0:00:02 > 0:00:05# Whoa, whoa, whoa. #
0:00:10 > 0:00:12Hey, guys. Today we'll be singing Sound Of Change.
0:00:12 > 0:00:16We're just kind of working it out, and we really hope that you like it.
0:00:16 > 0:00:17Yeah. It's going to be amazing.
0:00:19 > 0:00:26# Ooh
0:00:26 > 0:00:29# Ooh
0:00:42 > 0:00:46# We need a storm A howling wind
0:00:46 > 0:00:50# A twisted sky A tidal wave
0:00:50 > 0:00:53# That pulls you to the shore
0:00:53 > 0:00:57# And buries you in the sand
0:00:57 > 0:01:01# And washes you away
0:01:02 > 0:01:05# So we start over again
0:01:12 > 0:01:16# They turned the lake into a swamp
0:01:16 > 0:01:20# They built a bank over a park
0:01:20 > 0:01:22# And my dime disappears
0:01:22 > 0:01:27# And that's OK cos it's not real
0:01:27 > 0:01:31# In the afterlife I feel
0:01:31 > 0:01:33# My money is dead
0:01:33 > 0:01:38# If we find that times get hard
0:01:38 > 0:01:42# It just makes us who we are
0:01:42 > 0:01:46# And the scars that run so deep
0:01:46 > 0:01:50# Are the richest memories
0:01:50 > 0:01:54# I don't want to stay the same
0:01:54 > 0:01:58# I want to look back proud some day
0:01:58 > 0:02:03# The sound of change all I want to hear
0:02:03 > 0:02:06# But it
0:02:06 > 0:02:11# It won't change if we keep hanging on
0:02:11 > 0:02:12# What's that
0:02:13 > 0:02:14# That sound
0:02:15 > 0:02:16# What's that
0:02:17 > 0:02:19# That sound
0:02:20 > 0:02:21# We're lost
0:02:22 > 0:02:23# And found
0:02:24 > 0:02:26- # He's lost - # We're lost
0:02:26 > 0:02:28- # She's found - # And found
0:02:28 > 0:02:29# We're lost
0:02:30 > 0:02:31# And found
0:02:31 > 0:02:32One more time!
0:02:32 > 0:02:33# We're lost
0:02:34 > 0:02:35# And found. #
0:02:38 > 0:02:40CHEERING
0:02:48 > 0:02:52In today's lesson, we'll be going over vocal ranges -
0:02:52 > 0:02:53how you can find it and...
0:02:53 > 0:02:56Yeah, let's take a seat and we'll show you.
0:02:56 > 0:03:02To find your vocal range, first off, if you have a piano,
0:03:02 > 0:03:04just look for middle C - it should sound something like this...
0:03:04 > 0:03:07PLAYS MIDDLE C
0:03:07 > 0:03:10And try to match that with your own voice, so...
0:03:10 > 0:03:12# La... #
0:03:12 > 0:03:16And then to find your range, actually,
0:03:16 > 0:03:20just start from C and work your way down, singing each of the notes
0:03:20 > 0:03:22until you find one that you can't sing.
0:03:22 > 0:03:24And that will be...
0:03:24 > 0:03:27The lowest note you can sing will be the bottom of your range.
0:03:27 > 0:03:30And then do the same thing, starting from middle C,
0:03:30 > 0:03:31and work your way up.
0:03:31 > 0:03:35And whatever note is the highest, that would be the top of your range.
0:03:35 > 0:03:37- Yeah.- So that's just how you find a range, yeah.
0:03:37 > 0:03:41Yeah, and don't be discouraged if you can't hit the note right away,
0:03:41 > 0:03:44like, find exactly which note it is.
0:03:44 > 0:03:46Cos, you know, some people have trouble with that,
0:03:46 > 0:03:47- and that's perfectly fine.- Yeah.
0:03:47 > 0:03:50Another thing I'm not sure you guys know is that
0:03:50 > 0:03:52you actually have two ranges.
0:03:52 > 0:03:56One of your ranges is your chest voice,
0:03:56 > 0:03:59which is your stronger, more powerful voice,
0:03:59 > 0:04:03and then you also have your head voice, or falsetto.
0:04:03 > 0:04:06So, what's the difference between those two?
0:04:06 > 0:04:07So we have the...
0:04:07 > 0:04:09- # Ah... # - SINGS IN CHEST VOICE
0:04:09 > 0:04:12- # Ah... # - SINGS IN HEAD VOICE
0:04:12 > 0:04:14Yeah, so most of the time you can go a little bit higher
0:04:14 > 0:04:17in your head voice or falsetto.
0:04:17 > 0:04:19Another really cool thing to note
0:04:19 > 0:04:22when it comes to chest voice and head voice, or falsetto,
0:04:22 > 0:04:25is to go through the scales, because there's going to be a certain point
0:04:25 > 0:04:27in your range when you're working up
0:04:27 > 0:04:29when you're going to have to transition to head voice.
0:04:29 > 0:04:31- Right - that's a tricky transition. - Yeah, it can be really hard
0:04:31 > 0:04:34and awkward, because all of a sudden you've got your chest and it's like,
0:04:34 > 0:04:36"Whoa! I can't sing that any more in chest."
0:04:36 > 0:04:39And for some people that transition will be earlier, some later,
0:04:39 > 0:04:41so it's really important to know where that happens
0:04:41 > 0:04:43so you can smooth it out and just be aware of it.
0:04:43 > 0:04:46You know, if your strengths are, "I can belt really, really high,"
0:04:46 > 0:04:49or, "I have a really strong head voice," or something like that,
0:04:49 > 0:04:50so it's a really important thing to know.
0:04:50 > 0:04:52- All right, guys, see you later.- Bye!
