0:03:43 > 0:03:45All right, Ben,

0:03:45 > 0:03:49let's make a tartan tissue picture, like this one...

0:03:49 > 0:03:50here.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53Tartan is a very special pattern,

0:03:53 > 0:03:58with lots of colourful stripes criss-crossing each other.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01- All right then, Ben. Are you ready? - Yeah!- Great!

0:04:01 > 0:04:03Are YOU ready?

0:04:03 > 0:04:05Brilliant! Let's get making!

0:04:05 > 0:04:06Now first,

0:04:06 > 0:04:10we're going to get some sheets of coloured tissue paper.

0:04:12 > 0:04:16This usually comes folded up. But YOU can fold it yourself.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21Now, let's take a ruler...

0:04:21 > 0:04:25Excuse me, Ben ..and we're going to use

0:04:25 > 0:04:26the ruler to tear strips

0:04:26 > 0:04:29of the tissue paper like this.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33There we go.

0:04:33 > 0:04:39This gives us a tissue paper strip.

0:04:39 > 0:04:44Look at that! I need to make lots of strips, Ben. Will you help?

0:04:44 > 0:04:46- Yeah!- Great! OK, take a ruler,

0:04:46 > 0:04:49and let's get some tissue paper for you.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52Let's tear some strips.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55Yes! Well done!

0:04:55 > 0:04:59You keep going with that, and I'll keep going with the purple.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02We'll need lots of strips for our pattern.

0:05:02 > 0:05:03TICK TOCK!

0:05:03 > 0:05:05And you can use any colours.

0:05:05 > 0:05:06Well done, Ben!

0:05:06 > 0:05:09Lots of lovely paper strips here.

0:05:09 > 0:05:10Let's move them all over to you.

0:05:10 > 0:05:12Can you take these?

0:05:12 > 0:05:13You look after those,

0:05:13 > 0:05:17because we need to bring in a sheet of light-coloured card...

0:05:17 > 0:05:19like this.

0:05:19 > 0:05:23And we're going to brush water all over it.

0:05:23 > 0:05:28This can get messy, so put down some old paper or newspaper first.

0:05:28 > 0:05:30Excellent! Now we can start

0:05:30 > 0:05:32to lay down our tissue paper strips.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34Let's start with purple.

0:05:34 > 0:05:38We're going to lay our strips down ACROSS the card,

0:05:38 > 0:05:42and then we can brush some extra water on top...

0:05:42 > 0:05:45to make sure it's really stuck down.

0:05:48 > 0:05:52Great! Now let's stick down the rest of our strips.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54Green.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56Pink.

0:05:56 > 0:05:57Orange.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59And yellow.

0:05:59 > 0:06:04Now repeat your colours in the same way, to the bottom of the page.

0:06:04 > 0:06:06We've got all of our strips

0:06:06 > 0:06:08that are lying ACROSS the card.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10And now we're going to lay down

0:06:10 > 0:06:13strips from the TOP to the BOTTOM.

0:06:13 > 0:06:15So let's start with purple,

0:06:15 > 0:06:18and lay the strips down in the same order.

0:06:18 > 0:06:21And make sure your tissue paper stays nice and wet.

0:06:23 > 0:06:25Now we leave it to dry overnight.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28Unless, of course,

0:06:28 > 0:06:31you can use some Mister Maker magic to speed things up!

0:06:31 > 0:06:34Ben, get ready to click those fingers.

0:06:34 > 0:06:36One, two, three! CLICK!

0:06:39 > 0:06:41Oh, look at that!

0:06:41 > 0:06:45It's all dry, and it's time for even more magic now, because

0:06:45 > 0:06:50when the tissue strips are dry, we can carefully peel them away...

0:06:53 > 0:06:59..to see that our criss-cross pattern has been left behind!

0:06:59 > 0:07:03The colour has leaked from the tissue paper strips onto our card.

0:07:03 > 0:07:07And our tartan tissue picture is finished!

0:07:07 > 0:07:11You can use the same idea to make all sorts of different pictures!

0:07:11 > 0:07:16You could try using other colours, like red and orange.

0:07:16 > 0:07:20Why not try laying the tissue paper in a different direction,

0:07:20 > 0:07:22like this blue and green pattern?

0:07:22 > 0:07:26Or you could even cut out tissue paper circles,

0:07:26 > 0:07:29and make a colourful spotty pattern.

0:07:30 > 0:07:34Tartan tissue pictures! Why don't YOU try one today?

0:07:34 > 0:07:37- What d'you think of our picture then, Ben?- Good!

0:07:37 > 0:07:40Well, I think you've been great! We made it!

0:10:46 > 0:10:48Hi, Stripy!

0:10:48 > 0:10:52And you can make one in just one minute, by using...

0:10:52 > 0:10:56a pencil, a pipe cleaner, a long sock... You can use

0:10:56 > 0:11:00whatever sock you like, but it's great if it's stripy.

0:11:00 > 0:11:04..some uncooked rice, a glue stick

0:11:04 > 0:11:06and we'll also need some googly eyes.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58So it's about half full, like that.

0:11:58 > 0:12:01Then we're going to tie a knot in the end, like that.

0:12:01 > 0:12:06Nice and tight, so the rice doesn't fall out. There we go.

0:12:06 > 0:12:09Now we need to get our pipe cleaner,

0:12:09 > 0:12:12and very carefully push it through the sock,

0:12:12 > 0:12:14like this.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17Is it going to go through? Hang on, there it is!

0:12:17 > 0:12:21Pull it so it sticks out of both ends. And then grab a pencil.

0:12:21 > 0:12:26We're going to wind the pipe cleaner around the pencil

0:12:26 > 0:12:30that side, and then also wind it around that side.

0:12:30 > 0:12:33And if we pull out the pencil and bend these up,

0:12:54 > 0:12:56why don't you try lots of other ideas?

0:12:56 > 0:13:01You can make a spotty one, with a spotty sock and pompoms.

0:13:01 > 0:13:06If you've only got a plain sock, you could stick on these stars.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08And with a really long sock,

0:13:08 > 0:13:11you could make a really long bug!

0:13:11 > 0:13:15Stripy sock-bugs, made in a minute! Why don't you try it?
