0:00:38 > 0:00:40# Make it, Mister Maker! #

0:00:43 > 0:00:46Oh! Hello there! Great to see you again!

0:00:46 > 0:00:49I'm just about to go bird-watching!

0:00:49 > 0:00:51Why don't you join me? It'll be great fun!

0:00:51 > 0:00:57Hmm, now. I'm looking for a very rare bird.

0:00:57 > 0:01:01It's the marvellous, multi-coloured, Makerland bird.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Yeah! I've never seen one before!

0:01:07 > 0:01:09Oooh, nothing yet!

0:01:09 > 0:01:14Maybe I should perform my very special bird call, yeah!

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Cukcaw-cuckaw-cukaw!

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Now that's done, let's see what we can see!

0:01:22 > 0:01:26Oh wow! There she is!

0:01:26 > 0:01:30Oh the marvellous, multi-coloured Makerland bird!

0:01:30 > 0:01:34And do you know, she's given me a great idea!

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Let's try something!

0:01:38 > 0:01:42Try making a brilliant bird's nest picture! With a woven, woolly nest!

0:01:43 > 0:01:47Let's make it! We'll need some things from the doodle drawers!

0:01:52 > 0:01:53Some wool.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Some card.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02A hole-punch.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07A pen and some scissors.

0:02:10 > 0:02:15And some sticky white stickers, and some gloopy PVA glue!

0:02:16 > 0:02:21Now, to make your own brilliant bird in its own wonderful woolly nest,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23like this one here,

0:02:23 > 0:02:29we first need to draw a half-circle shape on some coloured card.

0:02:29 > 0:02:34Now the easiest way to do this is to draw around something big and round!

0:02:34 > 0:02:36Like a plate.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40Now this should give us a big circle.

0:02:40 > 0:02:41It does, great.

0:02:41 > 0:02:47If we take a ruler and draw a line across the middle of it...

0:02:47 > 0:02:48Perfect!

0:02:48 > 0:02:52Now, let's cut out just one of these half circle shapes,

0:02:52 > 0:02:55but be careful because scissors are sharp!

0:03:02 > 0:03:07Next take a hole-punch, and very carefully punch holes

0:03:07 > 0:03:11all the way around the curved edge of the half circle.

0:03:13 > 0:03:17Here we go. Now this can be a bit tricky,

0:03:17 > 0:03:20so you might want to ask an adult to help.

0:03:23 > 0:03:29Next take a long piece of wool! It's time to make a woolly nest!

0:03:29 > 0:03:33Thread the wool through each hole, one side to the other,

0:03:33 > 0:03:35there we go.

0:03:35 > 0:03:37Now feed the wool through every hole,

0:03:37 > 0:03:40backwards and forwards across the nest!

0:03:40 > 0:03:45If you want your nest thicker, pass it through the same holes again!

0:03:45 > 0:03:47Don't worry if you run out of wool,

0:03:47 > 0:03:50you can use another piece and keep going!

0:03:52 > 0:03:57Once you're happy with your nest, turn it over and tie up

0:03:57 > 0:04:02all of the loose ends with knots and snip off any extra bits of wool!

0:04:02 > 0:04:06Now we've got our nest, we need two birds to live in it!

0:04:06 > 0:04:10Let's get some bits of coloured card.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13It works well if they are different colours.

0:04:13 > 0:04:14And let's draw two birds!

0:04:14 > 0:04:17Each bird is a big circle shape,

0:04:17 > 0:04:22with a smaller circle shape on top for the head!

0:04:22 > 0:04:24And curvy wings.

0:04:29 > 0:04:34Now carefully cut out two triangle beak shapes from orange card,

0:04:34 > 0:04:37and cut out your bird shapes.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44Next we need to take some white-circle stickers,

0:04:44 > 0:04:46and put them on for eyes!

0:04:47 > 0:04:51We can add a black dot in the middle with a pen.

0:04:55 > 0:04:56Stick on the beaks.

0:04:58 > 0:05:00Little bit of glue there.

0:05:04 > 0:05:08Now, we can stick our birds inside our nest!

0:05:10 > 0:05:15We can even stick our bird's nest on another piece of coloured paper

0:05:15 > 0:05:18or card to make it really stand out!

