0:00:25 > 0:00:27# Make it, Mister Maker!
0:00:31 > 0:00:33# Make it, Mister Maker!
0:00:36 > 0:00:38# Make it, Mister Maker! #
0:00:43 > 0:00:46Hello there! Great to see you again.
0:00:46 > 0:00:51What do you think of my cardboard building? It's great, isn't it?
0:00:51 > 0:00:56And it's made completely of old cardboard boxes.
0:00:56 > 0:00:59It can be anything I want it to be!
0:00:59 > 0:01:06Hello there. I am King Maker and this is my cardboard castle.
0:01:08 > 0:01:15You can make boxes into anything if you use a little imagination.
0:01:15 > 0:01:21In fact, that's given me a great idea! Let's try something.
0:01:21 > 0:01:27Try making a brilliant box street using boxes and empty packets.
0:01:27 > 0:01:31Let's make it! We need things from the doodle drawers!
0:01:33 > 0:01:36Empty boxes and packets.
0:01:38 > 0:01:42Some cardboard, some paper and some sticky tape.
0:01:44 > 0:01:46Some paint.
0:01:48 > 0:01:53A black felt tip pen, and tissue paper and some gloopy PVA glue.
0:01:53 > 0:01:55Gloopy!
0:01:55 > 0:01:57Whoa!
0:01:57 > 0:02:00Now look at this box street picture.
0:02:00 > 0:02:04It looks great, doesn't it?
0:02:04 > 0:02:08You need to arrange your empty packets and cardboard boxes
0:02:08 > 0:02:11onto your cardboard.
0:02:11 > 0:02:15Line them up in whatever order you like,
0:02:15 > 0:02:20but it's a good idea to put a small box next to a bigger one.
0:02:20 > 0:02:27You can add a pointy roof, maybe on top of one of your tall buildings.
0:02:27 > 0:02:32And for that we need to cut out a circle.
0:02:32 > 0:02:35A good way is to draw round a bowl.
0:02:35 > 0:02:39There we are - a perfect circle.
0:02:39 > 0:02:44Now we need to cut this out, but be careful - scissors are sharp.
0:02:50 > 0:02:53There, a circle!
0:02:53 > 0:02:58Now we need to make a snip along here, up to the middle
0:02:58 > 0:03:03of our circle to help us bend it into a cone shape.
0:03:06 > 0:03:10Let's stick it together with sticky tape.
0:03:10 > 0:03:14Ask an adult to help you.
0:03:14 > 0:03:17There, a lovely cone.
0:03:17 > 0:03:23And we can use this as a nice roof on top of one of our buildings.
0:03:23 > 0:03:28When you're happy with everything, stick it all down with gloopy glue.
0:03:35 > 0:03:40Then cover the boxes and the background with a layer of glue
0:03:40 > 0:03:43and torn-up pieces of tissue paper.
0:03:50 > 0:03:55When it's dry, you're ready to paint your box buildings.
0:03:55 > 0:03:58Choose whatever colours you like,
0:03:58 > 0:04:02but it looks good if the buildings are painted different colours.
0:04:02 > 0:04:04Paint the sky too.
0:04:06 > 0:04:12When it's all dry, it'll look something like this.
0:04:12 > 0:04:15You can even paint a sun in the sky!
0:04:15 > 0:04:21Now, let's add extra detail by painting on windows and doors.
0:04:26 > 0:04:31Then add some details with a black pen.
0:04:31 > 0:04:32Ha-ha!
0:04:36 > 0:04:40When it's finished, it looks like this!
0:04:40 > 0:04:45What a great effect! You can turn your boxes into ANYTHING.
0:04:45 > 0:04:46It's up to you.
0:04:46 > 0:04:52How about doing a night-time box street with the moon and stars?
0:04:52 > 0:04:59Or how about this really big one? A street with big boxes and tubes.
0:04:59 > 0:05:04What a great effect! Let's take a closer look.
0:05:04 > 0:05:08Cardboard boxes are great and really useful,
0:05:08 > 0:05:14and you can make your picture as big or as small as you like!
0:05:14 > 0:05:17Oooh! That was fun.
0:05:17 > 0:05:18Oooh!
