0:00:02 > 0:00:04Previously on Ice Stars...

0:00:04 > 0:00:06I'd like to get an Olympic medal.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09I mean, I know that's ages and ages away.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11I think I'm willing to do whatever it takes.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14I've been wanting to do it since I was six,

0:00:14 > 0:00:15so I don't want to stop now.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18This year I'm feeling quite confident about...

0:00:18 > 0:00:21I'm just getting a lot better than what I did last year.

0:00:21 > 0:00:25Izzy, you got 10.4, which is really good.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28And, Jess, you got 10.3, so that's really, really, really good.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Obviously, for us, the kids,

0:00:31 > 0:00:35we were devastated about what happened to her.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37She went 40 years too early.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39This picture here,

0:00:39 > 0:00:44Dad calls it a kissing picture, and we kiss it every night.

0:00:44 > 0:00:45'She is the one that

0:00:45 > 0:00:48'enjoyed going on the ice, and I don't want that legacy to stop.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51'I want them to carry on doing everything.'

0:00:53 > 0:00:57Here's Ella! Ella's here. I didn't even recognise it was her

0:00:57 > 0:00:59cos I never see her in a skirt! Come here!

0:00:59 > 0:01:01How are you?

0:01:02 > 0:01:03Good morning, skaters.

0:01:03 > 0:01:07This is not a guarantee of getting a partner.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10I don't think anything's going to come out of it.

0:01:34 > 0:01:35Better.

0:01:35 > 0:01:39Coming up... Can Izzy stay on track for selection to the GB team?

0:01:39 > 0:01:42I'm finding it pretty tough.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45Ella and Lauren forget all about finding partners and look at other

0:01:45 > 0:01:47ways of following a career on the ice...

0:01:47 > 0:01:49So we'll see you in a few years, then.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52- Thank you. - ..and, for the first time ever,

0:01:52 > 0:01:56all skating disciplines are set against each other when they meet

0:01:56 > 0:01:58head-to-head for an off-ice challenge.

0:01:58 > 0:01:59Ugh! It's lumpy.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Rais, we're hockey players, we don't do baking.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05- I- don't do baking.- I feel sick.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07- Look at that!- Oh!

0:02:16 > 0:02:19So, how do you do a helicopter?

0:02:19 > 0:02:20Do it like that on the front.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23Circle some wings in it, couple of circles on top.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25That's looking at it from the front.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28After their mum sadly passed away, Kaira,

0:02:28 > 0:02:32Ashlei and their dad tried all sorts of things to keep them feeling

0:02:32 > 0:02:35- positive.- Kaira, what's your dad doing on the ice?!

0:02:35 > 0:02:37HE LAUGHS

0:02:37 > 0:02:39Yep, Dad even learnt to skate!

0:02:39 > 0:02:41- CHEERING - Not TOO fast.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45Now they've come up with a great idea -

0:02:45 > 0:02:48to raise money for the air ambulance team that helped their mum.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52So I've been thinking about the next charity things we can do and I've

0:02:52 > 0:02:54come up with the idea of either a sponsored walk

0:02:54 > 0:02:56or a baking challenge.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58So what do you think is going to be the best thing?

0:02:58 > 0:03:03I think a walking one is good, but a bake challenge would be better.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06We might be able to get lots of people involved

0:03:06 > 0:03:08and raise lots of money.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12But bake sales need bakers.

0:03:12 > 0:03:16So they'll have to drum up support from the other ice stars.

0:03:16 > 0:03:20- I think we'll put one up here, look. - Is that straight?

0:03:20 > 0:03:23The flyers are all finished and my dad did it on the computer, they

0:03:23 > 0:03:25- look really good.- Big stretch.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31The ice stars never get to compete against each other just for laughs.

0:03:31 > 0:03:32- Thank you.- See you.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34THIS looks like a lot of fun.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37It DOES look like good fun.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40- What are we going to do? - I have no idea.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42Looks like they're going to enjoy this.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44All the information's on the leaflet.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46- Thank you.- Thank you.

0:03:46 > 0:03:47What can we make?

0:03:47 > 0:03:49I don't know. What are you good at making?

