0:00:38 > 0:00:39# Make it Mister Maker! #

0:00:43 > 0:00:47Oof! Hello there! Great to see you again.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51Please excuse me still getting ready. I'm running late today.

0:00:51 > 0:00:56But there, just in time, I'm ready to make some amazing art with you!

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Whoa! Wait a minute!

0:00:58 > 0:01:02In all the rush getting ready, I forgot to brush my teeth!

0:01:02 > 0:01:06I'll just pop upstairs and get my toothbrush. Won't be long.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12That's better.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Oooh! My toothbrush!

0:01:15 > 0:01:19It's given me a great idea!

0:01:19 > 0:01:21Let's try something!

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Try splattering paint with a toothbrush

0:01:24 > 0:01:27and making this splatter stencil picture!

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Let's make it! As well as an old toothbrush,

0:01:30 > 0:01:34we'll need some other things from the Doodle Drawers!

0:01:36 > 0:01:40Some card and a pair of scissors.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Some paint and a pencil.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52A piece of cardboard and some water!

0:01:52 > 0:01:53Whoa!

0:01:53 > 0:01:57Now, to make a splatter stencil picture,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59like this one here,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02it's a good idea to put down some paper

0:02:02 > 0:02:05and put on some old clothes or an apron.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06Whoo!

0:02:06 > 0:02:11Let's start by folding a piece of card in half.

0:02:12 > 0:02:17And now we're going to draw half of a shape along the folded edge.

0:02:17 > 0:02:21Draw half a diamond shape, which is a triangle.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Let's do another one, leave that over there

0:02:24 > 0:02:26and fold another piece of card.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29Let's draw another half shape.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32How about half a square shape, which is a rectangle?

0:02:34 > 0:02:37There we go. One more, I think.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40Another piece of card.

0:02:40 > 0:02:45This time I'm going to draw a zig-zag shape.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Draw half of it, like this.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52Now, keep your card folded and cut out your shapes.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56But remember to start cutting at the folded edge.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00Be careful, though, because scissors are sharp!

0:03:00 > 0:03:02SCISSORS GROWL

0:03:04 > 0:03:06When you unfold your cards,

0:03:06 > 0:03:11you will now have diamond shapes, square shapes and zig-zag shapes.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14These will become our stencils.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17Now, a stencil is a really special shape

0:03:17 > 0:03:20that you can paint through

0:03:20 > 0:03:23and also paint around.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26Make as many stencil shapes as you want to,

0:03:26 > 0:03:29but remember to keep both parts that you cut out.

0:03:29 > 0:03:34Now we need to make a special watery painty mixture

0:03:34 > 0:03:37that's made up of half water...

0:03:37 > 0:03:41..and half paint!

0:03:41 > 0:03:45Woo-hoo! And now, give it a stir!

0:03:45 > 0:03:49Make as many different colours of painty mixture as you like.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54Now, let's get a large piece of paper -

0:03:54 > 0:03:57there we go.

0:03:57 > 0:03:59And lay down one of our stencils.

0:03:59 > 0:04:04Let's go for the diamond first, I think. Here's the fun part.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07We're going to get an old toothbrush

0:04:07 > 0:04:09and dip it into the painty mixture

0:04:09 > 0:04:12and then flick paint all over the stencil

0:04:12 > 0:04:15using a piece of cardboard like this.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18Flick the paint by moving the brush away from you

0:04:18 > 0:04:20across the edge of the cardboard.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23Remember to move the brush away from you

0:04:23 > 0:04:26or you'll get covered in paint!

0:04:28 > 0:04:30There we go.

0:04:30 > 0:04:34Now if we carefully lift off the stencil...

0:04:34 > 0:04:38we've got a diamond shape where the paint has splattered.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41Rinse off your toothbrush,

0:04:41 > 0:04:46and now let's try a different colour with a different stencil.

0:04:46 > 0:04:50Let's use the zig-zag shape with green paint.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54Make sure you use a clean piece of cardboard when you change colour.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58Brilliant! Let's do another one.

0:04:58 > 0:05:03This time, let's flick paint around the outside of one of our shapes,

0:05:03 > 0:05:06like this square.

0:05:10 > 0:05:12Let's have a look. Again, carefully

0:05:12 > 0:05:18take off the stencil - wow! What a brilliant square shape!

0:05:18 > 0:05:20Try using lots of colours

0:05:20 > 0:05:25and as many stencils as you can fit on the page! This is great fun!