0:05:18 > 0:05:23There's snoring noise coming from the shelves - we know who that is!
0:05:23 > 0:05:29It's the Shapes and do you know what? They're always asleep.
0:05:29 > 0:05:31Let's wake them up!
0:05:40 > 0:05:44ALL: Oh, yeah!
0:05:50 > 0:05:53# I am a Shape!
0:05:56 > 0:05:59# I am a Shape! #
0:06:01 > 0:06:03I am a circle.
0:06:05 > 0:06:08I am a triangle.
0:06:11 > 0:06:12I am a square!
0:06:16 > 0:06:18I am a rectangle.
0:06:20 > 0:06:23# I am a Shape! #
0:06:24 > 0:06:26I am a triangle.
0:06:27 > 0:06:32Can you guess what's hiding in the triangles?
0:06:34 > 0:06:37Any ideas yet?
0:06:39 > 0:06:42It's a pelican!
0:06:42 > 0:06:46Well done, triangle. It's time to get back on the shelf.
0:06:49 > 0:06:51Whoo!
0:06:51 > 0:06:53Hoo!
0:06:53 > 0:06:55Oh, dear, oh.
0:06:58 > 0:07:03I knew waking the Shapes up was a good idea. They're brilliant!
0:07:03 > 0:07:08- Tocky here! Minute make time! - Oh, great. It's minute make time!
0:07:11 > 0:07:17Here's what we're making today - it's an ugly rock.
0:07:17 > 0:07:21It's ugly but it looks GREAT, just like me!
0:07:21 > 0:07:27And to make an ugly rock, you will need a glue stick,
0:07:27 > 0:07:32a black pen, a pair of scissors, some white paper,
0:07:32 > 0:07:36a very small, fluffy pom-pom and a button.
0:07:36 > 0:07:41You also need a stone and some googly eyes from a crafts shop.
0:07:41 > 0:07:44Back in a tick!
0:07:46 > 0:07:50I've got them!
0:07:50 > 0:07:56Here they are - there's our stone and our two googly eyes.
0:07:56 > 0:08:01Is it possible to make THIS in just one minute?
0:08:01 > 0:08:02No way!
0:08:02 > 0:08:07I think I can do it although I will have to be very quick.
0:08:07 > 0:08:11I'll remind you how to do it at the end.
0:08:11 > 0:08:14Let's make it in a minute!
0:08:14 > 0:08:19Get your rock and glue on googly eyes like this.
0:08:19 > 0:08:21There's one eye.
0:08:21 > 0:08:25Now let's give him some funny hair
0:08:25 > 0:08:28with a pom-pom and plenty of glue.
0:08:28 > 0:08:31Then stick that on.
0:08:31 > 0:08:37Then a nose with a button. A bit more glue on the pom-pom.
0:08:37 > 0:08:39Go on, stick on.
0:08:39 > 0:08:43Let's make a drawing of a mouth, a funny one.
0:08:43 > 0:08:44Half way!
0:08:44 > 0:08:47There we go, like that.
0:08:47 > 0:08:52I'll cut this out very carefully with some scissors.
0:08:52 > 0:08:56There we go. Round there like that.
0:08:56 > 0:08:59Round and round we go.
0:08:59 > 0:09:04Don't forget scissors are sharp so you can take a bit longer.
0:09:04 > 0:09:07Now I need some glue and glue it on
0:09:07 > 0:09:10to the mouth of my ugly rock!
0:09:10 > 0:09:12I did it!
0:09:12 > 0:09:17- Only just! - With time to spare, actually.
0:09:17 > 0:09:22And if you've got more time, you can paint your ugly rock
0:09:22 > 0:09:25a bright colour like this green one.
0:09:25 > 0:09:30Or how about a yellow ugly rock with a square nose?
0:09:30 > 0:09:34Or a BLUE ugly rock with a bigger pom-pom for its hair?
0:09:34 > 0:09:40Or try making a bigger ugly rock with more eyes and painted spots.
0:09:40 > 0:09:45Ugly rocks made in a minute. They're ugly but beautiful!
0:09:45 > 0:09:51Why don't you make one? Here's a reminder of how to do it.
0:09:51 > 0:09:56Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.