0:03:49 > 0:03:51I've never baked, really.

0:03:51 > 0:03:56We can do like a skate on top with icing sugar or something.

0:03:56 > 0:03:59Definitely. That sounds like a really good idea.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02We know our skaters are experts ON the ice,

0:04:02 > 0:04:06but when it comes to the kitchen, hmm, what could possibly go wrong?!

0:04:16 > 0:04:18Solo ice dancers Lauren and Ella

0:04:18 > 0:04:21are amongst some of the hardest-working skaters at the rink.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24And this morning, they're on the ice early

0:04:24 > 0:04:27for another gruelling practice.

0:04:27 > 0:04:31Morning. I just wanted to have a little bit of a catch-up with you

0:04:31 > 0:04:33after the partner try-outs.

0:04:33 > 0:04:35- How do you think it went? - Skating-wise it was OK,

0:04:35 > 0:04:39but there wasn't, like I expected, there wasn't many boys there.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43There was one boy that was really small, so...

0:04:43 > 0:04:46I think you did really well to pick yourself up and dust yourself off

0:04:46 > 0:04:48like that, and get back out there.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed, won't we,

0:04:50 > 0:04:52for this upcoming season, and see what happens?

0:04:57 > 0:04:59When you're training, sometimes

0:04:59 > 0:05:01it's just really nice to forget about partners.

0:05:01 > 0:05:04Just getting your mind off that and having a nice time

0:05:04 > 0:05:06with one of your friends.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11So what have you got planned coming up?

0:05:11 > 0:05:14At the weekend, we're going to see a skating show.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16- Are you?- Me and Ella are going out for a day out to go see one.

0:05:16 > 0:05:20Lots of skating friends my age that went on into skating shows

0:05:20 > 0:05:22and travelled the world...

0:05:22 > 0:05:24Really excited.

0:05:24 > 0:05:26It's going to be nice just being the two of us.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29The girls may not have found their perfect skating partner,

0:05:29 > 0:05:33but they're training hard and having fun on the ice together,

0:05:33 > 0:05:35which is what it's all about.

0:05:39 > 0:05:41Across the rink...

0:05:42 > 0:05:43Quite a lot's changed.

0:05:43 > 0:05:47At the moment, I'm training twice a week on the ice with Team GB.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49Ready? Go!

0:05:49 > 0:05:51Izzy and friend Jess have been training

0:05:51 > 0:05:54alongside some of the Olympic speed skaters all season.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57My team-mate, Jess, we train together.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00She's very strong and we're quite evenly matched,

0:06:00 > 0:06:02so it's nice to have that competition

0:06:02 > 0:06:03as well as having that friendship.

0:06:03 > 0:06:06But a few weeks ago, disaster struck for Jess.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11I was in second place and with one and a half laps to go,

0:06:11 > 0:06:13the girl behind me decided to go

0:06:13 > 0:06:18inside and there was literally no space. So she went straight into me.

0:06:20 > 0:06:21Broke my ankle.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26The girl got a penalty, so I got the bronze medal

0:06:26 > 0:06:28in the 500 metres, still.

0:06:29 > 0:06:34Overall, I'm not going to be on the ice for like eight weeks.

0:06:34 > 0:06:37Just devastating. It means she's going to be out for a long time.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40It's just upsetting for me cos I don't have a training partner but

0:06:40 > 0:06:43obviously for her because she's stuck at home.

0:06:43 > 0:06:44In a couple of days,

0:06:44 > 0:06:48Izzy will be racing an annual competition called Star Class.

0:06:48 > 0:06:50If she comes in the top eight,

0:06:50 > 0:06:53she'll go through to the European Championships.

0:06:53 > 0:06:57Today, she's prepping for the Star Class with her coach, Paul.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00Today is all about the quality skating.

0:07:00 > 0:07:04What I want is you to have that opportunity to skate properly

0:07:04 > 0:07:08and skate well. First, all our pushes need to be longer and slower.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11Your pushes were just quicker than everyone else's,

0:07:11 > 0:07:13quicker, shorter and having to push harder,

0:07:13 > 0:07:17whereas if you get the same amount of force but over a longer period,

0:07:17 > 0:07:19you can relax so then it becomes much easier.

