0:01:54 > 0:01:57Meet Freya from Newbury.

0:01:57 > 0:02:03My style of baking is creative and imaginative and a bit silly.

0:02:03 > 0:02:09If I get through to the next round, I'd be over the moon.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Cameron from Derbyshire.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14I've come here because I know I'm really good.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17I've been training two hours a day.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19It's the most important day of my life.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21I'm going to bake my socks off.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Aasiya from Hertfordshire.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27I like baking because of the smell that comes out of the oven.

0:02:27 > 0:02:33To be judged by the best bakers in England will be really cool.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36And Sam from Somerset.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40I like baking because it can unite people together.

0:02:40 > 0:02:45When it goes right, I get crazy and start singing, Hallelujah

0:02:45 > 0:02:48and dancing around like mad.

0:02:49 > 0:02:54The first challenge for a place in the semi-final is technical,

0:02:54 > 0:02:58bake one of Paul's recipes for chocolate brownies.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01The trick is to get the mixing done properly.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04It should be nice and smooth. And no lumps.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07They have to make 12 equally-sized brownies

0:03:07 > 0:03:11that are crunchy on the top and gooey in the middle.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14Often, they're taken out too soon and dip

0:03:14 > 0:03:18or in too long and the middle hasn't that squidgyness.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20They all have the same ingredients

0:03:20 > 0:03:25and the same amount of time, but the results could completely different.

0:03:25 > 0:03:30- Bakers, have you washed your hands? - ALL: Yes.

0:03:30 > 0:03:35Good. Listen up, your brownies are going to be judged on three things.

0:03:35 > 0:03:39Technique, texture and taste.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42You've only got one hour to cook these brownies.

0:03:42 > 0:03:46Remember, this is your chance to impress our judges.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49- Are you ready? - ALL: Yes.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52On your marks, get set, bake.

0:03:52 > 0:03:56These guys know their way around a kitchen,

0:03:56 > 0:03:58so if you fancy baking, ask an adult.

0:03:58 > 0:04:03To make the brownies, they whisk together the eggs and sugar.

0:04:03 > 0:04:07For nine-year-old Cameron, who wants to be a sportsman

0:04:07 > 0:04:11or a baker when he's older, he's letting his bake do the talking.

0:04:11 > 0:04:17- Hi! How's it going?- Good. - How are you finding this challenge?

0:04:17 > 0:04:22I've made brownies before so I'm looking forward to it.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24I'm hoping the judges like it.

0:04:24 > 0:04:29How do you fancy your chances? Do you think you'll get through?

0:04:29 > 0:04:34I'm hoping I do. It would be really nice.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36It depends on what happens with the food.

0:04:36 > 0:04:41I only usually bake when I'm feeling happy.

0:04:41 > 0:04:46I'm feeling happy at the moment, that's why I'm feeling confident.

0:04:46 > 0:04:5110-year-old Sam is no stranger to the pitfalls of baking brownies.

0:04:51 > 0:04:56The worst thing that can happen is that you can cook it for too long

0:04:56 > 0:05:00and it tastes burnt.

0:05:00 > 0:05:02You can get the texture wrong

0:05:02 > 0:05:06and it can be really dry in the middle.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10The bakers then add the all-important chocolate.

0:05:10 > 0:05:13You have to fold it quite slowly

0:05:13 > 0:05:16and don't mix it because it gets all the air out of it.

0:05:16 > 0:05:2110-year-old Freya who loves to write her own cookery books,

0:05:21 > 0:05:24is already speeding through the rest of the recipe.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27Freya, what's happening?

0:05:27 > 0:05:32I'm just mixing the flour, the cocoa powder

0:05:32 > 0:05:38and the baking powder to the chocolate and eggs and sugar.

0:05:38 > 0:05:43- It makes your arm ache though! - It does, doesn't it? Just do this.

0:05:43 > 0:05:49Wiggle, wiggle. Put it on the side like that and go, ten seconds.

0:05:49 > 0:05:54One, two, three, four. That's enough!

0:05:54 > 0:05:58- That helps!- Was that all right?

0:05:58 > 0:06:02What got you into baking in the first place?

0:06:02 > 0:06:07I didn't like the cakes in the shops so I started making my own.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10My dad always used to make flapjacks

0:06:10 > 0:06:14and I used to help him and lick the bowl afterwards.

