:00:08. > :00:12.Hello and welcome to a very special edition of Live 'n' Deadly. This is

:00:12. > :00:22.all about getting behind the scenes and showing you how the series is

:00:22. > :00:22.

:00:22. > :00:32.made. Inside this band is where all the magic happens. -- the ban.

:00:32. > :00:39.me today. Not live, are we. But we need to stop the show? Just press

:00:39. > :00:49.one of the buttons. That one there. That wasn't the right one. Should I

:00:49. > :00:54.

:00:54. > :01:04.tried another one? I think you should. This is Live 'n' Deadly.

:01:04. > :01:14.You are coming with us every step of the way. Start on the soap on a

:01:14. > :01:18.

:01:18. > :01:22.Saturday morning -- sofa... Every Live 'n' Deadly is rammed

:01:22. > :01:27.with action-packed stunts, inspiring guests, thrilling

:01:27. > :01:32.adventures and a whole host of deadly gritters. But as it is only

:01:32. > :01:35.60 minutes long, you don't get to see half of what goes on. In this

:01:35. > :01:40.programme, we will take it behind the scenes to show you what it

:01:40. > :01:45.really takes to make your Saturday's live and deadly. --

:01:45. > :01:51.Saturdays. The biggest aquarium in Great Britain. The National

:01:51. > :01:59.aquarium in Plymouth, packed with all put up -- kind of deadly marine

:01:59. > :02:05.creatures. Perfect for a marine theme show. One of my absolute

:02:05. > :02:09.favourite coming up here. I have got here a giant Pacific octopus.

:02:09. > :02:14.One of the most remarkable things about these animals is how

:02:14. > :02:18.inquisitive and tactile they are. Octopuses are some of my favourite

:02:18. > :02:21.marine animals, they are so complex and sophisticated and to get this

:02:22. > :02:30.close to one that is so friendly is just a perfect way to start the

:02:30. > :02:35.show. Found in the cold waters of North

:02:35. > :02:41.America, Pacific octopuses actively seek out and hunt crabs. To do this

:02:41. > :02:49.successfully, it has evolved to be one of the most intelligent hunters

:02:49. > :02:54.on earth. And that's what we hope to demonstrate in the share with a

:02:54. > :02:59.neat trick. During rehearsal, we gave the octopus a job with some

:02:59. > :03:05.fish inside and incredibly, it was able to and screw the lid Piquet at

:03:05. > :03:12.the fish -- buns group. It is doing good. That is amazing. What we

:03:12. > :03:20.weren't expecting was how much the octopus liked Steve.

:03:20. > :03:30.It is using quite powerful muscles... This is going to be

:03:30. > :03:31.

:03:31. > :03:34.comedy! You'll have to cut back. -- at that.

:03:34. > :03:38.There is so much about their biology that is unusual and

:03:38. > :03:41.although I have been with them many times in the wild, to find one that

:03:41. > :03:46.genuinely wants to interact with ear and his touching year, it is

:03:46. > :03:52.wonderful. Really interacting with an animal like that is a great

:03:52. > :03:55.opportunity. -- interact with you. As you can imagine, you can't just

:03:55. > :04:00.turn up at a Live 'n' Deadly location, plug-in the cameras and

:04:00. > :04:05.go. So how exactly do we get somewhere like this massive

:04:05. > :04:13.aquarium ready for filming the? Well, before anything can happen,

:04:13. > :04:18.at the convoy rolls in. -- the convoy. Live 'n' Deadly had an army

:04:18. > :04:24.of people who arrive with some specialist kit. In fact, lorryloads

:04:24. > :04:29.of specialist kit. And it wouldn't be Live 'n' Deadly if we didn't

:04:29. > :04:38.bring one or two unique machines, like our very own customised golf

:04:38. > :04:44.buggy, but more about that later. So, while we are having a first

:04:44. > :04:50.look around and getting our bearings, others are way ahead of

:04:50. > :04:59.us. The Reading team is responsible for of the camera and electrical

:04:59. > :05:08.cables, without them, we wouldn't even be alive -- reading. -- live.

:05:08. > :05:18.We have all got nicknames. He looks like a bison. Chris is called

:05:18. > :05:21.

:05:21. > :05:29."fish". Martin is called "meerkat". I am China. Because my great, great

:05:29. > :05:32.grandmother was Japanese. Makes perfect sense, thanks for that.

:05:32. > :05:37.Wiring up the aquarium takes over 15 kilometres of cable, some of

:05:37. > :05:41.which even has to be hauled over the grooves to make sure every area

:05:41. > :05:51.is accessible to the camera team. - - roofs. Once that is done,

:05:51. > :05:55.everything should work. But how does it work? I am the resident

:05:55. > :05:59.Live 'n' Deadly boffin and I will tell you how pictures get from here

:05:59. > :06:09.to how you see it at home. The images start in a light for bat and

:06:09. > :06:17.

:06:17. > :06:22.hit through the lens... -- format. SNORING. And that is when they

:06:22. > :06:26.ended through your television set. Thanks, but they travel 150,000

:06:26. > :06:33.kilometres and bands of two satellites before they reach your

:06:33. > :06:37.TV -- bounced off. All that happens in the fraction of a second. With

:06:37. > :06:41.so the people are more than the making of Live 'n' Deadly, it is

:06:41. > :06:45.really important that everyone knows what is going on -- so many

:06:45. > :06:52.people. So we wear microphones and earpieces, which enable us to hear

:06:52. > :06:56.the director in his gallery. Could you say hello to Naomi and

:06:56. > :07:02.listen to her microphone? I am now just going to have people talking

:07:02. > :07:05.in my ear all day, you get used to blocking them out.

