0:00:56 > 0:00:59Meet today's design-tastic duo.

0:00:59 > 0:01:00I'm Freya.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02I'm Hattie.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05- BOTH:- We want our own room!

0:01:06 > 0:01:07Sisters Freya and Hattie

0:01:07 > 0:01:11are being driven mad, having no space to get art-and-crafty.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15- So we persuade mum to give them the keys to the house.- Yay!

0:01:15 > 0:01:17A top designer works on their plans.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21- Are you ready to get your hands a bit dirty and start helping me out?- Yeah!

0:01:21 > 0:01:24They get ideas at an animation workshop,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27and the girls take charge of the team.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30- Telling a load of adults what to do. - Keep working! No chit-chatter.

0:01:30 > 0:01:31They're as happy as Larry.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34With just four days to transform the space,

0:01:34 > 0:01:37will the team be able to create the design den of their dreams?

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Voila.

0:01:43 > 0:01:4711-year-old Freya and 9-year-old Hattie love to make things.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50Freya is a dab hand with a needle and thread,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53and Hattie is a budding filmmaker.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55The girls live with their older sister Ella,

0:01:55 > 0:01:57who gets a room of her own,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59and ceramics designer Mum,

0:01:59 > 0:02:03who has masses of space to go potty with her pottery.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06Even cats Lola and Rose have more space than Freya and Hattie.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09And this creative duo have had enough.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19BUMP!

0:02:27 > 0:02:29It's clear to me

0:02:29 > 0:02:32I need to help Freya and Hattie find a space of their own.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35- Hello, how are you doing?- Good.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37- Are we allowed to have a look round? - Yeah, follow us.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39This is our room.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41Do you know what? It's a lovely room, isn't it?

0:02:41 > 0:02:44- It's just got all our old stuff in it.- It's cramped.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46It'd be nice to have more space for it.

0:02:46 > 0:02:49Is there anything particular you'd like to do in the space?

0:02:49 > 0:02:51Well, we can't make any of our Plasticine models.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53We have to do it on the floor,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56but then we're not allowed to get Plasticine on the carpet,

0:02:56 > 0:02:57because you can't get it off,

0:02:57 > 0:03:00and Mum's not particularly happy with that.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03I've got loads of sewing stuff,

0:03:03 > 0:03:04but there's no room to do it,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06so I don't do it any more.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08You've convinced me you do need more space.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11Let's have a look round the house. Where shall we go first?

0:03:11 > 0:03:13- The attic.- The attic.- This way.

0:03:13 > 0:03:14These steps are very...

0:03:14 > 0:03:16they're not really...

0:03:16 > 0:03:19- Are they quite heavy to get down? - Yes.- We wouldn't be able to reach.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23So you'd need somebody else to pull them down for you. That's not good.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26- Let's see what else we can find. - OK.- After you.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32What's this room used for officially at the moment?

0:03:32 > 0:03:34It's supposed to be our playroom,

0:03:34 > 0:03:36but it's not really worked out.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39- That TV's rubbish. It doesn't work. - What is this, next to it?

0:03:39 > 0:03:41- That's off our car.- Our old car.

0:03:41 > 0:03:45- I'm assuming that's not yours. - That's definitely not ours.

0:03:45 > 0:03:46Do you know what?

0:03:46 > 0:03:50- I think we might have found our solution.- Great!- Come on, then.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56So Freya and Hattie don't have enough space in their bedroom

0:03:56 > 0:03:58for all their arts and crafts.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00The abandoned front room could be perfect,

0:04:00 > 0:04:02but will Mum agree to hand over the keys?

0:04:04 > 0:04:07Hattie, Freya, we've had a good look in your bedroom.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09It's pretty cramped, would you say?

0:04:09 > 0:04:11- Yes.- Yeah, definitely.

0:04:11 > 0:04:15- Not much room to do what you want to do?- No.- Nope.- Not at all.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18Mum, they haven't got much room in there, have they?

0:04:18 > 0:04:20No, but they have got the front room downstairs.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23That is true, but we had a look in there as well.

0:04:23 > 0:04:26There's a lot of clutter in there, isn't there?

