0:01:22 > 0:01:27Let's make it. We'll need some things from the doodle drawers.
0:01:29 > 0:01:32Some coloured paper.
0:01:36 > 0:01:38A glue stick.
0:01:41 > 0:01:44A rubber duck?! No, I don't think so.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04like this one here, you need a big piece of coloured paper.
0:02:04 > 0:02:09Now, I've got a purple piece here. This is going to be our background.
0:02:09 > 0:02:13We need another piece of paper. A different colour
0:02:13 > 0:02:16and we can start tearing all sorts of shapes and sizes.
0:02:16 > 0:02:19How about a square shape first?
0:02:21 > 0:02:24And how about another square shape now?
0:02:24 > 0:02:27But this time with torn strips down the length of it.
0:02:29 > 0:02:31Almost to the end.
0:02:31 > 0:02:33It looks a bit like a comb.
0:02:33 > 0:02:37Let's get another bit of yellow paper. This one will be a spiral.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52Let's try another colour. How about... I know, green!
0:02:54 > 0:02:56Let's tear out a rectangle shape this time
0:02:56 > 0:03:01and if we fold this in half like that
0:03:01 > 0:03:05and then tear out a shape from the folded edge like this.
0:03:05 > 0:03:09Open it up and place it on your paper.
0:03:09 > 0:03:13Keep going with lots of pieces of coloured paper.
0:03:13 > 0:03:16You can make as many tears and shapes as you want to.
0:03:18 > 0:03:24When you're happy with all your torn pieces stick them down with glue.
0:03:27 > 0:03:30When it's finished, it looks like this.
0:03:30 > 0:03:34For some more detail, you can draw dots and patterns all over it.
0:03:34 > 0:03:37This silver pen makes a fantastic effect.
0:03:38 > 0:03:41Doesn't it look brilliant?
0:03:41 > 0:03:45And here are some other patterns you can make too.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11BELL RINGS
0:07:11 > 0:07:13Two lumps of air-drying clay.
0:07:13 > 0:07:15One slightly bigger than the other.
0:07:15 > 0:07:18I'm gonna rip a bit off the big bit
0:07:18 > 0:07:20and make a small ball in one hand
0:07:20 > 0:07:23and one in the other and put those to the side.
0:07:23 > 0:07:26These are going to be the head and the body.
0:07:26 > 0:07:30Let's squidge those together. The head goes on top.
0:07:30 > 0:07:35Now, I'm gonna give our pencil bug some hair.
0:07:35 > 0:07:37I'll push it in with the pencil.
0:07:37 > 0:07:40Now if I turn it over, there's one arm on there.
0:07:40 > 0:07:44Give him an arm on the other side.
0:07:44 > 0:07:45As quickly as I can.
0:07:45 > 0:07:47Now, he needs some legs.
0:07:47 > 0:07:49He needs legs. Let's give him two.
0:07:49 > 0:07:52Let's give him some legs there.
0:07:52 > 0:07:54There's one leg and there's the other.
0:07:54 > 0:07:56He's looking good.

0:07:59 > 0:08:01There's one and two.
0:08:01 > 0:08:05Now we can give him feet with these smaller balls there.
0:08:05 > 0:08:07There's one and there's two
0:08:07 > 0:08:11and then we can push a pencil in the bottom.
0:08:11 > 0:08:13- That was close!- That was close!
0:08:13 > 0:08:17When your pencil bug is dry and you have more than a minute,
0:08:17 > 0:08:22you could paint it a bright colour and maybe cover it in PVA glue
0:08:22 > 0:08:24to keep everything stuck together.
0:08:24 > 0:08:28Plus there are lots of other ideas you can try too.
0:08:28 > 0:08:30How about a stripy, orange and red one?

0:08:46 > 0:08:49Roll two large balls and two small balls of clay
0:08:49 > 0:08:53Put the large balls together to make a head and body.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01Stick on your googly eyes.
0:09:01 > 0:09:06Add the two small balls for feet.
0:09:06 > 0:09:11Now you can stick your pencil bug onto your pencil.
0:09:13 > 0:09:16Why don't you try making it in a minute?
0:09:16 > 0:09:23ALL: Hello, Mister Maker. Guess what we're making today.
0:09:23 > 0:09:26I don't know. Let's find out.
0:09:32 > 0:09:35I'm orange.
0:09:45 > 0:09:47I am purple.
0:09:56 > 0:09:59I am red.