:07:05. > :07:10.But this communication is crucial, because everybody has a specific

:07:10. > :07:14.role in the team and need to constantly keep in touch. Robert's

:07:14. > :07:18.job is to make sure everyone is in the right place at the right time

:07:18. > :07:24.and knows what is going on. He is in constant communication with

:07:24. > :07:27.James, the director, who hits the shop that goes to your telly. And

:07:27. > :07:33.overall in charge, Stewart, the hard-working producer, who comes up

:07:33. > :07:40.with all of the fund and not so fun things for me and Steve to do --

:07:40. > :07:44.fun. But it is the runners who always seemed to be the most busy.

:07:44. > :07:49.We never actually get to see what they do, because they have to stay

:07:49. > :07:54.one step ahead of the crew. So we have built her a sophisticated

:07:54. > :07:57.surveillance device. You are always so busy, doing so

:07:57. > :08:02.many brilliant things, but if you wouldn't mind wearing this,

:08:02. > :08:12.everyone will be able to see what Europe too. Do you mind? No, I

:08:12. > :08:15.

:08:16. > :08:21.would love to. -- see what you are up to. It looks great. In situ.

:08:21. > :08:27.Who -- go by. While Catherine get on with her work, Steve and I have

:08:27. > :08:33.Boro and to do. Live And deadly is all about -- Live 'n' Deadly is all

:08:33. > :08:38.about inspiring you to get out and do things, so we ask guests each

:08:38. > :08:48.week to take Steve on in a head-to- head challenge. And the marine show

:08:48. > :08:50.

:08:50. > :08:54.is no exception. Meet Dave Cornthwaite. Dave really is the

:08:54. > :09:00.master of the board, having skateboarder across the whole of

:09:00. > :09:04.Australia. He goes kayaking as well, all part of his mission to create -

:09:04. > :09:08.- complete 25 journeys across the world's wildest places and using

:09:08. > :09:16.nothing but manpower. His latest trip was paddled boarding the

:09:16. > :09:20.Mississippi River. That paddle boarding. I am plump, I know Steve

:09:20. > :09:26.Backshall is quite competitive -- I am pump. I'm looking forward to

:09:26. > :09:31.just beating him. For the challenge, they will race using one of the

:09:31. > :09:34.oldest known types of boat, a coracle. As we found dead during

:09:34. > :09:39.rehearsal, although perfectly designed for paddling on Khan

:09:39. > :09:46.rivers, they seem not to be designed for racing. That harm

:09:46. > :09:51.rivers. Stand by, Naomi. We are down by the waterfront at

:09:51. > :09:54.front of the marina where it is time for Steve and Dave to go head-

:09:55. > :09:59.to-head in the guest challenge. You are both at home on the water, both

:09:59. > :10:04.have done lots of sailing and surfing and diving, using the

:10:04. > :10:07.latest gizmos and gadgets, but we are going back to basics. The aim

:10:07. > :10:17.of the game is to paddle out to the market, rounded and back again

:10:17. > :10:17.

:10:17. > :10:27.first stop -- rounded and back again. Are you ready? Yes. 3, 2, 1,

:10:27. > :10:29.

:10:30. > :10:39.go. And off they go. It is like the Roman Neve --

:10:40. > :10:40.

:10:40. > :10:50.invasion. His Steve sinking? This is not good! It is back to shore

:10:50. > :10:53.

:10:53. > :11:03.up! Are used thinking? -- are you sinking? He is thinking! -- a

:11:03. > :11:23.

:11:23. > :11:27.sinking! Oh, No. I think we know Keep going, Dave. I want that to

:11:27. > :11:32.happen tomorrow. Paul Steve, he is not usually so

:11:32. > :11:38.rubbish in boats. -- Paul. In fact, it has been difficult keeping him

:11:38. > :11:43.out of them. Every good share need a RBS adventure, so this summer

:11:43. > :11:48.heat that -- every good showed need a Steve adventure, so far this show,

:11:48. > :11:52.he travelled to the end of the country. We are in Land's End, and

:11:52. > :11:55.we will try and paddle around the one of the most iconic parts of the

:11:55. > :12:00.country, where Great Britain gives way to the North Atlantic. I have

:12:00. > :12:05.been paddling for most of my life, but I still know that at sea, there

:12:05. > :12:10.is safety in numbers. I am being guided by Simon, who has paddled

:12:10. > :12:14.around the whole country. Are you ready? Let's go for it.

:12:14. > :12:17.aim is to kayak 10 miles around this coast and I am hoping that on

:12:18. > :12:21.the way, we will spot plenty of birds and if we are lucky, a few

:12:21. > :12:25.seals. Look at that.

:12:25. > :12:29.But the biggest challenge will be battling the sea itself. Around

:12:29. > :12:35.here, the weather and the tides are notoriously difficult, with waves

:12:35. > :12:38.that can crash right so that these 40 metre high cliffs.

:12:38. > :12:41.-- right over. We are out of the shelter of the

:12:41. > :12:44.mainland. It is perfect for sea kayaks

:12:44. > :12:54.surfing. But the crew, in the safety of

:12:54. > :12:59.their boat, are having a tough time of it.

:12:59. > :13:04.The Cornish coastline is littered with shipwrecks, many of them

:13:04. > :13:08.completely sunk, and this one is still visible, up on the rocks. Can

:13:08. > :13:13.you imagine the power of the weather and the waves that would

:13:13. > :13:18.have to Strand this boat here. It must have been thousands of tons of

:13:18. > :13:23.metal and it has been shredded by nature. Impressive stuff.

:13:23. > :13:28.But the same rocks that are so dangerous for humans provide a

:13:28. > :13:33.haven for some stonking wildlife. On the rocks ahead of May are an

:13:33. > :13:39.awful lot of birds, but there is also, down by the waterline, the

:13:39. > :13:44.nice, light, ferry shapes. They are seals, and they are also starting

:13:44. > :13:48.to pay as interest. Very intelligent animals, very

:13:48. > :13:58.interested, they always wanted checkout something new in the world.

