0:03:57 > 0:04:00# Dai-dee dah bai-doh
0:04:00 > 0:04:03# Bai-dah dum bai-doh
0:04:03 > 0:04:08# Yeah
0:04:08 > 0:04:13# Ooh, oh, oh. #
0:04:14 > 0:04:17All right, thanks for watching!
0:04:25 > 0:04:31# Ooh, ooh, ooh... #
0:04:33 > 0:04:35Oh, hey, guys!
0:04:35 > 0:04:37- We're just kind of practising a little bit.- Yeah.
0:04:37 > 0:04:44As you know, we did a cover of Miss You in today's episode.
0:04:44 > 0:04:50What we want to do is kind of go over the arrangement of our song.
0:04:50 > 0:04:53So, we kind of made it a little more jazzy than the original version
0:04:53 > 0:04:56and we kind of want to talk about HOW we did that.
0:04:56 > 0:05:01The original song sounded with more simple chords, going, like...
0:05:01 > 0:05:04HE PLAYS SIMPLE CHORDS
0:05:06 > 0:05:09But I sort of jazz them up, going like...
0:05:09 > 0:05:12HE PLAYS SEVENTH CHORDS
0:05:15 > 0:05:18So, I used a seventh,
0:05:18 > 0:05:22onto the chord and there are major and minor sevenths.
0:05:22 > 0:05:25So, for the minor seventh, I put that on the first chord,
0:05:25 > 0:05:27which was a D minor.
0:05:27 > 0:05:33And the way I added the seventh, was in the D minor scale, I counted up,
0:05:33 > 0:05:38so, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, up to the seventh note.
0:05:38 > 0:05:40And I just added that on,
0:05:40 > 0:05:43- played them together and we have a D minor seventh.- OK.
0:05:43 > 0:05:45Now, for the major seventh,
0:05:45 > 0:05:50I put that on the second chord of the song, which was the F major.
0:05:50 > 0:05:57And it's the same idea, you just count up seven notes into the scale.
0:05:57 > 0:05:59And you just add that.
0:05:59 > 0:06:04So, now you have your D minor 7 and an F major 7.
0:06:04 > 0:06:08The minor 7 and the major 7. That's how you add sevenths to your chords.
0:06:08 > 0:06:13Another thing is, when you want to jazz up your vocals,
0:06:13 > 0:06:15I have a few tips for the that.
0:06:15 > 0:06:17So, first of all, um,
0:06:17 > 0:06:21instead of singing notes very like, straight, like...
0:06:21 > 0:06:23SHE SINGS THREE NOTES IN SEQUENCE
0:06:23 > 0:06:28..you want to maybe scoop up to those notes. So, like...
0:06:28 > 0:06:31SHE SINGS NOTES OF SONG
0:06:34 > 0:06:38So, instead of, like, hitting the note right, like, perfectly,
0:06:38 > 0:06:41you just want to go through some of the other notes
0:06:41 > 0:06:43to hit that note and it sounds pretty jazzy.
0:06:43 > 0:06:46Another thing is scatting.
0:06:46 > 0:06:49So, scatting is kind of like a bunch of sounds, so you can go, like...
0:06:49 > 0:06:53# Bah-ta, bah-ta, bah-ta Boo-pah, dooh-dah dah... #
0:06:53 > 0:06:55..or however you want to do it.
0:06:55 > 0:06:58You just, like, you pick a few sounds, so, like,
0:06:58 > 0:07:02bah, dee, dooh, shah... You know, stuff like that.
0:07:02 > 0:07:05And you just, like, put it all together and it sounds kind of cool!
0:07:05 > 0:07:06Yeah.