0:07:19 > 0:07:21- Yeah?- Mm-hm, yeah. Thank you.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33Key thing that I'm really looking for is that power in her push.

0:07:33 > 0:07:35At the moment, she's got nice... She's smooth,

0:07:35 > 0:07:38she's technically good, but the pushes aren't as powerful as I want

0:07:38 > 0:07:40them to be. If we can start getting that power down,

0:07:40 > 0:07:43then I think she'll come on really well.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46Better. More side push, Izzy, on the straight.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50Some were better. Some not so much.

0:07:50 > 0:07:53Sometimes the stroke pushes weren't very good.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56Whenever I did it, I just felt less relaxed.

0:07:56 > 0:08:00OK. But realistically when you're skating,

0:08:00 > 0:08:04you need to be able to do proper pushes. OK?

0:08:04 > 0:08:06Yeah. I'll keep trying.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09I'm finding it pretty tough.

0:08:17 > 0:08:20What did you do differently on that one?

0:08:22 > 0:08:23I just...

0:08:24 > 0:08:26I tried to keep it moving.

0:08:26 > 0:08:29OK. That one looked ten times better.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31The pushes were longer and you looked like you were keeping up

0:08:31 > 0:08:33easier. I don't know what the overall speed was,

0:08:33 > 0:08:37but that one looked much more comfortable, much better skating.

0:08:37 > 0:08:38- Yeah?- Thank you.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42So, my coach said it's looking better, which is good.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44So I've just got to keep focusing on it

0:08:44 > 0:08:47and making sure that it stays like that.

0:08:48 > 0:08:52If Izzy uses what she's learnt today and skates well at the Star Class,

0:08:52 > 0:08:56she'll go straight through to the European Championships.

0:08:56 > 0:09:00That'll bring her closer to join the GB team full-time.

0:09:00 > 0:09:02Then, next step - Olympics.

0:09:11 > 0:09:12All over Nottingham,

0:09:12 > 0:09:16our ice stars are embarking on a very different kind of competition.

0:09:16 > 0:09:18One that doesn't involve skates.

0:09:18 > 0:09:21Do you think we can make one?

0:09:21 > 0:09:26We could put like a skate on it and we can write "Klosh" on it.

0:09:26 > 0:09:29- Klosh.- Kloe and Josh.- Yeah. - Let's do it.

0:09:29 > 0:09:31Let's go.

0:09:31 > 0:09:33Come on, Klo-bo, we've got this.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35- Let's get the chocolate out.- Yeah.

0:09:35 > 0:09:36Two of these.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39I've never baked a cake and I don't think Josh has,

0:09:39 > 0:09:41but we'll give it our best.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45- Is it starting to melt now? - Yeah, yeah.- Yeah?

0:09:45 > 0:09:47There's not much skill or background behind us,

0:09:47 > 0:09:50so I'm hoping it'll be edible - if not we're just going to go on looks.

0:09:50 > 0:09:53If our looks are good enough, then they might want to try it anyway.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55They might just be like - that cake, that looks good.

0:09:55 > 0:09:57It needs to be perfect, come on.

0:09:57 > 0:10:01- Yeah.- Klosh aren't the only ice stars in the kitchen.

0:10:01 > 0:10:05- That's terrible.- Rais, we're hockey players, we don't do baking.

0:10:05 > 0:10:06I don't do baking.

0:10:06 > 0:10:08Have you made cakes before?

0:10:08 > 0:10:10- Yeah.- Did it go well?

0:10:10 > 0:10:11Not really!

0:10:12 > 0:10:14OK. More.

0:10:16 > 0:10:17That's it, that's it.

0:10:20 > 0:10:215oz of flour.

0:10:23 > 0:10:27- Oh, that's perfect. - The battle for the best bake is on.

0:10:28 > 0:10:29(It's really good.)

0:10:31 > 0:10:35I really don't see how this is going to fill up all those cupcakes.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37Oh, I forgot, I can put some...

0:10:37 > 0:10:39No, you don't put sprinkles in the mixture!

0:10:39 > 0:10:41- I'm doing it.- Oh, chocolate chips!

