0:03:15 > 0:03:18with this lovely little instrument, here.
0:03:18 > 0:03:23So, the first of those things is this useful little invention.
0:03:23 > 0:03:25It's called a capo,
0:03:25 > 0:03:29and it is a life-saving tool for musicians,
0:03:29 > 0:03:33because there's a lot of chords out there that are difficult to play
0:03:33 > 0:03:35and you can't, maybe, learn them,
0:03:35 > 0:03:39so this thing basically eliminates all of those problems.
0:03:39 > 0:03:42You place it wherever you want... HE PLAYS CHORDS
0:03:42 > 0:03:45..and it changes the key... PLAYS HIGHER CHORDS
0:03:45 > 0:03:47..of the notes you're playing.
0:03:47 > 0:03:49So if you know how to play four chords,
0:03:49 > 0:03:53with one of these you know how to play almost every standard chord,
0:03:53 > 0:03:56as long as you put it on whatever fret.
0:03:57 > 0:04:01So the second thing I want to talk about is the necessity of tuning.
0:04:01 > 0:04:05You know, tuning - some people can do it by ear,
0:04:05 > 0:04:09but most people use this little invention right here -
0:04:09 > 0:04:11the lovely little tuner.
0:04:11 > 0:04:16And it, basically, just lights up and tells you if your note is...
0:04:16 > 0:04:18PLAYS A NOTE ..on pitch.
0:04:18 > 0:04:22So I'm a little bit below, there, so I just tune it up.
0:04:22 > 0:04:26And soon enough you end up with a fully-tuned guitar.