:13:58. > :13:59.

:13:59. > :14:08.Hello. -- always want to. He is a big old boy. That is a male

:14:08. > :14:13.grey seals. -- grey seals. I have tried to get an underwater sharp.

:14:13. > :14:20.But the crew tell me it is impossible. -- An underwater shot.

:14:20. > :14:23.Look at that. It is so lucky, lovely to see these white torpedo

:14:23. > :14:28.shapes zipping underneath the kayak, it makes you want to get in with

:14:28. > :14:32.them, but they really are masters of the underwater world, and they

:14:32. > :14:42.seemed quite ungainly and slower than they are on land, but I soon

:14:42. > :14:49.

:14:49. > :14:53.as they are in the water, they are When they are under water hunting

:14:53. > :14:57.they use their whiskers to feel the motion of fish in the water. When

:14:57. > :15:01.they come to the surface it's all about eyesight. They stand up as

:15:01. > :15:05.tall as possible out of the water, and get a really good look at you.

:15:05. > :15:10.The water is full of them. You would never have been able to get

:15:10. > :15:16.that encounter from the land. It's only because I was in my kayak and

:15:16. > :15:22.part of their world this they dare to come so close. I do see it! Just

:15:22. > :15:27.when we thought it couldn't get any better. We bumped into one of the

:15:27. > :15:34.strangest fish in the world that lives in British waters. Paddling

:15:34. > :15:39.towards me, you might be able to make out a tall fin in the water,

:15:39. > :15:43.heading straight towards me. This is a sun fish. That is just

:15:43. > :15:48.extraordinary. This animal lives almost entirely on jellyfish. It's

:15:48. > :15:52.capable of taking on things that would certainly give me a nasty

:15:52. > :15:56.sting. They grow to be a truly extraordinary size. Fully grown sun

:15:57. > :16:01.fish can weigh more than a car. They can be well over three meters

:16:01. > :16:06.in length. When they hatch, they are only a quarter of a centimetre.

:16:06. > :16:11.To put that in perspective. If humans grew at the same rate we

:16:11. > :16:15.would end up nearly twice the height of the I fell tower. I have

:16:15. > :16:21.to say, it's one of the most peculiar looking fish I've ever

:16:21. > :16:29.seen. Look at the size of that eye! Really, really strange looking.

:16:29. > :16:35.This is an absolutely classic shape, just sat at the surface, almost

:16:35. > :16:39.seeming to enjoying basking. Isn't he wonderful? I have to say, I

:16:40. > :16:46.absolutely love this place. What a result. Despite having to battle

:16:46. > :16:52.the heavy seas we've seen shed loads of wildlife today. The sun

:16:52. > :16:58.fish was the icing on the cake. It just goes to show, kayaking gives

:16:58. > :17:04.you a totally unique way to get into the coastal world. This rocky

:17:04. > :17:10.ridge line is Lands End. If I was to paddle in that direction, the

:17:10. > :17:19.next landfall would be America. America will have to wait. I need

:17:19. > :17:29.it get back to dry land. That means one last bit of fun. It's time for

:17:29. > :17:52.

:17:52. > :17:57.kayak surfing. Ahh! Ha-ha. Whoa. Ha-ha. YES! The locations we choose

:17:57. > :18:02.to fis am Live 'n' Deadly give us great views of fantastic deadly

:18:02. > :18:07.creatures. Our marine-themed show is no exception. Plymouth Aquarium

:18:07. > :18:12.is my favourite aquarium in the whole world, it's pretty impressive.

:18:12. > :18:16.The stuff the public see is the tip of the Eisenberg, or, should I say,

:18:16. > :18:23.a drop in the ocean. We can show you something you wouldn't normally

:18:23. > :18:31.get the chance to see. Ignoring that. Fishy smell. This is where

:18:31. > :18:38.all of the yummy food, for all the fish, sharks, gets prepared. You

:18:38. > :18:42.wouldn't want to spend too long in here, it honks. This here is the

:18:42. > :18:48.quarantine area. All the fish, before they go into the main tanks,

:18:48. > :18:58.have to be vetted to make sure they won't spread diseases to the

:18:58. > :18:58.

:18:59. > :19:03.animals out there. This is the nerve centre. There are two-and-a-

:19:03. > :19:08.half Olympic swimming pools worth of water here. Don't ever press the

:19:08. > :19:18.red button. It's all very exciting. Look at this, seahorses. This is

:19:18. > :19:20.

:19:20. > :19:26.where they are breeding. Very, very cool. Lots of really good science

:19:26. > :19:33.goes on behind-the-scenes at Plymouth Aquarium. These are

:19:33. > :19:40.wonderful jellyfish. This looks promising. Clown fish. They are

:19:40. > :19:44.just the cutest. This is the really exciting bit. This is the place

:19:44. > :19:49.where all the members of the public dream they can come. It's the top

:19:49. > :19:54.of the shark tank. In a couple of hours' time I will get my wetsuit

:19:54. > :19:58.on and I'm going to be going in there. You certainly are. Just like

:19:58. > :20:04.every week on Live 'n' Deadly, we have a big ending to the show. This

:20:04. > :20:10.week it's for Steve to swim with the aquarium's three huge sharks.

:20:10. > :20:14.This won't ab problem for him as he is no stranger to big scary fish

:20:14. > :20:24.with teeth. No matter how many times I do this, there is still

:20:24. > :20:33.

