
0:14:27 > 0:14:29She wants to create her own version in her studio,
0:14:29 > 0:14:32so it's time to chat to carpenter Andy.
0:14:32 > 0:14:35- How's it going, Andy? - It's going good.
0:14:35 > 0:14:39Just working on Sophia's dancefloor.
0:14:39 > 0:14:42- Brilliant.- What kind of dancing do you do?- Ballet, tap and street dance.- Yes?
0:14:42 > 0:14:45What we are going to try and achieve is to take some of the pressure
0:14:45 > 0:14:48off your knees and give you a little bit of bounce under your floor.
0:14:48 > 0:14:50That is going to go under a board
0:14:50 > 0:14:52and then we will have a floor finish on top.
0:14:52 > 0:14:55- Do you think that will help your knees?- Yes, it's good.
0:14:55 > 0:14:59With work on the dance studio underway it is off to
0:14:59 > 0:15:01Sophia's room to collect up some dancing memories
0:15:01 > 0:15:04which Michelle wants to transform into a piece of art.
0:15:04 > 0:15:07I thought it would be a nice idea to incorporate
0:15:07 > 0:15:08all of that into a picture frame
0:15:08 > 0:15:12- and then you can hang it up on your wall in your dance studio.- Yes.
0:15:12 > 0:15:14The first thing you need is a frame
0:15:14 > 0:15:16and a coloured piece of card to stick all the things to.
0:15:16 > 0:15:19I have got some pink card.
0:15:19 > 0:15:23I'm going to place this on the back to act as a template
0:15:23 > 0:15:26to stick everything on. The great thing about this
0:15:26 > 0:15:28- is you can do it with absolutely anything.- Yes.
0:15:28 > 0:15:30- It's just a bit different.- Yes.
0:15:30 > 0:15:33A good tip for creating your picture is to start from the centre
0:15:33 > 0:15:35and work out.
0:15:35 > 0:15:38Sophia has chosen something very special for her centrepiece.
0:15:38 > 0:15:40Her very first ballet shoes.
0:15:40 > 0:15:43They could make a picture by themselves
0:15:43 > 0:15:46if you put a frame around. They look great don't they?
0:15:46 > 0:15:50The next stage is to stick things to the card to build up the picture.
0:15:50 > 0:15:52There is no right or wrong way to do it. Just get stuck in.
0:15:52 > 0:15:58- What do you reckon we do next? - Put some tutu netting across here.
0:15:58 > 0:16:01- Shall we do that?- Yes.- It is time for the moment of truth.
0:16:01 > 0:16:04How has Sophia's memory box picture turned out?
0:16:04 > 0:16:09- That looks brilliant. What do you think?- It is really cool.
0:16:09 > 0:16:14- It looks great. - Yes.- Are you happy?- Yes.- Good.
0:16:14 > 0:16:17With the funky picture finished it is time to see how
0:16:17 > 0:16:20Mum and Dad are getting on with their painting.
0:16:21 > 0:16:26- Here they are.- Let's have a look. - What do you think?
0:16:26 > 0:16:32- It is a bit patchy.- Are you not impressed?- No. What are these?
0:16:32 > 0:16:34It's not mine. I do not have time to stop.
0:16:34 > 0:16:37The quality of Mum and Dad's work has not been very good
0:16:37 > 0:16:40because they got coffee stains all over it
0:16:40 > 0:16:42and there are loads of bits all over
0:16:42 > 0:16:45and it is really patchy, the paint on it.
0:16:45 > 0:16:49Luckily for Sophia, Mum and Dad have back up in the form of the
0:16:49 > 0:16:51I Want My Own Room Team.
0:16:51 > 0:16:54The team has finished building the structure of the studio
0:16:54 > 0:16:57and are now working on laying the sprung dance floor.
0:16:59 > 0:17:02There's just two days to go and still loads to do
0:17:02 > 0:17:05but there does not seem to be much going on in the garden.
0:17:05 > 0:17:08I think it is time we gave them a hurry up.
0:17:08 > 0:17:11There is so many things still to attach on the walls,
0:17:11 > 0:17:14to paint on the walls, to stick on. That will take time.
0:17:14 > 0:17:18- Those are things you have to help with.- We're not worried at all.
0:17:18 > 0:17:22- The team are on it.- The team are having a cup of tea at the moment.
0:17:24 > 0:17:27To keep some design features secret, the family are now banned
0:17:27 > 0:17:30from the back garden until the dance studio is finished.