0:09:56 > 0:09:59Glue the googly eyes to a stone.
0:09:59 > 0:10:04Stick on a pom-pom for hair and a button for a nose!
0:10:04 > 0:10:10Draw and cut out a funny mouth and stick it on to your stone!
0:10:12 > 0:10:16Why not try and make it in a minute!
0:10:16 > 0:10:19- Hello, Mr Mister Maker!- Hello.
0:10:19 > 0:10:23- Watch this!- What are they up to?
0:10:28 > 0:10:30I'm grey.
0:10:34 > 0:10:36I am red.
0:10:38 > 0:10:40I am orange.
0:10:46 > 0:10:47I'm light blue!
0:10:51 > 0:10:52I'm dark blue.
0:10:59 > 0:11:02ALL: It's a lifeboat!
0:11:02 > 0:11:05Well done, everybody. See you next time.
0:11:05 > 0:11:09Now it's time to Frame It!
0:11:09 > 0:11:11Frame It.
0:11:11 > 0:11:13Frame It!
0:11:14 > 0:11:17Now, take a look at this.
0:11:17 > 0:11:20What a fantastic sawdust picture.
0:11:20 > 0:11:27It's great fun and makes a picture so good you'll be able to frame it.
0:11:27 > 0:11:31You need coloured paper, wrapping paper, gloopy PVA glue,
0:11:31 > 0:11:34scissors, a thin black pen, a brush,
0:11:34 > 0:11:40googly eyes, buttons, and sawdust which you can buy from a pet shop.
0:11:40 > 0:11:45Draw the outline of a dog onto some coloured paper.
0:11:45 > 0:11:47Or draw any animal you like.
0:11:47 > 0:11:53Now cover it with gloopy glue and sprinkle sawdust all over it.
0:11:53 > 0:11:58Shake off any extra sawdust and sweep it up.
0:11:58 > 0:12:01Then carefully cut your sawdust dog out
0:12:01 > 0:12:06and stick it onto some colourful wrapping paper.
0:12:06 > 0:12:11Why not make a collar by sticking on a thin strip of wrapping paper?
0:12:11 > 0:12:17Stick on a button to finish it off and add another button for the nose.
0:12:17 > 0:12:20Then stick on two googly eyes
0:12:20 > 0:12:23to finish your super sawdust dog.
0:12:23 > 0:12:27What a brilliant picture! Why don't you have a go?
0:12:27 > 0:12:30And then...Frame It!
0:12:30 > 0:12:36Great! I like making pictures out of all sorts of things.
0:12:36 > 0:12:41So...let's make a picture out of jelly sweets.
0:12:53 > 0:12:56POPPING
0:12:56 > 0:12:59What are they going to make?
0:13:01 > 0:13:04It's a cooked breakfast!
0:13:04 > 0:13:07Yummy! Guess what's happening now.
0:13:07 > 0:13:13Do you know what day it is today? I'll tell you. It's NOT my birthday.
0:13:13 > 0:13:19And even though it's NOT my birthday, we should still celebrate.
0:13:19 > 0:13:20So...
0:13:20 > 0:13:23Da-dah!
0:13:23 > 0:13:29Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Look at this fantastic NOT my birthday cake!
0:13:29 > 0:13:34I tell you what though, it gives me a great idea.
0:13:34 > 0:13:36Let's make something!
0:13:36 > 0:13:42Make a delicious-looking cake that's totally fake.
0:13:42 > 0:13:45We'll need things from the doodle drawers!
0:13:47 > 0:13:52Two big pink sponges and some strips of tissue paper.
0:13:54 > 0:13:57Some gloopy PVA glue.
0:13:59 > 0:14:01Some paints and a big brush.
0:14:03 > 0:14:06A ruler and a pen!
0:14:06 > 0:14:11Now, to make a fantastic fake cake like this tasty one here,
0:14:11 > 0:14:16we need to start off with a piece of pink sponge like this.
0:14:16 > 0:14:22And using a pen and ruler, we're going to draw a tall triangle
0:14:22 > 0:14:25that looks like a piece of cheese.
0:14:25 > 0:14:30Now we're going to cut it out, but be careful - scissors are sharp.
0:14:33 > 0:14:36Now this is a little bit fiddly.
