0:00:07 > 0:00:11THEY MEOW

0:00:28 > 0:00:30MEOW

0:00:35 > 0:00:39Today, all the kittens are trying to get milk at the same time,

0:00:39 > 0:00:43but there are 11 kittens and only one of the mums, Coco, is here,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45and she only has eight teats.

0:00:45 > 0:00:50So, the first lesson of today is that 11 into eight doesn't go.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52Having been shoved out of the way by the bigger ones,

0:00:52 > 0:00:57the three smallest ones have to wait. It's a real squash.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00- COCO:- Squash? Who said anything about squash?

0:01:00 > 0:01:04It's only milk here, kittens.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07The kittens' eyes are now wide open.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09I'm going to be on telly.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13Their ears are still shut and they can't walk properly,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15but they're still very curious.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21Hi, Mum. Just seeing if there's any milk in your ears.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24- SNIFFS - This is tiring.

0:01:25 > 0:01:29I think I'll join my brothers and sisters and have a sleep.

0:01:29 > 0:01:34SNORING SOUNDS

0:01:35 > 0:01:37Excuse me.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42I'm so tired I've gone to sleep standing up.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48The big kittens are asleep now,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50so it's the smaller kittens' turn to feed.

0:01:52 > 0:01:57About time too, I'm starving. Now, where's that teat?

0:01:57 > 0:02:02Cleo, the other mum, arrives to see what's going on.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06- CLEO:- I'm here with more milk, yes. Timed it purr-fectly.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08They're all asleep.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11That saved my teats getting a munching.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13KITTENS SNORE

0:02:13 > 0:02:16ENGINE STARTS

0:02:16 > 0:02:20The cats get a rude awakening when they hear a noise outside.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24- CLEO:- I don't know what that noise is, but I'll go and check it out,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26just in case it's dangerous.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28- CLEO:- I hope it's not the Hoover.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32Look at the way I blend in with the carpet. It'll suck me up, for sure.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36It's nothing to worry about, it's just the lawnmower.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39- COCO:- I know what a lawnmower can do to a cat, I've seen Tom And Jerry.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42That's it. I'm going to move the kittens.

0:02:43 > 0:02:47Coco and Cleo are putting the kittens under the stairs for safety.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53This is how cats carry the kittens, by the scruff of the neck.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56It might look painful, but it doesn't hurt a bit.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59How do you know?

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Have you ever been carried around by the scruff of your neck?

0:03:06 > 0:03:09All the kittens are safe and sound now, under the stairs.

0:03:14 > 0:03:18I just hope this isn't where they keep the lawnmower.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22The kittens are now three weeks old.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25Three weeks? Do we get a birthday cake?

0:03:25 > 0:03:28And they're twice as big as when they were born.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31Luckily, they don't keep growing at that rate or they'd be

0:03:31 > 0:03:32the size of elephants by Christmas.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40It's time to get the kittens weighed and one of their owners'

0:03:40 > 0:03:42children is going to help.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45As she's going to be touching the kittens, it's really important

0:03:45 > 0:03:48she has clean hands, so she doesn't pass on any germs.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56But, look, I think Mary Berry could be helping out.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58The kittens are going to be weighed in a bowl.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00That's a bit random.

0:04:00 > 0:04:03Wee-hee. Is that you mean by being weighed?

0:04:05 > 0:04:07Each kitten is brought over, one by one.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13I hope you're going to wash this before you make any more cakes.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18If you start adding flour and butter, I'm out of here.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22The kittens are being weighed for two reasons.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25Firstly, to make sure they're growing properly and secondly, they need

0:04:25 > 0:04:30special worming medicine and the correct amount is decided by weight.

0:04:30 > 0:04:34Believe it or not, most kittens are born with worms inside them.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38This medicine is good for both nursing cats and their kittens.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40It might do us good but it doesn't taste good.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44And all 11 kittens are going to get some.

0:04:44 > 0:04:46Yeah, good luck with that(!)

0:04:48 > 0:04:50Yuck.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Pff. Pff. Pff. Pff. Pff.

0:04:56 > 0:04:57Three words re-pul-sive.

0:05:00 > 0:05:02I better get a treat for taking this.

0:05:05 > 0:05:06Hashtag, disgusting.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11This is cruel. I'm calling the RSPCA.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14Yuck. It taste likes broccoli.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18As soon as you're not looking,

0:05:18 > 0:05:20this is coming back up again.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22This is the worst thing I've ever tasted in my life -

0:05:22 > 0:05:25all three weeks of it.

0:05:25 > 0:05:29I was hoping they'd have run out by now.

0:05:29 > 0:05:33Coco's turn next. It's vital that she has the medicine as well because,

0:05:33 > 0:05:37if she gets worms, she could pass them on to the kittens in her milk.

0:05:37 > 0:05:41- COCO:- Even I think this is revolting and I eat fish heads and mice guts.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43And last, but not least, Cleo.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46- CLEO:- Oh, well, at least I won't get worms

0:05:46 > 0:05:48and have poop that looks like spaghetti.

0:05:50 > 0:05:53Wow. Check this out.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56The kittens are trying to walk for the very first time.

0:05:56 > 0:06:00Is it left-right-left-right, or left-left-right-right?

0:06:00 > 0:06:03Or left-right-right-left? Oh, this is so complicated.

0:06:05 > 0:06:08Oh, no. I'm going backwards now.

0:06:10 > 0:06:14- Oh, right.- Let's try it together.

0:06:14 > 0:06:16Time to start walking.

0:06:16 > 0:06:20Me? How? Me, how? Meow, get it?

0:06:20 > 0:06:23I might not be able to walk but I can make jokes.

0:06:23 > 0:06:27As well as their eyes being wide open, now their ears are unfolded,

0:06:27 > 0:06:31but mostly they still rely on their sense of smell.

0:06:31 > 0:06:33Uh, this carpet smells of cats.

0:06:40 > 0:06:42Someone else's eyes are wide open as well.

0:06:42 > 0:06:45Cleo is watching them like a hawk.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49- CLEO:- No, I'm not. I'm a cat, so I'm watching them like a cat.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52I'd only be watching them like a hawk if I were a hawk.

0:06:53 > 0:06:56Where do CBBC get these people?

0:06:56 > 0:06:58Mam! Mam! Mam!

0:06:59 > 0:07:02- Mam! - COCO:- I'm here, what do you want?

0:07:02 > 0:07:05- Oh, I've forgotten.- Come on, stop messing about. Get walking.

0:07:05 > 0:07:07Look, I'll show you again.

0:07:10 > 0:07:12Look at them moving about.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14I had trouble telling them apart before,

0:07:14 > 0:07:16it's going to be impossible now they're walking.

0:07:16 > 0:07:20- CLEO:- Come on, let's get you back to safety.

0:07:20 > 0:07:25Oh, sorry son. Dropped you. My bad. Whoops. Dropped you again, soz.

0:07:25 > 0:07:27I thought I was getting a carry, not a drag.

0:07:27 > 0:07:29It's a good job I've got nine lives.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32If mum's going to carry me like that, I think I'll have another

0:07:32 > 0:07:37go at learning to walk. Here goes. How do I do it, again?

0:07:37 > 0:07:40Let me sit down and have a think.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42Well, that's it for now.

0:07:42 > 0:07:45MEOW See you next time, kittens.

0:07:48 > 0:07:52Having a kitten is a huge, time-consuming responsibility

0:07:52 > 0:07:55and, if you want an idea of exactly what's involved, check out

0:07:55 > 0:07:59the Meet The Kittens page on the CBBC website.
