:07:51. > :08:07.But, of course, that was only one of the games in the

:08:23. > :08:24.with Suarez and Neymar getting in as well.
:08:25. > :08:27.And did you know that, between the three of them,
:08:28. > :08:30.they have scored a combined 266 goals in just over two seasons?
:08:31. > :08:33.Elsewhere, there were cheers and tears for the English clubs.
:08:34. > :09:33.But it is good to remember it's not all
:09:34. > :09:35.Sometimes, the most important players on the pitch

:09:47. > :09:51.They are often the ones doing the work that you
:09:52. > :09:54.And what makes a great holding mid fielder?
:09:55. > :09:56.I've got youth coach Sam here with me to give me
:09:57. > :10:00.Very well, thanks. Thanks for having me.
:10:01. > :10:03.The main question is, what is a holding midfielder?
:10:04. > :10:06.A holding midfielder is the player who sits just in front
:10:07. > :10:09.of the defence and sort of is mainly there to stop the opposition
:10:10. > :10:11.from playing and stopping them from scoring.
:10:12. > :10:14.of the defence and sort of is mainly there to stop the opposition
:10:15. > :10:16.from playing and stopping them from scoring.
:10:17. > :10:20.So, if any of our Kickabout fans at home are dreaming
:10:21. > :10:23.of being a holding midfielder or thinking about changing
:10:24. > :10:25.their position to that or just want to know more, what tips
:10:26. > :10:30.The first thing that anyone can do at home is you've got to be very,
:10:31. > :10:34.Second thing, you've got to be good at finding space
:10:35. > :10:39.The third one is noticing danger, sensing where there is danger
:10:40. > :10:42.and stopping it and making a big tackle for your team.
:10:43. > :10:44.All right, brilliant. And you got some examples for us.
:10:45. > :10:48.The first one we've got is from Leicester last year.
:10:49. > :10:50.What he's brilliant at, he's very, very fit,
:10:51. > :10:52.and is always running around and chasing after the ball.
:10:53. > :10:54.And winning it back quickly for his team.
:10:55. > :10:56.That is really important, to gain possession back,
:10:57. > :10:59.so the opposition cannot score and it sets your team playing
:11:00. > :11:02.As you can see here, he passes forward
:11:03. > :11:05.A really crucial player for Leicester in the last season.
:11:06. > :11:09.His main role is to win that ball back and break down the play
:11:10. > :11:13.He doesn't need to do anything extravagant.
:11:14. > :11:17.But so many clubs try to sign him in the summer.
:11:18. > :11:19.A great player. A fantastic example.
:11:20. > :11:22.So who else do we know like him, who you don't really notice,
:11:23. > :11:24.but is a holding midfielder and does a great job?
:11:25. > :11:27.A player who has been around in the Premier League
:11:28. > :11:28.for about ten years, Michael Carrick.
:11:29. > :11:32.Probably one of the most underrated players in the league.
:11:33. > :11:36.He keeps the ball and is always in space every time you him.
:11:37. > :11:40.He is always available to receive the pass. After he has passed it, he
:11:41. > :11:43.goes again. Always moving. An absolutely brilliant player. One of
:11:44. > :11:46.the best in the last ten years in the whole Premier League. Who else
:11:47. > :11:49.could you give me an example of? He has just come on the scene. A young
:11:50. > :11:52.English player. He senses danger very quickly and snuffs it out so
:11:53. > :12:03.the opposition cannot get near the goal. At the top of your screen, he
:12:04. > :12:09.notices that Ansar is sprinting back into position. All of a sudden, he
:12:10. > :12:14.makes a big tackle which is going to save a goal. So, some of the three
:12:15. > :12:18.points. You've got to be fit. Lots of running. Keeping the ball and
:12:19. > :12:24.finding space. And sensing danger and making big tackles when you need
:12:25. > :12:28.to. That is something anyone can work on. Thank you for coming in.
:12:29. > :12:34.And why don't you keep a special eye on much of the day this week to see
:12:35. > :12:38.if you can spot any of those techniques? The real stars are not
:12:39. > :12:44.the players, but you lot. Check out the skills.
:12:45. > :12:54.First up, is Felix. Clean through the hoop in the top corner. And he
:12:55. > :13:01.likes that. Max has made not one, but two balls. And he still nails
:13:02. > :13:09.it. And, finally, here is a Sunni. A great keep up. Smash! Get an! -- get
:13:10. > :13:18.in. Unbelievable skills. Love it. And
:13:19. > :13:25.please keep them coming in. Just go to the CBBC website and find the
:13:26. > :13:29.upload at all. That's nearly it. We've just got time to look ahead to
:13:30. > :13:33.the Premier League fixtures coming up. Some important games in there.
:13:34. > :13:41.And some great head-to-head battles to look out for. I picked two great
:13:42. > :13:44.strikers. But for the late kick-off between Everton and Middlesbrough.
:13:45. > :14:00.Let's have a look at the statistics. As you can see, so far this season,
:14:01. > :14:04.here it is... Surprisingly, he has hardly won any aerial challenges.
:14:05. > :14:08.But thanks to his recent hat-trick, he does come out on top on goals.
:14:09. > :14:14.When he bagged the winner this afternoon? So much to
:14:15. > :14:19.look out for. Whether you're going to a game or watching on telly, keep
:14:20. > :14:23.enjoying your football. See you next week. And we thought we would finish
:14:24. > :14:30.with the man who really knew how to finish. They have made a statue.
:14:31. > :14:32.This will be West Ham about the statue. Hello? Mum? I'm on the
:14:33. > :15:06.telly. Allen, take it away. Shearer will take this one. Yes!
:15:07. > :15:11.Shearer hit said. Never in doubt.