0:14:36 > 0:14:40You might want to ask an adult to help.
0:14:43 > 0:14:48Now draw around THIS sponge triangle
0:14:48 > 0:14:50onto another piece of sponge.
0:14:52 > 0:14:57Now we can cut this shape out as well, very carefully.
0:15:01 > 0:15:06Next we make the sticky, gooey fake cake filling.
0:15:06 > 0:15:09Paint on red paint first of all
0:15:09 > 0:15:13to one of the sponge triangles.
0:15:13 > 0:15:18We're just going to paint it along this edge here like this.
0:15:18 > 0:15:25Don't worry if the paint dribbles a bit - it all adds to the effect.
0:15:25 > 0:15:29Now do the same on the opposite edge.
0:15:29 > 0:15:32That's all the red done on that triangle.
0:15:32 > 0:15:37On the other triangle, we use a different colour -
0:15:37 > 0:15:40white paint for the creamy filling.
0:15:42 > 0:15:47Again, paint along two edges of your triangle like this.
0:15:47 > 0:15:50Once both sponges are painted,
0:15:50 > 0:15:55brush on some gloopy glue on top of the jammy triangle,
0:15:55 > 0:15:59and stick on the creamy triangle so that the white edge
0:15:59 > 0:16:01meets the red edge like a sandwich,
0:16:01 > 0:16:04and there we have a cake!
0:16:04 > 0:16:10Now we need to make some icing. We need a piece of tissue paper.
0:16:10 > 0:16:15We're going to scrunch and bunch it up, very loosely.
0:16:15 > 0:16:20And then we're going to take this side and fold it into the middle.
0:16:20 > 0:16:26And then take this side and fold it into the middle as well.
0:16:26 > 0:16:31This is going to be the icing at the back of our cake.
0:16:31 > 0:16:34Add some gloopy glue at the back.
0:16:36 > 0:16:39We pick up our icing and place it on.
0:16:42 > 0:16:48That's the icing at the back, but how about some icing
0:16:48 > 0:16:50in the middle here?
0:16:50 > 0:16:55It's a circle shape and we need another piece of tissue paper.
0:16:55 > 0:16:59I'm going to scrunch it up again, this time a little bit more tightly.
0:16:59 > 0:17:03I'll twirl it round in a circle shape.
0:17:03 > 0:17:07Round and round it goes. It doesn't have to be neat.
0:17:07 > 0:17:11There - a tissue paper circle.
0:17:11 > 0:17:14Add another dollop of gloopy glue.
0:17:18 > 0:17:23Once your sponge is dry, it's time to use some more paint,
0:17:23 > 0:17:30but this is to create the delicious icing on the back and on the top.
0:17:30 > 0:17:34You can chose whatever colour you like,
0:17:34 > 0:17:38but I want to do a nice white icing, so I'll get a clean brush.
0:17:38 > 0:17:44Get some gloopy paint - it looks good if your paint is nice
0:17:44 > 0:17:47and thick and gloopy like this.
0:17:47 > 0:17:52And when it's dry, doesn't it look fantastic!
0:17:52 > 0:17:56There's one thing missing - the cherry!
0:17:56 > 0:18:02To make that, we need a square of red tissue paper like this.
0:18:02 > 0:18:05We'll scrunch it up into a ball.
0:18:05 > 0:18:10Let's brush on some gloopy glue on top of our icing.
0:18:10 > 0:18:12Then we stick it on!
0:18:12 > 0:18:15Ha-ha! There we go!
0:18:15 > 0:18:19It's the cherry on top of the cake. Wow!
0:18:19 > 0:18:26A fake cake that's easy to make. Why not try other spongy delights?
0:18:26 > 0:18:31Why not try a chocolate cake with pink icing and shiny beads?
0:18:31 > 0:18:34Or try making a whole cake
0:18:34 > 0:18:38using two large round sponges like this.
0:18:38 > 0:18:42All those fake cakes look fantastic.
0:18:42 > 0:18:46- The only thing you can't do is eat them.- Time to go!
0:18:46 > 0:18:52My making time's over, but yours is just beginning. See you soon!
0:18:52 > 0:18:57It's time to put all this stuff back in its box.
