0:02:28 > 0:02:30- Are you ready for that?- I'm ready.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57Each team will be given three stories,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59which the tourists will be tested on.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02So, the boys had better get their facts straight.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06Edward, let's get out of here and find out more about Greenwich.

0:03:06 > 0:03:07Time to meet the first expert -

0:03:07 > 0:03:09it's Linda, there she is! Hello, Linda.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13- BOTH:- Whoa, amazing!

0:03:13 > 0:03:17- Hey, I'm John.- I'm Edward. - And together we are Jedward.

0:03:17 > 0:03:19We're here to find out what is this place

0:03:19 > 0:03:21and why are there so many amazing paintings?

0:03:21 > 0:03:24This is the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28It's the largest painted ceiling in the whole of Europe.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Stop, guys.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33Do you know who Nelson is?

0:03:33 > 0:03:36Horatio Nelson became famous for being a brilliant leader

0:03:36 > 0:03:39during the Napoleonic wars but on the first day

0:03:39 > 0:03:43of the famous Battle of Trafalgar, in 1805, he was shot and killed.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46He didn't want to be thrown overboard and buried at sea,

0:03:46 > 0:03:51so the sailors preserved his body in a cask of brandy to take him home.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54He was only the second ever commoner to have a state funeral.

0:03:54 > 0:03:59Thousands flocked as his coffin was taken, by barge, to St Paul's.

0:04:00 > 0:04:02Here.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04Even though he was a wonderful naval officer,

0:04:04 > 0:04:06he was frightened of the sea and he was seasick.

0:04:06 > 0:04:08He was only 5 foot 4

0:04:08 > 0:04:11but his friend on board ship was a man called Hardy

0:04:11 > 0:04:12and he was 6 foot 4,

0:04:12 > 0:04:14so they would have been quite strange friends.

0:04:14 > 0:04:18But when Nelson was dying he called for his friend and he said,

0:04:18 > 0:04:21"Kiss me, Hardy." After all, he knew he was dying, he just wanted a hug.

0:04:21 > 0:04:25Took three months to bring him home and then he was laid out here,

0:04:25 > 0:04:29in his big coffin, and 50,000 people filed past the body.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32- That's crazy, that's like Wembley Stadium!- Absolutely.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35- The whole country was in mourning. - And where was he? Was he here...?

0:04:35 > 0:04:37He was here, exactly where this plaque is,

0:04:37 > 0:04:40in a beautiful coffin on top of a table.

0:04:40 > 0:04:41And people would walk in and go...

0:04:41 > 0:04:45They couldn't see his body cos it had been pickled for three months.

0:04:45 > 0:04:46So, they couldn't touch him?

0:04:46 > 0:04:49No, it was just to his coffin they wanted to walk past.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52- And show their respects?- And show their respects.- For their hero?

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Absolute hero.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57So, John and Edward are now Nelson experts

0:04:57 > 0:05:00or will playing dead be all they remember? Time will tell.

0:05:00 > 0:05:04But not yet because they are off to meet their next expert, Steve...

0:05:04 > 0:05:06S'up, Steve? ..at the Queen's house.

0:05:06 > 0:05:07- Wow!- All right, Edward,

0:05:07 > 0:05:10we came here to find out all we know about the building.

0:05:10 > 0:05:14- Hey, I'm John!- Hi, John. Hi, Edward. - Is this your house?- I wish it was.

0:05:14 > 0:05:18- Who lives here?- What is this place? - This is the Queen's house.

0:05:18 > 0:05:22The Queen's house at Greenwich was a gift from King James I to his wife.

0:05:22 > 0:05:25It was his way of saying sorry, according to the story,

0:05:25 > 0:05:27for having sworn at her in public

0:05:27 > 0:05:30when she accidentally shot one of his dogs while hunting.

0:05:30 > 0:05:34Sadly, she died before it was completed...

0:05:34 > 0:05:37but the house was still used as she had intended,

0:05:37 > 0:05:40as a venue for lavish parties.

0:05:40 > 0:05:43So, back then, what type of parties did they have?

0:05:43 > 0:05:45There was one famous one in 1617 that we know about,

0:05:45 > 0:05:47I think you would've liked it.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49There would have been people dressed up,

0:05:49 > 0:05:51there would have been Baroque music...

0:05:51 > 0:05:54- What's brock music? - Baroque music is...- Broccoli?

0:05:54 > 0:05:58- No.- Was Baroque music, erm, the rock and roll of its day?

0:05:58 > 0:06:00It wasn't the rock and roll of its day

0:06:00 > 0:06:02but it was definitely at the cutting edge of the forms of music

0:06:02 > 0:06:04that were played at that period.

0:06:04 > 0:06:06And what type of dancing where they doing?

0:06:06 > 0:06:09Were they doing, like, this kind of dancing?

0:06:09 > 0:06:10- This dancing? This dancing? - Oh, dear...

0:06:10 > 0:06:13Shuffling, shuffling, were they doing?

0:06:13 > 0:06:15..I bet Steve's wishing he had stayed in bed this morning.