0:17:30 > 0:17:34But Michelle is confident she knows what Sophia wants
0:17:34 > 0:17:36so she has flagged up another job for Mum and Dad.
0:17:36 > 0:17:40You are going to be decorating the outside of Sophia's dance
0:17:40 > 0:17:42studio with some lovely bunting.
0:17:42 > 0:17:46All you have got to do is draw round these templates onto
0:17:46 > 0:17:49the different pieces of material, cut them out
0:17:49 > 0:17:52with our scissors and attach them to the bunting ribbon.
0:17:52 > 0:17:54The person that does the best bunting decoration is the one
0:17:54 > 0:17:57that Sophia is going to choose. It is all to play for.
0:17:57 > 0:18:03- Are you creative?- Definitely not. - It is time to get creative.
0:18:03 > 0:18:06- I am going to leave you to it. Good luck.- Thank you.
0:18:06 > 0:18:09Off we go. Do not think about stealing my ideas.
0:18:09 > 0:18:11Don't worry about that.
0:18:11 > 0:18:15While Mum and Dad go head-to-head, I need Sophia's help to
0:18:15 > 0:18:18paint up a space-saving shoe storage cabinet
0:18:18 > 0:18:21inspired by her trip to the ballet company.
0:18:21 > 0:18:25What did you think of the dance studio last time you saw it?
0:18:25 > 0:18:28I did not expect it to be as big as it was,
0:18:28 > 0:18:31but everything is going smoothly so far.
0:18:31 > 0:18:36I've got my visions. When you mix and match colours... Don't look.
0:18:36 > 0:18:37That looks fabulous.
0:18:37 > 0:18:39That is pretty good.
0:18:39 > 0:18:43Your Mum and Dad are at your uncle's house making the bunting.
0:18:43 > 0:18:46Who do you think is going to be best at that, your mum or your dad?
0:18:46 > 0:18:49I think my mum because she is more creative than my dad.
0:18:49 > 0:18:54- Have you seen your dad make anything arty before?- No.
0:18:54 > 0:18:59- Why are you so calm and organised? - That is what all blokes are like.
0:18:59 > 0:19:04- Yeah, but...- Five, six...- Do not get a headache counting up to ten!
0:19:04 > 0:19:09- I can't count to ten.- That is when you get sent to bed
0:19:09 > 0:19:11for being a naughty boy!
0:19:11 > 0:19:15Have you noticed...? It is the honest truth.
0:19:15 > 0:19:17HE LAUGHS
0:19:17 > 0:19:18Rocking it.
0:19:20 > 0:19:23- Triangles done.- Look, my triangles!- Wahey!
0:19:23 > 0:19:27What does it mean to you to have your very own dance studio?
0:19:27 > 0:19:31It will be life-changing because it is somewhere to practise
0:19:31 > 0:19:32and chill out.
0:19:32 > 0:19:35It will be brilliant.
0:19:35 > 0:19:41My bunting line is that long, it has gone into the garden border.
0:19:41 > 0:19:46I need to pull my bunting across like so.
0:19:46 > 0:19:49APPLAUSE
0:19:49 > 0:19:51Stop the applause please! Stop the applause.
0:19:51 > 0:19:54I think we need to leave that to dry.
0:19:54 > 0:19:55We will finish it later.
0:19:55 > 0:19:59Shall we see how your mum and dad are getting on doing the bunting?
0:19:59 > 0:20:01- Yes.- I've got a feeling your dad may be struggling.
0:20:01 > 0:20:03Yes he has got big fingers as well
0:20:03 > 0:20:07so it will be hard to get all the little things onto it.
0:20:07 > 0:20:09I am going to be the winner. Trust me.
0:20:09 > 0:20:12It is quality rather than quantity.
0:20:12 > 0:20:17- You cannot rush these things. - Oh! Look at that bunting.
0:20:17 > 0:20:21What do you think?
0:20:21 > 0:20:25- It is very good which is surprising.- Charming(!)
0:20:25 > 0:20:28And the winning bunting is top or bottom?
0:20:28 > 0:20:30DRUM ROLL
0:20:30 > 0:20:32This one.
0:20:32 > 0:20:34Hurrah!
0:20:34 > 0:20:37# You're the best around
0:20:37 > 0:20:39# Nothing is going to ever keep you down
0:20:39 > 0:20:41# You're the best around... #
0:20:41 > 0:20:43Champ fashion designer!
