0:01:52 > 0:01:54from his own half this week, as his side beat Sporting Gijon 3-1

0:01:54 > 0:02:01in the Spanish league.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19Whilst the Gunners came from behind to beat Chelsea.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22After a goalless first leg, Hazard put the Blues ahead,

0:02:22 > 0:02:28while an own goal levelled it, before Granit Xhaka sealed the win.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Congratulations to Man City and Arsenal.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33The final takes place on Sunday the 25th of February.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35And what a cracking game it should be.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Another big footie competition coming up soon

0:02:37 > 0:02:38is the FA People's Cup.

0:02:38 > 0:02:43Last year, more than 6000 teams and over 40,000 players took part

0:02:43 > 0:02:44in Round One across the country.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47And it's time to get involved again now if you want

0:02:47 > 0:02:49to enter a team this year.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52The ultimate prize is a chance to lift the trophy in your category

0:02:52 > 0:02:54at the FA Cup final in May.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58But the best thing is, you get to take part in a huge

0:02:58 > 0:02:59tournament with your mates.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01So, with that in mind, here are the top tips

0:03:01 > 0:03:03with Kickabout's on John Farnworth and Alex Scott to prepare

0:03:03 > 0:03:10you for the nation's biggest 5-a-side competition.

0:03:15 > 0:03:16I love 5-a-side!

0:03:16 > 0:03:18I think it's a great way of improving your technique

0:03:18 > 0:03:20to become a top footballer.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24And, the FA People's Cup is all about the 5-a-side game.

0:03:24 > 0:03:27It's fun, it's free, it's 5-a-side.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29And they're looking for teams of boys and girls.

0:03:29 > 0:03:33So if you are under 14, this is the perfect tournament for you.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36So, we thought we would give you our top five to help you master

0:03:36 > 0:03:39becoming a good 5-a-side player.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44Master the short passing game.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47A 5-a-side court is a small, tight area, so short passing is key.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50In 5-a-side, most passes are played short.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53Very rarely you will see those long, sweeping passes.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56Because remember the no overhead height rule.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58Your passing has to be super-accurate.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01You can't always use tricks and flicks, and punting the ball up

0:04:01 > 0:04:03in the air just ain't going to work.

0:04:03 > 0:04:04Short passing might sound simple.

0:04:04 > 0:04:11But, because of the lack of space, those passes need to be right.

0:04:11 > 0:04:13Like your passing, good shooting sounds obvious.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16But in 5-a-side, it is a little different.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19Because the goals are low and wide, so you need to aim for the corners.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22Aim low and the goals will flow.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24And remember, the pitch is so small, you will get so many

0:04:24 > 0:04:27opportunities to shoot, so don't overplay it.

0:04:27 > 0:04:34Once you get your opportunity, head up and smash it in the corner.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37In 5-a-side, the goalie will probably face twice as many

0:04:37 > 0:04:39shots than in a normal game, which means the difference

0:04:39 > 0:04:42between winning and losing.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45But, what's really important is that goalie roll-out.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48Because too many times goals are scored when goalkeepers roll

0:04:48 > 0:04:51them out to people in bad positions.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53So, if it's not on, just be patient.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55And remember, the way you roll it out is underarm

0:04:55 > 0:04:57to the feet of your team-mate.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59If you just chuck it to your mates and it's

0:04:59 > 0:05:02bouncing all over the place, that is going to cause

0:05:02 > 0:05:05loads of problems.

0:05:05 > 0:05:06Defending - don't dive in.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09And when your opponents have the ball, force them wide.

0:05:09 > 0:05:11Block the shots, get goal-side of your attacker

0:05:11 > 0:05:13and stop them from shooting.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15And defenders are key.

0:05:15 > 0:05:21Don't be the one that goal hangs, get back and get out.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24Sole skills, this is essential in 5-a-side because there

0:05:24 > 0:05:26is no space on the pitch.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29So remember, use the sole of your foot to move the ball

0:05:29 > 0:05:32and get yourself out of any tight situations.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38OK, we have showed you our top skills for 5-a-side.

0:05:38 > 0:05:42So it's time for you to get out there and put them into action.

0:05:42 > 0:05:43Let's go!

0:05:43 > 0:05:45Left foot!

0:05:50 > 0:05:52Thanks, team.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55And the FA People's Cup sign-up is open now.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57Head to the Kickabout website for all the details.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00This year, there's 18 categories - including an under-14 male

0:06:00 > 0:06:02and under-14 female category.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05You do have to be 12 or over to take part.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07But don't worry if you're too young right now.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10You can still practice all those top tips to get training for the future.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13And there's certainly no doubt you've got the skills to rival Alex

0:06:13 > 0:06:17and John if the videos you send in week are anything to go by.

0:06:17 > 0:06:20Check this lot out.

0:06:26 > 0:06:33Massive Newcastle fan Gavin here showing how

0:06:33 > 0:06:34to master the kick-ups.

0:06:34 > 0:06:40Sign him up, Rafa!

0:06:40 > 0:06:44He is Liam scoring a fantastic free kick to lead his team to a 3-2 win

0:06:44 > 0:06:52against Ashington recently.