0:10:42 > 0:10:44- Ugh! It's lumpy. - Oh, it's fine.

0:10:46 > 0:10:47Add the egg.

0:10:49 > 0:10:52- Seriously? - Yeah, I love cracking eggs.

0:10:52 > 0:10:53OK, carry on mixing.

0:10:53 > 0:10:54I feel sick.

0:10:57 > 0:10:58Look at that, Klo!

0:10:58 > 0:11:01- Oh!- Oh, that looks good.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05It isn't moist enough, it's too lumpy.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07- Aren, it's fine.- It's not.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10- Get off.- Please.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12- Stop.- Please!- Stop!

0:11:12 > 0:11:14You need to fold it in.

0:11:14 > 0:11:16Is this what you do when you fold?!

0:11:17 > 0:11:19Right, OK.

0:11:19 > 0:11:21I'll fold, I'll fold!

0:11:22 > 0:11:24THEY CHUCKLE

0:11:36 > 0:11:38- That's nice.- It's really good.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42That's it.

0:11:42 > 0:11:44Did you put more cocoa in it?

0:11:47 > 0:11:48Don't burn your hand.

0:11:48 > 0:11:50Right, let's pray.

0:11:50 > 0:11:51They don't fit in!

0:11:52 > 0:11:54Yeah, they do.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58They do. We're going to put it in. I don't care.

0:11:58 > 0:12:01- Oh, that's hot. - Obviously. It's an oven.

0:12:01 > 0:12:03The bottom one's closer to the fire.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05Just do the top one, just do any one.

0:12:06 > 0:12:10The skaters-turned-bakers have done themselves proud.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13But will their creations tempt people to part with their cash?

0:12:14 > 0:12:15That looks really nice.

0:12:24 > 0:12:28Today, solo ice dancers Lauren and Ella are off to the seaside.

0:12:28 > 0:12:29Banana.

0:12:29 > 0:12:31Oh, no, that's not funny. Urgh.

0:12:38 > 0:12:40In you go.

0:12:40 > 0:12:43Push the door, off we go.

0:12:43 > 0:12:45Today we're in Brighton and we're going to be watching

0:12:45 > 0:12:50- a Holiday On Ice show. - I haven't been to any shows before,

0:12:50 > 0:12:53so I'm really looking forward to watch this one.

0:12:53 > 0:12:56Today's going to be a really good opportunity to see if it's what

0:12:56 > 0:12:58we want to do for, like, our future career.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00It's been really fun being out just with Ella,

0:13:00 > 0:13:02and we can just joke and laugh around.

0:13:02 > 0:13:03Stand here.

0:13:03 > 0:13:04THEY LAUGH

0:13:04 > 0:13:07- I'm sitting here!- No! Go away! - THEY LAUGH

0:13:14 > 0:13:16CHEERING

0:13:16 > 0:13:18STEEL DRUMS PLAY

0:13:23 > 0:13:25That'd be so scary.

0:13:29 > 0:13:32# Heaven must have sent you

0:13:32 > 0:13:36# No, I don't know where you come from baby...

0:13:38 > 0:13:40I really like the costumes.

0:13:40 > 0:13:43# Heaven must have sent you

0:13:45 > 0:13:46# Heaven must have sent you

0:14:00 > 0:14:03# Heaven must have sent you

0:14:15 > 0:14:18# Heaven must have sent you. #

0:14:21 > 0:14:24Whoa, what an impressive show!

0:14:24 > 0:14:28And things are about to get even more exciting, as our ice stars head

0:14:28 > 0:14:32backstage to meet some of the professional ice dancers.

0:14:32 > 0:14:35- Hi.- Hi!- Hello!- How are you?- I'm good. I'm Lauren. Nice to meet you.

0:14:35 > 0:14:39- I'm Lara.- I'm Lauren. - Pleased to meet you.- Karen.

0:14:39 > 0:14:41- What did you think of the show? - It was really, really good.

0:14:41 > 0:14:44- You were really good. I really like your costumes.- Thank you.

0:14:44 > 0:14:49- Do you guys skate?- Yeah.- Since I was five.- Five?- So, six years.