0:04:26 > 0:04:28There's a bit of old car in there.

0:04:28 > 0:04:30Is there? Really? OK.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32What we've done, Mum,

0:04:32 > 0:04:35to prove to you how much the girls really do need their own space...

0:04:35 > 0:04:37OK...

0:04:37 > 0:04:40We've gone into their bedroom, measured the available floor space,

0:04:40 > 0:04:43cut it in half, cos obviously they share that space,

0:04:43 > 0:04:47- and hat works out at 3.2 square metres.- Right.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49Which is exactly what we have here.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52So just to show you how difficult it is to live and work

0:04:52 > 0:04:55in that space, we've put a chair and your ceramics and things in there

0:04:55 > 0:04:57for you to have a go at it.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59How do you think Mum's going to do, girls?

0:04:59 > 0:05:01Oh, here we go!

0:05:02 > 0:05:05- Oh, the transfers are going on the floor.- Right.

0:05:05 > 0:05:09The head's come out! No, your head's out, you have to stay in,

0:05:09 > 0:05:12- that's cheating. Now you're caught up in the tape.- Ouch.- Oh dear.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14Arrgh!

0:05:14 > 0:05:15This is so entertaining.

0:05:15 > 0:05:17So, come on, honestly,

0:05:17 > 0:05:20what's it like working in that enclosed space?

0:05:20 > 0:05:22Horrible. Really horrible!

0:05:22 > 0:05:24- Shall we let Mum come out now?- Yeah.

0:05:24 > 0:05:26- Come on, then, Mum.- Thank you.

0:05:28 > 0:05:33So, Mum, do you agree to hand over control and the keys to the girls?

0:05:34 > 0:05:35Uhh...

0:05:35 > 0:05:39- Yes. - Those are your very own house keys.

0:05:39 > 0:05:43Do you agree to let Freya and Hattie redesign your home

0:05:43 > 0:05:45in any way they choose

0:05:45 > 0:05:47- to give them more space?- Um...

0:05:47 > 0:05:49DRUM ROLL

0:05:49 > 0:05:52Oh...I suppose so.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54There we go, yes!

0:05:54 > 0:05:59So, Freya and Hattie are now in charge of designing their own room.

0:05:59 > 0:06:01They'll get to tell Mum what to do,

0:06:01 > 0:06:04and it all needs to be finished in just four days.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07I think it's about time I took you to meet somebody

0:06:07 > 0:06:10who's going to make all your design dreams come true.

0:06:10 > 0:06:12- How does that sound? - That sounds amazing.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16I Want My Own Room designer Michelle Ackerley

0:06:16 > 0:06:20is an accomplished artist, and her wide knowledge of craft techniques

0:06:20 > 0:06:23makes her the ideal person to help Freya and Hattie

0:06:23 > 0:06:26change their tired front room into a fabulous new design den.

0:06:26 > 0:06:30I just want to get a sense of what this room is going to be used for.

0:06:30 > 0:06:34What is the most important thing you want to get out of this room?

0:06:34 > 0:06:37For me, I want to be a producer, so I want to make films.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40So would you like there to be some kind of video camera station

0:06:40 > 0:06:43- or something to do with video? - A computer area, yeah.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46I'm really intrigued by these little Plasticine models.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49Tell me a bit more about these.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52In our spare time, we make little Plasticine things.

0:06:52 > 0:06:55We actually managed to sell them at a festival,

0:06:55 > 0:06:58it was where we made £7 off these little things.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00- Did you really? - And we only sold like five.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03We need a space for you to display them, or store them

0:07:03 > 0:07:05so they won't get squished.

0:07:05 > 0:07:08They need a place like a little box that you can see them in,

0:07:08 > 0:07:11- See-through, then?- Yes, definitely.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14So if you could pick three things that are most important to you...

0:07:14 > 0:07:16One of them would be

0:07:16 > 0:07:20a nice comfy place for all our friends to be here, like a sofa

0:07:20 > 0:07:22and...just to chill out.

0:07:22 > 0:07:23Somewhere so I can work.

0:07:23 > 0:07:28This desk is rubbish. It's got nothing. It's small and cramped.