0:05:31 > 0:05:35And there it is - your very own splatter stencil picture.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38It looks fantastic. But don't just stop there!

0:05:38 > 0:05:42Use as many different colours and stencils as you want.

0:05:42 > 0:05:46This one has brightly coloured paint on a blue background.

0:05:47 > 0:05:51And this card's made with star-shaped stencils.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55Fantastic splatter stencil pictures

0:05:55 > 0:06:00made by flicking paint off your old trusty toothbrush!

0:06:00 > 0:06:04Oh! Sorry about that! Hang on.

0:06:05 > 0:06:08There we go. Much better.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10- SNORING - Ooh, what's that noise?

0:06:10 > 0:06:13It's coming from the shelves! Come on!

0:06:14 > 0:06:18It's The Shapes! They're asleep again.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20Let's wake them up!

0:06:28 > 0:06:32Ohh! Hey! Ha! Yeah!

0:06:40 > 0:06:43- # I am a shape! - La la la la

0:06:45 > 0:06:47- # I am a shape! - La la la la

0:06:49 > 0:06:51# I am a circle!

0:06:54 > 0:06:57# I am a triangle!

0:06:59 > 0:07:02# I am a square!

0:07:04 > 0:07:07# I am a rectangle!

0:07:09 > 0:07:11# I am a shape!

0:07:12 > 0:07:15# I am a circle. #

0:07:16 > 0:07:19What's hiding in the circles?

0:07:21 > 0:07:23Can you guess?

0:07:33 > 0:07:36It's a monkey!

0:07:36 > 0:07:39Well done, Circle. Time to get back on the shelf!

0:07:39 > 0:07:43Whee!

0:07:43 > 0:07:45Ooh!

0:07:51 > 0:07:54Ho-ho! Aren't those Shapes brilliant?!

0:07:54 > 0:07:59- SPROING! - Tocky here! Minute Make time!

0:07:59 > 0:08:01Ho-ho! It's Minute Make time!

0:08:04 > 0:08:06Here's what we're going to make!

0:08:06 > 0:08:11It's a great game that looks like an ice-cream cone!

0:08:11 > 0:08:16Let's give it a go! The idea is that you catch the ice-cream...

0:08:16 > 0:08:18in the cone! Wa-hey!

0:08:18 > 0:08:21And now, to make this, you will need...

0:08:21 > 0:08:23a pair of scissors,

0:08:23 > 0:08:27a brush, some gloopy PVA glue,

0:08:27 > 0:08:30some sticky tape, a sponge ball,

0:08:30 > 0:08:33a circle and a square of tissue paper,

0:08:33 > 0:08:37and half a circle shape of paper or card.

0:08:37 > 0:08:40Oh, and not forgetting, a little bit of wool.

0:08:40 > 0:08:44Do you think it's possible to make this in just one minute?!

0:08:44 > 0:08:48- No way! - Well, I think I can do it, Tocky.

0:08:48 > 0:08:50I will have to be very quick though.

0:08:50 > 0:08:54But don't worry - I'll remind you how to do it later.

0:08:54 > 0:08:56Let's make it in a minute!

0:08:56 > 0:08:59Get our half circle of brown paper or card,

0:08:59 > 0:09:02and make it into a cone shape like that.

0:09:02 > 0:09:06I'm going to stick it with some sticky tape.

0:09:06 > 0:09:09There's the cone. Now, the sponge ball,

0:09:09 > 0:09:11and the circle of tissue paper.

0:09:11 > 0:09:14I'm going to trim round the edges here

0:09:14 > 0:09:18to make it into a droopy, drippy looking sauce.

0:09:18 > 0:09:22- There we go. - Be careful!

0:09:22 > 0:09:26I'm being careful, don't you worry! There we go.

0:09:26 > 0:09:29Let's get some gloopy glue on our ball now.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32There we go, on the top there.

0:09:32 > 0:09:33Put plenty on.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35And then stick our sauce on the top.

0:09:35 > 0:09:40There we go. Then, let's scrunch up the red piece of tissue paper...

0:09:40 > 0:09:43That's going to be a cherry on the top.

0:09:43 > 0:09:45There we go, there's the cherry.

0:09:45 > 0:09:48- And then let's get the wool... - TIMER PINGS

0:09:48 > 0:09:51Stick that inside the cone, like that.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53Stick the wool to the ball,

0:09:53 > 0:09:57- And then you're ready... - TIMER BUZZES

0:09:57 > 0:10:00- ..To play! Ha-ha! - That was close!