0:06:17 > 0:06:21Aasiya got into baking after going to a baking party.

0:06:21 > 0:06:25She's got her sights firmly on the last place in the semi-finals.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28So what sort of baker are you?

0:06:28 > 0:06:30I like cakes and cookies.

0:06:30 > 0:06:32But I don't like savoury stuff.

0:06:32 > 0:06:35Really? That could be challenging.

0:06:35 > 0:06:39They could throw a curve ball in the competition. Are you prepared?

0:06:39 > 0:06:41I can, just prefer not to.

0:06:41 > 0:06:45How do you fancy your chances? Tough competition out there.

0:06:45 > 0:06:47Still a chance.

0:06:47 > 0:06:50- Will we see you in the semi-final? - Hopefully.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53That's looking very nice and light.

0:06:53 > 0:06:58- Good stuff. Don't forget to put the rest of the chocolate in.- Thanks.

0:06:58 > 0:07:03OK, guys. You've got 30 minutes left. 30 minutes.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08I'm feeling very confident.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11I've baked brownies before.

0:07:11 > 0:07:13I don't think a lot can go wrong.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16'With everyone concentrating on the task in hand,

0:07:16 > 0:07:19'there's a potential problem with Cameron's mix.'

0:07:19 > 0:07:22His folding technique wasn't that good.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25He still had quite a considerable amount of mix

0:07:25 > 0:07:28and chocolate left in his glass bowls.

0:07:28 > 0:07:31I think that is going to cause an issue.

0:07:31 > 0:07:35'Under the pressure, Sam's earlier confidence is starting to wobble.'

0:07:35 > 0:07:38I like to spy on the opposition to see what they're up to,

0:07:38 > 0:07:40see if theirs looks better than mine.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42To be honest, I'm not very neat and tidy.

0:07:42 > 0:07:45Presentation is not my strongest point.

0:07:45 > 0:07:50I'm hoping to wow the judges on flavour, more than appearance.

0:07:52 > 0:07:56'With the mixes in the tins, the brownies head into the oven.'

0:07:56 > 0:07:59Fingers crossed, it turns out all right.

0:07:59 > 0:08:03'While some take a break, others are not letting their guard down.'

0:08:03 > 0:08:06I've just got to concentrate on my brownie,

0:08:06 > 0:08:09check it and make sure it doesn't burn, really.

0:08:12 > 0:08:17Bakers, smelling good. You've only got ten minutes left to go.

0:08:18 > 0:08:22I've left it for a bit, already, to let it cool

0:08:22 > 0:08:24so it can be crunchy on the top.

0:08:24 > 0:08:27'With most of the brownies coming out of the oven,

0:08:27 > 0:08:30Aasiya is speeding ahead with the finishing touches,

0:08:30 > 0:08:32but the judges are watching.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37I've been glancing at her now. She's sprinkled the icing sugar

0:08:37 > 0:08:40over the top of the cake while it was hot.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42What's going to happen to that is,

0:08:42 > 0:08:44it will soak into the cake

0:08:44 > 0:08:46and lose its whiteness.

0:08:46 > 0:08:49- I know.- She's breaking all the rules.

0:08:51 > 0:08:54'Meanwhile, Freya isn't convinced about her bake.'

0:08:54 > 0:08:58It's not bouncing very well. I think it needs a few more minutes.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01I'm just going to put it in again.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04'With the clock ticking and a place in the semi-final at stake,

0:09:04 > 0:09:07'she's taking a big risk, but will it pay off?'

0:09:07 > 0:09:12OK, bakers, five minutes left to go. You've got five minutes to go.

0:09:13 > 0:09:15'When it comes to cutting up the brownies,

0:09:15 > 0:09:20'the bakers have to try and present 12 equal slices.

0:09:21 > 0:09:26'But Freya is still holding out for the ultimate brownie.'

0:09:26 > 0:09:28Right, let's test it.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30Much better.

0:09:33 > 0:09:39OK, dudes, you've got one minute left to go. Plate them brownies up.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42I'm very happy with my brownies, I think they look good

0:09:42 > 0:09:44and I hope they taste as good as they look.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54OK, your time's up.

0:09:54 > 0:09:57Step away from the brownies.

0:10:01 > 0:10:05For the first time, the bakers are about to have their bakes judged

0:10:05 > 0:10:07by two of the country's top experts.