0:05:21 > 0:05:22Fantastic!

0:05:22 > 0:05:27You don't just have to make a bird's nest. you know. Oh no!

0:05:27 > 0:05:28How about...

0:05:28 > 0:05:30a woolly spider's web!?

0:05:31 > 0:05:33With a card spider!

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Or even a cottage with a woolly thatched roof!

0:05:37 > 0:05:38It's up to you!

0:05:38 > 0:05:41But now, let's get back to our marvellous,

0:05:41 > 0:05:43multi-coloured Makerland bird!

0:05:43 > 0:05:46And have a look at what she's up to! Come on!

0:05:49 > 0:05:56Hey! She's looking at ME through her binoculars!

0:05:56 > 0:05:59Honestly, how rude!

0:06:02 > 0:06:05There! I like to have some privacy, you know!

0:06:05 > 0:06:07SNORING

0:06:07 > 0:06:09Oh. What's that noise?

0:06:09 > 0:06:11It's coming from the shelves!

0:06:15 > 0:06:17That's right! It's the shapes!

0:06:17 > 0:06:19They're asleep again!

0:06:20 > 0:06:21Let's wake them up!

0:07:14 > 0:07:16I am a square!

0:07:17 > 0:07:21What do you think the squares are making today?

0:07:30 > 0:07:32Any ideas yet?

0:07:33 > 0:07:35It's a train!

0:07:35 > 0:07:37Well done, square!

0:08:12 > 0:08:13I'm wibbley-wobbley!

0:08:14 > 0:08:16To make one, you will need:

0:08:17 > 0:08:18A glue stick.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20A pipe-cleaner.

0:08:20 > 0:08:23Two pom-poms, that's one big and one small.

0:08:23 > 0:08:28And we'll also need some air-drying clay, some googly eyes,

0:08:28 > 0:08:30and half of a plastic egg!

0:08:30 > 0:08:34You can get these from a toy shop or an arts and crafts shop!

0:08:34 > 0:08:36I'll be back in a tick, wait there!

0:08:37 > 0:08:39CAR ENGINE STARTS

0:08:39 > 0:08:40I've got them!

0:08:43 > 0:08:44Let's have a look!

0:08:45 > 0:08:47One googly eye.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49There's two.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52And there's the ball of air-drying clay.

0:08:52 > 0:08:56Also, here's a plastic egg which splits into two halves.

0:08:56 > 0:09:01I'm going to use this half, which has a rounded bottom.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04Now you don't just have to use a plastic egg, oh no!

0:09:04 > 0:09:08There are lots of plastic containers that you can use!

0:09:08 > 0:09:11Just make sure they split into two halves.

0:09:11 > 0:09:15Do you think it's possible to make this in just one minute?

0:09:15 > 0:09:16No way!

0:09:16 > 0:09:19Oh! Well I think I can do it, Tocky!

0:09:19 > 0:09:24I'll have be quick! I'll remind you how to do it at the end!

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Start the clock!

0:09:26 > 0:09:27Here we go!

0:09:27 > 0:09:30Let's get our ball of air-drying clay

0:09:30 > 0:09:34and squidge it into the bottom of our half of the egg.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36Then we get a pipe-cleaner

0:09:36 > 0:09:39and wrap it around our finger to make a spring!

0:09:39 > 0:09:42I'm gonna spring into action, Tocky!

0:09:42 > 0:09:46And push the spring into the clay, like that.

0:09:46 > 0:09:48That's looking wobbly and good!

0:09:48 > 0:09:50Now let's make our bug.

0:09:50 > 0:09:54I'm going to put plenty of glue on to the small pom-pom,

0:09:54 > 0:09:56like that, to make a nose.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59Then I'm gonna put on the googly eyes!

0:09:59 > 0:10:01Here we go, one googly eye.

0:10:01 > 0:10:04And here's the other googly eye going on!

0:10:04 > 0:10:06There we go!

0:10:06 > 0:10:11And now I just need to stick him into the top of the spring.

0:10:11 > 0:10:12Like this!

0:10:12 > 0:10:17There he goes! You've got yourself one wobbly bug!

