0:00:36 > 0:00:40Today, all 11 kittens are trying to get milk from Mum, Coco,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42at the same time.

0:00:42 > 0:00:47Coco has eight teats, so only eight kittens can be fed at one time.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50The bigger kittens have barged in first,

0:00:50 > 0:00:54leaving the smaller ones to wait their turn.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56It's a real squash though.

0:00:57 > 0:01:01Squash? Yeah. You try having 11 kittens lying on top of you.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04MEOW

0:01:04 > 0:01:07The kittens' eyes are now open,

0:01:07 > 0:01:09but their ears are still folded closed.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11Even if they can't hear,

0:01:11 > 0:01:14they're curious about everything they see.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Ooh, what's this pink thing? It smells lovely

0:01:17 > 0:01:20and warmy, like Mummy.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24Hello, Mama.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26Just giving you a kiss.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Thanks, darling.

0:01:28 > 0:01:33- YAWN - Oh, I'm full and sleepy now.

0:01:34 > 0:01:35Me too.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38SNORING

0:01:42 > 0:01:48This kitten is so tired she's gone to sleep while crawling over her sister.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50She's forgotten to lie down.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56You can see now that the kittens who have fed are asleep,

0:01:56 > 0:02:01so that lets the rest of the kittens get their share of milk.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Who's that?

0:02:03 > 0:02:05Ah, Mum Cleo.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07Where have you been?

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Ooh, goody!

0:02:09 > 0:02:11More fresh milk!

0:02:11 > 0:02:14- Yummy. - BOING BOING BOING

0:02:14 > 0:02:17WHIRRING Suddenly, Cleo hears a weird noise

0:02:17 > 0:02:19and Coco's heard it too.

0:02:19 > 0:02:23- What's that?- I don't know, but I'm going to get the kittens

0:02:23 > 0:02:26and move them somewhere safe.

0:02:26 > 0:02:27WHIRRING

0:02:27 > 0:02:31Oh, look, it's just the lawn being mowed.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34We know what that is, don't we?

0:02:34 > 0:02:37But that's a frightening sound for the kittens,

0:02:37 > 0:02:42so they are carried very gently into a new place under the stairs.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46This is how all mother cats carry their kittens -

0:02:46 > 0:02:48by the scruff of the neck.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50It looks as if it's hurting them,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52but it isn't.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56And there they are,

0:02:56 > 0:03:00safely tucked away in their new hidey-hole under the stairs,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03where nothing can scare them.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08The kittens are now three weeks old and twice as big

0:03:08 > 0:03:11as when they were born. BOING BOING BOING

0:03:11 > 0:03:13And now we're going to weigh them,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15and one of the owners' children

0:03:15 > 0:03:16is going to help,

0:03:16 > 0:03:21but first they have to make sure their hands are completely clean

0:03:21 > 0:03:24from any germs, so they use a special gel.

0:03:26 > 0:03:27Now we can start.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30And the kittens are going to be weighed...

0:03:30 > 0:03:32in a bowl!

0:03:32 > 0:03:34There are two reasons to weigh them -

0:03:34 > 0:03:38the first reason is to see if they're growing properly.

0:03:38 > 0:03:42Each kitten is brought across, one by one, to be weighed.

0:03:43 > 0:03:45Oof, what's this?

0:03:45 > 0:03:47A bowl, you silly-billy.

0:03:47 > 0:03:51It's a funny thing to weigh us in, innit?

0:03:51 > 0:03:54The second reason for weighing the kittens

0:03:54 > 0:03:57is that they must get some special medicine.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00The amount of medicine they get is decided by their weight.

0:04:00 > 0:04:05Did you know all kittens are born with worms inside them

0:04:05 > 0:04:07that could make them sick?

0:04:07 > 0:04:10This medicine is good for both nursing mums...

0:04:10 > 0:04:12and kittens.

0:04:12 > 0:04:15- Bleugh! - But it doesn't taste very nice.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17That's one kitten done.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19Number two.

0:04:19 > 0:04:20Number three.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23Number four.

0:04:23 > 0:04:24Number five.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27Can you guess which number is next?

0:04:27 > 0:04:30- It's number six. Then number seven. - Bleugh!

0:04:30 > 0:04:32Oh, number eight.

0:04:33 > 0:04:34Number nine.

0:04:35 > 0:04:37Number ten.

0:04:37 > 0:04:40And finally, number 11.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42MEOW That's all the kittens done.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44Even Coco has to take the medicine

0:04:44 > 0:04:48because, if she gets worms, she could pass them on to her kittens

0:04:48 > 0:04:50in her milk.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52That was disgusting!

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Cleo tries to run away.

0:04:54 > 0:04:59- But, nope, she's got to take hers too.- Yuck! Oh, it's horrible.

0:05:01 > 0:05:04Now, here's some exciting news.

0:05:04 > 0:05:08The kittens are trying to walk for the very first time.

0:05:08 > 0:05:10KITTEN GRUNTS

0:05:11 > 0:05:13They're a bit wobbly

0:05:13 > 0:05:16because they haven't used their legs before

0:05:16 > 0:05:19and they have to learn HOW to walk.

0:05:19 > 0:05:24Their eyes are now open, so they can see everything.

0:05:24 > 0:05:28And their ears have unfolded, so they can hear everything.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31But, mostly, they still rely on their sense of smell.

0:05:31 > 0:05:33Sniffing here... SNIFF SNIFF

0:05:33 > 0:05:36..and sniffing there. SNIFF SNIFF

0:05:36 > 0:05:41Mum Cleo is watching to make sure everyone's all right.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43It's a big new adventure

0:05:43 > 0:05:46and a bit scary!

0:05:46 > 0:05:48Mum! Mum! Mum!

0:05:50 > 0:05:54- Mum! Help!- What is it, sweetheart?- Mum! Mum!

0:05:54 > 0:05:57- Mum!- C'mon, you can be brave. - Mum! Help!

0:05:57 > 0:06:00- You just put one paw in front of the other...- Help!

0:06:00 > 0:06:05- ..and then you're walking. See? Like me.- Mum!

0:06:05 > 0:06:08Watch out, Mum. I'm coming through.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12Well, I think they're getting the hang of it.

0:06:15 > 0:06:18Right, I think that's enough for today.

0:06:18 > 0:06:21Let's get back to the hidey-hole. Oh!

0:06:21 > 0:06:23You are getting heavy.

0:06:25 > 0:06:26But, Mum...

0:06:26 > 0:06:30I want to get out and walk some more.

0:06:30 > 0:06:34All right. Off you go, you cheeky thing.

0:06:34 > 0:06:38Oh, Mum? I've forgotten how to do it!

0:06:38 > 0:06:41It's not as easy as it looks.

0:06:41 > 0:06:43Aw, good luck!
