0:00:10 > 0:00:13There's too many of you on this team who think you're better than

0:00:13 > 0:00:14what you are.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18Keep on the edge. No! Back, back, back.

0:00:20 > 0:00:24Making it as a champion skater doesn't come easy.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26It takes years of practice...

0:00:26 > 0:00:30- It's good! Keep going, keep going.- ..hard work...

0:00:30 > 0:00:34- One more, then I'll be a very happy coach.- ..and dedication.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37Yeah, yeah. Stop, let's go for it.

0:00:37 > 0:00:38Go for it, go for it, go for it...

0:00:41 > 0:00:45But even then, only a few will become tomorrow's...

0:00:51 > 0:00:55This is the Ice Centre in Nottingham. It's where future

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Ice Stars work hard to get to the top.

0:01:00 > 0:01:05With two rinks, it was built to honour Torvill and Dean,

0:01:05 > 0:01:08the city's famous Olympic gold medal winners.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15And there are plenty of others who want to follow in their footsteps.

0:01:21 > 0:01:25Coming up, things don't go to plan when Josh competes in Luxembourg.

0:01:25 > 0:01:29I cut my finger. I think I just sliced it with my blade.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32Kaira finds out that her dad's been keeping a life-changing secret...

0:01:32 > 0:01:36Kaira, what's your dad doing on the ice?!

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Huh?

0:01:38 > 0:01:41..and Rais and Aren meet head-to-head on the ice.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44I just want to beat my brother because I just want to be,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46I want to be better than him.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54It's a busy morning at the rink.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58All over the centre, rehearsals have started for the annual gala.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03But before they start practising for that, figure skaters Josh

0:02:03 > 0:02:06and Kloe have an international competition to prepare for,

0:02:06 > 0:02:10where they'll be representing Team GB.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13Coach Gurgen expects them to pull out all the stops.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16I would like it for my skaters to be champions everywhere,

0:02:16 > 0:02:19not just in national competitions,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21I would like it in international

0:02:21 > 0:02:24competitions, European, world, Olympics.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26Skating for Great Britain has meant

0:02:26 > 0:02:29that Kloe has made some huge sacrifices.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33I'm actually from Hungary, so my... Only me

0:02:33 > 0:02:37and my mum live in England and the rest of my family, my sister,

0:02:37 > 0:02:41my dad and my grandparents live in Hungary still.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45And we moved to England just for skating.

0:02:46 > 0:02:50School was definitely hard because of my English

0:02:50 > 0:02:52and because I didn't know anyone there.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58At first I remember not talking for about, I think,

0:02:58 > 0:03:02three months or something, but then

0:03:02 > 0:03:04I think one day I just thought,

0:03:04 > 0:03:07"You know what, I'm just going to try," and everyone understood what

0:03:07 > 0:03:10I was trying to say, so since then...I talk.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12SHE LAUGHS

0:03:12 > 0:03:15Kloe and Josh have practised hard for the competition,

0:03:15 > 0:03:19which will be in Luxembourg, but in training, Kloe injured her foot.

0:03:19 > 0:03:25Normally if I had an injury like this, I will stay off for at least four days.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28And then Josh struggled landing his new jumps.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31You've just got to make sure you get back up there and just keep going.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34But, ready or not, it's time to leave for Luxembourg.

0:03:39 > 0:03:43Kloe and Josh have just moved up to the junior level in competitions.

0:03:43 > 0:03:48They are travelling with friends Alexia and Becky, who compete at the novice level.

0:03:48 > 0:03:53I think we would all agree with each other that when going with parents,

0:03:53 > 0:03:56you're almost kind of mollycoddled, so it is better, it is better

0:03:56 > 0:03:59when you're on your own because you don't have someone fussing

0:03:59 > 0:04:03over you and you are allowed to concentrate and get in the zone.

0:04:03 > 0:04:07Josh and I normally keep ourselves to ourselves on international

0:04:07 > 0:04:10trips, but Kloe and Alexia giggle and take selfies.