:20:33. > :20:37.Now, that's all very well for Steve, but for me, just looking at them

:20:37. > :20:44.turns my legs to jelly. This week I have to do a lot more than just

:20:44. > :20:48.For this Saturday's Live 'n' Deadly Stuart, the producer, wants me to

:20:48. > :20:54.do something, to be honest with you, I'm not sure I will be able to do

:20:54. > :20:57.or not. He wants me to feed the aquarium's three sharks. Since I've

:20:57. > :21:03.been little I've always been terrified of sharks. I don't like

:21:03. > :21:07.looking at pictures of them. I don't go to aquariums. I avoid all

:21:08. > :21:13.those things. I will get closer than I have ever come before to a

:21:13. > :21:19.shark. I'm terrified. The aquarium show is here. I'm determined to

:21:19. > :21:25.sort out my fears. It will be fine! This is James he looks after the

:21:25. > :21:29.sharks. Hello. He said it will be a safe and exciting experience.

:21:29. > :21:32.will be safe. We have had the sharks for 13 years and we have

:21:32. > :21:39.never had any accidents or problems before. Come on then. Show me what

:21:39. > :21:45.I have to do. On this series, Steve has been helping me to come to

:21:45. > :21:52.terms with my phobias. I managed to overcome my fear of spiders. I

:21:52. > :21:57.can't believe I'm holding this. Neither can I. Now, I'm hoping to

:21:57. > :22:02.get over my fear of sharks too. Despite being scared of them, in my

:22:02. > :22:08.hearts of hearts, I know these ones here are not really dangerous.

:22:08. > :22:15.likes to have a close look at us when we dive. They are just staring

:22:15. > :22:23.at us, aren't they? Look how close these two are. This is freaking me

:22:23. > :22:33.out, sorry. There is Enzo. Showing us her teeth. There are the teeth.

:22:33. > :22:35.

:22:35. > :22:40.Have a little look behind you. are known as ragged tooth sharks.

:22:40. > :22:49.Those teeth stick out because they are the equivalent of fish hooks.

:22:49. > :22:56.They snatch at fish passing by. That is all they eat, just fish.

:22:56. > :23:01.Sometimes they will swim right over your head? They will do sometimes.

:23:01. > :23:06.There is a fear of sharks... can't say I enjoyed my first shark

:23:06. > :23:10.meeting. James was really great and did help me to become a little more

:23:10. > :23:18.comfortable. The big question was, how would I react, live on the show,

:23:18. > :23:22.when I actually had to habd hand feed them? Every week on Live 'n'

:23:22. > :23:27.Deadly we like to kick off the show with an exciting opening. Given

:23:27. > :23:34.that we have come to a massive aquarium, it seems only right for

:23:34. > :23:43.Steve to get wet. This week, what we will do, Naomi will talk down

:23:43. > :23:47.stairs in front of the big tank and I'm going to free dive down sit

:23:47. > :23:51.behind her and hold up boards with messages on them. Like. This

:23:51. > :23:55.hopefully, she should read them. It will say what is coming up in the

:23:55. > :23:59.rest of the show. It's chilly in there. I might have to be down

:23:59. > :24:04.there for quite a while. I'm taking deep breathes and getting a lot of

:24:04. > :24:09.oxygen on board. I think it will be fun. Fish tanks don't come much

:24:09. > :24:13.bigger than, this do they? Is the biggest aquarium in Britain. On

:24:13. > :24:19.this week's Live 'n' Deadly... Steve needs to take a big deep

:24:19. > :24:23.breath on cue, dive down to me, so he arrives at the right moment. Co-

:24:23. > :24:33.ordinating his dive, with my words, on only a single breath of air, all

:24:33. > :24:35.

:24:35. > :24:39.to the satisfaction of the producer, is far more tricky than you'd think.

:24:39. > :24:49.No surprise that something as complicated as this will need more

:24:49. > :24:51.

:24:51. > :24:54.than just one take. So, it's down you go again. To meet all sorts of

:24:54. > :25:04.incredible creatures that live in our seas. Yes, Steve will be diving

:25:04. > :25:07.

:25:07. > :25:17.with some of the biggest and most deadly. Almost, but how about this?

:25:17. > :25:22.

:25:22. > :25:32.Could you mouth the words, as you are saying it. Perfect. Nailed it

:25:32. > :25:34.

:25:34. > :25:40.in three takes. Nice one, Steve. YEAH! Please tell me I can get out

:25:40. > :25:47.of this freezing tank now. Still recording. One of the jobs we have

:25:47. > :25:53.to do when we get to the location is record our commentaries for the

:25:53. > :25:57.films we run during the show. travels to the Scottish mountains

:25:57. > :26:04.to attempt some of the toughest bike trails in the country. I will

:26:04. > :26:11.be meeting one of my favourite under water animals.... I will dive

:26:11. > :26:16.live with a shiver of sharks. It's a dream of a marine theme but a

:26:16. > :26:21.nightmare for Naomi. Look what he saw, it's a leather back turtle.

:26:21. > :26:26.Now, Wyles I like to stick to the script, Steve, well, he likes to

:26:26. > :26:31.make it up as he goes along. They will eat birds, crash true through

:26:31. > :26:36.the surface to hit seals even things as tough as turtles. I can

:26:36. > :26:42.say with certainty and confidence, they don't munch people. Despite

:26:42. > :26:47.adding his own twist, he has a trick of getting it spot on every

:26:47. > :26:53.time. That crab is history. Very nice. With the director happy, we

:26:53. > :26:59.can now get on with the fun stuff. Because Live 'n' Deadly is, well,

:27:00. > :27:06.live, every week we take a gamble. Where animals are concerned, things

:27:07. > :27:12.don't always go according to plan. Come on, fella. No, he didn't want

:27:12. > :27:16.to. Not over there. You can't go that way. Cop come on, down you

:27:16. > :27:24.come. Step away from the television Prenter. I think he has got his

:27:24. > :27:32.eyes on you, fellas. Come on, up you come. Where are you off to?

