0:02:03 > 0:02:05CROWD CHEERS AND APPLAUDS

0:02:08 > 0:02:10But what would be really good

0:02:10 > 0:02:14is if we could make something with you actually in it!

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Hmm! I've just had a great idea!

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Let's try something!

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Try making this fantastic pirate face mask

0:02:25 > 0:02:27and put yourself in the picture.

0:02:27 > 0:02:31Let's make it! But first, we need somewhere to make it.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35Ha-ha! And we'll also need some things

0:02:35 > 0:02:38from the Doodle Drawers! I'll be back soon!

0:02:43 > 0:02:47A plate, a pencil and a ball of modelling clay!

0:02:52 > 0:02:57A large piece of card, some torn strips of paper and a glue stick!

0:03:01 > 0:03:05We also need an oval-shaped lid from an ice-cream tub.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08Perhaps Scraps can help!

0:03:08 > 0:03:10TOOT-TOOT!

0:03:10 > 0:03:12SCRAPS SQUEAKS

0:03:12 > 0:03:16Hello! We need an ice-cream lid. Can you help?

0:03:16 > 0:03:18- Mm-hm!- Great!

0:03:18 > 0:03:20- Aha! - MUNCH! MUNCH!

0:03:20 > 0:03:22SCRAPS BURPS

0:03:22 > 0:03:26- Well done, Scraps, that's great! Just what we need!- Mm-hm!

0:03:26 > 0:03:31- Ooh, actually, Scraps, is there any ice cream left?- No! Burp!

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Well, excuse you! Oh!

0:03:39 > 0:03:43And we also need some patterned wrapping paper.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47So, Lily, today, we're going to make

0:03:47 > 0:03:50a pirate face mask that really puts you in the picture!

0:03:50 > 0:03:53Ahoy there, me hearties! Ah-ha-ha-ha!

0:03:53 > 0:03:57- Right! So, Lily, are you ready? - Yes!- Great!

0:03:57 > 0:03:58Are you ready?

0:03:58 > 0:04:00Brilliant! Let's get making!

0:04:00 > 0:04:05The first thing we're going to do is bring in our large piece of card

0:04:05 > 0:04:08and an oval-shaped ice-cream lid.

0:04:08 > 0:04:12Now, don't worry if you haven't got one of these lids.

0:04:12 > 0:04:16You can use something else that's oval-shaped, like a plate or a bowl.

0:04:16 > 0:04:20Next, we need to draw round it then cut this shape out.

0:04:20 > 0:04:25You may want to ask an adult to help with this, cos it's a bit tricky.

0:04:25 > 0:04:30We need a ball of modelling clay. We'll put this underneath the card.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36And we need a sharp pencil and we're going to push,

0:04:36 > 0:04:40with the sharp pencil, through the card into the clay.

0:04:40 > 0:04:42And we do this very carefully

0:04:42 > 0:04:47and then, if we take the pencil out and take the clay away,

0:04:47 > 0:04:52we have a hole. We can use this hole to help us cut out our face shape!

0:04:52 > 0:04:56- But we need to be careful, because scissors are...- Sharp!

0:05:01 > 0:05:03Move the card to one side for a moment

0:05:03 > 0:05:07and we're going to bring in some patterned wrapping paper.

0:05:07 > 0:05:12This is going to make the pirate's head scarf! Ha-ha! That looks good!

0:05:12 > 0:05:16We're going to turn this over and, with a paper plate,

0:05:16 > 0:05:21we're going to draw all round this with a pencil to make a circle.

0:05:22 > 0:05:25Now, at the side of this circle,

0:05:25 > 0:05:31draw a fish tail shape and then, carefully, cut it all out.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36Then turn it back over,

0:05:36 > 0:05:38cut across the circle shape,

0:05:38 > 0:05:41just below the fish tail here, to make

0:05:41 > 0:05:44a pirate head scarf and shoulders.

0:05:44 > 0:05:49Now, we'll put these to one side and bring back our card from earlier.

0:05:49 > 0:05:53Let's get a handful of torn paper strips.

0:05:53 > 0:05:57Here they are! We're going to scrunch these up!

0:05:57 > 0:06:00That's it! Do a bit of scrunching, like that.

0:06:00 > 0:06:04Give them a squeeze, like that. Can you help? Scrunch away!

0:06:04 > 0:06:07Good scrunching!

0:06:09 > 0:06:12That's it. Put it on the pile.

0:06:12 > 0:06:14Well done!

0:06:14 > 0:06:18Now we need to stick the pirate hair on both sides of the face hole!

0:06:18 > 0:06:22So you can help me with this, Lily!

0:06:22 > 0:06:25Can you put some glue about there for me, please?

0:06:25 > 0:06:29That's it! Well done! Then glue on the rest of the hair!