0:04:12 > 0:04:15I told you I can't take photos with this hand.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21THEY LAUGH

0:04:24 > 0:04:28I look drunk. What is this?

0:04:28 > 0:04:31It is actually really funny because in the beginning, me

0:04:31 > 0:04:35and Kloe didn't get on at all, we actually really hated each other

0:04:35 > 0:04:39and we had quite a few arguments that got quite vicious.

0:04:39 > 0:04:44- No, this is bad. This is actually bad.- Why don't we do this way?

0:04:44 > 0:04:48- Because I don't like it that way. - Well, I do.- OK.- OK.

0:04:48 > 0:04:53Then, I think Budapest 2013, we had to share a room

0:04:53 > 0:04:57and I don't know what happened.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59We either insult each other and we'll be fine about it

0:04:59 > 0:05:04and we can make jokes and... Yeah, it is really good.

0:05:04 > 0:05:05I look so bad.

0:05:05 > 0:05:09- No, you don't.- I do.- OK, the first one was bad, but this...

0:05:09 > 0:05:11THEY LAUGH

0:05:18 > 0:05:20With just a short flight to go,

0:05:20 > 0:05:23it's not long before they touch down in Luxembourg.

0:05:27 > 0:05:28Here we go.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34Do you think I should hang dry my gloves, or wash them?

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Because they smell. Smell them.

0:05:39 > 0:05:41SHE LAUGHS

0:05:41 > 0:05:44- OK, wash them.- Should I?

0:05:44 > 0:05:47- You do one and I'll do the other. - OK.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50THEY LAUGH

0:05:51 > 0:05:54Oh. Oh. Anyway, high five.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56THEY LAUGH

0:05:56 > 0:05:59It's a figure skating life.

0:05:59 > 0:06:03The girls may all be good friends, but they are also rivals.

0:06:03 > 0:06:07Especially Alexia and Becky, who compete in the same group.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11We don't really focus on the fact we are competing against each other, I think.

0:06:11 > 0:06:15No matter what happens, we always come up to each other and congratulate each other.

0:06:16 > 0:06:21It is kind of weird, because we do get on, but then again we are

0:06:21 > 0:06:25rivals so there is that kind of rivalry...

0:06:25 > 0:06:27sort of friendship.

0:06:27 > 0:06:30When we are off ice, we are kind of friends.

0:06:30 > 0:06:34When we are on the ice, we're not friends at all, it is

0:06:34 > 0:06:36all about competition.

0:06:36 > 0:06:39They may not be showing any pre-competition nerves,

0:06:39 > 0:06:43but coach Gurgen is feeling the pressure.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46The parents pay everything.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49Kid's flight, kid's competition

0:06:49 > 0:06:54entry fee, the hotel, food, everything, you know.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57And...

0:06:57 > 0:07:01parents will be happy if kids are skating well here.

0:07:01 > 0:07:05Josh is used to winning his competitions. But moving up a level

0:07:05 > 0:07:07means things are going to be a lot tougher.

0:07:07 > 0:07:11In the programme, I mean, there is a lot more to worry about now I've got to the higher level.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14It's not like beginners any more, you know you're going to do...

0:07:14 > 0:07:17There is that bit of, "I hope I do this

0:07:17 > 0:07:19"and I hope I don't mess it up" sort of thing.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22As long as tomorrow I manage to get all my big stuff out on my jumps

0:07:22 > 0:07:24and my spins and get everything done really well,

0:07:24 > 0:07:28then hopefully I'll get myself in a good position for a podium place.

0:07:28 > 0:07:31With all his kit ready to go, there's nothing left to do

0:07:31 > 0:07:33but get a good night's sleep.

0:07:33 > 0:07:35Sweet dreams.

0:07:37 > 0:07:39At the home rink in Nottingham,

0:07:39 > 0:07:43synchro skater Kaira has been working towards her gold skating award.

0:07:43 > 0:07:47It is something her mum always wanted her to do.