0:07:28 > 0:07:32- Just to be somewhere where it's just our own space.- Yes.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35OK, girls, I think I've got a really good idea now

0:07:35 > 0:07:38of the types of things you want in this room,

0:07:38 > 0:07:41so are you ready to get your hands a bit dirty and start helping me out?

0:07:41 > 0:07:43- Yeah.- Definitely.- Come on, then.

0:07:43 > 0:07:47First, Freya, Hattie and Michelle put on protective shirts.

0:07:47 > 0:07:49This design could get messy.

0:07:49 > 0:07:53So, girls, we're going to paint an outline of our design on the wall.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56As we're painting over this wall, it doesn't matter,

0:07:56 > 0:07:59but I don't want you two going paint crazy on any walls in this house.

0:07:59 > 0:08:01- OK?- OK.- Let's get started.

0:08:07 > 0:08:10With the outline of the room complete,

0:08:10 > 0:08:13Michelle needs the girls' help to plan the layout.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15If the window's there, what have you got here?

0:08:15 > 0:08:17Those two archway things.

0:08:17 > 0:08:19So do you want to paint in an arch each?

0:08:19 > 0:08:21- Yep.- Just so we know where they are.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24It's good that you've got two different colours there,

0:08:24 > 0:08:29because that gives us an idea - one could be Freya's

0:08:29 > 0:08:31and one could be yours, Hattie.

0:08:31 > 0:08:34- That's a really good idea. - That's a good idea, yes.

0:08:34 > 0:08:36I know how creative you both are,

0:08:36 > 0:08:40how you're so arts-and-craftsy, always making different things.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43How about having a type of wallpaper

0:08:43 > 0:08:46which actually has sections that you can paint in,

0:08:46 > 0:08:49that you can draw in, you can stick things on.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52- That's a brilliant idea! - It's a really good idea, yeah.

0:08:52 > 0:08:56So it would be your own custom-made wallpaper.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59- So we could draw on it ourselves? - Exactly.

0:09:03 > 0:09:04But this design den

0:09:04 > 0:09:08won't be complete without space for their biggest passions,

0:09:08 > 0:09:10Plasticine modelling and filmmaking.

0:09:10 > 0:09:12So, to get some ideas,

0:09:12 > 0:09:15Michelle is taking Freya and Hattie on a grand day out

0:09:15 > 0:09:17to the National Media Museum,

0:09:17 > 0:09:21home to some of Britain's best-loved TV and film animated characters.

0:09:21 > 0:09:24This is amazing. It's just so real.

0:09:27 > 0:09:30It's so cute, and the little books,

0:09:30 > 0:09:31you just go, "Oh, wow!"

0:09:32 > 0:09:35Michelle has organised for the girls

0:09:35 > 0:09:36to make an animated film of their own,

0:09:36 > 0:09:38so she can see for herself

0:09:38 > 0:09:42the best way to incorporate these hobbies into their design den.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45So you have to decide what kind of hair you want on them,

0:09:45 > 0:09:47whether it's a boy or a girl.

0:09:47 > 0:09:49What do you think you'll have?

0:09:49 > 0:09:51I think it's going to look good.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58The girls have had practise

0:09:58 > 0:10:01making their own models, but they've never made them move.

0:10:01 > 0:10:04So with lights, camera and a laptop,

0:10:04 > 0:10:07it's a chance to bring their characters to life.

0:10:09 > 0:10:10Whoo!

0:10:10 > 0:10:11And after all their hard work,

0:10:11 > 0:10:13they watch the finished film.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27- Ah, that's brilliant! - Yeah?

0:10:27 > 0:10:31- Awesome. I like the way the tears came out.- That's brilliant.

0:10:31 > 0:10:33This has given me a really, really good idea

0:10:33 > 0:10:36for something to incorporate into their room.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38They're so enthusiastic about this.

0:10:38 > 0:10:39I'm hoping I can make it work.

0:10:39 > 0:10:42- The animation workshop... - Was brilliant!

0:10:42 > 0:10:45The animation workshop's been a hit,

0:10:45 > 0:10:49and Michelle knows it's something she must include in the design den,

0:10:49 > 0:10:52so while she finalises the girls' room design,

0:10:52 > 0:10:55it's time to get things started back at the house.