0:10:19 > 0:10:21Stop the clock!

0:10:21 > 0:10:24And if you've got more than a minute,

0:10:24 > 0:10:27there are other wobbly bugs you can make!

0:10:27 > 0:10:32How about using a yellow pipe cleaner with a purple pom-pom?

0:10:32 > 0:10:35Or why not try making a really big wobbly bug?

0:10:35 > 0:10:38By using a bigger pom-pom, and a bigger egg!

0:10:39 > 0:10:42Wobbly bugs made in a minute! Why don't you try making one?

0:10:42 > 0:10:45Here's a reminder of how to do it!

0:10:46 > 0:10:49Let's go back to the beginning and take another look!

0:10:50 > 0:10:53Put a ball of air-drying clay into the egg.

0:10:53 > 0:10:57Curl a pipe-cleaner around your finger to make a spring,

0:10:57 > 0:10:59and then stick it into the clay.

0:10:59 > 0:11:03And then stick a nose and two googly eyes on to the pom-pom!

0:11:03 > 0:11:08Push the pom-pom on to the spring to finish your wobbly bug!

0:11:11 > 0:11:14Why don't you make it in a minute?

0:11:14 > 0:11:16ALL: WE'RE HERE, MISTER MAKER!

0:11:16 > 0:11:18Oh, hello everyone!

0:11:18 > 0:11:20ALL: WATCH THIS!

0:11:20 > 0:11:21I wonder what they're up to!

0:11:27 > 0:11:29I am green!

0:11:34 > 0:11:36I am red!

0:11:43 > 0:11:45I am grey!

0:11:49 > 0:11:50I am black!

0:11:53 > 0:11:54I'm light blue!

0:11:56 > 0:11:58I'm dark blue!

0:12:02 > 0:12:06EVERYONE: It's a cement lorry!

0:12:06 > 0:12:09Well done everybody! See you next time! Now it's time to...

0:12:09 > 0:12:11Frame it!

0:12:12 > 0:12:13Frame it!

0:12:15 > 0:12:16Frame it!

0:12:17 > 0:12:19Now, take a look at this!

0:12:21 > 0:12:25It's an umbrella in the rain! It's really easy to do,

0:12:25 > 0:12:29but looks so good, you'll be able to frame it!

0:12:29 > 0:12:31You will need dark coloured paper,

0:12:31 > 0:12:33a silver pen, a pencil,

0:12:33 > 0:12:35paint, a brush, glue,

0:12:35 > 0:12:36beads and buttons

0:12:36 > 0:12:38and lots of blue stickers.

0:12:40 > 0:12:43Draw an umbrella on dark coloured paper, with a pencil.

0:12:43 > 0:12:48Then paint each panel of the umbrella a different colour.

0:12:49 > 0:12:53When it's dry, outline your umbrella with a silver pen

0:12:53 > 0:12:54and colour in the handle.

0:12:54 > 0:12:57To make the rain, stick down your buttons,

0:12:57 > 0:13:01beads and stickers in lines across the picture!

0:13:01 > 0:13:03Use small ones at the top...

0:13:04 > 0:13:06..and big ones at the bottom!

0:13:07 > 0:13:08Fantastic!

0:13:08 > 0:13:12And great fun to do on a rainy day!

0:13:12 > 0:13:14What a brilliant picture!

0:13:14 > 0:13:16Why don't you have a go?

0:13:16 > 0:13:19And then...frame it!

0:13:19 > 0:13:22Oh dear, looks like rain again!

0:13:22 > 0:13:25I'm starting to feel a little bit hungry!

0:13:25 > 0:13:30Mmm! Oh, excuse me! I'm just having a quick snack!

0:13:30 > 0:13:33I do like yoghurt! Ha-ha!

0:13:37 > 0:13:41Actually, I REALLY like yoghurt! Ha-ha-ha-ha!

0:13:42 > 0:13:45All right, I really, REALLY like yoghurt!

0:13:45 > 0:13:50Don't worry, all these yoghurt containers will come in handy,

0:13:50 > 0:13:52isn't that right, Mr Yoghurt Pot?

0:13:52 > 0:13:55- Yes!- Ha-ha-ha!

