0:03:00 > 0:03:02- ALL: Bye!- Have a lovely time!

0:03:02 > 0:03:05Purim is the time to make lots of noise!

0:03:05 > 0:03:07RATTLE!

0:03:07 > 0:03:11So we're making these noisemakers called graggers.

0:03:11 > 0:03:15First you have to get an empty plastic bottle.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19Then, you have to take the lid off the bottle

0:03:19 > 0:03:21and fill it with beans and seeds.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34I'm putting these big seeds in.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41I'm putting some big and little seeds in mine.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46There, that's enough.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51And next we decorate the bottle!

0:03:51 > 0:03:53This is my favourite bit!

0:03:56 > 0:04:00I'm sticking stars on my bottle.

0:04:00 > 0:04:03I'm sticking red pompoms on.

0:04:03 > 0:04:07I'm sticking one of these felt flowers on my bottle.

0:04:07 > 0:04:13I'm sticking some glitter glue on. It will make it look sparkly.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42I'm going to give mine to my friend Joshua.

0:04:42 > 0:04:47He loves football and he's really excited about Purim too.

0:04:47 > 0:04:51These are our favourite treats called hamantaschen.

0:04:51 > 0:04:54They are pastry shaped like triangles.

0:04:54 > 0:04:58And I'm giving my bag to my friend Sam.

0:04:58 > 0:05:03He loves to perform and he really likes to eat hamantaschen.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06I think Sam would like this apple.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11Joshua likes fruit too.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14We can't wait for Purim!

0:05:15 > 0:05:18Those bags of goodies look delicious.

0:05:18 > 0:05:20I do hope Sam and Joshua like them.

0:05:20 > 0:05:24Now, because of all those gorgeous hamantaschen,

0:05:24 > 0:05:27I think I should get dressed up as...

0:05:27 > 0:05:30a chef! Bonjour!

0:05:31 > 0:05:34Purim is a very special celebration for Jews.

0:05:34 > 0:05:39They remember the story of one young Jewish woman who became...

0:05:39 > 0:05:41a queen.

0:05:41 > 0:05:44Would you like to hear the story?

0:05:44 > 0:05:45Then watch this.

0:05:45 > 0:05:46# Celebrate! #

0:05:46 > 0:05:50Many years ago, there lived a powerful king.

0:05:50 > 0:05:54In his vast kingdom there lived many Jews,

0:05:54 > 0:05:58including Esther, who lived with her uncle Mordechai.

0:05:58 > 0:06:02One day, the king decided to choose a new queen.

0:06:02 > 0:06:07The king had thousands and thousands of women paraded before him.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11But no matter how many he saw, none were quite right...

0:06:11 > 0:06:17until he saw Esther. She was beautiful.

0:06:17 > 0:06:20And instantly, he fell in love.

0:06:20 > 0:06:23He announced that she would be his wife

0:06:23 > 0:06:26and they got married in a huge wedding ceremony.

0:06:26 > 0:06:31Esther became Queen Esther.

0:06:31 > 0:06:33From that day on, Esther was royalty,

0:06:33 > 0:06:36but she never forgot her uncle Mordechai

0:06:36 > 0:06:40and the Jewish friends she had left behind.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44Now, the king had a special helper called Haman,

0:06:44 > 0:06:47but nobody realised that Haman was wicked.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51And he hated Esther's uncle Mordechai.

0:06:51 > 0:06:55Years before, Haman had demanded that all the Jews bow down

0:06:55 > 0:06:58and worship him as if he were a god.

0:06:58 > 0:07:03But Mordechai refused and Haman swore he would get his revenge.

0:07:03 > 0:07:09So, one day, Haman told lies to the king!

0:07:09 > 0:07:14He said some people in the kingdom didn't obey the king's laws.

0:07:14 > 0:07:20Haman told the king to command that these people be put to death!

0:07:20 > 0:07:23But these people, the Jews, were Esther's people

0:07:23 > 0:07:28and, not realising that Queen Esther was a Jew,

0:07:28 > 0:07:32the king agreed to Haman's wicked scheme.

0:07:32 > 0:07:36Mordechai told Esther she must speak to the king,

0:07:36 > 0:07:41or else her friends and family would be killed.

0:07:41 > 0:07:45Who knows? Maybe the whole reason God had helped her become queen

0:07:45 > 0:07:48was so she could rescue the Jews.

0:07:48 > 0:07:54So, days later, Esther found the courage to meet with the king,

0:07:54 > 0:08:00where, nervously, she explained that someone wanted to kill her.

0:08:00 > 0:08:05The king was furious and demanded to know who it was.

0:08:05 > 0:08:08"It's him!" she cried, pointing at Haman.

0:08:08 > 0:08:13"I am Jewish and he wants to kill me and all my people!"

0:08:13 > 0:08:15The king was outraged.

0:08:15 > 0:08:17His advisor had betrayed him.

0:08:17 > 0:08:22Immediately, he ordered his guards to take Haman away.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25Esther had saved her people.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28Mordechai and Esther declared that Jews

0:08:28 > 0:08:31should celebrate with feasts and parties,

0:08:31 > 0:08:35to give gifts to their friends and to the poor.

0:08:35 > 0:08:41And that's why the festival of Purim is celebrated to this very day.

0:08:41 > 0:08:43# Celebrate! #

0:08:43 > 0:08:46Isn't that a fantastic story?

0:08:46 > 0:08:49Queen Esther stopped Haman's wicked plan.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52I need to put my costumes away now.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55But it's time for Eden and Lulu to dress up

0:08:55 > 0:08:57for their Purim celebration.

0:08:57 > 0:09:01Can you remember what costumes they chose?

0:09:01 > 0:09:03Let's see if you're right!

0:09:09 > 0:09:12We can get all dressed up and have so much fun!

0:09:51 > 0:09:54Look at the two grannies!

0:09:57 > 0:10:00There's Lulu, look at her go.