0:06:54 > 0:06:59And finally, here's Finlay scoring for his team, the under-7s,

0:06:59 > 0:07:02the only goal of the match, and it won them the tournament.

0:07:02 > 0:07:03Look at that!

0:07:03 > 0:07:11Brilliant stuff!

0:07:13 > 0:07:16And check out the cup they won that day thanks to Finlay's goal.

0:07:16 > 0:07:17Well done again, guys.

0:07:17 > 0:07:20Looking ahead to this weekend now, it's the return of the FA Cup,

0:07:20 > 0:07:22and Premier League leaders Man City travel to Cardiff.

0:07:22 > 0:07:24Well, they'll be hoping to continue their pursuit

0:07:24 > 0:07:28of all four trophies in one season.

0:07:28 > 0:07:32Tottenham are at Newport County, one of the lowest-ranked sides left

0:07:32 > 0:07:35left in the competition, after they caused an upset

0:07:35 > 0:07:37in the last round by beating Championship side Leeds.

0:07:37 > 0:07:39Whilst Nottingham Forest, who knocked out holders Arsenal,

0:07:39 > 0:07:40are at the Championship rivals Hull.

0:07:40 > 0:07:43The Tigers will be hoping to bounce back after defeat to Sunderland

0:07:43 > 0:07:44in the Championship last weekend.

0:07:44 > 0:07:46The Black Cats won 1-0, only their second win

0:07:46 > 0:07:49at the Stadium Of Light this season, would you believe it?!

0:07:49 > 0:07:51But a move in the right direction, our next Sunderland

0:07:51 > 0:07:52superfan will be hoping.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55I'm talking about Terry Deary, author of the hugely successful

0:07:55 > 0:07:56Horrible Histories series.

0:07:56 > 0:07:59You'll know him better for his books than the Black Cats,

0:07:59 > 0:08:01but he's also a massive football fan, as we found out recently

0:08:01 > 0:08:07when we caught up with him to chat footie facts from years gone by.

0:08:07 > 0:08:10Hello, I'm Terry Deary.

0:08:10 > 0:08:14And as well as being a lifelong supporter of the wonderful

0:08:14 > 0:08:22Sunderland Football Club, some of you might know me better

0:08:23 > 0:08:26as the author of the book series Horrible Histories.

0:08:26 > 0:08:28I was born in Sunderland 72 years ago.

0:08:28 > 0:08:33And me dad took me to me first match when I was nine years old.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36I remember one of the great players of those days was a player

0:08:36 > 0:08:38called Len Shackleton, who used to do incredible

0:08:38 > 0:08:39tricks with the ball.

0:08:39 > 0:08:41And ever since then, my favourite players have always

0:08:41 > 0:08:45been the entertainers.

0:08:45 > 0:08:48COMMENTATOR:Here's one more, has to go alone here, and scores!

0:08:48 > 0:08:50And you won't see a more popular goal-scorer anywhere

0:08:50 > 0:08:58in the country today!

0:08:58 > 0:09:01And down the years, I've seen Sunderland go up and come down.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04But it doesn't matter how good or bad they are,

0:09:04 > 0:09:10I'll always support them.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13I've got a season ticket for Sunderland Football Club,

0:09:13 > 0:09:15and hardly a home game goes by without me going downstairs

0:09:15 > 0:09:23for a Bovril and somebody will come up to me and say,

0:09:24 > 0:09:27"when are you going to write a Horrible History of this lot?!"

0:09:27 > 0:09:29Because Horrible Histories are 25 years old now,

0:09:29 > 0:09:32and this wonderful new stadium is only 20 years old.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34So the Horrible Histories books are older than the stadium.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36I've been a season ticket-holder here for all that time.

0:09:36 > 0:09:40And, of course, in the recent years, the big heroes are the goal-scorers.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43People like Kevin Phillips, who scored 30 goals in one season.

0:09:43 > 0:09:44He was a hero.

0:09:44 > 0:09:46We've never done that well since he left.

0:09:46 > 0:09:47COMMENTATOR:Jermain Defoe!

0:09:47 > 0:09:49Oh my goodness me, what a goal!

0:09:49 > 0:09:512018 sees the 25th anniversary of the Horrible Histories books.

0:09:51 > 0:09:54So how about we celebrate by me giving you some

0:09:54 > 0:10:02horrible football facts, especially for you lot at much

0:10:02 > 0:10:04horrible football facts, especially for you lot at Match

0:10:04 > 0:10:11of the Day Kickabout?

0:10:11 > 0:10:13Football's always had a very colourful past.

0:10:13 > 0:10:18In 1531, a Puritan preacher called Thomas Elliott said,

0:10:18 > 0:10:20"football creates beastly fury and extreme violence!"

0:10:20 > 0:10:24Not a lot changes, then!

0:10:24 > 0:10:28In 1589, a vicar was giving a sermon in church when he heard a noise

0:10:28 > 0:10:30outside, and he found two men were playing

0:10:30 > 0:10:33football in his churchyard!

0:10:33 > 0:10:35They were fined two shillings for this grave crime.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37Grave crime, get it?!

0:10:37 > 0:10:44Never mind...

