0:00:08 > 0:00:11We've got a very special show lined up for you today on Kickabout.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13I'm talking skills, tricks and flicks.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15John Farnworth's going to show you how to do

0:00:15 > 0:00:17it with a little help from this lot.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20CHEERING.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22I'd best get my goalie gloves.

0:00:42 > 0:00:43Hello, hello, Kickabout fans.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45And welcome to the Powerleague Trafford Sportsdome where we're

0:00:45 > 0:00:48going to be showing you some top footy tricks, freestyler skills

0:00:48 > 0:00:50and as well as that, all of this lot coming up.

0:00:50 > 0:00:57We meet female footballing maestro Liv Cooke.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Find out who's made our top five most skilful players list.

0:01:01 > 0:01:06And it wouldn't be a skills special without your brilliant videos, too.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08Loads and loads to look forward to there.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Now, on with the footy tricks.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13There is only one man I could have called upon for this

0:01:13 > 0:01:15situation right here.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17He's a world-class football freestyler, and holds not only one,

0:01:17 > 0:01:18but five world records.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20It's John Farnworth, everybody!

0:01:20 > 0:01:21How's it going, Taylor?

0:01:21 > 0:01:23I'm good, and good.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25So, what skills are we going to be learning today?

0:01:25 > 0:01:30Well, freestyle's all about creativity, but we're

0:01:30 > 0:01:33going to be showing these lot how we put the tricks

0:01:33 > 0:01:34into a game situation.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37So the first one is flick-ups, ways to get the ball

0:01:37 > 0:01:40from the floor into the air.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43Once you've done it, just see how many kick-ups you can do.

0:01:43 > 0:01:44All right?

0:01:44 > 0:01:45So it starts here.

0:01:45 > 0:01:46Roll.

0:01:46 > 0:01:47Into the air like that.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50If you feel you've got that, if you feel you've mastered it,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53we're going to go on to the second one, which is, I think,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55a lot harder, and looks pretty cool.

0:01:55 > 0:01:56It's called the slam down.

0:02:01 > 0:02:02OK?

0:02:02 > 0:02:04So, the ball is here.

0:02:04 > 0:02:05Foot here, foot below.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06Straight up like that.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09So you may notice that I'm using the floor to get

0:02:09 > 0:02:10the ball in the air.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12It's actually what we call a bounce moving freestyle,

0:02:12 > 0:02:15so you're going to flick the ball up, hit it straight back down

0:02:15 > 0:02:18with the sole, and then that bounce gets the ball straight back up

0:02:18 > 0:02:19into the air.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22So basically you're going to flick it up with one, down

0:02:22 > 0:02:23with the other foot.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25So I'll maybe show you one more time.

0:02:25 > 0:02:26Is that all right?

0:02:26 > 0:02:28And then you guys have got to have a try.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31So it goes here, down, and off you go.

0:02:31 > 0:02:32Amazing.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33Make sense?

0:02:33 > 0:02:34Yes.

0:02:34 > 0:02:35Let's give it a go.

0:02:35 > 0:02:36Let's go.

0:02:36 > 0:02:37Off you go, guys.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45That was good, that was good.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47You're getting it now.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52While these guys go and practise their skills,

0:02:52 > 0:02:55Lesley can look back to earlier in the year when we met

0:02:55 > 0:02:56the UK's first female professional freestyler,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Liv Cooke.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04Hi, I'm Liv Cooke.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06I'm the UK's first professional female football freestyler.

