0:00:02 > 0:00:03Previously on Ice Stars...

0:00:03 > 0:00:07We've come here to get some inspiration for our programme.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09Everyone hold this pose.

0:00:09 > 0:00:13Whatever you do in Bollywood, just make sure it's overly exaggerated.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16It's given us such inspiration.

0:00:16 > 0:00:20This season I've got a new partner, and she's called Lucy.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22She's very, very talented.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24Everything is just working really well for us,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27and we're hoping we can carry this through to the future

0:00:27 > 0:00:29and see where it takes us.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45CHEERING

0:00:45 > 0:00:48It's the day of the British Championships,

0:00:48 > 0:00:51and the Icicles need to fight hard to defend their title...

0:00:51 > 0:00:53We've come here as the reigning champions,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55and that adds a lot of pressure.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57..but, after seconds on the ice, it's not looking good.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59GROANING

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Aren tries out for the Conference League,

0:01:01 > 0:01:04and a chance to be spotted by the international scouts...

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Scouts from other countries come to that tournament,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09because they know that's where the best players will be.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12..and it's make or break time for ice dancing duo Jucy.

0:01:12 > 0:01:16They're both quite stubborn in nature,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18and it does cause some problems on the ice.

0:01:18 > 0:01:19Wait...

0:01:19 > 0:01:22Yeah, I didn't think you were going to jump into me, there.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33When you're an ice star, there's no such thing as a lie-in.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41For Jucy, it's another 5am start.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48In the mornings, when I'm really tired,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50I don't tend to say much,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53and I think that gets on Lucy's nerves quite a lot.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55What time are you getting home, then?

0:01:55 > 0:01:565.00.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01Josh can be quite quiet,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04like, just going through the motions kind of thing.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07It is a bit strange, like, because I'm so full of energy,

0:02:07 > 0:02:08and he's not so much,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10so I'm having to, like, tone it down a bit.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13Jucy skated really well together when they met.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15They just need to work on their chemistry,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18but things haven't gone as well as expected.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20When me and Lucy first got together, it was all right.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24We got on quite well, getting, like, used to each other at first,

0:02:24 > 0:02:27but then we started arguing quite a lot.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Yeah, I didn't think you were going to jump into me, there.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31That's what I mean.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34When I did it, you said to go back across.

0:02:34 > 0:02:39Josh and Lucy are very well matched in terms of their goals and

0:02:39 > 0:02:41their aspirations for the future.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44All the work we do side by side needs to come in, yeah?

0:02:44 > 0:02:46Having a little bit more awareness of each other,

0:02:46 > 0:02:49keeping an eye out for each other, yeah?

0:02:49 > 0:02:53The issue that they have is their personalities clash quite a lot.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57They're both quite stubborn in nature,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59and it does cause some problems on the ice.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02- Now it's just the normal chasses. - Yeah.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04And then next, like, is double chasse.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06- Oh, I see, it's all starting... - And then we change.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08It's not like we don't like each other.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10It's just that when we're on the ice,

0:03:10 > 0:03:13we kind of focus on arguing with each other more than

0:03:13 > 0:03:15the actual skating...

0:03:15 > 0:03:18You can't do... You didn't even do the second one.

0:03:18 > 0:03:22..and I think it's stopping us from being able to progress together.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25We've had some times when we bicker and fall out.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29I'd say he is really committed to doing things right,

0:03:29 > 0:03:31like, he's a bit of a perfectionist.

0:03:31 > 0:03:35I think me and Josh just have skating in common, really.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38Well, they're going to have to find something to bring them together,

0:03:38 > 0:03:39and quickly.

0:03:39 > 0:03:43The biggest event in the ice dance calendar is just days away.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46So, the British Championships are coming up really soon.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48You need to just really work hard,

0:03:48 > 0:03:50so you know what your goals are for the competition.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53We want to be British champions, don't we?

0:03:53 > 0:03:55OK? So let's work hard.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59I really want things to work out for them,

0:03:59 > 0:04:03but, unfortunately, if you find it difficult to get on with that person

0:04:03 > 0:04:07that you've got to see six days a week, then it can be really hard.