0:10:03 > 0:10:05I am black.
0:10:06 > 0:10:09I am green.
0:10:10 > 0:10:13I am grey.
0:10:18 > 0:10:21ALL: It's a crown!
0:10:21 > 0:10:24Well done, everyone! See you next time.
0:10:24 > 0:10:25Now it's time to...
0:10:25 > 0:10:27..frame it!
0:10:27 > 0:10:29Frame it.
0:10:31 > 0:10:33Frame it.
0:10:33 > 0:10:37Now, take a look at this.
0:10:37 > 0:10:40It's a brilliant rainbow picture.
0:10:40 > 0:10:44It was made using chalk pastels and torn paper.
0:10:44 > 0:10:47It's very easy to do but makes a picture look so good,
0:10:47 > 0:10:49you'll be able to frame it.
0:10:49 > 0:10:53You will need blue, light green and dark green paper,
0:10:53 > 0:10:56some colourful chalk pastels,
0:10:56 > 0:11:00a ruler, a pencil, a rubber and some glue.
0:11:00 > 0:11:02To make a rainbow picture,
0:11:02 > 0:11:07start off by drawing a faint pencil line across your page
0:11:07 > 0:11:09just below the middle, with a ruler.
0:11:11 > 0:11:14Starting at your pencil line,
0:11:14 > 0:11:16draw a big curve with a red chalk pastel
0:11:16 > 0:11:21in the middle of the paper, like this on top of the pencil line.
0:11:21 > 0:11:26Now do the same in orange above it
0:11:26 > 0:11:28and do it once again with yellow.
0:11:28 > 0:11:31We're going to keep following this pattern
0:11:31 > 0:11:33with the colours of the rainbow.
0:11:33 > 0:11:36That's green, blue, purple and indigo.
0:11:36 > 0:11:40Use your hand and fingers to smudge the rainbow colours
0:11:40 > 0:11:41right across the page.
0:11:41 > 0:11:44It gives a wonderful hazy effect.
0:11:44 > 0:11:46Now, wipe your hands.
0:11:46 > 0:11:50Then to make the hills, tear off one corner of the paper
0:11:50 > 0:11:53making sure that you leave two straight edges.
0:11:53 > 0:11:56Now you can match up the corner of the torn out piece
0:11:56 > 0:11:59to the bottom of the rainbow picture
0:11:59 > 0:12:00to make a hill.
0:12:00 > 0:12:04Now do the same for the other side with some dark green paper.
0:12:04 > 0:12:07You can add as many hills as you like
0:12:07 > 0:12:10and stick them down.
0:12:10 > 0:12:15Now take a clean rubber and rub out any leftover pencil line.
0:12:15 > 0:12:19And as a finishing touch, draw flowers on the hills
0:12:19 > 0:12:21with the chalk pastels.
0:12:21 > 0:12:23Beautiful!
0:12:23 > 0:12:27What a brilliant picture. Why don't you have a go?
0:12:27 > 0:12:30And then...frame it!
0:12:30 > 0:12:33What a lovely rainbow.
0:12:33 > 0:12:37Now, take a look at this.
0:12:37 > 0:12:39It's my magic pencil
0:12:39 > 0:12:42and it can draw pictures all on its own.
0:12:42 > 0:12:44Watch this!
0:12:45 > 0:12:50What's my magic pencil up to this time?
0:12:58 > 0:13:01Can you guess what it's drawing?
0:13:03 > 0:13:05Any ideas?
0:13:05 > 0:13:08It's a cowboy!
0:13:08 > 0:13:10Well done, magic pencil!
0:13:10 > 0:13:12Now, how about a story?
0:13:12 > 0:13:15This book that I'm reading is brilliant!
0:13:15 > 0:13:18It's so exciting. Listen to this.
0:13:18 > 0:13:21"It was a cold and stormy night.
0:13:21 > 0:13:26"The wind howled and the rain poured
0:13:26 > 0:13:31"as old Albert Maker, the famous fisherman
0:13:31 > 0:13:36"struggled against the high seas in his tiny fishing boat.
0:13:36 > 0:13:41"He'd hit a rock and he was sinking fast.
0:13:41 > 0:13:44"What was he going to do?
0:13:44 > 0:13:46"He couldn't see dry land.
0:13:46 > 0:13:50"Then, out of nowhere, came bursts of light.
0:13:50 > 0:13:52"One after the other.