0:13:56 > 0:14:00Wait a minute! This has just given me a great idea!

0:14:01 > 0:14:02Let's make something!

0:14:04 > 0:14:08- Let's make an amazing yoghurt pot puppy-puppet!- Woof-woof-woof!

0:14:08 > 0:14:09Let's make it!

0:14:09 > 0:14:11As well as a yoghurt pot,

0:14:11 > 0:14:14we'll need things from the doodle drawers!

0:14:14 > 0:14:17Some glue.

0:14:19 > 0:14:22Some coloured paper and a black pen.

0:14:24 > 0:14:27And some scissors!

0:14:27 > 0:14:32So now you can make your very own yoghurt pot puppy-puppet,

0:14:32 > 0:14:34like this one here.

0:14:34 > 0:14:38Now, to make one of these, you need a plastic yoghurt pot like this

0:14:38 > 0:14:41that's split into two halves.

0:14:41 > 0:14:45You need to get an adult to help you find one,

0:14:45 > 0:14:46and clean it out!

0:14:46 > 0:14:48Then we need to paint it.

0:14:48 > 0:14:52You can paint your puppy-puppet whatever colour you like,

0:14:52 > 0:14:56but I think we should paint this one with a brown face,

0:14:56 > 0:15:00and then maybe a black nose and a black mouth!

0:15:00 > 0:15:04Now to paint our dog, we need to make a very special painty mixture,

0:15:04 > 0:15:07that's made up of half paint...

0:15:08 > 0:15:09and half gloopy glue!

0:15:10 > 0:15:13Now this will really make sure that our painty mixture

0:15:13 > 0:15:15sticks to the plastic.

0:15:15 > 0:15:17Let's give them a mix!

0:15:19 > 0:15:22Here we go! Now, let's get painting!

0:15:25 > 0:15:29When the paint is dry, you can add some more detail with a black pen!

0:15:29 > 0:15:33You can draw a line doing down from the nose to the mouth,

0:15:33 > 0:15:36and we can add on some dots for whiskers!

0:15:36 > 0:15:37Great!

0:15:37 > 0:15:40Now we need to give our puppy some ears.

0:15:40 > 0:15:44So for that we're going to bring in a piece of brown paper,

0:15:44 > 0:15:48and we're going to slide it like this underneath our dog,

0:15:48 > 0:15:51and then we're going to draw on two big ears!

0:15:51 > 0:15:55That's one ear here, and another ear here!

0:15:55 > 0:16:00Now let's remove the pot and add on a little bit extra.

0:16:02 > 0:16:04Then we're going to cut out the ears,

0:16:04 > 0:16:07but be careful, because scissors are sharp!

0:16:17 > 0:16:21Glue the ears on to the back of the puppy's head,

0:16:21 > 0:16:23there!

0:16:23 > 0:16:28Our dog is starting to take shape, but now he needs eyes and teeth!

0:16:28 > 0:16:31So for that, we're going to need some white paper or card.

0:16:31 > 0:16:34We're going to start off with the eyes.

0:16:34 > 0:16:39A good way to draw a circle is to draw around something round,

0:16:39 > 0:16:40like this glue stick.

0:16:40 > 0:16:44There are our circles, they will be the puppy's eyes.

0:16:44 > 0:16:46Let's add pupils now with a black dot.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51We can draw some nice dog teeth now as well.

0:16:55 > 0:16:58And for the tongue, we need some pink paper!

0:16:59 > 0:17:02Let's draw a nice big fat tongue shape!

0:17:02 > 0:17:05Now we can cut all of our shapes out very carefully!

0:17:10 > 0:17:14Next we can glue the eyes on the puppy's head,

0:17:16 > 0:17:18For the teeth,

0:17:18 > 0:17:25we need to very carefully fold over the teeth there along this edge,

0:17:25 > 0:17:28and then we can glue along this edge here,

0:17:28 > 0:17:34to help the teeth stick in position. And the roof of the mouth there.

0:17:34 > 0:17:39And last, we've got the tongue! Let's put some glue on that!

0:17:39 > 0:17:44And we can stick that on the bottom part of the dog's mouth here.