0:14:49 > 0:14:53- Yeah, I've been skating six years, too.- Yeah.- And you want to try...

0:14:53 > 0:14:55- the show?- Show girls, yeah.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58So, Lauren, what kind of skating do you do?

0:14:58 > 0:15:02I do solo dance, yeah, so obviously I'm looking for a partner, but...

0:15:02 > 0:15:03if it doesn't happen,

0:15:03 > 0:15:06I still want to know if there are opportunities for it.

0:15:06 > 0:15:07Yeah, absolutely.

0:15:07 > 0:15:11My entire life, I trained as a pairs skater with my brother, actually.

0:15:12 > 0:15:15And...a few years ago, I got injured,

0:15:15 > 0:15:18so we parted ways. I was heartbroken.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21I was like, "I don't have a partner.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24"This is what I've trained at my entire life.

0:15:24 > 0:15:26"NOW what am I supposed to do?"

0:15:26 > 0:15:30But now I'm semi-principal soloist on this show, so it's really cool.

0:15:30 > 0:15:33- That's really nice.- Yeah.- If you don't have a partner, just keep

0:15:33 > 0:15:37- going, because it's what we need, here, in the show.- Good.

0:15:37 > 0:15:38So, we'll see you in a few years, then?

0:15:38 > 0:15:41- Definitely.- Or next year, or whenever you feel like you want

0:15:41 > 0:15:43- to audition.- Thank you. Thank you.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46- Good luck.- Thank you. Good luck in your show.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48- Good luck. Enjoy.- Nice to meet you.

0:15:50 > 0:15:52'I really liked watching the show and I think,

0:15:52 > 0:15:55'if I worked really hard, I could definitely do it.'

0:15:55 > 0:15:57Even on your own, you can do really, really well.

0:15:57 > 0:16:01So it hasn't made me feel that bad about not having a partner

0:16:01 > 0:16:03because she has done so well just on her own.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06'I think it'll be really cool to go in shows

0:16:06 > 0:16:08'and travel all over the world,

0:16:08 > 0:16:11'with a pair or by yourself.'

0:16:11 > 0:16:14If I don't find a partner, then doing shows

0:16:14 > 0:16:16would be a really good idea.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32It's the day of the big cake sale.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37Our ice stars have been making cakes to raise money for the air ambulance

0:16:37 > 0:16:40that helped Kaira and Ashlei's mum.

0:16:42 > 0:16:45The others seem to be, like, quite chocolatey and ours tends to be...

0:16:45 > 0:16:47We've got meringue and a raspberry filling and stuff,

0:16:47 > 0:16:48so it's quite different.

0:16:48 > 0:16:52It took a long time and it was really hard to make our cake.

0:16:52 > 0:16:53Everyone else's cakes look like...

0:16:53 > 0:16:56- I don't know. - They looked really good, yes.

0:16:56 > 0:16:59They looked better than ours. Ours looks healthy.

0:16:59 > 0:17:01- Ours looks nice.- I think our cakes look absolutely rubbish

0:17:01 > 0:17:03compared to everyone else's.

0:17:03 > 0:17:06Our cake looks really good next to all the rest.

0:17:06 > 0:17:08I think it's holding its own,

0:17:08 > 0:17:12but everybody else has done really good cakes as well.

0:17:12 > 0:17:15I'm really pleased that everybody's done an effort

0:17:15 > 0:17:18to raise money for this charity

0:17:18 > 0:17:22and that they've all wanted to take part.

0:17:22 > 0:17:25I'm hoping they raise as much money as they can.

0:17:29 > 0:17:32Skaters and coaches from all over the Ice Centre

0:17:32 > 0:17:35are excited to taste our ice stars' creations

0:17:35 > 0:17:38and donate as much as possible.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41These cakes are amazing.

0:17:41 > 0:17:42Did you make any, Kaira?

0:17:42 > 0:17:44- Yeah.- Which one did you make?

0:17:44 > 0:17:46Wow.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51Give me the money.

0:17:51 > 0:17:55The cash is pouring in and the cakes are disappearing.

0:17:56 > 0:17:57Thank you very much.

0:17:59 > 0:18:02I'm going for chocolate. I'll have some of this as well.

