0:00:28 > 0:00:32# Oh, la-la-la-la M-m-make it, Mister Maker

0:00:34 > 0:00:38# Oh, la-la-la-la Make it, Mister Maker! #

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Oh, hello, there! Great to see you again.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47DOORBELL RINGS

0:00:47 > 0:00:49Oh! I wonder who that could be?

0:00:51 > 0:00:53There's a parcel for me!

0:00:57 > 0:01:00Wow! It's a huge present! How exciting!

0:01:00 > 0:01:02Let's unwrap it! Ha-ha!

0:01:12 > 0:01:14It's a...

0:01:14 > 0:01:19grape! There's a note with it.

0:01:19 > 0:01:24"Hello, I hope you're well. I was eating a lovely bunch of grapes

0:01:24 > 0:01:29"and I thought you might like one. Lots of love, Auntie Mildred."

0:01:29 > 0:01:33Oh, well, thanks, Auntie Mildred! Mmm, very nice!

0:01:33 > 0:01:38But I think you might have used too much wrapping paper.

0:01:38 > 0:01:42Still, all this wrapping paper gives me a great idea.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44Let's try something!

0:01:44 > 0:01:49Try making a brilliant, brightly coloured wrapping-paper picture.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53Let's make it! As well as some wrapping paper

0:01:53 > 0:01:57we'll need some other things from the Doodle Drawers.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01Some white stickers...

0:02:04 > 0:02:06..some coloured paper...

0:02:10 > 0:02:13..a pen and a ruler...

0:02:15 > 0:02:19..and some glue and some scissors!

0:02:19 > 0:02:25Now, to make a brilliant coloured wrapping-paper picture,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28like this one here.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32First get yourself a piece of brightly-coloured paper.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36This can be whatever colour you like but I think this orange

0:02:36 > 0:02:40will look good, because this is going to be our background.

0:02:40 > 0:02:44Then take a different colour piece of paper and cut a strip

0:02:44 > 0:02:47to run across the bottom, like this.

0:02:47 > 0:02:51Now be every careful, because scissors are sharp.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01Glue it into place.

0:03:06 > 0:03:13There! Lovely! Now let's put a sun in the sky!

0:03:13 > 0:03:16For that we need to draw round something that's round,

0:03:16 > 0:03:19like the outside of a paper cup.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22Let's cut it out very carefully.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31There's our sun, so let's glue it in position.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43There! Now for the fun bit!

0:03:43 > 0:03:48Let's get some scraps of coloured wrapping paper and

0:03:48 > 0:03:50we can draw whatever we want onto it!

0:03:50 > 0:03:58This is going to be an elephant. Let's start with a curvy body,

0:03:58 > 0:04:02and a long trunk. Four legs...

0:04:05 > 0:04:07..and, of course, a funny tail!

0:04:10 > 0:04:14And we can draw the ears on a different scrap of wrapping paper.

0:04:14 > 0:04:18This will make our elephant look really colourful.

0:04:18 > 0:04:23Now let's cut all of our elephant parts out!

0:04:29 > 0:04:34Now you can glue your elephant down onto the background paper.

0:04:37 > 0:04:41Now we can give our elephant some eyes, with white stickers.

0:04:42 > 0:04:46Make these eyes really stand out by getting a black pen

0:04:46 > 0:04:49and putting a dot in the middle for a pupil

0:04:49 > 0:04:51and giving them a nice outline.

0:04:51 > 0:04:56And you can add something else to the picture.

0:04:56 > 0:04:59Let's add a brightly-coloured mouse!

0:04:59 > 0:05:01Let's grab some other scraps

0:05:01 > 0:05:07of wrapping paper in different colours and draw a tear drop shape

0:05:07 > 0:05:09for the mouse's body. There we go!

0:05:09 > 0:05:12Now let's draw the ears and the tail

0:05:12 > 0:05:15on a completely different coloured paper.

0:05:17 > 0:05:23There's one ear, two ears and a tail.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26Now let's carefully cut out all of our mouse parts.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33Then glue the mouse onto your picture.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39Add a white sticker for its eye,

0:05:39 > 0:05:42again, with your black pen, add a pupil in the middle

0:05:42 > 0:05:47and draw around the outline. There! Doesn't it look fantastic!

0:05:47 > 0:05:51And the great thing is that you can use all sorts

0:05:51 > 0:05:55of different wrapping paper to create all sorts

0:05:55 > 0:05:59of different hilarious pictures! The brighter the better.

