0:00:36 > 0:00:38# Make it, Mister Maker

0:00:38 > 0:00:39# Make it, Mister Maker! #

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Hello there! Great to see you again.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49I'm having a tidy up.

0:00:49 > 0:00:53I always pride myself on having a lovely, neat and tidy home.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55AEROPLANE ENGINE ROARS

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Ooh! My tissue paper!

0:00:58 > 0:01:02What was it that made that noise that made me jump?

0:01:02 > 0:01:06Oh, look! It's an amazing aeroplane!

0:01:06 > 0:01:12Wait a minute - amazing aeroplanes and terrific tissue paper?

0:01:12 > 0:01:16That gives me a great idea.

0:01:16 > 0:01:17Let's try something!

0:01:18 > 0:01:21Try making a perfect parachute mobile,

0:01:21 > 0:01:24where you can be the skydiver.

0:01:24 > 0:01:25Let's make it!

0:01:25 > 0:01:29We'll need some things from the doodle drawers, come on!

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Some coloured paper and a black pen.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41A ball of modelling clay, a sharp pencil,

0:01:41 > 0:01:45and a paper or polystyrene bowl.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50Some sticky tape and some glue.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56Some wool and some tissue paper.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00And finally, a picture of yourself!

0:02:00 > 0:02:03Whoa!

0:02:03 > 0:02:07Now, to make your very own parachute mobile,

0:02:07 > 0:02:12complete with your own skydiver, like this handsome chap here,

0:02:12 > 0:02:15we have to start off by drawing a body shape

0:02:15 > 0:02:18on some coloured paper or card.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20First, draw a head-shape,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23this one's going to have pointy hair, like mine.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Then draw two arms sticking up in the air,

0:02:26 > 0:02:30and two legs with boots on the end.

0:02:36 > 0:02:41Now we can cut this body-shape out, but be careful, scissors are sharp.

0:02:50 > 0:02:55Then stick on thin strips of coloured paper, like this,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57onto the body-shape.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01These are going to be the straps on the skydiver's suit.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Stick them all on and trim off the extra bits.

0:03:04 > 0:03:08Now you're ready to turn your skydiver into anyone you want.

0:03:08 > 0:03:13Very carefully, cut just the head part off a photograph

0:03:13 > 0:03:18and stick it on top of your body, on the head-shape here.

0:03:22 > 0:03:23Now for the parachute!

0:03:23 > 0:03:29For that, we need to make a hole in the centre of our bowl, about here.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32For that we're going to use a ball of modelling clay

0:03:32 > 0:03:34and a sharp pencil.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38Put the modelling clay down first, put the bowl on top,

0:03:38 > 0:03:42and then, very carefully, push our pencil through the bowl,

0:03:42 > 0:03:45into the clay, that makes a hole. Excellent!

0:03:45 > 0:03:48We need to make another four holes now.

0:03:48 > 0:03:54I'm gonna make one here, here, here, and here.

0:04:02 > 0:04:07Take four pieces of wool, these need to be the same length, there we go,

0:04:07 > 0:04:11and we're going to tie a big knot at the end of each piece.

0:04:13 > 0:04:17Now we need to carefully thread these pieces of wool

0:04:17 > 0:04:20through the holes at the edge of the bowl,

0:04:20 > 0:04:24so the pieces hang underneath, like this.

0:04:24 > 0:04:31This is a little tricky, so you can always ask an adult to help you.

0:04:33 > 0:04:37When you've threaded the wool through the holes in the edges,

0:04:37 > 0:04:39tie a knot in along the piece of wool

0:04:39 > 0:04:43to go through the hole in the centre of the bowl.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46But this time, thread it the other way, like this,

0:04:46 > 0:04:50so that this piece of wool can hold up your bowl.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54Now we need to cover the bowl with a piece of tissue paper.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57Any colour will do, but I think green will look good.

0:04:57 > 0:05:01Before we cover it, we need to make another hole in the middle.

0:05:01 > 0:05:05So, let's get our modelling clay,

0:05:05 > 0:05:10and gently push the pencil through. There we go, there's our hole.

0:05:10 > 0:05:13This will help us thread our wool through.

0:05:15 > 0:05:16Great.

0:05:16 > 0:05:20Make sure the wool pieces on the edges are pulled out,

0:05:20 > 0:05:23then we can wrap the tissue paper round

0:05:23 > 0:05:26and stick it into position with sticky tape.