0:07:47 > 0:07:49Last autumn, when Kaira's family were on holiday,

0:07:49 > 0:07:53mum Gillian tragically had a brain haemorrhage and later passed away.

0:07:53 > 0:07:58We've got all these pictures, like here,

0:07:58 > 0:08:01here, um, of our mum.

0:08:01 > 0:08:03Gill used to skate with the kids.

0:08:03 > 0:08:07She was the one that enjoyed going on the ice.

0:08:07 > 0:08:10So dad Tony decided to take secret skating lessons

0:08:10 > 0:08:13so he could keep the family tradition going.

0:08:13 > 0:08:16And now that he's conquered his fear of the ice,

0:08:16 > 0:08:18it's almost time for the reveal.

0:08:20 > 0:08:25It's Sunday morning at the Ice Centre, and a big day for Kaira.

0:08:25 > 0:08:29Today, she will find out if she's passed her gold-level skating award.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31- See you later, have a nice day. - Bye, Dad.

0:08:33 > 0:08:38Kaira has no idea her dad has been learning to skate in secret...

0:08:38 > 0:08:41Push forward and let the legs swing round.

0:08:43 > 0:08:46..and he's about to show her his new skills.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50Butterflies, my stomach is going, little bit of shakes.

0:08:50 > 0:08:52Exciting at the same time.

0:08:52 > 0:08:54I'd just like to see the response from Kaira.

0:08:54 > 0:08:58And fingers crossed, it is all going to go well.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01One last go now, your forward run, forward slip chassis,

0:09:01 > 0:09:04because I want to see you getting the slip chassis properly

0:09:04 > 0:09:07instead of waiting too long before you put the foot out.

0:09:09 > 0:09:13I think, to start off with, she will be more embarrassed that I have

0:09:13 > 0:09:17evaded the synchro lesson. Then I think she'll be happy she can see me on the ice

0:09:17 > 0:09:21and I've took some skating lessons, and I can go skating with them all.

0:09:21 > 0:09:25Kaira doesn't know it yet, but she's passed her gold.

0:09:25 > 0:09:27All right, Tony, here is Kaira's certificate,

0:09:27 > 0:09:31- she passed her gold dance today. - Fantastic, thank you.

0:09:31 > 0:09:36With Kaira now in her synchro class, it's time for the big surprise.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39She doesn't have a clue that her dad is just a few metres away

0:09:39 > 0:09:42and is about to make his skating debut.

0:09:47 > 0:09:50Has everybody been to ballet today? Who didn't go to ballet today?

0:09:50 > 0:09:52You had Skate UK and thingy, though.

0:09:56 > 0:10:00Kaira, what's your dad doing on the ice?!

0:10:00 > 0:10:01Huh?

0:10:02 > 0:10:03I don't know.

0:10:03 > 0:10:06Your dad can skate!

0:10:06 > 0:10:08I didn't know he could skate!

0:10:12 > 0:10:15- Whose skates are those?- Eh? Kaira,

0:10:15 > 0:10:19I'd like to present you with this. That's your gold award that you won today,

0:10:19 > 0:10:21that you passed. Yes.

0:10:21 > 0:10:26And guess what, Dad has been taking secret skating lessons...

0:10:26 > 0:10:30so that I can go skating with you and Ashley and Jack.

0:10:30 > 0:10:33- Give me a kiss and cuddle. Should we go for a skate?- No.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36- Come on, don't be shy! - Should we go for a skate?

0:10:40 > 0:10:42CHEERING

0:10:45 > 0:10:47SHE LAUGHS

0:10:47 > 0:10:49Kaira, your dad is skating faster than you!

0:10:51 > 0:10:53SHE LAUGHS

0:10:53 > 0:10:56CHEERING

0:10:59 > 0:11:01Come on!

0:11:01 > 0:11:04CHEERING

0:11:04 > 0:11:07- Not too fast. - HE LAUGHS

0:11:07 > 0:11:09Hey.

0:11:09 > 0:11:13- See, what did you think? You didn't think I could skate, did you?- No.