0:04:07 > 0:04:11It can make training a chore rather than something that you enjoy.

0:04:11 > 0:04:12For Josh and Lucy,

0:04:12 > 0:04:15there is more at stake at the British Championships than simply

0:04:15 > 0:04:17getting on the podium...

0:04:17 > 0:04:19If nothing's improved at the British,

0:04:19 > 0:04:23then we're not sure whether we're going to carry on skating together.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27..so it seems like make or break time for Jucy

0:04:27 > 0:04:28is just around the corner.

0:04:45 > 0:04:46Earlier this season,

0:04:46 > 0:04:49ice hockey player Rais was spotted by a talent scout,

0:04:49 > 0:04:52and picked to play for a top Canadian hockey school.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56It's something I've always wanted to do since I was a little kid,

0:04:56 > 0:05:01just play at a high level, so it was a dream come true, really.

0:05:01 > 0:05:05Younger brother Aren is also hoping that he'll soon get his big break.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10I'm really proud of Rais going away and getting spotted out in Canada,

0:05:10 > 0:05:14so I hope that I could be as good as that one day

0:05:14 > 0:05:16and have the opportunity to do that.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18Tonight, Aren's come to a Conference trial,

0:05:18 > 0:05:22where he's hoping to get reselected for his regional team.

0:05:22 > 0:05:25My brother played for Midlands, and that's how he got spotted,

0:05:25 > 0:05:29so hopefully I can make Midlands and hopefully go down that route.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32But it won't be easy.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35Every year, around 60 hopefuls battle it out for one of just

0:05:35 > 0:05:3817 places on the squad.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40You can't coast now, guys.

0:05:40 > 0:05:41You can't coast.

0:05:41 > 0:05:45Whether he gets selected or not is a decision for Aren's coaches.

0:05:45 > 0:05:47So, you've got to now start thinking like a proper hockey player.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49Just go out there tonight, yeah,

0:05:49 > 0:05:51and just do exactly what you've done from the very start,

0:05:51 > 0:05:52which is work hard.

0:05:52 > 0:05:53I know all of you.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55I know exactly what you're capable of,

0:05:55 > 0:05:58but I also know, as well, what your little frailties are.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00I'm looking for your perfect game,

0:06:00 > 0:06:01and that's the most important thing.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04- Let's go, boys!- Go, boys!

0:06:04 > 0:06:07So tonight we're playing a game against the Northern Conference,

0:06:07 > 0:06:10and this following week they're going to tell us if we've been

0:06:10 > 0:06:12selected for the final team or not,

0:06:12 > 0:06:15and hopefully I'll play well and make it.

0:06:15 > 0:06:17As one of the youngest players on the ice,

0:06:17 > 0:06:20Aren's got to work even harder to impress the coaches.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22- WHISTLE BLOWS - This season I've been really,

0:06:22 > 0:06:25like, pushing hard, because I want to succeed,

0:06:25 > 0:06:28and this is the age group where everyone else is getting bigger and

0:06:28 > 0:06:31stronger, and you have to match that and be even better than them.

0:06:31 > 0:06:35# I'm gonna live my life like it's never enough

0:06:35 > 0:06:37# Like I'm born to run

0:06:37 > 0:06:41# I'm gonna spend my time like tomorrow won't come

0:06:41 > 0:06:43# Do whatever I want

0:06:43 > 0:06:45# Like I'm born to run... #

0:06:45 > 0:06:47To get in Conference, you've got to have a great attitude,

0:06:47 > 0:06:48a great work ethic.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51Somebody like Aren, he works hard on the ice.

0:06:51 > 0:06:53He's, you know, one of the first to get changed,

0:06:53 > 0:06:55first out and ready to be on the ice as well.

0:06:55 > 0:06:56He brings a lot to the table, but, like I say,

0:06:56 > 0:07:00so do the other guys that are trying to look for a spot as well.