0:05:28 > 0:05:32Next, we need to attach our skydiver to the parachute.

0:05:32 > 0:05:36So, take two bits of wool from one side of the bowl

0:05:36 > 0:05:38to the back of the nearest hand,

0:05:38 > 0:05:41and do the same on the other side.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45And when it's finished, turn it over.

0:05:45 > 0:05:51And now, you can hang it up wherever you like.

0:05:54 > 0:05:58Brilliant! And why not try some other ideas?

0:05:58 > 0:06:04You can skydive in your favourite outfit, like this one!

0:06:05 > 0:06:08Or why not try a rocket, flying through space?

0:06:08 > 0:06:15Or even a skydiving elephant, using a bigger bowl for its parachute.

0:06:15 > 0:06:18And it gives me another fantastic idea!

0:06:18 > 0:06:21Are you ready? One, two, three!

0:06:22 > 0:06:24Wow!

0:06:24 > 0:06:26Ha-ha!

0:06:26 > 0:06:32This is great fun! But I'd better get back home!

0:06:32 > 0:06:37Oof! Hey! Who turned out the lights?

0:06:37 > 0:06:42Oh look, The shapes are asleep again.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44Let's wake them up!

0:06:44 > 0:06:46SHAPE SNORES

0:06:48 > 0:06:50Ah!

0:06:50 > 0:06:52Hey, hey, whoa!

0:06:52 > 0:06:56Oh! Hey! Ah! Oop!

0:07:04 > 0:07:05# I am a Shape

0:07:05 > 0:07:06# La-la-la-la

0:07:08 > 0:07:10# I am a Shape

0:07:10 > 0:07:11# La-la-la-la

0:07:13 > 0:07:15# I am a circle

0:07:18 > 0:07:20# I am a triangle

0:07:23 > 0:07:25# I am a square

0:07:28 > 0:07:30# I am a rectangle

0:07:33 > 0:07:35# I am a Shape! #

0:07:36 > 0:07:39I am a triangle.

0:07:41 > 0:07:43What are the triangles making today?

0:07:48 > 0:07:50Any ideas yet?

0:07:55 > 0:07:57It's a witch!

0:07:57 > 0:08:01Well done, Triangle! Time to get back on the shelf.

0:08:02 > 0:08:04Wheeeee!

0:08:04 > 0:08:06Ha-ha-ha! Oh-oh-oh!

0:08:14 > 0:08:19That was a great puzzle today, those Shapes are so clever, you know.

0:08:19 > 0:08:22Tocky, here! Minute-make time!

0:08:22 > 0:08:24It's minute-make time! Come on!

0:08:26 > 0:08:29Here's what we're going to make today.

0:08:29 > 0:08:33A bubble bag! Great for keeping all your bits and pieces inside.

0:08:33 > 0:08:38Very nice. And to make one of these, you will need...

0:08:38 > 0:08:40a pair of scissors,

0:08:40 > 0:08:41a glue stick,

0:08:41 > 0:08:44some circles of felt,

0:08:44 > 0:08:45a long shoelace,

0:08:45 > 0:08:48a large rectangle of felt,

0:08:48 > 0:08:51a hole-punch and a bubble envelope.

0:08:51 > 0:08:55Now, do you think it's possible to make this in just one minute?

0:08:55 > 0:08:56No way!

0:08:56 > 0:08:59Well, I think I can do it, Tocky!

0:08:59 > 0:09:02Although I will have to be very quick.

0:09:02 > 0:09:06Don't worry, though, I'll remind you how to do it at the end.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08Let's make it in a minute!

0:09:08 > 0:09:13Let's get our bubble envelope, and very carefully, with some scissors,

0:09:13 > 0:09:18trim off this top end like this. We go all the way down.

0:09:18 > 0:09:22And then we're going to get our hole-punch,

0:09:22 > 0:09:25and make holes at the open end, like that.

0:09:25 > 0:09:30Let's get our shoelace and feed it through the holes, like this.

0:09:30 > 0:09:35Then we're going to tie a knot on the other end, here we go.

0:09:35 > 0:09:38Let's tie a knot.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40You're KNOT going to do it!

0:09:40 > 0:09:44Very funny, Tocky, I get it, KNOT, yeah, very funny!

0:09:44 > 0:09:50There's our knot, OK, let's put some glue on here.

0:09:50 > 0:09:55And we're going to put on first of all our rectangle of felt,

0:09:55 > 0:09:57On it goes.