0:18:07 > 0:18:12The charity we're raising money for is very important to us,

0:18:12 > 0:18:15because it's in memory of our mum.

0:18:17 > 0:18:20People are coming in and buying cakes, and...

0:18:20 > 0:18:22it's brilliant.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28It was really nice to make cakes, especially with Josh,

0:18:28 > 0:18:31because we've never really done anything like this together

0:18:31 > 0:18:34and also it's really good cos it was for a good cause.

0:18:34 > 0:18:37The real winners are definitely the cake-lovers.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39Everyone made amazing cakes.

0:18:39 > 0:18:41They honestly all taste amazing.

0:18:41 > 0:18:45I think that is the start and the end of our baking careers as we made

0:18:45 > 0:18:47cupcakes, and we couldn't even do that.

0:18:47 > 0:18:51They were just bad, so I don't think we'll be doing baking again at all.

0:18:51 > 0:18:54- At all.- What if we have our own spin-off show?

0:18:54 > 0:18:56No. We won't be doing baking again.

0:18:58 > 0:19:02It was really nice to see that we're raising, like, money for charity.

0:19:03 > 0:19:07It's been really impressive today, where all the different people,

0:19:07 > 0:19:10from ice hockey to figure skating, to synchronised skating,

0:19:10 > 0:19:12they've all come together, they've all helped out.

0:19:15 > 0:19:18It's amazing that a lot of people have put so much effort in

0:19:18 > 0:19:21and spent their time making their cakes.

0:19:21 > 0:19:22Right, OK, girls.

0:19:22 > 0:19:25£111.95.

0:19:25 > 0:19:26Fantastic news.

0:19:28 > 0:19:29I feel surprised.

0:19:29 > 0:19:32THEY GIGGLE

0:19:34 > 0:19:37- Well done.- Eugh!

0:19:39 > 0:19:41You're not supposed to wipe it off!

0:19:49 > 0:19:52So, it's the morning of the Star Class.

0:19:52 > 0:19:53I'm feeling really nervous,

0:19:53 > 0:19:56but definitely can't wait to get out there.

0:19:57 > 0:20:01Half of Europe will come together and compete against each other.

0:20:01 > 0:20:03It's a massive one for me,

0:20:03 > 0:20:05in terms of qualifying for the European finals.

0:20:06 > 0:20:08If I qualify for this European final,

0:20:08 > 0:20:11it will lead to bigger competitions

0:20:11 > 0:20:14and hopefully, one day, the Olympics.

0:20:14 > 0:20:18Izzy is the youngest person training with the GB team but,

0:20:18 > 0:20:20if she's to become a full-time member,

0:20:20 > 0:20:24she needs to show coach Paul what she's like under pressure.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28This is a big competition, but it's something that Isabelle needs

0:20:28 > 0:20:31to get used to if she wants to get the Olympic medal.

0:20:33 > 0:20:35I just like to make sure that I have a good start,

0:20:35 > 0:20:37it's not just about results.

0:20:37 > 0:20:40I've got to make sure that I'm skating well, and confidently.

0:20:40 > 0:20:44I've got to make sure that I'm using my tactics well -

0:20:44 > 0:20:46and try not to fall over!

0:20:46 > 0:20:49Coach Mandy has competed in the Olympics herself.

0:20:49 > 0:20:52She's been training Izzy since she was six years old,

0:20:52 > 0:20:55hoping that, one day, she'll follow in her footsteps.

0:20:55 > 0:20:58Today's racing is really important for Isabelle

0:20:58 > 0:21:01cos she's fighting for a full-time place on the squad.

0:21:01 > 0:21:03So, Paul, the GB coach,

0:21:03 > 0:21:07will be watching, as well as myself, so she needs to have the grit

0:21:07 > 0:21:10and determination to make sure she gets a good result.

0:21:10 > 0:21:14Just let your skates work. Let your skates do the work, yeah?

0:21:14 > 0:21:17- Yeah? OK? - Yeah.- So you know what you're doing.

0:21:17 > 0:21:18This competition's really tough.

0:21:18 > 0:21:21We're talking about the best people in Western Europe.