0:11:13 > 0:11:14Aw!

0:11:15 > 0:11:18That's so lovely.

0:11:18 > 0:11:22My heart is actually blubbering a little bit, isn't it? That's lovely.

0:11:22 > 0:11:24THEY ALL LAUGH

0:11:24 > 0:11:27I think I'd probably go shy if my dad came on the ice.

0:11:27 > 0:11:30OK, thanks, girls, see you all later.

0:11:30 > 0:11:32ALL: Bye!

0:11:33 > 0:11:36Kaira's dad is going to have to practise hard to keep up with her,

0:11:36 > 0:11:39but it looks like they'll enjoy that.

0:11:46 > 0:11:50Rais is an ice hockey player for the Nottingham Cougars.

0:11:50 > 0:11:52He also plays for the England squad

0:11:52 > 0:11:55and could soon be on his way to the big time.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58I think I was about six when I started skating.

0:11:58 > 0:12:02Actually, no, I was five. And I've always wanted to play ice hockey.

0:12:02 > 0:12:06I've been watching the pro team in Nottingham since I was born.

0:12:06 > 0:12:08I used to play hockey in the hallways or in the living room.

0:12:08 > 0:12:12And by the time I was seven, I played my first season at the under tens.

0:12:12 > 0:12:17Rais is not only reaching for the stars, he can almost touch them.

0:12:17 > 0:12:21I'm quite a tall guy, I'm six-foot four,

0:12:21 > 0:12:25and I have quite big feet, I'm size 13.

0:12:25 > 0:12:31In England, or anywhere in Britain, you can't get size 13 skates.

0:12:31 > 0:12:35Being so tall, Rais has to keep his energy levels up.

0:12:35 > 0:12:37- Are you guys hungry?- Yeah.

0:12:37 > 0:12:41Well, that's a silly question, really, isn't it?

0:12:41 > 0:12:43I don't think I've ever had the answer that you're not hungry.

0:12:45 > 0:12:48But Rais's mum not only has to keep him fed,

0:12:48 > 0:12:50there's his younger brother Aren, too,

0:12:50 > 0:12:52who also plays ice hockey.

0:12:53 > 0:12:56I started in this programme called Squirts.

0:12:56 > 0:12:59All I remember is I couldn't get on without falling over

0:12:59 > 0:13:01and it was very slippy.

0:13:01 > 0:13:05I'm not sure if he is going to be better than me in the end, but

0:13:05 > 0:13:09hopefully I will keep improving and in the end I will be better than him.

0:13:09 > 0:13:12I want him to be the best that he can be,

0:13:12 > 0:13:16but hopefully I will just be that little bit better.

0:13:16 > 0:13:19I want to get more trophies than my brother

0:13:19 > 0:13:23because it is just a little rivalry we have.

0:13:23 > 0:13:26Here we've got the Midlands Conference shirt.

0:13:26 > 0:13:29This shirt is the Midlands Conference shirt.

0:13:29 > 0:13:32Here, I've got every medal I've won.

0:13:32 > 0:13:38The one I'm most proud of, it's a medal where, a couple of months ago, we went to Amiens, in France.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41This is probably my most important trophy,

0:13:41 > 0:13:44my first ever man of the match award.

0:13:44 > 0:13:46A medal from the Best of British camp I did,

0:13:46 > 0:13:48from getting the hardest shot in the whole camp.

0:13:48 > 0:13:52This was my first trophy, and I got it when I was seven.

0:13:52 > 0:13:56Well, here we've got this plate, I think it is really cool.

0:13:56 > 0:13:58OK, boys, we get that you're good.

0:14:01 > 0:14:03Rais might have more medals,

0:14:03 > 0:14:07but that just makes Aren even hungrier to beat his older brother.

0:14:07 > 0:14:11There is a saying that says, "Hard work beats talent,"

0:14:11 > 0:14:13so even if you've got talent, you still need to work hard.

0:14:15 > 0:14:16That's better.