0:09:57 > 0:10:01And then we're gonna put our big circle on next.

0:10:01 > 0:10:04Then we put on our medium-sized circle

0:10:04 > 0:10:06Then we put on our small circle,

0:10:06 > 0:10:09And we are finished!

0:10:09 > 0:10:10ALARM BELL RINGS

0:10:10 > 0:10:12Only just!

0:10:12 > 0:10:14And if you've got more than a minute,

0:10:14 > 0:10:17you can make all sorts of bubble bags!

0:10:17 > 0:10:21This one is made with felt stripes.

0:10:21 > 0:10:24And this one has a checked pattern.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27Bubble bags! Made in a minute.

0:10:27 > 0:10:28Why don't you try it?

0:10:28 > 0:10:31Here's a reminder of how to do it!

0:10:31 > 0:10:34Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.

0:10:34 > 0:10:39First, take a bubble envelope and punch holes through the open end.

0:10:39 > 0:10:43Thread a long shoelace through the holes to make handles,

0:10:43 > 0:10:45and tie knots in the ends.

0:10:45 > 0:10:48Glue on a large sheet of felt,

0:10:48 > 0:10:51and decorate it with felt shapes,

0:10:51 > 0:10:53to finish your bubble bag.

0:10:55 > 0:10:59Why don't you try making it in a minute?

0:10:59 > 0:11:01We're here, Mister Maker!

0:11:01 > 0:11:03Oh, hello, everyone!

0:11:03 > 0:11:04Watch this!

0:11:11 > 0:11:14I am brown.

0:11:17 > 0:11:20I'm dark blue.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25I am green.

0:11:28 > 0:11:30I am red.

0:11:33 > 0:11:35I am grey.

0:11:37 > 0:11:39I'm yellow.

0:11:40 > 0:11:43I'm light blue

0:11:43 > 0:11:45I am black.

0:11:51 > 0:11:54It's a go-kart!

0:11:54 > 0:11:57Well done everyone, see you soon! Now it's time to...

0:11:57 > 0:12:00Frame it!

0:12:00 > 0:12:03Frame it!

0:12:03 > 0:12:05Frame it!

0:12:05 > 0:12:10Now, take a look at this.

0:12:10 > 0:12:12What a brilliant tissue paper snail.

0:12:12 > 0:12:17It's very easy to make, and looks so good, you'll be able to frame it.

0:12:17 > 0:12:19You will need coloured card,

0:12:19 > 0:12:21tissue paper,

0:12:21 > 0:12:22PVA gloopy glue,

0:12:22 > 0:12:24a pen, a paintbrush,

0:12:24 > 0:12:27scissors and some googly eyes.

0:12:27 > 0:12:30Use lots of different colours of tissue paper,

0:12:30 > 0:12:33and scrunch it into little balls.

0:12:33 > 0:12:38Then use a pen to draw a picture, this is going to be a snail.

0:12:38 > 0:12:44Cover the snail's body with gloopy glue.

0:12:44 > 0:12:49And stick tissue paper balls all over it.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54Cover the snail's shell with glue.

0:12:54 > 0:12:57Use different coloured tissue paper balls,

0:12:57 > 0:13:01and stick them around the shell in a spiral shape.

0:13:01 > 0:13:03Fill in the spaces on the rest of the shell

0:13:03 > 0:13:06in another colour of tissue paper.

0:13:06 > 0:13:09Cut out a mouth shape from some card,

0:13:09 > 0:13:11and stick it down.

0:13:11 > 0:13:17Finally, glue on two googly eyes to finish your snail.

0:13:17 > 0:13:21Doesn't that look fantastic?

0:13:21 > 0:13:26What a brilliant picture! Why don't you have a go? And then...

0:13:26 > 0:13:28Frame it!

0:13:28 > 0:13:35Very impressive! Now, what's going on here?

0:13:36 > 0:13:41I'm looking at the night sky through my telescope.

0:13:41 > 0:13:44There's the North Star,

0:13:44 > 0:13:47and there's the Plough.

0:13:47 > 0:13:50The night sky is so beautiful.

0:13:50 > 0:13:52I love it when the moon shines brightly

0:13:52 > 0:13:56and the stars twinkle down from up on high.

0:13:56 > 0:14:02Oh, look. Even wise old Mr Owl likes it too.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05And that gives me a great idea!