:27:32. > :27:37.hope to film a special animal doing something remarkable. It's amantra

:27:37. > :27:42.scrimps. They feed on hard bodied crustations. In order to get

:27:42. > :27:47.through through their armour, they have a neat trick. Charlie, a

:27:47. > :27:53.byologist from the air aquarium, looks after them. She has one in

:27:53. > :28:00.training called Monty. They are a unique predator, in the fact that

:28:00. > :28:07.they are able, with his friend claws, he can punch. It is so fast

:28:07. > :28:17.you can barely see it with the human eye. The force they expel is

:28:17. > :28:17.

:28:17. > :28:24.the equivalent of a bullment coming out of a gun a point 22 rival. We

:28:24. > :28:29.had to take him off there to give him private tuition. Not that he

:28:29. > :28:33.needed encouragement. We have been playing around with dead crabs and

:28:33. > :28:37.dead prawns to see what takes his fancy. He is doing well and

:28:37. > :28:43.building his muscles up nicely. Although our track record with live

:28:43. > :28:53.animals is pretty good, Steve is sceptical about Monty's ability to

:28:53. > :28:56.

:28:56. > :29:04.perform. He seems interested, but is he going to punch? It's totally

:29:04. > :29:10.explosive. It's amazing. YES! That was out of this world. Absolutely,

:29:10. > :29:15.out of this world. This is an animal I filmed in the wild many,

:29:15. > :29:20.many times. They are nervous and go into their burrows when you come

:29:20. > :29:25.close to you. Having one like this that is willing to come out, bam,

:29:25. > :29:31.bam, hit the crab like that. If that happens on air I will bounce

:29:31. > :29:36.around like a rubber ball for the next two hours. Monty is pretty

:29:36. > :29:40.cute as far as deadly creatures go. Now it's time for me to get close

:29:40. > :29:50.to one I'm not keen on. It's time for me to rehearse feeding the

:29:50. > :29:55.

:29:55. > :30:03.It would be good to watch it can see what I am going to have to do.

:30:03. > :30:10.Just to see what happens. They are so sedate a. They are moving so

:30:10. > :30:19.sedately. It is gentle, it is not a frenzy. They are used to getting

:30:20. > :30:27.fed at a set time, they are used to routines. Yes, they know... But I

:30:27. > :30:30.am terrified. It is just being this close to sharks. Normally, you are

:30:30. > :30:35.in the aquarium and you have the glass in between you and the sharks

:30:35. > :30:45.and now I am within touching distance and they keep Swimming By.

:30:45. > :30:52.So I am pretty petrified, it has to be said.

:30:52. > :30:55.Nice and quiet, three, two... the danger of sharks to human

:30:56. > :31:01.beings is massively overstated, but it is not totally irrational fear,

:31:01. > :31:05.they are very big fish with a very sharp teeth, and many people are

:31:05. > :31:10.terrified of sharks, and one of those people is my co-presenter,

:31:10. > :31:15.Naomi. She genuinely is absolutely terrified of sharks but we never

:31:15. > :31:22.let up she is, she is willing to face the fear. -- we know how tough

:31:22. > :31:26.for her she is. Come monad. You are smiling, that is a good start --

:31:26. > :31:31.come on out. Obviously, we are going to be on this side of this

:31:31. > :31:37.wall here, so there is no way the sharks can come close to us. I

:31:37. > :31:43.understand why you are frightened of sharks,... But I feel like one

:31:43. > :31:49.of those people at the ice rink, where you hold onto the edge.

:31:49. > :31:53.Just come and sit down. They are doing circuits of the tank at the

:31:53. > :31:57.moment, I have got some fish blood and going to pour into the water,

:31:57. > :32:02.and because they have such a stunning sense of smell, that

:32:02. > :32:09.should attract them to start cruising into place. Just come and

:32:09. > :32:13.sit next to me, and just keep relaxed, drop your shoulders, brief

:32:13. > :32:19.nice and deeply, and I am just going to see if I can entice one of

:32:19. > :32:22.these wonderful animals to come close. You do trust me? Totally.

:32:22. > :32:28.All of the animals I have got due to face your fear, they are animals

:32:28. > :32:31.that cannot do you any harm, and that is the same here. They are

:32:31. > :32:38.surprisingly gentle, the way they move through the water, but any

:32:38. > :32:42.second now, I think one of them is going to cruise by. There is one

:32:42. > :32:50.coming by. If I put it into the water, just one metre or so in

:32:50. > :32:55.front of its snout... Did she take it? She certainly did. I didn't see

:32:55. > :33:00.it. Why do you think they have you particularly spooked? It they just

:33:00. > :33:04.looked evil, they are massive and they have big teeth. But it doesn't

:33:04. > :33:09.stop me going in the sea, so I don't know where the fear comes

:33:09. > :33:16.from. Basing your fear like this, it could add a real extra element

:33:16. > :33:19.to live, you can go scuba-diving, which I know you could not be

:33:19. > :33:24.before -- facing a. It would be good if I could get comfortable, I

:33:24. > :33:29.really do want to feel comfortable around Sharks, because they are

:33:29. > :33:34.beautiful creatures. They are such a fascinating beast, so much of

:33:34. > :33:39.their biology is fascinating, they have had 400 million plus years of

:33:39. > :33:49.evolution for... Here we go, at the surface. Now that is what we were

:33:49. > :33:53.

:33:53. > :34:02.Flipping heck. What do you think? Horrible. It is pretty good.

:34:02. > :34:06.are brave. Do you know what? I reckon you have faced your fear.

:34:06. > :34:10.Finally facing my fear has really helped, but this is only a

:34:10. > :34:15.rehearsal, which means that tomorrow, I have to do it all again,

:34:15. > :34:20.and next time, I am going to be the one holding the ball.

:34:20. > :34:24.I think the longer I am in their company, the better it is getting.