0:10:55 > 0:10:56Yes!

0:10:56 > 0:10:59First job is emptying the room

0:10:59 > 0:11:01so they can start turning it into their design den,

0:11:01 > 0:11:05so Freya and Hattie need to make sure Mum clears everything out.

0:11:05 > 0:11:08And they don't have any time to waste.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11Right, Mum, we want this mess cleaned up!

0:11:11 > 0:11:13Mum's dressed for the part,

0:11:13 > 0:11:15but she's on a go-slow.

0:11:15 > 0:11:16Stop time-wasting.

0:11:16 > 0:11:20So Freya and Hattie have got big sister Ella in to help.

0:11:20 > 0:11:22Yeah, brilliant.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25- Ella, stop time wasting! - No joking around.

0:11:25 > 0:11:27Where do you want him?

0:11:27 > 0:11:28Shush! Stop talking!

0:11:28 > 0:11:30We don't have all day.

0:11:30 > 0:11:34Mum can stack her stuff up for now, but later she'll have to work out

0:11:34 > 0:11:37what she wants to keep, give to charity, or recycle.

0:11:37 > 0:11:42- You're doing all right, aren't you? - Well done, Mum.- Thank you, Freya.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45Oh, the...

0:11:45 > 0:11:46- Jenga's gone.- Was that me?

0:11:46 > 0:11:49I think Mum's bottom might have knocked Jenga over.

0:11:49 > 0:11:51Oh, this is cool, isn't it?

0:11:51 > 0:11:54This is like a kind of 70s hippie gear, isn't it?

0:11:54 > 0:11:56SITAR MUSIC

0:11:56 > 0:11:57Peace and love, man.

0:11:57 > 0:11:59We have got a few helpers.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02Show a bit of love for the Mum, OK, and the old sister,

0:12:02 > 0:12:05- and shall we get some people in to help them out?- Yes.- Yeah.

0:12:05 > 0:12:06Good decision, girls.

0:12:06 > 0:12:10This is a big job, so the I Want My Own Room team knuckle down

0:12:10 > 0:12:13to get the room cleared.

0:12:13 > 0:12:14With the room now empty,

0:12:14 > 0:12:18Michelle is keen to get the girls' approval on the final design.

0:12:18 > 0:12:20Girls, looking at this room,

0:12:20 > 0:12:23can you believe how big it looks without anything in it?

0:12:23 > 0:12:25- Amazing.- It's really big.

0:12:25 > 0:12:26- Shall we have a look?- Yes.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29This is kind of the basic layout of the room,

0:12:29 > 0:12:32and the main thing you girls have spoken about

0:12:32 > 0:12:35is wanting your individual space,

0:12:35 > 0:12:37so we've got alcove one

0:12:37 > 0:12:39and alcove two,

0:12:39 > 0:12:41and these are going to be assigned to each of you.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44I think it'll be really great,

0:12:44 > 0:12:48cos we've never had our own thing, we've always had to share.

0:12:48 > 0:12:52You also mentioned you want the room to be really comfortable,

0:12:52 > 0:12:56so here we're going to have a kind of special seating area.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58We're going to have customised wallpaper,

0:12:58 > 0:13:01so they can get stuck in writing on the wall.

0:13:01 > 0:13:02That should be a bit of fun too.

0:13:02 > 0:13:06- Are you excited about, girls?- Yeah, really excited.- There's no words.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10So Freya and Hattie have no space to get creative,

0:13:10 > 0:13:14but we've seen the potential in the front room,

0:13:14 > 0:13:17and have convinced Mum to hand over the house keys.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20The girls have got animated over their design ideas.

0:13:20 > 0:13:22That clutter-filled room has been cleared.

0:13:22 > 0:13:24But there's still a lot to do

0:13:24 > 0:13:27before the girls get the design den of their dreams.

0:13:31 > 0:13:33It's day two, and there's lots to do.

0:13:33 > 0:13:35As Freya and Hattie are in charge,

0:13:35 > 0:13:38it's down to them to get this building party started.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40There's work to be done!