0:05:59 > 0:06:00Take a look at these!

0:06:00 > 0:06:04This is a cuddly cat sitting on a cosy cushion

0:06:04 > 0:06:07with a little spotty bird.

0:06:08 > 0:06:13Or how about this tall, stripy dog, and his sausage dog friend?

0:06:13 > 0:06:15They're all great ideas,

0:06:15 > 0:06:20but I think the elephant and mouse picture is my favourite.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22MOUSE SQUEAKS

0:06:22 > 0:06:23ELEPHANTS ROARS

0:06:23 > 0:06:25Oh, Mr Elephant, wait, come back!

0:06:25 > 0:06:33It's only a mouse! I don't know! Oh, what's that snoring sound?

0:06:33 > 0:06:35We know, don't we? Come on!

0:06:35 > 0:06:40It's the Shapes! They're asleep again!

0:06:40 > 0:06:41Let's wake them up!

0:06:42 > 0:06:44SHAPES GRUNT AND SNORE

0:06:46 > 0:06:48Ooh!

0:06:48 > 0:06:50Hey-hey-hey! Wha-hey!

0:06:50 > 0:06:54TOGETHER: Whoa, hey, a-ya!

0:07:02 > 0:07:03# I am a shape

0:07:03 > 0:07:05# La-la-la-la!

0:07:06 > 0:07:08# I am a shape

0:07:08 > 0:07:10# La-la-la-la

0:07:12 > 0:07:13# I am a circle

0:07:16 > 0:07:19# I am a triangle

0:07:21 > 0:07:23# I am a square

0:07:26 > 0:07:28# I am a rectangle

0:07:31 > 0:07:33# I am a shape

0:07:34 > 0:07:36# I am a square. #

0:07:36 > 0:07:40What's hiding in the squares?

0:07:48 > 0:07:49Can you guess?

0:07:55 > 0:07:58It's a butterfly! Well done, Square!

0:07:58 > 0:08:00Time to get back on the shelf.

0:08:00 > 0:08:06ALL: Whee! He-he-he! Ha-ha-ha!

0:08:06 > 0:08:09THEY GIGGLE

0:08:12 > 0:08:14Those shapes are fantastic!

0:08:14 > 0:08:17And they deserve a little sleep, don't they?

0:08:17 > 0:08:20Tocky, here! Minute-make time!

0:08:20 > 0:08:24Oh! Great! It's minute-make time! Come on!

0:08:25 > 0:08:30Here's what we're going to make today! Brilliant bugs on a stick!

0:08:30 > 0:08:33And for this you will need... a stick!

0:08:33 > 0:08:39And some pipe cleaners that have been cut into 18 small pieces.

0:08:39 > 0:08:43We'll also need some air-drying clay and some googly eyes.

0:08:43 > 0:08:46You can get these from an art and craft shop.

0:08:46 > 0:08:48I'll be back in a tick!

0:08:50 > 0:08:51CAR ENGINE REVS

0:08:53 > 0:08:57I've got them! Here they are! Let's have a look.

0:08:57 > 0:09:02We've got one large ball, one medium-sized ball

0:09:02 > 0:09:06and one small ball. We've also got six googly eyes,

0:09:06 > 0:09:10they're made up of two large googly eyes,

0:09:10 > 0:09:17two medium-sized ones and then two smaller ones.

0:09:17 > 0:09:20Great! Now, do you think it's possible to make this...

0:09:20 > 0:09:22in just one minute?

0:09:22 > 0:09:23No way!

0:09:23 > 0:09:26Really, Tocky? Well, I think I can do it,

0:09:26 > 0:09:29although I will have to be very quick.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32Don't worry, I'll remind you how to do it at the end!

0:09:32 > 0:09:37Are you ready? Great! Let's make it in a minute!

0:09:37 > 0:09:40Get your stick and then squidge on the balls of clay,

0:09:40 > 0:09:44large one at the front, middle-sized one in the middle,

0:09:44 > 0:09:48small one on the end. Then start putting in the legs.

0:09:48 > 0:09:52Six legs for each creature, three on each side.

0:09:52 > 0:09:57There we go! Get these in quickly as possible!

0:09:57 > 0:10:00There we go! In you go, brilliant!

0:10:00 > 0:10:04Three for this one, squidge it down more.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09Now the other side, here we go.

0:10:13 > 0:10:14Three legs here.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16Faster, faster!