0:14:05 > 0:14:07Let's make something!

0:14:07 > 0:14:11Try making twinkling twigs and a pine-cone owl.

0:14:11 > 0:14:14Sparkly.

0:14:14 > 0:14:15Let's make it!

0:14:15 > 0:14:20We'll need some things from the doodle drawers! Come on!

0:14:22 > 0:14:25Some twigs and a pine-cone...

0:14:26 > 0:14:30..some glitter and a pencil...

0:14:32 > 0:14:37..gloopy PVA glue and a glue-stick...

0:14:38 > 0:14:43..some coloured paper and an old plastic lid.

0:14:43 > 0:14:49Whoa! Now, we also need some googly eyes and some air-drying clay.

0:14:49 > 0:14:54We can get these from an arts and crafts shop. Back in a tick!

0:14:56 > 0:14:58CAR ENGINE REVS

0:14:58 > 0:15:00I've got them!

0:15:00 > 0:15:05Here we are, there are two googly eyes.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08and here's the air-drying clay.

0:15:08 > 0:15:11Now you can make your very own twinkling twigs

0:15:11 > 0:15:15that's a perfect home for a woodland creature.

0:15:15 > 0:15:19Start off by moulding your air-drying clay

0:15:19 > 0:15:22into a plastic lid, like this.

0:15:22 > 0:15:27Squeeze it down, and push it all the way out to the edges.

0:15:27 > 0:15:28We're doing this

0:15:28 > 0:15:33because it's going to hold all of our twinkling twigs in place.

0:15:33 > 0:15:35Now we can start arranging our twigs.

0:15:35 > 0:15:38You can arrange them however you like,

0:15:38 > 0:15:42but how about we start with this nice big twig here,

0:15:42 > 0:15:45and push it into the clay at the front?

0:15:45 > 0:15:48Now we can start with some other twigs.

0:15:48 > 0:15:53How about we get this rather tall twig and push it in at the back?

0:15:53 > 0:15:57Now, you'll notice that some of my twigs have dried leaves on them.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00These look great, it really adds to the effect.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03Choose as many twigs as you like,

0:16:03 > 0:16:06push them into the clay and leave it to dry.

0:16:07 > 0:16:10Then, to make your twigs twinkle,

0:16:10 > 0:16:13stand your clay base on some old paper or...

0:16:13 > 0:16:15an old tray,

0:16:15 > 0:16:19and cover the whole thing in gloopy glue.

0:16:25 > 0:16:29And now for the fun bit, shake on some glitter.

0:16:30 > 0:16:33And once it's covered in glitter,

0:16:33 > 0:16:39shake any extra glitter off, and leave it to dry again.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42Once your twinkling twigs are dry,

0:16:42 > 0:16:48you can make a woodland creature to go in them, like this pine-cone owl.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51So, let's get some coloured paper,

0:16:51 > 0:16:55and draw a curvy shape, like this.

0:16:57 > 0:17:01Now, on some different-coloured paper,

0:17:01 > 0:17:04draw the same curvy shape, but a bit smaller.

0:17:06 > 0:17:10And last, but not least, get a piece of yellow paper, like this,

0:17:10 > 0:17:15and draw a triangle. This is gonna be the beak for our owl.

0:17:15 > 0:17:17Now we can cut all of our pieces out,

0:17:17 > 0:17:20but be careful, because scissors are sharp.

0:17:20 > 0:17:22Ooh! Ooh-ooh!

0:17:27 > 0:17:32Now, glue the pieces together to make the owl's eyes and beak.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34Like this!

0:17:34 > 0:17:38Then, as a finishing touch, let's add two googly eyes.

0:17:38 > 0:17:45There's one, and there's two. It's the face of our owl.

0:17:45 > 0:17:49We can stick it onto our pine-cone with some gloopy glue.

0:17:55 > 0:17:59Finally, glue your owl onto the big twig at the front

0:17:59 > 0:18:02using lots of gloopy glue.

0:18:02 > 0:18:07You might want to hold your owl in position as it starts to dry.

0:18:08 > 0:18:11And when everything is dry,

0:18:11 > 0:18:16gently take the clay out of the lid, like this!

0:18:16 > 0:18:19And there! Look at it!

0:18:19 > 0:18:21Isn't it sparkly?!

0:18:21 > 0:18:24And you can even try making other things twinkle

0:18:24 > 0:18:27amongst your twinkling twigs.