0:13:40 > 0:13:45- I hereby declare this room ready to be designed.- Let the work begin.

0:13:46 > 0:13:50It's a race against the clock to turn the front room into a den,

0:13:50 > 0:13:52so the girls are keeping a keen eye on the team.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55The girls are in their element.

0:13:55 > 0:13:57Come on, keep working, no chit-chatter.

0:13:57 > 0:13:59Telling a load of adults what to do.

0:13:59 > 0:14:00They're as happy as Larry.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05- Mum?- Mum?- What are you doing?

0:14:05 > 0:14:07Girls, is it OK if I go to the loo?

0:14:07 > 0:14:10OK, maybe just this time.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12- Thank you.- Just this time.

0:14:12 > 0:14:15# Girls, girls who won the world

0:14:15 > 0:14:17# Girls, girls who won the world

0:14:17 > 0:14:20# Girls, girls who won the world... #

0:14:20 > 0:14:21- BOTH:- We rule!

0:14:24 > 0:14:28The girls have given Mum the job of putting up the customised wallpaper.

0:14:28 > 0:14:33Meanwhile, they select some photographs they can add to it.

0:14:33 > 0:14:37Shall be start with photos of me and Hattie?

0:14:37 > 0:14:40- Who's this?- Me. - Is that you?- Yeah, that's me.

0:14:40 > 0:14:41So cute!

0:14:41 > 0:14:43- That's Freya.- That is brilliant.

0:14:43 > 0:14:47Things aren't going quite as smoothly in the front room.

0:14:50 > 0:14:52As Mum bumbles on, the girls carry on regardless.

0:14:52 > 0:14:56That was my favourite fairy dress ever.

0:14:56 > 0:15:00At this rate, there'll be no wallpaper to put the photos on.

0:15:01 > 0:15:03I may have just ripped this.

0:15:03 > 0:15:06Luckily for Mum, there's help at hand.

0:15:10 > 0:15:14So the girls and Michelle take a look at their handiwork.

0:15:14 > 0:15:15What do you think?

0:15:15 > 0:15:18You've missed a bit, but apart from that it's brilliant.

0:15:18 > 0:15:22- What do you reckon? Shall we get on with personalising it?- Definitely.

0:15:22 > 0:15:23What do you think, Freya?

0:15:23 > 0:15:25Ha-ha, brilliant.

0:15:25 > 0:15:27With a whole wall of the special paper,

0:15:27 > 0:15:31- they can add pictures and photos for years to come.- That looks great.

0:15:31 > 0:15:33- Are you having fun, girls?- Yeah.

0:15:33 > 0:15:34Gimme five, girls.

0:15:34 > 0:15:36I'm loving your work.

0:15:42 > 0:15:44As the work continues in the front room,

0:15:44 > 0:15:47Michelle has a creative treat for the girls.

0:15:47 > 0:15:50I have brought along

0:15:50 > 0:15:52some very special material

0:15:52 > 0:15:55with some people you might recognise.

0:15:55 > 0:15:57Oh!

0:15:57 > 0:15:58Oh, that's so cute.

0:15:58 > 0:16:02So what we're going to do is make some cushion covers.

0:16:02 > 0:16:04GIRLS GIGGLE

0:16:04 > 0:16:05And these are going to be put

0:16:05 > 0:16:09- in your brand-new room later on.- Yay!

0:16:09 > 0:16:12Michelle has used photos of the family cats,

0:16:12 > 0:16:14Lola and Rose, to create images

0:16:14 > 0:16:18that will be purr-fect for the seating area of their design den.

0:16:18 > 0:16:20Are you excited?

0:16:21 > 0:16:22It's so good.

0:16:22 > 0:16:26If you want to make your own cushions, you could use any image.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28Cats, dogs, or what about Grandma?

0:16:28 > 0:16:32So we can see that kind of fits...

0:16:32 > 0:16:34fits the shape of the cushion.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37Most high-street or online photo shops

0:16:37 > 0:16:39can print your pictures onto material.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42Once you've cut out the picture...

0:16:42 > 0:16:44Great, so you've got your shape.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47..Sew it together. You can hand-sew or use a machine.