0:07:00 > 0:07:04Conference is a huge deal because you get to go and play

0:07:04 > 0:07:06in the biggest tournament in the UK,

0:07:06 > 0:07:09and, like, even scouts from other countries come to that tournament,

0:07:09 > 0:07:12because they know that's where the best players will be.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15BUZZER, WHISTLE BLOWS

0:07:15 > 0:07:20If you make the team, you know that people think good of you,

0:07:20 > 0:07:21and people think that you're a good player,

0:07:21 > 0:07:25so hopefully I'll make it.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28Aren will just have to be patient until he hears if he got through.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39- How much cooking stuff do you have? - I know...

0:07:39 > 0:07:42Lucy's best friend Anna has come round to give her moral support,

0:07:42 > 0:07:46as her struggles with Josh are playing on her mind.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48Oh, yeah.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50It looks like scrambled eggs.

0:07:55 > 0:07:5714... 14 minutes?

0:08:03 > 0:08:05So, what's your routine like for the next competition?

0:08:05 > 0:08:07It's a really nice routine.

0:08:07 > 0:08:09I think it brings out the character in me and Josh,

0:08:09 > 0:08:14and there's always loads of tricks and stuff to wow the judges.

0:08:17 > 0:08:20So, how well do you tend to get on with Josh?

0:08:20 > 0:08:21We get on pretty well.

0:08:21 > 0:08:26Yeah, there's times where if it's a really early start,

0:08:26 > 0:08:30we're both, like, tired and we both often don't really speak as much,

0:08:30 > 0:08:32because it's really early morning,

0:08:32 > 0:08:35and I know he's not much of a morning person.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37I understand that.

0:08:37 > 0:08:40But so far, yeah, it's going good.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43Me and Josh, like, we're quite good at taking criticism,

0:08:43 > 0:08:45and we're good at taking it off each other,

0:08:45 > 0:08:49so we're constantly helping each other to improve.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51Um...

0:08:51 > 0:08:54LUCY EXHALES

0:08:54 > 0:08:56So, what does it feel like to be in the situation that you are,

0:08:56 > 0:08:58like, not sure whether you're going to be

0:08:58 > 0:09:00skating with Josh again after the British?

0:09:00 > 0:09:02Well, I'm not too sure, to be honest,

0:09:02 > 0:09:05because he's always mentioning how he enjoys having,

0:09:05 > 0:09:07like, a normal life,

0:09:07 > 0:09:08like, meeting up with friends and that,

0:09:08 > 0:09:12and I can never really tell if it's because of the partnership

0:09:12 > 0:09:16or because he just doesn't enjoy it any more.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19When me and Josh are skating, we have such a good partnership,

0:09:19 > 0:09:21and sometimes we do fall out,

0:09:21 > 0:09:27but the fact that that might all go away is, like...

0:09:27 > 0:09:31..quite upsetting, really, because I know we've trained so hard together

0:09:31 > 0:09:32and got along quite well,

0:09:32 > 0:09:37and we've done so much and spent so much time together.

0:09:37 > 0:09:39It really is quite sad.

0:09:39 > 0:09:43Lucy's doing all she can to make her partnership with Josh work,

0:09:43 > 0:09:46but any relationship can be complicated.

0:09:46 > 0:09:49It makes baking cakes seem simple.

0:09:49 > 0:09:50Let's have a sneak peek.

0:09:52 > 0:09:55- They just need a bit more browning on the top.- Yeah.

0:09:55 > 0:09:56A few more minutes, then.

0:10:01 > 0:10:02But for the Icicles...

0:10:02 > 0:10:04- How's everyone feeling? - Good.- Excited, yeah.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06..the day of reckoning is here.

0:10:12 > 0:10:13- ALL:- Whoo!

0:10:13 > 0:10:14It's the British today.

0:10:16 > 0:10:19To hold on to their title as British champions, the Icicles have to be

0:10:19 > 0:10:22number one in their category. CHEERING

0:10:22 > 0:10:2560 teams across all categories have come to Nottingham,

0:10:25 > 0:10:27desperate to win a title.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29We've come here as the reigning champions,

0:10:29 > 0:10:30and that adds a lot of pressure,

0:10:30 > 0:10:33because we can't be complacent with our routine...

0:10:33 > 0:10:35You've got to smile. You've got such a good face.

0:10:35 > 0:10:40..so we need to really, really focus and keep our eye on the prize.