0:10:07 > 0:10:11But who will be taking a big step closer to the semi-final?

0:10:11 > 0:10:14I think overall, the standard is pretty high.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16Yes, they look good, don't they?

0:10:16 > 0:10:20First to face the judges is Cameron, having made brownies before

0:10:20 > 0:10:23he's confident he's got them just right.

0:10:23 > 0:10:25But will Paul and Mary agree?

0:10:26 > 0:10:30You've got the crust on top which is

0:10:30 > 0:10:32typical of a brownie as it should be

0:10:32 > 0:10:35and you've cut it up beautifully evenly.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37Not quite the rise.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39It could've had a bit more rise

0:10:39 > 0:10:43and that means that you didn't quite beat your eggs to full volume.

0:10:43 > 0:10:48There's bits of darkness where the chocolate hasn't gone into the mix.

0:10:48 > 0:10:52You need to fold it a little bit longer and you'd have been OK.

0:10:52 > 0:10:53Well done.

0:10:53 > 0:10:54Up next up is Aasiya.

0:10:54 > 0:10:56Having sped ahead,

0:10:56 > 0:10:59Mary and Paul notice that she didn't follow the recipe exactly

0:10:59 > 0:11:02but will they be able to tell by the taste?

0:11:02 > 0:11:05You were speeding along, weren't you?

0:11:05 > 0:11:06I bet it's going to taste good.

0:11:06 > 0:11:09You've got a nice crisp on the top.

0:11:09 > 0:11:10Lovely crisp.

0:11:11 > 0:11:13Lovely flavour.

0:11:13 > 0:11:15You took them out of the oven and didn't cool them.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18You immediately sprinkled icing sugar on and cut them up.

0:11:18 > 0:11:23You can see the icing sugar has melted a little bit.

0:11:23 > 0:11:29When you cut the knife down, it sunk in because it was still hot.

0:11:29 > 0:11:33Sam was worried about his presentation compared to the others

0:11:33 > 0:11:37and is relying on their flavour, but what with the judges think?

0:11:37 > 0:11:41Sam, how did you think you coped with this?

0:11:41 > 0:11:42I found it easy because

0:11:42 > 0:11:45my mum taught me how to make chocolate brownies.

0:11:45 > 0:11:50If I had nine brothers, the one that's going to go first is that one

0:11:50 > 0:11:52and there'll be a bit of a shouting match.

0:11:52 > 0:11:57Be careful when you cutting, that they're all the same size.

0:11:57 > 0:11:59Very good rise, isn't it?

0:11:59 > 0:12:03It's gooey, the chocolate is good, the bake is good.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06Finally, Freya, who took a last-minute risk

0:12:06 > 0:12:10by putting her brownies back in the oven and nearly ran out of time.

0:12:10 > 0:12:12But was this the right thing to do?

0:12:12 > 0:12:16- You've got a very good rise. - It's chewy, good taste.

0:12:18 > 0:12:21Mind you again, they're not actually in perfect squares, are they?

0:12:21 > 0:12:25They're not quite equal but I think you've done a good job.

0:12:25 > 0:12:27Thanks very much.

0:12:27 > 0:12:30Cheers guys. OK, so your first bake is complete.

0:12:30 > 0:12:33You've one more challenge to face.

0:12:33 > 0:12:35You've everything to bake for.

0:12:42 > 0:12:43It's your second test.

0:12:43 > 0:12:47Come up with some biscuits inspired by today's theme

0:12:47 > 0:12:49which is Halloween.

0:12:50 > 0:12:54Paul and Mary are going to be judging.

0:12:54 > 0:12:58Intricate decorating, they've got to look fantastic

0:12:58 > 0:13:01and also, it's got to taste really, really good.

0:13:01 > 0:13:05- Are you ready?- Yes.- All right.

0:13:06 > 0:13:10On your marks, get set, bake.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14The bakers have just one hour and a half

0:13:14 > 0:13:17to bake the biscuits they've been practising at home.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20This is the last chance they have to impress the judges.

0:13:20 > 0:13:23For Sam, it's all about taste

0:13:23 > 0:13:26so what will his orange and cinnamon biscuits have to wow the judges?

0:13:26 > 0:13:30I'm putting popping candy which is my secret ingredient.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32Will that give you the edge?