0:06:15 > 0:06:17- Get back in here, Steve! - No, I'm scared now.- Like this.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19Oh, make it stop, someone, please.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23Oh, let's just leave them to it.

0:06:23 > 0:06:25Good, it's over.

0:06:25 > 0:06:27And time for the next story for tomorrow's tour.

0:06:27 > 0:06:31What I wanted to talk to you about, here, is King James I.

0:06:31 > 0:06:36He was the first monarch to have the idea of designing a union flag.

0:06:37 > 0:06:41When James VI of Scotland became James I of England

0:06:41 > 0:06:44he created Great Britain, so a new flag was needed.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47It was designed by King James's heralds and combined

0:06:47 > 0:06:52the St George's Cross of England with St Andrew's cross of Scotland.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54Two centuries later it was adapted

0:06:54 > 0:06:56to include the Irish flag of that time

0:06:56 > 0:07:00and from then on became the flag we know today.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03He was originally King of Scotland,

0:07:03 > 0:07:05then he came all the way from Scotland to England -

0:07:05 > 0:07:09- it was kind of like borrowing a hairdryer.- N-n-n-not exactly.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12But it kind of is because imagine the hairdryer's in Scotland

0:07:12 > 0:07:15and you say, "Can I borrow it?" So, then there's two hairdryers,

0:07:15 > 0:07:18meaning the hairdryer's broken and... What do you think?

0:07:18 > 0:07:20- You've lost me completely. - Yeah, me too.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23I'm with you, Steve, not a clue what that was all about.

0:07:23 > 0:07:25Hey, everyone, it's John and Edward,

0:07:25 > 0:07:26and right now we are outside

0:07:26 > 0:07:28this crazy pirate ship.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30So, the twins now know all about Nelson,

0:07:30 > 0:07:32the Queen's house and James I.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35Next, they need to go and see a man about a ship.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38There's our ship and there's our man, Richard!

0:07:38 > 0:07:42Hurry up, boys, don't keep Richard waiting and mind you don't trip!

0:07:42 > 0:07:46We're here to find out all we can about this ginormous boat

0:07:46 > 0:07:49and these awesome, cool heads behind us. What are they?

0:07:49 > 0:07:52These are all figureheads from merchant ships

0:07:52 > 0:07:54- that have been lost at sea. - What's a figurehead?

0:07:54 > 0:07:58It is, literally, a figure on the bow of a ship

0:07:58 > 0:08:00- and it brings good luck. - So, what's the name of this boat?

0:08:00 > 0:08:02This is the Cutty Sark,

0:08:02 > 0:08:05it's the most famous sailing ship in the world.

0:08:06 > 0:08:09The Cutty Sark was built in 1869.

0:08:09 > 0:08:13It is believed the name was chosen as the ship glides in the breeze

0:08:13 > 0:08:17like a lady's short nightie or, in Scottish, a Cutty Sark.

0:08:17 > 0:08:20The ambition was for her to be the fastest ship

0:08:20 > 0:08:23in the annual race to bring tea back from China.

0:08:23 > 0:08:25She never actually won the race

0:08:25 > 0:08:26but she did once complete the journey

0:08:26 > 0:08:29in a record breaking 107 days.

0:08:29 > 0:08:32She's been described as the fastest

0:08:32 > 0:08:35and greatest sailing ship of her time.

0:08:35 > 0:08:38That's a weird name, Cutty Sark, what does that mean?

0:08:38 > 0:08:41Is actually a white nightdress and it was worn by the witch Nannie

0:08:41 > 0:08:45in the poem Tam O'Shanter, by Robbie Burns.

0:08:45 > 0:08:48It captured the imagination of Jock Willis,

0:08:48 > 0:08:50the man who built this ship.

0:08:50 > 0:08:52It looked like the sales blowing in the wind.

0:08:52 > 0:08:54Why don't we go on board, guys? Come on, guys.

0:08:54 > 0:08:56Come on, let's check it out!

0:08:56 > 0:08:59- Richard, this boat's amazing. - It's a ship! It's a ship!

0:08:59 > 0:09:01- Let's go in here!- In here, in here.

0:09:01 > 0:09:03So, this is it?

0:09:03 > 0:09:07- This is one of the cabins that the apprentices would sleep in.- Wow.

0:09:07 > 0:09:11And I'm talking, here, guys as young as 13, 14.

0:09:11 > 0:09:14You've got to imagine the waves crashing in here.

0:09:14 > 0:09:16This was always wet.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19All your possessions would be in wooden chests

0:09:19 > 0:09:23and you would sit down at your chest to eat your meal.

0:09:23 > 0:09:24This is the saloon,

0:09:24 > 0:09:27where the officers would have relaxed at night,

0:09:27 > 0:09:29- had a glass of wine.- This is a big contrast to the other room.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32The other room was really small, really cramped.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34- This room has, like, loads of space, loads of...- Total luxury.

0:09:34 > 0:09:37Yeah, this is. This is how the other half lived.

0:09:37 > 0:09:39Don't get too used to it, boys.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41You've got plenty more to investigate.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44Stop filming me. I'm going to the toilet!