0:03:06 > 0:03:11And you're watching Match Of The Day Kickabout.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26I started football freestyle when I was 15, and now

0:03:26 > 0:03:31I'm 16 going on 17.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33With football freestyle, it took me around two years to get

0:03:33 > 0:03:36to the level I'm at now, but I always had the fundamentals

0:03:36 > 0:03:39of control, because my brothers would stick me in a football net

0:03:39 > 0:03:42on the weekend and just fire balls at me again and again,

0:03:42 > 0:03:43so my control developed from there.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46And then being a footballer, I had the simple tricks

0:03:46 > 0:03:47like around the world.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50And then two years of freestyle, it seemed to progress really quickly,

0:03:50 > 0:03:53because I practised a lot.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00When I was really young, in my primary school, infant school,

0:04:00 > 0:04:02I'd play in the playground with the boys all day,

0:04:02 > 0:04:04like playing football.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07My favourite player is by far Ronaldinho.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10When I was just starting freestyle, I actually did watch a lot

0:04:10 > 0:04:12of Ronaldinho's videos just to learn flick-ups and tricks

0:04:12 > 0:04:17that I could show off at training to my friends.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20If you want to start freestyle, I suggest you start by learning

0:04:20 > 0:04:22kick-ups, and also neck stall, which is like balancing the ball

0:04:22 > 0:04:25on your back with your head up so it stays there.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29The feeling you get when you land a new trick or get

0:04:29 > 0:04:30a new combo, it's amazing.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34One of the best things about football freestyle is it's

0:04:34 > 0:04:37for absolutely anybody of any age, and it can be done anywhere.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39All you need is a ball.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50Amazing skills there by Liv.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52John, what do we have next?

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Well, next up, we're going to do ways to get

0:04:54 > 0:04:58the ball around an opponent, so moves to beat players, OK?

0:04:58 > 0:05:01The first one was quite a famous move that Pele used to do.

0:05:07 > 0:05:11He used to step inside and then take the ball the other way.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14And there was one time he did it where there was like a goalkeeper,

0:05:14 > 0:05:17and the ball was played in, and he stepped and the goalkeeper

0:05:17 > 0:05:20went down, and he went past him, and I just thought that was genius.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22So that's our first one.

0:05:22 > 0:05:24Second one is taking the Pele stepover to the next level.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27When I was your age, Ronaldo used to do this,

0:05:27 > 0:05:28but not Cristiano Ronaldo.

0:05:28 > 0:05:31There was a player before him who played for Brazil, another Ronaldo.

0:05:31 > 0:05:33Memphis Depay has done this recently.

0:05:33 > 0:05:38You may have seen it.

0:05:43 > 0:05:48So you're going to bring the ball across, then I'm

0:05:48 > 0:05:50going to touch it here, then I'm going to go

0:05:50 > 0:05:51off into the space.

0:05:51 > 0:05:53OK?

0:05:53 > 0:05:56Now, this has been done as a nutmeg, too, so if I'm here, go over,

0:05:56 > 0:05:58you can actually put it through your opponent's legs.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00So there's lots of ways you can do this.

0:06:00 > 0:06:04You can also do it as a pass, getting round, as a shot,

0:06:04 > 0:06:06and once your round him, you've got all that space,

0:06:06 > 0:06:07you can do whatever you want.

0:06:07 > 0:06:14So we've got the Pele stepover and the Depay roll stepover.

0:06:14 > 0:06:15Shall we go and practise?

0:06:15 > 0:06:16Yes!

0:06:16 > 0:06:17Let's give it a go.

0:06:17 > 0:06:18Let's go!

0:06:18 > 0:06:21You know, the best players, when they dribble, they don't kick

0:06:21 > 0:06:25it too far, because why?

0:06:25 > 0:06:26Because they get tackled?

0:06:26 > 0:06:27Get tackled?

0:06:27 > 0:06:30If I've got the ball under control, at any time, I can move.

0:06:32 > 0:06:34Good lad, that's awesome.

0:06:34 > 0:06:37These guys have some serious skills, but so do you all at home.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40Let's take a look.

0:08:00 > 0:08:03You are seriously a talented bunch.

0:08:03 > 0:08:06Now, I'm joined now by two more talented Kickabout viewers

0:08:06 > 0:08:08whose videos we loved when they were sent in.

0:08:08 > 0:08:09It's Sam and Helen.

0:08:09 > 0:08:13Right, Sam, first up.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15Your basketball trick shot was absolutely unbelievable.

0:08:15 > 0:08:18How much practice did that take?

0:08:18 > 0:08:21It took me a whole afternoon to actually get all three in.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24And how many balls were kicked in that process,

0:08:24 > 0:08:25or was it a one take wonder?