0:10:40 > 0:10:41That was good, wasn't it?

0:10:41 > 0:10:43Yeah, man!

0:10:43 > 0:10:45Yeah, man!

0:10:45 > 0:10:48But the team also have their sights set on an even higher goal.

0:10:48 > 0:10:50Right, are we ready, second group?

0:10:50 > 0:10:52The British is really important for the girls,

0:10:52 > 0:10:55because if they win the competition and they get the score

0:10:55 > 0:10:58that they need, then that allows them, then, to be able to

0:10:58 > 0:11:01go to World Championships, which this year is in Canada.

0:11:01 > 0:11:05Not only are we trying to defend our title of being British champions,

0:11:05 > 0:11:07which we have been for the last four or five years now,

0:11:07 > 0:11:09but we really want to win,

0:11:09 > 0:11:12just so that we can feel confident that we will end up

0:11:12 > 0:11:14going to the Worlds in Canada,

0:11:14 > 0:11:16which I think all the girls are really excited about.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18Five, six, seven...

0:11:18 > 0:11:20To try and secure a win at the championships

0:11:20 > 0:11:21and a place at the Worlds,

0:11:21 > 0:11:24the Icicles have taken a huge risk,

0:11:24 > 0:11:28with their most complicated routine ever,

0:11:28 > 0:11:31and, so far, it hasn't been easy.

0:11:32 > 0:11:34People are getting sloppy.

0:11:34 > 0:11:35Shh!

0:11:35 > 0:11:37You guys had absolutely zero speed down.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40I don't even know how you managed to do the spiral.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42The Bollywood routine is quite hard to grasp,

0:11:42 > 0:11:46because we were training so, so hard, and...

0:11:46 > 0:11:48It just wasn't quite there.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51Bollywood's quite energetic and intense,

0:11:51 > 0:11:52cos you're on the go all the time.

0:11:52 > 0:11:54Yeah, there's a lot more arm movements.

0:11:56 > 0:11:57Skippity-skip, step, step.

0:11:57 > 0:11:59Where is the pushing?

0:11:59 > 0:12:01Go again.

0:12:01 > 0:12:03When we did go for the Bollywood theme,

0:12:03 > 0:12:05we knew that it wouldn't be an easy thing to pull off,

0:12:05 > 0:12:07because obviously it's such a big dance theme.

0:12:07 > 0:12:09It's definitely the most trickiest routine

0:12:09 > 0:12:11that they've ever had before.

0:12:12 > 0:12:15A risky routine isn't the only worry.

0:12:15 > 0:12:16At the end of last season,

0:12:16 > 0:12:21the four most experienced skaters left the team.

0:12:21 > 0:12:25This year we do have a few younger skaters skating with the Icicles,

0:12:25 > 0:12:30so it makes it more tricky, definitely.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32Georgia is one of the newest team members.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35How are you feeling about the Bollywood today, Georgia?

0:12:35 > 0:12:37Are you nervous, or more excited?

0:12:37 > 0:12:38I get nervous when we stand by the side of

0:12:38 > 0:12:40the barrier before we get on.

0:12:40 > 0:12:41- That's when I get nervous.- Yeah.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44I'm nervous because it's just that everybody's watching you.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46You just don't want to make a mistake, cos you're not

0:12:46 > 0:12:48letting yourself down, you're letting everybody down.

0:12:48 > 0:12:52Because we've made our programme a lot harder this year,

0:12:52 > 0:12:54it's obviously harder for the younger ones.

0:12:54 > 0:12:56They've been thrown in the deep end.

0:12:56 > 0:12:59We need to make sure we've got all of our arms right in our Bollywood

0:12:59 > 0:13:01- routine, because it is really hard. - Yeah.

0:13:01 > 0:13:03It's something that we've never really done before,

0:13:03 > 0:13:05so that might make it a bit harder,

0:13:05 > 0:13:07but I'm really confident that we can pull it off.

0:13:08 > 0:13:11There is a big gap between the younger ones and the older ones

0:13:11 > 0:13:13on the team this season,

0:13:13 > 0:13:15but I'm hoping that we've bridged that.