0:13:52 > 0:13:56"A lighthouse! I'm saved!
0:13:56 > 0:13:58"And by the light of the lighthouse
0:13:58 > 0:14:02"old Albert Maker made his way safely home."
0:14:02 > 0:14:05Wow! Albert was really brave.
0:14:05 > 0:14:09You wouldn't catch me sailing on the high seas, no way!
0:14:09 > 0:14:15Ooh! This gives me an idea though.
0:14:15 > 0:14:17Let's make something!
0:14:17 > 0:14:21A fantastic lighthouse made out of an empty crisp tube,
0:14:21 > 0:14:23that can light up your room.
0:14:23 > 0:14:27Let's make it! We'll need some things from the doodle drawers.
0:14:30 > 0:14:34An empty cardboard crisp tube and a clear plastic jar with a lid.
0:14:37 > 0:14:40Some newspaper and a black pen.
0:14:43 > 0:14:46Some paint.
0:14:48 > 0:14:52A piece of cardboard and an empty juice carton.
0:14:54 > 0:14:57Some glue.
0:14:59 > 0:15:03And some strips of red card and a torch.
0:15:03 > 0:15:09Whoa! Now to make your very own lighthouse like this one here.
0:15:09 > 0:15:12First make sure that your juice carton
0:15:12 > 0:15:15is smaller than your piece of cardboard.
0:15:15 > 0:15:18Let's have a look. Yes, it is.
0:15:18 > 0:15:22Now we can use gloopy PVA glue to stick this on.
0:15:27 > 0:15:28Now that's in position,
0:15:28 > 0:15:33we can glue on our crisp tube on top of the juice carton.
0:15:33 > 0:15:38And when you've done that, leave it to dry.
0:15:38 > 0:15:41Then we scrunch up some newspaper
0:15:41 > 0:15:43to cover our juice carton and the cardboard
0:15:43 > 0:15:46because this is going to be the rocks
0:15:46 > 0:15:49at the bottom of the lighthouse.
0:15:49 > 0:15:51Now, the more scrunched up you make it,
0:15:51 > 0:15:53the better it will look.
0:15:58 > 0:16:02Glue scrunched up newspaper all over the carton.
0:16:04 > 0:16:08Now it's dry, we can start painting it.
0:16:08 > 0:16:10Let's do the crisp tube white.
0:16:19 > 0:16:22And we can paint the newspaper grey
0:16:22 > 0:16:25adding some white and blue paint on top of the grey
0:16:25 > 0:16:29to make the crashing waves underneath the lighthouse.
0:16:29 > 0:16:33Now, we need to add some red stripes to our lighthouse
0:16:33 > 0:16:34like this.
0:16:34 > 0:16:38Now, we do that by adding our red strips of card.
0:16:38 > 0:16:43Put glue on one end of one of the bits of card.
0:16:45 > 0:16:49And then, if we wrap it around the tube
0:16:49 > 0:16:54so it overlaps and glue it together like that.
0:16:54 > 0:16:59We get a stripe. Fantastic!
0:16:59 > 0:17:02Start off by doing the bottom one
0:17:02 > 0:17:06then do a stripe at the top and then one in the middle.
0:17:09 > 0:17:14Now it's dry, we can add some windows and a door
0:17:14 > 0:17:16with a black pen.
0:17:28 > 0:17:33Now, let's take the lid off our plastic jar, like that.
0:17:33 > 0:17:40Turn the jar upside down and then glue the lid on top.
0:17:40 > 0:17:44Use a glue stick for this.
0:17:46 > 0:17:51Put that on there. Perfect!
0:17:51 > 0:17:56And if we put it on top, we've got ourselves a lighthouse! Fantastic!
0:17:56 > 0:17:58Now, let's light it up...
0:17:58 > 0:18:02by finding a torch that fits inside.
0:18:02 > 0:18:06This one looks good. If we turn it on and pop it in.
0:18:07 > 0:18:10We can put that on top.
0:18:10 > 0:18:12Look! It looks fantastic!
0:18:12 > 0:18:14Now, let's see if it works.
0:18:14 > 0:18:17Let's turn down the lights.
0:18:18 > 0:18:24There! You've got your very own lighthouse to see in the dark.
0:18:24 > 0:18:27Doesn't it look realistic?
0:18:28 > 0:18:31Ah! I love the smell of the sea.
0:18:31 > 0:18:34The crashing waves. Oh!