0:13:32 > 0:13:39Yes, because my popping candy will stand out and surprise the judges.

0:13:39 > 0:13:42Fancy your chances? Will you get through to the semi-finals?

0:13:42 > 0:13:46I hope so and I think I've a good chance of getting through.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49What about the finals? Reckon you can win this?

0:13:49 > 0:13:52I don't know, we'll have to wait and see.

0:13:53 > 0:13:57Freya pushed her timings to the limit in the first challenge,

0:13:57 > 0:13:59so is hoping to beat the clock with her white chocolate

0:13:59 > 0:14:01and ginger spooky biscuits.

0:14:01 > 0:14:04I was going do ginger biscuits

0:14:04 > 0:14:07and then I thought it was a bit boring,

0:14:07 > 0:14:10so I looked at all the ginger in the cupboard

0:14:10 > 0:14:14and I found this stem ginger.

0:14:14 > 0:14:17I tried it and it tasted really good.

0:14:17 > 0:14:19If you did win, how would this change your life?

0:14:19 > 0:14:26It'll be a real honour to be crowned the first Junior Bake Off Champion.

0:14:26 > 0:14:27I'll let you crack on.

0:14:27 > 0:14:31I'm just going to stay here because I can't actually get up.

0:14:31 > 0:14:33- Just work round me.- OK.

0:14:37 > 0:14:40What are you actually making for the judges?

0:14:40 > 0:14:43I'm doing spicy toffee apple treats.

0:14:43 > 0:14:44Toffee apple?

0:14:44 > 0:14:47That's quite traditional for Halloween.

0:14:47 > 0:14:48Good start for the theme.

0:14:48 > 0:14:53I've got two different cutters, a pumpkin and a bat.

0:14:53 > 0:14:57The pumpkin will be the treat and the bat will be the trick.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00Aasiya was super speedy in the first round.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02Will she be able to keep up the pace

0:15:02 > 0:15:05with her white chocolate and orange biscuit invention?

0:15:05 > 0:15:09Where's the theme of Halloween?

0:15:09 > 0:15:12It's going to be a little boy scaring a little girl

0:15:12 > 0:15:13in a ghost costume.

0:15:15 > 0:15:18This is interesting, like a little scene.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21I must admit, there is a good bit of competition out there,

0:15:21 > 0:15:24but this is interesting. Nothing like this.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27Why don't you make one that looks like Paul?

0:15:27 > 0:15:31- Maybe put a big belly like that. Yeah?- No.

0:15:31 > 0:15:32I'll do that.

0:15:34 > 0:15:37Time to get my hands dirty.

0:15:38 > 0:15:42I think the presentation and the taste are about the same

0:15:42 > 0:15:47because if it doesn't look good, people wouldn't want to eat it.

0:15:47 > 0:15:53If it doesn't taste very nice, they won't eat it so it's both really.

0:15:53 > 0:15:56The biscuit mixes start coming together.

0:15:56 > 0:15:58And finally, all the all the bakers hopes

0:15:58 > 0:16:01start heading into the oven.

0:16:01 > 0:16:04Our bakers are making some scary bakes

0:16:04 > 0:16:08but before they terrify the life out of the judges find out what happened

0:16:08 > 0:16:12when I met a woman who makes scary cakes for a living.

0:16:12 > 0:16:13Boo!

0:16:15 > 0:16:19I've come to this dark, spooky dungeon to find out

0:16:19 > 0:16:21just how to make the scariest bakes.

0:16:21 > 0:16:25Nothing is going to scare me in the slightest.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28It's going to be a long night.

0:16:28 > 0:16:33This is Louise Hill, award winning cake sculptor and creator

0:16:33 > 0:16:38of the most incredible, edible and best of all, frightening bakes.

0:16:38 > 0:16:40Louise, what are we up to today?

0:16:40 > 0:16:45We'll make some really disgusting, totally blood curdling cupcakes.

0:16:45 > 0:16:49Before we do that, we've got to do this.

0:16:49 > 0:16:51What the... What's going on?

0:16:51 > 0:16:53It's the magic of the dungeons.

0:16:53 > 0:16:56Let's get out of here, this is freaky.

0:16:56 > 0:17:00Start off with a really nice sponge.

0:17:00 > 0:17:03We're going to put a layer of skin over it.

0:17:03 > 0:17:04Not skin, you can't do that.