0:16:47 > 0:16:49And stuff them.

0:16:49 > 0:16:51Yay!

0:16:51 > 0:16:53Double cat complete.

0:16:53 > 0:16:56Hmm, I might make one of those myself later.

0:16:56 > 0:16:59- Shall we go and put them inside? - Yep.- Definitely.- Come on, then.

0:16:59 > 0:17:02And it looks like I'm not the only fan.

0:17:02 > 0:17:04"Oh, I'm so amazing, look at me!"

0:17:04 > 0:17:07As day two draws to a close, there's still a lot to be done

0:17:07 > 0:17:11and the I Want My Own Room team worked late into the night.

0:17:14 > 0:17:18It's day three and Michelle wants to keep some details a surprise,

0:17:18 > 0:17:22so from now on, the girls won't see the room.

0:17:22 > 0:17:25But they're confident she knows what they want.

0:17:25 > 0:17:28We've already told her stuff that we like.

0:17:28 > 0:17:31So how can she get it wrong?

0:17:31 > 0:17:34No pressure then, Michelle?

0:17:34 > 0:17:37The girls want mum to sort through the clutter from the front room.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39We want this mess cleaned up!

0:17:39 > 0:17:43There's no space in the house, so she's been sent to the town hall.

0:17:43 > 0:17:47Mom has to work out what she wants to keep, give to charity or junk.

0:17:47 > 0:17:49It looks like this could take some time.

0:17:51 > 0:17:52Where do I start?

0:17:54 > 0:17:55Argghh!

0:17:55 > 0:17:59As mum trawls through the stuff, back at the house

0:17:59 > 0:18:02Michelle has rescued some material from the front room,

0:18:02 > 0:18:04to make some fun, fabric doorstops.

0:18:04 > 0:18:07This is the first bit, this is going to be the head.

0:18:07 > 0:18:11So you got a nice big monster head.

0:18:11 > 0:18:14You've got your shapes drawn on the material,

0:18:14 > 0:18:17all you need to do next is cut them out.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22- Yay, I cut it all out!- well done!

0:18:22 > 0:18:23I did it.

0:18:23 > 0:18:25Is mum being as productive?

0:18:25 > 0:18:30Look, a broken egg cup. That might come in handy.

0:18:30 > 0:18:34- OK, this is the sewing bit. - Don't go too fast.

0:18:38 > 0:18:40Yay.

0:18:40 > 0:18:46Pebble. Some dead butterflies.

0:18:46 > 0:18:50This is the heavy duty bit, a bag of sand.

0:18:50 > 0:18:53The best thing to do is put it in little sandwich bags

0:18:53 > 0:18:55and then put it into your doorstop.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58Otherwise there might be tiny little holes in the material

0:18:58 > 0:19:00and then it'll just leak everywhere.

0:19:04 > 0:19:07I don't think that's going to get any more in. If I'm honest.

0:19:07 > 0:19:10It's looking brilliant.

0:19:10 > 0:19:13What has mum decided she's going to throw away?

0:19:13 > 0:19:16I'm going to throw these things.

0:19:16 > 0:19:20An old glove and a bit of scrap paper.

0:19:20 > 0:19:22CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:19:22 > 0:19:25These colourful characters can be used to keep

0:19:25 > 0:19:29the door open, or closed if they want to keep out unwanted mums.

0:19:31 > 0:19:35Over at the town hall, Mum has roped Ella in to help

0:19:35 > 0:19:37and still isn't making much progress.

0:19:37 > 0:19:40It's time for me and the girls to check up on them.

0:19:40 > 0:19:43Hello Ella and mum.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46I think we're doing quite well. I'm being quite hard.

0:19:46 > 0:19:49It doesn't look like it.

0:19:49 > 0:19:54OK, this is our box of remote controls. One, two, three...

0:19:54 > 0:19:58There are on average four remote controls per household

0:19:58 > 0:20:03in the UK and that means there are about 104 million remote controls in Britain.

0:20:03 > 0:20:05That's a lot of channel hopping.

0:20:05 > 0:20:08They might come in handy.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11All going in the junk. Bye, remote controls.