0:08:25 > 0:08:26Loads!

0:08:26 > 0:08:27Loads!

0:08:27 > 0:08:29Loads.

0:08:29 > 0:08:30No broken windows, we hope.

0:08:30 > 0:08:33But we also saw that you did it in no trainers.

0:08:33 > 0:08:34Why was that?

0:08:34 > 0:08:36It's because I could feel the ball more instead of using shoes.

0:08:36 > 0:08:38Fantastic, adapting.

0:08:38 > 0:08:39Right, Helen, we loved your freestyle skills showcase

0:08:39 > 0:08:41in that video you sent in.

0:08:41 > 0:08:43How long have you been practising?

0:08:43 > 0:08:45I've been practising for awhile now.

0:08:45 > 0:08:49I do it as often as I can.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51And is there any say inspirations that you look up to?

0:08:51 > 0:08:53John is one of my inspirations.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56I've watched him since I was younger.

0:08:56 > 0:08:57That's brilliant.

0:08:57 > 0:09:02Right, so I've got to ask you guys.

0:09:02 > 0:09:03What are your favourite skills?

0:09:03 > 0:09:05Mine is a 360 kneecap.

0:09:05 > 0:09:06How cool that sounds.

0:09:06 > 0:09:07Mine's round the world.

0:09:07 > 0:09:09OK, living up to expectations, do you guys reckon you

0:09:09 > 0:09:11could show us it, live?

0:09:11 > 0:09:13OK, let's do this!

0:09:18 > 0:09:19What?!

0:09:19 > 0:09:20Yes, my man!

0:09:20 > 0:09:21Right, let's go again.

0:09:21 > 0:09:24Absolutely love it.

0:09:27 > 0:09:30So, here's our top pick of players that are best

0:09:30 > 0:09:32showcasing their skills.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43COMMENTATOR: Henry, outrageous skill from Thierry Henry.

0:09:43 > 0:09:53Ronaldo backing them up.

0:09:53 > 0:09:56Oh!

0:09:56 > 0:09:59Explosive.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06On his day, arguably the best, most effective and certainly

0:10:06 > 0:10:10the most exciting player in the premiership.

0:10:17 > 0:10:18Oh, that's a wondrous goal!

0:10:18 > 0:10:25From a wonderful player.

0:10:35 > 0:10:39Coutinho, clever, very clever.

0:10:39 > 0:10:44And again, very clever from Coutinho.

0:10:44 > 0:10:48He's got his own way of doing that.

0:10:51 > 0:10:55Might go for goal, oh, he's scored!

0:10:55 > 0:11:00Out of the blue.

0:11:02 > 0:11:05Imagine all of that lot in one team.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07I don't fancy my chances.

0:11:07 > 0:11:11I reckon you could give them a run for their money, though, John.

0:11:11 > 0:11:12Maybe.

0:11:12 > 0:11:13What's our third and final skill?

0:11:13 > 0:11:14Accuracy.

0:11:14 > 0:11:17So to do this, we're going to use a bin, right?

0:11:17 > 0:11:23I love doing bin shots.

0:11:23 > 0:11:26I love doing my freestyle, but I love mixing the two together.

0:11:26 > 0:11:28So we're going to start off with the bin on the floor,

0:11:28 > 0:11:32so for the viewers at home, if you're not used to doing a bin

0:11:32 > 0:11:34shot, you can just put the bin down.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37And you can be, like, nearly ten metres, kick it in.

0:11:37 > 0:11:38Once you've done it, go a bit further back,

0:11:38 > 0:11:40a bit further back.

0:11:40 > 0:11:41Then eventually, you can put the bin up.

0:11:41 > 0:11:44Which is much harder, and then try and kick it in.

0:11:44 > 0:11:47So, as I'm here, and as I'm a freestyler, I've prepared my own

0:11:47 > 0:11:48very special freestyle bin shot.

0:11:48 > 0:11:49Shall we try it?

0:11:49 > 0:11:51Yeah.

