0:02:58 > 0:03:01is how to breathe properly when you're singing.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04You want to support from a muscle under the lungs called

0:03:04 > 0:03:06the diaphragm.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09So, it's kind of like in your belly region,

0:03:09 > 0:03:13so when you breathe you want to pretend like your stomach is

0:03:13 > 0:03:14like a balloon.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17So, when you breathe in...

0:03:17 > 0:03:19the balloon inflates.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21And then, when you breathe out...

0:03:21 > 0:03:22it deflates.

0:03:22 > 0:03:29So make sure that your stomach area is expanding when you breathe,

0:03:29 > 0:03:32not your chest. Make sure your shoulders don't move at all.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35- So...- Yeah, and to elaborate on that,

0:03:35 > 0:03:37it's really important to use your breath to, you know,

0:03:37 > 0:03:40hit high notes or be able to sustain notes.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45..there's a few high notes and some long notes, yeah.

0:03:45 > 0:03:48And another really important time to use your breath is right before

0:03:48 > 0:03:52you're about to sing, or if you're about to go on stage and take it

0:03:52 > 0:03:54away, it's really important to remember to ground yourself

0:03:54 > 0:03:57and to use those really deep breathing techniques.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01So the reason why we want to breathe from our diaphragm when we sing

0:04:01 > 0:04:04is because we want to get that full, powerful voice instead of

0:04:04 > 0:04:07a weaker chest-breathing voice.