0:21:21 > 0:21:24From countries like Holland, from France, from Germany.

0:21:24 > 0:21:27So, she's really up against the best that Europe's got here.

0:21:30 > 0:21:32Izzy's got a 1,500 metres,

0:21:32 > 0:21:34so that the longest distance that she has to do.

0:21:34 > 0:21:37What we're looking for from Isabelle, today,

0:21:37 > 0:21:40is really taking advantage of those tactics and starting to get some

0:21:40 > 0:21:41better results.

0:21:42 > 0:21:45With the 1,500 metres, obviously, tactics are really important.

0:21:45 > 0:21:49So when that gun goes, even though you do have 13 and a half laps,

0:21:49 > 0:21:51you've got to be in the right place straightaway.

0:21:54 > 0:21:56Qualifications were top three.

0:21:56 > 0:21:57So, I was trying to make sure

0:21:57 > 0:22:00that I was within that top three the whole time.

0:22:00 > 0:22:01Come on!

0:22:10 > 0:22:13'In the middle of the race, I was in the right position.

0:22:13 > 0:22:16'I was sitting in second, which is quite a good position to be in.'

0:22:16 > 0:22:18You're not out in the front getting tired,

0:22:18 > 0:22:20but you're not right at the back getting stuck.

0:22:20 > 0:22:22'Tactically, it was all going well.'

0:22:22 > 0:22:25Start to move up!

0:22:25 > 0:22:27'Mandy was shouting at me and I was trying to keep going

0:22:27 > 0:22:29- 'as much as I could.'- Move up!

0:22:29 > 0:22:31- Up! - 'I could feel my legs burning up.'

0:22:31 > 0:22:33Nice, Izzy!

0:22:35 > 0:22:38Towards the end of the race, I could feel someone coming behind me and,

0:22:38 > 0:22:40obviously, cos I was in third position,

0:22:40 > 0:22:42I knew it was going to be tight.

0:22:42 > 0:22:44Go, go, go! Let's go!

0:22:46 > 0:22:47'I was on the last lap

0:22:47 > 0:22:50'and a girl from Holland overtook me at the inside.'

0:22:53 > 0:22:54Come on, Isabelle!

0:22:54 > 0:22:56- All the way!- 'When she overtook me,

0:22:56 > 0:22:59'I tried to hold on, but my legs were just completely burnt out.'

0:23:01 > 0:23:04I got fourth in that, which is obviously devastating

0:23:04 > 0:23:08cos that's 13 laps that you've done where you've been in the right

0:23:08 > 0:23:10position and then to be pipped on that last lap...

0:23:10 > 0:23:12So, tactics-wise,

0:23:12 > 0:23:15I think the race was a lot better than I've previously raced.

0:23:15 > 0:23:17Sort of, those last two laps,

0:23:17 > 0:23:21I started getting tired and a girl came up my inside on the last lap,

0:23:21 > 0:23:23and then she managed to qualify and I didn't,

0:23:23 > 0:23:26which is quite frustrating, obviously.

0:23:26 > 0:23:28Staying in that top three was really important.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31I kind of knew that I didn't qualify then.

0:23:33 > 0:23:35You raced, tactically, much better.

0:23:35 > 0:23:38You moved when you needed to move, you were up near the front,

0:23:38 > 0:23:40someone made a move, you moved back up.

0:23:40 > 0:23:42- Yeah.- They were going round the outside.

0:23:42 > 0:23:45The girl moved wide, you took advantage and went up the inside.

0:23:45 > 0:23:47She tried to get past, you blocked her. It was just,

0:23:47 > 0:23:49unfortunately, the last lap but, other than that,

0:23:49 > 0:23:50it was much, much better.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55Although she hasn't qualified to go to the European finals,

0:23:55 > 0:24:00Izzy has one race left to skate, and she's not giving up yet.

0:24:00 > 0:24:02It is quite a tough race, but I think,

0:24:02 > 0:24:04if I just keep doing the tactics that have been,

0:24:04 > 0:24:06hopefully it should all go OK.

0:24:08 > 0:24:09'I was excited to, sort of,

0:24:09 > 0:24:13'prove myself again and to get it all right this time.