0:14:18 > 0:14:23- Rais helps me to get even better. - Go on, try and pick a corner, yeah?

0:14:24 > 0:14:26That's better, that's much better.

0:14:26 > 0:14:32Although the boys may share tips, it's all about who's the best.

0:14:32 > 0:14:36He drives himself to try be as good as me. Obviously, I want to beat my brother,

0:14:36 > 0:14:38I don't want my younger brother beating me in any way,

0:14:38 > 0:14:42but if he gets anything close to it, then in his age group

0:14:42 > 0:14:46he looks better, so it drives him to be a better player.

0:14:46 > 0:14:49But not everyone shares this love of late-night hockey.

0:14:49 > 0:14:52I was taking shots, obviously, and I think

0:14:52 > 0:14:55six or seven pucks went over

0:14:55 > 0:15:00and we cracked a hole in the gate. The neighbours,

0:15:00 > 0:15:03they complained, and my dad has now got to pay for a new

0:15:03 > 0:15:06panel in the gate, so they're not too happy about that.

0:15:08 > 0:15:09Straight in the hole.

0:15:13 > 0:15:16The day of the figure skating competition in Luxembourg

0:15:16 > 0:15:18has arrived.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21It's where the best young figure skaters from around the world

0:15:21 > 0:15:23come to compete.

0:15:23 > 0:15:25Josh, Kloe, Becky and Alexia

0:15:25 > 0:15:28have been selected to represent Great Britain...

0:15:29 > 0:15:32..and Josh is the first of the group up on the ice.

0:15:33 > 0:15:37Yeah, it is exciting, the first day, yeah. It's very exciting.

0:15:37 > 0:15:40It's not an event the public come to in hundreds

0:15:40 > 0:15:43but it's all about getting noticed by the judges...

0:15:43 > 0:15:46and Josh has a little tactic to get their attention.

0:15:49 > 0:15:52You've just got to smile at them, really, cos if you don't look very

0:15:52 > 0:15:54happy, they won't be very involved in the programme,

0:15:54 > 0:15:58so as long as you stay, like, happy, if you smile, they tend

0:15:58 > 0:16:02to like you more and they'll maybe give you more points, hopefully.

0:16:04 > 0:16:06Think I'm going to walk outside.

0:16:06 > 0:16:08As he's only just started at junior level,

0:16:08 > 0:16:11Josh has never competed against much older skaters...

0:16:11 > 0:16:14..like 18-year-old Adrian from France.

0:16:14 > 0:16:17You will get people that will try and intimidate you

0:16:17 > 0:16:20and will just generally look at other athletes like,

0:16:20 > 0:16:22"I'm going to beat you," sort of thing.

0:16:24 > 0:16:26When you psych other people out, they're not in their zone

0:16:26 > 0:16:28and they won't be able to perform to their best.

0:16:28 > 0:16:31One of the competitors, Michael from Denmark,

0:16:31 > 0:16:33has taken to the ice before him.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36He's older, bigger and more experienced.

0:16:36 > 0:16:39But Josh has something up his sleeve -

0:16:39 > 0:16:41a superstition that he hopes could just help him win.

0:16:41 > 0:16:44I always make sure I put my left boot on before my right boot,

0:16:44 > 0:16:46that's the only thing I ever do. I don't know why. I just do.

0:16:46 > 0:16:49Just something I've got into the habit of doing, I guess.

0:16:49 > 0:16:53But I think it helps. Well, we'll see, shall we, when we come off?

0:16:55 > 0:16:57Josh has been practising a triple jump

0:16:57 > 0:17:00and his rivals are only doing doubles.

0:17:00 > 0:17:04- Most of guys skating with double lutz.- Yeah.- OK?

0:17:04 > 0:17:05We are doing extra triple.

0:17:09 > 0:17:11You good now, OK, man? Come on.

0:17:21 > 0:17:22If Josh can land his triple,

0:17:22 > 0:17:25this newbie could be looking at a win.

0:17:27 > 0:17:29Josh lines up for the big loop.