0:20:43 > 0:20:46My wife is known as the sequin queen.
0:20:46 > 0:20:48Unfortunately I think she has become the dancing queen
0:20:48 > 0:20:51because my work is far superior to hers.
0:20:52 > 0:20:54I am just devastated.
0:20:57 > 0:20:59Back at the house, pressure is mounting
0:20:59 > 0:21:01for the I Want My Own Room Team.
0:21:01 > 0:21:04I want to check that we are still on the right track.
0:21:04 > 0:21:07There is one thing missing that will make you really disappointed.
0:21:07 > 0:21:11What is that one thing? The ballet barre thing.
0:21:11 > 0:21:13But I think that will be in there.
0:21:13 > 0:21:17Try and get some sleep tonight, have lovely ballet-filled dreams
0:21:17 > 0:21:19and tomorrow you are going to see your new room.
0:21:24 > 0:21:26It's the final day.
0:21:26 > 0:21:29I'd love to say the team are organised and on schedule,
0:21:29 > 0:21:31but I'd be lying. It's chaos!
0:21:33 > 0:21:35Come on, guys, we can do this!
0:21:37 > 0:21:40There's no more skirting around the issue.
0:21:40 > 0:21:44The time has come to do the job that the whole team have been dreading.
0:21:44 > 0:21:47Mounting Sophia's shiny new dance mirrors onto the wall.
0:21:47 > 0:21:51Guys, we don't want seven years' bad luck, so be careful with that.
0:21:51 > 0:21:53- We've got three mirrors, that's 21! - THEY LAUGH
0:21:53 > 0:21:56We're just putting the mirrors in now.
0:21:56 > 0:21:59It's slightly worrying, they are quite large, really hefty
0:21:59 > 0:22:03and we haven't got any spares. We can't afford for them to break.
0:22:03 > 0:22:04- To me.- To you, to me.
0:22:07 > 0:22:10- Looks level from here. - You're worrying me.
0:22:16 > 0:22:18'Well, on reflection, that went well.
0:22:18 > 0:22:22'Now it's the simple task of the I Want My Own Room team
0:22:22 > 0:22:26'pulling together to make Sophia's dreams come true.'
0:22:26 > 0:22:29I'm not impressed about all that stuff on the shelf, Jay.
0:22:29 > 0:22:32If that scratches it, we'll have to take it out and respray it.
0:22:32 > 0:22:37- You going to have a word?- Justin? - Is it all kicking off in here?
0:22:37 > 0:22:40- It's him.- It's me?!
0:22:40 > 0:22:43He's been giving me grief all morning.
0:22:43 > 0:22:46I don't have to work in these conditions.
0:22:53 > 0:22:59- No!- Justin! You've just put that on the wet varnish! Oh, you numpty.
0:22:59 > 0:23:03- He's going to be so mad.- You can tell Jay. I'm not telling him.
0:23:03 > 0:23:07It's not marked it. It's dry, nearly. It's dry. Shush!
0:23:07 > 0:23:10Before we can put the final design features into the room,
0:23:10 > 0:23:14the paintwork has to be purrrr-fect.
0:23:14 > 0:23:18- You've done an amazing job of that corner, it looks good.- Aw, thanks.
0:23:21 > 0:23:25Have you never seen a cat painting before? What's the big deal?
0:23:25 > 0:23:29Rrrowl! But there's no time for pussyfooting around.
0:23:29 > 0:23:32Sophia and her mum and dad are less than 30 minutes away.
0:23:32 > 0:23:37I'm feeling really excited to see my dance studio, I can't wait.
0:23:37 > 0:23:42There's just enough time for me to test out her brand-new dancefloor.
0:23:43 > 0:23:46# Make 'em laugh, make 'em laugh
0:23:46 > 0:23:49# Don't you know everyone wants to laugh, ha ha! #
0:23:49 > 0:23:52They're all going to be here in 10 minutes,
0:23:52 > 0:23:53so do you want to lend a hand?
0:23:53 > 0:23:56- Yeah. Do you want the umbrella in? - I'll take that.
0:23:56 > 0:24:00# Make 'em laugh, make 'em laugh, make 'em laugh! #
0:24:00 > 0:24:02So the dancefloor is definitely working,
0:24:02 > 0:24:05and so are the I Want My Own Room team.
0:24:05 > 0:24:09With Sophia just minutes away, once again, we're cutting it mighty fine.
0:24:09 > 0:24:11And they're here!