0:10:00 > 0:10:05Yes, that was close. But it makes a game that looks good enough to eat!

0:10:05 > 0:10:07Can I eat it?

0:10:07 > 0:10:10No you can't, Tocky! This isn't for eating.

0:10:10 > 0:10:14It's for playing with. So let's have a game - here we go...

0:10:14 > 0:10:16Ho-ho! I did it!

0:10:16 > 0:10:20If you've got more than a minute, you could try some other ideas.

0:10:20 > 0:10:26Oooh! How about a mint ice-cream with painted chocolate drops

0:10:26 > 0:10:28and a pom-pom chocolate on top?

0:10:28 > 0:10:32Oooh! Or, you could even make it into a flower,

0:10:32 > 0:10:35by adding some paper petals around the cone.

0:10:35 > 0:10:38Fantastic games made in a minute!

0:10:38 > 0:10:42Why don't you try it? Here is a reminder of how to do it!

0:10:42 > 0:10:46'Let's go back to the beginning, and take another look.'

0:10:46 > 0:10:51Roll half a circle of brown paper or card into a cone shape,

0:10:51 > 0:10:53and stick it together.

0:10:53 > 0:10:58Trim the pink tissue-paper circle into a wobbly sauce shape,

0:10:58 > 0:11:00and then glue it on to the sponge ball.

0:11:00 > 0:11:05Scrunch up the red tissue paper, and glue it on top for the cherry.

0:11:05 > 0:11:09Tape one end of the wool to the cone and the other to the ball.

0:11:09 > 0:11:12And your ice-cream cone game is finished!

0:11:14 > 0:11:17Why don't you try and make it... in a minute?

0:11:17 > 0:11:23ALL: Hello, Mr Maker! Guess what we're making today!

0:11:23 > 0:11:25Oooh. I don't know!

0:11:25 > 0:11:27Why don't you show us?

0:11:32 > 0:11:33I am pink.

0:11:37 > 0:11:39I am peach.

0:11:47 > 0:11:49I am brown!

0:11:59 > 0:12:00I am red!

0:12:05 > 0:12:08ALL: It's a teddy bear!

0:12:08 > 0:12:10Well done, everyone! See you soon.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13Now, it's time to...Frame It!

0:12:13 > 0:12:15Frame It!

0:12:17 > 0:12:18Frame It!

0:12:18 > 0:12:21Now, take a look at this...

0:12:23 > 0:12:27This layered boat picture really stands out.

0:12:27 > 0:12:31It's fun to do, and looks so good you'll be able to frame it!

0:12:31 > 0:12:35You will need coloured card and cardboard squares.

0:12:35 > 0:12:37A pen, some scissors and a glue stick.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40Start by drawing the bottom of your boat.

0:12:40 > 0:12:45It looks good if you use different colours for different parts.

0:12:45 > 0:12:47Draw circles...

0:12:49 > 0:12:50..rectangles...

0:12:50 > 0:12:53and squares to make each of the parts.

0:12:53 > 0:12:55Then carefully cut them out.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00Stick them together to make your boat,

0:13:00 > 0:13:01like this.

0:13:03 > 0:13:05Now, let's make the waves.

0:13:05 > 0:13:08Draw the first wave on light blue card.

0:13:12 > 0:13:16Then draw the second, slightly bigger wave on medium blue card.

0:13:20 > 0:13:25And lastly, draw a third even bigger wave on dark blue card.

0:13:27 > 0:13:30Carefully cut out all of your wave shapes.

0:13:31 > 0:13:36Use cardboard squares to make the different layers stand out.

0:13:36 > 0:13:39The more you want your picture to stand out,

0:13:39 > 0:13:42the more cardboard squares you should use.

0:13:42 > 0:13:46Stick them to the back of your boat, and do the same along the waves.

0:13:48 > 0:13:52Now, use another piece of card for your background,

0:13:52 > 0:13:56and stick on your dark blue waves by lining up the corners.

0:13:58 > 0:14:02Then, stick the medium-blue waves on top, in the same way.

0:14:04 > 0:14:07And finally, do the same with the light-blue waves.

0:14:09 > 0:14:13Last of all, tuck your boat under the dark-blue waves

0:14:13 > 0:14:16and stick it into place - just like this!