0:17:32 > 0:17:36He's hesitated and goes for a different jump instead.

0:17:45 > 0:17:47APPLAUSE

0:17:48 > 0:17:49COACH SIGHS

0:17:50 > 0:17:53He's frustrated, knowing that he's made a mistake.

0:17:53 > 0:17:55Now he has to face coach Gurgen.

0:17:55 > 0:17:57Yeah, single.

0:17:57 > 0:18:00You can do double or triple but single is no point, you know.

0:18:00 > 0:18:01It's massive.

0:18:03 > 0:18:06You have to learn skating without mistake.

0:18:06 > 0:18:10But when Josh feels overwhelmed, Gurgen softens.

0:18:10 > 0:18:15I'm not upset but that I would like, if you not will do that.

0:18:15 > 0:18:19It wasn't how I wanted it to go. I mean, there was some...

0:18:19 > 0:18:22big mistakes in there that cost a lot of points

0:18:22 > 0:18:24and dropped us a lot of places so...

0:18:24 > 0:18:26I think I feel disappointed cos I just wasn't concentrating.

0:18:26 > 0:18:29It's just annoying to fly out here and do all your preparation for

0:18:29 > 0:18:32months to do this and your moment that you've had just goes wrong.

0:18:32 > 0:18:35I need Kloe to come here and cheer me up. Kloe always cheers me up.

0:18:35 > 0:18:37She's always good at doing that.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39Kloe's come to the rescue.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42I think if Kloe wasn't here and Kloe hadn't moved here

0:18:42 > 0:18:45from Hungary, then I don't really, perhaps, know what I would have done.

0:18:45 > 0:18:46So I'm really glad that Kloe is here

0:18:46 > 0:18:49and obviously she's my best friend as well, so it makes it even better.

0:18:49 > 0:18:53It's time for the girls now, and Kloe's up next.

0:18:53 > 0:18:56She was disappointed with her performance here last year,

0:18:56 > 0:18:59but she's determined not to let that knock her confidence.

0:18:59 > 0:19:02I just want to do better than I did last year

0:19:02 > 0:19:05and, just for myself, I just want to do everything I can.

0:19:06 > 0:19:11Just don't be scared. Go and doing your job. This is yours. OK?

0:19:14 > 0:19:17I'm on in about ten minutes, I think.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20Nervous now.

0:19:20 > 0:19:23I hope she is skating better than last year

0:19:23 > 0:19:24and she will have a better result.

0:19:24 > 0:19:29Please, OK? Clever and fighting for all. Kloe, please, you can do that.

0:19:29 > 0:19:30Come on.

0:19:35 > 0:19:38I always get really nervous, so that's not very nice,

0:19:38 > 0:19:40but I guess everyone does.

0:19:45 > 0:19:48It's a good start and her friends are with her all the way.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00If she can manage her new jump, the competition could be hers.

0:20:02 > 0:20:04After months of practice, this is it.

0:20:09 > 0:20:10Oh, she's fallen.

0:20:13 > 0:20:16But in competitions, it's all about the recovery.

0:20:18 > 0:20:21If the judges think Kloe's takeoff was good enough,

0:20:21 > 0:20:23they might not mind her falling.

0:20:23 > 0:20:24APPLAUSE

0:20:25 > 0:20:29Sometimes we have days when we fall on jumps that we can literally

0:20:29 > 0:20:33do in our dreams and that's when you just think, "What's happening?"

0:20:33 > 0:20:37Kloe recovered well but coach Gurgen isn't happy.

0:20:37 > 0:20:40You lose now two and a half points for this axle

0:20:40 > 0:20:42because it will be under rotated.

0:20:42 > 0:20:46If you will do clean and then fell... but you did under rotated and fell.

0:20:50 > 0:20:53And now the painful wait for the scores.

0:20:54 > 0:20:58Some people actually don't wait for their scores if they skate bad,

0:20:58 > 0:21:00but our coaches don't let us do that,

0:21:00 > 0:21:04so we have to stay there even though sometimes we look sad.