0:13:15 > 0:13:17We all have worked so hard together.

0:13:17 > 0:13:19The whole team's going to be there to support you.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21- Yeah, definitely.- Cos I remember when I first joined, as well,

0:13:21 > 0:13:24and all of them were so old, even...

0:13:24 > 0:13:26Alex was in it, and I thought Alex was scary!

0:13:29 > 0:13:32It's my first time at...with Icicles at the British,

0:13:32 > 0:13:36so I am feeling a bit nervous.

0:13:36 > 0:13:40Just getting all the arms correct for, erm,

0:13:40 > 0:13:45Bollywood, I don't want to be the one to go wrong and mess it up.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48It's definitely a gamble and a risk that we're taking,

0:13:48 > 0:13:51but we've just got to hope that it pays off and actually gives us more

0:13:51 > 0:13:53points at the end of the competition.

0:13:54 > 0:13:57At the end of the season, teams with enough points qualify

0:13:57 > 0:13:59for the British Championships... CHEERING

0:13:59 > 0:14:02..and if their score is high enough on the day,

0:14:02 > 0:14:03they not only win the cup

0:14:03 > 0:14:06but qualify for the World Championships, too.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08One, two, three, four.

0:14:08 > 0:14:12But today, the only team close to the Icicles' current lead

0:14:12 > 0:14:14are right here.

0:14:15 > 0:14:18And left, right, left.

0:14:18 > 0:14:21Step. Chasse.

0:14:22 > 0:14:27Meet the Solway Stars,

0:14:27 > 0:14:29who are determined to take the cup off the Icicles

0:14:29 > 0:14:31and back home to Scotland.

0:14:33 > 0:14:35For months at their home rink in Dumfries,

0:14:35 > 0:14:37the junior team have been busy training for

0:14:37 > 0:14:41their first ever British Championships.

0:14:41 > 0:14:43When you get to a level like juniors,

0:14:43 > 0:14:45you need to really push yourself.

0:14:45 > 0:14:47We know it's going to be tough against the Icicles,

0:14:47 > 0:14:52so you can't just keep doing the old stuff that you've always done.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55I'd say this team is really talented.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58We're having to push ourselves, so everyone's responding really well

0:14:58 > 0:15:00to the challenges that we're facing.

0:15:00 > 0:15:04The Solway Stars only got together officially in 2016.

0:15:04 > 0:15:07You know, I can remember when they first all started

0:15:07 > 0:15:09on our learning to skate programme,

0:15:09 > 0:15:12so I've watched them come through from their first steps onto the ice

0:15:12 > 0:15:15to where they are today.

0:15:20 > 0:15:23I like to be competitive, along with my team.

0:15:23 > 0:15:26The Icicles are strong, and they always come up with good programmes.

0:15:26 > 0:15:30From the moment that you get to that rink, you're wanting to be the best.

0:15:33 > 0:15:35CHEERING If the Icicles are going to

0:15:35 > 0:15:36beat the Solway Stars,

0:15:36 > 0:15:40they'll have to match them, not only in skills but in passion too.

0:15:40 > 0:15:42You have had so many people come up to you

0:15:42 > 0:15:43saying how much they love you.

0:15:43 > 0:15:47Do it for the people and yourselves.

0:15:48 > 0:15:50It's an anxious time for the Icicles,

0:15:50 > 0:15:53as the Solway Stars take to the ice first.

0:15:53 > 0:15:55CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:15:59 > 0:16:03All the Icicles can do now is wait and watch.

0:16:03 > 0:16:05CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:16:06 > 0:16:08WHISTLING

0:16:20 > 0:16:22I think it was a wake-up call for all of us.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25Having another team against you definitely brings on the pressure.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28- Solway definitely put 110% in.- Yeah.

0:16:28 > 0:16:29But I think once you step on the ice,

0:16:29 > 0:16:32it's like, "I've got to compete now. I'll put 150% in."

0:16:32 > 0:16:35- Yeah.- But it's good, it's healthy having competition,

0:16:35 > 0:16:37cos sometimes we're complacent.