0:14:17 > 0:14:21Look! The layers really help your picture stand out.

0:14:22 > 0:14:24What a brilliant picture!

0:14:24 > 0:14:27Why don't you have a go? And then...

0:14:27 > 0:14:28Frame It!

0:14:29 > 0:14:31Isn't that great?

0:14:33 > 0:14:35Now...what's going on here?

0:14:35 > 0:14:37# La-la-laaa... #

0:14:37 > 0:14:41Ah! I'm just giving my shelves a bit of a dusting -

0:14:41 > 0:14:45it's always good to keep things neat and tidy.

0:14:45 > 0:14:47It's hard work though.

0:14:47 > 0:14:49Ahhh - that's better.

0:14:49 > 0:14:51HE CHUCKLES

0:14:51 > 0:14:53RUMBLING

0:14:53 > 0:14:54Ooh! Hey...?

0:14:54 > 0:14:57Ooh! Oh, no!

0:14:57 > 0:15:00It sounds like something's coming this way!

0:15:00 > 0:15:02RUMBLING CONTINUES

0:15:03 > 0:15:05Hello.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08Oh, it's you, Dennis!

0:15:08 > 0:15:10Look at all the mess you've made!

0:15:10 > 0:15:14- Sorry.- Well, luckily I saved all this stuff from the shelves.

0:15:14 > 0:15:17There's my precious antique vase,

0:15:17 > 0:15:22my photo frame and I stopped these eggs from wobbling off the shelf.

0:15:22 > 0:15:24Ooh - wait a minute...

0:15:24 > 0:15:27Wobbly eggs? That gives me an idea!

0:15:27 > 0:15:28DING!

0:15:28 > 0:15:30Let's make something!

0:15:30 > 0:15:34Make a wonderful, wobbly egg that will wobble, but never fall over!

0:15:34 > 0:15:39Let's make it! We'll need some things from the Doodle Drawers!

0:15:42 > 0:15:44Tissue paper and a black felt-tip pen.

0:15:46 > 0:15:49Some coloured paint.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54Some modelling clay.

0:15:55 > 0:15:58And some gloopy PVA glue!

0:16:00 > 0:16:05Now, we also need some googly eyes, which you can get from

0:16:05 > 0:16:09an art-and-craft shop, and a plastic egg, which you can get

0:16:09 > 0:16:12from a toy shop, or a supermarket. I'll be back soon.

0:16:16 > 0:16:18I've got them!

0:16:20 > 0:16:22Here they are.

0:16:22 > 0:16:24Our wobbly, plastic egg,

0:16:24 > 0:16:28and our googly eyes.

0:16:28 > 0:16:31Now, to make your very own wobbly egg,

0:16:31 > 0:16:33like this one here...

0:16:35 > 0:16:39..You need to start off with a plastic egg, like this,

0:16:39 > 0:16:42that splits into two halves.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44Now, when you've opened your egg up,

0:16:44 > 0:16:47you need to get a ball of modelling clay,

0:16:47 > 0:16:50and just push it into the bottom half of the egg,

0:16:50 > 0:16:52and squish it down.

0:16:52 > 0:16:56There we go. Then, if we put on the top of the egg...

0:16:56 > 0:16:58it should wobble!

0:16:58 > 0:17:00There it is!

0:17:00 > 0:17:05Now, we need to cover the whole egg in a layer of tissue paper.

0:17:05 > 0:17:09To do that, we need to tear up lots of little pieces of...

0:17:09 > 0:17:11you guessed it - tissue paper!

0:17:15 > 0:17:18There. Now we've got our pieces of tissue paper,

0:17:18 > 0:17:22we can stick them onto our egg by using lots of gloopy glue.

0:17:24 > 0:17:28Now, make sure that you cover the whole egg.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34When the glue is dry,

0:17:34 > 0:17:38you can decorate your egg however you like - with spots,

0:17:38 > 0:17:40or stars, or stripes.

0:17:40 > 0:17:44Hmmm. I think I'm going to paint on some spots.

0:17:45 > 0:17:48Decorate your egg and leave it to dry.

0:17:50 > 0:17:54Look! It's got lots of spots and a white mouth.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56Now, we can glue on some googly eyes.

0:18:04 > 0:18:06It's looking good already...

0:18:06 > 0:18:10but now, we can add some extra detail to the mouth,

0:18:10 > 0:18:11with a black pen.