0:11:51 > 0:11:52OK, let's go.

0:12:09 > 0:12:11Now, you saw how difficult it was.

0:12:11 > 0:12:13It even took this genius a few times to get in.

0:12:13 > 0:12:16So let's see you guys give it a go.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18OK?

0:12:39 > 0:12:41Oh, so close.

0:12:41 > 0:12:45Do not go anywhere, because up next, we'll be combining all the skills

0:12:45 > 0:12:49from today in a very special challenge right here on this pitch.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52But for the meantime, while we set up, take a look

0:12:52 > 0:12:53at Frankie Vu's dream 5-a-side team.

0:12:53 > 0:12:59I'm Frankie Vu, and this is my skilful dream 5-a-side team.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02So, starting off in goal, I have Rene Higuita,

0:13:02 > 0:13:05who you may not be familiar with, but he was the goalkeeper who made

0:13:05 > 0:13:11that famous scorpion kick known worldwide.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14And he's also a pretty good outfield player as well.

0:13:14 > 0:13:17So I put myself in defence, because not many people know this,

0:13:17 > 0:13:19but in primary school, I actually played in defence.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21So, after Higuita does his scorpion kick out of goal,

0:13:21 > 0:13:27I can do one of these.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32Actually, you know what?

0:13:32 > 0:13:34That's probably over head height, isn't it?

0:13:34 > 0:13:37In midfield, I'd go for Ronaldinho.

0:13:37 > 0:13:40When you think of skills, Ronaldinho is pretty much the first

0:13:40 > 0:13:41name that springs to mind.

0:13:41 > 0:13:44He would just bamboozle people all over the pitch and just create

0:13:44 > 0:13:47magic every time he gets the ball.

0:13:47 > 0:13:49Also in midfield, I'd have Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

0:13:49 > 0:13:52Not many players have got an actual move named after them,

0:13:52 > 0:13:55but Johan Cruyff has got the Cruyff turn, one of the most

0:13:55 > 0:13:56famous moves known to man.

0:13:57 > 0:13:59Up front, I'd have the one and only Diego Maradona.

0:13:59 > 0:14:02He's got all the skills to take everyone on the pitch on,

0:14:02 > 0:14:04just like he did against England.

0:14:04 > 0:14:07And if that doesn't work, he'll just use his hands!

0:14:13 > 0:14:16Some top choices there, Frankie, and some nice moves, too.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19But now it's time to put everything we've learned into action.

0:14:19 > 0:14:25First up, we've got the freestyle flick-up.

0:14:31 > 0:14:36That's right, two of the best tricks put together.

0:14:36 > 0:14:39And then these guys over here are going to be beating a man.

0:14:39 > 0:14:42That's it, stepovers, dragbacks, turns, it's all in there.

0:14:42 > 0:14:45Moving on to the final challenge, where these guys are going to be

0:14:45 > 0:14:47doing that accuracy challenge.

0:14:47 > 0:14:48This is interesting.

0:14:48 > 0:14:50If they get it into the bin, they win.

0:14:50 > 0:14:51So, guys, are we ready?

0:14:51 > 0:14:53Yes!

0:14:53 > 0:14:54Let's do this.

0:14:54 > 0:14:58OK, so in three, two, one...

0:14:58 > 0:15:01Off you go!

0:15:04 > 0:15:05That's two.

0:15:05 > 0:15:06Well done, off you go.

0:15:06 > 0:15:10The yellow team seems to be storming ahead.

0:15:20 > 0:15:23CHEERING.

0:15:23 > 0:15:26Yellow in the bin.

0:15:26 > 0:15:31What techniques there was there.

0:15:31 > 0:15:33We've had an absolute fantastic time here today,

0:15:33 > 0:15:36and we hope you've learned loads at home to try, too.

0:15:36 > 0:15:38If you want to head onto the Kickabout website,

0:15:38 > 0:15:41you can see John doing the skills over and over again.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43And indeed, get involved - send in your videos,

0:15:43 > 0:15:44we love seeing them.

0:15:44 > 0:15:47But until next time, guys, see you.