0:17:04 > 0:17:08It's just chocolate paste that's been coloured to look like skin.

0:17:08 > 0:17:10Do a bit of rolling like that.

0:17:10 > 0:17:12Where do you get these crazy ideas?

0:17:12 > 0:17:16I just really like disgusting, horrible, gross things.

0:17:16 > 0:17:17Strange girl.

0:17:17 > 0:17:21Cut it to size and make a jagged slice down the middle

0:17:21 > 0:17:22for the wound opening.

0:17:22 > 0:17:26To stick the skin to the cake use some butter cream.

0:17:26 > 0:17:28Put that on the top.

0:17:28 > 0:17:31Get loads of this disgusting, congealed blood jam

0:17:31 > 0:17:33in the middle of the hole.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35Make the stitches.

0:17:35 > 0:17:40Just some black chocolate paste on the cupcake and just squash it in.

0:17:40 > 0:17:42It looks like it's been ripped out.

0:17:42 > 0:17:46To make it extra disgusting, whip up another batch of blood

0:17:46 > 0:17:49using chocolate and strawberry sauce and food colouring.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52When it looks realistic because it'll freak you out.

0:17:52 > 0:17:54I've just cut the cake.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56It looks gross but it tastes really good.

0:17:56 > 0:18:00- It looks so realistic. - You've got to taste it.

0:18:00 > 0:18:04I think you really need to have a bite of this eyeball.

0:18:10 > 0:18:11She's not actually mad.

0:18:11 > 0:18:14They look gross but they taste fantastic.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17I can confirm, these are edible.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23But back in the tent, it's the moment of truth

0:18:23 > 0:18:25as the biscuits come out the ovens.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28The most important part is baking it for the right time,

0:18:28 > 0:18:31you can either get it too hard or too soft.

0:18:31 > 0:18:36OK, you little monsters, you've got 30 minutes left to go, 30 minutes.

0:18:37 > 0:18:41But while the other biscuits are cooling on the side,

0:18:41 > 0:18:43Sam's haven't even gone into the oven,

0:18:43 > 0:18:47something he seems pretty cool about, considering what's at stake.

0:18:47 > 0:18:49This is the best I've done it.

0:18:49 > 0:18:54This time it's turned out really well. Au revoir.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58With Sam's biscuits finally in the oven,

0:18:58 > 0:19:02the bakers turn their attention to their all important presentation.

0:19:02 > 0:19:04It'll be in the form of a cartoon.

0:19:04 > 0:19:05Oh, that's a good idea.

0:19:05 > 0:19:09A yummy Halloween scream.

0:19:09 > 0:19:13- You're doing a scene, bubble writing as well and people talking?- Yes.

0:19:13 > 0:19:18- Good luck.- It's a very clever idea but everything is very little.

0:19:18 > 0:19:23We want originality and no-one has ever done anything like this.

0:19:23 > 0:19:25I think we're going to have to wait and see.

0:19:25 > 0:19:27With the clock ticking,

0:19:27 > 0:19:30there's been a major mix up with Freya's colourings.

0:19:30 > 0:19:32I've turned it black instead of orange.

0:19:32 > 0:19:37Somebody said that was the orange but it's the black.

0:19:39 > 0:19:42I think I'll just leave it black,

0:19:42 > 0:19:45I won't have time to change it.

0:19:45 > 0:19:46But desperate to impress the judges,

0:19:46 > 0:19:51Freya has a change of heart so starts her topping again.

0:19:51 > 0:19:55Freya is being really ambitious.

0:19:55 > 0:20:00Also, it's taken a lot on to do the popping candy and the chocolate

0:20:00 > 0:20:02and the biscuit and the icing.

0:20:02 > 0:20:04I hope she hasn't bitten off more than she can chew.

0:20:04 > 0:20:08OK guys, we've got 10 minutes left to go, 10 minutes.

0:20:08 > 0:20:12With the clock ticking away, things aren't looking so good for Sam.

0:20:12 > 0:20:15He's been so busy concentrating on getting his decoration right,

0:20:15 > 0:20:19he's forgotten about his biscuits and they've over baked.

0:20:19 > 0:20:21They were meant to bake for seven minutes

0:20:21 > 0:20:23but they baked for 17 minutes.

0:20:23 > 0:20:27Hopefully they taste all right and they don't taste burnt.