0:24:18 > 0:24:21'With the final, I wanted to make sure that I was out of trouble.

0:24:21 > 0:24:24'I had quite a hard start, managed to get into third.

0:24:28 > 0:24:30There was a lot of pushing going on and,

0:24:30 > 0:24:33when there's a lot of pushing going on, there's likely to be falls

0:24:33 > 0:24:35at some point so I just made sure to, sort of,

0:24:35 > 0:24:38kind of, sneak my way up the inside to the front

0:24:38 > 0:24:39and get out of that trouble.

0:24:44 > 0:24:46'Normally, I wouldn't go to the front,

0:24:46 > 0:24:48'you're tiring yourself out but,

0:24:48 > 0:24:52'because I was so determined to not get into any trouble or fall over,

0:24:52 > 0:24:54'and I knew that all the good skaters were behind me,

0:24:54 > 0:24:58'so I was kind of waiting for them to move around or pick up the pace.'

0:25:04 > 0:25:05Then I hear everyone falling over,

0:25:05 > 0:25:08and I look around and it's all of the fast skaters.

0:25:13 > 0:25:16And then, at that point, I was just like, "Right, I need to go now."

0:25:18 > 0:25:20'But if I'd been, sort of, in third place,

0:25:20 > 0:25:21'I would have been in that fall.

0:25:21 > 0:25:25'So, it was nice to be out in front and out of trouble.'

0:25:45 > 0:25:48The bell went for the last lap and I could hear a Dutch skater coming up

0:25:48 > 0:25:51behind me, and I was like, "No, this can't happen again!

0:25:51 > 0:25:53"I don't want to be overtaken again on the last lap!"

0:26:02 > 0:26:03'This time, I managed to hold on.'

0:26:12 > 0:26:15I managed to win. It was really tight, because the girl was, like,

0:26:15 > 0:26:19closing the gap on me but, yeah, I just managed to pip her at the line.

0:26:19 > 0:26:22My tactics, in that race, were to stay in the front and,

0:26:22 > 0:26:24every time someone overtakes,

0:26:24 > 0:26:26to just make sure to overtake them back into second.

0:26:26 > 0:26:30Yay! Excellent! Yeah, well done.

0:26:30 > 0:26:31Excellent. Brilliant.

0:26:31 > 0:26:34- Thanks.- Tactics were so different this time - why?

0:26:34 > 0:26:36Yeah, it feels different. I don't know.

0:26:36 > 0:26:38I just feel a bit more confident, I think.

0:26:38 > 0:26:40I was really pleased with Izzy.

0:26:40 > 0:26:41She had a tough first race,

0:26:41 > 0:26:44and she didn't quite make it through on that.

0:26:44 > 0:26:47Her next race, she really nailed, and she did it convincingly,

0:26:47 > 0:26:48and that's one of the key things

0:26:48 > 0:26:51that I'm looking for when we're working towards

0:26:51 > 0:26:53who we want to bring into our GB team.

0:26:53 > 0:26:55The ultimate goal, at the end of the day,

0:26:55 > 0:26:57is to participate in the Olympic Games.

0:26:57 > 0:26:59And if Paul is still impressed,

0:26:59 > 0:27:03hopefully I might have a shot at taking part in that.

0:27:03 > 0:27:05Well done, Izzy!

0:27:05 > 0:27:07It looks like you're still in with a chance

0:27:07 > 0:27:09of joining the GB team full-time.

0:27:11 > 0:27:12Next time on Ice Stars...

0:27:14 > 0:27:17Ice hockey player Liam takes on his biggest challenge yet.

0:27:17 > 0:27:19Hard, Liam! Hard, Liam!

0:27:19 > 0:27:21Good boy.

0:27:21 > 0:27:23- Push!- There's drama for Amy and the Icicles

0:27:23 > 0:27:26ahead of their big competition.

0:27:27 > 0:27:29I was so scared.

0:27:29 > 0:27:31I couldn't breathe properly.

0:27:31 > 0:27:34And when Kloe and Becky head to the British Championships...

0:27:34 > 0:27:36Go on, Becky. Go.

0:27:36 > 0:27:38..guess who's back?