0:24:12 > 0:24:15Mum and Dad, I guess you'd like to get control
0:24:15 > 0:24:17of your house back from your 12-year-old daughter.
0:24:17 > 0:24:22- Absolutely.- I'm afraid they've got to go back to Mum and Dad.
0:24:22 > 0:24:26- Thank you very much. That feels better!- Yay!
0:24:28 > 0:24:31That's the happiest I've seen Dad look since we got here!
0:24:31 > 0:24:33Mum, Dad, would you like to do the honours
0:24:33 > 0:24:35and let us back into the house?
0:24:35 > 0:24:37Certainly.
0:24:40 > 0:24:41Just four days ago,
0:24:41 > 0:24:44Sophia was a downbeat dancer with nowhere to practise.
0:24:44 > 0:24:46But along came the I Want My Own Room Team
0:24:46 > 0:24:48who put their best foot forward
0:24:48 > 0:24:52and transformed the weed-ridden end of the garden
0:24:52 > 0:24:53into a stunning dance studio.
0:24:53 > 0:24:56With design features like a personalised mirror,
0:24:56 > 0:24:59a sprung dancefloor,
0:24:59 > 0:25:02and a space-saving fold up make-up area,
0:25:02 > 0:25:05this room is completely unique.
0:25:05 > 0:25:08But will it be a showstopping success or a flat-footed disaster?
0:25:08 > 0:25:12It's time for Sophia to judge.
0:25:12 > 0:25:17Three, two, one. Da-dah!
0:25:19 > 0:25:22- What's the first thing you think? - It's really good.
0:25:22 > 0:25:25- I bet you're dying to have a look inside, aren't you?- Yeah!
0:25:25 > 0:25:30- I love it!- You love it?- Yeah. - And this floor is actually...
0:25:30 > 0:25:34- Really bouncy.- It's a sprung floor. - It's really cool, I love it.
0:25:37 > 0:25:42- Eh?- Wow! Have a quick go. It's really cool!- Is it?- Yeah!
0:25:42 > 0:25:45So you've got your shoes in there, and on top there,
0:25:45 > 0:25:47you've got a nice seat so you can sit down.
0:25:47 > 0:25:51- Yeah.- And it's on wheels, so you can move it. What do you think?
0:25:51 > 0:25:54That's amazing.
0:25:54 > 0:25:57Any girl, before she goes on stage, doing her make-up, needs...
0:25:57 > 0:26:00make-up lights!
0:26:00 > 0:26:03What's having this space going to mean to you?
0:26:03 > 0:26:08It's going to mean the world to me. It's just amazing. I love it.
0:26:08 > 0:26:10The room has floored Sophia.
0:26:10 > 0:26:13But will it have Mum and Dad dancing for joy?
0:26:13 > 0:26:17- Oh, wow!- What do you think? - Look at this. This is fantastic.
0:26:17 > 0:26:21- I'm going to cry!- Aw, Mum! - There's her first ballet shoes.
0:26:25 > 0:26:29- Did you ever think that Sophia would have a room like this?- No.
0:26:29 > 0:26:31You softy!
0:26:31 > 0:26:34Very, very lucky girl. Very lucky girl.
0:26:34 > 0:26:36Da-dah!
0:26:37 > 0:26:42- I want to do it as well!- Look at this, Mum!- Sophia's dance studio.
0:26:42 > 0:26:45That is fantastic. What a fantastic idea.
0:26:48 > 0:26:50I'm over the moon with the end result.
0:26:50 > 0:26:54It's everything I think Sophia would dream about.
0:26:54 > 0:26:56Who could ask for more than that?
0:26:56 > 0:26:58Wow!
0:27:00 > 0:27:05I want to say thank you to everyone who put all the hard work into this.
0:27:05 > 0:27:08- I think we should give Michelle a hug, don't you?- Yeah!
0:27:10 > 0:27:12It's been a crazy four days.
0:27:12 > 0:27:14We had to start from scratch
0:27:14 > 0:27:17but in the end Sophia created her very own dance studio
0:27:17 > 0:27:21that will hopefully put a spring in her step for years to come.
0:27:37 > 0:27:40# I want, I want my own room
0:27:40 > 0:27:44# I want, I want my own room
0:27:44 > 0:27:48# I want, I want my own room... #
0:27:49 > 0:27:52I think Michelle did absolutely brilliant,
0:27:52 > 0:27:55I give her 10 million out of 10!