0:16:37 > 0:16:39Yeah, it makes you fight for it more, as well.

0:16:39 > 0:16:41CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:16:47 > 0:16:49CHEERING

0:16:53 > 0:16:55What a brilliant performance from the Solway Stars.

0:17:04 > 0:17:06INDISTINCT TANNOY ANNOUNCEMENT

0:17:06 > 0:17:09SCREAMING It's a fantastic result -

0:17:09 > 0:17:12a personal best of 61.3.

0:17:13 > 0:17:15For the first time in five years,

0:17:15 > 0:17:19it looks like the Icicles could be going home empty-handed.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22Because Solway got a previous score that we had actually got

0:17:22 > 0:17:24- at a previous competition.- Yeah.

0:17:24 > 0:17:27It was quite scary, because we thought,

0:17:27 > 0:17:29"Well, they've caught up to us now."

0:17:29 > 0:17:31- Yeah.- We're going to have to try and do better.

0:17:31 > 0:17:34You can do this. Go. Come on, girls.

0:17:34 > 0:17:36- We're going to do you proud. - Yes, Cara!

0:17:36 > 0:17:39I think all of my girls know that they have to bring more to the show,

0:17:39 > 0:17:42and it's not just about the points, it's actually about winning.

0:17:42 > 0:17:46Just one skate stands between the Icicles and skating glory...

0:17:47 > 0:17:49Let's hug it out.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52- CHEERING AND APPLAUSE - Go for it.

0:17:52 > 0:17:56..and sometimes the waiting can be the hardest part.

0:18:07 > 0:18:09Aren, what do you want on your sandwiches, darling?

0:18:09 > 0:18:10I'll have cheese. Yeah.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12Do you want butter on them?

0:18:12 > 0:18:14- Yes, please.- All right.

0:18:14 > 0:18:15Since the start of the season,

0:18:15 > 0:18:19ice hockey player Aren and his family have been adjusting to life

0:18:19 > 0:18:21without big brother Rais.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23It's a bit weird, him not being around here, Mum.

0:18:23 > 0:18:24I just find it so quiet.

0:18:24 > 0:18:26And now I've just got, like, Dad nagging at me

0:18:26 > 0:18:28whenever I do anything wrong.

0:18:28 > 0:18:30But remember when you wanted to be...

0:18:30 > 0:18:32You kept saying, "Oh, it'd be quite nice to be an only child."

0:18:32 > 0:18:36- No?- No.- So it's not as good as you thought it was going to be?

0:18:36 > 0:18:38After being spotted by an international scout,

0:18:38 > 0:18:4215-year-old Rais was selected to go and play for a team in Canada.

0:18:42 > 0:18:45You're definitely not having my room, not a chance.

0:18:46 > 0:18:48OK, that's not what Mum said.

0:18:48 > 0:18:50Well, it definitely is what Mum said,

0:18:50 > 0:18:52because she said you're definitely not having my room

0:18:52 > 0:18:53because it's my room.

0:18:53 > 0:18:55Mum, please can I have Rais's room?

0:18:56 > 0:18:57No, you can't have his room.

0:18:57 > 0:18:59No-one's in it.

0:18:59 > 0:19:02It's one of the biggest rooms in the house and no-one's using it.

0:19:02 > 0:19:09Like, imagine how much tidier my room would be if it was in his room.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11There's double the amount of space so it means there's

0:19:11 > 0:19:15double the amount of space to get dirty.

0:19:15 > 0:19:17Yes, I am willing to make that compromise.

0:19:17 > 0:19:21I am willing to clean my room more often, just so I get that room.

0:19:21 > 0:19:22The answer is no.

0:19:29 > 0:19:33The problem with my room is it is so small, I can't do anything.

0:19:33 > 0:19:35I don't even have the space to hang things up,

0:19:35 > 0:19:37and I can touch wall-to-wall.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45So basically, this is Rais's room.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47As you can see, it is a lot bigger, and I don't really think

0:19:47 > 0:19:49I can touch the walls in this one.