0:20:27 > 0:20:32He's got to cool those quickly because the chocolate won't set.

0:20:32 > 0:20:37Cameron is pulling out all the stops attempting a tricky toffee topping.

0:20:37 > 0:20:39How did you make that?

0:20:39 > 0:20:44I've used butter and sugar and vanilla essence.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46I've put food colouring in.

0:20:46 > 0:20:49He's done original icing which is toffee

0:20:49 > 0:20:51and that's quite a skill to make.

0:20:51 > 0:20:53The lines are dead straight.

0:20:53 > 0:20:57Cameron is doing this meticulously.

0:20:59 > 0:21:03While the spooky Halloween biscuits start to take shape,

0:21:03 > 0:21:06Freya is again having problems with her timing.

0:21:06 > 0:21:08Will she get it all done?

0:21:08 > 0:21:10OK, you've got one minute left to go.

0:21:24 > 0:21:26Finally, I'm done.

0:21:26 > 0:21:29OK, bakers, your time is up.

0:21:29 > 0:21:33Please step away from your worktops.

0:21:33 > 0:21:34That includes you.

0:21:44 > 0:21:46With the baking finally over,

0:21:46 > 0:21:50who will take the last place in the semi-finals?

0:21:51 > 0:21:54Cameron, you're up first.

0:21:54 > 0:21:58Confident Cameron, thinks his spicy toffee apple treats,

0:21:58 > 0:21:59in pumpkins and bats

0:21:59 > 0:22:02are just what the judges are looking for, but will they agree?

0:22:02 > 0:22:05I was impressed with your piping.

0:22:05 > 0:22:09You've a very steady hand but it's all in the taste.

0:22:12 > 0:22:15- The spices are coming through. - It needs more of a bake.

0:22:16 > 0:22:20It needed another five minutes in the oven.

0:22:20 > 0:22:22It's a bit too soft for me.

0:22:22 > 0:22:25Next up is speedy, Aasiyah.

0:22:25 > 0:22:29She's hoping to seal a place with her orange and white chocolate

0:22:29 > 0:22:33yummy dream, scream, spooky cartoon biscuits.

0:22:33 > 0:22:34This is original.

0:22:34 > 0:22:37I like the idea of this 3-D thing.

0:22:37 > 0:22:39It's a 3-D image on each one.

0:22:40 > 0:22:44That white chocolate and orange really comes through.

0:22:44 > 0:22:46Taste that, delicious, isn't it?

0:22:46 > 0:22:50Absolutely delicious, needed longer baking. They're thick,

0:22:50 > 0:22:54they needed longer but a very original presentation.

0:22:54 > 0:22:58Sam baked his biscuits for longer than needed,

0:22:58 > 0:23:01but will his orange, chocolate and cinnamon biscuits,

0:23:01 > 0:23:04with popping candy win the judges over?

0:23:04 > 0:23:09It's a great idea. They look like 3-D pumpkins.

0:23:09 > 0:23:12- Popping candy?- Yes. - I'm getting that.

0:23:12 > 0:23:15I think it's slightly over baked.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18Getting a slight burnt flavour.

0:23:18 > 0:23:20Beautifully crisp but a little over baked.

0:23:20 > 0:23:24Finally ambitious Freya, ran out of time

0:23:24 > 0:23:28but hopes her ginger, white chocolate and popping candy biscuits

0:23:28 > 0:23:32topped with blueberry spiders and fruit witches show her potential.

0:23:58 > 0:24:00Thanks for all your hard work.

0:24:00 > 0:24:08It's now up to the judges to decide who goes through to the semi-finals.

0:24:10 > 0:24:13But with the last place in the semi-final at stake,

0:24:13 > 0:24:16what exactly is on the judges minds?

0:24:16 > 0:24:17Start with Cameron.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20The flavour was great, the idea was great,

0:24:20 > 0:24:24apple and cinnamon. The bake let him down, like an uncooked dough.

0:24:47 > 0:24:50OK, well we're moving on to Aasiyah.

0:24:50 > 0:24:54I thought this idea was a great idea, I really did.

0:24:54 > 0:24:56Telling a story, it was ingenious.

0:24:56 > 0:25:00However, the biscuits did need a bit longer in the oven.

0:25:00 > 0:25:01Too soft again.

0:25:01 > 0:25:05Her brownie, she was the first to get it in the oven