0:10:16 > 0:10:19I'm going as quick as I can, Tocky!

0:10:23 > 0:10:26There we go, and now to put on the eyes.

0:10:26 > 0:10:28Two big eyes for the big bug,

0:10:28 > 0:10:32two medium-sized eyes for the medium-sized bug

0:10:32 > 0:10:34and two small eyes for the small bug.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37- I've done it!- Only just!

0:10:37 > 0:10:41Phew! That was close, wasn't it? If you've got more than a minute

0:10:41 > 0:10:46you can paint your bugs on a stick and cover them in a layer of gloopy,

0:10:46 > 0:10:51PVA glue, to make them even stronger! In fact, you can decorate

0:10:51 > 0:10:56your bugs however you like! These bugs have been painted

0:10:56 > 0:10:59in different colours and covered in glitter! Oh, very sparkly!

0:10:59 > 0:11:04Bugs on sticks, made in a minute! Why don't you try it?

0:11:04 > 0:11:06Here's a reminder of how to do it!

0:11:06 > 0:11:10Let's go back to the beginning and take another look!

0:11:10 > 0:11:14Push three different size balls of clay onto a stick...

0:11:16 > 0:11:21..then push short bits of pipe cleaner into the clay for the legs.

0:11:21 > 0:11:25Finally, stick on googly eyes to finish your bugs on a stick!

0:11:26 > 0:11:30Why don't you try and make it, in a minute? Ha-ha!

0:11:30 > 0:11:36CHILDREN: Hey, Mister Maker, guess what we're making today!

0:11:36 > 0:11:38I don't know! Show us!

0:11:43 > 0:11:45I'm dark blue!

0:11:50 > 0:11:51I am red!

0:11:57 > 0:11:59I am grey!

0:12:01 > 0:12:02I am green!

0:12:06 > 0:12:07I am orange!

0:12:09 > 0:12:11I am brown!

0:12:13 > 0:12:14I am black!

0:12:17 > 0:12:18I'm light blue!

0:12:24 > 0:12:26CHILDREN: It's a canal boat!

0:12:26 > 0:12:29Well done, everyone! See you soon!

0:12:29 > 0:12:31Now it's time to...frame it!

0:12:33 > 0:12:34Frame it!

0:12:36 > 0:12:37Frame it!

0:12:38 > 0:12:41Now take a look at this.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44This seaside picture is made from old things

0:12:44 > 0:12:48you can find in your kitchen. It's fun to do and looks so good

0:12:48 > 0:12:50you'll be able to frame it!

0:12:50 > 0:12:55You'll need some thick card, glue, scissors, kitchen roll,

0:12:55 > 0:13:01kitchen scourers, a dish cloth, blue rubber gloves and a duster.

0:13:01 > 0:13:07First glue a dish cloth to the top half of a piece of card like this.

0:13:07 > 0:13:11Then glue a duster to the bottom half.

0:13:13 > 0:13:17Carefully cut off the extra material round the edges

0:13:17 > 0:13:21and glue on the rubber gloves to make the scene.

0:13:23 > 0:13:27Tear small pieces of kitchen roll, these are going to be the waves.

0:13:30 > 0:13:34Glue them on to your rubber gloves to make your scene look frothy!

0:13:34 > 0:13:39Now carefully cut shapes from scouring pads to make a sun,

0:13:39 > 0:13:42a boat

0:13:42 > 0:13:48and a bucket and spade! Then stick everything down with gloopy glue.

0:13:48 > 0:13:51It's a wonderful seaside scene!

0:13:51 > 0:13:55What a brilliant picture! Why don't you have a go?

0:13:55 > 0:13:58And then...frame it!

0:13:58 > 0:14:00GULLS CRY

0:14:00 > 0:14:04Isn't that a great idea? Now what shall we look at next?

0:14:04 > 0:14:07I'm just reading in this book

0:14:07 > 0:14:12all about different animals in the world. If you could be an animal,

0:14:12 > 0:14:17or a different type of creature, what would you be? Hmm!

0:14:20 > 0:14:24I think I'd be a brilliant bird, flying through the clouds,

0:14:24 > 0:14:29but there's only one problem with that... I can't fly!

0:14:31 > 0:14:32Whoa!

0:14:32 > 0:14:38Oh, no, I don't think that I'd make a very good bird after all,

0:14:38 > 0:14:41although it does give me a great idea!