0:19:52 > 0:19:55So, basically, what I'm going to do is I'm going to get a couple of

0:19:55 > 0:19:59things from my wall and I'm going to swap them with things in

0:19:59 > 0:20:01Rais's room, so that when we're video-chatting,

0:20:01 > 0:20:03he'll think that I've actually got it.

0:20:11 > 0:20:12It's almost go time.

0:20:12 > 0:20:13Let's see his reaction.

0:20:13 > 0:20:16COMPUTER CHIMES

0:20:16 > 0:20:18Aren's prank isn't the only reason he wants to catch up with

0:20:18 > 0:20:20his big brother.

0:20:20 > 0:20:22So, Rais, are you all right?

0:20:22 > 0:20:23Yeah, I'm fine, thanks.

0:20:23 > 0:20:27He has exciting news for Rais about his Conference trial.

0:20:27 > 0:20:30I'm here to tell you I made Conference.

0:20:30 > 0:20:33- Oh, good job. Good job. Well done. - Cheers.

0:20:33 > 0:20:36It's really hard, I mean, but it should be good.

0:20:36 > 0:20:38It's a good chance to play for England again.

0:20:38 > 0:20:40You're going to have to adapt to play at a high level,

0:20:40 > 0:20:42so, yeah, it's good. It's all good.

0:20:42 > 0:20:44How is school? What's the hockey like?

0:20:44 > 0:20:45It's a lot harder.

0:20:45 > 0:20:48School, gym, hockey, all the time.

0:20:48 > 0:20:50It's intense, but I'm enjoying it, yeah.

0:20:50 > 0:20:52So, is it a lot different in Canada?

0:20:52 > 0:20:54Yeah, it's colder, for one thing.

0:20:54 > 0:20:56It's a big culture change.

0:20:56 > 0:20:58I mean, the food's different.

0:20:58 > 0:20:59The music, things like that.

0:20:59 > 0:21:02Just the little things that you wouldn't really think about,

0:21:02 > 0:21:04but, I mean, it's what you've got to do to

0:21:04 > 0:21:06try and be the best you can in hockey,

0:21:06 > 0:21:07and just do what you've got to do.

0:21:07 > 0:21:11It's 4am in the morning in Canada, so Rais is half-asleep,

0:21:11 > 0:21:13and he doesn't seem to have noticed his brother's prank yet.

0:21:13 > 0:21:17So, do you notice anything different?

0:21:17 > 0:21:18Are you in my room?

0:21:18 > 0:21:19Yeah.

0:21:20 > 0:21:22What are you doing in my room?

0:21:22 > 0:21:23What, haven't you heard?

0:21:23 > 0:21:26Mum said that we're allowed... I'm allowed to have your room now.

0:21:26 > 0:21:28No, she hasn't.

0:21:28 > 0:21:30Why is my stuff in your room, then?

0:21:30 > 0:21:33You see that shirt? You see that shirt right there?

0:21:33 > 0:21:34- Yeah. That's mine, isn't it?- Yeah?

0:21:35 > 0:21:37Yeah, open the wardrobe.

0:21:37 > 0:21:40Yeah, I don't use your wardrobe.

0:21:40 > 0:21:42Well, exactly. You don't use my wardrobe cos all my stuff's in it.

0:21:42 > 0:21:45Look, my stick's there as well.

0:21:45 > 0:21:46Oh, your sticks are there.

0:21:46 > 0:21:47Wow, two sticks.

0:21:47 > 0:21:50Yeah, and that means it's your room, then, doesn't it, obviously?

0:21:50 > 0:21:52It does. Look, my bedding. My bedding.

0:21:52 > 0:21:54Yeah, you're probably in there for a night.

0:21:54 > 0:21:57Rais, I think you've figured this out.

0:21:57 > 0:21:58I haven't really got your room.

0:21:58 > 0:22:01Oh, really? Oh, I didn't know that, sorry, Aren, yeah...!

0:22:01 > 0:22:05I thought you actually had my room... Oh!

0:22:05 > 0:22:07- Oh, OK, that's...- You fooled me...

0:22:07 > 0:22:10- Great prank, Aren, great prank... - Oh, dear.

0:22:10 > 0:22:13Well done. So, basically, Aren, remove all your stuff,

0:22:13 > 0:22:16get it out now and get out of my room, to be honest with you.