:34:24. > :34:30.The fear is subsiding. She did remarkably well. It is quite freaky

:34:30. > :34:34.for anyone to get that close to such a powerful predator, but Naomi,

:34:34. > :34:37.who has been terrified of them since she was a kid, I am proud of

:34:37. > :34:42.her. It will be even better tomorrow.

:34:42. > :34:52.Now, we are all about excitement on Live 'n' Deadly and this series is

:34:52. > :35:02.

:35:02. > :35:07.While all the challenges we have done have been a scream, literally,

:35:07. > :35:12.one of the most exciting for me was to fly like a bird. This bird, a

:35:12. > :35:16.red kite. It is an increasingly common bird of prey, especially in

:35:16. > :35:21.South Wales, and looks fantastic as it effortlessly glides in the air

:35:21. > :35:24.without beating its wings. On a sunny day, I met up with Steve

:35:24. > :35:29.Milsom, he was going to help me take to the air.

:35:29. > :35:35.I know I look like a Teletubby, but I have to cameras on my head, want

:35:35. > :35:40.to film Steve and want to get the bird's eye view, so you will see

:35:40. > :35:44.what I am seeing -- 1. I need to practice, because running

:35:44. > :35:54.off a cliff goes against all my instincts.

:35:54. > :35:55.

:35:55. > :36:05.When I do it for real, I have got to run into nothing.

:36:05. > :36:09.

:36:09. > :36:19.Once everything was set, we were SHRIEKS.

:36:19. > :36:29.

:36:29. > :36:32.Oh, my goodness! Oh, well. -- well. -- wow. These magnificent birds are

:36:32. > :36:36.able to dive down to the ground and grab their food with pinpoint

:36:36. > :36:46.accuracy, so the team have placed a flag on the hillside for me to

:36:46. > :36:54.

:36:54. > :37:03.snatch as we flew past. Simple! You can pick up some speed, can't

:37:03. > :37:11.you? It is getting a bit hairy. That was the closest.

:37:12. > :37:16.We really just can't do this, can Come on, come to me, flag.

:37:16. > :37:20.Well, the red kite, with its aerobatic expertise will make this

:37:20. > :37:25.look easy, but although we tried again and again, be couldn't get

:37:25. > :37:29.anywhere near the flag, so although I may have failed in my challenge,

:37:29. > :37:33.I gained a lot of respect for this beautiful bird and had a chance to

:37:33. > :37:40.experience what it must be like to soar above the land like the

:37:40. > :37:45.awesome red kite. Although we are all about the

:37:45. > :37:49.Deadly, I like to bring a bit of the queued factor in, so in the

:37:49. > :37:56.marine show, I have come to meet an animal with a Deadly bite but a

:37:56. > :38:03.lovable personality. Am I all right to bend down?

:38:03. > :38:06.are safe. Snorkel is a loggerhead turtle who was rescued from a beach

:38:06. > :38:11.in Cornwall, and cannot go back to the wild because of medical

:38:11. > :38:16.problems, so she has to be given medicine hidden in her food.

:38:16. > :38:24.Despite appearances, that powerful beak makes her the most dangerous

:38:25. > :38:30.animal in the aquarium. Even more dangerous than those sharks.

:38:30. > :38:34.Live 'n' Deadly loves to test Steve in a thrilling end to every show

:38:34. > :38:39.and the aquarium offers us the chance for the most spectacular and

:38:39. > :38:45.challenging one yet. Steve is going to take a dip in the shark tank to

:38:45. > :38:49.feed the stingrays. As diving is always risky, we need to rehearse

:38:49. > :38:55.this thoroughly, and our expert is on hand to make sure everything is

:38:55. > :39:00.ready, and more importantly, safe for Steve. Ah well have checked it.

:39:00. > :39:05.The aquarium staff swim in a tank every week to clean the glass, so

:39:05. > :39:09.the sharks I used to seeing divers, but they are still very large fish

:39:09. > :39:17.who have the potential to attack if the team make a mistake -- are used

:39:17. > :39:20.to. I am going to be supervisor and a team medic, but we also have

:39:20. > :39:25.Richard dealing with yourself. James is going to be the team

:39:25. > :39:33.leader, gardening for you. Emergency and recall, if there is

:39:33. > :39:42.any problem, try and make a save ascent to the surface. Some of the

:39:42. > :39:47.Tigers, the largest animal in the tank, keep a lookout while you are

:39:47. > :39:51.there. We also have the nurse sharks. And trigger fish and the

:39:51. > :39:56.barracuda, I would say the trigger fish are the most likely to have a

:39:56. > :40:00.nibble. The sting rays are very heavy, they are docile but they are

:40:00. > :40:04.very clumsy, so they will probably collide with here and push you

:40:04. > :40:09.around a bit. So when you're on the bottom, keep your knees a flat on

:40:09. > :40:19.the bottom and stayed nice and still. Things will settle down and

:40:19. > :40:23.you will be fine. If you can have gloves with you. Gloves? Thrashing

:40:23. > :40:27.around fingers can attract the fish, and they can see them as a target

:40:27. > :40:36.for a nibble. So with all of that in mind, in the

:40:36. > :40:42.Steve goes. Below, up all we can do is watch. -- all we can do.

:40:42. > :40:46.Steve is in the tank and I am more worried than he is. He will be

:40:46. > :40:52.having a ball. By now he has been looking forward to this for ages. -

:40:52. > :40:58.- I know. He has been desperate to get into the tank. He is having a

:40:58. > :41:01.great time. It all seems to be going well, but

:41:01. > :41:07.with all the rehearsals and the world, there is still going to be

:41:07. > :41:12.an element of uncertainty for when we go live tomorrow -- in the world.