0:14:41 > 0:14:43Let's make something!

0:14:43 > 0:14:48Why not make your own brilliant bird's nest out of string?

0:14:48 > 0:14:53Let's make it! We'll need some things from the Doodle Drawers.

0:14:53 > 0:14:57Some string and an old plastic bowl.

0:14:59 > 0:15:01Some paints...

0:15:02 > 0:15:04..some pompoms...

0:15:06 > 0:15:11..some PVA gloopy glue and some shredded tissue paper...

0:15:14 > 0:15:17..orange card, white stickers and a pen.

0:15:17 > 0:15:23Ho-ho! Now to make a brilliant, brightly-coloured bird's nest,

0:15:23 > 0:15:26like this one here. You first have to start off

0:15:26 > 0:15:27with three bowls.

0:15:29 > 0:15:33There's one, two and three. Now in these three bowls

0:15:33 > 0:15:38we're going to put a large bundle of string in each one.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41Now we need to add our paint.

0:15:41 > 0:15:44You can choose what ever colours you like

0:15:44 > 0:15:47but I'm going to choose green, red and yellow.

0:15:47 > 0:15:51Let's put some green in the first bowl, now the red

0:15:51 > 0:15:53and the yellow in the third bowl.

0:15:53 > 0:15:58And now into each bowl we're going to add a dollop of gloopy glue!

0:15:59 > 0:16:02Now let's give them all a mix!

0:16:05 > 0:16:07We'll move our bowls over to here,

0:16:07 > 0:16:12and then we're going to bring in an old plastic bowl, like this.

0:16:12 > 0:16:17Now make sure you check with an adult first that it's OK to use it,

0:16:17 > 0:16:22then turn it upside down on a tray, like this.

0:16:22 > 0:16:28Then we're going to cover the whole bowl in special gloopy string!

0:16:28 > 0:16:31Let's start with the green string.

0:16:31 > 0:16:36Now we can add the red and the yellow, but it's a good idea,

0:16:36 > 0:16:41because I've got such mucky fingers, to wipe your hands first!

0:16:45 > 0:16:49Make sure you cover the bowl in layers of different colour string...

0:16:50 > 0:16:55..like this! Then you can leave it to dry overnight.

0:16:55 > 0:16:56Goodnight!

0:16:59 > 0:17:00COCKEREL CROWS

0:17:03 > 0:17:08Morning! Ha-ha! When it's all dry, you can very carefully

0:17:08 > 0:17:10push the bowl out, there we are,

0:17:10 > 0:17:16and you're left with a lovely nest!

0:17:16 > 0:17:21Ho-ho! All that's missing now is a bird. Hmm!

0:17:21 > 0:17:27Here it is! And to make a bird, you need two pompoms.

0:17:27 > 0:17:32Now it looks good if you use one large one and one small one.

0:17:32 > 0:17:37We're going to glue those together, there we go.

0:17:37 > 0:17:42Now we can add some eyes to our bird by using white stickers.

0:17:42 > 0:17:46Add black dots, with a pen, for pupils and stick them on.

0:17:48 > 0:17:53All that's missing now is the bird's beak. So for that we need

0:17:53 > 0:17:58a piece of orange card. And we're going to cut out a triangle-shape.

0:17:58 > 0:18:01Be careful, though, cos scissors are sharp.

0:18:05 > 0:18:07And then stick it on to your bird.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15Now you can put your bird into its new home.

0:18:15 > 0:18:20So let's bring our nest back in, and make it nice and comfortable

0:18:20 > 0:18:23by adding some lovely soft, shredded tissue paper,

0:18:23 > 0:18:27and then the bird can sit in the middle!

0:18:27 > 0:18:32Lovely! A beautiful bird in its brilliant new home.

0:18:32 > 0:18:35And you can also try some other ideas.

0:18:35 > 0:18:38How about a glittery bird's nest?

0:18:38 > 0:18:42Made by sprinkling glitter on your gloopy string.

0:18:42 > 0:18:47Or even a really big bird's nest with lots of birds in it.

0:18:47 > 0:18:48Oh, great!

0:18:48 > 0:18:49Time to go!

0:18:49 > 0:18:54That means my making time's over, but yours is just beginning.

0:18:54 > 0:18:59See you soon. It's time to put all this stuff back in its box!

0:19:00 > 0:19:04If you like making things like Mister Maker, visit...

0:19:07 > 0:19:10..for more ideas!