0:22:16 > 0:22:18Just move. Get out.

0:22:19 > 0:22:22I think he bought it for a second or so, but, you know,

0:22:22 > 0:22:24I guess I'm going to have to get out and get lost

0:22:24 > 0:22:26because, you know, he said so.

0:22:26 > 0:22:31I'm the younger brother, so I've got to do what he says, as always.

0:22:31 > 0:22:34Oh, well, Aren may not have got Rais's bedroom,

0:22:34 > 0:22:37but following in his footsteps and making it into the Conference League

0:22:37 > 0:22:40is a pretty big achievement.

0:22:40 > 0:22:45My best skating moment is probably when I won the British with Josh.

0:22:45 > 0:22:48My biggest achievement on the ice is probably qualifying for

0:22:48 > 0:22:51the Junior European Championships.

0:22:51 > 0:22:55Mine is when I came second in the British.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58My biggest achievement on ice is probably

0:22:58 > 0:23:02getting grade eight in three weeks.

0:23:03 > 0:23:04Yeah.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13CHEERING

0:23:16 > 0:23:17Come on, girls.

0:23:17 > 0:23:19Back at the British Championships,

0:23:19 > 0:23:21it's the moment of truth for the Icicles.

0:23:23 > 0:23:26They're going to have to skate like never before if they're going to

0:23:26 > 0:23:29beat the Solway Stars's score and win the Championships.

0:23:29 > 0:23:34- Stepping out, it was, ooh, scary! - It was a scary moment.

0:23:37 > 0:23:39But just a few seconds into their warm-up,

0:23:39 > 0:23:41one of the Icicles takes a tumble.

0:23:41 > 0:23:44GROANING

0:23:46 > 0:23:49Emily fell over, and she, like, rolled around the ice for a bit,

0:23:49 > 0:23:52and we were all a bit like, "Oh, what's she doing?"

0:23:52 > 0:23:55And then we thought, "That's it, the fall's over with now.

0:23:55 > 0:23:56"We'll have a good, clean skate."

0:23:56 > 0:23:59- Yeah, she took the fall out of the way, so it's all good.- Yeah.

0:23:59 > 0:24:01CHEERING AND APPLAUSE One slip like that in the

0:24:01 > 0:24:03performance, and all dreams of

0:24:03 > 0:24:07going to the World Championships in Canada will lie in tatters.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10MUSIC: Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny) by AR Rahman and The Pussycat Dolls

0:24:11 > 0:24:12Good girls!

0:24:12 > 0:24:16- # Jai ho - I got shivers when you touch my face

0:26:38 > 0:26:41so to say that I'm a British champion in Team Icicles

0:26:41 > 0:26:43is just amazing.

0:26:43 > 0:26:45CHEERING

0:26:46 > 0:26:48I'm just really overwhelmed.

0:26:48 > 0:26:51Like, words can't describe how happy, I think,

0:26:51 > 0:26:54not just me but everybody is because people that have skated in the team

0:26:54 > 0:26:58longer have always waited to go to a big competition like Canada.

0:26:58 > 0:27:00CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:27:00 > 0:27:03Seeing as the Bollywood routine is the hardest routine we've ever,

0:27:04 > 0:27:07We've had the highest score that we've ever got here,

0:27:07 > 0:27:11and it was a really good choice picking Bollywood.

0:27:11 > 0:27:13CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:27:14 > 0:27:16Next time on Ice Stars...

0:27:22 > 0:27:26Oh, God. I'm quite nervous about having pucks launched at me.

0:27:28 > 0:27:29Ah!

0:27:29 > 0:27:33It feels completely new and I'm struggling.

0:27:33 > 0:27:34APPLAUSE

0:27:34 > 0:27:37It's the British Ice Dance Championships,

0:27:37 > 0:27:40and make or break time for Josh and Lucy's partnership.

0:27:42 > 0:27:46I think we're going into it with quite a professional attitude,

0:27:46 > 0:27:49and just trying to concentrate on the competition.

0:27:49 > 0:27:52We're just going to go out there and skate our best and hopefully win.