0:21:04 > 0:21:09I never really cry there, cos I think it's embarrassing cos I'm just

0:21:09 > 0:21:11going to do better next time.

0:21:11 > 0:21:14While more and more competitors take to the ice,

0:21:14 > 0:21:17all Josh and Kloe can do is hope they do better tomorrow.

0:21:20 > 0:21:23Back in Nottingham, it's time for brothers Rais

0:21:23 > 0:21:28and Aren to meet on the ice for a little bit of sibling rivalry.

0:21:28 > 0:21:31I think my brother's pretty good. Definitely.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33I think he's a bit better than I was when I was his age.

0:21:33 > 0:21:37There's always a friendly competitiveness.

0:21:37 > 0:21:41Rais and Aren are obviously brothers that really work hard

0:21:41 > 0:21:44together and actually, I think, bounce off each other

0:21:44 > 0:21:46and I think that's quite key.

0:21:46 > 0:21:48You see them out on the ice enjoying themselves,

0:21:48 > 0:21:51but also there's obviously that sibling rivalry.

0:21:51 > 0:21:53I definitely try to be way better than my brother,

0:21:53 > 0:21:55cos if he scores goals against the goalie that I can't,

0:21:55 > 0:21:57I mean, that does not look good.

0:21:57 > 0:21:59Oh, nice one, Rais.

0:22:08 > 0:22:10Oh, no, Aren's missed.

0:22:12 > 0:22:15Aren, you know when you shoot the puck,

0:22:15 > 0:22:18it needs to go a bit harder and a bit more early, cos the goalie...

0:22:18 > 0:22:21Your dekes aren't really working till you shoot it.

0:22:21 > 0:22:22If he's giving you a bit of net, just use it.

0:22:22 > 0:22:24Good advice, Rais.

0:22:24 > 0:22:27Let's see if that helps.

0:22:27 > 0:22:28Yes!

0:22:28 > 0:22:30So, big brothers can be useful after all.

0:22:30 > 0:22:33The best thing about being on the ice with my brother is that we

0:22:33 > 0:22:38can see how each other's doing and help each other with our game.

0:22:38 > 0:22:41You know, it's always nice to see the younger of the two

0:22:41 > 0:22:45actually sometimes win over and it really challenges Rais to

0:22:45 > 0:22:48actually make sure he's on his game - but I guess with Aren, it also

0:22:48 > 0:22:51pushes him along to make him a better player as well.

0:22:56 > 0:23:00It's day two of the international figure skating competition

0:23:00 > 0:23:03in Luxembourg and time for Alexia and Becky to see

0:23:03 > 0:23:06if either of them can make it to the international top ten.

0:23:08 > 0:23:10They'll skate in the novice category.

0:23:12 > 0:23:16The girls arrived together but from now on, it's each to their own.

0:23:16 > 0:23:19It's also kind of hard when you get to a competition

0:23:19 > 0:23:24and on the day, we are kind of quite standoffish and we won't really talk.

0:23:24 > 0:23:30I mean, after we skate, she'll either hug me first if I've skated after her

0:23:30 > 0:23:36or I'll hug her first, but before that it's pretty much a non-talking show.

0:23:40 > 0:23:43Alexia hopes to wow the judges with a double flip.

0:23:49 > 0:23:51But then Becky lands her perfectly, too.

0:23:55 > 0:23:59Alexia is known for her body-bending spins,

0:23:59 > 0:24:01but Becky has her own up her sleeve.

0:24:01 > 0:24:02APPLAUSE

0:24:04 > 0:24:08Both girls have put in performances to be truly proud of.

0:24:08 > 0:24:12It's competitive, but we really enjoy it

0:24:12 > 0:24:17and we don't mind who comes higher or who comes lower.

0:24:17 > 0:24:21We're happy for each other no matter what happens.

0:24:21 > 0:24:24Let's hope they're still happy when they get the scores.

0:24:25 > 0:24:28I'm eighth and Becky's tenth.