0:10:47 > 0:10:52In 1863, Ebenezer Cobb Morley's rules of the game

0:10:52 > 0:10:53said it was OK to hack

0:10:53 > 0:10:57at the front of an opponent's leg.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00In fact, barging, hacking and tripping were all part of the game.

0:11:00 > 0:11:06One of the supporters of hacking even went as far as to say,

0:11:06 > 0:11:08"if you ban hacking, then you take out all the plot and

0:11:08 > 0:11:11courage from the game.

0:11:11 > 0:11:16And within a week, a team of Frenchmen will come

0:11:16 > 0:11:18across, and after a little practice they will beat us!"

0:11:18 > 0:11:20That's never going to happen!

0:11:20 > 0:11:21Top staff!

0:11:21 > 0:11:22And the superfans don't stop with Terry!

0:11:22 > 0:11:25You lot at home have been sending in some fantastic footie photos,

0:11:25 > 0:11:27showing your support for your favourite teams, too.

0:11:27 > 0:11:30As well as some amazing achievements on the pitch.

0:11:30 > 0:11:32He is Isaac outside Wembley, about to enjoy his first

0:11:32 > 0:11:39ever footie match.

0:11:39 > 0:11:41Spurs were taking on Everton, and Isaac loved seeing his idols

0:11:41 > 0:11:42Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45Jack is a big Newcastle fan, and recently enjoyed

0:11:45 > 0:11:50a tour of St James's Park.

0:11:50 > 0:11:52It was his first time visiting a football ground,

0:11:52 > 0:11:54and he loved seeing the changing rooms and pitch.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56Sophie plays for three teams, including Jarrow

0:11:56 > 0:12:00FC and Boldin Girls.

0:12:00 > 0:12:05She trains three times a week, with matches every weekend.

0:12:05 > 0:12:08And the hard work is clearly paying off, as Boldin Girls have

0:12:08 > 0:12:09just won their league!

0:12:09 > 0:12:15Well done, Sophie.

0:12:15 > 0:12:17Aston Villa fan Samir met their mascot at Villa Park

0:12:17 > 0:12:21during the game against Sunderland.

0:12:21 > 0:12:24Villa won 2-1, and Samir even got to say hello to assistant

0:12:24 > 0:12:32manager Colin Calderwood.

0:12:32 > 0:12:39And finally, here's Jack in action for Walsall under-8s.

0:12:39 > 0:12:42And with his Outstanding Player Trophy that he won last year.

0:12:42 > 0:12:45He loves playing in the team with his best friend, Liam.

0:12:45 > 0:12:47Keep up the good work, you two.

0:12:47 > 0:12:49Jack and Liam, I bet you're a dynamic duo out

0:12:49 > 0:12:50there on that pitch.

0:12:50 > 0:12:51Nice one!

0:12:51 > 0:12:54Keep sending in your fantastic photos, and of course your

0:12:54 > 0:12:55brilliant skills videos.

0:12:55 > 0:12:57We love featuring you on the show each week.

0:12:57 > 0:12:58It's really simple to get involved.

0:13:05 > 0:13:07We asked you to choose between two Spanish superstars -

0:13:09 > 0:13:14So, let's find out if you wanted to see goals from the Blues

0:13:14 > 0:13:18or goals from the Toon.

0:13:18 > 0:13:21COMMENTATOR: Pedro in a good position, a little bit of room.

0:13:21 > 0:13:22Too much room!

0:13:22 > 0:13:24A brilliant goal.

0:13:24 > 0:13:30Pedro curls his side level.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32COMMENTATOR: Febregas finds him beautifully, now Pedro!

0:13:32 > 0:13:35Pedro, the crowd absolutely loving that.

0:13:35 > 0:13:36Pedro is away...

0:13:36 > 0:13:38Pedro makes it 2-0.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40It's 1-0 to Chelsea!

0:13:40 > 0:13:48Pedro guiding it into the far corner...

0:13:48 > 0:13:49It's gone through to Pedro, and it's 2-0!

0:13:49 > 0:13:53Pedro could strike...

0:13:53 > 0:13:55Oh, what a fantastic goal by Pedro!

0:13:55 > 0:13:57From the top draw into the top corner!

0:13:57 > 0:14:00What a player!

0:14:00 > 0:14:04Nice one, you lot.

0:14:04 > 0:14:07Looking ahead to next weekend, we are focusing on the big game

0:14:07 > 0:14:09between Liverpool and bars.

0:14:09 > 0:14:11-- and Spurs.

0:14:11 > 0:14:13Which of these two superstar strikers do

0:14:13 > 0:14:21you want to see goals from?

0:14:21 > 0:14:23COMMENTATOR: Mane brushes Chambers aside...

0:14:23 > 0:14:24Sadio Mane...

0:14:24 > 0:14:25COMMENTATOR: Great turn by Kane, brilliant goal!

0:14:25 > 0:14:29Or Harry Kane?

0:14:29 > 0:14:31Head to the Kickabout website to cast your vote.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34You've got until 9am on Wednesday the 31st of January.

0:14:34 > 0:14:36And we'll reveal the winner, as usual, next Saturday.