:41:12. > :41:16.It has been a long day, we have had quite a few technical issues today,

:41:16. > :41:23.going under water, but we are in good shape for tomorrow. Time for

:41:23. > :41:28.an early night and when we start, up at 4:30am, on set and rehearsing

:41:28. > :41:34.at 6am, fingers crossed it will all go to plan, because we have no

:41:34. > :41:39.back-up! How you feeling about tomorrow? By thing for the first

:41:39. > :41:45.time, I am as nervous as you, but for a very different reasons -- I

:41:45. > :41:49.think. Once I get into that tank, there is so much to think about,

:41:49. > :41:53.getting my buoyancy ride, not getting tangled up in the cables,

:41:53. > :41:59.getting a shot of the animal, talking about the animal, it is too

:41:59. > :42:04.much for my brain. I will be on the side, waiting to do a tap dance,

:42:04. > :42:09.the ultimate top 10 and that. bubbles start furiously coming out

:42:09. > :42:14.of my helmet. Don't say that! It will be fine, there will be no

:42:14. > :42:18.disasters. It has been a long day, but it is

:42:18. > :42:28.time to get some rest before getting up very an early tomorrow

:42:28. > :42:37.morning for the final practice before we go live. -- very early

:42:37. > :42:41.tomorrow morning. One of the highlights of Live 'n'

:42:41. > :42:51.Deadly is when we give you a challenge to get muddy and wet and

:42:51. > :42:54.

:42:54. > :43:00.generally have a really great time. And amongst the most impressive was

:43:00. > :43:08.an underwater expedition to South Wales.

:43:08. > :43:13.These are the wild waters of scope Ireland in Wales. Crashing waves,

:43:13. > :43:23.at the water temperature to make your toes curl, I will need serious

:43:23. > :43:27.

:43:27. > :43:35.contenders for this mission. Who is up for it? We are from...

:43:35. > :43:45.I and 11 years old. I am James and I am 10 years old. I am 12 years

:43:45. > :43:45.

:43:45. > :43:51.old. I am Lianne and I am 11 years old. This junior school but he more

:43:51. > :43:55.or qualified divers. Heading up the team is Karen -- or all. You learn

:43:55. > :43:59.really quickly when you are a junior, much quicker than adults.

:43:59. > :44:05.There is a lot of organisation with the equipment, making sure it is

:44:05. > :44:09.working properly and no one forget anything. This is a buoyancy

:44:09. > :44:15.control device. It helps us float in the water so we don't sink like

:44:15. > :44:22.a stone. This is my wet suit. I am putting

:44:22. > :44:28.it armed so when I go in the water, it will keep me watch warm-up --

:44:28. > :44:31.putting it on. You cannot talk, so you have to have a secret sign

:44:31. > :44:41.language. This means go down, this means go up. This means something

:44:41. > :44:44.

:44:44. > :44:50.wrong. This is out of our. -- air Gather around here I have a message

:44:50. > :44:57.from Steve. I know you lot are already master scuba diefrs. I have

:44:57. > :45:02.a challenge that is different. We have a marine reserve where there

:45:02. > :45:07.is no fishing allowed. The animals get really big. Your skipper has

:45:07. > :45:17.tasty treats to lure them out of their holes. Get out there and get

:45:17. > :45:20.

:45:21. > :45:30.me footage of real monsters. Come OK, guys, hang on, are you ready?

:45:31. > :45:41.

:45:41. > :45:47.Are you OK, Nick? I'm fine. Iement' all right. -- I'm fine, I'm all

:45:47. > :45:51.right. That is the best thing about diving, you get to go out on boats.

:45:51. > :45:58.Diving can be dangerous, it needs to be taken seriously. I challenged

:45:58. > :46:04.the guys to find me a giant. Lurking blow are monster rouse

:46:04. > :46:08.creatures. Before our divers get in the water, there is one more thing.

:46:08. > :46:12.Remember our challenge from Steve earlier much I want you to take

:46:12. > :46:17.this camera under water and take photos of the big things that you

:46:17. > :46:22.find to prove we did find these things. If you get some pictures

:46:22. > :46:28.for me, that would be brilliant. It's time it get serious. Happy?

:46:28. > :46:37.Kitting up is a mission in itself. Does that feel all right? Yep.

:46:37. > :46:42.weird talking like this and looking silly. I like to stay on the boat.

:46:42. > :46:52.It's a bit chilly. I'll leave it to the kids. Now, get out there and

:46:52. > :47:05.

:47:05. > :47:11.What great visibility. People don't realise how fantastic diving can be

:47:11. > :47:19.here in the UK. The best thing about diving is the wildlife you

:47:19. > :47:29.see under the water and all the creatures. That urchin is a great

:47:29. > :47:36.

:47:36. > :47:43.find, but it's not what I had in mind. There. They are the monsters

:47:43. > :47:53.I wanted you to find. They are called, spider crabs. Perfect!

:47:53. > :47:54.

:47:54. > :48:03.Great shot. They are called spider crabs because they have eight

:48:03. > :48:12.spidery long legs. They molt and grow in stages. In the reserve they

:48:12. > :48:22.can get pretty big., "shall we call him Steve?", charming! Well done,

:48:22. > :48:29.

:48:29. > :48:35.guys. Challenge, in the bag. It's 5.00 am, in Plymouth, on

:48:35. > :48:42.Saturday morning. Only four hours before we go live. The first of the

:48:42. > :48:52.crew arrive at the aquarium for a final rehearsal. But, the first job

:48:52. > :48:55.

:48:55. > :49:03.is breakfast. Morning. Got to look after the animals. If you don't

:49:03. > :49:06.feed them, they stop working. though it's still dark outside we

:49:07. > :49:16.run through the show. It's a chance to smooth out the last of the

:49:17. > :49:19.

