0:00:09 > 0:00:12Hey, Lifebabblers. Today we're talking about relationships.
0:00:12 > 0:00:15Whether you have a massive group of friends, a select few,
0:00:15 > 0:00:18or prefer being on your own, we all have people in our lives.
0:00:18 > 0:00:21But what exactly is a relationship?
0:00:21 > 0:00:24Relationships are the connections we make with other people.
0:00:24 > 0:00:27Some relationships will be a strong bond that we keep for life.
0:00:27 > 0:00:29And some will only last for a short time.
0:00:29 > 0:00:32And of course, some people have boyfriends and girlfriends.
0:00:32 > 0:00:33Romantic relationships.
0:00:33 > 0:00:36We can have relationships with people we don't always get on with.
0:00:36 > 0:00:39- Maybe it's a classmate or even a sibling.- Oi!
0:00:39 > 0:00:41It's just an example.
0:00:41 > 0:00:42(It's not.)
0:00:42 > 0:00:46But the best relationships are the ones in which people work together,
0:00:46 > 0:00:49make each other happy and look out for each other.
0:00:49 > 0:00:51Every relationship is different,
0:00:51 > 0:00:53because every person is different.
0:00:53 > 0:00:56Like, if I'm struggling with some work, my mum will be like...
0:00:56 > 0:01:00Darling, want some help? How is it going? Is it too hard?
0:01:00 > 0:01:03- You want Mummy to have a go? - Mum, I can do it!
0:01:03 > 0:01:04And my dad will be like...
0:01:04 > 0:01:08Parle, you need to work faster. How complicated can it be?
0:01:08 > 0:01:09Look at that question properly
0:01:09 > 0:01:13- and do it faster. - OK, Dad, no pressure(!)
0:01:13 > 0:01:14We have different relationships
0:01:14 > 0:01:16but they're both supporting me in their own ways
0:01:16 > 0:01:18and I love them both for that.
0:01:19 > 0:01:22My little sister is my best friend. We are really close.
0:01:22 > 0:01:24I love the relationship I have with my aunt.
0:01:24 > 0:01:27She's super funny and she's always interested in what I have to say.
0:01:27 > 0:01:29My brother has always been my best friend.
0:01:29 > 0:01:32We make music together, laugh together about everything.
0:01:32 > 0:01:34That is a positive relationship.
0:01:34 > 0:01:36PHONE RINGS
0:01:36 > 0:01:40I think relationships are a good way to bond with each other
0:01:40 > 0:01:43and it's not all just about your family.
0:01:43 > 0:01:47It's about your friends who come to you when you're upset.
0:01:47 > 0:01:50They really help you think about the good stuff
0:01:50 > 0:01:52and not the bad stuff.
0:01:52 > 0:01:55A positive relationship is when both of you
0:01:55 > 0:01:58have each other's best interests at heart.
0:01:58 > 0:02:00Sometimes, this can be hard to recognise.
0:02:00 > 0:02:03In a positive relationship, you listen and are listened to.
0:02:03 > 0:02:06That doesn't mean that there aren't challenges and obstacles.
0:02:06 > 0:02:07The most important thing
0:02:07 > 0:02:10is that both of you are free and safe to be yourselves.
0:02:12 > 0:02:17Sometimes a relationship can make a person feel uncomfortable or uneasy.
0:02:17 > 0:02:18Whatever kind of relationships you have,
0:02:18 > 0:02:21make sure you respect each other's individual likes and needs.
0:02:21 > 0:02:23When someone's in a negative relationship,
0:02:23 > 0:02:26they may feel undermined, upset or bad about themselves.
0:02:26 > 0:02:29And tell someone straight away if a relationship's making you
0:02:29 > 0:02:32feel uncomfortable or putting you in danger.
0:02:32 > 0:02:34I had a school friend growing up
0:02:34 > 0:02:36that I knew for a really long time
0:02:36 > 0:02:38and as we grew up, we started to change quite a bit.
0:02:38 > 0:02:41I had a friend who always took jokes too far.
0:02:41 > 0:02:42To her, they seemed funny,
0:02:42 > 0:02:44but to me, they actually hurt my feelings.
0:02:44 > 0:02:47Because of this, we started to fight a lot.
0:02:47 > 0:02:50So one day, I'd had enough and I told her how I felt
0:02:50 > 0:02:51and she apologised and said to me
0:02:51 > 0:02:54that she didn't actually realise how hurtful they were,
0:02:54 > 0:02:56and ever since then, she stopped making those jokes.
0:02:56 > 0:02:59In the end we both apologised and decided just to accept
0:02:59 > 0:03:01each other's differences and be kinder to each other.
0:03:01 > 0:03:03PHONE RINGS
0:03:03 > 0:03:07I've been sort of thinking about getting in a relationship because,
0:03:07 > 0:03:11you know, all my friends are trying to get into one
0:03:11 > 0:03:16and been finding all these girls who they like and I've sort of realised
0:03:16 > 0:03:18that I'm not ready for it yet.
0:03:19 > 0:03:21It's important to know your boundaries.
0:03:21 > 0:03:23That doesn't mean building a wall around yourself -
0:03:23 > 0:03:27it just means knowing what is and isn't OK for you in a relationship.
0:03:27 > 0:03:30Like, some people love hugging their mates,
0:03:30 > 0:03:32and some people prefer a bit more personal space.
0:03:32 > 0:03:34And some people like a little bit of both.
0:03:34 > 0:03:36It's all about knowing your own mind,
0:03:36 > 0:03:38so you can recognise if someone's crossing a boundary
0:03:38 > 0:03:41and does something you are not OK with.
0:03:41 > 0:03:43That's all for this Lifebabble.