0:06:31 > 0:06:35Now we can bring back in our pirate's head scarf and shoulders!

0:06:35 > 0:06:40I'm going to give these to you to glue for me! Thank you very much!

0:06:41 > 0:06:45That's it. Perfect! And now, we can glue them in place!

0:06:50 > 0:06:53And we're all done! It looks fantastic!

0:06:53 > 0:06:57But I think there's something, or rather someone,

0:06:57 > 0:06:59missing in the middle here!

0:06:59 > 0:07:02- Who could that be?- Me.

0:07:02 > 0:07:06You! That's right! Go on, then, put yourself in the picture!

0:07:07 > 0:07:09Ooh-arr, me hearties!

0:07:09 > 0:07:13Very good, Lily! And if you really enjoyed that,

0:07:13 > 0:07:17there are lots of other ideas you could try too! How about...

0:07:17 > 0:07:23this clown? With folded paper hair, a paper hat and pom-pom flowers!

0:07:23 > 0:07:26- Or how about a cowgirl?- Yee-ha!

0:07:26 > 0:07:30With curly-brown paper hair and a paper hat!

0:07:30 > 0:07:32Or you could even try this queen

0:07:32 > 0:07:36with curly golden hair and a pink crown!

0:07:36 > 0:07:37FANFARE PLAYS

0:07:37 > 0:07:41- What do you think? - They're great, Mister Maker!

0:07:41 > 0:07:44Well, I think you're great! Well done! We made it!

0:07:44 > 0:07:47Now your home is where the art is!

0:07:47 > 0:07:50What a fantastic pirate face mask!

0:10:25 > 0:10:26ALL: YAY!

0:10:26 > 0:10:31And here's what we're going to make today - a jazzy jar!

0:10:31 > 0:10:36It's beautiful! Now, to make one of these you will need...

0:10:36 > 0:10:41an old pot or jar with a lid like this one here, some coloured beads,

0:10:41 > 0:10:45some gloopy PVA glue, an old washing-up sponge,

0:10:45 > 0:10:50and it's also a good idea to do this with an old tray underneath,

0:10:50 > 0:10:53as it can get a little bit messy.

0:10:53 > 0:10:58Now, do you think it's possible to make this jazzy jar

0:10:58 > 0:10:59in just one minute?

0:10:59 > 0:11:01ALL: No way!

0:11:01 > 0:11:06I think I can. I'm going to have to be very quick, but don't worry.

0:11:06 > 0:11:10I'll remind you how to do it at the end. Are you ready?

0:11:10 > 0:11:12ALL: YEAH!

0:11:12 > 0:11:14Are you ready?

0:11:14 > 0:11:16Great! Let's make it in a minute!

0:11:16 > 0:11:18Three, two, one...

0:11:18 > 0:11:20Start the clock!

0:11:20 > 0:11:24First get our sponge and put on some gloopy glue

0:11:24 > 0:11:26round the side of our jar.

0:11:26 > 0:11:30Put it all the way around the side but not on this top edge,

0:11:30 > 0:11:33because that's where the lid goes.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36Now start putting on our beads.

0:11:36 > 0:11:38We sprinkle them on top,

0:11:38 > 0:11:42you can use whatever colour beads you like.

0:11:42 > 0:11:46Don't worry if they fall over the tray like this,

0:11:46 > 0:11:48cos we can use them later.

0:11:48 > 0:11:50Let's put some green on.

0:11:50 > 0:11:53Here we go around with the green.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55Then some blue as well.

0:11:55 > 0:11:57Whoa, sprinkly! Here we go!

0:11:57 > 0:12:00Like that, there we go. Put that there.

0:12:00 > 0:12:04Now I need to cover our lid with glue as well.

0:12:04 > 0:12:08All round there, and some round the side.

0:12:08 > 0:12:12That's it. And then sprinkle a few more on to the lid.

0:12:15 > 0:12:17Some blue, and a few of those.

0:12:17 > 0:12:21If I put that on top of there, we've got a jazzy jar!

0:12:21 > 0:12:26If you've got more than a minute you can make all sorts of jazzy jars.

0:12:26 > 0:12:30You could try this stripy multicoloured jar.

0:12:30 > 0:12:34Or why not add some bigger beads to make a flowery pattern.

0:12:34 > 0:12:37Jazzy jars, made in a minute!

0:12:37 > 0:12:41Why don't you have a go? Here's a reminder of how to do it.

0:12:41 > 0:12:45Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:12:45 > 0:12:50Cover a plastic jar with gloopy glue, pour the beads onto the glue,

0:12:50 > 0:12:53and stick more glue and beads to the lid.

0:12:53 > 0:12:58Then leave it to dry and your jazzy jar is finished.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24These look like the letter V.