0:20:11 > 0:20:15It's obvious Mum needs a little help,

0:20:15 > 0:20:18and while she's not enjoying sorting all this stuff,

0:20:18 > 0:20:20I love a good rummage.

0:20:20 > 0:20:24- Do you think it suits me? This is quite this season.- Turn around.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27What's your favourite food? "Sausages". Why are the sausages doing the can-can?

0:20:27 > 0:20:29What else would you have in a cookery book?

0:20:29 > 0:20:31Back at the house, it's all go

0:20:31 > 0:20:36and Michelle's special seating area is starting to take shape.

0:20:38 > 0:20:42Meanwhile, with the girls in charge, the family motor through,

0:20:42 > 0:20:46with Freya and Hattie only allowing mum to keep a small amount to go back to the house.

0:20:46 > 0:20:48The rest is for charity and recycling.

0:20:50 > 0:20:52I'm glad it's done. I could do with a nice cup of tea now.

0:20:52 > 0:20:59- Are you pleased with what you've seen so far?- Yes. We made progress.

0:20:59 > 0:21:01I know the room is going to be really good.

0:21:01 > 0:21:04Everything has gone to plan, it's brilliant.

0:21:04 > 0:21:05It's the end of day three,

0:21:05 > 0:21:08but the work is far from over for the I Want My Own Room team,

0:21:08 > 0:21:10as they work into the night.

0:21:12 > 0:21:13OWL HOOTS

0:21:13 > 0:21:16HAMMERING AND DRILLING

0:21:16 > 0:21:21It's the morning of the final day and it's all hands on deck.

0:21:21 > 0:21:24Including mine!

0:21:24 > 0:21:25Voila!

0:21:25 > 0:21:28Michelle, it's the last day, it's all got to be done.

0:21:28 > 0:21:29Are you confident it'll happen?

0:21:29 > 0:21:32It has to, so I've just got to crack on with it.

0:21:32 > 0:21:36It's the last day and there's still so much to paint.

0:21:36 > 0:21:40It's easy enough painting it, but it just takes so much longer to dry.

0:21:40 > 0:21:42There's still things to install, hang up,

0:21:42 > 0:21:44stick on, loads of different things.

0:21:44 > 0:21:48Some of the things left to hang are Michelle's solution to

0:21:48 > 0:21:52Freya and Hattie's request to be able to display their Plasticine models.

0:21:52 > 0:21:56Michelle is using clear plastic domes and small lights,

0:21:56 > 0:22:00so they have pride of place in a dazzling wall display.

0:22:00 > 0:22:01With the paint dry,

0:22:01 > 0:22:05the pressure is on to get the finishing touches done.

0:22:05 > 0:22:08It just seems to be a never-ending list of things to do.

0:22:08 > 0:22:13I'm still remaining positive, but I am pretty stressed.

0:22:13 > 0:22:15The pressure is really on!

0:22:15 > 0:22:20There are shelves to go up, the alcoves need to be finished,

0:22:20 > 0:22:23pictures, light and blinds have to be hung.

0:22:23 > 0:22:26- A nice pink blind, mate. - It's very pink, isn't it?

0:22:26 > 0:22:28And I'm on brew duty.

0:22:30 > 0:22:36I know I'm coming to disturb you, but strictly speaking,

0:22:36 > 0:22:39- the deadline is in 15 minutes.- Yeah, I'll have to go like the clappers

0:22:39 > 0:22:42to get things done in 15 minutes.

0:22:42 > 0:22:45Not sure the girls can wait that long.

0:22:45 > 0:22:48- Can't wait, can't wait.- I just want to run to the house and look.

0:22:48 > 0:22:51Don't rush back just yet, girls.

0:22:51 > 0:22:55The team still have to apply the finishing touches.

0:23:04 > 0:23:09And I have some finishing touches of my own.

0:23:13 > 0:23:17Now the wait is over, the girls can finally return home.

0:23:22 > 0:23:26So, the big moment has arrived. Hattie, how are you feeling?

0:23:26 > 0:23:29Ecstatic. I can't wait. I can't wait at all.

0:23:29 > 0:23:33- How about you, Freya?- Get me in!