0:09:44 > 0:09:47Have they listened to Richard or has it all gone down the pan?

0:09:47 > 0:09:49Ha-ha-ha, Sorry!

0:09:51 > 0:09:54- I think the Cutty Shark is the best ship in the world.- Oh, do you?

0:09:54 > 0:09:57Right, well, I'm sure the Cutty "Shark's" very nice

0:09:57 > 0:10:00but let's stick to this ship, shall we(?) The Cutty Sark!

0:10:00 > 0:10:03Oh, no, help me, I'm tied up!

0:10:06 > 0:10:09- Let's get out of here. - Come on, time to disembark.

0:10:09 > 0:10:12You have a big hill to climb if you want to be good tour guides

0:10:12 > 0:10:16and here's the next expert to help you on your way. Rob!

0:10:16 > 0:10:19What is this line that everyone is queueing up to take photos with?

0:10:19 > 0:10:22Is not just a line, it's THE line.

0:10:22 > 0:10:24This line is the line against which

0:10:24 > 0:10:26the position of everything on Earth is measured.

0:10:26 > 0:10:28How far East or West of it, it is.

0:10:28 > 0:10:31- What's it called?- The Prime Meridian or the Greenwich Meridian.

0:10:31 > 0:10:35Did they get a huge ruler that went around the world and just, did it?

0:10:35 > 0:10:37Not quite. It's an imaginary line.

0:10:37 > 0:10:40The Greenwich Meridian Line

0:10:40 > 0:10:42can claim to be the centre of world time.

0:10:42 > 0:10:45It divides the Eastern and Western Hemisphere's of the Earth,

0:10:45 > 0:10:47just as the equator divides the North and the South.

0:10:47 > 0:10:52- Edward, wake up, it's not TIME to sleep!- Ha-ha-ha.

0:10:52 > 0:10:55Greenwich Mean Time is related to universal time,

0:10:55 > 0:10:59which determines the time everywhere on Earth. It's a standard Time.

0:10:59 > 0:11:01So, when its midday here, midday Greenwich Mean Time,

0:11:01 > 0:11:03it's midday in international time.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05We're talking about time a lot right now, OK.

0:11:05 > 0:11:08- What is the actual time cos I don't have a watch.- Well, the...

0:11:08 > 0:11:10- Do you have a watch? - I haven't got a watch on me, no.

0:11:10 > 0:11:13- You're talking about time and you don't have a watch?- I've got the sun.

0:11:13 > 0:11:16- So, if the world split in half, with this be the middle?- No.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18That would be the East and that would be the West.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20- I'm in the West and he's in the East?- Yeah.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23- And where's North? That way? This way?- That way.- Oh, dear.

0:11:23 > 0:11:25Let's hope the celebrity helpers

0:11:25 > 0:11:28will have a better sense of direction in tomorrow's tour.

0:11:29 > 0:11:31Well, they look happy enough anyway.

0:11:31 > 0:11:33Now for the last stop on the tour -

0:11:33 > 0:11:36Greenwich's world-famous observatory.

0:11:36 > 0:11:37Wow, what is this?

0:11:37 > 0:11:41This is called the 28 inch telescope. It weighs 18 tons.

0:11:43 > 0:11:48The Royal Observatory was built for King Charles II, in 1675,

0:11:48 > 0:11:50to improve navigation at sea

0:11:50 > 0:11:53and today we are still passionate about studying the universe,

0:11:53 > 0:11:57and the Observatory houses a giant telescope so powerful that

0:11:57 > 0:12:00some nights you can see the moon, the planets and the stars.

0:12:00 > 0:12:03If I went to New York and was eating a hot dog would you be able to,

0:12:03 > 0:12:06like, zoom in here and go, "Edward, yo, get me a hot dog!"?

0:12:06 > 0:12:09No, because the Earth is round so I wouldn't be able to see you.

0:19:05 > 0:19:08He came all the way to Scotland and he was like, "I'm taking this over."

0:19:08 > 0:19:10Because it was like under new management,

0:19:38 > 0:19:40As we can see, Wales isn't on it

0:20:37 > 0:20:39- I don't think that's going to look right.- Where's Stacey?

0:20:39 > 0:20:40Perfect.

0:20:40 > 0:20:45This ship is one of the most famous ships in the whole entire world.

0:23:08 > 0:23:14Well done, Team Edward. But will you be stargazing later?

0:24:44 > 0:24:47because they're absolutely brilliant as a pair.

0:24:47 > 0:24:50I think Shannon and Edward did really well

0:24:50 > 0:24:53on explaining what happened

0:24:53 > 0:24:57and it was really good. I learned a lot.

0:24:57 > 0:24:59I think the team that did best was John and Stacey.

0:24:59 > 0:25:03I do think John and Stacey are going to win it,

0:25:31 > 0:25:33A party house.

0:25:33 > 0:25:35For each correct answer,

0:25:35 > 0:25:40there's a point in it for the team that told that story.

0:25:40 > 0:25:43And the team with the most points will win.