0:24:28 > 0:24:31Top ten. Good.

0:24:31 > 0:24:34Top ten for both girls. Wow.

0:24:34 > 0:24:36Can Kloe do the same with her second routine?

0:24:38 > 0:24:42OK? Come on. Go.

0:25:02 > 0:25:04Poor Kloe. She's fallen again.

0:25:04 > 0:25:07But this time, has she entered the jump well enough to score

0:25:07 > 0:25:09the points she needs?

0:25:11 > 0:25:14She's performed an amazing routine.

0:25:14 > 0:25:16Although she's not happy with her fall,

0:25:16 > 0:25:18Gurgen reminds her of the positives.

0:25:18 > 0:25:22You have to keep that because your spin was really good now.

0:25:22 > 0:25:26All spins was good. Beautiful, laid-back, you know. Flying.

0:25:26 > 0:25:28Just one second, you just...

0:25:28 > 0:25:32After the fall, you just, one second, lost yourself.

0:25:32 > 0:25:36Overall, I came around 20th, so I could have done so much better

0:25:36 > 0:25:40and I think I could have been in the top ten at least, so...

0:25:40 > 0:25:44It's probably the worst feeling after a competition, cos I just think

0:25:44 > 0:25:46I just want to go back straightaway on the ice

0:25:46 > 0:25:49and I just want to do better, cos I know I can.

0:25:49 > 0:25:52But Josh still has a chance to turn things around.

0:25:52 > 0:25:55You can't just dwell on yesterday and then ruin today's performance.

0:25:55 > 0:25:58You've got to make sure today's a new start, a different programme,

0:25:58 > 0:26:01so you've just got to start from the beginning, start fresh again.

0:26:10 > 0:26:14He needs a better performance today if he wants a place on the podium.

0:26:24 > 0:26:25Perfect landing, Josh.

0:26:25 > 0:26:27This is looking good.

0:26:36 > 0:26:37Even Gurgen is smiling.

0:26:39 > 0:26:40APPLAUSE

0:26:40 > 0:26:41Yes!

0:26:41 > 0:26:42Great performance.

0:26:43 > 0:26:46But he's looking worried.

0:26:46 > 0:26:47Come out.

0:26:50 > 0:26:54I cut my finger just before I was about to go on, so, yeah,

0:26:54 > 0:26:56I had to deal with that halfway round.

0:26:56 > 0:26:59I think I just sliced it with my blade.

0:26:59 > 0:27:00It looks pretty bad.

0:27:03 > 0:27:05I definitely felt like I did better than yesterday.

0:27:05 > 0:27:09There's still one group to go and I'm currently in second place so...

0:27:09 > 0:27:11But hopefully I won't drop too many places

0:27:11 > 0:27:14and we'll stay within hopefully top five, maybe top seven.

0:27:17 > 0:27:19- Oh.- Two points...- BOTH: ..off third!

0:27:19 > 0:27:20THEY LAUGH

0:27:22 > 0:27:25We lost the bronze medal today.

0:27:25 > 0:27:29But I'm happy, because Josh today showed for me he can fight.

0:27:29 > 0:27:32He did very, very good flip, very good lutz.

0:27:32 > 0:27:34But Kloe is disappointed with her performance.

0:27:34 > 0:27:38I just think that Luxembourg is not my place to compete.

0:27:38 > 0:27:41I'm not going to lie, but that's what I think.

0:27:41 > 0:27:44But if we do come back next year, I'll try my best again

0:27:44 > 0:27:46and I hope it will go better.

0:27:52 > 0:27:53Next time on Ice Stars...

0:27:54 > 0:27:58..the ice dance girls go to the disco in search of new partners...

0:28:00 > 0:28:03..speed skater Izzy pushes herself to the limit...

0:28:03 > 0:28:05Yeah, it's really tough.

0:28:05 > 0:28:09..and there's a surprise in store for birthday girl Kloe.

0:28:09 > 0:28:11- Read it out loud.- I'm going to cry!