0:23:33 > 0:23:38- Mum, I should ask you how you are as well?- I'm just desperate to see it.

0:23:38 > 0:23:41Freya, you have to give those keys back to your mum

0:23:41 > 0:23:43because your mum is now in control again.

0:23:43 > 0:23:46Go on, hand them over.

0:23:46 > 0:23:50Thank you very...much!

0:23:50 > 0:23:53Mum, do the honours, let us in the house.

0:23:53 > 0:23:56Are you excited? In you go!

0:23:56 > 0:23:58THEY SQUEAL

0:24:00 > 0:24:04Just a few days ago, arts and crafts addicts Freya and Hattie

0:24:04 > 0:24:08were creatively cramped in the clutter of the family's front room.

0:24:08 > 0:24:11But with the girls in charge, mum ditched the junk

0:24:11 > 0:24:14and the I Want My Own Room team worked around the clock

0:24:14 > 0:24:19to come up with the design den of Freya and Hattie's dreams.

0:24:19 > 0:24:24Michelle has given the girls their own individual workstations

0:24:24 > 0:24:27so they can get creative without driving each other crazy.

0:24:27 > 0:24:29When not busy making and doing,

0:24:29 > 0:24:33they can hang out with friends in the comfy corner they'd wanted.

0:24:33 > 0:24:36After seeing how much fun Freya and Hattie had

0:24:36 > 0:24:38at the animation Workshop,

0:24:38 > 0:24:41Michelle has a special surprise with a unique area

0:24:41 > 0:24:44for them to make their own model movies.

0:24:44 > 0:24:45Under the girls' guidance,

0:24:45 > 0:24:48Michelle has made what she hopes is a perfect design den for them

0:24:48 > 0:24:52but does it have that all-important wow factor?

0:24:52 > 0:24:56No peeking, no peeking!

0:24:56 > 0:24:59- OK, are you ready?- Yes!

0:24:59 > 0:25:03Three, two, one.

0:25:15 > 0:25:20We've put some of the Plasticine models you've made, displayed them.

0:25:22 > 0:25:26There's the bed so your friends can chill out

0:25:26 > 0:25:28and maybe stay over on there.

0:25:28 > 0:25:32Now then, are you ready? All you have to do is...

0:25:35 > 0:25:36..that!

0:25:37 > 0:25:39That's amazing!

0:25:39 > 0:25:44And THAT is an animation station.

0:25:44 > 0:25:46It's got everything.

0:25:46 > 0:25:49This is the best thing ever.

0:25:49 > 0:25:53I'm not leaving, I'm not leaving!

0:25:55 > 0:25:59- You both wanted your own individual workstations, didn't you?- Yeah.

0:25:59 > 0:26:01Freya, this one is yours.

0:26:01 > 0:26:04You pull this out.

0:26:07 > 0:26:09And you've got... a sewing machine.

0:26:11 > 0:26:13And you can do your sewing there.

0:26:13 > 0:26:16Hattie, you got one very similar over there.

0:26:17 > 0:26:22I'm going to explode in a minute, seriously. This is amazing.

0:26:22 > 0:26:27- Oh, thank you so much. - Do you love it?

0:26:27 > 0:26:31What will mum and Ella make of the changes in the front room?

0:26:31 > 0:26:32Oh my God!

0:26:32 > 0:26:35Is it what you expected?

0:26:35 > 0:26:37No, I didn't know what to expect.

0:26:37 > 0:26:42I knew it was not going to be not expectedable - is that a word?

0:26:42 > 0:26:43It is now!

0:26:43 > 0:26:50- Michelle, thank you so much. - I just want to cuddle you!

0:26:55 > 0:26:59This room is amazing!

0:26:59 > 0:27:02What I initially thought was going to be really straightforward

0:27:02 > 0:27:04soon became really challenging.

0:27:04 > 0:27:06But the team cracked it,

0:27:06 > 0:27:10turning a horrible old room into a beautiful design den.

0:27:10 > 0:27:14I think Freya and Hattie are two of the happiest girls I've ever seen.

0:27:14 > 0:27:16We look in magazines, we look in things like that,