:49:19. > :49:27.Right, guys, a quick turnaround. feels less clear now than it did

:49:27. > :49:31.last night. I'm going through my cards and getting rid of the stuff

:49:31. > :49:36.that have been cut and trying to remember how we are going to do

:49:36. > :49:44.things. At the moment a little more panicked. I'm less worried about

:49:44. > :49:47.the sharks than I am of how things will go in the show. It's timed to

:49:48. > :49:51.the second the rehearsal. Although the show is looking great there is

:49:52. > :49:55.one section that makes us worry. Steve and Dave need to get all the

:49:55. > :50:05.way over the other side of the harbour for their challenge and

:50:05. > :50:07.

:50:07. > :50:12.only have a few minutes to make it. We call them "re-pos" that is short

:50:12. > :50:22.for re-potion. This one is going to be tight. Remember the golf buggy.

:50:22. > :50:37.

:50:37. > :50:41.This is its big moment. 5-4-3-2-1. We've made it. With 9.00 am

:50:41. > :50:47.approaching the excitement begins to build as we prepared prepare to

:50:47. > :50:57.go live. China and the rigors are primed. The camera team are in

:50:57. > :51:07.potion. We are all already -- ready for James to count us down. 5-4-3-

:51:07. > :51:15.

:51:15. > :51:18.2-1. Morning. As the titles roll, We also have perhaps the most...

:51:18. > :51:23.Whilst I run through all the great things coming up in the programme,

:51:23. > :51:29.Steve made a dash to his over friendly ox pus to see if he was

:51:29. > :51:35.going to behave. The way the arms streak out and the sucker cups have

:51:35. > :51:40.attached to my fingers. Like most of our animal guests he couldn't

:51:40. > :51:46.have done better. He didn't pull Steve into the tank and he did his

:51:46. > :51:52.party piece. Let's see if our octopus is feeling hungry. There we

:51:52. > :51:58.go. It has instantly taken a grip of. It the suckers here are

:51:58. > :52:03.manipulating the jar into exactly the right place and starting to

:52:03. > :52:06.turn it, whilst those ones there have a hold of the lid and are

:52:06. > :52:10.turning it in the opposite direction. Isn't that wonderful?

:52:10. > :52:16.Let's come down and have a look from here. It's done it. Look at

:52:16. > :52:23.that. It's taken the lid off the jar and an arm has gone inside and

:52:23. > :52:33.is fishing out that bit of tasty fish. Wow! That's just

:52:33. > :52:34.

:52:34. > :52:42.Then it was time for the bit of the show which worried everyone,

:52:42. > :52:51.especially Rob. Scary re-po time about to happen. After a chat with

:52:51. > :52:58.Dave, our guest, it was time for our big re-potion over the harbour.

:52:58. > :53:08.Can Steve and Dave on the buggy we ran for a ringside seat to see if

:53:08. > :53:20.

:53:20. > :53:25.he was going to get another dunking. Steve stayed dry. As much as I was

:53:25. > :53:30.hoping to see Steve wet, it did mean the show was ruping on time.

:53:30. > :53:36.We needed to rush inside to show you some more of the amazing

:53:36. > :53:44.animals at the aquarium. One of the most common species we have here

:53:44. > :53:50.are these, they are called jellyfish. There are hundreds of

:53:50. > :53:57.little Nemos. Then it was time for me to feed the sharks. Guess what?

:53:57. > :54:01.As it turns out they were more scared of me than I was of them.

:54:01. > :54:05.reckon Naomi has faced her fear. Everything was going roughly to

:54:05. > :54:12.plan, but now the race was on to get Steve ready in time for the

:54:12. > :54:17.shark dive. This was to be our ambitious finale, but the timing

:54:17. > :54:22.had to be just right. Three minutes. Everything is a complete dash. Time

:54:22. > :54:29.is of the essence. Normally, I would take half an hour to get set

:54:29. > :54:37.up for a dive. I have four-and-a- half minutes. You are coming off

:54:37. > :54:40.the back of the kids film. In the viewing area all was calm. In the

:54:41. > :54:48.gallery trucks they were worried about being able to communicate

:54:48. > :54:56.with Steve under water. We have had fun and games with our coms with

:54:56. > :55:01.Steve. Doing an under water shoot is technical. We need to be able to

:55:01. > :55:06.communicate with him and he needs to be able to communicate with us.

:55:06. > :55:16.Would we be able to hear Steve or would the gremlins have got into

:55:16. > :55:19.

:55:19. > :55:26.the microphones? OK. So, I'm into the tank. Down there blow me I can

:55:26. > :55:36.see Naomi. Hello, give us a wave. Hi there, Steve. Instantly there is

:55:36. > :55:37.

:55:37. > :55:41.so much life around you. I'm being sir -- circled. It's a magical

:55:41. > :55:51.experience. Everything seemed to be working perfectly. Steve dived

:55:51. > :55:53.

:55:53. > :55:59.deeper to feed the rays. OK. So, I am on the bottom now. I'm being

:55:59. > :56:04.totally mobed by stingrays at the moment. You can see they're

:56:04. > :56:08.actually almost overwhelming me. Even with all those rehearsals not

:56:08. > :56:13.everything went to plan. We got lucky in more ways than we could

:56:13. > :56:18.ever have wished for. Before we knew it, it was the end of the show.

:56:18. > :56:24.I want to say a massive thank you to everyone here. It's my favourite

:56:24. > :56:31.aquarium in the whole world. I've had the best morning ever. I've had

:56:31. > :56:38.a great week. See you next week. It will be Deadly. Bye-bye. The

:56:38. > :56:45.animals were great. The director was pleased. It went very well. I'm

:56:45. > :56:49.very happy. It was good. It was really good. Yeah. It all went well.

:56:49. > :56:53.Everybody was happy and in a good mood. We had a fantastic few days

:56:53. > :56:57.here. Really good. Fantastic to be involved. Seeing everything going
