0:17:31 > 0:17:35So far on Meet The Pups, the pups are 17 days old.

0:17:35 > 0:17:37Their eyes are fully opened.

0:17:37 > 0:17:40Their bellies are full of Mum Lola's milk.

0:17:41 > 0:17:45Dad Morgan is still being kept away for their safety.

0:17:45 > 0:17:49And it's a hectic schedule for their owners, caring for all five dogs,

0:17:49 > 0:17:51sometimes late into the night.

0:17:53 > 0:17:55But amongst all the puppy-rearing chaos,

0:17:55 > 0:17:59one of our furry friends is about to take their first proper steps.

0:17:59 > 0:18:02But who will make this giant leap for pupkind?

0:18:04 > 0:18:06Ah, it's Bonzo.

0:18:06 > 0:18:09There's a hushed crowd here as Bonzo pushes down,

0:18:09 > 0:18:12throws his head forward into the standing dog position.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15Is he going to go for the full foreleg wobble? Yes, he is!

0:18:15 > 0:18:17Go on, Bonzo, you can do it.

0:18:18 > 0:18:21"Yes, go, Bonzo, go, Bonzo!"

0:18:21 > 0:18:23"Ohh, I've done it."

0:18:23 > 0:18:25He did it. Jolly good, lovely.

0:18:27 > 0:18:29Oh, Bonzo's up again.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32Although this time, I'm not sure

0:18:32 > 0:18:37if he's trying to walk or if he's trying to start a dance craze.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39Yeah.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42Yep, he just can't resist the beat.

0:18:49 > 0:18:51Go on, Bonzo. Bust some moves.

0:19:01 > 0:19:04Hey, wait a minute. Where are you two going, all of a sudden?

0:19:04 > 0:19:06The party is just getting started.

0:19:06 > 0:19:11Oh, I see. Look, I don't think those freshly baked scones are for you.

0:19:11 > 0:19:15"Well, I'm sure if I stare at them for long enough,

0:19:15 > 0:19:17"they will fly into my mouth.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20"Come on, Lola, concentrate, we can do this."

0:19:20 > 0:19:23"Morgan, I keep telling you, we are not Jedis."

0:19:25 > 0:19:28"Well, maybe you're not, but I'm sure I've got the Force.

0:19:28 > 0:19:34"Come on, come to Papa, you lovely scones. Rise, rise!"

0:19:34 > 0:19:37"Morgan, please, this is so embarrassing.

0:19:37 > 0:19:40"Look, shove over, I'll show you how to lift a scone."

0:19:40 > 0:19:45Hey, back off! Cakes and other human foods can be killers for dogs.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47"Oh, since when were you the cake police?"

0:19:47 > 0:19:51Meanwhile, in a whelping box far, far away,

0:19:51 > 0:19:53the pups are being weaned,

0:19:53 > 0:19:56which means they are being taught to become less dependent

0:19:56 > 0:19:59on Lola's milk, which will slowly start to dry up.

0:19:59 > 0:20:00From this moment on,

0:20:00 > 0:20:05they'll be fed a handful of solid food up to seven times a day.

0:20:06 > 0:20:10This is the first solids the puppies have ever tasted,

0:20:10 > 0:20:11but will they like it?

0:20:13 > 0:20:17Well, I think that's probably a yes.

0:20:18 > 0:20:20"Oh, dear, look at the mess.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23"I suppose while Dad is busy trying to levitate scones,

0:20:23 > 0:20:25"well, I'll have to clean it up.

0:20:25 > 0:20:29"It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

0:20:33 > 0:20:34"Oh, yum, yum!"

0:20:37 > 0:20:40The pups are getting a visit from the neighbours.

0:20:40 > 0:20:43This is to help them become socialised

0:20:43 > 0:20:46and to introduce them to the wider social pack.

0:20:46 > 0:20:49That is...us.

0:20:49 > 0:20:51"Oh, look, look, it's the visitors."

0:20:51 > 0:20:54"Yes, that's what the scones are for."

0:20:54 > 0:20:57"I love the visitors, they always drop crumbs."

0:20:58 > 0:21:00Before they are allowed to see the pups,

0:21:00 > 0:21:03the children will have to remove their shoes,

0:21:03 > 0:21:06and clean their hands with a special antibacterial gel.

0:21:06 > 0:21:10This will prevent them transferring any harmful germs

0:21:10 > 0:21:12to the pups from the outside world.

0:21:12 > 0:21:16And it will also stop them treading mud all over the carpet.

0:21:17 > 0:21:20Lola and Morgan escort the visitors to the pup pen,

0:21:20 > 0:21:22watching their every move.

0:21:23 > 0:21:26"Have they had those scones yet?"

0:21:26 > 0:21:30"Morgan, they've come to see our pups."

0:21:30 > 0:21:31"What's up?"

0:21:33 > 0:21:38And now there will be a short public information film from Pup Airways.

0:21:38 > 0:21:43To hold a pup, please place one hand under the back legs like so.

0:21:43 > 0:21:47Then place your second hand under the pup's front legs, like so.

0:21:47 > 0:21:52Take care not to shake your puppy and cause unnecessary turbulence.

0:21:52 > 0:21:56Puppy wind can be a problem at any altitude.

0:21:57 > 0:21:59How do you like that, Bonzo?

0:21:59 > 0:22:00"She smells funny."

0:22:00 > 0:22:04I suppose we all smell funny to dogs, don't we?

0:22:04 > 0:22:06"I like funny."

0:22:06 > 0:22:08Bonzo and Biscuit are chosen

0:22:08 > 0:22:10because they are the most confident of the pups.

0:22:10 > 0:22:12Are you enjoying that, Biscuit?

0:22:12 > 0:22:15"Oh, I tell you what, she's playing me like a guitar."

0:22:15 > 0:22:19How about you, Bonzo? Do you like us humans?

0:22:19 > 0:22:20"She makes me sleepy."

0:22:20 > 0:22:24Lola and Morgan are given some food to distract them

0:22:24 > 0:22:28whilst the pups are being held. They can get a little jealous.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31That leaves me just enough time to sneak off

0:22:31 > 0:22:34and eat some of those delicious scones.

0:22:34 > 0:22:36"Scones!"

0:22:41 > 0:22:45Having a puppy is a huge, time-consuming responsibility.
